How to Make the Most of Your Beauty Regimen During Lockdown

sponsored post by Capillus

While you probably will not be styling your hair or wearing your makeup during lockdown, there are plenty of things you can do to keep yourself looking healthy and beautiful. As you rest and relax during quarantine, try the following wellness activities. They’re all fun ways to keep busy, but they can also become part of your regular beauty regimen. Experiment with each of them to find what fits your lifestyle and needs.

Do a Beauty Detox

Since you will be at home for most of the time during lockdown, it is the perfect chance to let your skin breathe. Leave off the makeup, including the mascara. If you want to fix a few flaws and make yourself look more energized for your video meeting, wear a BB cream with SPF. The tint will help to smooth the look of your skin, while the sunscreen will help to protect the face from UV rays and environmental pollutants.

Use lip balm or a tinted gloss instead of lipstick or stain. Tame unruly brows with a brush, a lotion stick, or some clear mascara. Moisturize your face regularly with a rich day lotion and a night cream.

It is also a good idea to allow your nails to recover by keeping them polish-free. Instead of wearing a gel or your favorite color, apply a clear gloss or a nail treatment instead. Protein-enriching polishes help to stimulate healthy nail growth without the bold color. When the salons and spas are ready for customers, your nails will have a healthy foundation for a long-lasting manicure.

Care for Your Skin

In addition to moisturizing your face and wearing sunscreen, there are other things you can do at home to hydrate your skin and prevent signs of aging. One of the easiest things you can do is mist moisturizing water on your face. Buy one online from some of the top beauty companies or make your own DIY moisturizing mist. Spritz it on your facial skin throughout the day to keep it looking supple and radiant. The cool mist is also a great way to energize your mind when you are feeling bored or fatigued.

If you are interested in exfoliating during quarantine, dermatologists interviewed by Women’s Health recommend a few different types of products. Brightening serums with glycolic acid and antioxidants help to refine your facial texture and give you a radiant glow. A gentle facial scrub with nourishing ingredients like green tea and sea salt will help you to detox your skin while massaging away old skin cells.

Another helpful tip for caring for your skin includes avoiding too much alcohol during your lockdown. Liquor, wine, and beer all dehydrate the body, which will zap moisture from your face and make you look tired.

Now is the perfect time to get the hair you have always wanted. If you are one of the many people who have hair loss, thinning locks, or a condition such as female pattern baldness, wearing a laser hair growth cap for just a few minutes per day can help to stimulate, energize, and renew your hair follicles for thicker, healthier hair. Those who want to make their hair look bouncier and shinier can use a clarifying shampoo and try treatments such as hair oils.

Taking hair vitamins can help to improve your hair health from the inside out. Other tips include eating a balanced diet while on lockdown, drinking plenty of water, and wearing a hat or cap if you spend any time outside. Avoid washing or brushing your hair too often or with too much force, which can pull strands of hair from your head. Steer clear of accessories and wear your hair natural. Let it air dry to avoid damage from excessive heat. This will help to prevent split ends and breakage if you do begin styling with hot tools again.

Restore & Renew Your Body

The final step in your new beauty regimen is to care for the rest of your body. Stress can make common skin problems and hair loss worse, so it is important to find the right self-care and relaxation techniques. Aromatherapy with a personal diffuser while doing a hair mask or facial mask can help to relax you while protecting your appearance from the effects of worry and anxiety. Taking warm baths, practicing deep breathing techniques, or doing a self-massage routine can also help to restore you for a renewed wellness.

Rubbing your skin in olive oil is refreshing and can also make your skin look more glowing and hydrated. Soften rough feet with a foot scrub—or soak tired toes in a small tub full of warm Epsom salt. After lathering your feet with a thick moisturizer, put on a pair of thick and comfortable socks. While they are sure to feel cozy, your feet will also look smoother in the morning.

Improving Your Beauty Regimen in Quarantine

Even if you already have a beauty routine, there are plenty of things you can do during lockdown to enhance or improve it. Review what you currently do to care for yourself day and night. Make note of the activities above to see if there are any you need to incorporate into your schedule. By caring for your skin, hair, and nail health while you have a little extra time, you can take care of some of your must-complete beauty activities and enhance your appearance without ever leaving your home.

These are all terrific tips. I have been trying to do most of them since March, and I am doing pretty well. I had hoped to get into a routine about giving myself a mask at least once a week, but I’ve kind of fallen down on that one.

These are really great, and effective, tips! The pandemic has definitely shifted so many habits, and I have focussed much more on skincare than any sort of makeup!

Skincare is tops. I see a lot of patients having maskne so I emphasize good skincare regimen, etc
