After almost two years of blogging, I have come to realize that there are some truly stupendous organic lines out there. What I was surprised to learn recently was that one of them is practically in my own backyard!
Eve Organics is a mineral make up and organic skin care line that can be found online and in select stores and spas. I was attracted to this line because they have beautiful products and a beautiful message – every quarter, Eve Organics donates 10% of their profits to different charities that support people or communities in need. They carefully select charities to make sure the donations reach the cause, and not just the pockets of the administrators.
Eve Organics refuses to use toxic ingredients like dyes, synthetic fragrance, and bismuth, so you know what you are putting on your skin is good for you. They have an extensive skin care line, but today I am writing about their color products. I recently tested their blush and eyeshadow, and was totally impressed. And when I saw the bottom of the jar I realized that this wonderful company is in Macomb, Michigan – only about a half hour from where I live!
Mineral blushes are in loose pigment form, so you can use them for many things besides blush. All the pigments by Eve Organics are lip and eye safe, so you can use them for blush, eyes, lip color, mixed in with nail polish, or mixed into body lotion. Their pigments have no fillers, so they have great intensity and color payoff.
Kisses ($13.50 for 3 g) is a beautiful pinky-peach, I would say more pink than peach. It does remind me of Nars Orgasm, but it’s a little more pink and far prettier, I think.
I find that many mineral blushes fade on me very quickly, but these don’t. The color is so concentrated that it has great lasting power. And it’s extremely affordable – one jar of color will probably last your whole life, these are big jars and you need just a tiny amount of product.
So the blushes are great, but what about the eyeshadows? Total, complete LOVE. The colors are deeply pigmented and complex. Just check out Fanatic ($8.95 for .5 g):
This is a unique purplish/brown/rose/golden shadow, it’s different from anything else in my entire collection (which isn’t as big as Marcia’s, but it’s still pretty big!!)
Oh my, just looking at the swatch gives me goosebumps. It is truly outstanding. I also tried 24K ($8.95 for .5 g), a shimmering gold that I thought would be challenging for my 46-year-old eyelids to wear gracefully:
Check out the swatch below. Beautiful, isn’t it? But would it give me that ‘aging hooker’ look that I try to avoid (except for special occasions, of course)?
It’s actually truly gorgeous on, far more subtle than you would think and very easy to work with. If I want to look like an aging hooker I can pile it on, but normal application gives a fantastic glow that really opens up and brightens my eyes.
I am just so impressed with the pigments from Eve Organics. They are affordable, super high quality, and most of all just plain beautiful. I totally recommend this line that is amazing inside and out. Every purchase brings you beauty and gives back to the community at the same time. It just doesn’t get any better than that. – Lisa
