Pamper yourself with this flawless sponge and Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundaton

Sponge? Brush? Fingers? What do you use to apply your foundation? If your answer is a sponge I’ve been sent a great one that you need to check out yourself. Not all sponges are created equal. I’ve tried some really lousy ones that either ended up in the kids toybox or in the garbageman’s box. But PAMPER THERAPY FLAWLESS FINISH SPONGE isn’t going anywhere other than my vanity.

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

If often surprises me when I find people reluctant to try out sponge like this. They are not your mother’s sponge. This new generation of sponges are unique and they keep getting better. What I like most about Pamper is the unusual shape. The flat side of the elliptical sponge is what attracted me to this initially and now that I’m using it, that was a great first impression.

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

You know the drill with a sponge – wet it, squeeze out excess water leaving just a tad of moisture, then pump out your foundation and dab it on your skin. With the Pamper Therapy Flawless Finish Sponge it’s great to rock it back and forth to blend. I’d never done that before and I think it’s a great method for application.

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

Pamper Flawless Finish Sponge

Here’s how you can use this latex-free sponge to fully take advantage of its versatility:

ROUNDED SIDE: This is great for covering large area. It blends your foundation with an even finish.

FLAT SIDE: If you want fuller coverage this is the side to use. Put on one coat and rock the sponge. Then top with another coat using this side.

POINTED TIP: This is how you can use the Pamper for concealer since using the tip is best for smaller areas like eyes and nose.

The foundation I first used with the Flawless Finish Sponge by Pamper is Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation. I had received this a while ago but set it aside in error. This was the perfect opportunity to try out the foundation. This lovely foundation is available in 9 shades. While it’s not the biggest range I love that they classify the colors by depth and (w)(c). I was sent the lightest shade, Pebble, which is a cool shade even though it first felt a little yellow when swatching it.

Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation is called Deep Sea Hydrating Complex. It infuses the hydrating complex and reduced salt deep-sea water, which is rich in ocean minerals and nutrients, into the formula. It’s a very hydrating foundation which will be better for me in the cooler months. Using the dampened Pamper sponge gives me a sheer application for summer.

The interesting thing about this is that I notice a fragrance when it’s on my hand but when I apply it, it’s gone in a minute. Look at these ingredients and what they do for you!

  • Rich in Minerals & Nutrients – Beautiful, radiant, well hydrated appearance
  • Calendula Extract – Healing and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Allantoin Extract – Promotes growth of healthy skin cells
  • Cucumber Extract – Imparts a cooling and soothing action
  • Green Tea Extract – Anti-aging ingredient to protect skin from free radical damage
  • Cactus Grandiflorus Extract – A healing agent to help retain moisture on the surface of the skin

The Zin and Zen of Youngblood Cosmetics

Youngblood Cosmetics Zen eyeshadow and Zin mineral blush

Youngblood Cosmetics Zen eyeshadow and Zin mineral blush

press sample

Some people are into yin and yang but I’m all about Zin and Zen. Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics knows how to get my attention with their eyeshadows and blushes. Since yin and yang are a combination of harmony and balance that makes the two products I’m showing you today the epitome of yin/yang since they work harmoniously together to balance my face.

Whenever products come my way the first ones that get tried are eyeshadows. I’ve worn Youngblood for several years and I’m always happy to try out new colors. Unfortunately there are only 7 shades of Pressed Individual Eyeshadows still being produced ($21 each but you can find them for less at Amazon and other sites) in matte, satin, and shimmer formulas. Youngblood has other eyeshadows with Perfect Pairs and Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quads so all is not lost.

Youngblood Zen Pressed Individual Eyeshadow

Youngblood Zen Pressed Individual Eyeshadow

ZEN is a shade I find irresistible. It’s a metallic shimmer but not over the top shimmery. I like to start with Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue though I don’t always remember. A primer is a necessity for me and the TF Glitter Glue keeps the shimmer from spreading. Now when I say ZEN is a shimmer shadow I don’t mean it’s a glitter shadow. I find it perfectly acceptable for day or night. It’s buttery soft and easy to apply. All Youngblood eyeshadows are hypoallergenic and made from 100% minerals.

Youngblood Zen Pressed Individual Eyeshadow

Youngblood Zen Pressed Individual Eyeshadow

ZEN is a khaki with a brown base. It makes an unusual smoky eye, a beautiful eyeliner, or a sensational crease color. The compact it comes in is wonderful since it has a magnetic closure and a nice size mirror.

Youngblood Zen and Zin

Youngblood Zen and Zin

Youngblood ZIN Pressed Mineral Blush is the perfect harmony blush for me when I wear darker shadows. ZIN is a soft mauve that’s almost a nude shade. It’s very pale looking in the compact but it has more color than it appears at first. There are 8 Pressed Mineral Blushes in Matte, Satin and Shimmer shades. ZIN is in the matte category which is wonderful when my eyes are strongly made up.

ZIN Younglood Mineral Pressed Blush

ZIN Younglood Mineral Pressed Blush

This subtle blush is just deep enough to make my face look balanced without any clown cheeks. When I use a big fluffy brush I can always do a light veil of ZIN on my entire face along with a stronger blush to take away the paleness when I’m looking ghostly (or ghastly).

Youngblood Zen eyeshadow and Zin mineral blush

Youngblood Zen eyeshadow and Zin mineral blush

Like Zen, it comes in the magnetic compact that feels so pleasing to shut. All Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are free of talc, oils, paraben and fragrance. Best of all – Youngblood is a cruelty free company.

Going Pantone pastel with Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Vintage Eyeshadow Quad and Pink Lust Lipstick

PANTONE-Color-of-the-Year-2016-v5-2732x2048

I was pleasantly suprised when I saw how light and pretty the the Pantone colors of th year were for 2016: Rose Quartz (pastel rose) and Serenity (pastel blue). They are beautiful shades that work just as well for winter as they do for summer. Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics sent me a few products that celebrate the Rose Quartz shade and I am totally loving them.

Youngblood Cosmetics Vintage and Pink Lust

Youngblood Cosmetics Vintage and Pink Lust

The Youngblood Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in Vintage ($43) is four shades of rose that make a perfect, classic eye look. The packaging is oh-so-chic and the eyeshadows have a smooth texture that is long-wearing. The Vintage Quad shades are:

  • Blush – a medium matte pink
  • Merlot – a deep, warm purple-plum
  • Bordeaux – a shimmery deep burgundy
  • Syrah – a soft dusty pink

I love pink eyeshadow as long as the pink isn’t too bright or too blue, and these are really perfect for some pop without looking like someone ‘popped’ you in the eye. I always use a primer and with one the eyeshadows last all day. If you are looking for some Serenity to complement your Rose Quartz, you should check out the Glamour Eyes Quad – the Stunning and Charming shades look perfect for a complete Pantone 2016 combo.

Youngblood Cosmetics Pink Lust

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Pink Lust Lipstick

For lips, Youngblood sent me their Lipstick in Pink Lust ($19). This is a light metallic pink/peach. It is extremely pretty and wears well. It has a nice slip that is comfortable and the metallic sheen is awesome for adding some depth and the illusion of size to my thin lips. Youngblood lipsticks include ingredients like sunflower oil, candellila wax, and vitamin E so lips are soft and hyrdated. In addition to Pink Lust, there are 22 other shades that come in a range of finishes including sheer, metallic, pearl, cream and matte.

The Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Vintage Eyeshadow Quad and Pink Lust Lipstick are great options for trying out the rose quartz side of the Pantone 2016 colors of the year – take a look, these pretty products are worth your consideration!  – Lisa

Looking for Pantone 2016? Here are some favorites from IT Cosmetics, Sally Hansen and Surratt Beauty

pantone colors of the year 2016pantone 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is sure that you’ve seen the above pictures of the new PANTONE COLORS OF THE YEAR 2016. Two pastels that make me very happy because they are shades that I can easily wear and want to own. I’ve always loved pink and I wear a lot of blue. Rose Quartz and Serenity will be featured in a lot of cosmetics and clothes, especially for spring. But let’s see what you can get right now.pantone makeup wars

Sally Hansen Pantone nail polishes

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Arm Candy and In Full Blue-m

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Arm Candy and In Full Blue-m

Sally Hansen has some terrific polishes that will be perfect for your Pantone needs. They include

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Sugar Fix, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in In Full Blue-m, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Set Sail

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Crème de la Crème, Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Arm Candy,  Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Petal Pusher

When wearing Sally Hansen I mostly use their Complete Salon Manicure polishes so I was thrilled to receive In Full Blue-m and Arm Candy.  Arm Candy is a sheer light pink that I needed three coats of to make sure that there wasn’t visible nail lines showing, I’d probably do better with 4 coats though since its quite sheer. In Full Blue-m is a grayed blue on me. It was a little beyond a typical pastel and is a great winter blue. With the Complete Salon Manicure polishes I get a long wear with great shine.

IT COSMETICS LIPSTICK AND LIP GLOSSES

IT Cosmetics is a great brand to turn to for a dose of Pantone 2016. There are 3 lip products that being considered this year’s shades: Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Flush, Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain, and New Anchor Blue Vitality Lip Flush Butter Gloss. That may be a mouthful but your mouth won’t care once you are wearing any of these.

IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Flush and Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain

IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Flush and Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain

We’ve talked about the Je Ne Sais Quoi line for quite a while. The Vitality Lip Flush is one I’ve used often. It looks almost clear in the tube but your body temperature and chemistry is what’s going to create the color. It’s the mood ring of lipstick. It has amazing hydration and a great shine so it bucks the matte trend (which is good news for me). It contains plum oil, cherry oil, shea butter, argan & jojoba, vitamins C&E, green & white tea and aloe.

Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain has similar qualities and ingredients. It has more shine and even more hydration if that’s possible to believe. There are 9 butters and oils that make up this formula. I found this adorable Your Je Ne Sais Quoi Set at Ulta that contains both the Lipstick and Gloss in an adorable bag for just $28. Total bargain. Total Pantone 2016.

News Anchor Blue Vitality Flush Butter Gloss is the most fun lipgloss ever. No you won’t have blue lips but your teeth will look whiter wearing this gloss. This applies on your lips as a teeny bit light blue but is really clear. It counteracts the yellow you might have on your teeth to make your smile look even brighter. If you are in love with hydrating glosses then IT Cosmetics is what you want on your shopping list.

SURRATT CULTIVE PRISMATIQUE LIPSTICK was one of my treats to myself during the VIB sale. I couldn’t resist this blue lipstick that turns opalescent pink once applied. It’s wonderful to apply over another lipstick to change that up too. I’m a big fan of the Surratt Prismatique lipsticks and just could resist this fun one.

Last is a product I don’t have but I am seriously eyeing,  YOUNGBLOOD GLAMOUR EYES PALETTE. I’ve seen this on a variety of blogs and I love the particular shades of blue in it. I like that they are paired with browns making it easy to wear. Glamour Eyes is the next palette on my list.

If you want the perfect pair, turn to Youngblood Cosmetics mineral eyeshadows

One of my favorite parts of the holidays are the amazing new collections and gift sets that become available. As an eyeshadow fanatic it’s a little like heaven on earth. Some eyeshadows that were released for winter 2015 (and beyond) are the YOUNGBLOOD PERFECT PAIR MINERAL EYESHADOW DUOS. There are 4 duos in total and I am the happy recipient of 3 of them.

Youngblood Perfect Pair Mineral Eyeshadow Duos

Youngblood Perfect Pair Mineral Eyeshadow Duos

These are the most silky soft shadows that I’ve used lately. The texture of these is extraordinary, they pick up on my brushes like a dream and apply so smoothly. Youngblood tells us that the ingredient that creates this silkiness is Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride with its antioxidant properties and skin naturing benefits. Who doesn’t want products on our faces, especially our tender eye area, that will condition and smooth our skin. That’s also why they use Lauroyl Lysine and Stevioside.

VIRTUE totally surprised me when I wore it. I was sure that the darker side (Passionate) would be too red on my eyes but it’s such a unique metallic cranberry that it’s stunning on. Pure is the matte white side. I can’t think of another matte white in my collection so it’s nice to have this shade now.

Youngblood Graceful

Youngblood Graceful

Youngblood Graceful

Youngblood Graceful

GRACEFUL also surprised me since I wouldn’t have thought to put together a cobalt blue with a coral. Azure, the cobalt shade, is a matte shade that isn’t as dark once on as it appears in the pan. Apricot is a beautiful satin light coral. Lately I’ve been loving this family for a bright lower lid look. Apricot stands out with Azure but it’s also terrific with the many neutrals and browns in your collection.

Youngblood Desire

DESIRE is my favorite of the trio. I am crazy about this duo, especially the purple. Iris, is a satin that can be built up to a beautiful depth or kept soft. It’s a blue based purple which is the way I want my purples to be. Pink Rose is the softest pink with maybe a tiny touch of lavender. It looks chalky on my swatch but that’s only because I had to put so much on to have the swatch show. Once on my eyes Pink Rose is just a touch pink and complements Iris perfectly.

Favorite products to get holiday ready

For Makeup Wars today we are sharing our favorites for holiday beauty. For my post it’s the products I recently used to go out for a special dinner and that I’ll be replicating on Thanksgiving when someone else (hallelujah) is hosting a very elegant dinner. Come along and see what my special items are.

Surratt Eyelash Curler

Surratt Eyelash Curler

During Sephora’s F&F sale I treated myself to a Surratt Beauty Relevee Eyelash Curler ($30). I already own lash curlers and use one daily or my eyes disappear, but the hype on this was so strong that I needed to try the Surratt one. It has its pros and cons but for me it’s mostly a pro.

I feel like my lashes are curled better than ever without having any crimps in them. The curl seems to last longer too. The problem with this is that it’s black and my eyelashes are very dark so it’s sort of a game using the lash curler. I can’t see if my eyelashes are in there straight so I just wait til it feels comfortable and squeeze; move it again and squeeze. So far so good.

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow Duo

As an eyeshadow base I used Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow in Champagne*.  This is one of the two liquid eyeshadows sold together on QVC ($34). I love both shades and wear them when I want some gorgeous shimmer that won’t wander – ever. On my non-oily lids I don’t need an eyeshadow primer since this does the job.

The swatches are applied heavily but on my eyes it becomes a sheer wash of color. My powder eyeshadows become even more vibrant and long lasting when using these as a base but these cream shadows are great all by themselves too.

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Right now I have a crush on Lorac Pro Metal Palette ($28). I bought this after seeing a review on Beauty Junkies Unite and knew it had to be mine. I love a high shine and these 8 shades do it right. Quartz is very white on me which is why the Wander Beauty base is better for my brow bone. I love Gilded‘s gold on my lid and Graphite‘s golden taupe in my crease. The palette in general though is fabulous with Rose Gold, Onyx (dark charcoal), Amber (copper), Clover (golden khaki), and Cobalt (navy). These shadows are like silk. This is limited edition so if you love these kinds of shadows be sure you check it out.

Youngblood Luminous Crme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme Blush in Taffeta is my favorite blush ever. I use up just about nothing cosmetic wise but I’m on my second pot of this. It’s a go-to blush for me that I feel is the perfect pink for my skin. I really didn’t think it could get better until Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick ($28)* came into my life.

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

The Jennifer Bradley Glow Stick is a light pink cream highlighter that can be used on cheeks, face and eyes. It’s got a luminous quality without a single drop of glitter or shimmer. It feels almost magical when applied. This comes in a plastic tube with a wand ball applicator that makes it easy to apply. It doesn’t migrate on my face. I’ve used it on my browbone, over a blush and on the cupid’s bow of my mouth. While it’s subtle, it gives a twinkle when you move your head certain ways or in some lights. It’s the perfect strobing product for people who want the glow without the fuss. I store mine upside down in a lipstick holder and shake it just before use.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox’s Brow Tech Gloss Stick ($21)* brings a new dimension to my quest for good eyebrows. I follow a blog (If Makeup Could Talk) and she always has the most amazing brow look. I never could figure out how to get my brows to look glossy like hers. I didn’t want anything sticky.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick – taupe on top, brunette on bottom

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick is the answer to my question. This wind up brow stick comes in 4 shades. I was sent both Taupe and Brunette. I can use them both but it’s Brunette that really gives me that special look. These are glossy without being over the top. They add a beautiful, non-sticky sheen to my eyebrows while filling them in well. I save these for nights out so that I can feel special when I’m trying to look my best.

Of course there’s more to it than these 6 products but this is gist of my favorite look lately. I feel it’s holiday ready and ups my everyday face to something more special. Each of these are products I can highly recommend.

Makeup Wars perks up your eyes

MAKEUP WARS is all about eyes today, expanding from the typical to the somewhat atypical. Ways to perk up your eye makeup can be as simple or bold as wearing a colorful mascara as well as changing up your eyeliner from your typical black or dark brown. I’ve chosen my favorite colorful eyeliners to share with you since a day without eyeliner for me is a day my eyes disappear.

STILA GOT INKED CUSHION EYE LINER is my new favorite eyeliner. Yes I do play favorites and right now the play is with these very cool cushion eye liners. This is a liquid eyeliner unlike any you’ve used. It comes in a pot with the liquid under a cushion top. Use your favorite brush (I prefer a very thin one) and press it onto the webbed sponge top and you’ve got your color. Stila compares it to using a calligraphy pen that you dip into the sponge. These don’t seem like they’ll spill. I first bought it in Smoky Quartz Ink and after using it twice I knew I needed another so along came Copper Ink. Both are within my comfort zone but on the edge of it. You can go thick or thin, you can draw cat eyes, you can do anything your heart desires and the color will last. It comes in 6 shades (Black Obsidian, Amethyst, Blue Sapphire, Garnet plus Smoky Quartz and Copper).

Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liners

Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liners

Smoky Quartz Ink is a pewter taupe that is metallic and will take on the colors of your eye makeup depending on the light. While there’s no glitter in it, it looks that way because of the high shine. When I wear this with a gold and khaki combination it seems to pick up that khaki undertone. Copper Ink isn’t quite as metallic but it’s far from flat. It’s stunning with a variety of browns but when it really looks unique is wearing it with eyeshadow in the navy family. Copper Ink is making me shop my stash for new looks.

I’m a huge fan of liquid eyeliners but they are not all created equal. The length and sturdiness of the brush are the keys for me finding the ones I love. While I don’t wear pencil eyeliners that often I’ve found that Pur Minerals (now Pur Cosmetics) has a combination that has the best of both worlds. DOUBLE EGO EYELINERS are liquid on one end and pencil on the other end. Use separately or combine for great looks.

Pur Minerals Double Ego liners

Pur Minerals Double Ego liners

Look at those colors! Milan (inky black), Tasmania (dark chocolate), Madagascar (black gold), Bora Bora (royal blue), Swiss Alps (cool pewter), Rio de Janeiro (deep plum), Bali (emerald green), and Queensland (aquatic teal). While I mostly wear Tasmania I’ve been known to wear Swiss Alps (pewter) and Rio de Janiero (plum) to shake it up a bit. These are amazing eyeliners.

Last but far from least on my list are the YOUNGBLOOD EYE-MAZING LIQUID EYELINER PENS. These are available in 5 shades that are beautiful and go beyond black. The brush is what makes these so wonderful. For me they glide on and last, rarely going astray. I’ve bought backups of Marron since it’s an amazing brown eyeliner. Gris (soft grey) and Verde (dark forest green) are unique to my eyeliner collection.
