Pai-Shau haircare – salon style hair at home

Pai-shau haircare product line

Pai-Shau haircare product line

Today is Top Ten Tuesday but I’m only sharing 5 products with you. I hope you’ll forgive me but Pai-Shau is such an outstanding line with unique ingredients that no other line wanted to share in the glory of it.

After being the CEO of Moraccanoil for over 10 years Mr. Pai-Shau Zohar Paz was on a trip to Vietnam and became fascinated with an ancient bathing ritual involving tea and decided to bring it back to North America. Pai-Shau haircare was later born using a Signature Exotic Tea Complex with advanced weightless technology. The Pai-Shau line has only been in existence for less than 1 year and salons across the continent are carrying and using this beneficial line made in Canada.

There are 5 products in the line meant to enrich, hydrate, and give nutrition to your hair. Pai-Shau infuses moisture with their exclusive tea antioxidants, vitamins B, C, and E, rice amino acids and oat proteins.

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL REPLENISHING HAIR CLEANSER:

Pai-shau Replenishing Hair Cleanser and Replenishing Cream Conditioner

Pai-Shau Replenishing Hair Cleanser and Replenishing Cream Conditioner

This shampoo is one of the most bubbly I’ve ever used. I barely need any product to wash my hair yet it provides oodles of suds that don’t strip my hair. It’s highly concentrate and is sulfate free so it protects my color treated hair. ($26)

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL REPLENISHING CREAM CONDITIONER is to be used in conjunction with their hair cleanser. The combination gives me a finish that is easy to comb through without weighing my hair down at all. At first it feels so lightweight that I was worried my hair would be tangly but that wasn’t the case. Just leave it on for a minute before rinsing; you won’t believe how nice your hair feels after. ($28)

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL SUPREME REVITALIZING MASK

Pai-shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-Shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-Shau Revitalizing Mask

This mask is so rich that I need just the smallest amount for my shoulder length hair. It’s a 5 minute mask so after washing my hair with the cleanser I apply this next, leaving it on while I’m doing other shower jobs. This mask has many jobs: anti-static, nourishing, hydrating, volume, and shine. It’s well worth the $30 cost (MSRP $43) since it will last you for so long. Like all of the haircare it contains the Signature Exotic Tea Complex. What makes this so unique is that in spite of it being a mask that you’d expect to flatten hair, it adds volume. It’s so effective that I only use it once every other week. My hair doesn’t need it more than that. I love that it comes with its own spatula to remove the product from the jar.

PAI-SHAU DESIGN RITUAL STYLE SOUFFLE

Pai-shau Style Souffle

Pai-Shau Style Souffle

I probably sound like a broken record by now but all the products from Pai-Shau have the uncommon characteristics of being lightweight, nourishing, and reparative. The Style Souffle is no exception to that. This is a light hairspray that you can use it on wet or dry hair. Use it on wet hair by working it through. Later use it on dry hair as a spray to help hold your hair in place. This is especially good for women who style their hair into a real style. Your hair will be soft and supple but you’ll have control and manageability.

PAI-SHAU ENHANCE RITUAL BIPHASIC INFUSION is the star of the show. This is the first product developed in the line and is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before.

Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion

Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion

Just like a bi-phase eye makeup remover, you have to shake this to activate the ingredients. The contents need to be blended and once they are it’s like releasing a genie from the bottle to work her special skills on your hair. This redefines the word “weightless”. At first when you put it on your hand to distribute it through your tresses, it feels a little sticky. But that feeling is gone before you know it and your hair doesn’t even feel like you’ve added anything to it. But the magic has begun and your hair will be shinier, more manageable, vital, smooth, and resistant to frizz and breakage. This is the best product in the line and the reason I keep using it.

Pai-Shau has some wonderful attributes like being free of gluten, parabens, sulfates, phosphates, and no added sodium chloride (the killer of a keratin treatment). It’s also cruelty free, vegan friendly, and residue free. The only problem I have with the line is the fragrance since it’s on the strong side. It took me a while to get used to the scent but I’ve read how others are mesmerized by it. I notice the fragrance for a few hours after I wash my hair but by mid-afternoon I’ve forgotten about it. Plus I like the results so much that I’m willing to ignore my nose.

If you are like I am you love trying new brands of haircare to see the difference it can make in the way your hair looks. Pai-Shau is the next brand to put on your list to try. I think you’ll be surprised like I was.  — Marcia

I hope you’ll join the other Top Ten ladies – maybe they won’t cheat!!

Top Ten Eyeshadow Primers

It’s Top Ten Tuesday time and our topic is primers this week. It will come as no surprise to regular Beauty Info Zone readers that my list is all about Eyeshadow Primers. It’s not that I don’t have enough facial primers to use for our topic but I’m a little nuts (or maybe a lot) and have this need to have all the eyeshadow primers available. While 10 are mentioned here I have more that I like but maybe not quite as much as these.

Eyeshadow Primers come in all prices which I’m demonstrating for you today with versions that range from $2 to $32. Price isn’t always the determining factor when it comes to this type of product. My $2 primer from E.L.F. works almost as well as my $20 Too Faced primers. The important thing to me is to use an eyeshadow primer every time I do my eyes. Primer is meant to even out skintone, make the colors last without creasing, help eyeshadow colors go on more evenly, and create a more vibrant look.

Top 10 eyeshadow primers

Top 10 eyeshadow primers

$1-$2  E.L.F. SHADOW LOCK EYELID PRIMER || There are 3 shades of this primer available. Right now E.L.F. is having a moving sale so the colors left are available for $1 but normally they are $2. My favorite is Champagne (there’s also Sheer and Pearl) because it is a light taupe/champagne shade adding some interest without a bit of shimmer.

$6.49  MILANI EYESHADOW PRIMER || This is one of my very favorite primers. I usually look for a sale on it and pick up 2 at a time. It took me a while too appreciate it since it’s thick at first but I learned to love it after running out of Too Faced Shadow Insurance once and now I always have one handy.

$6.99  NYX EYESHADOW BASE  ||  My only pot eyeshadow primer although that’s all I used to use. This has good points and bad. I’m not a fan of the pot itself. For someone with long nails it’s just a pain. I bought this in Pearl because I wanted the tiny bit of pearly shimmer which makes this worth getting out a taklon brush to apply it. It’s stiff and doesn’t go on as easily as a cream product but it does the job well and Ulta often has sales on NYX. This is also available in white and skintone.

Milani, NYX, ELF eyeshadow primers

Milani, NYX, ELF eyeshadow primers

$15  em cosmetic eyeshadow primer  ||  No one ever talks about em cosmetics anymore. This Michelle Phan line came out with a bang but it’s whimpering away. Out of all the products I’ve bought from the line this is the stand out. There’s a slight gleam to it that peeks through and makes eyeshadow more vibrant. I’d buy this again without a doubt.

em cosmetics eyeshadow primer

$18  bareMinerals PRIME TIME EYESHADOW PRIMER  ||  This is a great primer but it’s really small. It’s a perfect size for travel though but I’m going through this pretty quickly for home use. I wish I didn’t like it this much or that the price wasn’t quite this high. My shadows stay so well when I’m using it.

bareMinerals eyeshadow primer

bareMinerals eyeshadow primer

$20  TOO FACED SHADOW INSURANCE  ||  This is the eyeshadow primer that changed the game. It’s the most talked about, that’s for sure. Be sure you shake it before using it the first time and then again about once a week. It can come out watery which you want to avoid. TFSI is the one I use the most because I can really rely on it. I know it will keep me creasefree under all conditions.

$20  TOO FACED SHADOW INSURANCE CANDLELIGHT  ||  Too Faced created a few more of their Shadow Insurance to meet the needs of everyone. The one I have is Candlelight which is a bright gold that just lights up my eyes. There are days I’ll put Candlelight on my lids, TFSI original on my brow bone, and a beautiful brown toned shadow in the crease. There’s no glitter in Candlelight but it is a bright shimmery gold. If I wore more glitter eyeshadows I’d buy TF Glitter Glue Shadow Primer since I know the quality of the brand.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight and original

$21  LORAC BEHIND THE SCENES EYE PRIMER  ||  I don’t know why everyone isn’t shouting about this from their rooftops. It’s a fabulous eyeshadow primer. There was a small one in my LORAC Pro Palette and once I used it I knew I needed it in a full size. It’s $1 more than the Too Faced but it’s considerably bigger so there’s more bang for your buck. It has a slant tip opening which can get a little messy but I usually squeeze it out on my hand to apply rather than directly on my eye. I’m telling you – you are missing out on a gem if you don’t have this primer.

Lorac Behind the Scenes eyeshadow primer

Lorac Behind the Scenes eyeshadow primer

$29  BENEFIT AIR PATROL  ||  I had no intention of buying this because it’s obvious I don’t need another primer in my life. But I got a sample that lasted me for a few days and that sold me. This is very yellow which is why I wasn’t going to buy it. But once I used it I realized that the color wasn’t an issue once applied. This is considered to be a BB Cream Eyelid Primer and it has broad spectrum SPF 20 which I’m happy about. The tip is different since it’s a “cushion calm” tip that is exceptionally soft. A little goes a long way with this so I expect it to last a good amount of time.

Benefit Air Patrol eyeshadow primer

Benefit Air Patrol eyeshadow primer

$32  EDWARD BESS ILLUMINATING EYESHADOW BASE  ||  Edward Bess was my splurge item. I bought it much before the Benefit so even though the prices aren’t too far different I knew it was a splurge. It comes in three shades (Dune, Cashmere, Suede). Cashmere was my choice and I’m happy that I bought it. It looks a lot like a concealer with its brush applicator. Once I let it dry shadows really adhere to it. Anytime I have a poor performing shadow I turn to this Illuminating Base since I know if it doesn’t work with this, then the shadow just isn’t going to work. It’s worth the extra money even if I save it for special days.

I have other eyeshadow primers that I like (Urban Decay, Make Up For Ever, and IT Cosmetics for example) but they don’t get used as often as these 10. I know not everyone needs 10+ eyeshadows in their life but I’m obsessed and obviously obsessive! — Marcia

Favorite spring beauty from Pixi Beauty and Pur Cosmetics

Spring Beauty Treats with Pixi Beauty and Pur Cosmetics

Spring Beauty Treats with Pixi Beauty and Pur Cosmetics

Today is a Top Ten Tuesday post. With a topic as wide as Spring Beauty it could be a top 50 without a problem. To narrow it down I’ve picked some Pixi Beauty and Pur Cosmetics items that I’m already enjoying and will continue to do so throughout spring (and surely summer).

Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palettes in Amethyst Aura and Aquamarine Dream; Book of Beauty in Minimal Makeup

Here are the eye palettes that are going to make your spring – Pixi by Petra goes from subtle to bold without skipping a beat. There are 9 Mesmerizing Mineral Palettes ($12) that will make any of your color dreams come true. Amethyst Aura has every shade of purple you’ll need ranging from a light pinky lavender to a very dark purple. The shadows are all satiny shades that all purple lovers will be delighted with. Aquamarine Dream is a brighter palette that calls for sun and water. These aren’t pastels, instead they are bright shades that in the aqua and blue family. Think of the depths of the Caribbean and all those shades are within Aquamarine Dream.

But not everyone is into brights or, as in my case, likes to switch around. Their new Book of Beauty in Minimal Makeup ($24) is incredible. This has everything you need for soft spring beauty. There’s nothing to be afraid of here. This is what I’d grab for a spring break trip. It contains 8 luscious soft coordinated shades: 2 double pans of eyeshadow, peachy pink blush, light bronzer/blush, and 2 lightly sparkly highlighters. The eyeshadows are peach and brown, pink and bronze.

This is truly a find for me since lately I’ve been craving softer colors. The peach and bronze eyeshadows are just what I love and the four blush and highlighter shades are great day or night.

Pixi also has other great eye products. They recently came out with the full size Endless Silky Eye Pen in Slate Gray. Before it was only available in a small set. This dark gray is a much softer alternative to black. Pixi Silky Eye Pens ($12) are the best eyeliner pencils and I always recommend them. To brighten my eyes I like to use Pixi’s Eye Bright Liner in Nude ($14). This is for your inner eyelid to give you that wide awake look.

Besides eyes Pixi has some of my favorite lip products. Brand new is Nourishing Lip Polish ($12) that I’m crazy about. This is a lip scrub that also plumps but without any irritation at all. It tastes sugary and my lips are hydrated from this all day. The applicator has small bristles that massage your lips to help with circulation. “Luxe, nutrient-rich formula smoothes lips with shea butter & a blend of sweet almond, apricot, and evening primrose oils.” It’s great for rejuvenating lips and healing them too. Totally crazy about this Nourishing Lip Polish!! I’ve been a fan of Pixi’s Tinted Brilliance Balm since I got my first one in a beauty subscription. Lucent Glow is one of my favorites and I’m on my second one. While there are 11 shades I like that I can use Lucent Glow over any lipstick to add a luminous rose gold shimmer. It changes a winter lipstick into a softer spring one.

Pixi Beauty has gotten into skincare in a big way this year and one of their newest products, Hydrating Milky Mist ($15), is so unusual and will be great for warm weather. It’s a spray on mist moisturizer that is perfect for dry skin. It contains Hyaluronic Acid (my hero ingredient) and Black Oat for deep moisture and a youthful preserve. I can definitely use both. You can keep this in your purse or desk to add a mist of moisture during the day.

“This featherlight mist provides an instant surge of hydration with hyaluronic acid to plump skin. A blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid makes this rejuvenator the perfect first layer of moisture before serums or makeup.”

Pur Cosmetics has some great items for spring and I happily received two to test out. I’ve just had them for one use but I’m excited about them both and can’t wait for longer term use. Hydra Fluid ($39) is their newest foundation and it’s a water serum one. The texture is different than what you are probably used to using so you’ll be surprised at first. The coverage is wonderful while being very lightweight. I shook it up and put only 3 drops on the back of my hand and that turned out to be enough for my entire face. I buffed it in using a circular motion with my foundation brush and plan on trying my beauty sponge next. I’ll be doing a full review on Hydra Serum once I have more time to use it.

Pur’s Fully Charged Mascara ($22) is one I’m very excited about. If my first day of use is an example of how this performs, all the other mascaras that are open are going on a vacation now. More to come on this mascara too.

“This anti-aging mascara formula contains a revolutionary positively charged matrix that attracts to each individual lash to strengthen, thicken, lengthen and separate for unparalleled performance.”

Favorite setting products – powders and sprays

Do you have products that help you finish your makeup each day? That’s what Top Ten Tuesday is about this week. There are some great products available for this job and I’ve picked the favorites that I’ve used. When I’m done I hope you’ll share some of yours with me.

I have to start with IT COSMETICS since I talk about the brand all the time. The product that I’ve used up twice is IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES aka Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder. Once I discovered this powder I stopped using the drawer full I had from Laura Mercier, Kevyn Aucoin, and more. I still use those occasionally but they aren’t in my top ten! Silky soft and it does blur my pores just like it says it will.

Once they came out with Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder I had to buy that too.  This pressed powder is great for travel and on the go.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish Powder is fabulous. I love this powder and am currently on my second one. Powder takes forever and a day for me to finish so the fact that I’ve gone through one and a half jars of this speaks for itself. Diamond Finish sets my makeup, blurs my pores, and gives me a beautiful finish that isn’t matte.

One more loose powder in this group: Pixi Beauty Quik Fix Powder in Translucid wins for the best packaging as well as being a great powder. This is very lightweight and invisible on my skin. It contains great ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber extract to smooth along with grape extract which acts as an antioxidant.

Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is really a cheat since it’s not a powder or a spray but it’s a staple in my cosmetic wardrobe. It has a very unusual texture and gives a matte finish. It’s wonderful for blurring fine lines and pores. There’s no dryness like powder can give.

Now on to the sprays. Skindinavia has two sprays that I have to recommend: Makeup Primer Spray and the Makeup Finishing Spray are both wonderful. Other brands like Urban Decay sell these but they are made by Skindinavia. The Primer Spray is just like it sounds. Spray this one after your skincare is on and it helps deliver a smoother finish for your foundation. The Finishing Spray is to be applied after all your makeup is on and it helps keep your makeup in place for the day. It’s especially great for being outdoors. They even make this in Oil Control and a Bridal version.

A much less expensive version is  Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray at Walmart. This is only $6.30 compared to the $30ish prices of Skindinavia. It’s not bride proof but it’s a good way to see if a spray is for you.

When I was in the midst of hot flashes I relied on Youngblood Minerals in the Mist. I was at IMATS and I looked like someone had dropped a bucket of water on me. I was shopping at Youngblood and they recommended it in Refresh for me and it saved the trip. I carried it around with me to refresh my skin. I’ve since used it up but if I ever go through that misery again, I’d repurchase.

Beauty tips, beauty hacks, beauty helpers

TOP TEN TUESDAY has an interesting topic this week. Beauty Hacks is the official name this week which I see as beauty helps. I was initially reluctant to do this but as I started coming up with ideas, I realized it was fun!! I hope you have fun reading this and hopefully learning a new tip you weren’t familiar with.  — Marcia

1)  My number one tip is a microfiber cloth. I’ve become addicted to my microfiber cloth so much that I have spares. I use mine to clean brushes. What you want is a nubby cloth that’s not too hard. The yellow one in this picture is perfect. There’s enough texture to it that you can gently rub your brushes onto it and the color is removed. I clean all the brushes I use with powder products on this so I only have to wash my brushes biweekly. Saves me time and I just throw it in the laundry with my clothes, lay it out to dry, and I’m done. They dry quickly too. The ones I have are from Scotch but I think other brands would work well too.

2) Speaking of washing brushes, this is where Johnson’s Baby Shampoo comes in. I’ve used this for years as an alternative to a brush cleaner. If you run out of your brush cleaner or just don’t want to spend the money, try this gentle shampoo. I pour a small amount in a plastic cup without adding water. I swirl my brush/es around making sure that the product gets out. Next I pour that out, add some water, and swirl until the water runs clean. Don’t put too much shampoo in since it’s not needed. Next dab on a towel to get rid of the excess water, lay to dry, and VOILA – clean and nice smelling brushes.

Johnson's Baby Shampoo

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo

3)  Tip 3 is also using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and this comes from my ophthalmologist. He recommends washing my eye makeup off with this shampoo. I don’t do that since I find mascara too stubborn. But I do have a small bottle of this in my shower and wash my eyes with it then. What my doctor recommended too is that any time my eyes bother me or I feel something building up that’s the time to use this gentle “no more tears” shampoo. He told me this over 20 years ago and knock-on-wood it’s been a perfect tip.

4) Everyone has tips for Vaseline Jelly. It’s been around longer than any of us have been and is used so many ways. While I haven’t tried it as an eye makeup remover, I’ve read that people do use it this way. One of the ways I use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is when I color my own hair. I pull my hair back, apply Vaseline around the edges of my face so that my skin doesn’t pick up the color. I also put it on my earlobes. As I’m washing the color out, I’m also washing away the Vaseline. Other uses are to protect skin against chafing and helping with dry skin.

Vaseline Jelly Original

Vaseline Jelly Original

5) A product I like even more than Vaseline is Waxelene which is an alternative to petroleum jelly. This makes a wonderful lip balm especially when your lips are horribly chapped. Waxelene is non-petroleum based, all natural, eco friendly, biodegradable, and has no GMOs. If you cut yourself shaving, apply Waxelene on it to stop the bleeding and help the healing. It really works. I also like to use this on the cracks on my feet. waxelene jar2

6)  Carbonated Water is your friend too. Two beauty related ways to use carbonated water or seltzer are on your hair. If you suffer from frizzy hair, use carbonated water as your final rinse water. It won’t remove the frizz entirely but it will help reduce it. Also if you are in a chlorinated pool, rinse your hair after with carbonated water. It will restore luster to your locks especially if you color treat your hair.

7) Elmer’s Glue can help you when you manicure your nails. To get a clean edge use an old brush and paint around the edge of your nails, let it dry, and then do your manicure. When done just peel off the glue and your nails will look like you had them done. There are more expensive products that are sold for this job but why not use a product that you probably have in your house or can use for lots of other uses?

Elmer's Glue

Elmer’s Glue

8)  No need to buy a fragranced body lotion when you can do double duty with your favorite unscented body lotion. My suggestions are Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion Fragrance Free and Delectable Scent Free Body Lotion. Just add the fragrance of the day to your body lotion and you won’t clash. Perfume companies charge a lot for their fragranced body lotions and a lot of times they are too strong. You can get the strength you want this way and be sure you like wearing it all over.

Delectable Scent Free Body Lotion

9)  What happens when you buy a mascara that you just don’t like? Sometimes it’s not the mascara but it’s the wand. Here’s a way to get double duty out of mascara wands you really like. When time is up for your mascara toss it but keep the wand. Wash it well and put it aside. You’ve got it ready now to repurpose it with a different mascara. You won’t be able to screw it in so keep the original wand but you’ll have a favorite wand to revive a mascara that just wasn’t cutting it.

repurpose your old mascara wands

repurpose your old mascara wands

10) More to do with mascara wands

* use it as an eyebrow spoolie, you really don’t have to buy a separate spoolie since you can repurpose

* spray it with hair spray to hold down those little flyaways that are static prone

* a clean mascara wand can help separate your lashes before applying mascara. Instead of allowing them to clump together naturally, comb through first.

* is your gray showing at your temples? Add color to the wand and cover it up. A matte eyeshadow that matches your hair color would work for a day.

Which is your favorite hack from this list? Is there a tip you can share?

Looking for a little luxury for the holidays? Look at these incredible beauty products

TOP TEN TUESDAY is all about Luxury today. We’ve all done our affordable wishlists, stocking stuffers, and helped you pick out some new items. So now it’s time to make a real wish for luxury. You never quite know when those wishes will come true!!

1450057833__11337282TOM FORD LIPS AND BOYS 10 LIPSTICK SET ($350). Tom Ford lipsticks are my all time favorite brand. They do keep raising the price on these but I can’t seem to resist them. The Lips and Boys lipsticks luckily are less money at $35 each but they are a lot smaller. I don’t really care. I never use up a lipstick and if I can wear one that makes me feel this good, I will splurge on it. For a limited time Tom Ford came out with this 10 Lipstick Set that contains Ian, Beau, Julian, Addison, Leonardo, Demsey, David, Egon, Daniel and Theo. You’ll get a touch of everything with this luxurious set.

1450057884__10998098CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN SILKY SATIN LIP COLOR ($90) is the lipstick that dreams are made of. It was certainly a revelation to the cosmetic world when Christian Louboutin chose to charge $90 for a lipstick. I wouldn’t wear it as a necklace even though it comes with a black satin ribbon for that purpose but I sure wouldn’t mind pulling this lipstick out at a soiree.
1450057940__9515423CHARLOTTE TILBURY THE UPTOWN GIRL SET ($230) will bring you a touch of so many products that Charlotte Tilbury gets raves for. There are several sets and all are gorgeous. This new palette includes the Celestial Powder in Candlelight, The Sculpting Powder in Medium, The Essential Eye Shadows in Ice Gold, Champagne, Wheat, Camel, Coco, Dark Chocolate, Beige, Peach, Light Grey, Pewter, Espresso, and Black. The Anniversary Set includes an updated release of the popular Brush 01 (limited edition) and introduces the new Brush 05 which will become a permanent addition to The Collection. Sigh!
1450058153_charlotte-tilbury-complete-brush-kitCHARLOTTE TILBURY THE COMPLETE BRUSH KIT ($320) is something that would also make my heart go pitter patter. I love brushes and in spite of owning more than anyone could use, I still covet them. This set contains a CT makeup bag, lip brush,  eyeliner brush, eyeshadow smudger brush, eye blender brush, foundation brush, powder & sculpt brush, blush brush and bronzer brush. There’s nothing like luxury brushes.

1450058321__9413718CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN ROUGE COLLECTION NAIL LACQUER is available in a dozen colors and I’m sure they are wonderful and luxurious but they are $50 each. If someone wants to buy me one, I’m game! I promise to wear it often too.

1450058449__11271685LA MER THE TREATMENT ESSENTIALS ($415) is a limited edition set that contains Creme de La Mer Moisturizing Cream, Regenerating Serum, Eye Concentrate, and the Treatment Lotion. When I first started using Creme de La Mer it blew my budget and now I realize it’s not the most expensive brand out there. So consider this as the “save”.

1450058747_giftsets_superdeluxe__35755.1430427073.380.380ERA AGELESS LUXURY SET – I might as well go for the top of the line. I reviewed the ERA AGELESS EYE SERUM and loved it enough that I’m craving the line even though it’s out of my current budget. But since this is a wishlist then this $2165.99 set (on sale from $2549.95) would make me quite happy. It contains the Firm & Lift Serum, Age Defying Moisture Cream, Elastin and Beta Carotene Mask, Triple Thermal Mask and the Powerful Deep Wrinkle Filler. ERA Ageless has other less expensive sets too that would make me just as happy.

My favorite foundations for winter – Top 10 Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday has rolled around again and I’m excited to be sharing my favorites for foundation. I have more than on my list but just as important as my favorites are my two tools of choice so that took two spots. I purposely left out CC Creams even though I will use them in the winter but I wanted to stick with foundations for a change.

These are in no particular order. These are all sitting on my vanity right now! I may not be neat but I’m happy!!
1.
BOBBI BROWN INTENSIVE SKIN SERUM FOUNDATION is pretty new to me and pretty impressive too. It has SPF 40 in it and is available in 18 shades plus it’s very forgiving. I’ve been wanting a serum foundation and the one I bought from Armani a few years ago never felt right. The makeup artist I went to loves this foundation and gave me a sample. That brought me back to buy it. It’s very lightweight and you wouldn’t expect it to hide imperfections but it does. It feels great on my skin too.
2.
TOO FACED BORN THIS WAY ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FOUNDATION just moved into my house last week. I keep reading about it and Sephora F&F finally put me over the edge. I’ve worn it twice which really isn’t enough to put it on a list but both times I was quite happy with the way it looked and lasted. This $38 foundation comes in 18 shades and is oil-free. I love that it has ingredients to help with hydration (coconut water and hyaluronic acid are two).
3.
IT COSMETICS O2 O2 ULTRA REPAIR LIQUID OXYGEN FOUNDATION ($38) was my foundation favorite of the year for 2014 and remains a favorite 11 months later. I’m a huge fan of IT Cosmetics but with all brands some products are better than others. This is a ‘better than others’ foundation. Fair matches me perfectly but it only is available in 5 shades which might be a problem for some. One of the biggest reasons to love IT is their anti-aging ingredients (Peptides, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Niacin, Hyaluronic Acid and Grape Seed Oil plus Vitamins A, C, & E). This is actually a serum foundation which I didn’t realize until I was typing this up!!
4.
SENNA LASTING ILLUSION FOUNDATION* has been one that I’ve counted on for an airbrushed finish for almost two years. This is a fuller coverage than most of the others I own and there are many days and occasions that I crave that coverage. It’s a matte satin that reflects light away from imperfections. Senna isn’t talked about enough but in my opinion people are missing out on this great Hollywood indie brand. ($48, 7 shades)
5.
MALLY BEAUTY EFFORTLESS AIRBRUSH PERFECT SKIN MOUSSE is another foundation that people need to know about. One of the problems with Mally Beauty is that it’s hard to find – all the great places that carry the line only carry parts of Mally. This is only sold at Mally’s website and it’s worth it to shop there. The coverage with this mousse is perfection. I need so little but I could build it up if necessary. Plus it comes with a fabulous foundation brush that feels wonderful and works like a dream ($45*).
6.
GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION – there are no words for this foundation. I’ve gone through 3 bottles since I started using it and I’m sure to go through more. It’s available in 23 shades and it’s worth every penny of the $62 cost to me. It’s weightless and oil-free and the coverage is like silk.
7.
RIMMEL LONDON LASTING FINISH FOUNDATION is the opposite in cost from Armani and not similar to it in finish, but it’s the best drugstore foundation I’ve ever bought. The problem with drugstores is being unable to test colors but I got lucky with O91 Light Ivory. At first I noticed a perfumey fragrance but once applied I noticed it for about 15 seconds and never again. If you are looking for great coverage to last through the day and you have $6.99 laying around, this is what to spend it on.
8.
GERI G INNOCENT FOUNDATION isn’t known at all. I just reviewed it again along with their Transceutical Canvas so I hope that this comes more to the forefront. It’s a medium coverage that can be built up. On the days I’m looking a little worse for the wear, I turn to this to make my skin look its best. The downside is that it only comes in 4 shades and the swatches on the website aren’t really helpful. ($38)
9.
BEAUTY BLENDER SPONGE is amazing. Don’t accept imitations. I don’t care that it’s $20 while others are much less, this is the one that works. It now comes in many colors like the new royal purple. The black one is called the Pro one but I don’t think it’s any different than my pink ones. Trust me when I tell you that this could change your makeup application.
10.
ARTIS OVAL 10 ELITE BRUSH* has become holy grail to me. It changes your paradigm about what a foundation brush is and you won’t want to look back. The softness, the bristles (2500 of them!), the ergonomics, and the luxuriousness of this $72 brush make it worth the high cost. If was told I could just take a few items out of my house this would be high up on the list. It’s that precious. Review here.
