Lisa’s top five favorite repurchases!

Lisa's Top Five RepurchasesI don’t just repurchase my most favorite items. I am a little OCD, so I’m always afraid of running out. I repurchase my favorites in bulk. So whatever I know I can’t live without, I simply make sure I will never have to!! I have at least three or four extras waiting in the wings at all times. Here are my top five repurchases that have lots of brothers and sisters waiting their turn on my shelves.

Paula's Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover

Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover

  1.  Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover ($16):  This is the very best makeup remover I have ever tried and I buy this four bottles at a time whenever there is a sale. I usually wear full coverage foundation and my skin tends to break out especially in my t-zone. So I take cleansing very seriously, and the first step is always makeup remover. This dual-phase liquid makeup remover needs to be shaken first. After squirting some onto a cleansing pad you wipe off makeup prior to cleansing. It removes everything, even waterproof mascara and the most tenacious lipstick. It’s completely safe to use on eyes, and it leaves skin feeling moist and hydrated but not oily or greasy.

    Creation Pharm Jewelweed Topical Mist

    Creation Pharm Jewelweed Topical Mist

  2. Creation Pharm Jewelweed Topical Mist ($12.95) Creation Pharm has a store in Traverse City,Michigan and you can find the line in person in lots of cool little stores all over Michigan. They have amazing soaps, oils, tanning lotions, bath products, and skin care. Jewelweed Topical Mist keeps my skin clear and is the best thing I’ve ever tried for keeping blackheads and acne at bay. It also clears up just about any other sort of skin condition you can think of – any itchy, rashy skin like Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, food allergies, and even bug bites. My brother was playing softball and he accidentally grabbed some knee pads that had mold in them. During the game, he slid into home and scratched up his leg. Two days later he had the most horrible infection in his leg, and after three weeks of treatment by doctors it was just getting worse. I gave him my precious bottle of Jewelweed Topical Mist and his leg immediately began to heal. Three days later it was all cleared up. He won’t give me back my bottle. I guess I can’t really blame him. The ingredients in this secret weapon include extracts of Jewelweed, White Oak Bark, Comfrey Leaf, Witch Hazel and Aloe. Native Americans used Jewelweed because it has a natural antihistamine in it that is very quick and totally effective. I use my Jewelweed Topical Mist for so many things that I always have extras on hand.  My son has very sensitive skin that will get itchy for seemingly no reason, my husband gets welts on his skin from heat rash, and my daughter is always getting scraped up. Jewelweed Topical Mist takes care of all those issues, plus it truly is the best toner I have ever used.

Dan Read Cosmetics Silver Screen Foundation

Dan Read Cosmetics Silver Screen Foundation

  3. Dan Read Cosmetics Silver Screen Foundation ($33.50) Dan Read Cosmetics is a fantastic niche boutique line with one of the best full coverage foundations available. This is a cream to powder foundation that is well-known among stage and film performers because it lasts through anything. It’s bulletproof. Hot lights, wet weather, long workouts – this foundation holds up like a champ. It corrects uneven skin tone, dark under eye circles, red areas, any problem you’ve got, and it looks natural. It is extremely pigmented so you don’t even need a separate concealer. I always have four shades – my winter color is Soft Ivory 3, which is my lightest shade. Natural 1 is my typical shade, and I use Natural 2 and Natural 3 when I faux tan. Silver Screen Foundation is available in a shimmer version that I also always have on hand. When I travel, this is the foundation I take with me every time.

    Guerlain Terracotta Spray

    Guerlain Terracotta Spray

  4. Guerlain Terracotta Spray ($64)  So, this is spendy, I know. But wow is it awesome. It’s not even perfect — the aerosol sometimes gets gummed up – but I have never gotten the same utterly fabulous bronzed glow with any other product, ever. It makes my skin look perfect. The spray is super light and the effect is freaking fantastic. This is a secret weapon that I am happy to share. Once you try this you will never ever want to be without it again. By the way, I honestly don’t find there to be much difference between the Light and Medium shades.

    Coconut Hut Coconut Oil

    Coconut Hut Coconut Oil

  5. Coconut Hut Coconut Oil in various scents ($17, I have slathered this body oil on for years and years…I remember I found it way back when I first discovered the Internet, so it’s been a while! I just love this little Hawaiian body product boutique. I get different scents all the time, but they are always some variation of coconut. Some of my all time favorites are Coconut Kanantik, Tahitian Black Coconut, and Beach Goddess, and I am currently loving the limited edition Hawaiian Tropics, a mix of coconut milk and dark tanning oil.

I’m so happy to share my top five repurchases with you!  I hope you find something that works for you…and I would love to know what your favorites are too!! – Lisa

Start your year with PÜR Cosmetics for some purely great skincare and cosmetics

There are so many products from #PURBEAUTY that get overlooked in our rush to share the latest and greatest. Since it’s a new year we decided that it’s time to share some of these with you to start the year off properly. We have 5 products that get overlooked but shouldn’t.                                                                     samples

There are three steps in the PÜR skincare family. Step one is In The Clear Clarifying Cleanser.

PÜR In The Clear Clarifying Cleanser

PÜR In The Clear Clarifying Cleanser

“Clear skin starts here. In The Clear is a multi-action cleanser that gently exfoliates with lactic acid, clarifies with tea tree oil and soothes extra oily, irritable and problem-prone skin. This clarifying cleanser calms and cools with lavender, peppermint and aloe vera, and is never harsh or over-drying.”

Step 2 is PÜR Dirty Girl, a great detoxifying mudd masque.

PÜR Dirty Girl

PÜR Dirty Girl

Marcia says: This is a great mudd masque. It contains Pascalite Clay which really helps to detoxify skin. It’s great for pore cleansing. I get clogged pores which make them look larger than I prefer so using a mud masque is perfect for clarifying them and keeping the ickies at bay.

PÜR Dirty Girl

PÜR Dirty Girl

PÜR uses soothing botanicals along with this detoxifying pascalite clay. It contains Calcium Bentonite to unclog pores and eliminate impurities; Cucumber Extract to soothe and calm the skin; and Salicylic Acid to gently exfoliate and renew.

PÜR Dirty Girl first applied

It dries down quickly. It doesn’t crack off though it does feel dry once set. You decide how long you want to keep it on – from 5 to 20 minutes. I usually leave it on for 10 minutes.

PÜR Dirty Girl dried

I have to use a washcloth to completely remove it and then follow with a toner like Step 3.

Step 3 is Miracle Mist, to hydrate and set.

Pur Cosmetics Miracle Mist Hydrate and Set

Lisa says: Miracle Mist is a hydrating spray that also helps set makeup. It has over 70 essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids to pamper your skin. I find that I prefer it for setting mineral makeup over any other type of makeup – it’s pretty impressive for giving a polished appearance, giving mineral foundation and eyeshadow a fresh appearance and extending wear time.

  • Contains over 70 essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids
  • Instantly infuses the skin with vital moisture
  • Soothes and refreshes dry skin and hair with fulvic acid
  • Locks down mineral makeup for all-day perfection

If you have extremely dry skin this is a great product. It’s also very helpful for those times when powder makeup looks a little too powdery. If you need lots of hydration and love mineral makeup, Miracle Mist is effective, refreshing, and convenient to use.

Now that you know about these skincare items there’s a set that you can get to try them all out. It’s a PÜR Skincare Starter Set at ULTA that is only $29 and contains Simplicity Soothing Gentle Cleanser (0.5 oz.), Soak It Up Intense Hydrating Moisturizer (0.5 oz.), Miracle Mist Hydrate & Set (1.0 oz.), and Dirty Girl Detoxifying Mudd Masque (0.5 oz.). A great way to start a new year and refresh your skin.

PÜR Skincare Sampler Set

PÜR Skincare Sampler Set

Lisa says: While Marcia is getting her skin care on, I am getting my makeup on with PUR Volume Vixen 4-in-1 Full Volume Mascara with Keratin and Chateau Kisses Lip Gloss in Glitzy.

Volume Vixen 4-in-1 Full Volume Mascara with KeratinVolume Vixen 4-in-1 Full Volume Mascara with KeratinVolume Vixen 4-in-1 Full Volume Mascara with Keratin ($21): This is my go-to mascara. I only need one coat for tons of drama. I love the separation, the fullness, and the length – plus this jet black mascara doesn’t smudge. I also love how my lashes are soft, not stiff, which I think is a much more attractive look. Do lashes really look as good as false eyelashes like the claim? Not really, but they are as close as I’ve ever gotten with a mascara. This is a real winner.
Chateau Kisses Lip Gloss in GlitzyChateau Kisses Lip Gloss in GlitzyChateau Kisses Lip Gloss in Glitzy

Chateau Kisses Lip Gloss in Glitzy ($18):  I love this lip gloss. It has wonderful slip without being sticky, and the color lasts a nice long time. I think Glitzy has just enough shimmer to make my lips look bigger without looking like I am trying too hard. Isn’t Glitzy a gorgeous shade? There are seven more shades available and I swear I want every single one.

Wearing my PUR Cosmetics

Wearing my PUR Cosmetics

Marcia says: One last cosmetic item that just never gets talked about are Perfect Fit eyeshadow trios. There are a dozen different trios to provide beautiful colors for your eyes. Whether you like greens, browns, purples, or brights there’s a set for you. I have Wild Child which fits into my cosmetic life perfectly.

PÜR Perfect Fit Eye Shadow Trio in Wild Child

PÜR Perfect Fit Eye Shadow Trio in Wild Child

I buy too many neutrals so having this purple toned trio is a great change of pace and a reminder of why I wore purple on my eyes for years and years. With built-in firming ingredients and light-diffusing mineral spheres, each shade helps create a velvety smooth, crease-free finish.  My new favorite way to wear shadow is to use the darkest shade buffed smoothly onto my lid, take the middle shade from the lid up into the crease, and apply a highlight shade on my browbone. Wild Child fits perfectly. I love the lighter purple to give the illusion of lift. I use the highlight shade too in the inner tear duct. This is just right to give me the cool toned purples I like.

PÜR Perfect Fit Eye Shadow Trio in Wild Child

We hope to be back with more PÜR and some of their newest products but we’re happy to remind ourselves why we like the brand.

PÜR is sold at ULTA as well as their own website and Kohls. Samples sent for consideration, affiliate links in use

Clear up skin congestion with our derma*e® giveaway!

fall-season-brings-congested-skinThe change of seasons means confused skin that makes too much oil and gets congested from a build up of dead skin. Keeping clear, glowing skin requires preventative measures, and we have an awesome giveaway for exactly what you need to stay on top of skin care woes. Prevent those disasters with Purifying products from derma*e®, a fabulous eco-ethical company that is completely committed to your health, well-being, and the environment.                    samples

derma*e® giveaway! We have five of our favorite derma*e® products in this giveaway:

  1. Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50)
  2. Purifying Daily Detox Scrub ($15.50)
  3. Purifying Gel Cleanser ($15.50)
  4. Purifying Toner Mist ($15.50)
  5. Purifying Youth Serum ($29.50)

The key to creating skin that gets the most from skin care products is exfoliation. derma*e® has some of the best exfoliating products out there.

DermaE Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

As a deep clean once a week, the Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50) detoxes skin in two ways:

(1) Natural clays infused with Kimarine® Wakame, Bladderwrack and Activated Charcoal lift out dirt, oil and bacteria to decongest pores as the mask dries

(2) Apricot Seed Powder exfoliates away dead skin cells and captured debris upon removal. Kaolin and Bentonite Clays absorb excess oils and impurities, relieving skin congestion.

Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin, concentrating on areas that have a tendency to be problematic. For me, that means nose and chin. It only takes about five minutes for it to dry, then using wet fingertips massage the mask in small circles. This ‘supersizes’ the exfoliation and really cleans out those pores. Rinse off with warm water or a damp washcloth. This treatment mask has many of the same powerful ingredients as the Purifying Gel Cleanser, so it’s the perfect complimentary deep clean.

derma e Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

derma e Purifying Daily Detox Scrub

The Purifying Daily Detox Scrub ($15.50) is a facial exfoliant paste that is gentle but very effective. It has a great ingredient list, starting with the charcoal that absorbs impurities so they can be washed away. The scrubbing power comes from Apricot Seed Powder that sloughs off any dead cells, dirt, and oil. The aloe keeps skin super soft and moist. Like all the Purifying products, it also has the Kimarine® and bladderwrack mentioned earlier. Because the Purifying Daily Detox Scrub doesn’t have a whole slew of complicated ingredients, this gentle scrub is safe for even very sensitive skin. I think it’s a fantastic way to keep skin glowing and ready for serum and moisturizer.

DermaE Purifying Gel Cleanser

I am a huge fan of derma*e’s® Purifying Gel Cleanser ($15.50) because it exfoliates so gently. Even though it’s an exfoliating cleanser, I can use my Luna cleansing brush without fear of being too rough on my skin and I think it would be perfect to use with a Clarisonic. I have been working out like crazy for the last six months and this is my favorite choice for washing my face when I get home because it is perfect for removing sweat, toxins, and bacteria.

This cleanser is pH balanced and has no fragrance or sulfates. Ingredients include these minerals and natural toxin fighters:

Kimarine® Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke, heavy metals).

Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment.

Activated Charcoal, known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, helps thoroughly remove toxins from the skin’s surface.

Green Tea delivers potent antioxidant defense, and a base of Aloe Leaf Juice revives skin with fresh, healthy hydration.

derma e® Purifying Toner Mist

derma e® Purifying Toner Mist

Once you have exfoliated and cleansed your skin, the next best step is to hydrate and treat with antioxidants using a great toner. The derma*e® Purifying Toner Mist ($15.50) is the toner for the job since it has Marine Algae and Green Tea to refresh and fortify your skin against the environment. It’s also pH balanced with Kimarine® Wakame, Bladderwrack, Green Tea antioxidants, and Aloe Leaf Juice. I use this after exfoliating and cleansing at night, as well as in the morning before treatment and moisturizer. While it’s a spray, I don’t recommend spraying it directly on your face since it comes out a little heavy and uneven. It’s better sprayed onto a cotton pad then wiped on. An added bonus – if you happened to miss any makeup or dirt while cleansing, this lifts away anything that might cause clogged pores.

DermaE Purifying Youth Serum

With skin clean and ready to make the most of any treatment, an excellent treatment serum is the Purifying Youth Serum ($29.50). Holy smokes is this good stuff! Awesome ingredients like Kimarine® Wakame,  Bladderwrack, and Green Tea together in an Aloe Leaf Juice Base makes for super healthy, glowy skin. This is a great primer for foundation, too. And like all derma*e® products, it’s 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free, and GMO-free.

You can find products derma*e® at Ulta and at Whole Foods.  Two Beauty Info Zone readers will win this giveaway – just list the products you want to win in the order you want them!  The Grand Prize Winner gets 3 products, and the 2nd place winner gets 2 products.  This is a US only giveaway that ends at 11:59 pm EST on 11/19/16.  As always, you must subscribe to Beauty Info Zone’s emails and comment. Peace, love, and great skin with The Organic Pharmacy

Organic Pharmacy
With the crazy circus of politics these days, simply scrolling through Facebook stresses me right into a horrible – and so ironic – combination of wrinkles and acne. So I step away from the media and step into some organic self-care to get back my peace and love vibe.

The Organic Pharmacy was created by a homeopathic pharmacist. The first store opened in 2002 in London, with the first US store opening in Los Angeles in 2008. The array of products in this line is amazing – you can find skin care for every type of skin, body products for your head to your toes, bath soaks and shower gels, shampoos and conditioners, baby products, tinctures, homeopathic remedies…the list goes on and on. The Organic Pharmacy says, “We still stick with our strong principles and pride ourselves on the passion that we share for quality, efficacy and above all a dedication to you. We hope that we have shown the world it is possible to choose an organic product that is beautiful to look at, luxurious to use and more effective than its synthetic counterparts without compromising your health or beauty.”

I haven’t tried anything from them yet that I didn’t think was terrific and I have four favorites to share with you today in the spirit of positivity!
Organic Pharmacy Herbal Toner
The Herbal Toner ($65) is fabulous. I use this as a toner, and also as a spritz of moisture that is especially wonderful on hot, sunny days. It has 18 organic herbs that work together to keep skin healthy. It reduces pore size while also lifting and hydrating skin. It smells like fresh oranges, which is an instant relaxer and de-stresser.

Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter CleanserOrganic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser

The Carrot Butter Cleanser ($74) is a very unique cleanser. This is a balm that melts right into your skin, lifting makeup and dirt right out of your life. No need for a separate eye makeup remover either, because it melts off even the smokiest of eyes.

Infused with Rosemary, Carrot and Shea Butter, the skin is left comfortable, incredibly soft and radiant. Chamomile and Lavender soothe and calm both skin and mind.

Once you smooth on the balm, you wipe it off using a hot, wet muslin cloth. The results are awesome – clean, glowy, hydrated skin. The Carrot Butter Cleanser is one of The Organic Pharmacy’s best-selling products and it should be on your list to try.

Organic Pharmacy Lip and Eye CreamOrganic Pharmacy Lip and Eye Cream

I also love the Lip & Eye Cream ($48). This is a beautiful cream that soothes skin, reduces puffiness, and lightens dark circles. Because it’s hydrating, it reduces the look of fine lines and makes for a wonderful lip moisturizer. The ingredient list includes Shea butter, bilberry, evening primrose, rose hip and frankincense. I pat some on under my eyes, then use what’s left over on the sides of mouth and on my lips. You really only need a teensy amount so the tube lasts forever.

Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip BalmOrganic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm

I can’t rave enough about the Antioxidant Lip Balm ($21.50). I love, love, love this beautiful balm. Ingredients include Shea Butter, pomegranate, rose hip and Vitamin E. The balm leaves my lips so soft and hydrated thanks to the Shea butter and Vitamin E. The pomegranate and rose hip are excellent antioxidants that fight free radicals while also calming and soothing dry or cracked lips. This balm is the bomb.

It’s getting pretty crazy and very stressful out there. Be sure to take care of yourself. The Organic Pharmacy is a great way to get some peace, love, and great skin.  – Lisa

Turning up the heat on skin care with Meltology

Meltology Skin Care

Meltology Skin Care

Does a little heat make skin care work even better? The spa skin care line Meltology thinks so and has self-heating technology in their products to help ingredients penetrate skin while sealing in moisture. Meltology sent the BIZ several products to test and today I have four to tell you about – Moisture Boost Cleanser, Hydrating Skin Toner, Skin Balancing Renewal Lotion, and Revitalize Skin Concentrate.  Later Marcia will have some other Meltology for you, plus a giveaway!

Meltology Moisture Boost Cleanser

Meltology Moisture Boost Cleanser

Moisture Boost Cleanser ($18)  This is a soap-free gel that takes the cleansing job seriously, cleaning dirt, makeup, and clogged pores like a champ. I love the gel texture, it makes cleansing tools like the Luna or Clarisonic a breeze to use. The cleanser has these little microspheres of Vitamin E that burst as you clean, giving skin a great antioxidant boost.  Ingredients include:

Panthenol: Moisture-protecting skin hydrator.

Allantoin: Soothing agent originally derived from comfrey root.

Microspheres: Gentle cleansing microspheres of Vitamin E.

This cleanser is best for dry to combination skin. It does have fragrance, including Cedarwood oil, Cassia, Clary Sage, Lime, Lemon, Rose, Jasmine, Tuberose, Bergamot and Orange essential oils, so those with sensitivities will want to try a different cleanser. The Moisture Boost Cleanser does not contain sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates.

Meltology Moisture Boost Cleanser and Hydrating Skin Toner

Meltology Moisture Boost Cleanser and Hydrating Skin Toner

Hydrating Skin Toner ($18) This toner is lovely in that it really cools and soothes dry skin. It feels wonderful on, and preps skin for moisturizers and treatments. The only potential problem with this toner is the inclusion of lavender and rose essential oils which can be irritating for some skin types.  Other ingredients include:

Panthenol: Provitamin B5 quickly absorbs hydrates inside skin’s surface.

NMF Complex: Bio-sugar blend mimics skin’s own Natural Moisturizing Factors for instant comfort.

Saccharide Isomerate: Sugar-based “moisture magnet” locks moisture within the skin.

Copper PCA: Mineral-based hydrator assists skin’s absorption capacity.

The Hydrating Skin Toner is alcohol-free and does not contain synthetic fragrance or synthetic colorants.

Ok, I know I said there was heat technology in these products…keep reading!

Meltology Skin Balancing Renewal Lotion

Meltology Skin Balancing Renewal Lotion

Skin Balancing Renewal Lotion ($40) This is a very nice, lightweight moisturizer. If you have super dry skin I don’t think this would be a good fit, but any other skin type will really like it.  Ingredients include tons of vitamins to fight free radicals. Again, it has essential oils, including natural plant essential oils of jasmine, bergamot, cassia, lemon and orange peel, lime clary sage, rose, tuberose, and cedarwood. Check out these other great ingredients:

LumiFirm Apple Stem Cell Complex (Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Extract and Algae Extract): Combats tired, dull-looking skin by visibly enhancing skin’s own youthful vitality.

Sandalwood, Phellodendron Bark & Barley Extract: Natural plant oils soften and condition skin.

Moisturizing Plant Phospholipids: Restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier for all day comfort.

Tocopherol Linoleate: Moisturizing Vitamin E; keeps skin moist and supple.

Panthenol: Provitamin B5; Deeply hydrates, soothes and restores the skin’s moisture.

If it weren’t for the possibility of skin irritation from the essential oils I would be raving about this, but there is chance this moisturizer could irritate your skin.

Meltology Revitalyze Skin Concentrate

Meltology Revitalyze Skin Concentrate

Revitalyze Skin Concentrate ($100)  This is the star of the Meltology products I tested. Revitalyze is a lightweight serum that smooths skin, balances out skin tone, and gives it a wonderful, natural glow. These are just a ton of super-antioxidants to fight against free radical damage. Here is the heat-stimulation! It does feel warm when applied and it’s great for all skin types including very congested.

This product is paraben-free as well as fragrance free – no essential oils in this one, so it will work on sensitive skin! Here are the ‘super-antioxidants, adaptive extremophiles and new skin moisture-barrier protectors’:

Thermus Thermophilus Ferment: This heat-loving, deep-sea Extremophile is a new ingredient harvested from thermal hot vents very deep in the ocean. Heat-activated enzyme – As the temperature rises, Extremozyme activity increases up to 300%. Helps neutralize free radicals and lipid peroxidation, which only gets more effective with temperature increase.

Algae Extract (Duniella Salinas): Derviced from fresh water algae with very high concentrations of salt; reduces oxidative stress, and acts as a super skin energizer to clarify and brighten skin tones and diminish the look of age spots.

Apple Stem Cells (Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract): The ingredient was discovered when Swiss farmers noticed that a particular variety of apple had an extremely long shelf life, and maintained its moisture and flavor properties for longer periods of time than regular apples. The extract was isolated and found to help prolong the quality of human skin as well.

Matrixyl 3000 (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide): Peptides are small chain amino acids (proteins) that encourage cell renewal that slows with age, to frim as it visibly corrects signs of aging by smoothing the fine lines and surface wrinkles.

Sea Whip Extract (Pseudopterogorgia Elizabethae): Discovered by Scripps Oceanographers, this potent, skin-soothing and calming agent soothes in seconds, and banishes redness in minutes.

Silver Ear Mushroom (Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide): Five times more hydrating than Hyaluronic Acid.

Superoxide Dismutase: Powerful biological antioxidant in liposomal form that helps control signs of redness or skin irritation.

Trehalose: Antioxidant cell protector; found in ‘resurrection’ desert plants that bloom after years of dormant dehydration.

(TRF) Tissue Respiratory Factors (Saccharomyces Lysate Extract): A bio-available liposome to revitalize skin and help correct red or yellow skin tones to improve the overall look of the skin.

All I have to say is WOW. You want cutting edge skin care with every ingredient short of the kitchen sink?? Here you go! There’s one more product that I think is really essential to get the very best out of the Meltology products: the Self-Heating Spa Facial Mask. Marcia, the queen of all masks, will be reviewing this and more in a few days – and you will have a chance to win some of the masks for yourself, so be sure to stay tuned! You can find these products and more at  – Lisa

Skincare 101 – my Paula’s Choice regimen

Paula's Choice Resist line - my personal regimen

Paula’s Choice Resist line – my personal regimen

Makeup Wars is always a favorite for me. If you haven’t been hanging around Beauty Info Zone then you might not know that Makeup Wars is when a group of bloggers choose a topic and we all post about the same general idea. But the articles are so varied since we are all coming from different places in our life. Skincare 101 is a most exciting post because I know that I’m going to learn so much from the other “warriors” and what they are going to share.

I’m sharing my Paula’s Choice Resist products that I received from #PRIMP, Pretty in my Pocket, after a wonderful phone consultation. I’ve loved and used Paula’s Choice products for years. But the line has gotten so big that I was at a loss as to what I really should be using. I read the descriptions and everything sounds wonderful. The phone consult which takes between 10 and 15 minutes and is free to all, is perfect. Your representative discusses your skin type, age, skin concerns, and what you want to work on and then creates your own personal regimen. You can then pick out which items you want to start with or wait for another day. I recommend that you don’t wait though. I’ve been using my PC Resist products for 4 months now and don’t intend to stop. I’ll add in other lines that I want to review but I’ve always gone back to Paula’s Choice.

For this review you need to know that I’ve got skin that used to be combination but is now on the dry side, especially in cold weather. My concerns are keeping my face looking as youthful as possible while dealing with large pores, fine lines, and firmness.

Paula's Choice Resist Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser and Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner

Paula’s Choice Resist Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser and Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner

I use both the Resist Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser and Advanced Replenishing Toner morning and evening. There are other cleansers in the Resist line but for my needs (and advancing age) I needed one that is gentle and hydrating. This is a lotion that cleanses my skin and removes any facial makeup without stripping my skin of essential oils. While it works for all skin types it’s especially recommended for normal to dry.

The Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner is a step that I often resist. There’s so much misinformation around about using a toner and it’s often skipped but it can be an essential step in balancing your skin and keeping it well preserved (and not pickled). This toner is one for anti-aging which can be seen in the ingredients. It helps build collagen for firmer skin, it contains anti-irritants to calm redness, and it has licorice extract & acetyl glucosamine to improve skin tone. The packaging is hard plastic so you can’t really squeeze it out, you pour it onto a cotton pad and there’s never too much that comes out. It removes all vestiges of makeup. It’s great after using a cleansing cloth if you are too tired to use a soap and water cleanser since it removes all the residue from the cloth.

Paula's Choice Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment and Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer

Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment and Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer

After cleansing and toning I use Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment and Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer. These are daytime only for me because of the ingredients in them.

The Resist Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA contains glycolic acid which gently exfoliates and protects your skin’s barrier. This was chosen for me because it helps fade sun damage. I’m a firm believer in SPF but that’s not how I was brought up. I apply this AHA treatment as soon as I’ve finished with the two cleansing products. I like it to sink into my skin while I’m putting on my eye makeup. This is a light yellow creamy lotion that makes my skin feel very soft. I love anything that helps me correct my uneven skintone so this is a definite rebuy for me.

Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer w/Broad Spectrum SPF 25 is the only moisturizer I took on a recent trip. I was packing light and this tube was exactly what I needed. I used it both day and night but at home I just use this during the day. Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer fits all the things I’m looking for in a daytime product: fragrance-free, broad spectrum sunscreen (mineral based), works as an anti-aging product, contains antioxidants, and my foundation never balls up when using this PC sunscreen.

Paula's Choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer and Resist BHA 9

Paula’s Choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer and Resist BHA 9

Paula’s Choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer and her Resist BHA 9 are the two products I use only at night. After cleansing and toning I first apply Resist BHA 9 and let it work its magic on my skin. This thin tube is totally different than the other BHA I have from Paula’s Choice. I laughed when I got this because it’s subtitled as “for stubborn imperfections” which describes my life to a tee. This is actually a product that’s good for so many of us as it is a concentrated salicylic acid spot treatment to tackle the most stubborn imperfections for dramatic results without irritation. It’s to be used for acne breakouts, Anti-Aging, blackheads, enlarged pores, and keratosis pilaris. Being stubborn myself I use this all over my face and not as a spot treatment. My main goal with this is for my enlarged pores and anti-aging. I am seeing a difference on the pores on my cheeks, especially when I apply cream blush. During Christmas there were so many deals popping up that I bought a set containing this BHA so I wouldn’t run out. It has a slightly oily feel to it. I’ve never had any irritation with this. It’s a winner for me.

Paula's Choice Resist BHA 9

Paula’s Choice Resist BHA 9

Since the Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer has retinol in it, it’s strictly for night use around here. This was chosen for me because I had said I’m concerned with fine lines and future wrinkles. It’s very lightweight so I thought that it wouldn’t be enough moisturizing for me this winter but I was mistaken. I’m testing other skincare right now but I make sure to use this Barrier Repair Moisturizer a few times a week. The retinol in this works to improve skintone and I’ve been very happy with that overall. The percentage of retinol isn’t mentioned anywhere but it’s a mild one. This is best for normal to dry skin and happily is fragrance free.

Paula's Choice Resist Anti-Aging Eye Cream

Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Eye Cream

Oh what an uproar there was when Paula’s Choice announced they now had an eye cream. It was always her stand that we didn’t need a separate cream for eyes and many of her products are recommended to be used near your eyes. But women (especially me) want an eye cream and Paula listened. Paula’s Choice Resist Anti-Aging Eye Cream was brought out after much testing since she knew she’d be scrutinized by everyone for going against her grain. This is a nicely rich eye cream that hasn’t caused me to have any milia. I used it religiously for 2 months and now alternate it with any others that I’m testing. I love the packaging of it but I often get out more than I actually need. The amount on my finger is really enough for both eyes twice. I try to squeeze lightly so that not too much comes out. I rub it between my fingers to soften it and pat it on under my eyes. While it’s a very good eye cream at a good price, I’m not sure if this is a repurchase, but then again I have a drawer full of eye creams so we’ll see down the road.

There you have my Paula’s Choice regimen. When I’m ready to add new products or I have a question about one of their products I’d have no problem calling again or using their live chat online. I also have no problem telling you that this is a line to be trusted and one I believe in. If I had a daughter, I’d gladly steer her towards Paula’s Choice to find her own routine.

Keeping it clean with Paula’s Choice Resist Perfectly Balanced Cleanser and Advanced Replenishing Toner

I’m a huge, huge Paula fan from way back…in fact, it’s really thanks to her that I am a beauty blogger today. Her skin care line is one I go back to again and again, so I was more than happy to test some items the BIZ was sent. I think that this line excels in two areas: cleansing and treatment. Today I am excited to be sharing with you two of my favorite cleansing items, the RESIST PERFECTLY BALANCED CLEANSER ($18 for 6.4 oz) and the RESIST ADVANCED REPLENISHING TONER ($23 for 4 oz)

This is a perfect workhorse cleanser. It’s amazing for anyone with oily or t-zone issues – I think she has better cleansers for those with dry skin. This one is terrific for removing excess oil as well as whatever is left from the day while at the same time treating and hydrating skin.

It’s a light lotion cleanser that has a slight foam. Works great with any cleansing device because it has some slip. I do like to wipe off my eye makeup first with Paula’s Gentle Touch Makeup Remover ($15) but this cleanser does take off eye makeup without stinging my eyes. The ceramides and the hyaluronic acid are wonderfully soothing ingredients that leave skin super happy. Great stuff!
I am a big believer in toners. Good ones remove any last vestiges of makeup while also calming skin. This one does both, plus the antioxidants fight wrinkles and free radicals. The bottle is a squeeze bottle that can be a little challenging at first – I was putting way too much toner on my cotton pads – but it can’t be in a spray bottle because the toner has a lotion quality to it that’s too thick to spray. Check out everything it does for skin:
  • Anti-Aging, Extra Sensitive Skin, Wrinkles
  • Soothes Dry/Very Dry Skin
  • Antioxidant-rich formula reduces wrinkles & repairs damaged cells
  • Licorice extract & acetyl glucosamine improve skin tone
  • Soothing formula calms skin while removing last traces of makeup
  • Unique milky texture leaves skin looking radiant & feeling unbelievably soft
  • This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free.

I especially appreciate this toner when I have dry spots or chapped areas from the cold Michigan weather. This is, truly, the best toner I have ever used.

I recommend the Paula’s Choice line all the time – it has fabulous basics that work and the Resist Perfectly Balanced Cleanser and Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner are fantastic staples to include in your skin care routine.
