Robin McGraw Revelation skincare will reveal the skin that you love

Robin McGraw’s skincare line, REVELATION, is continuing to impress me. I’ve previously reviewed the night cream, Hydra Qwench, which is a total delight to use. I love this gentle moisturizer that is fragrance free and I’ll continue using it until there’s not a drop left. I’ll also purchase it once I don’t have a backload of others to review.

And now it’s time to review 3 more pieces in the collection:  FOAMING JOY, 50 FIERCE, and LIVE LIFE LIFTED. Revelation is a cruelty free brand that is paraben free, SLS free, and doesn’t contain mineral oils. Now that we’ve established that – – –

FOAMING JOY  – this is a purifying facial cleanser, the only cleanser currently in her lineup. It’s meant for all skin types and I can use this year round even though sometimes a foaming cleanser will strip skin of moisture. But this has a gel texture that lightly lathers and washes away easily. It’s formulated with Dynamic Infusion Technology™ a patent pending delivery system meant to transport active ingredients deep into your skin.

Robin McGraw Revelation Foaming Joy

The wash contains both Chamomile Extract which deep cleans pores and green tea oil whose antioxidants protect skin from free radical damage. Foaming Joy also helps gently exfoliate skin since it contains Vitamin C apple fruit extract. It’s not on my skin long enough to prevent me from using another exfoliator but it’s nice to have a way to boost collagen production.

Robin McGraw Revelation Foaming Joy

Robin McGraw Revelation Foaming Joy

There is a light fragrance with Foaming Joy but it doesn’t linger after it’s washed away.

50 FIERCE  –  This is both a moisturizer and a sunscreen which is the perfect way to start the day. When I learned that this is also a great anti-wrinkle sunscreen that sealed the deal.

Robin McGraw Revelation 50 Fierce

50 Fierce has SPF 50 (thus the name!) and protects from both UVA and UVB rays. The active sunscreen ingredients are Avobenzone (3%), Homosalate (3%), Oxtinoxate (7,5%) and Octisalate (4%). At $52 it’s on the high side for a sunscreen but it’s also two products in one.

Robin McGraw Revelation 50 Fierce

50 Fierce works well for me and even though it has a fragrance at least it dissipates quickly so that I can use it without a problem.

Key Benefits:

  • Facial moisturizer with sunscreen protects skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays

  • Potent natural antioxidants defend against pollution and other destructive free radicals

  • Hydrates and nourishes for supple, visibly healthy skin

  • Encourages collagen production to restore skin’s elasticity and firmness

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage

LIVE LIFE LIFTED  –  I love the names of the Revelation line and this one is so unique. Live Life LIFTED ($42) is a firming neck & decollete cream. Even though I know I should be using a neck cream daily I usually forget but now I keep this on the counter with my other night products so I’ve gotten better at it. During the day I prefer to use 50 FIERCE on my neck so Live Life LIFTED is in my night routine.

Live Life LIFTED is an peptide cream that contains hyaluronic acid so it’s adding moisture deeper into the skin. It’s meant to firm, tone and life the neck and decollete areas. It contains Dynamic Infusion Technology™ like Foaming Joy and it also contains jojoba esters, Vitamins A, D and C, plus sunflower oil. It does have a fragrance but it doesn’t prevent me from falling asleep.

Hydra Qwench Moisturizing Night Cream

Hydra Qwench Moisturizing Night Cream remains my favorite product of the 4 I use and one I recommend without  hesitation. You’ll love how it feels and how bright and smooth you’ll look using this and the other REVELATION Skincare products.  —  Marcia

Looking for a superior sunscreen that doubles as a setting spray? Let’s see how Goldfaden MD Sun Visor measures up

Goldfaden MD Sun Visor

Now that warm weather is here to stay, I am transitioning into my crazy-lady sunscreen mode. I confess, even though I know sunscreen is vital year round, I am a little careless in the winter months. I am just not as vigilant…am I the only one who is lazy like this?? But when summer rolls around I remember those days in my youth when I would bake in the sun wearing nothing but a bikini, some baby oil, and big old smile. So in my old age I become a good girl in the summer, slathering on my sunscreen and praying that the protection I give my skin now from UVA/UVB rays will be enough even though I danced with that devil when I was young!

Goldfaden MD Sun Visor

A very cool sunscreen product that I have been testing and am now completely enamored with is Goldfaden MD Sun Visor ($45). This is an SPF 30 sunscreen misting spray that is designed for use on your face, neck, and decolletage. It’s oil-free, PABA-free, and fragrance free. It shields skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays and in doing so it keeps the skin from aging prematurely. I love that the spray soaks in very quickly and works for all skin types from super dry to very oily.

The Goldfaden MD Sun Visor is a pretty terrific setting spray for makeup. It keeps everything in place, even when it’s extremely hot outside. One issue I notice is that if I spray too close to my face, I see tiny white spots on my face. They disappear in a few moments. This isn’t even an issue when I simply spray a little further away from my face. So just be sure to spray about four inches away from your face.

Goldfaden MD Sun Visor

Using an effective sunscreen will keep the skin from developing fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. Finding a great sunscreen for your face and neck will certainly encourage you to use it regularly! Sun Visor is especially awesome because it sprays on in a fine mist and I can spray it on before applying my makeup, plus I can spray it on after and it not only doesn’t smudge or smear my look it keeps it intact. In fact, sunscreen needs to be reapplied every few hours, so taking this along in a purse or beach bag is the most advantageous thing to do – and a few sprays keeps skin perfectly protected.

If you are looking for a great SPF for face, neck, and decolletage without fragrance that doesn’t interfere with makeup, this is a terrific choice. You can find Goldfaden MD products online at their website, on Amazon, and at Space NK Apothecary.  – Lisa

Summer is coming so it’s time to refresh your favorite sunscreens

It’s Makeup Wars time and we’re all about sunscreens this week. You know that we constantly tell you to use sunscreen since it’s so important and we’re going to do that again this week by sharing some of our favorite sunscreens. With summer officially starting in less than 3 weeks it’s time to rearm your collection with a new unexpired batch of products. I’m currently using 3 brands and I have high recommendations for all.

Favorite sunscreens from MyChelle, Emme Diane, and Glytone

samples, affiliates

I’ve previously written about MyChelle and Emme Diane so this is a reminder. Newer to me and very beloved is Glytone so this will be weighted heavily in their direction.

MyChelle has 3 new sunscreen products this year that are all Reef Safe. This has become so important now that we’re getting to know more about how the products we use can affect the world. Not to get into politics but with the EPA cutting back on regulations it’s up to us to use what we know to product the earth.

MyChelle Sun Shield Non-Tinted Liquid SPF50, Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50, and Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50

In my MyChelle review I described these three products and their important ingredients. One of the things that has happened in my use of these products is that the Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50 has become a favorite of my granddaughter. When we are getting ready to go out to the park she runs into my bathroom and grabs this for me to apply it on her. She loves that there’s no fragrance and that it feels good on her skin. I hope I don’t turn her into a fragrance-phobe but she really like this SPF50 Body Lotion from MyChelle. Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 is so easy for me to apply when we’re going out to play. I use the Sun Shield Non-Tinted Liquid SPF50 under my foundation and it always plays nicely without causing any balling up.

Emme Diane Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF40

Prior to my using MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 I was introduced to Emme Diane’s Tinted Mineral Sunscreen (SPF 40) (review) and wore it daily on my long cruise and after. Emme Diane helped remind me that we still get UV light indoors from reflected sunlight as well as light bulbs. Plus when we are in the car we get reflections from the sun. The texture of the Emme Diane is different than I had expected. It’s thick and feels a little rubbery at first, but once blended in it melds with my skin making me feel like I have light coverage and great sun protection. I can wear this alone or as a primer under a foundation.

GLYTONE Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40

Now let’s learn about GLYTONE which is what I’ve been using constantly. Glytone Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40 and I have a wonderful relationship. This Glytone product loves my skin and my skin loves it. Could that be because it also contains Hyaluronic Acid?? That sure doesn’t hurt!

Glytone SPF

Glytone Sunscreen ingredients

Here are several reasons why I like the Glytone Sunscreen Broad Spectrum so much

1. It’s fragrance free and oil free

2. It contains Micronized Zinc Oxide and Hyaluronic Acid (nourishes skin and helps boost natural moisture level and visibly reducing appearance of fine lines and wrinkles)

3. It’s PABA free

4. It’s thick at first but then gets absorbed completely into my skin

5. My foundation (and I’ve tried 4 different ones so far) applies perfectly over it

6. Not only does it protect against sunburn (both UVA and UVB) but it also minimizes premature skin aging

7. My dermatologist said she loved how my skin looked in spite of knowing how ancient I am.

8. It can be used on both face and body but I’m saving this for my face. Other than my neck not much of my body gets the sun so I can use a different sunscreen on it.

GLYTONE Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 40

This was one of the easiest Makeup Wars that I’ve written since these products are all well loved by me and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I know I’ll have some temptation with what my fellow Makeup Wars friends will write about but all I have to do is come back to my vanity and look at these to know satisfaction.  —  Marcia

#Unshinesunshine with Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion 50+

Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion 50+

Gather ’round, my t-zone and oily skinned friends. We all know that warm weather only makes our skin even shinier and more oily. How about some fabulous sun protection with full UVA and UVB protection that also controls oil and keeps skin matte for 8 full hours? Even better, how about if that same sun protection also helps fight blemishes?? Read on for the full scoop because you will want to know everything about Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion 50+($28)!

Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion 50+

It’s not easy to find a great mineral sunscreen for the face that doesn’t leave it feeling greasy or oily, especially when you already have t-zone or oily skin to begin with. I am really loving Avene’s Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ because it is a very lightweight lotion that doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin, but it gives complete broad-spectrum sun protection and it’s super gentle. The formula is terrific and actually has antioxidants and soothes any redness.

Key Ingredients:

  • Titanium Dioxide: broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection
  • Zinc Oxide: broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection
  • Monolaurin: helps reduce excess oil and shine
  • Zinc Gluconate: helps soothe irritation and redness
  • Vitamin E: provides powerful antioxidant protection

Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion 50+

I find that it keeps my skin nicely matte all day long. I don’t have to continually powder my nose, even when it is extremely warm out. It also doesn’t clog pores, so there isn’t a big problem with blemishes, something that is often a struggle for me regarding sun protection and my face.

In terms of the beach or pool, The Avene Mineral Light Mattifying Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ gives the longest water resistance available, which is 80 minutes. Not too shabby!

Overall, this is a really terrific mineral sunscreen for those of us with t-zone or oily skin. And with the change of seasons, this is the perfect time to check to see if your current sunscreen is out of date – is it time to invest in a new one? You can find Avene online at Dermstore and at  – Lisa

Skin Perfection, Sun Protection all with MyChelle

MyChelle Sun Protection

MyChelle Dermaceuticals needs to be on your sun protection radar. They’ve created three new products that cover all the occasions you’ll need sun protection and they’ve done it so that the products are not only safe for you but also reef safe. If you’ve been following the news lately you know that the coral reefs are dying and that they need to be protected. We can do our part in many ways but one in particular is using sun protection that is Reef Safe. As a cruelty-free company this goal is important to MyChelle.

MyChelle has always been concerned with protecting us from the evils of the sun and with their three newest products they’ve extended their current line to include formulas that combine anti-aging benefits with UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum protection. I’m in and so will you be once you learn about them.

MyChelle Sun Shield Stick, Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion, Sun Shield Liquid

All of their newest products contain SPF50 Broad Spectrum protection and ingredients that are excellent for your skin. Not only do we want to protect from the sun’s rays but we also want to keep our skin in as good shape as possible.

Let me start with MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 since I’m loving this! When I see that something is tinted I figure that it’s not going to be good for my fair skin but oh how wrong that statement is with the Sun Shield Tinted Stick. It has just a touch of tint that adds a little bit of color to your natural skin tone. While it’s light enough to blend in well for me, it’s going to also blend in well for other skintones without leaving behind an ashy look.

MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50

Look at the key ingredients to see why I highly recommend this $12 SPF.

Key Ingredients:

  • Zinc Oxide: provides a safe alternative to harsh chemical sunscreens
  • Avocado, Jojoba and Vitamin E Oils: help moisturize and protect
  • Cocoa Seed Butter: soothes skin and supports elasticity
  • MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50

MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 blended on my hand

Vegetarian; reef safe; biodegradable; made without GMO, gluten, parabens, petroleum, phthalates, silicones, sulfates, urea’s, artificial fragrances and artificial colors

MyChelle Sun Shield Tinted Stick SPF50 looks completely natural on me and I don’t find I need a separate moisturizer on the days I use this. The small size makes it easy to keep with for touch-ups.

Sun Shield Non-Tinted Liquid SPF50 is a gem that I’m so happy to have found. It has a very silky formula and acts as a moisturizer for me. While MyChelle also sells this in Nude and Tan it’s the Non-Tinted that’s new and perfect for all of us. It has a matte finish and is easy to use as a primer.

MyChelle Sun Shield Liquid Non-Tinted SPF 50

Sun Shield Liquid Non-Tinted SPF 50 ($22.50) contains bentonite clay making this a 100% mineral sunscreen. The sunscreen helps absorb excess oil and impurities from pores. The great thing is that not only is it lightweight but it wears well under foundation so there’s no excuse for not having SPF50 on your face at all times.

Sun Shield Liquid Non-Tinted SPF 50

MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50 brings me tears – of joy actually. But I hadn’t received this before my cruise and the body sunscreen that we brought with us on the trip totally let us down. Both my husband and I would have been so much happier with this one from MyChelle. It’s thick at first but it spreads so easily that it’s wonderful.

MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50

While I use sunscreen daily my body isn’t exposed much so it’s mostly my neck, shoulders, hands, and arms that need protection. The Solar Defense Body Lotion is just that, a lotion. It makes me feel like I’m not only keeping away the sun’s harsh rays but moisturizing at the same time.

MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50

MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50

MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense Body Lotion SPF 50 ($29.50) is a mineral based sun protector containing 100% Zinc Oxide. There’s no white cast left behind when I massage it onto my skin. It’s going to be my choice for my cottage bag this summer and I’ll even share with my husband (especially for that bald spot on the top of his head – don’t tell anyone I said that). It can also be used on your face so it’s a great all around product.

There are better and safer ways to get a tan than the sun and in my opinion you should be protecting your skin against the sun. Why not choose products that are also good for the environment at the same time? That’s where MyChelle Dermaceuticals comes in especially with their three newest reef safe products. Feel good about your skin year round with MyChelle.  —  Marcia

MyChelle products are sold at Dermstore where they currently have a gwp of MyChelle Dermaceuticals Remarkable Retinal Serum ($25 Value) with any $50 MyChelle Dermaceuticals purchase. They are also available at MyChelle’s website and other fine retailers.

Sunscreen in January? Absolutely says Bull Frog, Ocean Potion and NO-AD. There’s a giveaway too.

It doesn’t matter if it’s January, February, March, August, September – what matters is that the sun is out there and you need to be protected from the dangers of it year round. We all love sunny days, it lifts our mood especially when it’s the dreary days of winter, it gives us valuable Vitamin D, it helps crops grow. But it also is not the best thing for your skin. Using an SPF product is important for all of us and today I have 3 very easy to apply sunscreens that are SPF 50 to share with you.

Ocean Potion, Bull Frog, No-AD sunscreens SPF50

samples, affliates

All three of the brands I’m sharing with you are TSA screening friendly. None are lotions and all three are great for daily use and perfect for travel. “To travel without sun protection is a mistake. According to The American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.” Since I’ll soon be traveling, the three sunscreens I’m talking about today are all coming with me. They’ll be small enough to put in a pocket to easily reapply throughout the long tour days I’ll be involved with. I’m also recommending these for everyone who enjoys winter sports whether it’s downhill skiing, cross country skiing or even building snowmen.

NO-AD Sun Care 50 Sport is a paraben-free body and face sunscreen stick with Broad Spectrum SPF50. It’s water resistant for 80 minutes before it’s recommended you reapply.

NO-AD Sun Care 50 Sport

This applies clearly without a white cast and it’s fragrance-free. (PABA-, paraben-, retinyl palmitate-free. Water- and sweat-resistant) I think it’s an excellent body sunscreen since it’s big enough to cover larger spaces easily. There’s absolutely no mess with NO-AD Sport Sunscreen Stick.

NO-AD Sun Care 50 Sport

Bull Frog Land Sport Quick Stick is like a big lipbalm as far as size. The texture of this is softer and applies white but then becomes clear. It’s not greasy at all, it’s a clear zinc formula that doesn’t leave a white residue.

Bull Frog Land Sport Quick Stick

This Bull Frog sunscreen doesn’t drag at all when you apply it. It’s on the soft side which makes it easy for smaller places like your nose, ears, lips, and scalp. This is not only PABA and paraben free but it contains no Avobenzone or Oxybenzone.

Bull Frog Land Sport Quick Stick

Bull Frog Land Sport Quick Stick

If you know me then you know that I’m happy that it’s fragrance free. It has broad spectrum protection and is water and sweat resistant for 80 minutes.

Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick Sunscreen is my favorite of the three even though I still need the others.

Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick Sunscreen

Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Quik Stick has a different consistency than the other two. This is a liquid in a dab on container. This Ocean Potion sunscreen is great for all your warm weather trips since it won’t melt. It’s small and portable which makes it especially easy to take along.

Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick Sunscreen

It can be used under cosmetics and it dries quickly to a matte finish. Fragrance free!!!! Yes. It too is PABA, paraben, and oxybenzone-free. I’ll be reapplying this on my nose and cheeks and also on my husband’s bald spot (don’t tell him I revealed that).

It’s so easy for me to recommend these products to you. All are reasonably priced, all are fragrance-free, and all have SPF 50 which will help your skin every day.  —  Marcia

GIVEAWAY INFORMATION:  Six US winners. There are two First place prizes of all three of the sunscreens and four second place prizes of Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick Sunscreen and Bull Frog Land Sport Quick Stick. Sunday brings us summer helpers from AllGlamR, Cargo and Avon

This week’s Side by Side review is a little different from other weeks. We have 3 brands that we are using this summer and want you to know about. AllGlamR is the one we have in common and then both of us go off on different tangents to share something we’re eager to let you know about. So off to the triple roller coaster ride of Side by Side.

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen

AllGlamR was created by  skin care pro Gina Caruso who has headed aesthetics in top medical practices, created a skin care division for a hair industry icon (Maurice Tidy) and has owned her own med/day spas. Well now she’s created her own line and just in time for summer you can purchased her tinted moisturizer. We received the two shades that it’s available in – Light and Medium.

Marcia uses Light which is recommended for light to medium tones and Lisa uses Medium, recommended for medium to dark tones.

Things we really appreciate about AllGlamR:  The tinted moisturizer is Paraben-free and cruelty free. AllGlamR does not test on animals. In addition it’s a product made in the USA. It contains SPF 30 that protects against both UVA and UVB rays.

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen in Light

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen in Light

Marcia’s experience: While I appreciate all the good things about AllGlamR including the fact that this has a radiant glow that’s just right for summer, I can’t seem to get past the fragrance of it. It takes about 30 minutes for it to dissipate enough for me to go on with my day. It’s not a bad fragrance, it’s a nice floral, but I’m not a fragrance kind of person.

Light is very light, I use two layers of this to achieve any color at all. The first layer gives me coverage while the second gives me enough of a tint to camouflage some of my darker spots. If fragrance is a non-issue for you then I’d recommend AllGlamR for some great sunscreen coverage.

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen in Medium

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen in Medium

AllGlamR Tinted Sunscreen in Medium

Lisa’s experience:  Luckily, I am not as sensitive to fragrance as Marcia is, so the scent doesn’t bother my nose at all. I hardly notice even notice it. I use Medium, which evens out my skin tone and gives me a very nice radiant glow. It doesn’t quite cover dark areas, but it does blend everything together, making this a terrific option for sunscreen on days I don’t want to go with foundation. I am a big fan and find myself reaching for this quite often this summer.

Marcia is loving CARGO SWIMMABLES

Cargo Cosmetics has come out with a summer line that you’ll want to use all year long. The name Swimmables tells it all. These are long-lasting cosmetics that are water-resistant and will help beautify you throughout the hot and muggy days ahead. You know they last through September so you’ve got plenty of time to get your use out of these. Try their bronzer, blush, eyeliners, eyeshadow crayons or follow my lead and try Cargo Swimmables Longwear Matte Liquid Lipstick.

I’ve got two of the six available shades and these are stunners. Ulta only carries them online which is too bad since I’d love to be able to see all of the shades.

Cargo Swimmables Cape Town

Cape Town is my obvious favorite. It’s described as a dusty pink matte. I find that there’s a touch of lavender in it. It’s not pink pink and it’s not a nude. Instead it’s an amalgamation of my favorite shades. It’s darker than I normally wear but it’s not too dark for me to be uncomfortable. While I normally don’t wear matte lipsticks this is surprisingly comfortable. Cape Town may be in South Africa I don’t feel like my lips are in the Sahara. Exfoliate well before using. I like to wipe off excess from the tip and carefully line with the wand, then lightly fill in my lips.

Cargo Swimmables Sorrento

Cargo Swimmables swatches:  Sorrento and Cape Town

Sorrento is named for the Italian seaside city and is described as a fuchsia matte. There’s a lot of red goodness to this beauty. It’s a shade you can picture Sophia Loren wearing with pride. Well you can too if you love these darker stunners. Swimmables Longwear Matte Liquid Lipsticks have a suede finish. They last well on me as long as I don’t eat something oily but I’ve yet to have a lipstick last through that.

Definitely add Cargo Swimmables to your list to make summer and fall a happier experience.

I wrote about these products a month or so ago and they have been saving my family all summer long. It’s no wonder that with 30 SPF, plus protection from mosquitoes and ticks (we are having a crazy huge tick problem around here this summer), protection from the Zika virus and all other sorts of bugs, no one walks out the door without slathering this on.

Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus SPF 30 in Gentle Breeze and Disappearing Color

Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus SPF 30 in Gentle Breeze and Disappearing Color

The SKIN SO SOFT BUG GUARD PLUS IR3535® Gentle Breeze SPF 30 Lotion ($14) is the white one, and it has a light floral fragrance. The kids go bananas for the SKIN SO SOFT BUG GUARD PLUS IR3535® SPF 30 Cool ‘n Fabulous Disappearing Color Lotion ($14), which is blue – how fun is that?? – so you can see where it’s been applied. It dries clear and disappears into skin, but it’s a real kick while it’s still blue.

Our side by side rollercoaster trio of products keeps our faces protected while giving them radiance, makes our lips bright and beautiful, and keeps our bodies safe from UVA/UVB rays and all kinds of bugs.  We say thanks to AllGlamR, Cargo, and Avon every day for these terrific summer helpers!
