GoodBeing the natural beauty and wellness subscription

goodbeing-logo

Are you looking for a natural beauty and wellness source? Are you interested in subscription boxes but most send items that you don’t care for? If you can say yes to either of these then GOOD*BEING is a box you want to know more about.good-being-box

GOOD*BEING at one time was called Goodebox which we’ve reviewed previously. The subscription is similar but now it’s more curated to meet your needs. I was sent a sample box to show you the type of products you could receive. Since I didn’t register I received a typical box rather than one chosen specifically for me.

GoodBeing subscription

GoodBeing subscription

The price of their subscription is dependent on how many months you sign up to receive it. A single box to try them out is $21 but you can lower that price by signing up for more months. Shipping is free for the sub so no hidden costs.

GoodBeing Subscription

GoodBeing Subscription

On the GoodBeing website it says that you’ll receive 4-5 trial size products but I received 2 full and 3 deluxe trial sizes. I’m pretty sure that’s typical according to my past experience. Each box contains information cards that explain the products fully. Every product is a name brand so you are dealing with brands you’ve heard about and would consider buying.

DR. HAUSCHKA ROSE NURTURING BODY OIL was the first product I noticed in the package. This is a 1 oz version and it’s huge. I’m surprised to find out that the full size is 2.5 oz ($29) since this certainly looks like a full sized product.

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil is a vegan product created to promote a sense of balance and well being. It contains extracts of damask roses and rose essential oil. It also contains jojoba oil. Apply this on moist skin after bathing and your skin will soak in the oil and keep you moisturized all day.

ANNMARIE ROSEMARY PEPPERMINT BODY WASH is another vegan product in the box. This is a sample size of 1 fl oz (full size is $34.95 for 200 ml). This plastic bottle is a great size for travel or to test out to see how much you like it.

Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint Body Wash

Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint Body Wash

The body wash is described as invigorating with an aloe-vera base herb-infuse liquid. This is pH balanced and contains rosemary and essential oil of peppermint. It’s a very refreshing smell as well as an effective body wash.

OSEA OCEAN CLEANSER (vegan) is a facial cleanser in a deluxe sample size 1 oz glass bottle. A full size of 6 oz is $44 making this a $7.25 value. This is recommended for normal, dry and combo skin. It’s a moisturizing cleanser so it doesn’t leave your skin dried out.

OSEA Ocean Cleanser

OSEA Ocean Cleanser

This is a vegan pH-balanced  cleanser that’s rich in minerals, algae, vitamins,  and mineral salts. It’s helpful for reducing the effects of photo-aging and it helps increase collagen production.

DAILY CONCEPTS YOUR DUAL TEXTURE SCRUBBER is the product I’m most excited about from the box. I’ve used this before and loved it. What’s unusual about this full size scrubber ($12) is that it has a tag that says “Replace me when writing fades”. People tend to use some products past their life but bacteria can build up. Even though we want it to be a forever item this is safer.

DAILY CONCEPTS Your Dual Texture Body Scrubber

DAILY CONCEPTS Your Dual Texture Body Scrubber

This vegan product is a great shower tool. It comes with a plastic holder that sticks to the bath wall and a cord to attach it. One side is a soft washcloth feeling that is great for washing your face and body with gentle exfoliation.

DAILY CONCEPTS Your Dual Texture Body Scrubber soft texture

DAILY CONCEPTS Your Dual Texture Body Scrubber soft texture

The opposite side is a great body exfoliator. When used with a body cleanser (like Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint) it creates rich lather. I really need this side for my very dry feet to keep the flakies at bay.

PURE ANADA EYESHADOW (full size $8) is one of 45 shades available from Pure Anada. It’s a very finely milled mineral eyeshadow.

PURE ANADA eyeshadow

PURE ANADA eyeshadow

The shade I have, Champagne, is a soft shimmer that has just a touch of gold to it. It looks great on my browbone or all over as a shadow base. I recommend using an eyeshadow primer before applying so that it adheres to your eye and doesn’t fade away. This is also vegan.

All in all I think this is a great box with a good value. A single box would be $21 and the value of this particular box is around $45. To receive 5 vegan items is unusual in a subscription. Check out the brands they work with so you can know before you buy!  —  Marcia

Boxycharm October 2016

Boxycharm October 2016

Boxycharm October 2016

I’ve written about Boxycharm’s subscription many times and have determined that this is the one sub service that I can easily recommend to readers and friends. For $21 per month you receive full size products that are almost always cosmetics. This month’s box has a value of $119 so even if I don’t use 100% of it myself, I’m still ahead of the game.

The theme this month is Boxy Bazaar but in my eyes it’s Fall Bazaar since everything in this box reminds of fall shades. Three out of five of the items this month will remain home with me while two are going to be rehomed.
BRIGEO BLOW DRY PERFECTION HEAT PROTECTANT

BRIGEO BLOW DRY PERFECTION HEAT PROTECTANT

The only non-cosmetic item is BRIGEO BLOW DRY PERFECTION HEAT PROTECTANT ($24, 4 OZ). This will be sent to a close friend who absolutely adores Brigeo products and will be thrilled to receive this. It’s a weightless blow-dry finishing and heat protectant cream. Brigeo is a well loved brand in part because they contain no sulfates, silicones or parabens. I consider it very fragranced although I doubt others would. But I pick and choose my battles when it comes to fragranced products and this one isn’t winning my nose over. It sounds great though since it smooths hair, tames frizz, and enhances shine.

IBY Beauty Three's Company Trio Eye Shadow palette

IBY Beauty Three’s Company Trio Eye Shadow palette

My favorite product is from a brand that is new to me: IBY BEAUTY.  I’m always overjoyed when Boxycharm has eyeshadows in their boxes. Some of my most used palettes have come from Boxycharm. This full size palette, $19) is their Three’s Company Trio Eye Shadow palette and contains perfect fall shades: a shimmery highlighter, a metallic burnished copper, and a basic brown matte shade. It will be easy to do an eye look with these three plus they are a nice addition to my (not so) small eyeshadow collection. I haven’t used this yet because of a health problem but once I’m back to makeup, this goes on.

LUXIE BEAUTY EYE BLENDER BRUSHES

LUXIE BEAUTY EYE BLENDER BRUSHES

LUXIE BEAUTY EYE BLENDER BRUSHES

LUXIE BEAUTY EYE BLENDER BRUSHES

To help apply the eyeshadows is a trio of full size LUXIE BEAUTY EYE BLENDER BRUSHES. I’ve received a pretty pink brush from Luxie previously and have always liked them because they are super soft and cruelty free. This time they’ve collaborated with Boxycharm to bring us this collection of blending brushes ($36). With three brushes each can do their own job of blending and buffing. The 229 is going to help me the most since it’s sturdy and reminds me a little of MAC 217.

STARLOOKS ULTRA MATTE LIP PAINT in PIQUANT

 PIQUANT swatch

PIQUANT swatch

It’s not fall without a matte lip paint this year and that’s been fulfilled by STARLOOKS ULTRA MATTE LIP PAINT in PIQUANT ($19). There are 4 available shades with Piquant being the most mauve of the bunch. This will be rehomed in a future giveaway since I’m so picky about lip shades.  It looks beautiful though.

TEMPTU S/B BRONZE SHIMMER BRONZER

TEMPTU S/B BRONZE SHIMMER BRONZER

Last is a product I’d never have bought for myself but that I really appreciate having, TEMPTU S/B BRONZE SHIMMER BRONZER ($29.50). A tiny drop mixed into moisturizer or liquid foundation will give just enough glow and come in handy on my ghostliest days. For me it’s the perfect way to add bronze since I’m just not adept enough with a powder bronzer. This will last me for the rest of my life probably.

There were some variations and not everyone received the TEMPTU but the substitutions look fabulous (Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer, Cargo Beach Blush, or OFRA Beverly Hills Highlighter. If they’d given me a choice I’d have picked the OFRA but I’m very happy with the Temptu.
What do you think of this month’s subscription? Do you think this would work for you? —  Marcia

My first Your Bijoux Box – October jewelry fun!

Your Bijoux BoxIt’s been way too long since I’ve happily discovered a subscription box on my porch, and I forgot how much fun they are!  I recently received the Your Bijoux Box for review, and it is a pretty neat little box of sparkly stuff – this month the box had jewelry AND cosmetics.

One of the best parts of a subscription box is opening it up.  This box is on the smaller side, but I definitely did a little dance of joy when I saw all the pretty bags inside.

Your Bijoux BoxYour Bijoux Box

Your Bijoux Box

Your Bijoux Box

Each monthly box has three jewelry items for women.  The boxes are curated by stylists, although these are customized – everyone gets the same jewelry each month.  A monthly subscription is $36, and there are options for a three month ($103) or six month ($206) subscription.  They ship to the US and Canada.

The October Your Bijoux Box has three jewelry items PLUS an eyeshadow palette – extra fun!  But first, the jewelry:

Ombre Tortoise Pendant

Ombre Tortoise Pendant

Ombre Tortoise Pendant

Ombre Tortoise Pendant

The Ombre Tortoise Pendant is right on trend.  I am seeing these long necklaces with square pendants everywhere.  This one has color crystals in beautiful fall amber, gold, and orange.  This is exactly what you need to pull together an outfit with a crew or boat neck sweater.

Tortoise Layered Bracelet

Tortoise Layered Bracelet

The Tortoise Layered Bracelet goes perfectly with the other items.  It’s a combination of chunky gold and tortoise-shell, and I love the easy adjustable fit.

Ella Amber Earrings

Ella Amber Earrings

The Ella Amber Earrings are sooo pretty.  The amber is sparkly enough to stand out with my dark hair, but these babies are still casual enough for every day.

Spice Me Up Eye Palette by City Color

Spice Me Up Eye Palette by City Color

Since this is my first Your Bijoux Box, I didn’t realize that every month there is a bonus item in addition to the 3 jewelry items.  The bonus in the October box is a Spice Me Up Eye Palette by City Color ($9).  The fall colors are beautiful!  All of these shades are metallics so they all have some sparkle.  The pigmentation is ok, but with a primer or some mixing medium they last a long time and the colors really pop.  It’s a fun palette to play around with.

Overall, everything matches – even the eyeshadow palette – but it isn’t too ‘matchy matchy’, you know what I mean?

Good news:  Your Bijoux Box has coupons!  Sparkles10 gives 10% off any order, so your best value for this one would be the 3, 6, or 12 month subscription.  Or, use the coupon WELCOME for an extra piece of jewelry!  Only 1 coupon per order.  They also host a monthly style contest. #YourBijouxBoxStyle a photo wearing or displaying the jewelry to win an overflowing box of sparkles! Share it on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or the Your Bijoux Box Blog.

And if you want a single box without the automatically renewing feature, they offer gift options. And don’t you think you deserve a little gift?  I do!!  – Lisa

What’s in the September Boxycharm and what’s in our giveaway?

boxycharm-logo

Just in case you are tired of all the subscription box reviews this month I’ve added a giveaway with products that I won’t/can’t use from them. Boxycharm is my favorite of the 4 I buy and I’m thrilled to share the contents of this with you.

Boxycharm products for September 2016

Boxycharm products for September 2016

Boxycharm doesn’t skimp. They send full size items almost all the time and this month there are 5 full size winners. A Boxycharm subscription costs $21 per month but it’s always worth a lot more. This month’s box has a value of $111. If only my stocks did this well! I’ll share in alphabetical order so as not to play favorites.

butterLONDON Trend Nail Lacquer in Yummy Mummy ($15). As a nail polish afficionado I’m always happy to see them in my boxes. Yummy Mummy is described as a cool beige shimmering nail lacquer. I’m not sure if I can carry this color off. The thing it has going for it is that it’s a cool beige. I noticed that butterLONDON has changed the name (Trend Nail Lacquer) and I couldn’t find it online at Ulta or Sephora. butterLONDON’s website carries all the shades though.

butterLONDON Yummy Mummy

butterLONDON Yummy Mummy

Hikari Cosmetics Eye Liner in Raven ($13) –  it’s a running joke with beauty blogs that they never want to see another black eyeliner again. After all how many can we have? The nice thing about this is that it’s a mechanical pencil so you can carry it around without a sharpener. Great for those office to dinner nights.

Hikari Cosmetics Raven Eye Liner

Hikari Cosmetics Raven Eye Liner

Project Beauty Hairgurt ($11) is a smoothing yogurt hair masque. It contains yogurt protein, prebiotics, quinoa, a botanical oil blend and bio-keratin. The fragrance is Strawberry Banana. It sounds and smells like a smoothie. It’s the kind of hair masque that I’ll save for a spa day since it’s to be used after shampoo. You apply it from roots to ends and wash it out 5 to 10 minutes later. I’m overdue for a masque treatment so this will come in handy. I just hope I don’t go eat something while it’s working its magic on my hair.

Project Beauty Hairgurt in Strawberry Banana

Pur Cosmetics Lip Lure in Graceful ($22) is already a favorite. Lip Lures are a liquid lipstick that aren’t matte nor are they glossy. They hit that middle ground perfectly by being moisturizing and rich in pigment. I love the applicator since the color comes out like a showerhead and then smoothes on gracefully. I totally forgot I owned Graceful or I’d have saved it for a giveaway but now I’ll have a purse one and a vanity one. Graceful is a dark nude.

Studio Makeup “On The Go” Palette ($49.95) – how can a full size palette of 9 neutral eyeshadows be anything but great for most of us! The nude trend isn’t going anywhere. Even if you are a bright eye makeup person there’s always a need for some neutrals. The shades in this palette are a mix of matte and shimmer shadows. The shimmer are of course my favorites but I will get use out of all these shades. It’s a sturdy black cardboard palette that’s heavily magnetized so it won’t open when you are on the go.

I hope you can see why BOXYCHARM is my favorite of all the subscriptions. It’s always a value and I’ve found some fabulous products from it. If I had to stop the flow of money, I’d still keep Boxycharm.  — Marcia

What did Allure send out in their September beauty multitaskers box? #AllureBeautyBox

allure-sept-box

September was a good month for me with my beauty subscriptions. This is the third one I’m writing about this week. Next week I’ll write about Boxycharm and have a giveaway for the products I can’t use from these so this will be a win/win group of reviews. ALLURE BEAUTY BOX ($15 per month) is my newest subscription and I’m still on the fence about it. While I like a good amount of products in the box, I’m just not sure I need this sub. Unlike Sephora Play this has brands that sell everywhere from drugstore to beauty sites to online only sites. This month has one full size product and 5 sample sizes. I didn’t do the math to figure out the value of this $15 subscription although I’m quite sure it’s worth a lot more than what I paid.

September 2016 Allure Beauty Box

September 2016 Allure Beauty Box

Skincare seems to be more prevalent in Allure’s boxes than cosmetics. The August box contained more products with two brands (not products) in both boxes.

Avene Eau Thermale PhysioLift Eyes is a wrinkle smoothing eye treatment. Since I love eye creams I’m happy to have this one to try out. It contains Hyaluronic Acid which is a hero ingredient for me. Although just a regular size sample, not deluxe, I’m happy to see it in the box.

Supergoop Shine On Lip Screen SPF 50 is teeny but it’s a winner. Who doesn’t need a sunscreen for their lips and one that’s easy to carry in any size bag or pocket is happiness. Use this alone or as your gloss for the day. Last month brought me a Supergoop product that is too fragranced for me so this is an improvement.

Supergoop Shine On Lip Screen SPF 50

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk is a repeat brand from last month but not a repeat product. This moisturizing cleanser is one that will end up in my travel bag. One nice thing about it is that you can start with dry skin, rub it on and wash it off. Now if only I’d travel more!

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk

GrandeMascara is something I’ve read about but haven’t had a chance to try yet. It’s said to give you major volume and length and I sure hope so. My lashes have been looking a little too wimpy lately so I can use some help. I’ll report back on it.

GrandeMascara

Orly Breathable Treatment + Color in Nourishing Nude was the one item I was looking forward to when I saw some sneak peaks. This is a new formula from Orly and can be a one coater depending on color. There are 10 colors that you could get but guess what? I don’t look good in nude polish. Nude lips yes but not nude nails. Therefore someone will win this unopened bottle of Orly Breathable in the giveaway.

Bulgari Omnia Paraiba is different than the one pictured so I’m guessing that a variety came in the boxes. This is the prettiest bottle of fragrance. I love the way it looks. Bulgari Omnia Paraiba is a beautiful blue. Sephora describes it as “The fragrance is an olfactive fusion intertwining fruits and flowers in a lively rhythm, a fragrance dedicated to a woman whose exuberant spirit overflows into pure, seductive sensuality.” Someone is going to fall in love with this.

And there we go. More products that I won’t use than I will but I’m not giving up. I’ve seen boxes that have been terrific plus I know everyone’s needs and taste is different. Hope springs eternal! What did you like about the Allure Beauty Box for September?  —  Marcia

Shall we play with Sephora Play?

Sephora Play for September 2016

Sephora Play for September 2016

Sephora Play is now open for new subscribers which means it’s a good time to show you what the latest subscription box has brought. Obviously since it’s a sub from Sephora, everything you get in the package is sold at Sephora. The theme for the month is The UNbasic Basics. So let’s peek in and see what they consider unbasic.

Sephora Play for September 2016

Sephora Play for September 2016

In alphabetical order (old habits die hard) I’ve got pictures of 5 of the 6 deluxe sample items.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS BROW GEL

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, clear

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, clear

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, clear

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, clear

They hit this UNbasic out of the park. First it’s clear so everyone can use it. Second the size is perfect since, like a mascara, you really shouldn’t use it more than 3 months. Third it’s Anastasia Beverly Hills who made their name with eyebrows. You can use this to tame your brows or to set your color.

KAT VON D TATTOO LINER in TROOPER

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

Absolutely perfect for me. While all subscription buyers grouse about black eyeliners, including me, this is different since it’s a liquid liner. I love liquid liners. The best part is that just 2 days before this arrived in the mail I had bought the brown one, Mad Max Brown, in the store. I’ve been using it non-stop too. Now I have both shades so color me UNbasically happy.

LIVING PROOF PERFECT HAIR DAY NIGHT CAP OVERNIGHT PERFECTOR

LIVING PROOF PERFECT HAIR DAY NIGHT CAP OVERNIGHT PERFECTOR

When I reported on my Ipsy Glam bag there was also this size product from Living Proof, 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. I now have this to add to my Living Proof collection which is a good thing. I haven’t tried this yet but it sounds like it could be perfect for my hair. It works overnight and then in the morning you wash it out. I think it’s going to be a great conditioner. Score one more for UNbasic.

OLE HENRIKSEN SHEER TRANSFORMATION

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

This is where there was some variation in Sephora Play for September. Some people received a Dr. Jarts product, others Ole Henriksen. This moisturizer is very light and can double as a makeup primer. There’s basically no fragrance to it (yea) and is oil free. It contains Licorice Root for brightening, Chamomile for soothing, and Vitamin C to encourage production of collagen. I’m on board to try this for sure.

The Rouge Shine Lipsticks are available in 29 High Shine colors. This is a beautiful pink though it is highly fragranced so I’m pretty sure it will be available in a giveaway. As much as I love the shade I haven’t been able to wear Sephora’s lipsticks before. I think it’s the color though that makes this UNbasic.

Missing is ATELIER COLOGNE in SUD MAGNOLIA since it too will be given away so I left it in its opaque envelope. This is described as a floral blend with delicate notes of magnolia with layers of wood and citrus. But I’m not a fragrance wearer.sephora-play-bag

How did I think that Sephora Play did this month? A WINNER. Even with two products that will be given away it definitely hit the mark. These are basics that aren’t so basic and ones that are a welcome addition to my collection. What do you think of the subscription? Is it worth $10 to you?  — Marcia
