Color Care by StriVectin HAIR – Ageless Beauty

Leave it to StriVectin to not only come out with a new terrific haircare line but to add in a product I’ve never used before even after having color treated hair for dozens of years. I received the opportunity to try out StriVectinHAIR Color Care Starter Trio and was eager to have the experience. Now that I’m using it, I’m thrilled.

StriVectin HAIR Color Care Starter Trio

StriVectin HAIR Color Care Starter Trio

This travel size set is the perfect way to know if StriVectin HAIR is for you. There’s a 2 fl oz bottle of Color Care Shampoo, a 2 fl oz bottle of Color Care Conditioner, and the product that makes this even more special – a 1 oz tube of Color Care Vibrancy Booster. The Color Care Trio has lasted me for several weeks and I’m not finished with the 3 products.

StriVectin Color Care Trio

StriVectin Color Care Trio

I haven’t enjoyed washing my hair this much in months. I love how my hair looks and feels after using this. Why do you want this? I’m sure it’s for the same reasons I do. If you color treat your hair you want to use products that are very gentle yet effective. Products that help you retain color and keep it from fading. What makes StriVectin different is that it’s formulated with “NIA-114™ and Chromalast Protein Complex™ to offer UV protection, lock in color, and reduce damage due to coloring treatments. ”

While the shampoo and conditioner are excellent and I feel like they do their job perfectly, it’s the Color Care Instant Vibrancy Booster that has made me excited about StrivectinHAIR. As a matter of fact it’s sitting in my Beauty Brands cart waiting for me to order it.

StriVection HAIR Color Care Instant Vibrancy Booster

StriVection HAIR Color Care Instant Vibrancy Booster

Color Care Instant Vibrancy Booster has a texture that’s between a serum and a conditioner, it’s slightly thicker than a hair serum would be while at the same time it’s thin enough to massage it into your hair easily. Wash, condition, and then vibrancy boost. The way to use the booster is to massage it onto your scalp and then work your way down. Leave it in for 2-3 minutes. It’s recommended to use this 2 to 3 times a week which works great for my personal timing. The Instant Vibrancy Booster targets signs of damage but it also helps strengthen your hair for improved conditioning and luster. When I use it I feel that my hair is shinier than ever.

The products have a luscious smell. I had to stick my nose into the bottles to figure out what it was since it’s not overwhelming. I notice a melon fragrance to them. I can smell it on my hair when I move my head and it makes me smile. Some scented products keep me up at night but these soothe me.

StriVectin HAIR

StriVectin explain all the benefits on their box to show why these contribute to ageless hair. You hair will be strong, radiant, full, hydrated, nourished, smooth, soft, bodified, vibrant, and manageable. I’m going to have to agree with all 10 points. I love running my fingers through my StriVection HAIR head!

StriVectin HAIR Color Care products

StriVectin HAIR Color Care products

This set is one of 3 that StriVectin has and they also have a full line of their products. If you need extra volume try the Max Volume Starter Trio, the secret product in that collection is the Max Volume Bodifying Radiance Serum. If you feel you need to restore and revitalize damaged hair then the Ultimate Restore Starter Trio is the answer to your needs. That too has a special product, the Ultimate Restore Deep Repair Mask. Each trio is $30 or $32 while individual products cost between $10 and $45. Almost every product can be bought in the travel size too if there’s just one you want to test out. That alone is unique.

Beauty Brands carries the StriVectin Hair line along with other online retailers. StriVectin has come so far from their beginning and the direction they are going in with their hair line is making me so happy. Color Care products are just what the (hair) doctor ordered for me.  — Marcia

Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream

The year is almost over, and what better way to send it off than with a giveaway??  I first discovered the Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream ($95) about a year ago. Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream - super thick and creamy

Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream – super thick and creamy

Let’s face it, the first place that really shows your age is the neck and decolletage. However, most of us forget to take care of this delicate skin that is constantly exposed to the sun. If it’s not kept moisturized the skin becomes wrinkled and crepey, looking old way before it should.  The Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream uses some pretty fancy technology called Gravitite-CF Lifting Complex™ and patented NIA-114 technology to rebuild elastin fibers, reduce sagging, and moisturize the skin. As soon as it’s applied, skin looks and feels tighter, and the results just get better over time.

Based on consumer evaluation at 12 weeks:

    • 96% felt tighter skin
    • 96% saw improved firmness
    • 89% saw significant lift

I love the results Strivectin TL Advanced™ Tightening Neck Cream gives me and I know you are going to love it too! Enter today to win one of our last giveaways for 2015.

GIVEAWAY INFORMATION: 1 winner, US only.  The giveaway ends January 11th at 11:59 p.m. EST. As always, entries have two requirements – be a subscriber and leave a comment. Good luck, I hope you are a winner!!  – Lisa

Ulta is one of my happy places. It’s one of my favorite places to shop and probably the store I go to most often. They are easy to use, travel friendly and with 8 separately sealed packs inside they really aren’t that expensive. And to sweeten the deal they have a gwp of Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with any Skyn Iceland purchase. I’d buy this if I didn’t still have half the packets left.
1447635966_2288457__detail_?1447635966Michael Todd Sonic Clear Cleansing System – you’ve heard me talk about this several times. Ulta has this in two colors on their Ageless Beauty page – this adorable floral or the original lavender that I own. But for $149 you’d get much more than the Sonic Clear System which will help exfoliate and cleanse, you’ll also receive Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser with pump (1.7 oz.), Honey & Oat Daily Gentle Cleanser with pump (1.7 oz.) and Jojoba Charcoal Face Scrub (1.35 oz.), These are not samples, these are the real deal. My favorite of those three is the Honey & Oat Daily Gentle Cleanser but I’ve used the others and they are great too.
1447635906_2278297__detail_?1447635906Foreo Lunanow why would I put another cleansing tool in here? Because these are both amazing and they are different. The Foreo Luna ($199) is amazingly gentle. It is great for a very light exfoliation but not as complete as the Michael Todd Sonic Clear Cleansing System. The Foreo Luna is one that you can use any day and every day because it’s not harsh. It massages and soothes and cleanses like nothing else. You can use it in the shower without a worry. It’s a great size for travel and it holds a charge for months on end. Plus it would make an elegant and luxurious gift for someone (including you).
AGELESS BEAUTY shares ideas from $8 to $449 so there’s something at every price range. The gift with purchases will only be available until November 28th so make sure you are shopping by then so you can get something extra for your money. Plus you do know that Ulta is the only site that gives you money back on purchases, don’t you? Right now I just have $3 waiting but I’ll hold off on using that until I accumulate more. It makes shopping at Ulta even better and makes me very happy!  — Marcia

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner makes a real difference #StriVeSTORY #iFabboMember

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

I have finally welcomed StriVectin to my world and in the best possible way. I’ve read about the brand for years and always was interested in it but never bit the bullet. I was sent their ADVANCED RETINOL PORE REFINER by iFabbo to test and I’m a convert. This is the first product that has made a difference on the pores on my face. I’ve seen minor differences through masks, creams, and exfoliation but never like I have with StriVectin.

The goal of Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner is to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and refine texture for a smooth, even complexion. It has both a long term and a short term effectl. Short term they hope to help with the appearance of your pores and with the brightness of your skin. Long term is the same but with the added benefit of getting to the root of the problem and keeping your skin this way.

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

This isn’t a primer that will fill in pores that I’ve counted on for a long time, instead it’s a treatment to visibly reduce pores up to 50%. Large pores are caused by a lot of problems like acne, sun damage, extractions, oil production and genetics. Since my sister has nearly poreless skin what I always assumed was genetics wasn’t what caused mine. Instead it was from extremely oily skin that produced a lot of sebum when I was young. I had terrible blackouts though very little breakouts. When my mom would get frustrated with me, she’d extract the blackheads with her fingers. Obviously a no-no but back in the dark ages what did we know? At least the oily skin has kept me looking young.

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner has a combination of ingredients with Retinol and NIA-114 being the main ones to be aware of. In the past I haven’t had a lot of success with products that have high amounts of retinol within, my skin has turned red and uncomfortable. The percentage of retinol in this StriVectin Refiner is under 1% though so my skin tolerates it well. I haven’t had any irritation at all. “Retinol improves skin’s natural cell turnover to visibly diminish the look of pore size by purifying and refining skin tone and texture. Patented NIA-114™ technology nourishes and strengthens the moisture barrier, limiting the sensitivity common to Retinol use.” When I first started using this I just used it once a day to test it out but within a week I was able to use it morning and evening.

This is the very last step in my skincare routine. Every other product is on and then I massage a small amount over my skin. It even goes on over sunscreen. It helps mattify your skin which is fine with me.

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

Strivection Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

While this hasn’t been a miracle worker, it has certainly made a difference for me. My cheeks have been the beneficiary of the magic of Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner. I notice that my pores are much less visible. My foundation doesn’t gather in them and cream blushes are on my skin, not hidden in the craters pores too. My nose is still suffering with the problem of pores but they are definitely reduced. Gunk doesn’t gather in those pores but I still see them. Of course my weapon of choice is my 8X magnifying mirror and I doubt most of the people I encounter have vision quite that good.

At $99 for 1.7 oz this is an investment but one I’m willing to make. I’m testing a new skincare line with a product that promises to help with enlarged pores and once I’m done I plan to go back to this StriVectin Pore Refiner. It’s taken over a dozen years but I’ve finally found a product that I can trust and that doesn’t make me cringe when I’m looking at myself in a mirror.

Have you tried any StriVectin products? Have you had success with them? — Marcia

Birchbox for March and April 2013 brought some nice surprises

I’m back with two months of Birchbox. I totally forgot to report about the Birchbox March box so when I received the April box I decided to put them together. One thing I notice often is how much they mix up the boxes. One of my Makeup Wars’ blogger friends, Brooke from Blushing Noir, never seems to get what I get. Sometimes I envy her boxes, I wonder if she ever envies mine!

For March the box was called March Madness in honor of the basketball furor going on I’m sure. Since University of Michigan made it into the final game for the first time in over 20 years, I was all about March Madness. I am happy with this box for the $10 I spent and you’ll see why as you read on.

Birchbox March Madness 2013

Birchbox March Madness 2013

birchbox march card

My box contained a Blueberry Whish Shaving Cream, Nick Chavez shampoo, 2 products from MAKE (eyeshadow and primer) and as the Lifestyle Extra a floral Madewell nail file.

Contents of Birchbox for March

Contents of Birchbox for March

Whish: one of my favorite brands, I discovered this long ago and especially like their shaving cream. We have several reviews for Whish up on Beauty Info Zone since it’s a brand we admire. The blueberry fragrance is a little strong for me but I put it in my “possibles” bag – the bag I scour through before packing.

Nick Chavez shampoo and Whish blueberry shaving cream

Nick Chavez shampoo and Whish blueberry shaving cream

NICK CHAVEZ Color Saver sulfate-free shampoo: not excited. I get a ton of hair samples in these subscription boxes. (Maybe that’s a hint that I should drop some!) But it is good that it’s for color treated hair and it’s sulfate free.

MAKE face primer: My picture makes this look a lot bigger than it is, it’s actually quite tiny but I’ve been very interested in MAKE products and have a review for other products coming up. This is a good way for me to test out this and I’ll report more in my MAKE review.

MAKE Concrete Eyeshadow and Face Primer

MAKE Concrete Eyeshadow and Face Primer

-MAKE eyeshadow: This is teeny weeny but that’s okay when you have 2 gazillion eyeshadows. The color is called Cement so you have a good idea of what it looks like!! Cement is a matte shadow. Unfortunately it doesn’t look quite right with my other MAKE eyeshadow so it’s going to have to “make” other friends.

Make Concrete

MAKE Concrete

MADEWELL floral emery board: it’s pretty but I have my gorgeous Mont Bleu files that I prefer.

There was also a card for a free Benefit Bad Girl Lash mini if you spent $25 at That went in recycling.

Birchbox April 2013

Birchbox April 2013

Now for April’s Birchbox which is themed “Tiny Tweaks, Big Results”. Sometimes I need to remind myself that Birchbox is a “sample” box. Some of the samples are a decent size, but some are so small! For April there are two products I’m very happy about. The box contains Nexxus, Youngblood, Caudalie, Weleda and Strivectin.

Inside the April 2013 Birchbox

Inside the April 2013 Birchbox

NEXXUS Youth Renewal Rejuvenating Elixer: More hair goodies (but luckily no fragrance!!!!) This is a shine boosting serum that helps prevent breakage. It makes me feel bad since it’s for “aging” hair. Boo hoo, even my hair ages??

Caudalie Divine Oil, Nexxus

Caudalie Divine Oil, Nexxus Elixer

CAUDALIE Divine Oil: I’m probably one of the few people who isn’t a Caudalie follower. It’s usually too fragranced for me. This oil is meant to be used on skin, hair and nails. I might give it a chance since it gets amazing raves.

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

YOUNGBLOOD Anti-Shine Mattifier: Now this is a product I can give great reviews for. The only bad news is that I bought the full size one when I was in LA for the IMATS show. This is the size of a MAC eyeshadow so it might be a little hard to use but it’s a great way to see if this great product works for you and for me it can be put in my travel Z Palette.

Strivectin-SD Eye Concentrate

Strivectin-SD Eye Concentrate

STRIVECTIN-SD Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles: I always get excited about eye creams and this is one I haven’t tried so here’s the second winner in this box. Who knows when I’ll get around to it since I have a few eye creams to review but I’m really looking forward to trying this.

This month there’s also a postcard for a totally free one year subscription to Women’s Health. The value of that is $9.99 so that’s a nice extra that I’ll take advantage of.

Weleda body lotion packets

Weleda body lotion packets

For the Lifestyle Extras there are 3 packets of body lotion from WELEDA. These are great for that “possibles” bag I told you about. They are probably one use each but I like tossing things when I travel. The one fragrance going into my bag is the Pomegranate; the other two Wild Rose and Sea Buckthorn will probably be in a giveaway contest as a hidden extra.

So there you have two months of BIRCHBOX.  I like the March box a lot and I really like the April box so these were good months for me. This is my 30th month with them which means I’ve spent $300 on samples. Am I totally crazy? Shh – don’t answer that, I know that I am. Birchbox will continue for another month – which is what I say every month. Did you get any of these in your boxes? — Marcia

Disclosure: I pay for my own Birchbox but I’ve linked to my referral code which would get me points towards possible products.

For other boxes here are the ones that Blushing Noir received so you can see how different hers are: March and April.

Verge One – I would say that two lines dramatically changed my daily appearance in 2012.  The first is Verge One.  Their ‘texture wands’ have completely changed the way I wear my hair.  Now pretty much every day I am curly or wavy, and I love it.  The texture wands are truly fabulous finds for which I am extremely grateful!

More lashes = love!

More lashes = love!

Novalash – the second line that dramatically changed my daily appearance in 2012 is Novalash.  I had what I thought were nicely dramatic eyelashes thanks to Latisse…and then I found Novalash.  WOW.  My lashes are huge and beautiful and easy to care for every single day.  This is a ‘get down on my knees and say THANK YOU‘ find!!

Lush – Reflecting back on 2012, I remember so many awesome, entertaining products from Lush.  Seriously, everything they make is not only useful and practical, it’s also a blast.

Who knew blue hair could be so fun?

HairUWear – another surprising super fun discovery for me this year were hair extensions.  I adore the ones I have tried from HairUWear, whether they are lively and funky bright colors or seriously hair-enhancing extensions.  Absolute enjoyment that reminded me I need to step outside my comfort zone to make new discoveries.

Skin Chemists Wrinkle Killer

Skin Chemists Wrinkle Killer – the snake serum is far more than a marketing ploy. This stuff works. If you want less wrinkles in 2013, get yourself some Wrinkle Killer.

If 2013 is even close to as good as 2012 was, then we have a LOT to look forward to.  2012 was chock full of great discoveries, wonderful ‘old faithfuls’, tons of joy and nothing to complain about.  Life is good!  – Lisa
