Eyeko is making us EYEMAZING in today’s Side by Side!

Eyeko was probably the first brand to make us think about having a ‘wardrobe’ of eye products. We used to think one mascara worked for every occasion – but sometimes we just need defined lashes. Sometimes we want a little more drama. Sometimes we want drama the level of a highlight reel from COPS. The same for brows and of course for eyeshadow – just one product doesn’t cut it. Basically, we love lots of options when choosing what products to wear and Eyeko has given us some excellent goodies to play with!

Lisa’s eyes are wearing Tinted Brow Gel, Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner, and Lash Alert Mascara Wake Up and Go:

It’s been super hot this summer and I have been wishing for a great brow gel to take the place of my brow wax. I have nice brows but they need a little extra color boost and they definitely need some help staying in place. They tend to droop and look shaggy.  I absolutely love the Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel ($24)!

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel swatch

It has a shorter, fatter spoolie, and the gel is tinted. It’s a medium brown with just a hint of shimmer in it. The spoolie really grabs the hairs and puts them in place, and the tint is perfect. It gives the right amount of color and a touch of brightness which opens the eye area. I love this!!

  • Tinted Gel
  • With vitamins, antioxidants, Keratin, Ginkgo Biloba and botanical proteins to promote growth
  • Natural, long-lasting hold without flaking or stiffness

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

The Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner ($22) is a great liquid eyeliner – it was inspired by calligraphy brushes – that goes on like a thin magic marker. It creates a very thin, precise line like a liquid liner, but without the mess. You can have shaky pre-coffee morning hands and still end up with a gorgeous line. This is especially good for cats eye looks, as well as very precise thick lines.

  • Contains Widelash with a tripeptide boost to promote lash growth for up to 3x more length and volume in 15 days
  • Japanese precision brush tip for single stroke colour
  • Waterproof, long-wear, fade-proof
  • Carbon Black

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Lash Alert Mascara Wake Up and Go ($26) is a fantastic mascara – this is a must have! The curved brush is excellent for picking up every single lash. It does take several coats to get the full effect, but three coats gives lots of drama that doesn’t smudge, flake, or smear. It thickens up lashes beautifully with fibers and gives tons of volume and definition. It also washes off easily, which is a big plus. I love this mascara and it’s been a heavy hitter in my mascara rotation!

  • Shea Butter to nourish
  • Caffeine to stimulate
  • Arginine to repair
  • Biotinoyl Tripepetide to regenerate
  • Biotin to thicken
  • Full contact helix brush to curl and volumise
  • Carbon Black
  • Award-winning Korean technology
  • Water-resistant tubing formula
  • Zero-waste squeezy tube
  • No running, smudging, crumbling or flaking
  • Paraben-free
  • Cruelty-free
  • Locks in colour and hold for 12hr+

Marcia’s eyes are wearing Making Eyes 3 in 1 Brush, Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Eyeliner in Topaz, Charcoal, and Bronze:

Eyeko Me & My Shadow Liners and 3-in-1 Brush

Anyone that knows my taste knows I’m a huge fan of cream eyeshadows so the shadow eyeliners from Eyeko are a big hit for me. I have 3 of the 6 shades available (Topaz, Quartz, Taupe, Chocolate, Bronze, and Charcoal) and will need to be at least one more to get myself through the summer. Taupe is calling to me right now and it’s one of the shades that Ulta carries!

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in Topaz, Bronze, and Charcoal

While I will adore the Eyeko Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Eyeliners all year it’s in summer that these really make their mark. They are truly waterproof. These last all day and night until you remove them with eye makeup remover. Water doesn’t take off the color unless you scrub and scrub which you don’t want to do. Putting some remover on a cotton pad removes them so that tomorrow you can try a new combination. To test out these shadow liners I’ve used eyeshadow primer on one eye and left my skin alone on the other. There’s no creasing or fading either way so that saves a step.

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in Charcoal, Bronze, and Topaz

Topaz is a champagne shade that is on the verge of being metallic. It brightens my eyes whether I wear it on the lid or on my browbone. I crave this type of color so it’s #1 with me. Bronze is a bright shade that plays so nicely with my brown eyes. It seems to bring out my eye color. The blending of these is amazing since they are soft and silky. Charcoal can be worn sooty or you can blend it down to a softer gray and that’s where the beauty lies. It has teeny bits of sparkle that don’t travel but livens up your smokey eye look.

Eyeko Me & My Shadow Brush

What makes the Eyeko eyeshadow crayons stand out from the crowd is the brush on the opposite end. It is a great tool to blend these out or to smoke the colors out. The brush makes these liners so much more versatile and a great travel companion.

Eyeko Making Eyes 3-in-1 Brush

I am totally blown away with the Eyeko Making Eyes 3-IN-1 Brush. This is the best travel tool I’ve found in all my searching. Brushes are my thing and I never travel without favorites but Eyeko is going to replace that huge brush set in its compactness. I am loving not only the simplicity of this tool but the way it works. “Travel-friendly packaging ensures each brush is covered and hygienically capped to keep your makeup bag pristine.”

Measuring almost 6 inches long there are 3 brushes and all work beautifully. For the eyeliner brush you just pull out and there’s a nicely angled brush that works well with gel liner as well as the shadow liners. Pull off the the first cap and there’s a rounded blending brush that does its job like a pro. One more pull and you’ll find the define brush that reminds me of the MAC 242 that I use constantly. But this gives me everything I need for only $20. I can’t tell you how great I think this is. There aren’t enough words!

It’s pretty obvious that both of us are thrilled with our Eyeko treasures but what we didn’t tell you yet is about the brand. “Created by beauty veterans Max and Nina Leykind, their mascaras and liners are favored by celebs and hotshot make-up artists alike. With style icon Alexa Chung on board as Creative Consultant – she credits them with creating her favorite look – Eyeko give the definitive edit for eyes.” You can find Eyeko at Ulta as well as their own website (free shipping) and it’s a brand well worth seeking out.

Ever think of Ugly Soap? Now’s your opportunity.

sample

Yes there is something called Ugly Soap. And it’s not even an insult to call it that even in these politically correct times. Ugly Soap is actually from Flower Mound Soap Works so it’s not as bad as it sounds. There are 5 Ugly Soaps in their collection: Original Face Soap, Ugly Green Soap for combination skin, Ugly Yellow Soap for mature skin, Ugly White Soap for oily skin, and Ugly Rose soap for sensitive skin.

Flower Mound Soap Works Ugly Rose Soap

So why is this attractive soap called Ugly? Looks can be deceiving with these Ugly Soaps. Despite pale colors and bumpy appearances, Ugly Soaps hide a powerful secret: they’re the best facial soap you’ll ever use! And there’s an Ugly Soap for every beautiful skin type.

Flower Mound Soap Works is an independent soap maker that customizes their products and gives back to their community. That always makes us interested in a line. Not only are they good for the environment but they actively partner with local shelters and keep their doors and heart open to charitable events. Their handmade body soaps are works of beauty but beauty is also in the eye of the beholder so their ugly soaps are pretty beautiful too once you get to know them.

Marcia and her Ugly Yellow Soap

Flower Mount Soap Works Ugly Yellow

As someone with mature yet neurotic skin the Yellow Soap is the best choice for me. The color is definitely ugly and nothing you want to show off in your vanity but that’s not the point of it. The point is to get the best skin possible and if it takes ugly then so be it. Some days my skin can feel dry as the desert, other days it feels like Rachel Ray sprayed me with EVOO. Therefore I want a cleanser that understands that my skin is sensitive while old.

Flower Mount Soap Works Ugly Yellow

Ugly yellow is loaded with Rhassoul Clay which is particularly good for sensitive or mature skin because it cleans and exfoliates gently while improving skin elasticity. Other ingredients like tea tree essential oil, colloidal oatmeal, and aloe vera powder clean, exfoliate and soothe your skin.

Ingredients: Distilled Water, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Shea Butter, Sodium Hydroxide, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil, Colloidal Oatmeal, French Green Clay, Sodium Lactate, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Activated Charcoal, Zinc Oxide, Aloe Vera Powder. Essential Oils: Tea Tree, Peppermint, Lavender

Flower Mount Soap Works Ugly Yellow

Ugly Yellow Soap isn’t one I use nightly but it is great when I’m feeling especially clogged or needy. It does have a fragrance but it isn’t as strong as it first appears.

Lisa and her Ugly Green Soap

Flower Mound Ugly Green Soap

My soap is Ugly Green, which is perfect for my normal to oily skin. I have an oily t-zone – my chin, nose, and forehead get quite oily and shiny and tend to break out, even though I am waaaay past my teenage years. My cheeks are more on the dry side and can even get flaky in dry weather.

Flower Mound Ugly Green Soap

Flower Mound Ugly Green Soap

The green of my Ugly Green soap is French green clay, which soaks up impurities and removes them from skin without drying it out. It leaves my skin cleansed keeps my pores from getting all clogged up, so I stay clear of breakouts. At the same time, my skin doesn’t get dried out, which would exaggerate fine lines. My goodness I sure don’t need that!! In the end, my Ugly Green soap leaves me feeling pretty, with very healthy, glowy skin.

It’s all about eyes with Jesse’s Girl!

Jesses girl logoWe love testing anything color at the BIZ, but our favorite is probably eyeshadow and eyeliner. They are like magic markers and crayons for adults! Jesse’s Girl, the fashion-forward yet budget conscious line, sent us some great eye products to play with and we can’t wait to share them with you today.  Get ready to play!

Jesse's Girl Eyeshadow Primer and 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact in Dream Girl

Jesse’s Girl Eyeshadow Primer and 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact in Dream Girl

Lisa’s having fun with the Eye Shadow Primer ($5.99) and the 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact in Dream Girl ($3.99)

I just can’t over the prices on these products!! The Eye Shadow Primer has an excellent price and come on – at just four bucks, why not buy all five versions of the 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact?? These are products to really experiment with – try all those fun looks on Pinterest without any guilt!

Jesse's Girl Eyeshadow Primer

Jesse’s Girl Eyeshadow Primer

The Eye Shadow Primer is very nice. It’s a silky primer that isn’t too wet. It creates a smooth canvas for eyeshadows and increases wear time. I find that when I use this, I get far less creasing, especially with cream eyeshadows.

Dream Girl

Dream Girl

The 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact is nine pans of playtime. I have Dream Girl, which is a collection of super pretty neutral shades that range from creamy off white to deep shimmery brown. The one black sheep color is the deep purple shade which seems a little out of place, but it actually makes for a great addition to the slew of variations of tan, beige, and taupe.

There is everything anyone could need for a neutral eye in this palette and the deep purple and deep shimmery brown are great for lining or for some lid or crease drama. You will want to layer to get more color payoff, but hey, at this price why not go crazy??

There are four other options available, including Tickled Pink, The Eyes Have It, Brown Eyed Girl, and Behind Blue Eyes. (photos from jessesgirl.com)

The texture of these shadows vary a bit from pan to pan, but overall they are not too powdery. They go on sheer but you can build them up for more color. They blend well and wear well, especially when I wear them along with the Eye Shadow Primer. And again, at this price, you just can’t go wrong!!

Marcia’s having fun with Liquid Eyeliners ($6.99)

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners

I don’t leave the house without eyeliner. It’s a necessity to me and at $6.99 each I can have as many as I’d want. That’s where Jesse’s Girl comes into play. I was sent 4 shades and promptly went out and bought 1 more, that’s how much I like them.

I wear liquid eyeliner 90% of the time with gel liners and pencils making up the other 10%. I seem to have a knack for putting them on. Even with crinkly lids at times I get a smooth straight line with these Jesse’s Girl eyeliners.

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown, Lilac, Blue Hawaii and Snow White

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown, Lilac, Blue Hawaii and Snow White

They are available in 6 shades – 2 Waterproof Eyeliners in Black and Dark Brown and 4 playful shades in Violet, Snow White,  Blue Hawaii, and Olive. Something for everyone and a color for every look.

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown

I love the point on these since they are thin yet sturdy. As long as I shake them up before use I get a steady line without skipping. And they last really well. One of my eyes tears up often at the end and they will fade there but not disappear.

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black and Dark Brown

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black and Dark Brown

Believe it or not it’s really hard to find a dark brown liquid eyeliner that doesn’t pull red. Everyone makes black eyeliner but not everyone makes dark brown which is what I wear most of the time. Jesse’s Girl Dark Brown Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner is one of the best I’ve found in the drugstore. Luckily the Rite Aid closest to my house has Jesse’s Girl on display so I had no trouble finding it in person.

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown, Lilac (x2), Blue Hawaii and Snow White

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown, Lilac (x2), Blue Hawaii and Snow White

Black has an almost patent effect so it’s shiny, Dark Brown is exactly what it should be (rich and a true brown), Lilac is just the most fun shade as it’s a very pretty purple that adds a great touch, White is a true white and one you won’t find anywhere else at this price, and Blue Hawaii looks like a true ocean blue.

Water, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, CI 77266, Butylene Glycol, Laureth -21, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoloxyethanol, Methylparaben, Dilaureth-10 Phosphate, Polysorbate 80, Propylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Ethylparaben, Disodium EDTA

If you are a novice at applying liquid eyeliner these are a perfect place to start. You want something that gives you a substantial container to hold onto and you want a brush that isn’t going to flop, bend, or smear. The tip of Jesse’s Girl is perfect IMO. I’m not a novice and I find these to be great and easy to work with.jesses girl eyeliner info

We’ve been having a ball using all of our Jesse’s Girl products. The prices are right so there’s plenty of room to play. They have products for girls who want to have fun, women who are serious about their makeup, and people who like to experiment without going broke. Have your eyes been having fun? No matter what you answer introduce them to Jesse’s Girl.

Goldwell Kerasilk brings shine and control even to the hair we hate

Goldwell Haircare is the creator of many fine products including color, styling, shampoo/conditioner, dry shampoo, and the list goes on. It’s one of the highest regarded names in hair care available today. We were given the opportunity to try out the Kerasilk line which we were thrilled about. Lisa already knew and loved Goldwell but it’s a new line for Marcia. Kerasilk has unique ingredients like engineered Keratin and lightweight silk that contribute to the integrity of the products.

KERASILK

Kerasilk is the new, revolutionary luxury hair care line that delivers long-lasting hair transformations providing beauty, strength and protection. The secret: the KT3 combination of engineered Keratin, lightweight silk and high-performing KeraShape Technology with Glyoxilic Acid.

MARCIA’S 2 PRODUCTS

Goldwell Kerasilk Reconstruct and Control

Goldwell Kerasilk Reconstruct and Control

Little did I know that when I met Lisa for our monthly meetup that she would be drooling when I handed over her Goldwell Kerasilk product to use and review. I think if we’d been close to my house she would have driven over to take mine away from me. Even though I’ve heard of Goldwell and wanted to try the line, it just never happened for me. But now I have to hide my two goodies from my pal!

GOLDWELL KERASILK RECONSTRUCT RESTORATIVE BALM is the daily balm from them and it’s doing wonders for my hair. I like to get my hair professionally straightened but it’s been over a year since I’ve had the time or money to do so. Therefore a product known for its innovative use of keratin is something I appreciate.

Goldwell Kerasilk NEW Reconstruct Restorative Balm

Goldwell Kerasilk NEW Reconstruct Restorative Balm

Since I use heat on my hair daily I welcome this new version of Reconstruct as it helps with the severe frizzies as well as protects my hair from that heat. It has a fragrance that doesn’t last long (although I’ll notice it later if my hair gets damp) and it helps me wet brush through my hair after applying it. Not only that but it has color protection to it also. It’s not a very thick balm but I don’t need much more than a flat quarter size to get my shoulder length hair ready for drying. It can be used on dry hair but I haven’t tried it that way. My hair stays smooth and managed throughout the day.

GOLDWELL KERASILK CONTROL INTENSIVE SMOOTHING MASK is my heavy-duty babe. This is for the hair I hate – frizzy, out of control, and just plain fugly. But after a weekly dose of this mask my hair is back to smoothness again.

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask

I appreciate this smoothing mask more than I can say. My hair becomes shiny and easy to style with it. I can feel it protecting my hair from heat. I notice less fragrance from Control than I do with Reconstruct, surely because I wash it out.

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask with its spatula

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask with its spatula

Directions say to apply this to wet or towel dried hair, leave it in for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. I do it all in one step in the shower so on the days I’m going to use Control I wash my hair first, apply this mask and then keep my head out of the water. I leave it in for at least 5 minutes (more if my shower doesn’t decide to run out of warm water), then rinse. I personally don’t use the balm on the same day but use another one so that my nose won’t get overwhelmed.

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask

See that cool super size spatula? It comes nestled in the top of the jar lid so that your fingers don’t contaminate the product – or in my case, get the mask under my fingernails. You can see too that it’s thick but not too thick. You know you are getting more enrichment from this intensive mask than you would from a conditioner.

My results are great with both products. Great enough that I’m not inviting Lisa over to my new house unless I hide these away.

LISA’S 1 PRODUCT

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Oh yeah…when I saw this, I looked at Marcia and said, “I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars on Goldwell Kerasilk products!! They are amazing!!!” Then I demanded that she hand over every new product we get from here on out. We shall see if she honors my demands!

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Repower Volume Foam Conditioner is definitely different from any hair product I have ever tried before. I thought it was a hair mousse…then I thought it was leave-in conditioner. But it’s neither. It’s a foam conditioner that is applied to wet hair after shampooing. You leave it in for two minutes, then rinse.

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

This is what I consider a specialty hair product. It’s not going to work for everyone. It works for me, because I have fine hair that tends to be limp. It needs some volume and a little ‘oomph’. If you have fine hair, you will love this – it gives hair texture, body, and resilience without weighing it down. What it doesn’t do is make hair soft and shiny, so if that’s what you want, check out the products Marcia reviewed (and is giving to me because SHE PROMISED ME!!!)

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

Goldwell Kerasilk Repower Volume Foam Conditioner

I definitely had fun using the Repower Volume Foam Conditioner.  I mean, just look at that foam….it looks like shaving cream, whipped cream, and hair mousse all got together and had a baby! I sooo wanted to give myself a Santa mustache and beard just for fun before I used it properly. And since there were no witnesses, I’m not admitting to anything.

Ultimately, I had lots of volume and texture without having to use any other styling products. Goldwell Kerasilk is a tremendous line with hair products that address every hair need that exists, so be sure to take a look and see what they have to offer that will turn the hair you hate into the hair you love.

LISA HAS CRUELTY-FREE LIPSTICK/LIP LINER SETS

Ok, true confession:  when I first saw the colors of these lip sets, two words ran through my mind:  OH NO.  I never thought in a million years that these shades would work for me…plus they are matte.  That alone is usually the kiss of death for my thin, skinny lips.  My MO is to brighten my lips up as much as possible and give them all the thickness I can get without needles full of Restalyne, typically with tons of shine and shimmer and pinky/rosy/peachy shades.  But I was very happy to give the Matte Liquid Lipstick & Lip Liner Sets a whirl, especially after I read this quote from DJ Victory:

“It’s my hope that each morning when women apply their makeup that they will remember that they are beautiful with or without it. I try to be always grateful for what I have. Sometimes that is difficult when we live in a society that makes us feel less than if we don’t meet certain beauty standards. I hope these beautiful colored lipsticks and fluttery eyelashes remind women to always see the beauty within themselves and others as well as to show compassion, teach gratitude, and remain humble.”

How can you not adore her??

Macy & Mia Liquid Lipstick in Samantha and Tristan

Macy & Mia Liquid Lipstick in Samantha and Tristan

Macy & Mia Lip Liner in Samantha and Tristan

Macy & Mia Lip Liner in Samantha and Tristan

Ok, so back to the Matte Liquid Lipstick and Lip Liner Sets ($24.99).  The Lip Liner is a gel liner that glides on and creates a perfect canvas for the Matte Liquid Lipstick.  Matte lipsticks are notorious for showing every crack and wrinkle, so a matching creamy lip liner that also acts as a moisturizing balm is a total bonus.  Lucky for us, the liners come free with these!  The shades are very interesting – the two I tested are most definitely throwback shades to the 1990’s, which is a lot of fun.  If you wear them full on, they dry matte and stay on for a long time with strong opaque color.  Or, as I discovered, you can blot blot blot right after application, and they are the shy sister of the full on bold color – pretty, feminine, still unique but oh so wearable at any age.  Yay!!!!  These are sets that my 17-year-old steals when I’m not looking, but I still want them enough to refuse to give them up.  They are pretty terrific.

Macy and Misa Tristan Liquid Lipstick (macyandmia.com)

Macy and Misa Tristan Liquid Lipstick (macyandmia.com)

Tristan Liquid Lipstick is a cool coco brown that takes me right back to 1996. Interestingly, I see this shade on the high school girls all of the time now…it’s definitely making a comeback.  I never thought I could wear it, and when I first put it on I was like, oh hell no.

Luckily I grabbed a tissue and did the classic lip blot three times, which was the exact magic formula to make this shade work beautifully for me.

Macy and Mia Samantha Liquid Lipstick (macyandmia.com)

Macy and Mia Samantha Liquid Lipstick (macyandmia.com)

The Samantha Liquid Lipstick is a smokey lavender with grey undertones.  Again, I thought oh no way can I pull this off.  But guess what?  With the three magical blots I not only pull it off, I love it!!  It turns into a soft grey purple berry shade that is different and feminine.  So pretty and it reminds me of spring lilacs.

I am just shocked that I love the shades Tristan and Samantha, and I adore the moisturizing lip liner and liquid lipstick combo.  In fact, I would go so far as to say I am rather obsessed.  I really want to try Jennifer, which is a deep pink; Jessica, which is a pale peach; and Heather, which is a mauve/neutral nude.  I honestly can’t wait to try them all.

A the BIZ, we love animals as much as we love cosmetics.  So it’s no surprise that we adore the super fun Macy & Mia line and are thrilled that part of the profits go toward Pay It Forward For Pets, a 100% non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in need.  We really hope you check out this whimsical yet practical line for yourself!!

Has Mally H3 Concealer met the mark when it comes to concealing?

Mally H3 Concealer

Mally H3 Concealer

The Beauty Info Zone team had fallen madly in love with Mally Beauty Dark Circle Corrector. We gushed about it and were thrilled to own it. Then when we went to purchase it again, it was gone!! Disappointment doesn’t even cover how we felt. But Mally Beauty is back to the rescue with their H3 CONCEALER so they’ve made it up to us. And to their customers. When we were sent this new concealer we were eager to see if it lived up to our old favorite.

Mally H3 Concealer is available in 5 shades (Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, and Rich). Available at Ulta and QVC (limited shades) it’s considered to be a hydrating and brightening concealer. Let’s see how this stacks up in our book.

MARCIA HAS H3 CONCEALER IN FAIR

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

Mally has redeemed herself. I was really missing the Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter and savoring what little I had left. When I received this new creamy concealer I wasn’t sure if it could the original off its pedestal but it stands right up there with it.

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

In the tube the concealer appears very light and a good match for my fair cool toned skin. If you are uber pale this might not be quite light enough for you but for most of the fair maidens in the land this will work.

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

Mally H3 Concealer in Fair

When first applied it has a yellow cast but have no fear since it blends so seamlessly into skin that the yellow just tends to brighten your undereye area. I’m currently applying it with the wand, smoothing it in with a Beauty Junkees mini kabuki brush, and then melding it onto my skin with the warmth of my finger.

Besides my undereye area I often have to conceal around my nose and that area worries me since product can disappear into my pores there. I use just the lightest touch of H3 Concealer with my finger and it looks natural, removing the redness that can appear.

Overall I think that Mally saved the day. When looking up where to purchase this I found a great deal on QVC which I’ll be taking advantage of – Mally Correct, Conceal & Brighten 3 piece collection. The collection contains this H3 Concealer, Dark Circle Corrector, and Perfect Prep Neutralizing Primer. Now I can safely finish the remains of my Dark Circle Corrector and have a new one and a backup of this great concealer.

LISA HAS H3 CONCEALER IN MEDIUM

Mally H3 Concealer in Medium

Mally H3 Concealer in Medium

I think I actually cried when Marcia told me my favorite Dark Circle Corrector was no longer available!! I have extremely dark undereye circles and it takes industrial strength concealer to mask them…or something with a miracle inside, like the Dark Circle Corrector, which did so without looking heavy or cakey. So I was hoping for something similar but certainly doubted I would be finding the exact same rainbow inside this tube.

In the tube the concealer appears pretty yellow…I thought it would be too warm for my neutral skin. However, it’s actually quite forgiving and will work for most medium skin tones.

I dot this on from the bottom of my nose to the outside of each eye, then underneath my nose where I tend to have red capillaries. Then I use my beloved Artis Oval 6 Brush to smooth the concealer out and it blends in perfectly, making dark circles disappear and causing eye bags to go packing. As Marcia mentioned, the yellow tint works to brighten the undereye area which is always a plus.

If you were a huge fan of the Mally Dark Circle Corrector, you can come out of mourning…the H3 Concealer is definitely here to save the day and save you from dark circles!  We think the best place to find it right now is at QVC and the best deal is the Mally Correct, Conceal & Brighten 3 Piece Collection.  Happy Sunday and happy shopping!!

The Tree Hut Bare collection is going to change your bath time

We’re fairly new to the Tree Hut family of products but we think we’ll be sticking around for a while. Tree Hut’s representatives sent us a package of their BARE products to get to know the brand and we’ve been busy using them. We’re excited about sharing these so that you can become a part of the family too.

Marcia is sharing 2 Tree Hut Bare products that are making her smooth as can be

TREE HUT SHAVE PREP SUGAR SCRUB ($9.99)

This tub friendly scrub is helping me shave my legs and underarms. I like this much better than a shaving cream because it’s a double duty product. It exfoliates my legs and at the same time lifts the hair so that I can get a closer shave.

The fragrance of this delicious and makes me wish I had a bigger hot water tank so I could enjoy exfoliating my legs longer. It softens my skin and leaves it lightly scented after. I use an unscented body lotion after shaving my legs so that the lightly fragrance of almond/coconut aroma sticks around longer.

It’s formulated with Oat Kernel which helps soothe and relieve skin irritation. There’s Avocado Oil in it and sugar and those help exfoliate and moisturize. Coconut Extract is a natural product that contains the necessary proteins for tissue repair. Put them all together with your favorite razor and you have soft sleek skin.

TREE HUT BARE HAIR REMOVING SUGAR WAX KIT ($14.99)

Tree Hut Bare Hair Removing Sugar Wax Kit

Tree Hut Bare Hair Removing Sugar Wax Kit

This is a new type of product for me. I’ve never waxed by myself before so this was a paradigm change for me. I have only tried it on my legs but I’m anxious to try it on my face since it’s good for removing hair on your legs, body, and face.

To use you remove the cap and heat the jar in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir and reheat in 15 second intervals if needed. What you want is the consistency of honey. With one of the sticks in the kit apply the wax on clean skin in the direction of hair growth. Make sure that the amount you apply is smaller than the size of the strip. While warm smooth the strip over the product and rub in the same direction. Now comes the scary part  –  hold your skin taut and remove the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. It’s best if you hair is about 1/4″ long before use which is why I haven’t tried it on my face yet.

The kit contains 8 oz. of Hair Removing Sugar Wax, 10 wax strips, and 3 wooden applicators. It’s not a one time deal since you can use it again by just heating up the jar.

Ingredients: Honey, Sucrose, Allantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylexylglycerin

TREE HUT BARE MOISTURIZING SHAVE OIL  ($11.99)

Wow, is this stuff amazing!! I typically just reach for some soap when I am shaving my legs or under my arms, but not anymore. I adore this deliciously scented shaving oil. It smells fantastic…like tropical freshness. Smooth it onto wet skin and even a dull razor just glides across skin. It leaves your skin with the closest shave imaginable and the softest skin ever.  This is a real keeper.

TREE HUT BARE HAIR MINIMIZING BODY BUTTER ($9.99)

Another super smelling product!! This is a thick, creamy body butter that gradually reduces hair growth. You have to use it for a month before seeing noticeable results. I used it for five weeks and did notice a difference. I’m sure that if I continued with it, I would have even better results, but since I’m not a very hairy person to begin with and I have so many body products to try I probably won’t.

My daughter, however, is really excited about this and is already bugging me to stop by Ulta to get another jar. I will probably just use it as a body butter from time to time because it does a fabulous job of softening skin and it smells tropical and fresh.

If you want to freshen up your hair removal routine, we recommend checking out the Tree Hut…the BIZ gives it high marks and we can’t wait to try other products from this excellent line. You can find Tree Hut products online at Amazon and at Ulta stores.
