Get all that glitters with Sally Hansen Enchanting Gems Collection

Yes thank you, I’d love to be dripping in gems. I’ll take diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds. While we’re at it throw in some pearls, lapis, and amethyst to make my life complete. If I can’t have those can I have the new Sally Hansen Color Therapy Enchanting Gems Collection instead? It’s limited edition so I need to get on it quickly.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Top Coat and Pink Sapphire polish

I’ve had the pleasure of wearing Sally Hansen Color Therapy polishes before and they are absolutely wonderful. The formula needs no base coat since it contains an argan oil enhancing complex that results in extra nourishment and instant moisture for you nails. A special Color Therapy top coat is available that also contains the argan oil formula. The top coat provides an amazingly glossy finish and longer wear. They say you should be able to wear the polishes for 10 days of fade-proof and chip-resistant wear. I typically wear my polishes for 7 days and they look good as new at my next appointment.

To my delight I have two shades of these: Pink Sapphire and Smoky Emerald. Both are fabulous colors and I want more from this collection.

Pink Sapphire is a striking pink red shade that Sally Hansen calls electric pink. The first coat did look very pink but with the second coat it filled in with more redness. The combination makes me ecstatic.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Pink Sapphire polish

Pink Sapphire has shimmer within that makes it stand out. When I was at the salon to get my nails done I was complimented on both my nails and the color by a very attractive woman. It turned out she’s one of the newscasters on my local 6 and 11 o’clock news. That compliment meant extra to me once I realized who it came from. And Sally Hansen should be happy with that compliment too!

Smoky Emerald totally surprised and delighted me. I’m not a green person but the description sounded so interesting that I was intrigued enough to want it: “Embrace evening magic with this blackened midnight teal green”.

Just look at this beauty! It’s everything that was described….

and more! Not only is there depth to the shimmer but the color looks different depending on the light.

In brighter light you can see the emerald and teal. In low lights it mostly looks like a blackened teal.

Start November off with some affordable fun: Sally Hansen, Jesse’s Girl, and Good Earth Beauty

affordable buys: Sally Hansen, Good Earth Beauty, Jesse’s Girl

With the holidays bearing down on us we want to save money for gifts but sometimes we need a treat ourselves. Or at least I do. I have 3 brands to suggest as ways to affordably get something for yourself or as future stocking stuffers.

Sally Hansen is a nail brand that we can all get behind. They have many formulas but my two favorites are Complete and Miracle Gel. Both of these have the most marvelous brush that is so easy to use that even a novice can get great coverage. For fall they’ve come out with some new beauties and I have two to show you.

Sally Hansen World Wide Red and Society Ruler

One of the newest Complete Salon Manicures polishes is Society Ruler. This deep burgundy is so perfect for November that you will want to scoop it up instantly. Complete Salon is an all in one formula that contains keratin. In one handy bottle you’ll have the base coat, strengthening treatment, salon color, the top coat and a chip resistant gel shine finish.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Society Ruler

Sally Hansen World Wide Red and Society Ruler

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is a two step polish that lasts and lasts. Step 1 is the awesome shade that you choose and Step 2 is the gel top coat that seals in the color making it shiny and lasting at least a week to two. A new shade for fall is World Wide Red which isn’t exactly red to me. It’s a bright orange with a red undertone.

There are hundreds of shades so the hard part will be picking out how you want to shine, the easy part is a long lasting, easy to apply manicure from Sally Hansen.

JESSE’S GIRL provides us with some excellent affordable products. Two new ones are their Dial-A-Mascara and the latex free blending sponge.

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge

I don’t know about you but I am addicted to blending sponges. I used to use them until they fell apart but I’ve since learned that they can harbor bacteria so why not have a few on hand that you won’t feel guilty tossing in a few months. Consider it like you would mascara – 3 months of use and then on to the next!

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge is extremely affordable at $3.99 and available at Rite Aid stores as well as online. This pretty turquoise sponge is very soft and works well with foundation. But I’ve used it for other things too. I like to blend my blush after applying and this sponge does that dry or wet. Or use the end for your concealer. The word is “bounce” and that’s what you should be doing with a blending sponge. And why not have a bright shade to enhance your vanity area.

Jesse’s Girl Latex Free Blending Sponge

While we’re talking about 3 months let’s talk about the new Jesse’s Girl Dial-a-Lash mascara. This has 4 adjustable control. Leave it on #1 for a natural look that is a subtle way of separating your lashes. Enhance is #2 which amplifies the fullness and increases curl. Step up to #3 for Boost to add volume to your lashes. And, if you dare, take it to #4 for Max Volume which maximizes lash length, thickness, and curl.

Jesse’s Girl DialALash Adjustable Control Mascara (#2)

I found with this mascara that I needed it to age. I opened it and the formula was too wet so I closed it for a week and tried again. Nope too wet. Onto to the next week and it was getting better but it really took a month for it to be dry enough for my particular taste. Don’t give up though even if it takes a month for it to age. It’s just like wine that needs to breath before use. For $7.99 it’s like getting 4 mascaras depending on your mood/needs.

Would it be fall without the smell of pumpkin and/or pumpkin spice? No of course not and Good Earth Beauty All Natural Pumpkin Soap is here to add just a gentle smell to your cleansing needs. I’ve written about other Good Earth Beauty soaps before so you know they are favorites. I like them in my powder room for hand washing but it’s safe for face and body too.

Good Earth Beauty Pumpkin Soap

Ingredients are saponified oils of olive, coconut, palm shea butter and pumpkin seed, pumpkin puree, natural pumpkin fragrance oil. The fragrance is subdued so it doesn’t knock you out and even non-pumpkin lovers will enjoy it. (vegan, organic, cruelty-free)

Sally Hansen has you set for September and beyond with Miracle Gel

Sally Hansen Adventure Land Collection, Miracle Gel

September is here and that means we are starting to feel fall is just around the corner. Today we’re at the corner of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel and Adventure Land where 7 new treasures await us to make fall a prettier place to hang out.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel was the first polish that combined the wonderful aspects of gel nail polish with a top coat that doesn’t need a light curing session. Because of that the polishes can be removed with regular polish remover. No soaking, no foil wrapped around our tips sinking the remover into our skin. Just remove as usual.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

I have two of the Adventure Land polishes to share with you today. In total there are seven shown in my collage from left to right: Swim Upstream, Beet, Red-y Set Run, Leaf Me Be, Sheer Happiness, Wild About Violet, and Adrenaline Crush (large one).

I am so impressed with Adrenaline Run and Red-y Set Run that I can’t believe it. I wear a polish for at least 7 days but with Adrenaline Crush I wore it for 14 days yet you’d never had known it from the wear. Other than growth and the tips of my nails wearing away they looked perfect.

Sally Hansen Adrenaline Crush with Miracle Gel 2x Volume top coat

Adrenaline Crush is one of those polishes that is hard to describe. Every light brings out a new aspect of it. Some lights make it look very golden, some make it look bronzish, you can see a purple undertone in it some of the time. It’s a veritable adventure all by itself.

Sally Hansen Adrenaline Crush

and

Sally Hansen Adrenaline Crush

There’s a metallic finish to it that makes it more enticing. With Sally Hansen Miracle Gel you don’t apply a base coat so that saves time. Just use the Miracle Gel Top Coat. It dries a little quicker that way but the two I used weren’t thin polishes so they didn’t dry instantly.

Sally Hansen Red-y, Set, Run

I got my nails done after just one week of wearing Red-y, Set, Run but I could have lasted another week without a problem. It looked as shiny as could be and the color was true throughout the entire time.

Sally Hansen Red-y, Set, Run

Sally Hansen Red-y, Set, Run (day one)

Sally Hansen Red-y, Set, Run after 7 days

This is a shade of red I never get tired of. It’s a true red with hidden shimmer that makes it glisten and glow. It’s ready for an adventure or for sitting around a bonfire.

I’m in the process of deciding what polish to wear on a 3 week trip and Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is leading the race. If it can last 2 weeks as perfectly as it did with Adrenaline Crush then I think it can make it the almost 4 weeks between manicures. What do you think? Would you be able to wear one of these for that long?  —  Marcia

Sally Hansen Color Therapy™ soothes you nails and your senses

Sally Hansen Color Therapy polish

Sally Hansen Color Therapy polish

Sally Hansen nail polish needs no introduction since we already know what a magnificent brand it is. They are the leaders in mass market nail care and a brand that I can always rely on having exceptional color and wear.

Sally Hansen doesn’t rest on its laurels though since they are always looking for ways to improve their brand. I think they’ve really nailed that with their new Color Therapy™ polishes. These polishes not only look beautiful, wear incredibly well, and are easy to apply but Color Therapy works to nourish your nails.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy™ in Sticks and Stones

Sally Hansen Color Therapy™ in Sticks and Stones

STICKS AND STONES absolutely surprised me. This is the first of the polishes I wore and it blew me away. It’s a dark purple with lovely small flecks of red shimmer in it. If I hadn’t seen the brand I’d have thought it was an indie polish since it’s so unique.

Next surprise for me is THERAPEWTER. This is a metallic polish so it was completely different than Sticks and Stones. It’s a type of pewter (Sally Hansen calls it a deep metallic charcoal) but there’s a lot of green in it so I considered it more of a green than a pewter. Either way to describe it doesn’t take away from the uniqueness of this lovely.

In light that’s not as bright as my nail salon I can see more of the pewter so it’s like getting two colors in one. This wasn’t difficult to remove even though it has this metallic finish and lots of shimmer. It’s not a polish that you can get away with in one coat, two worked perfectly for me.

HAUTE  SPRINGS is my kind of red. I like a bold cool toned red that stands out and lets my nails get noticed.

So what makes Sally Hansen Color Therapy™ something so unusual from the rest of the 467,598,022 nail polishes available? They are a long lasting polish that is meant to last for 10 days but they apply and remove like a regular polish. They have a patented formula that “blends a complex of natural argan, acai, and evening primrose oil to condition weak, dry nails. Argan oil contains high levels of unsaturated fatty acids, as well as vitamin E, an antioxidant vital for healthy skin and nails. Acai berry oil is rich in omega-3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids that are valued for nutrition and conditioning in skin and hair care. Evening primrose oil features essential fatty acids that are known to help reinforce hair strength.” Each bottle cap says Argan Oil Formula so you know what you are getting when you go shopping.

Nail polish greats of 2016

nail-polish-graphic-stock

It’s very difficult for me to narrow down my favorite polishes of the year but since I adore polish and want to be an accomplished nail painter at some time in my life I decided to share half a dozen of my favorites. Leaving something out doesn’t mean I love it any less, just that I didn’t have room for it!

SPARITUAL GOLD in RISING SPIRIT – The bottle belies the beauty within. A subtle but stunning gold that wears magnificently and even repels smudges!

KBSHIMMER FALL 2016 POLISHES make it impossible to choose just one. I love every single one of these. KBShimmer is an astonishing nail company and a brand you shouldn’t miss. I’m sharing The Best Mum Ever as my choice but it was hard to pick. If Oh My Ganache had photographed better that’s what I’d have shown you.

LAUREN B ROSE BOWL stole my heart with its metallic red. I love all the Lauren B polishes I’ve tried but this takes me back to my all time favorite: cool toned red!

Speaking of how much I love red I’ve chosen Dr.’S REMEDY REVIVE RUBY RED. This shimmer infused crimson polish is made by a podiatrist: “Dr.’s Remedy is the first nail polish that received approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association. It doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients likeFormaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Phthalates, Parabens, or camphor. It’s even recommended as a post treatment follow-up to nail fungus and ingrown nails. To top it off it comes in 30 beautiful shades.”

I’ll cheat and throw in another Dr.S Remedy polish that is so spring perfect that it makes me long for the sun: BOUNTIFUL BLUE.

I needed to add a pink because I’m a pink girl at heart. Unfortunately one of my favorite pink shades was Limited Edition but you never know if it’s still available. SALLY HANSEN MIRACLE GEL FLOWER CROWN is one of the best I wore this year. It’s described as a pearlescent petal pink which is a perfect description.

Since I prefer a polish that is holographic it’s easy to understand why KBShimmer makes another appearance on this list. This time it’s ALONG FOR THE TIDE from Summer 2016. I see shifts from pink to violet and from blue to purple.

You can’t go wrong with these drugstore classics: Carmex, Sally Hansen, and Jergens

overwhelmedWalking into the drugstore these days can be overwhelming…the sheer volume of choices is enough to make you want to back out the door and put shopping for beauty products on your list for another day. For those times when you are in doubt, here are three classic drugstore lines with my favorite products that always perform.       samples3 Classic Drug Store Brands

1.  Sally Hansen Nail Polish:  this is such a great line for nail polish, especially for my addiction to nude-ish colors. The polish goes on so easily with the flat, wide brush – in fact, I do believe Sally Hansen polishes have my favorite applicator brush of all time. There is a huge selection of shades available.

2.  I love the Carmex® Classic Lip Balm Jar ($1.59) for preventing dry and flaky lips. The classic version comes in the familiar yellow jar and it has that scent that takes me way back every time I open it. Lip skin doesn’t have any sebaceous glands, which is why they need continual moisturizing. My only problem with my Carmex® Classic Lip Balm Jar is that my husband keeps stealing it, so now I always get two just in case. Improve your manicure with Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat and/or Big Shiny Top Coat

I’m manicure obsessed but I’m also manicure deficient. I can’t do my own nails for love or money. But I can change them during the week with these two products from Sally Hansen: Big Matte Top Coat and Big Shiny Top Coat. When these were sent to me to try I couldn’t wait to start having some fun. Even a leftie can put on a top coat without getting color all over their cuticles.

Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat and Big Matte Top Coat

Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat and Big Matte Top Coat

And fun I’m having. Often at the end of the week I’ll get a little bored with my manicure. 7 days is sometimes too much for some colors. But topping the color off with one of these babies gives new life to my mani.

Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat

Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat

A week of matte nails doesn’t appeal to me and to be honest my husband doesn’t like the look at all. But 2 days of it is a nice change of pace. Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat transforms my mani by giving it a totally new finish. It’s called a velvety matte. Sally Hansen’s wide brush makes it apply in such a short time.

Big Matte Top Coat contains a mattifying Silica agent that gives it the special look. At first you’ll think you made a mistake because it applies glossy but it quickly dries down to a matte and doesn’t smudge what’s already on your nails. It’s perfect for those of you (notice I didn’t say “me”) who do nail art to really give it an edge.

I totally loved this look. I couldn’t stop staring at it. Unfortunately it did scratch so 1.5 days was enough for me. But what a great way to change my manicure at the end of its week.

Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat

Sally Hansen Big Shiny Top Coat

Now for opposite time. Big Shiny Top Coat is perfect any time during my week of color. It emphasizes the shine and makes my manicures look new again. This contains an Acrylic Polymer Complex and double UV filters so it’s everything you want to keep your manicure or pedicure looking fresh. It amazes me how smoothly this applies without any streaking. This too is great for nail art. Even better it will look good on bare nails to make them look manicured if you don’t want or don’t have time for color. This dries extremely fast so I’m not stuck waiting to be able to type again.

Best of all is the price. These are only $5.99 and will last you for months of manicures. Big Shiny Top Coat has replaced all my other top coats since I love how much longer my nails last and the Big Matte Top Coat is riding its coat tails to let me have some end of the week fun.

What do you use for a top coat? And when will you switch to Sally Hansen?  —  Marcia
