Votre Vu is back and adding color to our lives! A double dose of Votre Vu Cosmetics, Side by Side

Votre Vu is a long time favorite at the BIZ – our first review was way back in 2010! We are always up for a little more French fashion finesse in our lives, so a recent box of Votre Vu goodies had us jumping for joy (but in a very sophisticated way, of course!). Surprisingly, this time around Lisa went for the eye products and Marcia went for lippies.

Votre Vu Eyeshadow and Eyeliner

Lisa’s Side:

I think the fact that the eyeshadow and eyeliner were both in chocolate shades influenced my choice…I have a difficult time resisting anything chocolate!!

The Beaujolais Eyeshadow Single ($19) is a buttery soft eyeshadow in a beautiful plummy brown shade. It has a tiny bit of golden shimmer, just enough to make this shade different from any other in my collection. I love this as a crease shade because it sheers out beautifully yet also packs on nicely for more drama. Ingredients include vitamin E, jojoba oil and kaolin clay, which make the texture soft and crease-resistant.

The Le Jolie Smudge and Set Soft Eyeliner in Chocolat ($23) is a perfect companion to the Beaujolais Eyeshadow Single.

This is a gel pencil that is so soft it almost feels like a liquid liner at first. One end has a sponge blending tip and the soft liner gives lots of play time before setting into a nicely smudge-proof line. The liner comes with a really nice sharpener, although this is a liner for soft lines, not precise ones.

The Chocolat shade is a terrific medium brown – described as a ‘semi sweet chocolate’ – with tons of pigment. It lasts all day on the lid and a decent amount of time on the waterline.

I’m very happy with these Votre Vu eye products and definitely recommend both of them.  Somehow I think they would probably pair perfectly with Marcia’s lip and cheek products….

We switched places for today’s Side by Side review. I’m always the one who “politely” grabs the eye products out of Lisa’s hands while I say Merci but this time I was intrigued by the lip products as well as the cream blush which is always a favorite of mine. I’ve been using Vu-On Rouge for lips and cheeks in Ma Cherry, French Kiss Lipstick in Tatiana, and Lip Liner in Spark since I think these are great fall shades.

Votre Vu French Kiss Lipstick in Tatiana

Votre Vu French Kiss Lipstick in the shade Tatiana ($23) is a beautiful fall color. I’m not used to wearing dark shades especially just coming off summer so I decided to use a lip brush to apply this instead of right from the tube. I’m really glad I did it that way because the lipstick became more of a stain and lasted for a longer time. I love that this isn’t fragranced except for a touch of vanilla mint which surprises me since it’s a French company and they always seem to use a floral fragrance. Tatiana is delightfully described as “A warm and joyful tomato red that’s ideal for your first tryst rouge.” French Kiss Lipsticks are hydrating lipsticks so they are more flattering (on me) than a matte lipstick. Brushing it on though gives a more matte look than applying from the tube.

The perfect companion to a French Kiss lipstick is Votre Vu’s Drawmatic Lip Liners ($21). I have it in Spark which is described as a mid-tone rose. It’s a great shade not only for Tatiana but for so many of the fall and winter lipsticks I’ll use. This is a wind up lipliner so no sharpeners are needed. I love this kind of liner since there’s no waste. This very flattering shade glides on and doesn’t tug at all. I’m sure I’ll use it up to the very last drop.

Last is my very favorite product of this trio – Vu On Rouge in Ma Cherry. This makes me want to sing along with Stevie Wonder. I am a huge fan of cream blush and can’t resist them. Votre Vu has 4 shades of the Vo On Rouge ($29) and I’d happily own all 4. Ma Cherry is a “sweet and classic cherry blue-red hue that becomes every skin tone”. You can see it blended in above but when I swipe it across my cheeks it’s so intense that my fair skin just can’t take it so this is how I apply it…

I dot it on my face and then blend with my fingers or a sponge. I can add more if I want which I usually do. This way I can build the intensity rather than have to remove some of it. This dries down beautifully and never feels sticky. It’s also a perfect purse blush since no tools are needed. This lasts about 8 hours on me unless I start with a powder blush and then the duo would last for 12 hours. Vu On Rouge can be used on cheeks and lips and they say even eyes. It’s blended with hydrating shea and exotic antioxidant-rich mango seed butters so it not only looks good but it’s good for your skin. I’ve been wearing this several days a week and I know I need Amourette next. Even Stevie Wonder would approve if I had them both and would happily sing “Ma Cherie Amour” to me.
