I’m beginning a new ritual with RITUALS bath and body products

Typically I’m not a bath and body type person but when a brand like RITUALS comes into my life I take another look and decide that I need to make some changes. RITUALS is a European brand that is now in the United States in stores like Barneys NYC. It was started in 2000 by Raymond Cloosterman because of his beliefs that life could be a little more meaningful if we just looked at the smallest things and found happiness in those. He created a brand that is luxurious and enriching to our bodies and our souls.

The RITUALS collections are created based on Eastern customs and traditions. The ingredients they use are chosen to be distinctive for the category they use them. The company is socially responsible and creates products that are never tested on animals, are vegan, dermatologist tested and use sustainable sources for packaging. One of the things that totally warms my heart is their philanthropic ideals – they have committed resources to Tiny Miracles Foundation which aims to break the cycle of proverty in Mumbai, India. Seeing the video on this page will help you understand why this foundation is so important.rituals tiny miracles

While it’s obvious I’m impressed with the company and their manifesto, this is a review of products. I was sent two items from the Laughing Buddha line. The Laughing Buddha was a famous monk from 1100 years ago whose smile was so infectious that it brought happiness everywhere he went. Rubbing his belly is a symbol of good luck and prosperity.

Since I only have the representation of the Laughing Buddha on the beautiful bright orange packaging I’ll just do my rubbing on my body with Fortune Scrub ($17/5 fl oz) and Touch of Happiness Body Cream ($25/6.7 fl oz). There are other great sounding products in the Laughing Buddha line including Fortune Oil (a shower oil) and Happy Mist.

Fortune Scrub started slowly with me in the shower. Even though I did sniff tests, sometimes you just can’t tell how strong a fragrance is going to be. I started with my legs and noticed just how smooth they felt after using this scrub. There are small scrubbies in it to exfoliate without scratching.

Fortune Scrub contains Sweet Orange extract and Cedar Wood oil. The combination of the orange with the cedar wood is invigorating without being sweet. Since Fortune Scrub passed the leg test, it’s now moved on to my entire body. This isn’t too strong for me to use 3x a week and it adds in some needed moisture. Plus it’s easy to wash off without leaving anything behind.

I did the same leg test with Touch of Happiness Body Cream.

I can be especially picky with body creams and lotions since they linger but happily the combination of Sweet Orange and Cedar Wood has made my skin sweet smelling and soft as can be. Touch of Happiness is a very rich and thick body cream, it’s got a whipped cream formula. You’d think with a cream this lush that it would be hard for it to dry down so you could get dressed but that’s not the case. Sure I have to give it several minutes but after it’s a pleasure to toss on a pair of slacks and notice legs that are soft as silk. I’ve even allowed this to move up my body since the warm scent is pleasant and not too noticeable. It also contains a unique blend of antioxidants, Vitamin E and the strengthening ingredient Centella Asiatica.

For me to love a bath and body line like the RITUALS Laughing Buddha line is indeed incredible for me. I love the natural fragrances, I think the line is very reasonably priced, and I’m thrilled with how the skin on my body has lapped this up. RITUALS might just be the line that converts me from being a fragrance-phobe.

Have you tried anything from Rituals that you love? — Marcia
