Blaze nail polish – ch ch changes!

Do you ever dither over what nail polish to wear? If so I have a beautiful solution for you. It’s Blaze Nail Lacquer; a color changing nail polish. Blaze is one of the best polishes I’ve tried. It’s pretty amazing since it changes in sunlight but it reverts back to its original color once you are out of the sun. It’s like getting two colors for the price of one.

Cotton Candy outside look

Blaze by SolarActive® is the only FDA-approved color changing polish. It uses an award winning SolarActive® technology that changes the color when it’s exposed the UV rays of the sun. It doesn’t change through windows or in your car, you need to be outside for the magic to happen.
They have a wonderful collection. You need to see their website to get an idea of how the colors will change.

Today’s review is for their beautiful Cotton Candy polish from their Brights Collection. It changes from a lightly shimmered pale pink to a shade they call Razzle Raspberry. On me Razzle Raspberry changed to a fabulous light rose shade. I couldn’t stop looking at my nails when I wore this (or is it these?) polish/es.

Cotton Candy in the cotton candy stage

Cotton Candy subtle change outdoors

Cotton Candy full sun

I applied it a few days before a trip to Florida so I had the pleasure of seeing what it was like in cold and not always sunny Michigan as well as a beautiful sunny week in Florida. When I had it applied people were impressed with the Cotton Candy shade; several people asked me about it. The question that continually came up was “does it change back?” At the time I couldn’t tell them since I hadn’t had the fun experience yet. But now I can (and have) answered that it does indeed change back.

Cotton Candy pre change

Blaze has three current collections. Brights contains 11 shades, Glitz on Madison contains 6 very glittery gorgeous polishes, and their classics contain 17 polishes. They retail for $12.95 plus they have some great sets. For example the Touch of Romance set contains Cotton Candy, plus an amazing shade called Sandy Surf that changes to Black Coral (a gorgeous purple) in addition to a mango scented cuticle oil. The entire set sells for $24.99. There are 4 sets all together, each one with great colors.

Touch of Romance from

Blaze is Free of Formaldehyde, DBP, and Toluene and contains FDA approved ingredients. It is one of the longest lasting polishes I’ve tried. When I came home from my trip I didn’t have time to have another manicure, then I became sick. I wore it for almost 3 weeks and there was minimal tip wear and some growth. Otherwise it was perfect. No one would have guessed that I’d gone that long without redoing my nails. I am very impressed.
You’d think with all this changing that the polish might yellow but the color stays as perfect from the first day to the last. Think too about what a fun pedicure this would make. You’re out in the sun with your friends and your toes change color! You’ll impress everyone but most of all yourself. — Marcia

Take off your makeup the right way with Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser

I’m sure you’ve all heard of the brand Talika. My first knowledge of the brand was about their eye products, in particular Lipocils. They were the first company that I was aware of that had a lash conditioner. The company was started in 1948 in the ophthalmology department of a Parisian hospital, “Hôpitaux de Paris”.  I found this fascinating and wanted to share this from their website:  A young woman Doctor, named Danielle Roches, develops an anti-bacterial cream with plant extracts to help cure people suffering from face and eyes burns due to war casualties. The results of her cream are astonishing: the lashes of her patients regrow quickly and dramatically. This miracle discovery is the birth of Lipocils, universal “best seller”, that has seduced and helped millions of women thanks to its efficiency.

While the brand has expanded to products for the face and body, I think they are the still best known for their expertise with eye products. My review is for their Lash Conditioning Cleanser. I’ve been using it for the past several weeks and I really do believe that my eyelashes are softer and more conditioned. I didn’t expect that, I just expected to be able to remove my eye makeup easily so this is a bonus.

image from

The Lash Conditioning Cleanser is oil free so you can use it to remove your makeup and then reapply if necessary. It leaves no residue. It can be tissued off if you want. I put one large drop on a DHC Cotton Square to remove my eye makeup. Then I hold it up against my eye for about 10-15 seconds to loosen the color. I rarely have to add more of the cleanser.

Oil Free Lash Conditioning Cleanser

Talika pump

According to Talika this is good even for waterproof mascara. Since I don’t wear waterproof I can’t attest to that but it does a great job removing my regular mascara even if I’ve got quite a few coats on. When I’m wearing a waterproof eyeliner though I’ll take a Q-tip and moisten it with the cleanser and go over the liner on the bottom lashline since it doesn’t seem to get picked up that easily with the cotton square.

There are two main ingredients.

1)      Cornflower Extract which is a softening ingredient

2)      Silk Proteins to improve the condition of your eyelashes

My favorite thing about Lash Conditioning Cleanser is that it never stings – never ever. I like the pump since I can’t spill anything like I sometimes do with my liquid removers. I also love the clean look and feeling especially on the nights I’m lazy and can’t wait to get into bed. What I don’t love about the cleanser though is the price. $25 for 3.4 oz. is pretty stiff. Luckily it has a lot of benefits since it not only removes your eye makeup but it strengthens and conditions your lashes as well so I’ll forgive them for the price.

Almost all major retailers (Sephora, Nordstrom) and online etailers (,, for example) carry Talika. It’s a brand that’s known and trusted. — Marcia

Mont Bleu Swarovski Crystal Nail Files – to die for!

Beauty Info Zone is obviously a beauty blog. We like to show you beautiful products that we can recommend to help you make decisions on how to spend your money wisely. Today I have something that I think is absolutely beautiful! It’s a crystal nail file by Mont Bleu and every time I take it out it brings a big smile to my face.

Mont Bleu crystal nail file

Mont Bleu crystal nail file

I love a little glitz in my life, I think most women reading this do too. Mont Bleu makes some of the most beautiful glitz I own. What I have to recommend is their glass nail file. Just look at the pattern of the Swarovski crystals on mine and you’ll know why I swoon.

Mont Bleu close up

If you’ve never used a glass nail file you are in for a double treat with these – beauty and function. Glass files are extremely hygienic, you’ll never have mold or fungus growing on one. They don’t get dull. They have a smoother surface than other types of files. They are easy to keep clean – just a little soapy water, rinse and dry. There is a slight chance of breaking one but if you are careful that shouldn’t happen. Mont Bleu crystal files aren’t guaranteed against breakage but the surface of them has a lifetime guarantee.

Once you realize how great a glass file is, don’t you want one that is absolutely stunning? Mont Bleu makes so many designs that you will want more than one.  I absolutely need this one with the heart on it, it is calling my name!

Mont Bleu heart series

But you might want one of the other 140 designs like this one in pink and purple.

Mont Bleu Comet - Amethyst

There’s surely one that will make your heart go pitter patter or one that will make a gift for someone you care about. These retail for between 8 and 10,00 € ($10.50 – $13 US).

Mont Bleu’s products are made from high quality tempered Czech glass decorated with Swarovski crystals. Ranked as the safest and most durable manicure tool, their glass nail files will satisfy any need of yours; whether for professional use or home nail work. Each file is handmade, they meticulously put the Swarovski crystals on each one by hand. My file is 5.5 inches long (135 mm) and came in a black velvet case to keep it safe.

Lisa has written about the beautiful Mont Bleu earrings she has and wears (I’ve seen her wear them a dozen times at least!) and showed some of the other products they make in her review.  We both agree that Mont Bleu is a quality brand that we want more of in our lives. We also agree that you’ll want them too. — Marcia

The February color of the month by Fusion of Color

If you love the purest of pure cosmetics then you are in for a treat with Fusion of Color. This is a brand that creates their own products and prides themselves on never just repackaging like so many other small companies. There are so many reasons to use Fusion of Color. Let me give you a few before I show you the beauties I have:

  1. The colorants we use are custom made by us, this makes our colors unique and different
  2. Manufactured in small batches to ensure color consistency and freshness
  3. Free of oil, talc, dyes and parabens
  4. Ideal for those who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea
  5. Ideal for all skin types, all skin tones and women of all ages.
  6.  The main ingredients in mineral cosmetics are inorganic. Simply stated  there is no organic material in it to grow bacteria.  Also, with the use of inorganic ingredients in the makeup  gives the makeup a  very long and stable shelf life.

Fusion of Color picks a Color of the Month and offers it for 10% off. For February the color is a bright and beautiful pink. Perfect for the month with Valentine’s Day in it and perfect for those of us who need some perking up from winter blah times! The specific products are Amour Blush and Devotion Lipgloss.

Amour swatch from

Devotion swatch image from fusion of

Amour ($7.25/ $6.52 with promotion) is a loose powder shimmer blush. In spite of the “shimmer” though it’s not glittery. The shimmer gives it a glow that the color needs so it’s not flat. Amour can be used in a variety of ways. It’s listed as a blush but you can also use it as an eyeshadow or mixed with clear gloss for your lips. When you order you can choose to have a sifter top or not. I definitely recommend the sifter top since you control the amount of product that way rather than it controlling you.

Aurora (applied heavily)

Speaking of lips, there’s Devotion. This is an amazing lipgloss in a complimentary bright pink ($9/$8.10 with promotion). Since Fusion of Beauty makes their own products you have a choice of your packaging. Mine is a dial up tube with a sponge top but this is also available with a wand. Devotion can be customized to be either a plumping lipgloss or regular. This is the kind of service that’s so unique that I can’t help but rave about it. My tube of Devotion is the 3.5 oz sponge tip dial up tube.

Fusion of Color plans on doing a color of the month every month. January’s was Mango Tango, a soft orange/red with a hint of shimmer that you could use as a blush or eyeshadow, as well as a matching lipgloss. Both are available on their site.  It was chosen since Pantone has picked that tone as the Color of the Year. It will be exciting to see what they have up their beauty sleeves for March! Green eyeshadow would get a big yes from me but not so much green blush.

There’s so much to like about Fusion of Color – you can order samples or request some with your order, You have choices in the packaging of your items. You will be able to find the trendiest of colors along with the most classic colors. Your products are made for you. Plus it’s a small company that truly appreciates your business. Somme Institute EYE

I am an eye cream aficionado. It’s not that I know everything about them, it’s more that I love and appreciate a good eye cream. It’s the skincare item I crave most. In an upcoming article I’ve written for Temptalia I categorized eye “creams” into several categories: serums, gels, liquid and cream.

Somme institute’s Eye Cream  is one I’d put in the liquid category. It’s a liquid cream in other words. The name is just EYE, nothing fancy, but very fitting. Somme Institute skincare has been used by me for almost 6 months. I’m always testing new products and giving them a fair shake but Somme is who I come home to for my basics. I recently repurchased the line when Hautelook had it on sale and believe me, I sure didn’t need more skincare, but I wanted it.

Somme Institute Eye

Somme EYE ($72) contains the same basic ingredients that are so wonderful in their 5 step skincare line. It’s infused with eye-specific Molecular Dispersion Technology 5 (MDTD5), a patented technology of vitamins A, B3, B5, C and E designed specifically to improve the eye area. The goal is intense hydration for this most delicate skin on your face. Somme Eye is recommended for all skin types. It will help with firmness and brightness.

I use this both day and night. In the daytime I’ll use a small pump and mix it with my concealer. I like to  wear It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye and the best coverage for me is mixing it with my Somme EYE. It goes on more smoothly without settling into fine lines while at the same time moisturizing and protecting my eyes. If I use a serum on my eye area, I wait for it to dry and then use a little Somme Eye over it. At night when I use all my Somme products, it fits right in.

Somme Institute Eye

I like the sanitary pump it comes in since I don’t have to worry about cleaning a spatula or being lazy and putting in a used one. Not all eye creams are recommended for the orbital bone area but Somme Eye is safe for this region and won’t wander into your eyes stinging them.

Somme Institute easily became my basic skincare company of choice. 5 products in their basic regimen, Boost Warming Mask and Eye – all are gentle and extremely effective products that fit into my life perfectly. – Marcia

Votre Vu Baby Love set – can you say Ooh La La?

I know very little French but I do know two phrases “ooh la la” (is that French??) and “merci”. Both apply to my review of Votre Vu’s Baby Love Set. What a fabulous set this is and what a great Valentine’s Day gift this would be! Ooh la la. What you get is this adorable trio of products. 1 Amour D’Ore Petite, an all natural cocktail of 11 essential oils and vitamin e. Plus 2 le bebe Duette which are dual tubes of hand crème and lip balm. Ooh la la.

Votre Vu Baby Love set image from

I’ve known about le bebe Duette from Lisa for a while. I often go to her office to do some blog business and I’ve yet to walk in and not see her tube of Duette Luxe Lips and Tarte D’Amande Luxe Hand Crème on her desk. Plus without fail she picks it up and uses it at least once when I’m there.  While Lisa has the full size one I trump her because I now have 2 smaller sizes of this amazing product. Both have the amazing hand crème on the bottom. This rich cream melts into my hands quickly leaving them soft and supple. It has the amazing scent of an Almond Joy, I love Almond Joy! Therefore having this coconut and almond fragrance enhance my life is a joy in itself. Ooh la la!

Votre Vu hand cream

The bebe Duette also has the lip balms on the top. One tube has a clear lip balm with a luscious light coconut scent and the other (with the most adorable set of lips on it) has a very light framboise tinted and flavored lip balm. One for my desk, one for my purse. One for my purse, one for my nightstand. One for my nightstand, one for my husband to steal (not the framboise one though!).

Framboise tube

Votre Vu le bebe duette balms

Votre Vu framboise balm

If that’s not enough to tempt you, then how about the spray bottle of Amour D’Ore Petite? This is a jar of oil for your body. Oil for my body sounded like an anomaly to me. Why would I oil up my body if I’m not either going sunbathing or going up on stage to do my pole dances? (Oh wait, I don’t do either of those, especially sunbathing!) What this oil does is help moisturize my arms and legs. It’s wonderful right out of the shower while I’m slightly damp still. It dries down quickly and never leaves any oily residue. Since no one wears stockings anymore, this oil would be wonderful on your legs before going out to give them a movie star shine. (I see this all the time on Letterman!) It’s also recommended for after you’ve been in the sun to refresh the moisture in your skin and to spray it on your hair to shield it from the sun and harsh elements. I personally like it on hands too, especially on my cuticles. The light lemon fragrance is wonderful and doesn’t interfere with any other fragrance you might be wearing. Most of all, it’s the dry sheen that it gives that makes special. Double ooh la la!

Votre Vu Amour D’Ore Petite

You’ve read about my “ooh la la” so now how does “merci” fit in? I’ve got to send a “merci” to Votre Vu for letting me experience these amazing products. I didn’t have a clue until I used them just how much I would like them. I also have to send a “merci” to Lisa for her many raves about this line. I finally get it! And “merci” again to Votre Vu for making such amazing products!

This Baby Love set is specially priced at $49 through February 17th so you need to hurry and get this for your valentine but more importantly for yourself! — Marcia

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Lush Red Dragon Soap

The Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year, begins January 23rd.  The Lunar New Year dates all the way back to 2600 B.C.,  which is the year Emperor Huang Ti introduced the first cycle of the Chinese zodiac.  This is the Year of the Dragon.  Those of you born in the years 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 or 2012 are under the sign of the Dragon, and you are known for being extremely lucky and charismatic.

In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, Lush has come out with a limited edition soap shaped like a dragon and covered in golden dust, aptly named Red Dragon Soap ($7.95).

Lush Red Dragon

I think it’s just beautiful.  Here is what mine looked like when it arrived:

It is scented with the Karma fragrance, a long time favorite of mine.  Karma is a combination of patchouli, lavender, and pine, which doesn’t sound like anything I would ever like since I tend to go for sweeter scents.  But this smells freaking amazing, and it truly is a unisex scent.  Here’s what the soap looked like out of the packaging:

It really does look like a curled up red dragon.  I try so many things my family doesn’t get excited about much, but there was a big fight over this soap.  My teenage son loved the scent so much he demanded a slice, and my daughters were totally in love with it.  Even my hubby, who is pretty neutral on most things, had to have some.  So ultimately my beautiful dragon was sliced into pieces (with a sword, of course!) and divided amongst the villagers.  First, though, I had to take some pics of it with my Skeem Midnight Orchid Candle.

Lush Red Dragon with Skeem Midnight Orchid Candle

What a perfect match!!  I hated to slay the dragon, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, and the Red Dragon soap didn’t disappoint anyone.  It foams up beautifully, smells soooo good, and it’s just a fun way to honor a beautiful culture.  The Red Dragon Soap is available ONLINE ONLY at  – Lisa
