We all have morning beauty routines and mine always includes using an eye cream or serum. I’ve preached to you so often about eye creams and that’s because I regret not starting them earlier in my life. Now though I am diligent about my eyes since I know how much they show age.

Osmosis has two eye products: Osmosis Refresh and Osmosis Refresh PM. I was sent Osmosis Refresh ($60) for morning use since I wasn’t using a specific eye product for day.

Osmosis Refresh eye serum

Osmosis Refresh eye serum

This lovely eye serum targets dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. Happily it has no fragrance. When first pumped out it looks like a lightweight eye cream but when applied it becomes more like a looser serum. Refresh doesn’t take long before it’s absorbed making it ideal for a pre-makeup treatment.

The packaging is ideal as it is in a pump that products the ingredients from exposure. It works all day when absorbed to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Right now at Dermstore Osmosis has a gwp of “Osmosis Pur Medical Skincare Relieve Travel Tube ($24 Value) with any $50 Osmosis Skincare purchase.”

Ingredients Aqua (Harmonized Water), Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glycosaminoglycans, Niacinamide, Epilobium Angustifolium (Canadian Willowherb) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Glycerin, Dextran, Caprooyl-Tetrapeptide-3, Prunus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Phosphatidylcholine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Carboxymethyl BetaGlucan, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Butylene Glycol, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Angelica Sinensis (Dong Quai) Root, Pelargonium Graveolens (Chinese Geranium) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Hydroxyethylcellulose, Potassium Sorbate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol.

Ecco Bella eyeshadows

Ecco Bella eyeshadows

Now that my undereye area is looking more vibrant and smooth I can move onto my favorite part of makeup – eyeshadow. ECCO BELLA Flowercolor eyeshadows are sold as refills so you can mix or match. There are 12 shades available ($14.95) and I was sent two to represent the line. I was anxious to try Smokey Mauve but was on the fence about Clay. Well it turns out that I have worn Clay over and over, more so than the pretty Smokey Mauve.

Osmosis Refresh Eye Serum, Ecco Bella Flowercolor eyeshadows in Smokey Mauve and Clay

Osmosis Refresh Eye Serum, Ecco Bella Flowercolor eyeshadows in Smokey Mauve and Clay

Both of these eyeshadows have an amazingly smooth finish that to me belies the fact that they are matte shadows. I don’t normally gravitate towards matte but these are the best I’ve tried. They not only apply easily and smoothly but they are never patchy. With an eyeshadow primer they last the entire day without fading. I love to wear Camel on the entire lid with a medium brown eyeshadow like their Earth shade in the crease. Sadly my computer crashed and I lost all of my pictures so I can’t show you how pretty these swatch. As you can see from the above photos they also sell a refillable eyeshadow palette ($9.95) that fit two of their shadows. They also come with a small metallic square though so you can keep them in a separate palette.

One of the reasons I was happy about trying out Ecco Bella is their philosophy. The line is cruelty free and doesn’t contain toxins or chemicals to dry and irritate skin, only a pure mineral enriched formula along with the best natural ingredients. The eyeshadows are formulated with Flower Wax which is what naturally protects the leaves of flowers from the elements.

Founded by social entrepreneur Sally Malanga, Ecco Bella has been a pioneer in natural and organic beauty products for over 23 years. Malanga began Ecco Bella, a name that means “Behold Beautiful!” to celebrate the beauty of her customers, because of her disgust with the use of animals for product testing, and with respect for the wonder of nature. To that end, Malanga realized there was a world of plant-based ingredients including powerful nutraceuticals from ethical suppliers that could transform the world’s approach to beauty.

Ingredients: Mica, kaolin, cornstarch/zea mays*, zinc oxide, sweet almond oil/prunis dulcis*, green tea extract/camellia sinensis*, aloe barbadensis extract*, flower wax, iron oxides, sodium levulinate/anisate. May contain: Zinc stearate, *Certified organic/certifié biologique.

My mornings are enhanced with these two products and I’m thrilled to have them in my life.  —  Marcia

Osmosis +Color Long Wear Liquid Foundation and Age Defying Treatment Concealer

Osmosis Colour Long Wear Foundation

Osmosis Colour Long Wear Foundation

Beauty Info Zone has been lucky enough to have tried several Osmosis +Colour cosmetics and each time we become more obsessed with the brand. The latest product that has been sent to us is their Long Wear Liquid Foundation. After wearing this for several weeks we have grown to admire Osmosis +Colour even more. There’s a big difference between Lisa and Marcia when it comes to skin tone. Lisa has a more golden skin tone plus she faux tans; Marcia is a pale person and she embraces that paleness. Lisa’s skin is on the oily sign with an active tee zone while Marcia has dry skin. That means you’ll get two views in our latest Side by Side.

Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation in Natural Medium

Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation in Natural Medium

LISA WEARS NATURAL MEDIUM

Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation is a great liquid foundation that comes in 8 shades on Osmosis’ site and 5 at Dermstore. This is a medium coverage foundation that is definitely buildable. It covers everything I want covered but it has a terrific finish and doesn’t look fake.

I tend toward shiny/oily in my t-zone, so I prefer matte foundations even though they can aging, especially around the eye area. The Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation is different because it’s almost matte, yet it’s still a little glowy so it doesn’t look dry. The effect is natural, which goes along with their tag line:  Be You. Be Beautiful.

Wearing Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation in Natural Medium

Wearing Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation in Natural Medium

Natural Medium is the shade for me – I am typically MAC NW25, although I have some faux tan so I am probably at about an NW30 right now. I am loving the foundation and I hope you try it for yourself!

MARCIA WEARS FAIR

While Lisa has done the main review of Osmosis Colour Long Wear Liquid Foundation I have to put my two cents in of course. And speaking of cents – this foundation has no scent. I love that it’s fragrance free. But that’s not all I love about it. Since I wear this in Fair, the lightest shade, I want it to be very fair but not ghostly pale. The foundation fits that bill. It gives me life while blending in with my neck and forehead.

The weather has been extremely hot and usually sunny and I’m finding that this really is a long wear foundation. It’s not slipping away and it’s not melting off. It’s a winner for me.

The main product I want to talk about though is Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer.  One of my very favorite blushes is the Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush. I find I can wear it with just about any eye/lip combo I choose. Well, being a klutz, I dropped it and most of it shattered. I really missed it so within a few days I ordered it from Dermstore. To my delight the concealer was a gift with purchase with any $25 Osmosis order.

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer

I don’t think I could have picked a better gwp. While the Age Defying Treatment Concealer comes in 4 shades (Fair, Silk, Light, Medium) the full size gift comes in Silk only. This is slightly darker and more yellow than the foundation but once it’s blended in, it still works well for me.

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer in Silk

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer in Silk

What’s unusual about this concealer is that it’s two-sided. One side is the concealer with a wand for application while the opposite side is a balm. I wasn’t quite sure what the balm would do but I’ve worked it into my routine some days now that I’m used to it. It’s a hydrating balm that plumps skin to ensure subsequent makeup doesn’t settle into any lines or wrinkles.

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer - balm side

Osmosis Colour Age Defying Treatment Concealer – balm side

The balm is the reason this is called a Treatment Concealer. “Formulated with a cocktail of antioxidants and argan, apricot and coconut oils, this twist-up stick softens signs of age while preventing new ones from forming.”

After the balm has settled into your skin then follow through with the liquid concealer. It does a great job on dark circles for me plus it’s not just an undereye concealer like so many others. It’s great for your face and for any blemishes you might have. The way I use the balm is mostly in the evening before going out. My eyes often look like it’s the end of the day so I sweep the balm under them and pat it on. Then I’ll use the concealer wand to dab just a little product and blend that in. My face looks refreshed and I’m ready to roll. Ingredients are Shea Butter, Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Antioxidants, Vitamin C.

Purchasing the wonderful Osmosis Long Wear Liquid Foundation will also bring you the Age Defying Treatment Concealer in Silk. You can’t get better than that. While we don’t know how long the GWP is in effect, we do recommend that you take advantage of the savings while you can.

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee – a relaxing end to a beautiful day

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

I’m happy to be introducing you to a fabulous product that I have been using for the last 2 months: Osmosis Melt Away Gelee. You’ve long heard about double cleansing but you’ve never seen a product quite like this.

pr sample

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee brand new and crystal clear

Mostly I hear about oils for makeup removal prior to washing but Melt Away Gelee is a paraben free gel that is very soothing. I like to use my fingers to apply this to my face but others like using a cotton pad with it.

Some days I get super lazy and want the easiest way to remove my makeup and this is when I’m really thrilled I have this cleansing product. TMI but I sit on the toilet seat (closed) and pick up a small amount of this clear gel and rub my entire face with it. I massage it in to pick up all the vestiges of makeup. When I’m done I’ll use Micellar Water (either a cleansing sheet or on a cotton square) and remove the gel. My face is not only ultra cleansed but it’s softer than ever.

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

Melt Away Gelee doesn’t clog my pores and there’s nothing harsh about it. It just melts my foundation etc. away without any scrubbing.

Another way I use this is prior to cleansing with my sonic cleansing machine (Sonulase). I remove my facial makeup with the gelee, add cleanser to the Sonulase, and wash while exfoliating and treating my skin. It’s not an extra step at all.

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

Osmosis Melt Away Gelee

This is said to remove waterproof makeup but I find it doesn’t remove my mascara well. To conquer that I take a q-tip and put some on the end and gently rub. It’s a little messy though since the black ends up on my face but it’s easily washed away.

I have nothing but praise for this gentle makeup remover. The ingredients are moisturizing (avocado oil, jojoba oil and aloe vera) and soothing. If you have any irritation on your face this would be an excellent choice too.

Ethylhexyl Palmitate, 2-Octyldodecanol / Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide / Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Avocado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Jojoba (Buxus Chinensis) Oil, Lycium Barbarium (Goji Berry Fruit) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Pheoxyethanol

Expand your mascara wardrobe with Osmosis Curling Mascara

Osmosis Curling MascaraYou know how you have a different wardrobe for each season – sweaters and boots for winter, shorts and sundresses for summer? I think it’s a great idea to also have a mascara wardrobe. Sometimes I want tons of drama, sometimes I want super length, and sometimes I just want some definition and a guarantee of no smudging whatsoever. Osmosis Curling Mascara ($25) is the mascara for those low-drama but hard-working days.                                                                                               PR Sample

What makes the Osmosis Curling Mascara an eyelash curler is the Cobra head wand. It is curved and it picks up every single lash, gently coaxing them upward. I use an eyelash curler anyway — my eyelashes are stick straight and they need all the curling help they can get. I do find that this mascara really sets that curl and helps lashes stay curled longer.

Osmosis Curling Mascara

The mascara is only available in black. I find that this is really a mascara for added definition and a bit of tint. It does not create big, thick lashes, but it gives enough volume and color to emphasize eyes in a natural way. The other huge benefit is the Osmosis Curling Mascara doesn’t smudge at all. In fact, I think this is probably the most tenacious mascara I have ever tried! It takes eye makeup remover and regular cleanser to fully remove it from lashes. If you are going to work out and you want something that brings out your eyes but isn’t overdone, this is the mascara for you.

Side by Side: Osmosis Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist

When a skin care product claims an increase in elasticity of 110% and a 64% reduction in redness/broken capillaries, we pay attention! Osmosis +Pur Medical Skin Care, a line developed by doctors and clinically proven to work, sent us their dynamic duo of Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist to try. With the amazing clinical test results we had high expectations…read on for our report!

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus

LISA’S SIDE:

The Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum sounds almost like a miracle serum – among other things, it reduces pre-cancerous skin lesions by 15%, increases DNA repair by 33%, and increases elasticity by 110%. Those are some incredible numbers. I use this age-reversing serum every morning and night. The first time I used it I was surprised at the color – unlike most serums, this one is brown.

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum

I really don’t understand how it repairs DNA…Osmosis says it “activates your natural zinc finger remodeling process, which is a critical part of DNA repair.” I can’t explain it, but I love the ingredients, which include vitamin C, amino acids, and minerals. After applying this serum, I follow it with a few sprays of the Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist.

Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist

Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist

To be honest, I don’t really  understand all the science behind this one either. It has ‘scalar waves’ that help the serum (or any other treatment product) penetrate the skin, so it increases the efficacy. It also stabilizes bacteria levels, firms skin, and gives lots of hydration.

Together they make a great team. The serum goes on a little sticky and the hydrating water takes that away and feels so incredibly soothing. I have to say, my skin has been looking fantastic since I started using this combo. I don’t know if my results match the clinical numbers yet, but I am going to use them until my bottles are completely empty to make sure I give them every chance to perform some miracles for me.

MARCIA’S SIDE:

Osmosis Catalyst DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus Hydration Mist

Osmosis Catalyst DNA Repair Serum and Clear Plus Hydration Mist

I agree with Lisa that it’s hard to totally understand the science behind this duo but I’ll take them at their word since I’m not a scientist. Unlike Lisa though, I won’t be finishing mine up. My skin has become dry and as much as I like the after effects of the Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum I don’t think it likes me.

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum from the pump

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum from the pump

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum after

Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum after

I too was surprised to see the brown Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum but I know it’s the combination of the ingredients. On the bottle it tells us that the serum may darken over time but that is normal and doesn’t compromise the efficacy of the product. After shaking the bottle I need just 1 pump to cover my entire face (directions say apply 1 – 2). Then I spray on the Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist and massage my face with these two products.

I find it stays sticky on me so I wait a while before applying moisturizer. The serum has a medium fragrance that I just can’t place. Osmosis says it’s natural black cherry but to me it’s almost woodsy. The Hydration Mist on the other hand has a very light citrusy fragrance that keeps the Repair Serum from becoming overbearing for my very sensitive sniffer.

Osmosis recommends this for all skin types but with my skin so dry from the winter I’m going to put the serum away for warmer weather. My skin looks amazing after using it consistently for a few weeks but it’s become too dry.

 Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist

Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist

On the other hand I have continued using the Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist. This provides slip to products and is great with a mask to reactivate it. Most masks I have are pretty “juicy” but when they aren’t I’ve sprayed the Clear Plus Activating Hydration Mist over and brought it back to life. It’s also a great mist for refreshing your face during the day. While the Hydration Mist is my favorite I am anxious to use the Catalyst Serum again since my face definitely looked more radiant in the morning after cleansing.

Both of these products are part of OSMOSIS SKINCARE’S PROFESSIONAL LINE and can be found on Dermstore and Skincare by Alana as well as other skincare sites.

Think Pink with Osmosis Blush in Pink Pearl

Think pink

Think Pink

A new year and it’s back to Think Pink. I get so excited when I find a pink cosmetic product to share with you and today I have one that I just can’t get enough of: OSMOSIS COLOUR BLUSH in PINK PEARL. I haven’t stopped wearing this blush since I was lucky enough to receive it to test out. I don’t generally lean toward powder blush but Osmosis has changed my mind.

When I look at my pictures of this blush I see some peach to it but on my cheeks it’s the perfect pink. With some blushes I have to worry about the intensity of the color that will end up on my cheeks but that’s not the case with this Osmosis Colour Blush. It glides on giving me the perfect dusting of blush the first time. I can build upon it if I want but I don’t have the dreaded fear of blush overdose.

Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush

Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush

Osmosis Colour uses mineral pigments that are safe for you. This blush gives me a natural luminous appearance. It contains green tea extract to neutralize free radicals and moringa seed oil which hydrates and nourishes. Also Vitamins A and C to boost firmness and elasticity.

Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush

Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush

Pink Pearl is described as a soft pink. It’s silky soft and lasts a full 8 hours without fading. It’s not the least bit chalky nor is it difficult to blend. The shade is a warm pink so it’s not going to make people turn their heads to see if you stuck bubble gum on your face. It’s soft and enhances my features.

Osmosis Colour Pink Pearl blush

The blush comes in 5 shades: Nude Bliss (nude-mauve), Summer Rose (berry pink; looks gorgeous!!), Spring Crush (soft coral), Pink Pearl and Plum Blossom (soft purple tones with satin finish). Right now on Dermstore these $27 blushes comes with an Osmosis Concealer (a $33 value). There are 4 other shades available but I haven’t found them.

MARCIA’S LIPS:  FIRST KISS

Osmosis First Kiss Cashmere Matte Longwear Lipstick

Osmosis First Kiss Cashmere Matte Longwear Lipstick

As many of our readers know I’m the light lipstick one of the group. Both Lisa and I have small lips, much to our dismay. I like a light lipstick with more drama on my eyes while my pal Lisa is the opposite. Therefore I chose First Kiss as my favorite and it’s a great shade for my taste. This is the lightest of the lipsticks and can run either pink or peach depending on your skin chemistry.

Osmosis First Kiss

Osmosis First Kiss

On me this is a pretty peach shade that has more pink in it than is shown in my photo (under poor lighting). It’s not often that I like a matte lipstick since they show every line but this doesn’t feel like a matte on. It’s not drying on my lips and applies smoothly and evenly. It does have a good life too. I’m a lip licker and scraper but even Osmosis First Kiss lasts through my many tics. It stays on me until I start eating a meal which is pretty amazing for me.

LISA’S LIPS:  PASSION

This color is HOT HOT HOT. Makes me totally think of Buster Poindexter…anyone remember him??

Osmosis Cashmere Matte Lipstick in Passion

Osmosis Cashmere Matte Lipstick in Passion

Passion is a very passionate hot hot hot pink. This is a beautiful berry pink that isn’t neon, but it is a strong color. The Osmosis Cashmere Matte Longwear Lipsticks are aptly named – they are definitely matte and they are definitely long wearing. In fact, mine is so pigmented that I prefer to use a lip brush to apply.

Osmosis Cashmere Matte Lipstick in Passion

Straight from the tube is just too much for my thin lips, although those of you with more in the lip department will probably find the straight application route just fine. For me, I need to blot a few times to get the color to a level my face can handle. And the whole time I wear this color I just can’t get that song out of my mind because I am feeling HOT HOT HOT!
