Soft and smooth hair with Organix Penetrating Oils

I know, I know, putting oil into freshly washed hair seems counter intuitive…but it’s a wonderful thing when you use Organix Penetrating Oils ($8).

Organix Penetrating Oils

Organix Penetrating Oils

Organix sent the BIZ two of the Penetrating Oils (previously called Dry Styling Oils); I tried both the Hydrating Macadamia Oil and the Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Oil.  In general, both make hair extremely soft and frizz-free.  The keratin in the oils strengthens hair and make it wonderfully shiny.  Either one works for any type of hair from super dry to super oily. organix awapuhi penetrating oil

The top photo is the new packaging – my samples are in the older packaging.  New face, same product!  The Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Oil smells wonderful.  This is the one to choose if you use a lot of heated styling tools on your hair.   Just apply about a nickel size of oil to towel dried hair then style as usual.

The Hydrating Macadamia Penetrating Oil is the one to choose if you have very dry ends or overly processed hair.  It really puts moisture back in without weighing down fine hair.  It is also terrific on dry hair.  Just a few drops  smooths my hair like crazy.

I am completely sold on the Penetrating Oils.  My hair is very, very happy when I use them!

And speaking of dry oils…be sure to also check out the Moroccan Argan Oil Dry Body Oil ($6).  I use dry body oil every morning after I shower, and this is one of my favorites.

Smooth hair for the New Year with Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30-Day Smoothing Treatment

organix

Organix Brazilian line

Salon hair smoothing treatments are definitely an investment so an easy, in expensive at home treatment always interests me.  I recently tested the Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30-Day Smoothing Treatment ($14.99) that was sent to the BIZ, and I got terrific results for a $15 treatment.

Organix

Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy 30 Day Smoothing Treatment

I don’t think it’s fair to expect salon quality results from a product like this, but I have to say this treatment exceeded my expectations. My hair is not as super straight after washing as it is with a salon treatment. I still need to flat iron some areas, but really it’s not much and this treatment takes a lot of time out of my typical morning routine. Here is my hair before a treatment:

Before Organix 30 Day Smoothing

Before Organix 30 Day Smoothing Treatment

I have fine hair that tends to be frizzy. It has natural wave to it, although not enough to be attractive on its own. I like this treatment because it really smooths hair and eliminates frizz.   Here is my hair right after a treatment:

After my Organix 30 Day Smoothing

After my Organix 30 Day Smoothing Treatment

It certainly does make a difference! You need to plan for the time to do the treatment correctly, as altogether it takes about two hours.

Pre-Shampoo packet,

Pre-Shampoo packet, Smoothing Treatment, all sitting on gloves

First, you wash with the pre-shampoo packet. This lathers up nicely and rinses out easily, leaving hair feeling rough (which helps it pick up the keratin treatment).  After that, you let your hair dry to about 80% dryness, then apply the keratin treatment. There are gloves included, just put them on then smooth in the treatment to sections of your hair. A tip is to be sure not to use too much – too much results in greasy looking hair for two days. Let the treatment soak in for a half hour, then blow dry hair. After that, it’s flat ironing time. I section out my hair and flat iron each piece 7 times. This leaves my hair stick straight and it seals in the treatment. I always have about half a bottle of treatment left, so one box ends up being two treatments for me.

The hardest part is not washing hair for two days. Remember to plan for this…don’t do a treatment right before a big night out on the town. The perfect day for New Year’s Eve perfection would be December 29th.  I find that with my type of hair, the treatment lasts amost 4 weeks. Your results will vary based on your hair type.

I think this is an excellent affordable option for super smooth hair. Next time you are at Ulta or the drugstore, check it out!  – Lisa

Keeping summer alive with beachy waves: Organix Moroccan Sea Salt Spray and Ouidad Wave Create Spray

My days at the beach may be numbered but I am not giving up my beachy waves anytime soon! Organix and Ouidad sent two great options to the BIZ for easy, breezy summer hair that will fit whatever your budget might be.

Using sea salt sprays couldn’t be much easier. Because I have bangs I do blow dry those out but I leave the rest damp and spray with salt spray, then just sort of scrunch my hair up and let it dry naturally. Or after spraying I twirl my hair up into a top knot using a ponytail holder, then let it dry for a bit. It’s a quick and easy way to get gorgeous curls every time.

A good salt spray is one that doesn’t dry out your hair or leave hair crunchy. When a salt spray works, I have loose, beachy waves that aren’t frizzy or too messy. Don’t expect perfection though – hair is supposed to be casual and touseled looking. Of course, the biggest bonus of salt sprays is the time factor – it’s great to be able to spray and go in the morning!

Moroccan

Organix Moroccan Sea Salt Spray

Moroccan

that’s a big bottle for less than $8!

Moroccan

sea salt to give you those beachy waves

The Organix Moroccan Sea Salt Spray ($7.99) is a frugal, easy to find buy (it’s available at Walmart, Ulta, and Target). This is a marvelous salt spray that is especially terrific for the frizz-free factor. It doesn’t leave hair overly dry like some salt sprays thanks to the Moroccan argan oil and sea kelp. It definitely creates pretty, texturized waves with lots of volume. It has a traditional spray nozzle and is a huge bottle for a small price! I like this one best used on damp hair, it has the perfect beach effect that way. I find it makes my hair feel a little stiff when sprayed on dry hair. The scent is a beautiful beachy fragrance that is perfect for a salt spray.

Ouidad

Ouidad Wave Create Sea Spray

Ouidad

ready to create some waves!

If you have a bit more cash in your wallet, definitely consider the Ouidad Wave Create Spray ($23). Oh my, this smells divine. It has a perfect fresh, beachy scent. Wave Create Sea Spray is ideal for fine hair because it doesn’t weigh it down or leave it the least bit crunchy – in fact, if anything it leaves hair even softer than before. Hair feels great and also looks great, with beautifully tousled waves sans frizz. Ingredients include natural seawater, sea salt crystals, algae and sea kelp.

funky but awesome

funky but awesome

I am also a big fan of the super cool spray applicator which makes it easy to concentrate spray on one area. Or, you can hold the bottle further way from your hair for an all-over spray. I love Wave Create Sea Spray on dry hair – in fact, when I use this I keep adding more just because I love the scent and softness of my curls.

Don’t give up on that wavy, beachy summer hair just yet!  Get yourself some Organix or Ouidad and keep that summer feeling all year long.  – Lisa

Organix Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Collection

I don’t think I ask for THAT much. I want my hair to be super shiny, full of body, and totally moisturized – but not so much it falls flat. Ok, I know I have very fine hair that typically either loses its curl or else goes super frizzy…but is it too much to ask for an affordable hair care line that turns my (ahem) low maintenance requests into a reality?

Organix Smooth Hydration Argan Oil & Shea Butter Collection promised me shiny, moisturized, volumized hair…and it delivered. Organix sent the BIZ four products to try, I was very happy to find that all the packaging was eco-friendly and the line does no animal testing. The products contain sulfate-free surfactants, another major plus.

Organix

Organix Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Collection

I used the Shampoo, Conditioner, Moisture Restore Oil, and Curl Enhancing Yogurt…and here’s what my hair looked like:

gimme volume!

gimme volume!

Tons of volume and curls with shine and softness. Hooray!!

Organix

Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Shampoo

The Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Shampoo ($7.99) is a huge bottle of moisturizing goodness. This foams up beautifully and leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped. The shampoo, and in fact all of the products from this line, have a subtle but super yummy creamy milky coconut scent that I adore.

Organix

Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Conditioner

The Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Conditioner ($7.99) is extremely moisturizing but it also is lightweight enough to not weigh my down my fine hair. It doesn’t leave my oily scalp feeling greasy and it really makes for shiny, soft, volume-filled hair.

Organix

Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Moisture Restore Weightless Oil

After towel drying my shampooed and conditioned hair, I take about a nickel-sized amount of the Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Moisture Restore Weightless Oil ($7.99), rub my palms together, then run them through my damp strands.

Organix

restore more moisture with this weightless oil

This argan oil is truly weightless. My fine hair can be quite finicky, but this oil doesn’t weigh things down – instead, it smooths and shines and promotes beautiful volume. If it’s extremely humid out, I will use a little bit later in the day on my dry hair to brighten up the shine and smooth any flyaways.

Organix

Organix Argan Oil and Shea Butter Curl Enhancing Yogurt

Maybe it’s because of the ‘Yogurt’ in the name but for some reason when I open this jar I just want to grab a spoon and start gobbling it up.

Organix

Yummy looking Argan Oil and Shea Butter Yogurt

The Smooth Hydration Argan Oil and Shea Butter Curl Enhancing Yogurt ($7.99) is a leave-in curl defining cream that works for every hair type. The yogurt is thick and creamy but again it goes on beautifully weightless and it really hydrates my hair. I smooth a dollop on my damp hair after I apply the Weightless Oil and my hair is ready for drying and styling.

Organix hair back

and my Smooth Hydration Organix hair from the back

I find that every time I use my Organix products my hair is hydrated, soft, shiny, and full of volume. This drugstore line gives me everything I ask for at an extremely reasonable price – what’s not love??  – Lisa

You can find the Organix Hair Care line at places like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid.
