Ecoconscious sensory beauty: Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils

Teadora 4In Portuguese, “Teadora” means “adore you”.  Teadora Beauty not only adores you, it adores the earth with unique products that feature rainforest ingredients.  Teadora skin care products are created for ‘sensory beauty’, a complete immersion into lush ingredients and fragrance that  transport you to the Amazonian rainforest.  Teadora only uses sustainable organic ingredients so they can share Brazil while giving back to their community, as well as to the entire earth.

Teadora carries a range of body products from lip butters to body cleansers to hair products.  Every product sold supports rainforests deforestation, as well as the EARTH FOR YOU, YOU FOR EARTH movement which focuses on youth education, leadership development, and health. They sent the BIZ two beautiful Nourishing Bath and Body Oils to test, Rainforest at Dawn and Rainforest at Dusk.

Teadora Body Oils

Teadora Body Oils

I adore body oils in general.  They hydrate skin, leave a soft scent, and give skin a beautiful, luminous glow.  Not all body oils are alike, however, some are definitely better than others.  Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils stand out because of their truly impressive Brazilian ingredients:

Buriti is an amazingly powerful ingredient. It contains the highest concentration of natural vitamin A among fruits and vegetables. It is also rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C and antioxidants and has been used for generations as a natural UV ray protectant. Its amazing anti-inflammatory properties also help to promote skin healing.

Maracujá (or Passion Fruit) is known as the “Pure Miracle” in Brazil as it brightens, moisturizes, heals, and repairs skin and hair without feeling greasy or heavy. Good for all skin types-from dry to oily.

Brazil Nut is a light, sweet, and nutty oil that is wonderful for the entire body. It absorbs quickly, and provides powerful moisture and healing to the skin, hair, and face.

Babassu is made from the nuts of wild-growing Brazilian palm trees. It is also a more effective skin oil than coconut oil. It is high in essential acids to cool, sooth, protect, restore, and moisturize any skin type.

Plant Stem Cells, we use stem cells from the Argan tree to help rejuvenate your skin’s middle layer, where wrinkles start. It is known to protect dermal stem cells reduce the appearance of wrinkles, tighten and tone skin tissue and  increases skin firmness and density.

Teadora Bath and Body Oils have a ton of antioxidants to fight free radicals, plus tremendously hydrating ingredients that leave skin soft, supple, and healthy looking.  There are two scents from which to choose:  Rainforest at Dawn and Rainforest After Dark.

Rainforest at Dawn ($58) has a citrus scent with bergamot, lemon, woods, fresh florals, basil and eucalyptus.  The fresh, energizing scent makes this a great body oil to start the day.  I smooth it on after I shower, and I even run my hands through my wet hair for a subtle scent and to moisturize and eliminate fly-away hair.  This oil also makes a great treatment for dandruff and dry scalp.

Rainforest at Dusk ($58)  is more of a dusky, sensual floral scent with Rose Absolute and Geranium plus a hint of fruitiness.  I love this as a bath oil or as a massage oil…it is heavenly.

Teadora Nourishing Bath and Body Oils are 100% vegan with completely natural scents.  They are also free of parabens, synthetic fragrance, silicone, gluten, phthalate, sulfates and other harsh chemicals.  Teadora is a wonderful line with a great message that supports a fabulous cause.  It doesn’t get any better than this.  – Lisa

Epic Blend Premium Lip Balms – review and giveaway

EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms

EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms

Look at that lineup of EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms that the BIZ was sent to test, review and give away! It’s a little like lip balm nirvana. As much as I’d like to keep them all (you’ll soon see why) I only have one set of lips and sharing is good karma. At the end of this review you’ll see what and how you can win. — Marcia

EpicBlend is a Canadian company that created a lip balm that is silky and natural. It was important to them to use high quality ingredients that are ecologically sound and healthy for anyone to use. EpicBlend offers gluten free, cruelty free, vegan, all natural lip balms to moisturize and nourish. epic blend no

There are 3 categories of balms that they sell, each with some unique flavors.

1) Hemp Balms – These are made with Organic Hemp Seed Oil which is an excellent anti-oxidant as well as being nourishing. The one I tried felt moisturizing and it didn’t sit on my lips, instead it felt like I had improved my lips. EpicBlend says that the hemp seed oil quickly absorbs deep into skin cells. (By the way, you won’t get high from these!! Sorry.)

EpicBlend Hemp balms

EpicBlend Hemp balms

Hemp Balms are available in Vanilla, Citrus Kick, Coconut and Mint. There is a new LE one in Banana (I love banana) and an LE Chocolate Rum now too. The one I chose to test is Citrus Kick and it’s a yummy orange that feels wonderful and smells amazingly true to life.

2) More Moisture Lip Balm – This has 7 moisturizers in it. SEVEN! These organic moisturizers give you that extra boost of hydration along with more staying power.

Epic Blend More Moisture Lip Balms

Epic Blend More Moisture Lip Balms

Your choices for More Moisture are Cherry (my pick), Grape, Green Apple and Unflavored. I wavered between trying Cherry and Unflavored but after trying the luscious Citrus Kick, I needed to try out a flavor. Plus my DH loves cherry balms so when he asks for a balm I have one he’ll like to share.

3) Vegan – The Vegan lip balms are 100% plant based and more important they are free of beeswax. So many times that’s an ingredient that manufacturers think they can sneak in! EpicBlend uses an all natural food grade Candelilla wax to make sure these have a smooth texture.

EpicBlend Vegan Lip Balms

EpicBlend Vegan Lip Balms

There are just two flavors in the vegan – Wild Berry and Pineapple-Mint. I didn’t try either because of the giveaway but I understand that Pineapple-Mint has a kick to it.

These cost $3.49 each or a 4 pack for $12. If you live in Canada you’ll get free shipping at $15, if you live in the US you’ll need to spend $20 to get free shipping. In Canada there are oodles of places that carry this wonderful brand.

Vapour Organic Beauty – eco beauty done right

Vapour Organic Beauty

Vapour Organic Beauty

Vapour Organic Beauty creates products that they say are good enough to eat. According to the USDA “Vapour is the only color cosmetic manufactured to the USDA’s Organic Food Standard.” vapour beauty usdaThat’s saying something but there’s a lot more to say about this company that is made entirely from certified organic plants, vitamins and minerals. They are cruelty free, sustainable and ethical. And they make great products if the 5 lovelies they sent, seen above, are any indication of what they can do.

I’ve reviewed a few other Vapour Beauty products and liked using them but the newest ones I have are even better than before. I’ve been wearing them a lot and getting a lot of pleasure from doing so.

Aura Multi-Use Blush sticks in Charisma and Intrique

Aura Multi-Use Blush sticks in Charisma and Intrique

My absolute favorites are the AURA MULTI-USE BLUSH STICKS. That’s no surprise to anyone who knows me. I’d much rather use a cream blush product than a powder one. I find creams to be much more natural looking and easier for me to control. With a powder blush I never quite know how much pressure to put on a brush and I can end up with too much. But with these AURA Multi-Use Blush Sticks I quickly learned how much to use and I find them exceptionally easy to apply and blend.

Aura Multi-Use

Aura Multi-Use

The two that I have – Charisma and Intrique – are unfortunately not available at the current time but they’ll give you an idea of what these are all about. The colors that are available are stunning (see beauty.com for great swatches). These aren’t just blush sticks, they are multiple use so you can use them safely on lips and eyes as well.

There is no fragrance to these, they are silky smooth and glide on beautifully, and they last well throughout the day.

Vapour swatches: Solar Translucent Bronzer, Charisma & Intrique Aura blush sticks

Vapour swatches: Solar Translucent Bronzer, Charisma & Intrique Aura blush sticks

SOLAR TRANSLUCENT BRONZER comes in 3 shades; from lightest to darkest they are Mirage (shown), Simmer and Spicy. I personally love the translucent quality of this bronzer since I am not a bronzing queen like my dear blog partner Lisa. I like a touch of color and I’m able to achieve that with Solar Translucent Bronzer stick in Mirage. Like the Aura sticks this is a cream product and I feel that I can control the amount I use as well as the placement better than I can with a powder product. Plus if I goof, it’s easier to blend down and fix.

Vapour Organic Beauty Solar Translucent Bronzer in Mirage

Vapour Organic Beauty Solar Translucent Bronzer in Mirage

Solar is infused with sun-specific super antioxidants Pomegranate, Green Tea and Acai Berry, and nourishes with a soothing organic Calendula Flower and vitamin-rich organic Shea Butter. This isn’t orange on me even though my lousy photography makes it look that way. Instead it’s a light tan that works well on my paleness. It’s described as a “pale gold that brings a kiss of the sun to pale skin”.

SIREN is the name for Vapour’s lipsticks and some of these shades really fit that description. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package to find this lipstick:

Vapour Beauty Siren lipstick in Dare

Vapour Beauty Siren lipstick in Dare

DARE is a rich plummy brown that looks almost black in the tube. I’m the girl that wears light lips. So how do I review a product that is this dark and vampy? EASY PEASY LADIES!! I applied it and then applied the gorgeous POSSESS lipstick over it and the angels sang. (Well maybe they hummed a little.)

Vapour lipsticks in Dare and Possess

Vapour lipsticks in Dare and Possess

POSSESS is a color that I absolutely love. It’s called a “sexy adult pink” and on my lips it turns a perfect soft mauve. It’s the type of color I grab when I want to look my best but still natural. When it’s worn over Dare it becomes a deeper version of itself. SIREN LIPSTICKS are unscented beauties. While Dare will only get used occasionally, Possess has a permanent place in my makeup bag. They have a creamy jojoba, pomegranate and camellia oil base so they don’t feel dry.

My comeaway impression of VAPOUR ORGANIC BEAUTY is that this is a very special brand of organic makeup. They are so sure of their products that they even sell samples of many of them. They are confident that once you try the textures and colors that you’ll come back. I’m confident of that too. Have you tried Vapour lately? — Marcia

DermOrganics hair care products are not only amazing but they have an amazing giveaway for you!

DermOrganic Conditioning Shampoo

DermOrganic Conditioning Shampoo

DermOrganic Hydrating Conditioner

DermOrganic Hydrating Conditioner

I have a great opportunity for you to win some hair care that is out of this world. I’ve just received these products myself and will be testing them out prior to a full review but I can tell you that with DermOrganic there are raves everywhere for this brand. DermOrganic has quite a few products in its line including shampoo, conditioner, a hair masque and a leave-in treatment. These are the products that I’m testing and that they’ve offered to one of our readers. So few U.S. companies are willing to send products internationally so I jumped at the chance to offer this giveaway to ALL my readers, no matter where you live.

I’ll have a full review of the DermOrganic haircare that I’m testing in early January but here’s a little background about them. First is that not only is this line cruelty free but it’s also a vegan hair treatment. You don’t find that too often. Second is that it’s a great line for all types of hair especially if you color  your hair or do any chemical treatments (straightening, perms etc.). The list of what it doesn’t contain thrills me. Here’s just a few:  Sulfate-Free and Gluten-Free; No Sodium Chloride, Salt, MEA, DEA or Dyes; Paraben-Free and Propylene Glycol-Free.

So what does it have? How about natural moisture factors, lipids and Panthenol B5 to increase absorption, improve slip, eliminate tangles and prevent flyaways? Does that sound good? How about Argan Oil? That makes it sound even better. But it doesn’t just sound good, it works gooder than good. (Yep, poor grammar from the former teacher!) Your hair will love this line.

Now here’s what you’ll win: DermOrganic Daily Conditioning Shampoo (sulfate free), Daily Hydrating Conditioner, Intensive Hair Repair Masque and Leave-in Spray Shine Therapy.  You can see these all on Ulta’s website and read more about why these are recommended. This prize package is valued at $68.

Join me in finding out about this great organic hair care line. — Marcia

The giveaway is open internationally through 1/2/13 at 11:59 p.m.EST. You must be 18 years or older to enter. If the Rafflecopter doesn’t appear please don’t enter until you see it appear. It gets a little fussy sometimes. You’ll be able to tweet daily to give yourself more opportunities to win too. Good luck.

Annmarie Gianni Radiant Skin Silk

Have you tried any Annmarie Gianni products yet?  Some of my favorite things are from this gorgeous, love-infused organic line, like the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub, Coconut Body Oil, and Purifying Mud Mask.

Annmarie’s latest product is the Radiant Skin Silk Lotion ($49.95).  I got a small sample of it, so I wasn’t able to use it for many days, but what I did try was terrific.

It’s a moisturizer without any chemical preservatives.  It has herbal infused water in it, and it smells very lightly of Peru balsam which reminds me of a woody vanilla.   I loved using this right after a shower.   I found it paired beautifully with the Coconut Oil, I would actually mix them together for a truly fantastic effect.  It left my skin super moist and extremely smooth.

What makes it so beautifully moisturizing is the Sunflower Oil.  Sunflower Oil is full of the good fats that you actually want on your skin.  It also has tons of Vitamin E.  I remember in the 1970’s Vitamin E was highly touted for making you look ‘sexy’.  I took my mom’s Vitamin E pills and downed one a day faithfully for a month.  I looked in the mirror every day, just waiting for the sexiness to kick in.  Unfortunately – or, I guess fortunately, since I was only in 6th grade – my reflection didn’t get ‘sexy’ after a month.  Now we know that Vitamin E is a great anti-oxident that is terrific for fighting free radicals, and it also protects against UV rays.

If you love organic lines, and you love lines that are truly made with love, check out Annmarie Gianni and consider getting yourself some Radiant Skin Silk while you are at it.  – Lisa

Evanhealy for sensitive, problem skin

Every new decade in life brings different skin issues.  In my teens I battled blemishes and super oily skin.  My twenties brought less frequent acne, but the monthly breakouts were terrible.  My thirties brought fine lines, dry areas, and hyperpigmentation. And my forties?  They have brought me puffy eyes, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sensitive skin…and blemishes yet again!  It’s not easy to find a skin care line that can successfully address all of those woes, but evanhealy makes the grade.

I learned about this line when Marcia first reviewed the Rose Face Care Kit here.  The creator of the line is Evan Healy, an aesthetician, who is extremely passionate about taking a holistic approach to skin care.  All of her products are organic and Vegan, and are based upon traditional plant lore, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and Ayurveda.  The motto of her line is “the skin breathes”.  Every single product is handmade in the U.S. in micro batches.  It’s just a beautiful line inside and out, and I find that many of her products are perfect for me depending on what my crazy mid-forties skin is doing at the moment.

I tried two of her Face Care Kits, which give you smaller sizes of products that last for up to two weeks of use.  It’s a great way to try an assortment of products for a small initial investment.  These kits are also absolutely perfect for travel.

The first kit I tried was the Blue Face Care Kit ($29.95).    This kit has five products that work for sensitive skin, with enough for at least 14 days of treatment.  (Mine actually lasted longer than that – I got at least 20 days out of my kit.)

The products in this kit are:

Blue Lavender Cleansing Milk (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a very gentle, creamy cleanser that doesn’t foam up.  It has white kaolin clay in it, which gets rid of dry skin cells, leaving your skin clear.  The rosehip seed oil helps to moisturize the skin, and it leaves your skin nice and soft.  It has a definite lavender scent, which may be a problem for those with fragrance issues.  It never irritated my skin, not even when my skin was being extremely difficult.

Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a great, gentle toner that calms, soothes, and hydrates the skin.  It also smells of lavender but it’s softer than the cleanser, and the scent dissipates quickly.

Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum – Blue (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a light herbal scent that takes a while to dissipate.  The serum feels very silky, not oily at all, and it’s full of omega-3 and -6 essential fatty acids, as well as Vitamins A and C.  It smooths fine lines and wrinkles, and it helps to fade hyperpigmentation as well as scars.  I find it to be incredibly healing, particularly on fading blemishes.

Blue Chamomile Day Moisturizer (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This has a very light, barely noticeable herbal scent.  It’s a great moisturizer for blemished areas because it gives the hydration the skin needs without clogging the pores.  It really does calm red, irritated skin and leaves it feeling super soft.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)

This little jar is full of dry Green Tea Clay that you mix with water to form a paste.  I love that it’s the dry ingredients, so there’s no worry that the mask will dry out in the jar before you can use it all.  This mask absorbs excess oil, draws blemishes and blackheads to the surface and gets rid of the bacteria causing the breakouts.  It also exfoliates the skin and calms red, irritated areas.  It’s a terrific mask that is particularly effective when you use it right after a facial steam bath.

The second kit I tried was the Blemish Face Care Kit ($33.95).  Even though this is billed for teens, I need it as my skin breaks out at least once a month, sometimes more often.  The five products in this box are supposed to last for seven to ten days of treatment, but like the Blue Kit, I got many more than ten days out of it.

The products in this kit are:

Tea Tree Gel Cleanser (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a pH balanced non-soap cleanser.  You only need a tiny bit, it makes a light foam that really deep cleans and helps disinfect the skin.  It has a very slight herbal scent that dissipates immediately.  When my skin is breaking out, I mix a little of this with the Green Tea Clay mask and some water for a terrific cleansing exfoliation.

Orange Blossom Facial Tonic Hydrosol OR Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

Due to limited season availability of the Orange Blossom Tonic, the Lavender Tonic may be substituted.  In my Face Kit, I got the Lavender Tonic, which is reviewed above.

Pomegranate Repair Serum (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a little heavier feel to it than the Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum reviewed above.  It’s pretty amazing stuff – somehow it manages to moisturize dry areas, yet also treat blemishes so they heal up quickly.  It leaves your skin silky smooth.  It’s full of anti-oxidents and is great for calming down inflamed, irritated skin.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)  This is the same mask as the one in the Blue Face Care Kit, and is reviewed above.

Blemish Treatment Roll-On (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This is a great blemish treatment that is free of drying alcohol.  It disinfects blemishes without irritating and aggravating the skin.  It’s very gentle yet effective.

If you are looking for a skincare line, look into evanhealy. The fact that they have these try me kits makes it perfect to know what works for you without shelling out a lot of money. Both if these kits worked for me and the Rose Face Care Kit worked for Marcia so it’s thumbs up from the BIZ.– Lisa
