Emtage Argan Oil Rollerballs help you on the go

Emtage Beauty is a company that wasn’t on my radar at all until they reached out to see if I’d like to try their products. I found some things about them that I instantly liked: they are an organic company that uses all natural ingredients, the were developed by a woman entrepeneur named Robin Emtage, and they are fair traded and sustainably produced by women co-operatives of the Argan forest. I was intrigued and decided to try these out. That was a great decision on my part.

Emtage Beauty Argan Oil Rollerballs

Emtage Beauty Argan Oil Rollerballs

There are two different rollerballs made by Emtage Beauty. ARGAN OIL ROLLERBALL is made of 100% Pure Argan Oil with the goal to Target & Revjuvenate Skin, Hair & Nails. ARGAN OIL ROSE HIP ROLLERBALL also is to Target & Rejuvenate but this one is aimed towards eyes, wrinkles, and dry skin.

Emtage Beauty Argan Oil Rollerballs

Emtage Beauty Argan Oil Rollerballs

The two rollerballs are purse and travel friendly since they fit in the palm of my hand with ease. I was all set to have Lisa review them if they had a fragrance but they are fragrance free so they are mine, mine, mine!! The prices are reasonable ($12 and $15) and they can be found at Whole Foods as well as bought online.

Emtage Beauty Rollerball

Emtage Beauty Rollerball

Emtage Beauty Argan Oil Rollerball is a clear not greasy oil that I especially love for my hands. Being in a rollerball form allows you to target exactly where you want this to be used. I’ll roll it over my cuticles and then massage in. It can be used on split ends to tame them from the Split End Monster. And it excels at protecting scars from hardening and skin from becoming too dry.

Target and Rejuvenate Skin, Hair, Nails

• Nourish and hydrate dry spots on face and body
• Brighten skin’s appearance
• Soften eyebrows and dry lashes
• Improve scars, stretch marks and sun spots
• Smooth split ends and rough edges
• Perfect for dry itchy scalp!
• Soothe damaged cuticles
• Moisturize dry nails
• Metal rollerball to increase circulation
• No spilling, no wasting
• Perfect for travel!
• Rejuvenate On The GO!
• Great for all skin types!

Emtage 100% Argan Oil

Emtage 100% Argan Oil

EMTAGE BEAUTY ARGAN OIL ROSE HIP OIL adds to the Argan Oil with Rose Hip Oil that’s also infused with Geranium essential oil “to provide instant hydration and age defying benefits to dehydrated, dry skin, wrinkles, fine lines and discoloration.” This oil starts with a light golden color that disappears as you roll it on. I like it because it helps with both dark circles and under eye puffiness. It’s also good for dry skin and to soften fine lines.

Emtage Beauty: Argan Oil Rose Hip Oil top, 100% Pure Argan Oil bottom

Not only are these two Argan Oil Rollerballs good for your skin but they are helpful to the earth and to women. As Ermtage Beauty told me “Emtage’s Argan oil is organic, virgin, cold pressed, expeller pressed, hexane free, NON GMO, fair traded and sustainably produced by women co-operatives of the Argan forest. Emtage Beauty is committed to women’s empowerment causes through out the world. They support fair trade women’s co-ops and charities that provide women’s advancement opportunities.”  Everything about this company and these products are what I want when looking for items I’m happy to review and recommend.

Have you heard of Emtage Beauty? They have a great line for hair, skin and nails so maybe it’s time to look. — Marcia

See the beauty of Araza Natural Beauty eyeshadows

araza logo

Araza Natural Beauty was founded by Lindsey who has a story to tell us: “As I began doing more research on the chemicals, fillers, and artificial junk that our processed foods contain, it also occurred to me that what we put ON our bodies is just as important as what we put IN our bodies. Our skin is the largest organ of the human body and it absorbs 70% of everything that we put on it! That being said, why would we take the time to eat healthy but then not put healthy products on our skin? Being a bit of a makeup junky myself I realized the products I loved and used were incredibly harmful and toxin filled. Heck, cosmetics are not even regulated by the FDA like food is. It is our responsibility to read labels and understand what we are using.”

Well the ladies at Beauty Info Zone wanted to know more about Araza Natural Beauty and we are lucky enough to have received 4 eyeshadows to wear and share. Since Lindsey wanted a healthy, high quality makeup line, made from the best natural and certified organic ingredients, we were excited to join her on her mission. She’s one smart lady who has created some beautiful eyeshadows (and more we’re sure).

The eyeshadows are called Long-Wear Raspberry and Citrus Infused Eye Color. You have 15 beautiful choices ($18 each) with excellent descriptions and photos of the colors so you won’t be surprised when they arrive – well you will but it will be because you are so delighted.

“Blendable and buildable eye color, Araza’s Long Wear Raspberry and Citrus Infused Eye Color glides on lids smooth and effortless, creating stunning color that enhances natural beauty and lasts until the day is done. Orange Peel is nutrient packed with vitamins and minerals, Raspberry fights free radicals, tones skin and soothes irritation. Certified Organic Jojoba locks in moisture and aids in reducing puffiness around the delicate eye area, keeping lids healthy and diminishing the look of aging.”

MARCIA’S EYESHADOWS:

ARAZA Mirage and Rose Gold Eyeshadows

ARAZA Mirage and Rose Gold Eyeshadows

My two shadows are MIRAGE and ROSE GOLD.  These are the best choices! They go on so beautifully that they are a pleasure to apply.

Araza Mirage eyeshadow

Araza Mirage eyeshadow

MIRAGE is described as “rosy brown matte demi-matte”. I would never have guessed this was considered a matte shadow when I opened it or when I wore it. It has a satiny finish and isn’t flat in the least.

On the website it appears lighter than in my photos but I don’t find it to be that light. It’s a mid-tone brown with no shimmer even though you can see a bit in my pic. The finish is soft yet there’s no powdery kick back to this at all.

Azara Mirage

Azara Mirage

ROSE GOLD EYESHADOW is simply stunning even on old eyes like mine. It’s described as “shimmery rose with hints of gold brown”. Is it shimmery? Not really, it’s more on the surface but now that I’ve used it for so long I only find that it’s a metallic rose gold. If you love rose golds you are going to want to snatch this up. This pairs up beautifully with a darker brown shadow in the crease or a smudged thicker brown eyeliner.

I’m so impressed by the amount of pigmentation and the soft feel of these shadows. They wear beautifully (I always use an e/s primer first). They are definite winners in my book.

LISA’S EYESHADOWS:

Sorry Marcia…I think ABALONE and JAVA are the best choices!!

Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

Abalone is a shimmery, subtle pearlized pink. I simply can’t explain how pretty this is. It has a hint of peach to it and it brightens up the eyes like crazy. I think this is an especially great choice for those with deep-set or hooded eyes. Just be careful not to pack too much on or it becomes a little frosty.

Araza Abalone Eyeshadow

Araza Abalone Eyeshadow

Java is a subtle sparkle warm chocolate-brown demi-matte. The sparkle is very light, but it makes this deep brown a standout shade.

Araza Java Eyeshadow

Araza Java Eyeshadow

I blend this in lightly as a crease shade and it also makes a fabulous contour shade as well as a liner. Together, Abalone and Java make a beautiful pair that I find myself reaching for all the time.

Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

Wearing Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

With an eye primer these colors stay true all day and don’t crease on me.  They are definitely winners!!

So which shade do you think is the best?  In addition to these four, there are eleven more beautiful shades available.  Head on over to Araza and take a look!

Ecocentric Mom August Subscription Box review

Of course Beauty Info Zone loves the Ecocentric logo!

Of course Beauty Info Zone loves the Ecocentric logo!

Being a mom is stressful enough, trust me I know – I have three kids ranging in age from 10 to 21.  It is definitely time-consuming to do all those mom duties and be ecoconscious as well, but help is here with The Ecocentric Mom Subscription Box.  The Ecocentric Mom is a $24 every-other-month subscription box that does all the research for busy moms and then sends the best natural and organic products to try.  Each box has 5 to 9 large sample or full size items that are healthy, sustainable, and socially responsible.  Shipping is included in the price, and retail value is anywhere from $40 to $70.  I was sent the Mom Discovery Box, but there are three options available:

The Mom-to-Be Discovery Box introduces the expecting Mom to new products that are safe for her and her unborn baby. Hand-selected with Mom-to-Be in mind, this box includes products ranging from skin care and prenatal vitamins to organic foods and spa products.

The Mom & Baby Discovery Box is for Moms and their newborns to 18-month-olds. New Moms can look forward to boxes with surprises introducing them to items like diapers and wipes, skin creams and washes, feeding products, organic ‘first foods’ and organic cotton clothes for baby.

The Mom Discovery Box is for any mother, from first-time Moms to Moms with teenagers and beyond. It features healthy, non-toxic, eco-friendly and safe products, including skin care, make-up, healthy home cleaners, non-GMO foods, snacks and treats and wellness and spa pampering products.

Savannah Red Beautiful Sugar Lip Balm ($2.99) is a moisturizing balm that came unflavored in my box, but it’s available in 14 different flavors.  You can combine up to three of them for a custom flavor – I’d love to try a combo of sweet orange, vanilla, and coconut.

Savannah Red Lip Balm

Genuinely Simple Comfrey Cream Multi-Use Healing Salve ($6.99) is a terrific natural muscle rub that soothes and reduces inflammation.  I put this on my bruised, scraped ankle that I got from a truly epic biking fall, and it really helped.

A Place of Healing Organic Goodnight Balm ($6) is a balm to rub under the nose, on temples, or on the bottoms of feet for a calm, restful sleep.  My ten year old finds it wonderfully comforting.

ArnicareGel (sample size) is a cooling gel that relieves pain, stiffness and swelling.  It’s a great natural treatment for my sore legs after riding my bike on trails.

Yogavive Apple Chips ($4.49) are Fuji apple chips that are flavored with chocolate for a healthy sweet snack.  These are going straight into my lunch bag for Monday.

eInvite Stationary is an online source for customizable invitations, announcements, and stationary.  I got some very cute little bears on my sample.

Aromaflage Botanical Fragrance and Insect Repellent ($3.75) is such a great idea!  Smell wonderful with cedar wood, vanilla, and citrus while also keeping the bugs away.

Bioray Before the Flow Dietary Supplement ($58) is the big ticket item of the box.  The July/August box came with either this supplement or else the After the Flow one.  Before the Flow gives a woman all the support she needs to detoxify, increase the immune system, and replenish energy before her menstrual flow.

Overall, I found this box to be a diverse and unique combination of organic and ecoconscious beauty, nutrition, and body products.  Everything was interesting and appropriate for both moms and for women who are simply busy and on the go.

With an overall value over $70, the Ecocentric Mom Subscription Box is definitely worth the $24 price tag.  It’s a great way to try new things and spoil yourself a little bit at the same time.  – Lisa

Epic Blend Premium Lip Balms – review and giveaway

EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms

EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms

Look at that lineup of EpicBlend Premium Lip Balms that the BIZ was sent to test, review and give away! It’s a little like lip balm nirvana. As much as I’d like to keep them all (you’ll soon see why) I only have one set of lips and sharing is good karma. At the end of this review you’ll see what and how you can win. — Marcia

EpicBlend is a Canadian company that created a lip balm that is silky and natural. It was important to them to use high quality ingredients that are ecologically sound and healthy for anyone to use. EpicBlend offers gluten free, cruelty free, vegan, all natural lip balms to moisturize and nourish. epic blend no

There are 3 categories of balms that they sell, each with some unique flavors.

1) Hemp Balms – These are made with Organic Hemp Seed Oil which is an excellent anti-oxidant as well as being nourishing. The one I tried felt moisturizing and it didn’t sit on my lips, instead it felt like I had improved my lips. EpicBlend says that the hemp seed oil quickly absorbs deep into skin cells. (By the way, you won’t get high from these!! Sorry.)

EpicBlend Hemp balms

EpicBlend Hemp balms

Hemp Balms are available in Vanilla, Citrus Kick, Coconut and Mint. There is a new LE one in Banana (I love banana) and an LE Chocolate Rum now too. The one I chose to test is Citrus Kick and it’s a yummy orange that feels wonderful and smells amazingly true to life.

2) More Moisture Lip Balm – This has 7 moisturizers in it. SEVEN! These organic moisturizers give you that extra boost of hydration along with more staying power.

Epic Blend More Moisture Lip Balms

Epic Blend More Moisture Lip Balms

Your choices for More Moisture are Cherry (my pick), Grape, Green Apple and Unflavored. I wavered between trying Cherry and Unflavored but after trying the luscious Citrus Kick, I needed to try out a flavor. Plus my DH loves cherry balms so when he asks for a balm I have one he’ll like to share.

3) Vegan – The Vegan lip balms are 100% plant based and more important they are free of beeswax. So many times that’s an ingredient that manufacturers think they can sneak in! EpicBlend uses an all natural food grade Candelilla wax to make sure these have a smooth texture.

EpicBlend Vegan Lip Balms

EpicBlend Vegan Lip Balms

There are just two flavors in the vegan – Wild Berry and Pineapple-Mint. I didn’t try either because of the giveaway but I understand that Pineapple-Mint has a kick to it.

These cost $3.49 each or a 4 pack for $12. If you live in Canada you’ll get free shipping at $15, if you live in the US you’ll need to spend $20 to get free shipping. In Canada there are oodles of places that carry this wonderful brand.

Multi-tasking with Authentic Skin Remedies Gloss

Authentic Skin Remedies 5Authentic Skin Remedies, a plant-based botanical skin care line, has a wonderfully inspiring story behind its creation. Amy Rueda, the founder of Authentic Skin Remedies, was diagnosed with a rare form of neuroendocrine system cancer of the appendix when she was just thirty-five years old. In researching potential causes she realized that up to 70% of whatever is applied to the skin goes right into the bloodstream. Unfortunately, many skin care products actually contain toxic chemicals.

Amy Rueda, founder of Authentic Skin Remedies

Amy Rueda, founder of Authentic Skin Remedies

Amy changed her entire lifestyle and thankfully her cancer went into remission. Inspired by her experience and research she created a plant-based skin care line with certified organic ingredients. All of her products are cruelty free and paraben free. The Authentic Skin Remedies line is focused on anti-aging and nourishing the skin, and it gets real results.

In addition to helming her skin care line, Amy works as an educator for The Breast Cancer Fund and EWG’s Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, speaking at colleges and symposiums. She also works to promote legislative efforts for safety in cosmetics and skin care. And the very happy news is she also recently gave birth to a baby girl who she calls her ‘miracle baby’.

This Gloss is so much more than body oil!

This Gloss is so much more than body oil!

With such a wonderful and inspiring story behind Authentic Skin Remedies, I was very excited when we were sent the Gloss Essential Bath and Body Oil in Island Bamboo Essence ($33) to test. I love body oils in general because they are perfect hydration and are terrific for layering scents. Little did I know that this body oil could be used in so many ways. It is multi-tasking at its finest!

Gloss Essential Bath and Body Oil

The Gloss can be used literally from head to toe.  Are you ready for all the ways I have found to use it? Here goes!

*  Use it on your hair to immediately get rid of static and flyaway hair.

*  Use it on your face before doing any hair removal (your guy can use it before shaving his beard).

*  Use it on your neck and decolletage to soften fine lines and crepey skin.

*  Use it anywhere on your body as a moisturizer, as the Gloss has avocado oil and sunflower oil which are the closest thing to the natural oils in your skin.

*  Use it on your hands to soften cuticles and prevent hangnails.

*  Use it on your feet to heal dry, cracked skin.

*  You can also use it as a bath oil, to remove makeup, and as a massage oil.  It does so many things it’s like a miracle in a bottle!

The Island Bamboo scent is fabulous, light and fresh and wonderfully clean smelling.  I really love this body oil, and it seems like every day I find a new use for it.

You can check out the Authentic Skin Remedies line on their website and at various other etailers and spas (the list of retailers is HERE). Take a few minutes to read Amy’s story and peruse her fantastic organic skin care line, you will definitely be inspired.  – Lisa

Glossybox April 2013 brings you a “natural day”

Glossybox for April 2013

Glossybox for April 2013

The subscription box fanatic is back with another report. This time it’s my April 2013 Glossybox. I’ve been subscribing to Glossybox since the very first box. Some boxes are great, some fall in the not so great category. Let’s see where this one falls on a scale of 1 to 10.

Work that Beauty with Glossybox

Work that Beauty with Glossybox

The first thing I noticed when I opened April’s Glossybox is that the Glossy Magazine wasn’t there. Personally I don’t care about the magazine so I didn’t mind at all and when I read the reason why, I liked that even better. In honor of Earth Day they decided to keep the magazine online only for April. I think that’s smart. Give me more product in the box and don’t waste resources! (score 10) Their theme is Natural Beauty this month and they achieve that through these products:

April Glossybox 2013 contents

April Glossybox 2013 contents

Let’s start in the shower with Wash With Joe – this is a Coffeemint Invigorating Body Wash. It contains an “invigorating blend of coffee and mint that helps revitalize and balance the body and the mind while keeping skin superbly clean”. I’m sure it’s great but I truly hate the smell of coffee. I admit that’s unusual so blast me if you must but Wash with Diet Coke would be more my style. (general score: 8, my personal score has to be 2 though)

Wash With Joe 1 fl. oz.

Wash With Joe 1 fl. oz. sample

From the shower you have to do your hair so they’ve included Alterna Haircare, Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist. This is formulated to give “just back from the beach waves”. You spray it on damp or dry hair and shape with your fingers for a loose, tousled style. I’ll have to see if this could work for me but my hair is straight since without being straight it’s just weird. (score 4)

Alterna Boho Waves 0.85 fl oz sample

Alterna Boho Waves 0.85 fl oz sample

Next we’ll have some skincare. Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution sample packet is included. This is a very nice moisturizer and if I keep getting these samples I’ll soon have enough to actually know if it works (I probably have 6 by now). If you buy this on Glossybox you can receive $75 off the $225 price with their code. (score 6)

Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution packet

Finally time for my face. This is where Glossybox has gone very natural. They’ve included a lip balm and a bronze toned blush. The lip balm is from The Honest Co. which is an organic company. They sell everything for your family. These lip balms come in a set of 3 for $9.95. They come in lavender mint, sweet orange vanilla and purely simple (the one I received). Even though I have a ton of lip balms, they get lost so easily so having another in the house is fine. (score 8)

The Honest Co. organic lip balm

Makeup wise they’ve included a TIGI Glow Blush in the color Haute. This is a baked formula in a rosy brown. I’m sure it’s lovely but … 1) I have very fair skin so it’s too dark for me; 2) I have more blushes than anyone can use so I’d like to be judicious in finding new ones; and 3) I’d rather not swatch it so that I can include it in a future Beauty Info Zone giveaway. One of my favorite eyeshadows from a long time ago is made by TIGI so I have faith that this blush is a great quality too. (score 7)

Last end your day with a relaxing bath and Bulgari Eau Parfume au the’, Tea Bag for Bath. Well you can do that, you couldn’t pay me to use this fragrance. This is the full size and valued at $9.50. Um, okay. It’s just not my style. (score 0 – no offense if you like Bulgari)

So there you have a natural day with April’s Glossybox. My scores weren’t too high but I don’t think it’s the box – I think it’s me. How would you rate this version of Glossybox? — Marcia
