Rush to Relax with February’s Boxycharm

Boxycharm for February 2016

Boxycharm for February 2016

The subscription that I most look forward to each month is BOXYCHARM. There’s something refreshing about Boxycharm since the brands they share are more unique than other boxes plus there’s almost always 5-6 full size products in it for just $21 a month. Since I love to have giveaways on Beauty Info Zone, nothing ever goes to waste. For February they charmed me with a heart shaped product as well as 3 other full size items and 2 deluxe minis. According to my calculations this box is worth $134 so my money was spent wisely.

Rush to Relax is the theme “From Stilettos to slippers, get ready to work hard and rest easy!”. Let’s see if there’s a bit of rushing and relaxing here.

Spongelle You Have My Heart on a String

Spongelle You Have My Heart on a String

February is the heart month and I adore anything with hearts so this instantly brought a big smile to my face. Spongelle You Have My Heart on a String ($15) is a a body wash that is infused with hydrating olive oil and a blend of energizing and toning extracts. The fragrance is peony which Songelle says is both subtle yet energetic.

Spongelle You Have My Heart on a String

Spongelle You Have My Heart on a String

It’s two sided with the red soft side to be used for cleansing and toning while the white texturized side is for exfoliating and stimulating circulation. You should be able to get 14 uses out of this. I have a suction cup with two mini clips in my shower so with the rope this can be hung up so it won’t get ruined. RELAX in your shower or RUSH through it with this moisturizing wash.

Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask

Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask

Shray full face

Shray full face

Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask was made especially for Boxycharm so it’s a limited edition mask ($12 but their masks on their website are $10). This is a full face mask that is made to be ultra hydrating. Shray masks are 25% off until 3.15 with the code Boxycharm25% off. While I haven’t used this one yet it appears to be like a lot of masks I use and always like. This is a RELAXING 10 minute mask.

OFRA Cosmetics Banana Powder

OFRA Cosmetics Banana Powder

OFRA COSMETICS BANANA POWDER GODET ($12) is a new product for OFRA. This is the full size but in palette form. This is definitely in the RUSH category since this is an all-in-one powder. You can use it on your eyes as a light matte shade to brighten them. You can use this under your eyes to help conceal dark circles. And you can use this as a setting of finishing powder.

Realtree Travel Sprayer

Realtree Travel Sprayer

Realtree Eau de Parfum Travel Sprayer is 10 mL in a spray which is much easier to use than a sample vial. This is sold for $12.99 on the Realtree website. “Real Tree for Her opens up with the sweet taste of pomegranate, a hint of persimmon and an exotic scent of orchids. It blends with lotus blossom and champaca flower and it’s followed by the rich scent of amber, the transient scent of violets and the depth of mahogany wood.”

Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum

Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum

Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum is the sample size of the box. The value of this is $58 since the full size is $115. I’ve got this in my travel bag for the trip I’m on as you read this and I hope to report back to you that it’s worth that amount. The eye serum is said to work on fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. Put it on and let it sit for 3 minutes before apply anything over it. I guess I’ll call this a RELAX but I’d still use it if I was in a RUSH.

Beauty for Real Blush + Glo in Coral Crush

Beauty for Real Blush + Glo in Coral Crush

I saved my favorite for last!! Beauty for Real Blush + Glo in Coral Crush ($24) is the winner of the box. As a huge fan of cream blushes this one is a winner. Not only is the Coral Crush side soft and pretty and peachy on me but the Hi-Beam highlighter end is subtle enough to give a radiant glow without sparkle. This is a cream to powder formula so it dries down.

Beauty for Real Blush + Glo in Coral Crush swatched

Beauty for Real Blush + Glo in Coral Crush swatched

To top it off Beauty for Real provided anti-aging benefits to this. “Featuring our patented ingredient, Luminera with a diamond core complex. As the transparent particles come into contact with the skin, the diamond core complex transforms invisible UV light and works to dramatically diminish the expression of wrinkles, discolorations, and imperfections. Vitamin E and grape-seed extracts provide anti-aging benefits and antioxidant protection. Pomegranate extracts along with organic minerals contribute to this standout formula to maintain its consistency in all climates and exceptionally long wear.” I don’t know whether this is RUSH or RELAX but I do know it’s pretty.

Boxycharm for December 2015

Boxycharm for December 2015

The December Boxycharm subscription stands out to me mainly because I can smell it when I open the package. Happily it’s a delicious fragrance from a product I know I’ll enjoy. Boxycharm is a $21 subscription that comes monthly although you can stop anytime you want. I’ve been getting it since this summer and I’ve enjoyed this subscription a lot – it’s always loaded with full size items and worth a lot more than the $21 it costs me.

NelsonJ Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask ($23) is a brand I’ve tried but not in the coconut scent that is creating the delicious fragrance in my box. This hair mask is made of 100% Argan Oil and helps moisturize hair. What’s interesting about this is that it’s a PRE-WASH. Apply it for a minute for regular conditioning or wait 5 minutes for a deeper repair before you shampoo. The next step is to leave it in (don’t rinse) and then shampoo and condition hair as usual.

NCLA SO RICH CUTICLE OIL ($18) helps to revitalize and hydrate cuticles and nails. It contains Vitamin E extract paired with sunflower seed oil. The packaging is great with the dropper. Don’t take too much out though since for me one drop does the job although my cuticles behave normally.

NCLA SO RICH CUTICLE OIL

TATCHA Aburatorigami Beauty Papers ($12) are wonderful for all skin types. I just get a little oily in my t-zone lately but I love using these luxury blotting papers to refresh my makeup. If you have oily skin they are even better! These are soft and whisper thin. They’re made of 100% natural abaca leaf and gold flake to absorb excess oil without disturbing your makeup.

Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow ($15.95) is an oil free lightweight luminizing gel. I haven’t used it yet because I want to find out from others if it has a fragrance to it. It contains micronized pearlescent pigments and jasmine extract to highlight your face for a radiant complexion. (The black you see is from the crinkled paper in the box, it clings to shiny wrapping)

Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano ($19.90) I believe there were 3 shades sent out. When I saw the spoiler I knew that this would end up in a giveaway for two reasons. First Ofra lip products are more fragranced that I like but the main reason is that this brown red just isn’t my color. Therefore it’s not swatched or opened. What Ofra says about this Liquid Lipstick is that it’s non-feathering, creamy and soft in texture, and that it moisturizes lips.

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano and BELLAPIERRE Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano and BELLAPIERRE Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon

BELLAPIERRE Waterproof Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon ($17.99) is the perfect liner for the OFRA lipstick. These two were a great combination for Boxycharm this month. If you were these shades you’ll be in heaven. A gel liner (eyes or lips) is a great liner since they glide on. This too will be in a giveaway since they are like a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup and belong together.

The value of this month’s Boxycharm is $107. Even if I give away the two lip products I still have $69 worth I’ll love using. And a happy Beauty Info Zone winner. So it’s win win all around!

I’m feeling fab with my August Wantable cosmetics

Wantable August 2015 cosmetics

Wantable August 2015 cosmetics

Welcome to my August cosmetic box from Wantable. This is the subscription that I’ve kept up since I first heard about them. I do love the surprises I get from a subscription box and Wantable remains in my heart. This month’s box is worth $74.15 and I paid $36 for it. I had $4 in credits so I didn’t have to pay the full $40 fee. That means I got double my money’s worth and I’m quite happy with the variety I received this month.

OFRA LIPSTICK IN AMETHYST (retail $13.15) is the item I was most excited to see. I’ve gotten a few scattered OFRA products in boxes but nothing yet that’s been on my wishlist, until now!! Not only have I wanted to try their lipsticks but it’s a shade in my comfort zone. Amethyst is a pinky lavender that’s midtone, it’s not too light and it’s not too dark. Nor does it turn on me. Ofra lipstick is quite moisturizing and it’s enriched with anti-oxifants, vitamin E and natural sunscreens. It does have a fragrance, that reminds me of grape popsicles, but luckily it’s pleasant to me. Good job Wantable. You pleased me right off the bat.

OFRA lipstick in Amethyst

OFRA lipstick in Amethyst

MODEL CO BLUSH in COSMOPOLITAN (retail $22) isn’t the blush I’d pick to go with the Amethyst lipstick but I’ll still use it often. It’s a warm pink that will work well with most of the lips and eyes I choose to wear. It’s got a satiny finish and I love that there’s no glitter in it. My pores aren’t taking well to shimmer lately.

MOSI MEI POLISH in PASSIONATE (retail $15) is a stunning nail polish that I’ll love in the fall. It’s a metallic violet that has incredible shine. I’m a huge fan of metallic polishes and this is a shade I don’t have. I love the square bottle and I’m very happy to have this shade. The Mosi Mei polishes are 5 free, cruelty free and vegan. If this wears well I see a lot of shades on their website that I’d be interested in.

Mosi Mei polish in Passionate

Mosi Mei polish in Passionate

CATTIVA DIVONO LASH MASCARA (retail $24) is my only complaint this month. I’m not complaining about the mascara though. I’m complaining that I’ve been sent 3 mascaras in the last 3 months. Considering a mascara is good for 3 months did I really need another one so soon? If they sent this in November I’d be pleased as punch but I’m not using it until November because I have their last two mascaras open along with others. What I can tell you is that this has beautiful packaging with the top being crystal studded. It’s a paraben free mascara. I just can’t explain how it works yet. There’s a slight chance I’ll send it back to get the $12.95 credited to my account. I just need to decide.

Cattiva Divino Mascara

Cattiva Divino Mascara

Overall I’m very happy with the WANTABLE subscription box for August because it’s given me products I’ve never tried and in shades that work beautifully for me. Nail polish is on my LOVE list in my profile and the other 3 products are all in my like list so they were on track. I understand that there’s now an option to receive skincare as part of your box but I won’t add that to my profile since I’m overloaded with skincare. But it’s nice that it’s an option and you can decide for yourself.

What do you think of this box? Are any of these products you’d be thrilled to suddenly own? — Marcia

How charming is Boxycharm?

Boxycharm subscription box

Boxycharm subscription box

Have you discovered Boxycharm yet? It’s a monthly subscription that contains full size products only. I’m on my 4th month now and I’ve read to receive a sample. Each month there are 4-5 goodies for $21 per month including shipping. I’ve been negligent about reviewing even though I have taken pictures and it’s time I got on the stick here. Each box comes with a card describing the products and prices. The box I’m sharing today has a value of approximately $133.

So what do we have? How about a mascara from the UK, a blush brush, transparent setting powder, conditioning spray for hair and a lip liner? The only difference in the boxes this month is that some people received a lip liner and some an eyebrow pencil. I’m a happy camper with an international twist (US, Canada, UK, Sweden).

Boxycharm Ofra Lip Liner in Maya and YourMinerals Transparent Veil

Boxycharm Ofra Lip Liner in Maya and YourMinerals Transparent Veil

It’s always a pleasure to see an OFRA product in any of the subscriptions I get. I love learning about this line and what better way to do it! In my box is the OFRA Cosmetics Lip Liner in Maya ($13). This is a brick red so it’s different than what I typically buy and a nice addition to my cosmetic collection. It applies smoothly and lasts well. I’ve used it to darken some of my very very pale lipsticks. It blends well with a lip brush to get the change.

yourMinerals Transparent Veil Setting Powder is the medium full size ($26). This is a Swedish line that is all natural. “Transparent Veil is a transparent fixing powder for the foundation that settles like a soft transparent veil over skin. The ultralight silk texture gives a nice smooth surface by minimizing fine lines and pores. The skin is kept matte and the makeup will perfectly stay all day. Apply over your foundation for a flawless performance. For you who quickly gets a blank/shiny face, this Transperent Veil is the perfect tool!” I haven’t used this yet since I have too many powders open but I appreciate the packaging because I know that I can peel back the sticky label, cut it partway down and be able to get the right amount of product out the perforations in the top.

MDMflow Greater Than Mascara

MDMflow Greater Than Mascara

I love trying new mascaras and MDMflow Greater Than Volumising Mascara is very new. So new in fact that it has will become available for sale in late July at Boxycharm’s website for $35. Currently it’s only sold in the UK for 21 pounds so this is a sneak peak. I’ve worn it now for a few days and I am finding it to be very pigmented. So far I don’t notice that much volume but I think this is the kind of mascara that will do better in a few weeks. Some mascaras are like wine and need to age, this one will age well. It’s a very dark black and it removes without much effort. So far no clumping, no flaking and no smudging. I’m really happy about this product in my Boxycharm.

Vasanti Profession Blush Brush

Vasanti Profession Blush Brush

I do happy dances when I find a brush in my subscriptions and this one from VASANTI made me do a jig. Vasanti is a fabulous Canadian company and this $29 brush is made with high-quality nylon fibers and applies blush and powder effortlessly. I’m a very pleased cosmetic applier with this Vasanti Profession Blush Brush.

GORGE I'll make you look amazing daily spray

GORGE I’ll make you look amazing daily spray

Normally you’ll find me yawning when I receive anything to do with hair. I am pretty picky about what I use and I don’t like to switch too often. But GORGE* I’LL MAKE YOU LOOK AMAZING DAILY SPRAY ($29.95) took away the yawn and made me use it the next day. This is a leave in conditioner that they call “magical”. While it didn’t turn my hair into the sexiest ever, it sure made my hair look great. My hair looks shiny and it didn’t get frizzy!! According to gorge* there are 10 reasons you want to use this! 1) Repairs damaged hair. 2) Instantly adds shine 3) Detangles like no other! 4) Seals and protects hair color 5) Prevents split ends 6) Stops hair breakage 7) Creates amazing silkiness 8) Protects from heat 9) Enhances natural body 10) Helps with flat irons. Pretty big promises but they seem to be accurate. This has a coconut fragrance which does linger but surprisingly hasn’t bothered me.

Top Ten Eyebrow Favorites

Top Ten Tuesday is back and this time we’re emphasizing eyebrows as well we should. Eyebrows are the frame for the look on your eyes and I’ve realized that this is a category I’ve previously ignored. When we started Beauty Info Zone I never touched my brows except with a tweezer. I’ve got years worth of pictures that I have no eyebrow makeup on and years with pretty crappy makeup on them. I’ve recently become obsessed with learning how to do my eyebrows right. One of these days I’ll get it too!

I had received a preview of this during testing through a program from PC that sends people (not just bloggers) new products to test and review. Mine looks different but it works the same. It has two shades to use alone or together. I love the cream finish and think it fills in my brows better than any product I own.
1422210616_natural-brow-duo-group-withswatch-06feb14-webPIXI BEAUTY NATURAL BROW DUO ($16) – I just did a whole article on this duo because it’s great for me for everyday. It comes in three shades (natural brown, brunette and soft black). Natural Brown is an easy to wear color with cool undertones. I love the matching gel side and plan to buy it in the Brunette too.
1422210878__6054294SMASHBOX BROW TECH TO GO ($28) – My first ever brow product was the original Smashbox Brow Tech. A friend taught me about QVC and raved about it. I had it in several shades and used it whenever I felt I should do something. They’ve changed it plus added this Brow Tech To Go. It’s one product that I totally used up and I never use anything up. It wasn’t until I was almost done that I realized there was a gel on the opposite end. I felt like a fool about that but I still have it and use it. This is easier to use than the original but it can become hard so I usually had to warm it up first.
1422211220_browpoweruniversalIT COSMETICS BROW POWER UNIVERSAL PENCIL – I have nothing but love for this pencil. The color is a neutral to cool brown and there’s a spoolie at the opposite end to make sure your eyebrows are nicely formed. The most wonderful thing about this is that for every Brow Power Universal Pencil sold ($24) one is donated to Look Good, Feel Better to help women with cancer regain their self esteem. What a wonderful charity and I love IT Cosmetics for doing this.
1422211278_el_universalbrowOFRA COSMETICS UNIVERSAL EYEBROW PENCIL ($13) is one I received in two of my subscriptions. I gave away the first but luckily I have the second. This is an ultra smooth soft pencil that is very easy to apply. It’s a neutral brown that was created to work for all skin and hair tones but I think it’s probably best for brunettes.
1422210524_818MILANI COSMETICS BROW TINT PEN ($6.49) is one I recently bought. I’ve only been able to find it in Natural Taupe so far. I like this a lot because the tip is fine and it’s great to draw in hairs to make your brows look natural. I just ordered it in Dark Brown (the only other shade available) because I’m too impatient to drive around town trying to find it. Taupe is a warm brown that is almost a universal shade.
1422211714_60329PIXI BEAUTY LASH AND BROW BRUSH ($8) is a spoolie that helps with brushing your brows before you apply anything on them. Brushing them up and making them even is an excellent and easy way to prepare your brows for makeup. It’s also great to use after your brows are done to make sure they look perfect. In addition you can use this on your eyelashes to brush out those clumps.
1422211140_59270MAKE UP FOR EVER ANGLED EYEBROW BRUSH #270 ($21) is the best brush I’ve ever used on eyebrows. In spite of not doing my brows much prior to the last year, I still have several brow brushes. When I received this brush I realized that it blew my others out of the water. This is a very firm brush that can be used with powders, gels, creams and pencils. I highly recommend this brush.
1422210938__45048SMASHBOX ANGLE BROW BRUSH is the other brow brush that I reach for. It’s hard to find but it used to be part of the Brow Tech set so I have two of them. I found them on cutandblow.com for a reduced price. I’m very glad I have these now that I’m back to brows.
1422211594__6622425TWEEZERMAN SLANTED TWEEZERS – I must have a minimum of 6 of these in my house. I feel lost without my tweezers and Tweezerman are the ones I’ve trusted and used the longest. The original slanted full size tweezer is the best.
1422211440_265x265xclear_brow_gel_.jpg.pagespeed.ic.rl7gjw77v4ANASTASIA COLORLESS BROW GEL ($22) is something you should have in your arsenal of tools. I like MAC Cosmetics clear brow gel too. I just have a mini Anastasia one from a kit right now and it comes in handy to tame the bushiness.
I’ve read two Brow Tutorials lately that are excellent for shaping your eyebrows and want to share them with you. The first is from INTO THE PALETTE and the second from PHYRRA. Both are great guides that I recommend. With these tutorials and the right tools you are on the road to perfection.

Wantable Cosmetic subscription for 10/14 – another winner

I’ve been a Wantable subscriber since I first learned about it shortly after they opened their website. I’ve been lucky enough to get some boxes for review but even when I don’t, like today’s box, I’ve kept my subscription up since the $36 a month that I pay for a box always contains more than my money’s worth.

Wantable Cosmetics October 2014

Wantable Cosmetics October 2014

What I love best about Wantable’s subscription is that it’s 100% cosmetics. I don’t have to worry about receiving more skin products, hair products or bath/body. It’s not that I don’t like and appreciate those items, I do, but I love cosmetics and that’s where my main interest is. Whenever I open a subscription box my excitement is really for the cosmetics within. With Wantable you get to customize via your profile. My profile says that I love eyeshadow, eyeliner, nail polish and tools; that I like complexion products, brows, lash products, blush, lip color; and that I don’t want highlighter or bronzer. For October I received 1 Love item and the rest from my Like list. Let’s check these out.

opening my Wantable cosmetic box

opening my Wantable cosmetic box

Inside are 5 full size items. Wantable is only going to send full size! I was excited to see that my box carried Vincent Longo, Ofra, Chella, and Liberty Republic. These are all name brands that I’ve bought or definitely would buy.

Wantable goodies

Wantable goodies

LIBERTY REPUBLIC is a nail polish brand created by Jordan Liberty. The new collection, placed in the October boxes, is the Welcome to the Darkside collection. Interestingly enough my shade is a light one rather than a dark shade. There are 6 shades in this exclusive to Wantable collection and they are said to use a technique that helps it last for 7-14 days. I’m excited about being able to wear this beautiful peach shade, Aura. ($14)  I don’t have nail wheels available right now and the swatch on paper didn’t look good but trust me, this is pretty.

The item that stood out the most in this month’s box is a BB Cream from OFRA ($40), this is a huge tube at 2 oz. I received this in Light. Light is a good description for this since it’s not Fair enough for me and it is on the yellow side. I’ll be able to wear this if mixed with a little of my Face Atelier Zero foundation but for now it’s not quite right. The ingredients in this BB Cream are great for skin (aloe vera, vitamin E and C, avocado oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, chamomile extract and shea butter). There’s flower extract to reduce bacteria and prevent breakouts. I’ve been wanting to explore more OFRA though and this is a good way to do it.

VINCENT LONGO does double duty in my subscription box. First is the VOLUME PLUS MASCARA ($25) which I’m looking forward to using. My mascara dried up when I was hospitalized so having this is an exciting option for me.

Vincent Longo Volume Plus Mascara

Vincent Longo Volume Plus Mascara

One of the top sellers for Vincent Longo is their Lip and Cheek Stain ($24) and this month I received it in Angel’s Touch. This is more of a berry stain than I’d expect an angel to impart. The color is intense when first applied so you need to pat it to make it appear more like a stain and to set the product. Directions say to make sure your cheeks are well hydrated; begin at the apple of your cheeks and dab 2-3 dots on with the doe foot applicator. Immediately blend them outward and upward toward the temple. Add more as needed. This new gel formula is gluten free and paraban free.

The last product but the first I used is CHELLA EYEBROW COLOR in Luscious Light Brown ($18). When I returned home from my many weeks away the hair on my face had exploded. I was able to get to a beauty salon and while there had my brows waxed. They look good but certain areas are more sparse than I like. This Chella Eyebrow Color looks good, is easy to apply and needs no sharpening. Sending my husband on wild goose chases to find all my items is frustrating for us both. This solves one of those problems.

My Wantable subscription has $121 worth of product in it. This is probably the highest value yet. These are all products I’ll use even though I’ll have to adapt the Ofra BB shade so it makes the box even more valuable. Wantable made a welcome package to open upon my return and I know I’ll be welcoming them more as the months go by. — Marcia

Win a Wantable.com Cosmetic box

Regular readers of Beauty Info Zone know that I love subscription boxes. I’ve had to narrow it down to just a few but the ones I get are the best ones out there (in my opinion of course). I’ve raved about Wantable.com since I discovered them and filled out that first survey.

Wantable.com for June 2014

Wantable.com for June 2014

I (as in Marcia) was recently sent a box that contains one of my absolute favorite items but I already own it. After looking at the box I asked the owners if they minded if I shared this with a reader so they could see why I’m so crazy about Wantable. If you are the winner (US only) you’ll receive this box, a typical wonderful Wantable.com cosmetic box. The items have been opened to be photographed but that’s all – not swatched or touched. I guess you could be me wearing these.

The value of this box is $88 but with a subscription it would cost you $36. The brands it contains are incredible: Tarina Tarantino, Mirabella, Ofra and Vincent Longo.

Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cream Blush in Mr. Pink

I am totally in love with this blush. I own it and I wear Mr. Pink or Coral Cameo all the time. A Tarina Tarantino blush is always on my vanity since I wear one so often. This swatch picture is from my original review and I’m glad I have it to show you the beautiful cool pink tone.

Besides the great cream blush the other side has a light creamy sheen with some golden sparkle. I don’t use that side personally since I’m not a face sparkle person but it is beautiful and would look great on the right person. This $28 blush is the highlight of the box in my personal opinion.

2) Mirabella Lip Color in Tantrum ($22) is a rose pink and a perfect shade for the Tarina Tarantino blush. Both are going to make you look fresh and rosy all year long. This is from a new collection called Pretty & Polished with highly pigmented shades.

3.) Ofra Universal Eyebrow Eyeliner ($10) looks like a great brown eyebrow pencil. I haven’t tried Ofra products yet and I was tempted to keep it but I wanted someone to receive the whole box. Ofra products are known for their incredible pigmentation so this isn’t going to be wimpy.

4) Vincent Longo Pressed Face Powder in Golden Banana ($28) – this is such a wonderful brand. I have quite a few Vincent Longo products in my collection. This is a large mirrored compact with the softest of powders in it. It comes with a powder puff so you can touch up on the go. “By triple milling the powder and using real silk fibers, the powder becomes ultra fine and smooth to the touch.” A yellow powder just warms up your complexion, it doesn’t look yellow once on.
