butter LONDON Wanderlust and Nordstrom Anniversary sale go hand in hand

butter LONDON Wanderlust set

butter LONDON Wanderlust set

One of the biggest events of the year for shoppers is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This once a year event is talked about for months in advance because who doesn’t want to find beauty bargains and beautiful clothes and accessories? With the Anniversary Sale the prices only last as long as the sale goes on, then they revert back to full price – if they are still available that is.

I was sent butter LONDON’s Wanderlust 6-piece Petite Lacquer Set which was on my wishlist. 6 fabulous mini polishes in the cutest gold clutch that is reusable, all for $29 ($48 value).

It’s hard to pick out which one of these 6 beauties to wear. Will it be Weekend Getaway, a peony pink creme? Are you in the mood for nude with a little shimmer in Road Trip? I’ve been wearing Adventure Awaits the last few days with its champagne sparkle and multi-colored micro glitter.

Return Ticket is a similar polish but a warm gold with multi-colored micro glitter. It’s gorgeous! I’ve also worn Full Steam Ahead, a true grey creme. To round this trip out there’s the Midnight Train, a demi-matte charcoal shimmer.

butter LONDON nail lacquers are ones you want because of what they don’t have! They are 8 free, formulated without formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene or TPHP. That’s a mouthful but one you don’t have to pronounce because they just aren’t there.

I can’t tell you how much I love this set. I have 6 polishes that wear beautifully and a new gold clutch all for $29. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is going on right now for Early Access and will be open to all on Friday July 22nd through August 7th. Don’t miss out.  —  Marcia

LVX Serene nails of the day

LVX Serene Nail Lacquer

LVX Serene Nail Lacquer

In my June Boxycharm I received the beautiful LVX Serene Nail Lacquer. This is a perfect cream shade for summer. Whether it’s on your toes or on your hands, it’s the epitome of what you’d like the sky to look like on a summer day. Therefore I had to share pictures with you of this beauty.

This is the polish I wore for the 4th of July weekend. I was outside most of the weekend but never in direct sunlight. I wasn’t the only one who decided that a light blue would be perfect for the weekend but I was the only one who was asked what polish they were wearing and where it could be bought.

Serene from LVX lasted perfectly for an entire week and stayed a true blue. I will definitely be picking up more LVX now that I know how beautifully it lasts and how smoothly it glides on.  — Marcia

Makeup Wars favorite new brand: Polish Me Silly plus more

Favorite indie polishes: Nine Zero, Polish Me Silly, Lilypad Lacquer

Favorite indie polishes: Nine Zero, Polish Me Silly, Lilypad Lacquer

Makeup Wars this week will be quite diverse since the participants have a wide open range of items to choose from with Favorite New Brand. It took me absolutely no time to decide on what to write about since I’m crazy about nail polish. My preference is to buy Indie brands of polish. While I love so many brands, both indie and mainstream, my heart really belongs to the Indie brands. By buying these you are supporting other women who love polish and put their heart and soul into designing colors and polishes that will make your nails sing.

Polish Me Silly in Paradise and Dynamite

Polish Me Silly in Paradise and Dynamite

One such brand is POLISH ME SILLY *, created by a mother/daughter team and sold on Etsy.

All of our polishes are custom- blended and have loose cosmetic-grade glitters, micas and colorants added to them. They are 3 free~~NO Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)~~NO Formaldehyde and NO Toluene.

Paradise is aptly named. I’m in paradise wearing this polish. It’s called a Mega Multichrome polish which is a great description. It’s like wearing a rainbow of colors on my fingers. In different lights, it turns different colors. It is often a beautiful teal but then you’ll look and see some navy peeking out on one side. Move your hand and you’ll see a deep enticing cool purple.

Polish Me Silly Paradise

Polish Me Silly Paradise

Just look at the shifts this one polish has. I’ve been wearing it for 5 days now and it looks like new. People have either grabbed my hand to look at it more closely or come up to tell me how gorgeous it is. I used three coats for this manicure because my nails are long right now and I wanted no visible nail line.

Dynamite is the second polish that Polish Me Silly sent and I can’t wait to wear it. This is also a Mega Multichrome so it’s like a party on your nails. Dynamite is a gorgeous reddish-magenta, burnt orange, yellowish-golden & green color shift (description from Polish Me Silly). Just look at this picture from Very Emily to see why it needs to be on your list a.s.a.p.

When I was swatching these on my nail wheel I could easily see that Dynamite was a two coat polish with Paradise needing that third coat. At $8.50 each you will attract the kind of attention you want to attract.

There are two other brands that I’ve been loving lately too. Nine Zero Lacquer and Lilypad Lacquer are two brands I’ve been buying.

Nine Zero Lacquer in February 2016 and Santa Suit

Nine Zero Lacquer in February 2016 and Santa Suit

I discovered Nine Zero Lacquer on Kellie Gonzo’s blog when she showed the February 2016 Polish of the Month and I fell in love with it. At the time I also bought Santa’s Suit which is a stunning cherry red jelly with gold microglitter in it. This is still available for $10 but the polish of the month is only available for one month. I have the April one ordered and will share that when it arrives. I’m a little biased about Nine Zero since it’s made in Michigan and the shipping prices are so reasonable.

Nine Zero Lacquer February 2016

Nine Zero Lacquer February 2016

I love shades that have holographic glitter within. I don’t wear true glitter because of how difficult it is to take off. But polishes like the ones being shown today are easy to remove.

The third brand that I’m thrilled to share is Lilypad Lacquer. I discovered this brand on Cosmetic Sanctuary. It’s sold on Color4Nails and Lisa has a code for 10% off: CSant10 that I used when I bought my polishes.

Lilypad Lacquer in Iconic and Edgy

Lilypad Lacquer in Iconic and Edgy

Iconic is a light purple lavender with blue shimmer. Edgy is a darker purple described as a blackened violet with violet shimmer.

Do you have a favorite Indie brand of polish? Have you ever tried the brands I’ve shown? I’m sure my love for these will continue to grow as will my collection. — Marcia

Get beautiful polishes that are 8 free from Chrome Girl

Chrome Girl Nail Lacquer

Chrome Girl Nail Lacquer

The first time I wore CHROME GIRL was in 2013 when the company was brand new and only had created 18 shades of nail lacquer. They’ve now been in business for 3 full years and their inventory has grown and grown. You have your choice of over 46 polishes.

CHROME GIRL sent Lisa and I several polishes and treatments and I’ve had the pleasure of wearing two of the three polishes that I received. I wear polishes for a full week so I really get the opportunity to see more than just their beauty – I test wear time. I won’t keep you in suspense since the two I’ve worn have lasted the week. The worst I’ve seen is a little tip wear on a few nails towards the very end of the time. Otherwise they win the gold medal.

Chrome Girl nail lacquer in Love Note

Chrome Girl nail lacquer in Love Note

Love Note is a beautiful true red cream. There’s no orange or blue to it. Just a beautiful red that flatters my skintone.

Chrome Girl Lacquer in Love Note

Chrome Girl Lacquer in Love Note

I couldn’t have asked for a better shade for the month of February or any month actually.

The second one I wore had me panting with excitement. MERCURY IN RETROGRADE is the one I grabbed out of Lisa’s hands when we deciding who would review each one!

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde

Look at this beautiful shade. It’s like being on an island at sunset and being mesmerized by the water. It appeared more blue on my nails than in the bottle but that didn’t take away from the shimmer and shine.

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde

You can see the depth of the shimmer within yet this is not a polish that will give you trouble removing it. It removes just like a cream polish, nothing makes it adhere with flakes.

I have one more polish yet to wear but I just couldn’t wait to share these two.

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde, Barely Legal, and Love Note

Chrome Girl Mercury in Retrograde, Barely Legal, and Love Note

Barely Legal is a wonderful sky blue cream that I know will wear just as well as its pals. It fits in very well with the Pantone Color of the Year for 2016, Serenity Blue. I’ll be sharing this with you in April when the skies turn blue again.

I’ve saved the best for last. This is the only 8-free nail care product in the market. That means it is produced without: Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate, Camphor, Xylene, Acetone, Silicone. Chrome Girl is a cruelty-free company that is made in the US and has polishes that are safe for every age.

Take some time to peruse their website to see what shades draw you in. I have my eye on at least half a dozen. — Marcia

Color Me Monthly Janus for January’s polish of the month

Color Me Monthly Janus

Color Me Monthly Janus

What color do you think of when you think January? Some months are just so easy – February is pink and especially red; March is green and the more emerald the better, April brings us pastels that would be Easter Egg perfect, October is orange of course. But what about January? Maybe navy because of the darkness of it would fit. But charcoal? Who would think of charcoal other than the wonderful women who own Color Me Monthly.

Each month they pick a color they think represents the month. And yes, they did choose charcoal. A charcoal gray jelly. This was chosen in honor of Janus, the god of beginnings, transitions, and door. He looks to both the past and the future so January is his month.

Be fashionable with Q&Q watches and butter LONDON polish

Q&Q Smile Solar watch and butter LONDON polishes

Q&Q Smile Solar watch and butter LONDON polishes

When it comes time for gifting having a plan is always helpful. I created a post about a nail themed stocking yesterday and today I have a wonderful idea to add to that. These Q&Q Smile Solar Watches are perfect gifts and would make a stellar set when paired with a butter LONDON nail lacquer. I received the gray and silver combination and I just love it.

Q&Q SmileSolar watch in grey

Q&Q SmileSolar watch in grey

Q&Q is a division of Citizen Watches with some very reasonable prices. They have styles for men and women with a huge variety of designs. I have a SmileSolar in gray that looks fabulous with butter LONDON Diamond Geezer Polish. There are 16 different watches in the SmileSolar family ($40).

Q&Q SmileSolar

Q&Q SmileSolar

Once you charge the watch by leaving it in the light, the solar powered battery will keep it running for 3 to 5 months before you need to recharge it. All it takes is light. The watch is made of recycled material. Q&Q (Quest & Quality) has changed light into energy all while keeping the world green.

Q&Q SmileSolar watch and butter LONDON Diamond Geezer

butter LONDON Diamond Geezer Nail Lacquer ($15) is a holiday polish that is festive but surprisingly not glitzy. A diamond geezer according to butter London is what the Cockneys call a kind, helpful and reliable man; A gem of a man.

This metallic polish is fabulous on. What amazes me most about it is that there were no streaks at all. Not even a hint of one. It applied smoothly and evenly. Definitely a gem.

I couldn’t get enough of either the polish or the Q&Q watch. Diamond Geezer is New Year’s Eve ready and the watch helps me keep time of how my life is frittering away. Which combination would be the most exciting for you? — Marcia

FABY Nail Lacquer is truly Faby

Faby Nail Lacquer

Faby Nail Lacquer

Today we have a trio of some fabulous polishes by FABY. Originally a polish only found in Italy, FABY has come to the US with over 150 colors to choose from. These long lasting, chip resistant polishes are all big 5 free and quick drying. We think you’re going to love what you see and we hope you’ll seek out these absolutely fabulous FABY Nail Lacquers ($18).

MARCIA’S POLISHES

I would gladly have absconded with all three of the polishes we received but Lisa intervened and took one as her own and I don’t blame her. I still have 2 and have delightfully worn them. Miss Scarlett, I Suppose is a metallic scarlet that I wore for two solid weeks with only minor tip wear. Velvet Touch is a cream polish described as a plush purply-brown.

FABY Miss Scarlett, I Suppose

FABY Miss Scarlett, I Suppose

Miss Scarlett, I Suppose has won a place in my Top 10 polishes of the year. I love a cool red polish and having the shiny metallic finish makes it ideal.

FABY Velvet Touch is a great fall color. When first applied it’s very thin and takes on a reddish purple hue but with the second coat it fills in and burnishes its true beauty.

While it doesn’t have the charisma of Miss Scarlett, it’s a perfect example of a fall polish that will be admired. My second coat was done heavily so that I wouldn’t have to do a third and the color transformed to full coverage easily.

LISA’S POLISH

While Marcia’s polishes are perfect for fall, I think of my happy pink selection as a way of instantly traveling to a gorgeous beach vacation. The Ladies of Leonardo is a bright pink that I am sure most everyone would think is a strange pick for the current season…but it’s a great escape!

Faby The Ladies of Leonardo

Faby The Ladies of Leonardo

I originally thought this was a straight cream polish, but it does have a slight shimmer. I am wearing two thin coats plus a top coat. While this is a bright pink, it’s not Barbie pink so it is adult enough to be great for work…but bright enough to transport me to the Bahamas whenever I need a little stress relief.

Faby The Ladies of Leonardo

With over 150 colors there is no doubt you can find a shade (or twenty!) perfect for any season and any occasion.  Head on over to the Faby website and get lost in the sea of color!
