Some cosmetic fun with Wantable this month

my Wantable April 2015 Cosmetics subscription

my Wantable April 2015 Cosmetics subscription

My April Wantable Cosmetic Subscription box is so much fun this month. It’s got color products galore. It was like getting an Easter basket for a makeup fanatic, the only thing missing was chocolate. April’s box was sent for review, we include affiliate links for Wantable so we can build credits to get the boxes.

Wantable has changed the way they are doing business and it’s for the better. The first box you buy will cost you $40 but if you subscribe for future boxes it drops to $36. They also tell you the Wantable value of each item by dividing the products up to equal $40. This way you can return items you don’t want and get a credit back on your next box.

For April I received a blush, eyeshadow, lipstick and a blush brush. Almost a whole face! The total value is $81 which is double the price of the subscription so it’s definitely a value. One item for sure is being returned though so that will add to next month’s credit.

The product that dazzled me is MIRABELLA PINK BLOSSOM EYESHADOW. This is from their Wild Flower collection and it’s stunning. Not only does it have the prettiest design I’ve seen but the color is stunning. This collection has Prismatech shades that are shimmering beauties. They cost $28 each which is a lot but boy is this gorgeous. This is my favorite product for April and probably for the last few boxes too.

If this was a horse race then we’d have to have a photo finish to see if FRANKIE ROSE PINK LADIES blush ($17) came in first since this is a winner too. I’ve reviewed a Frankie Rose palette with neutral blush before so I knew that the quality was amazing. I feel so lucky to have this very cool pink blush now to add to the other lovelies. This looks scarily bright in my pictures, almost neon, but it applies so much softer and it’s easy to buff down with a brush or puff to soften it more. The finish is satiny and gorgeous.

For lips there’s a lipstick by DOUCCE. This is a new brand to me and the packaging makes it a stand out. It’s sleek, contemporary, and snaps shut so it will stay safe in your cosmetic bag. I have it in #909 TANGELO ($20). I didn’t swatch it because I’m debating whether or not to keep it. The color is beautiful so I’m very tempted. The lipstick is a Mineral Matt with SPF 10 and vitamin E. But it’s so fragranced that I’m worried I’ll wear it once and not again. I keep smelling it though because I want to own it. What to do?? I wish I didn’t have such a sensitive nose!

The last item is the one I’m returning and I’m sorry that I am. It’s a SORME BLUSH BRUSH ($16) which I was excited to see in the package but the brush is scratchy and my cheeks are too sensitive to use it. I love tools in my Wantable subscription boxes but this one just doesn’t have the quality. Instead I’ll return it for a $7.90 credit towards my future boxes.

With two absolute winners, one maybe and one return, I still made out perfectly and I’m still excited about the box. The thrill of opening a WANTABLE COSMETIC SUBSCRIPTION BOX each month hasn’t worn away even after all the years I’ve been a subscriber. You should get in on the thrill and hopefully you’ll use our affiliate link to do so.

Wantable wants you to look gorgeous in July

Wantable July 2014

Wantable July 2014

I love opening a Wantable package and just looking at the boxes of products inside. I try to guess what they could be before I look at the accompanying sheet or open them. For July Wantable sent an interesting combination of brands and products for review on Beauty Info Zone. And as usual I’m thrilled with them all.

Wantable cosmetics July 2014

I just read an article online that there are two colors you can’t go wrong with this summer – black and white. My Wantable box proves that this month. I have a treasure of black and white with a pop of color. The brands received are all known and loved by me making this a box I’m excited to use.

First product I opened was by Tarina Tarantino. It’s a brand I’ve grown to love so I was excited to see a TT box in there. I did laugh out loud though because the same eyeliner that my blog partner recently reviewedUltraviolet Eye Dream Hyperliner was the treasure in the box ($15). Now Lisa and I can be twins when we meet for lunch. This waterproof liner glides on easily because it has spheres of jojoba oil and vitamin E to moisturize and prevent it from cracking when on your eyes.

My eyes were then drawn to a box from GlamNatural. In a previous Wantable box I’d received a terrific cream blush that I love using so I couldn’t wait to see what other treasure I’d received from GlamNatural. This time it’s a mascara ($28).

Glam Natural Mascara

GlamNatural Mascara

The mascara reminds me a lot of the one I’ve used from Le Metier de Beaute. It’s not a dramatic mascara, it’s like the name “glam natural”. But it’s a reliable mascara that is good for daily use. GlamNatural products are vegan and paraben free.

The next box for me to open was from Mirabella and the treasure inside is a Perfecting Powder. I love the packaging of this. To me a loose powder needs to have a sifter top with holes and one that can be opened as much as you want and then totally closed so it doesn’t spill. Mirabella did this right. The translucent silica powder is weightless and doesn’t make me look like Angelina Jolie on a bad day ($30).

I saved the most intriguing for last – Three Custom Color aka 3CC Wet/Dry Cake Liner in Charcoal. This can be used wet or dry (obviously) and it can be used as an eyeshadow too. ($22.50)

3CC wet/dry eyeliner

I love the complexity of the color. In person it’s a darker charcoal than the picture shows but in a close up like above you can see the specks of different shades of gray and blue. It’s really a pretty color. I don’t use powders for liners on my eyes unless I either use them wet or I use them with a transforming liquid like Trish McEvoy Finish Line since they are more intense and longer lasting that way. Three Custom Colors doesn’t get enough publicity so it’s easy to forget about them but Wantable knows that their quality is top notch.

Each month Wantable works with a different makeup artist or beauty blogger to help choose the brands and products that will be sent out. For July they featured Sacha Selhi, a professional makeup artist from NYC.

I love seeing what others got in their boxes each month since no one gets the same. Brands for July are the ones I got plus Ofra, Mica Beauty, Vincent Longo and more.

As you surely know by now, Wantable is the best subscription service because it’s so customizable. I love that they go by my personal preferences in colors and types of product. A subscription is $36 per month and you always get at least 4 full size products. This month’s box value is $95.50! Now that’s a bargain.

A treat awaits you for July and onward with Wantable. I’ve linked to our affiliate link in case I’ve convinced you that you can’t live without Wantable. We earn credit toward boxes for review if you are kind enough to click through our link. Thanks to all who’ve helped us out. I hope you are a Wantable fan! Tell me in the comments which product you’d love from this box. — Marcia

Win a Wantable.com Cosmetic box

Regular readers of Beauty Info Zone know that I love subscription boxes. I’ve had to narrow it down to just a few but the ones I get are the best ones out there (in my opinion of course). I’ve raved about Wantable.com since I discovered them and filled out that first survey.

Wantable.com for June 2014

Wantable.com for June 2014

I (as in Marcia) was recently sent a box that contains one of my absolute favorite items but I already own it. After looking at the box I asked the owners if they minded if I shared this with a reader so they could see why I’m so crazy about Wantable. If you are the winner (US only) you’ll receive this box, a typical wonderful Wantable.com cosmetic box. The items have been opened to be photographed but that’s all – not swatched or touched. I guess you could be me wearing these.

The value of this box is $88 but with a subscription it would cost you $36. The brands it contains are incredible: Tarina Tarantino, Mirabella, Ofra and Vincent Longo.

Here’s what the winner will receive:

1) Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cream Blush in Mr. Pink

I am totally in love with this blush. I own it and I wear Mr. Pink or Coral Cameo all the time. A Tarina Tarantino blush is always on my vanity since I wear one so often. This swatch picture is from my original review and I’m glad I have it to show you the beautiful cool pink tone.

Besides the great cream blush the other side has a light creamy sheen with some golden sparkle. I don’t use that side personally since I’m not a face sparkle person but it is beautiful and would look great on the right person. This $28 blush is the highlight of the box in my personal opinion.

2) Mirabella Lip Color in Tantrum ($22) is a rose pink and a perfect shade for the Tarina Tarantino blush. Both are going to make you look fresh and rosy all year long. This is from a new collection called Pretty & Polished with highly pigmented shades.

3.) Ofra Universal Eyebrow Eyeliner ($10) looks like a great brown eyebrow pencil. I haven’t tried Ofra products yet and I was tempted to keep it but I wanted someone to receive the whole box. Ofra products are known for their incredible pigmentation so this isn’t going to be wimpy.

4) Vincent Longo Pressed Face Powder in Golden Banana ($28) – this is such a wonderful brand. I have quite a few Vincent Longo products in my collection. This is a large mirrored compact with the softest of powders in it. It comes with a powder puff so you can touch up on the go. “By triple milling the powder and using real silk fibers, the powder becomes ultra fine and smooth to the touch.” A yellow powder just warms up your complexion, it doesn’t look yellow once on.

Why I forgive IPSY subscription box service (and a giveaway)

If you’ve noticed, I’ve never reviewed IPSY although I did review the original Glam Bag, their former name. I disliked Glam Bag and gave it a very short time before I cancelled it. But when they switched to IPSY the reviews were getting better and better. Finally my friend Beth raved enough that I changed my mind and decided to go for it. I filled out the form and was “accepted” within a month.

I waited patiently for my April Ipsy bag. And I waited some more. And I waited even longer. No bag, no sign of it, nothing on tracking. I finally got my act together and emailed them to find out what was going on. The response was quick but when I asked for a refund they wouldn’t give it to me. Instead they said they would send out a new bag.  I’m still waiting as I write this review.  (Update at end of review)

May 2013 Ipsy bag

May 2013 Ipsy bag

But my May Ipsy bag arrived even though April’s is still floating in the stratosphere somewhere. I was all set to cancel out Ipsy until I opened that magenta envelope and discovered that I definitely got more than my money’s worth with this bag. As you can see in the picture above there are 4 full size products and a very deluxe size sample. That’s unheard of even for the higher priced subscriptions and this is only $10 a month.

Every month Ipsy sends their products in a cosmetic bag. I’m sure by now that some of the subscribers have oodles of bags in their possession but this is my first. It’s a summer bright bag that will be easy to find in the depths of what I call a purse but others might call a small suitcase.

The items this month:

Zoya Blu

Zoya Blu

Zoya Nail Polish in Blu. Surprisingly I don’t have a pale blue like this so it’s a great addition to my collection. Even better it’s  described as “a full-coverage, soft and delicate pale baby blue with a glossy creme finish. A dreamy, calming blue that’s both fun and flattering on the nails.” This full size polish sells for $8. Definitely a keeper.

Pacifica Bronzing Body Butter

Pacifica Bronzing Body Butter

Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl Bronzing Body Butter. This body butter is a self tanner too. Since it’s coconut scented this is going to be a gift to my blog partner since it marries two of her favorites: coconut and self tanners. This would cost $7 retail.

Juice Beauty lipgloss in Champagne

Juice Beauty lipgloss in Champagne

Juice Beauty Reflecting Lip Gloss in Champagne. This is the lightest of the 4 shades that Juice Beauty makes which is fine with me. It’s a yummy smelling sticky gloss that imparts high shine. This sells for $15.

Mirabella Color Sheer lipstick in Posy

Mirabella Color Sheer lipstick in Posy

Mirabella Color Sheers lipstick in Posy. While I’m not a fan of dark lipsticks, the fact that this is sheer makes it great. Plus the Juice Beauty gloss would lighten it up a bit. This is a new brand for me. Here’s what the company says: “Beautifully sheer lip color to wear all day and night. Mango butter base nourishes lips. Available in a wide range of fashionable shades. Lead-free; Paraben-free.” The price on this is $22.

Yaby concealer refill in Buff

Yaby concealer refill in Buff

YABY concealer refill in Buff. From what I’ve seen of past bags Yaby is a favorite brand of Ipsy. I believe they had an empty palette one month. This small concealer is the refill size and would fit into any magnified palette or you could keep it in the plastic case it comes in. This sells for $4.85.

May 2013 Ipsy

May 2013 Ipsy

I forgot to photograph two items. First is a card with a code for $110 off Hair Styling Tools or Hair Extensions from NuMe. I thought my flat iron was broken the other day so I might look into what they sell to see about a spare. There’s also card that tells what discounts I could get from the Glam Room on ipsy.com according to what the products that I was matched to; for example Zoya would be Buy 2, Get 1, Yaby would be 20% off.

Now for an update… I received my May Ipsy on a Saturday and then on Monday I received a big box. What was inside it? TWO April Ipsy bags. Not one, but two. They made up for my inconvenience with amazing customer service. Inside the April bag is Be A Bombshell blush in Sweet Cheeks, Sation nail polish in a pretty pink in Of Corset I’ll Love You (specially made for Ipsy), Mica Beauty Cosmetics loose pigment in Earth and Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Styling Treatment. Since this is a spare, it’s now a giveaway for one US reader. I love giveaways as you must know by now so having a surprise one for you is fun. The most interesting thing about this post is that I named it before I got the extras. So now the name of this post (Why I forgive IPSY subscription box service) has a double meaning. I’m impressed with Ipsy’s reincarnation at the moment and especially their customer service. — Marcia
