Milani comes in all sizes with the Makeup Wars Team

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe palette in Candle Light

The original vision for this week’s Makeup Wars was a particular palette from Milani which some of the bloggers will be sharing with you. But we couldn’t all find the palette which is my main complaint with Milani. I love what Milani has become but finding specific products is often a problem. So some of us are just going with the flow and sharing what we love. I’m one of those people.

Milani Hypnotic Lights and Stellar Lights

I previously reviewed Milani Hypnotic Lights in Luminous Lights and 2 Stellar Lights palettes in Rose Glow and Holographic Beams. Gotta tell you that I am crazy about these and find they have made a nice impact on my cosmetic life. To see more about these read my review and see the photos since you’ll want these too if you can find them. I know that the Hypnotic Lights are still available and they make a great a great alternative to Becca highlighters at a third of the cost.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

Today though I want to share a palette I found at Walgreens and have gotten a lot of use from. There are 3 different SPOTLIGHT FACE & EYE STROBE PALETTES available. I chose Candle Light because a) it wasn’t broken or used which the others were and b) these are MY colors. Plus the fact that it can be used on face and eyes sold me ($13 on Milani.com and $16 on Amazon).

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe palette in Candle Light

The colors in this palette have a glow to them which is why I like using this so much. There’s a cream, bronze, and pink but they aren’t the typical cream, bronze, and pink. Instead they are light reflecting and take on a glow that I find so attractive.

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe palette in Candle Light

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe palette in Candle Light – swatches and a mix of the colors

The look I get on my eyes is radiant and soft. They are the perfect antidote to winter’s darker shades. I not only wear them as is from the palette (with an eye primer first) but I also mix them to create new shades as seen above.

When I want to wear them on my face I’ve got both a blush and a highlighter that coordinate well. The middle shade is a cool pinky rose on me and I love it. I’m sure I’ll use this up first. The bronze shade in the middle adds a warmth to use for contour or a deeper blush tone. But the best is using a fluffy brush all over and lightly powdering over my entire face. There’s glow, there’s radiance but there’s not glitter. No little piece of shimmer getting into my pores to ruin my look.

If Candle Light isn’t right for your skintone how about Sunlight which is the warmer version

or Golden Light, the darker version

No matter which of these Milani products you are eyeing, you just can’t go wrong. The quality, depth of pigmentation, and price make these cosmetics you’ll really enjoy owning and more important, using! —  Marcia

update  –  you can get 15% off at Milani’s site now with the code WINTER15. I don’t know how long that will last.

New Year’s beauty with Milani

Makeup Wars chose the topic of last minute gifts today but as I was perusing websites I realized that it’s almost too late for items to be shipped in time for Christmas. So I’m talking about New Year’s Eve instead and the pretties you can get in time for that special occasion.

Milani Hypnotic Lights and Stellar Lights

If there’s ever a time to glitter and glow it’s now. With Christmas and New Year’s Eve in a 7 day period you get to pull out all the stops Go for gorgeousness with cosmetics that won’t break the bank – MILANI.

Ever since I first discovered Milani it’s been a favorite brand and one that I can rely on. I’m insanely attracted to highlighters but I don’t use them enough to spend a fortune on them. When Milani sent these highlighters my way I was sitting on Cloud 9. Testing and wearing them has been delightful and will continue to be for the holiday events coming up.

HYPNOTIC LIGHTS Powder Highlighter is available in 4 gorgeous shades ($13). They remind me of Becca highlighters which are more than 3x the cost. A similar intoxicating design, soft holographic colors and a wonderful glow.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

This powder is infused with light reflecting pearls that illuminate and give a soft almost imperceptible glow yet move your head and the pink iridescence shows to its best advantage. The highlighter is so soft to the touch, you want to pet it! Wear it over blush or eyeshadow for a look that will bring out the Cinderella in you. I have Luminous Light, a soft pink, and there’s also Beaming Light (light lavender), Luster Light (light peach), and Flashing Light (golden tones). To boost the color more spray your setting spray (Milani Make It Dewy) on your blending brush first. You can find Luminous Light and Luster Light at Ulta and all 4 at Milani.com.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

For a little more razzle dazzle you’ll want to give STELLAR LIGHTS Highlighting Palettes a whirl. These powders have some glitter in them but it’s not glitter you’ll find all over your face or clothes when you wear them. There are two palettes that contain 3 shades in them ($13) which you can wear separately or mix/match.

Milani Stellar Lights Highlighting Palettes

Holographic Beam is a cool toned dream with its soft iridescent blue, pink and peachy gold.

Milani Stellar Dreams in Holographic Beam

Milani Stellar Dreams in Holographic Beam

The shades  in both of these Stellar Lights palettes are micro-milled and buildable so it can be used by the young adventurous lovelies and the older stylish ladies alike. The shades are very richly pigmented and give a multi-dimensional highlighting effect.

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow is a warmer palette with a beautiful white, fabulous gold, and terrific rose gold. The shades can be used in several ways. Apply them where sunlight or candlelight hit your face using either a blush brush or your fingers. Use your finger to gently dab the colors onto the inner corners of your eyes and on the Cupid’s Bow. Use your brush to apply a shade along the bridge of your nose and cheekbones and blend. While you probably don’t need both palettes, you wouldn’t be sorry if you bought both!

Milani Amore Shine and Stellar Lights

Milani is known for their lip products for good reason. You’ve more than likely seen their lipsticks and liquid lips touted online and that’s because they have a wide variety of colors for every woman’s taste and they are so well priced at $9 each.

AMORE LIGHTS Liquid Lip Color is available in 12 shades. Unlike most liquid lip colors available these days these are shiny and not matte. In my opinion they are so much easier to wear than a matte lip. The applicator tip makes them a breeze to apply since it hugs your lips while dispensing the color evenly. “Designed with a weightless texture and non-sticky feel for hours of non-feathering, comfortable wear. Contains a pout-loving blend of emollients and collagen microspheres, so lips appear full and voluminous.”

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush and Seduction

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush

One swipe really gives me enough color to do my lips. I like to put some on my bottom lip, rub my lips lightly together and then use the tip of the brush to even it out. When I wear Crush I find it lasts well and leaves a light stain behind. It doesn’t feather on me at all. I am very happy to report too that I don’t notice any fragrance with Amore Shine.

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush and Stellar Lights in Prismatic Pink

Now for true holiday fun you’ve got to try STELLAR LIGHTS Holographic Lip Gloss. These are the shiniest glosses in town. There’s some contained micro-glitter in the color and if you aren’t careful you’ll find some glitter travels but it’s worth it when you want to sparkle.

Just look at these colors. To die for. There are 6 in all (Opalescent, Iridescent Blue, Luminous Peach, Prismatic Pink, Flourescent Fuchsia, and Kaleidoscopic Purple, $9). These are lightweight and have holographic light reflective pearls in them giving you that prismatic shine. These do have a light cocoa fragrance to them but all you’ll notice is how enticing they make your lips look. Wear these alone or put them over your lip color of the day.

Milani Stellar Lights Holographic Lip Gloss in 01 Opalescent and 04 Prismatic Pink

MILANI Cosmetics are found in many mass market stores along with some at Ulta and lots of special items like these Holographic ones on their website. As a cruelty free company that strives to produce products to complement all ethnicities, skin tones, and ages I think they’ve done a fabulous job. Party makeup doesn’t have to be expensive but it needs to be as beautiful as these products. Have a fantastic holiday. —  Marcia

Top Ten Eyeshadow Primers

It’s Top Ten Tuesday time and our topic is primers this week. It will come as no surprise to regular Beauty Info Zone readers that my list is all about Eyeshadow Primers. It’s not that I don’t have enough facial primers to use for our topic but I’m a little nuts (or maybe a lot) and have this need to have all the eyeshadow primers available. While 10 are mentioned here I have more that I like but maybe not quite as much as these.

Eyeshadow Primers come in all prices which I’m demonstrating for you today with versions that range from $2 to $32. Price isn’t always the determining factor when it comes to this type of product. My $2 primer from E.L.F. works almost as well as my $20 Too Faced primers. The important thing to me is to use an eyeshadow primer every time I do my eyes. Primer is meant to even out skintone, make the colors last without creasing, help eyeshadow colors go on more evenly, and create a more vibrant look.

Top 10 eyeshadow primers

Top 10 eyeshadow primers

$1-$2  E.L.F. SHADOW LOCK EYELID PRIMER || There are 3 shades of this primer available. Right now E.L.F. is having a moving sale so the colors left are available for $1 but normally they are $2. My favorite is Champagne (there’s also Sheer and Pearl) because it is a light taupe/champagne shade adding some interest without a bit of shimmer.

$6.49  MILANI EYESHADOW PRIMER || This is one of my very favorite primers. I usually look for a sale on it and pick up 2 at a time. It took me a while too appreciate it since it’s thick at first but I learned to love it after running out of Too Faced Shadow Insurance once and now I always have one handy.

$6.99  NYX EYESHADOW BASE  ||  My only pot eyeshadow primer although that’s all I used to use. This has good points and bad. I’m not a fan of the pot itself. For someone with long nails it’s just a pain. I bought this in Pearl because I wanted the tiny bit of pearly shimmer which makes this worth getting out a taklon brush to apply it. It’s stiff and doesn’t go on as easily as a cream product but it does the job well and Ulta often has sales on NYX. This is also available in white and skintone.

Milani, NYX, ELF eyeshadow primers

Milani, NYX, ELF eyeshadow primers

$15  em cosmetic eyeshadow primer  ||  No one ever talks about em cosmetics anymore. This Michelle Phan line came out with a bang but it’s whimpering away. Out of all the products I’ve bought from the line this is the stand out. There’s a slight gleam to it that peeks through and makes eyeshadow more vibrant. I’d buy this again without a doubt.

em cosmetics eyeshadow primer

em cosmetics eyeshadow primer

$18  bareMinerals PRIME TIME EYESHADOW PRIMER  ||  This is a great primer but it’s really small. It’s a perfect size for travel though but I’m going through this pretty quickly for home use. I wish I didn’t like it this much or that the price wasn’t quite this high. My shadows stay so well when I’m using it.

bareMinerals eyeshadow primer

bareMinerals eyeshadow primer

$20  TOO FACED SHADOW INSURANCE  ||  This is the eyeshadow primer that changed the game. It’s the most talked about, that’s for sure. Be sure you shake it before using it the first time and then again about once a week. It can come out watery which you want to avoid. TFSI is the one I use the most because I can really rely on it. I know it will keep me creasefree under all conditions.

$20  TOO FACED SHADOW INSURANCE CANDLELIGHT  ||  Too Faced created a few more of their Shadow Insurance to meet the needs of everyone. The one I have is Candlelight which is a bright gold that just lights up my eyes. There are days I’ll put Candlelight on my lids, TFSI original on my brow bone, and a beautiful brown toned shadow in the crease. There’s no glitter in Candlelight but it is a bright shimmery gold. If I wore more glitter eyeshadows I’d buy TF Glitter Glue Shadow Primer since I know the quality of the brand.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight and original

Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight and original

$21  LORAC BEHIND THE SCENES EYE PRIMER  ||  I don’t know why everyone isn’t shouting about this from their rooftops. It’s a fabulous eyeshadow primer. There was a small one in my LORAC Pro Palette and once I used it I knew I needed it in a full size. It’s $1 more than the Too Faced but it’s considerably bigger so there’s more bang for your buck. It has a slant tip opening which can get a little messy but I usually squeeze it out on my hand to apply rather than directly on my eye. I’m telling you – you are missing out on a gem if you don’t have this primer.

Lorac Behind the Scenes eyeshadow primer

Lorac Behind the Scenes eyeshadow primer

$29  BENEFIT AIR PATROL  ||  I had no intention of buying this because it’s obvious I don’t need another primer in my life. But I got a sample that lasted me for a few days and that sold me. This is very yellow which is why I wasn’t going to buy it. But once I used it I realized that the color wasn’t an issue once applied. This is considered to be a BB Cream Eyelid Primer and it has broad spectrum SPF 20 which I’m happy about. The tip is different since it’s a “cushion calm” tip that is exceptionally soft. A little goes a long way with this so I expect it to last a good amount of time.

Benefit Air Patrol eyeshadow primer

Benefit Air Patrol eyeshadow primer

$32  EDWARD BESS ILLUMINATING EYESHADOW BASE  ||  Edward Bess was my splurge item. I bought it much before the Benefit so even though the prices aren’t too far different I knew it was a splurge. It comes in three shades (Dune, Cashmere, Suede). Cashmere was my choice and I’m happy that I bought it. It looks a lot like a concealer with its brush applicator. Once I let it dry shadows really adhere to it. Anytime I have a poor performing shadow I turn to this Illuminating Base since I know if it doesn’t work with this, then the shadow just isn’t going to work. It’s worth the extra money even if I save it for special days.

Edward Bess eyeshadow primer

I have other eyeshadow primers that I like (Urban Decay, Make Up For Ever, and IT Cosmetics for example) but they don’t get used as often as these 10. I know not everyone needs 10+ eyeshadows in their life but I’m obsessed and obviously obsessive! — Marcia

Makeup Wars drugstore lipstick finds with Burt’s Bees, CoverGirl, Milani

makeup wars drugstore lipsticks

We’ve been doing Makeup Wars posts for several years now. It’s not always easy for the group to come up with new themes that haven’t been done but I believe we’ve done it this time. I don’t remember writing specifically about lipsticks that you can find at drugstores before so we have something new for you. To be honest I rarely buy lipstick at the drugstore and it’s mainly because they don’t have testers. I like seeing the lipsticks I buy and that’s because it’s not always possible at the drugstore. On to the majority of what I do have ….

BURT’S BEES LIPSTICKS * are the ones I was most excited to try after seeing them on other blogs. They don’t disappoint.  makeup wars burts bees packageThe packaging of these belies the $9 price. With 14 shades to choose from you won’t have trouble picking favorites. Burt’s Bees lipsticks are creamy and hydrating. Just like the lip balms they are so famous for, these are loaded with great ingredients. They are made with 100% naturally moisturizing ingredients like moringa and raspberry seed oils to keep the moisture in. While they give you color they are also hydrating and conditioning your lips. I don’t think you can go wrong with these.

Burt's Bees Lipsticks Nile Nude, Tulip Tide, Blush Basin

Burt’s Bees Lipsticks Nile Nude, Tulip Tide, Blush Basin

Burt's Bees Lipsticks Blush Basin, Tulip Tide, Nile Nude

Burt’s Bees Lipsticks Blush Basin, Tulip Tide, Nile Nude

When I first open them I notice a fragrance but that’s the last time I notice it.  It dissipates instantly.I have 3 shades (Blush Basin, Nile Nude, and Tulip Tide) and am eyeing Iced Iris now that I know how great these are. Blush Basin is a warm mauve, Tulip Tide is a beautiful pink, and Nile Nude is a warm nude and doesn’t have the orange that my picture depicts. These are available at Ulta and Ulta.com and drugstore.com.

Covergirl Coloricious oh sugar!

Covergirl Coloricious oh sugar!

COVERGIRL COLORICIOUS OH SUGAR BALM! * is the newest lip product from Covergirl. These are vitamin enriched tinted lip balms in pretty pastel packaging. The outer packaging doesn’t necessarily give you a hint as to what’s inside. Be sure you check the bottom of the tube for a truer shade.

Covergirl Coloricious oh sugar!

Covergirl Coloricious oh sugar!

I’m loving these since they give just a hint of color yet are loaded with balmy richness. There is no fragrance but when I lick my lips I notice a slight sweetness to them. If you are looking for deep pigment these may not be for you, but they are perfect for me since I like a sheer lip that is moisturizing.

Covergirl oh sugar! in Candy Bonbon and Taffy Tire

Covergirl oh sugar! in Candy Bonbon and Taffy Tire

I have Candy Bonbon (aka Candy) which is a light rosy pink on my lips and Taffy Tire, a ‘your lips but better’ shade on me. These are normally $8.99 but are on sale at drugstore.com at the moment.

Milani Dulce Caramelo

Milani Dulce Caramelo

MILANI COLOR STATEMENT LIPSTICK has become a bloggers delight. If you are a matte lipstick lover then these are for you. How many lipsticks have 45 shades to choose from, in a variety of finishes, and only cost approximately $5.50? After all the hype I had to try one and chose Dulce Caramelo which is a warm nude that’s not too dark (in spite of my swatch).

Milani Dulce Caramelo

Milani Dulce Caramelo

Milani’s Color Statement Lipsticks are highly pigmented and contain Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Dolce Caramelo is a cream finish that’s slightly shiny. My only problem with it is that it’s fragranced so I’m not sure I want to continue buying these, although a fabulous pink just might change my mind.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolas

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus

REVLON ULTRA HD LIPSTICK in Gladiolus a real departure for me. It’s red and I really don’t wear red lipstick. But when a friend offered it to me, I took it to test it out. Have I worn it out of the house? Of course not but someday I might get brave enough.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolas

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus

The color is absolutely stunning. It’s the shade of red nail polish I love so much with its pinky undertone. I’m experimenting with it though to see if I’ll find a way to make it work for me. This comes in 20 shades and it’s opaque in one coat. It’s not sticky but it does have a fragrance. Right now Revlon is BOGO 1/2 at Ulta.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose

As usual I neglected to put in some of my favorites from PIXI like their lip crayons, Lip Lift Ice (clear plumping gloss), and Shea Butter Lip Balms so forgive me!!

Milani Everyday Eyes is more than an everyday palette

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection (01 Must Have Naturals)

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection (01 Must Have Naturals)

I have to tell you that finding this Milani Everyday Eyeshadow Collection palette was a total shock. I have 3 CVS stores in my stomping grounds and they never have anything new from Milani. It can be months before I see something and forget it if it’s limited edition. I was so surprised to find it that I furtively put one in my cart and ran to the cash register. I didn’t even think about taking a picture of the small display so you know I was excited.

The shadow collection does not disappoint. Of course I have dozens of neutral palettes so Must Have Naturals is nothing original for me and most likely for you. But for about $10 to have such beautiful shades that are easy to apply and blend is a pleasure.

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection (01 Must Have Naturals)

Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection (01 Must Have Naturals)

There are 6 palettes in the collection although the Milani special display for this just had 4 (Must Have Naturals, Earthy Elements, Smokey Essentials, and Bare Necessities). I chose Must Have Naturals because I love the taupe shadow in this and only found out when doing research that it’s called Cool Neutrals – it was meant to be.

I do have to warn you that these sell for $9.99 on Milani.com but for $10.49 at CVS (and $9.99 online). But this particular week there’s a $4 Extra Bucks Reward if you spend $10 on Milani so I came out $3.50 ahead.

Must Have Naturals by Milani

Must Have Naturals by Milani

The back of the palette gives you  directions on how to use each color but you know it’s up to you.

Step 1: HIGHLIGHT –  Sweep BASE color across lid from lash line to brow bone
Step 2: CONTOUR  –  Apply CONTOUR shade under the brow bone, blending from inner to outer corner
Step 3: COLOR  – Tap LID color onto center of lid, blending well
Step 4: DEPTH  – Apply CREASE color to outer corner blending through crease

The Base shade is a cool cream shade that I use on my browbone. I feel it changes the other shades if I use it over my entire eye.

The Contour shade matches my skintone just about exactly. Their description shows this shade on the inner eye crease. I haven’t used this shade yet because that’s not the way I do my eyes.

The Lid shade is my favorite shade in the palette. It’s a beautiful golden taupe with just the right amount of satin but no glitter to be seen.

The Crease shade is a dark chocolate brown that you can build up in intensity if you want.

Must Have Naturals by Milani

Must Have Naturals by Milani

Step 5: BRIGHTEN  – Tap SPECIALTY shade lightly on inner corner of eye
Step 6: DEFINE  –  Apply LINER color close to upper and lower lash lines

The Specialty shade is much pinker than it appears in my picture but it’s a soft baby pink that works well for highlighting and the inner corner of your eye. This has a small amount of shimmer to it but it doesn’t show up very shimmery.

The Liner is a matte black that is obviously meant to be used as a liner but you can use this without a problem as an eyeshadow, especially if you want to use this for a smokey eye.

The palette comes with a two sided brush that is usable but not special.

Milani Everyday Eyes palette

Milani Everyday Eyes palette

If you are a fan of the Bella Eyes Gel shadows I think you’ll like this (and the others) a lot. The texture is more powdery but still soft and easy to apply. The colors have good pigmentation and don’t fade away when used with an eyeshadow primer like Milani’s.

For $10 this was a happy discovery for me. Enough for me to see if they have any left! What do you think of this palette? Have you seen these yet?  — Marcia

Top Ten Drugstore Favorites from 2015

Our last Top Ten Tuesday of 2015 contains items we can actually afford, even after Christmas. The ten I picked are products that I’ve used often, some even daily, in the last year. All are favorites. I’ve tried to save you from my repeats (mascara for example) but some are just too good not to share again.

1451339740_413gbp5maul._sx300_ql70_ CHOPSAVER LIP BALM is a new product for me to share with you but one I’ve been using daily the last several weeks. This is one of the most interesting lip balms I’ve tried this year. It was developed by a professional trumpet player, Dan Gosling, who you know really needs his lips being healthy. I have this in Fresh Citrus which has the tiniest hint of orange and contains SPF 15. It comes in natural without a sunscreen but I prefer it having the sunscreen. A winner!! *

1451339854_51mq4dtzy1l._sy300_ql70_BURT’S BEES ALMOND & MILK HAND CREME is different than most of the hand creams that I own. This comes in a jar and is very firm but touch your finger to it and it starts melting to a creamy texture. This is extremely thick, containing beeswax and Vitamin E to both hydrate and shield. I think this makes a great foot cream. I put it on my elbows and on my ankles since those two places get extremely dry for me. The almond scent is light, just a little bit nutty as it’s tempered with the non-fat dry milk. If you wash your hands over and over then this is what you are looking for. *

1451341804_41a-etmeyal._ac_ul160_sr160_160_RoC SMOOTH PERFEXION INSTANT LINE CORRECTOR is one of my favorite RoC products. I was so excited about this when I received it since it’s a much less expensive dupe of Murad InvisiBlur. I do have to use a separate SPF product with RoC Instant Line Corrector but it’s worth it. It’s a blur product that makes your foundation look better than ever. *

1451340822_31uimzctxjl._sx300_ql70_TWEEZERMAN STAINLESS STEEL SLANT TWEEZERS are an item I use every single day of my life. I’ve used other tweezers but I always return to Tweezerman. They can be sent in for resharpening but I like a brand new fresh tweezers when I get to that point. I’m more likely to drop my tweezers than anything which is why I have so many around (at least 5!!)

1451340168_31fqtxqmjhl._sy300_ql70_MILANI EYESHADOW PRIMER is my favorite drugstore eyeshadow primer. I have this thing about primers and use many different brands. I like to make sure I have enough on hand for an emergency. Milani’s is just as good as the “high price spread”. Don’t start your eye makeup without an eyeshadow primer and Milani’s is as good as they get.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer

1451340287_21qyq9kbr_2bl._ql70_NYX EYESHADOW BASE IN WHITE PEARL is another alternative eyeshadow primer. The NYX isn’t as convenient to use since it’s in a pot and I need to use a brush to apply it. But the White Pearl is a nice alternative to the nude of most primers. It holds eyeshadow extremely well and gives a lot of depth to certain shades.
1451340014_41gc7-mqdel._sy300_ql70_AVEENO SKIN RELIEF GENTLE SCENT LOTION, the newest addition to the Aveeno line. The product from Aveeno that’s best for sensitive skin is their fragrance free line. But not everyone likes fragrance free so they’ve developed their Skin Relief body wash and lotion in a Nourishing Coconut scent that isn’t overpowering at all. I’ve got two minis of this and they are already in my travel bag. *

1447723035_lasting-finish-25hr_2_product-300x300RIMMEL LASTING FINISH 25 HR FOUNDATION – you are probably tired of me talking about this Rimmel Foundation but every time I wear it I’m amazed again at how great it is. It’s the only drugstore foundation I own. I chose well (091 Light Ivory) from the 7 shades available since I don’t have to play with the color to have it match. And at $6.97 it’s a steal.

1433204538_07366PHYSICIANS FORMULA EYE BOOSTER 2-IN-1 LASH BOOSTING EYELINER + SERUM is another product that you’ve probably heard me rave about more than once. Finding a great liquid liner isn’t the easiest thing to do but finding one in brown at the drugstore is almost impossible. I’ve tried most brands that I could buy and nothing compares to the PF for me. The color is a true brown and the brush is sturdy and gives me the thin line I love.

Top 10 Under $10

Top Ten Tuesday is always fun but today is especially so. I got to pick out 10 items that cost $10 or less to show you. With the winter holidays peeking around the corner you need to find some stocking stuffers or just something to perk up your own life. Here are some of my favorite cosmetic items. I’d love to learn what yours are too. — Marcia

LIPS

1.  PIXI BEAUTY SHEA BUTTER LIP BALMS ($8) come in 5 colors plus clear and they are totally awesome. They are a combination of a nurturing lip balm and a lipstick except they aren’t sticky at all. My blog partner Lisa raves about these constantly so I had to see what the fuss was about and now I agree with her. Pick from Ripe Raspberry, Coral Crush, Pixi Pink, Natural Rose, Honey Nectar or clear. I can’t wait to go back to Target to pick up Pixi Pink.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose

2.  COLOURPOP is the hot brand of 2015. Their products are all so reasonably priced ($5-$8). They are known for their Ultra Matte lipglosses but those don’t do it for me. I do like their Lippie Stix though and I have several including the sheer Juice Bar in the collage. While not my favorite I appreciate all the choices and that they have matching Lippie Pencils for most of the Lippie Stix ($5 for the Lippie Stix, $5 for the Lippie Pencils). Totally fun pick me up and if you use the code “thanksbabe” you’ll get $5 off your order.

.

BLUSH

3.  Speaking of ColourPop, they have 24 shades of blush in three different finishes (matte, satin, and pearlized). The texture of ColourPop blush and eyeshadows is not what you expect. They have a spongy feel to them and are a bit tricky the first time you apply them, but after you get the hang of them you’ll come back for more.

4.  MILANI ROSE POWDER BLUSHES aren’t in my collection but they need to be. There are nothing but raves for these. At $7.99 if you see them, grab them.

EYES

5.  HARD CANDY SASSY EYES SULTRY PALETTES ($8) are in sturdy metal palettes with shadows that belie their price. There are 3 variations of these and if they are anything like the Smokey Eye Palettes that I have from the spring, then they are top rate. I still use my Smokey Eye Palettes all the time.

6.  SLEEK I-QUAD EYESHADOW & EYELINER PALETTES  ($8.99) are on my wishlist. There are 3 different palettes with three eyeshadows and a gel eyeliner. I’d have chosen one of the I-Divine eyeshadow palettes if it were under $10 but those are just above the limit at $11.99. This is a brand that I’m loving the more I use it.

NAIL POLISH

7.  SINFUL COLORS ($1.99) amazes me. I’ve had the opportunity to review quite a few of their polishes and they last a full week on me. I know I mention them often but there’s a good reason for that.

8.  PIXI BEAUTY NAIL POLISH ($8) is another polish brand you’ll hear about from me over and over. I love how easy these are to find at Target, I love the colors, I love the wear. I just bought Olive Gold at Target after craving that shade for so long. With 40 shades you’ll easily find some you’ll crave too.

.

HIGHLIGHTER

9.  e.l.f. ILLUMINATING PALETTE ($6) will satisfy your craving for highlighting aka strobing. 4 shades, $6. Can’t be beat. I just wish I could find the newer e.l.f. in stores.

CLEANSING

10.  SIMPLE SKINCARE MICELLAR MAKEUP CLEANSING WIPES (approx $6) don’t totally fit this week’s theme for me but I just bought them and I’m impressed with a capital I. These wipes are different than the other brands I’ve tried. They are refreshing and remove cosmetics really well. They are gentle enough for my eyes which surprises me. Normally I use a separate eye makeup remover but so far I’ve even been able to get away without that. These may end up on my Top 10 list of the year.
