The secret is out – you need Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24Hr Mascara

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

I’m having a case of deja vu. Once upon a time before you knew me as Marcia the blogger I was Marcia the editor and reviewer of a cosmetic website and messageboard. We were a very happy group with members from all over the world. Through my friends on The Grapevine I learned of Mirenesse mascara made in Australia and fell in love with it. Almost all of us were crazy about this mascara but just as our website fell aside when Facebook took over the world, our group fell apart and I no longer heard about Mirenesse. Well now I’m happy to tell you and my fellow Grapeviners that Mirenesse is easy for us to get and just as great as we remembered it to be.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

Mirenesse isn’t a one trick pony, as a matter of fact they have a great variety of mascaras if you have a preference for a certain kind – iCurl, Organic, Original, Super Volume, as well as lash primers. And unlike most mascara companies you can find a favorite in black, brown, purple, and indigo.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

Secret Weapon Supreme 24 HR Mascara is the one I’ve been using this go around and I’m thrilled to have Mirenesse back in my life.

Our first Ultra-light Stretchable Elastic-Gel formula in “Black Haven ” gives you ultimate Glossy Length, Volume and base to tip Lash Lift, creating a winged doe eye effect in seconds, a look so magical you could fly!

This award winning mascara is a gel formula that amazingly washes off with just water yet it lasts the entire day without a smudge or flake in sight.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

While the box tells me that this has Microwrap Tubes I don’t find it to be like other tubing mascaras. If I want I can curl my eyelashes again later in the day without them “cracking” because the mascara leaves my lashes soft. Upon removal there aren’t any spider legs though I do find some little dots of mascara on my face.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Supreme 24 Hr Mascara

Our incomparable ”Bewitching Brush” (inspired by the shape of witches hat) is ingeniously tapered to reach the smallest lashes on one end, and rounded on the wider end to easily load lashes and Triple the lash length in the outer eye corners for a look so full and feathery, extensions will become a thing of the past.

The best part is when I look in the mirror and I still see curl, length and volume at the end of the day. The curl especially amazes me since my own lashes are stubs that are very stubborn. The ‘bewitching brush’ allows me to get in close to my eye without any smearing or smudging.

Now that the Secret is out about this amazing mascara you don’t want to wait for people to wave you down to find out what false eyelashes you are wearing. It’ll be Mirenesse Secret Supreme 24 Hr Mascara! — Marcia

Marcia’s eyes love DIVADERME MASCARA DIVA FXII

Lisa and I each decided to write about different products while still having the experience of trying all three of Divaderme’s lash line goodies. We are so thrilled that these came into our lives. My review is for the DIVADERMA MASCARA DIVA FXII which has transformed my lashes into beauties that I’m actually proud of. My lashes aren’t very polite – some days they thrill me, some days they despair me, and some days they are just plain wonky. Seriously though every day that I’ve worn this mascara has been a thrill day.

Divaderme Mascara Diva FXII

I’ll warn you right now that this is one of the higher priced mascaras I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying yet I won’t hesitate to buy it when its time is up ($48.95). It’s more than just a mascara since it is infused with Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, a potent peptide and protein that attacks free radicals and protects and strengthens lashes in one step.

Divaderme Mascara Diva FXII

The mascara is on the dry side which is wonderful to me. Not dry like “is this old?” but dry as in not wet. It goes on cleanly and easily and darkens my lashes with each stroke. It lengthens lashes with tiny plant-based fibers in an Argan Oil enriched formulation. You can’t see the fibers but when you see your lashes you’ll see how they’ve been enhanced.

Divaderme Mascara Diva FXII

The ingredients in Divaderme Mascara Diva FXII make this unique:

  • Beeswax, or Cera Alba, is rich in fatty acids and esters, which help keep lashes plump and healthy.
  • Artichoke extract, also known as Cynara Scolymus Leaf Extract, provides natural pigmentation without chemicals or artificial colors.
  • Plant waxes, such as Copernicia Cerifera Wax, provide a creamy consistency, making mascara application smooth and effortless.
  • Coconut Oil, or Cocos Nucifera Extract, provides deep conditioning and imparts a natural, glossy shine.
  • Panthenol occurs naturally in every living thing and enhances body, sheen, and lash texture.
  • Urticum Dioica Extract, also known as nettle, nourishes skin and aids in healthy hair production.
  • Cellulose fibers are plant-based and adhere to your lash tips, creating length and volume.
  • Rosmarinus Officinalis Extract has antioxidant properties and can calm irritated skin.
  • Keratin provides hydration and improves lash elasticity, which can result in less breakage.

I’m so happy with the difference that this is making in my lashes. If I want more volume then I’ll add in the Lash Extender that Lisa describes. That’s when my true diva will come through! In the meantime I have lashes that don’t flake or smudge and that hold a curl for at least 15 hours. It even removes easily with micellar water. I can’t ask for more.

Lisa’s eyes love LASH EXTENDER and FIBER WINGS MASCARA:

The Lash Extender ($22.95) is a way to build up lashes between coats of mascara to really increase the va-va-voom factor. It makes lashes very thick, full, and even longer – we are talking mega glamour, like falsies without glue or fuss. You start with a coat of mascara, then go over the wet mascara with the lash extender.

Divaderme Lash Extender

Divaderme Lash Extender

You can see it looks like little fibers. They grab onto the wet mascara and build up. I don’t find they mess with my contacts at all and they really do create tons of volume and drama without any muss or fuss. Plus, over time they act as a treatment to actually strengthen and enhance lashes!

PRODUCT FEATURES

  • Instantly lengthen and volumize lashes up to 1000%.
  • Create full, lush lashes without harsh chemicals or artificial ingredients.
  • Instant gratification with long-term benefits all in one bottle.
  • Safe for contact lens wearers.

NATURE’S PERFECT INGREDIENTS

  • Boswellia Serrata, the Indian version of frankincense, can both strengthen hair roots, reducing fallout, as well as improve shine and condition.
  • Tocopherol, similar to Vitamin E, conditions skin and helps keep follicles healthy and producing new growth.
  • Panax Quinquefolius Extract, also known as American Ginseng, often has a firming effect when applied topically

I haven’t used it for the full 4 to 6 weeks yet so I can’t tell you my end results, but if this works I don’t know why I’d ever NOT use this treatment. It’s certainly making my lashes look amazing so far.

Divaderme Fiber Wings Mascara

Divaderme Fiber Wings Mascara

I have also been testing the FIBER WINGS MASCARA ($19.99). I am happy to report this is a terrific mascara. It gives lovely, deep black lashes that are lush with drama. Cellulose fibers wrap around lashes making them look thick and full.

  • Fiber Wings II Mascara is a natural Argan Fiber Treatment Mascara.
  • A single coat creates dramatic definition, length, thickness, and volume.
  • Your 2-in-1 fix for instant results and long-term benefits.Your 2-in-1 fix for instant results and long-term benefits.
  • Active ingredients nourish, strengthen, and moisturize.
  • Natural cellulose fibers in deep rich mascara create instant length.

NATURE’S PERFECT INGREDIENTS

  • Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, prized for its ability to promote hair growth and provide a beautiful sheen, conditions lashes with every stroke.
  • Cera Alba, or beeswax, is rich in fatty acids and esters, which help keep lashes plump and healthy.
  • Panthenol occurs naturally in every living thing and enhances body, sheen, and lash texture.
  • Nucifera Extract, or lotus root, conditions and strengthens lashes while adding shine.
  • Cynara Scolymus Leaf Extract, or artichoke extract, provides natural pigmentation without chemicals or artificial colors.
  • Keratin provides hydration and improves lash elasticity, which can result in less breakage.

This mascara works great with the Lash Extender or just by itself. It never smears or smudges either. Just a winner!! My lashes are happy, happy, happy. Big thanks to Divaderme.

Two different testimonials from reviewers with totally different lashes yet one conclusion – try Divaderme! We are sure you’ll be thrilled.

Makeup splurges for better or worse

What constitutes a makeup splurge? Is it money? Is it the lack of resistance? Is it weakness? I say it all depends on the situation. A splurge can be something that’s $5 or something that’s $100. It’s all what you believe you want rather than just need. Today I’m featuring 7 products that I feel I splurged on. Some are worth every cent, some are regrets. Please check out my choices to see if you agree.  —  Marcia

NATASHA DENONA EYESHADOW PALETTE 10 ($95)

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 10

This is my most expensive splurge and one I’m on the fence about. $95 is a lot to spend on a palette but it does have 10 gorgeous shades that are outside of my comfort zone to some degree. The shades are #56p Pearl (champagne toned shimmer), #06p Anthrazit (charcoal black with a subtle silver shimmer), #47p Dark Sepia (dark chocolate brown with a slight gold shimmer), #02m Blue Space (rich royal blue with a shimmer finish), #27m Slate (vivid purple shimmer), #19m Deep Teal (intense teal shimmer), #25m Aura (cream white with a gold iridescent finish), #13m Raw Gold (deep gold with a bronze undertone), #87m Light Coral (peach shadow with a subtle gold shimmer), #07m Graphite (dark grey with silver shimmer).

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 10

As you can see these are all shimmer shades but the extent of the shimmer is unique to each shade. It’s really not the most practical palette because of all the shimmer. The problem for me isn’t the cost though but the quality of the shades isn’t uniform. Some apply easily while others want to fight with me.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE?  Depends, it got me over my Natasha Denona craving and I didn’t buy the more expensive palettes. I like this but I can’t say I love it. (Swatches from Sephora, mine don’t look like this though)

PRETTY VULGAR NIGHTINGALE EYESHADOW PALETTE ($35)

After falling in love with Pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow palette I was anxious for more. But I’m a pretty staid individual colorwise so I went with the tried and true. Considering I have 357962 nude and brown palettes did I need this? That’s why it’s a splurge, I don’t need it.

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? I’m the wishy washy queen right now because I haven’t decided. I’ve had it for a few weeks and haven’t touched it. Some of the Early Bird shadows are disappointing and I’m worried that I’ll find that here too. What to do?

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette

DIOR METALIZER – METAL CREME SHADOW ($25)

Once I saw the Dior Metalizers reviewed I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Metallics are hot for fall and I’ve always loved metallics in accessories and cosmetics. I chose Bronze Tension – mistake! It’s too dark and doesn’t blend well on me.

Dior Metalizer Cream Shadow in Bronze Tension

I want to like this so badly that I can taste it. I love to start with a cream shadow and use it as a base or to highlight powders. But I picked the wrong shade. I don’t see any metallic on my eyes with this very dark shade. (inject crying emoji here)

Dior Metalizer Cream Shadow in Bronze Tension

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Obviously not which saddens me.

STILA HUGE EXTREME LASH MASCARA ($23)

There’s a story behind buying this mascara. I received a sample size in one of my subscriptions and put it aside for a while. When cleaning to move I find it and tried it. I totally fell in love with it. Wearing Stila Huge was like being granted false eyelashes. You know I couldn’t wait to buy this in spite of having umpteen unopened mascaras.

Stila Huge Extreme Mascara

Stila Huge Extreme Mascara

Well … the tube I bought is a dud. Some days my lashes look totally amazing, other days they are a mushy mess. I’ve determined that the problem is that the opening for the wand is too large which makes too much mascara coming out. There’s none of that satisfying sound you hear when opening a tube. Even cleaning it off doesn’t guarantee that I’ll love my lashes that day.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? With mascara you just never know what you’re going to get. One tube can make angels sing, the next tube can make them cry. This makes my lashes cry 50% of the time.

ARTIS PALM BRUSH ($65)

The Artis Palm Brush is absolutely incredible. My words can not describe how much I love this brush and the Artis Oval 10 brush. Yes expensive, yes worth every cent to me. Here’s a description that explains the Palm Brush: “A brush with a generously sized, rounded oval of fibers to provide coverage to a larger areas of the face and body. It features more than 250,000 fibers. Artis brushes are made exclusively with CosmeFibre, a revolutionary engineered fiber made for applying cosmetic and makeup products.”

Artis Palm Brush

I use this and the Oval 10 for liquid foundation since I can’t believe the softness of the brushes and the airbrushed application.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Without a doubt. Even though I have the Oval 10 which is the same except that the Palm brush doesn’t have a handle, I wanted this and caved. Happy happy.

TARTE SHAPE TAPE aka DOUBLE DUTY BEAUTY SHAPE TAPE CONTOUR CONCEALER ($25)

So I found myself in Ulta without a plan to buy anything and I came across the infamous Tarte Shape Tape. When Shape Tape first came out you couldn’t find it anywhere not even Tarte’s website. That made the hunt more real. The last thing I needed was another concealer.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair Beige

This very fat tube and very fat wand are quite interesting. I’ve always liked the concealers that Tarte makes and this one intrigued me. There are 14 shades to choose from and several that are light enough for me. After much deliberation I chose Fair Beige which I now see is for fair skin with pink undertones. The color choice was right.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair Beige

Ulta explains how to use this as a contour and as a concealer. I mainly use it under my eyes. I rarely start a day with concealer but I do add it if I’m going somewhere later in the day or evening. “Powered by Amazonian clay and conditioning mango seed and shea butters, the nutrient-rich concealer helps promote skin elasticity and illumination with each crease-free application.”

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? At first I didn’t think so but it’s really grown on me. I have a ton of concealers and wondered why I bought another, but I’m glad I did. It doesn’t crease under my eyes and does a good job of covering everything up.

KJAER WEIS CREAM BLUSH – BLOSSOMING ($56)

Now this was a true splurge. I actually had no intention of buying this and then suddenly it was in my cart and on my CC. Hmm. I did no research into this other than knowing that Kjaer Weis was a luxury brand and that the reviews were amazing. But it’s a cream blush and I’m a nut for cream blush.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush

The first thing to know is that this is the heaviest cosmetic I own. It could be used as a weapon. The metal compact is beautiful on my vanity and slides open to display the creamiest of all cream blushes.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

Blossoming is a beautiful light peachy pink shade that is subtle yet shows up perfectly on my fair skin. I’m totally in love with this color.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

Kjaer Weiss blush is – Certified organic – Formulated with Rose Rubiginosa Seed Oil to fight signs of aging – Free from gluten, petroleum, parabens, artificial coloring and fragrance. This comes in 5 shades that all look totally amazing to me. Lovely is on my list for the next time I “need” to splurge.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

This isn’t a cream to powder but it’s not sticky. I apply a light amount of setting powder to my cheeks first and then use my finger to blend the cream on. It melts onto my finger and applies like buttah! It’s infused with Castor Seed and Jojoba Oils to help strengthen and nourish the skin and has a Beeswax base that’s well-suited to all complexions.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Yes yes and yes again. I love it and when I can afford it I’ll purchase another.

3 more to make sure my eyes score: EndureLash, Borghese, and My Fair Lashes

Last week I shared 3 of the eye products that I’m using that knock it out of the ballpark and today I have 3 more that finish the job so I can win the game. Today’s picks are Endure Lash Organic Eyelash Cloths, Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask and My Fair Lashes mascara. Two of the three are going to be new brands for you to learn about and that’s why I’m here!!

Endure Lash Organic Eyelash Cloths, Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Masks, My Fair Lashes mascara

First I need to wear an eye mask which is one of my very favorite things to do. The Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Masks are ones that are treats for my eyes. These are a brightening and hydrating treatment for the eyes. And they feel as good on as they sound.

Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask

These can be used any time of the day or evening but I love them before I apply makeup because they make my undereye area look well rested. Directions for use are so simple: Cleanse skin and pat dry. Remove the clear protective film, place the hydrogel eye mask under the eye and discard the white protective sheet. Relax and leave mask on for 5-15 minutes. Remove each mask and gently massage excess product into the skin. Use 1-2 times per week.

Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask

Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask

These hydrogel masks feel light as air, are completely comfortable, don’t slip down, and make me feel great. And the single packets are easy to pack up for a journey. The key ingredients show why these are a home run:

  • Acai Fruit Extract and Avocado Fruit Extract: help firm and soothe skin
  • Arnica Montana Fruit Extract: helps refine skin texture
  • Hyaluronic Acid: builds a moisture barrier and prevents moisture loss
  • Caffeine: boosts skin elasticity
  • Pomegranate Fruit Extract and Olive Fruit Oil: conditions and revives skin’s vibrancy

Now I’m going to apply mascara and I have a new one that I’ve been using: My Fair Lashes mascara from Velvet 59. This is totally unique in so many ways that we can appreciate.

Most important is that this is a vegan mascara. It took Velvet 59’s Paris Manning two years to perfect this mascara. All Velvet 59 products are cruelty free too.

My Fair Lashes mascara

My Fair Lashes is smudge proof, flake proof and quick-drying. It’s a deep black that is great for length and definition. The wand is very unique. It has a flat edge and a flat ball tip. (That’s an oxymoron if I ever heard one.)

My Fair Lashes mascara

My Fair Lashes mascara

Directions say to wipe off the excess product and then on your top lashes apply in zig-zag motions. When you get to your bottom lashes use the tip of the wand with the flat side closest to your face. This way you are apply it to get the most out of your bottom lashes and the inner corners. “The My Fair Lashes wand has a flat side which can be tipped and tilted to reach even the smallest, hardest to reach lashes.”

My Fair Lashes mascara

The first few days I used the mascara I wasn’t so sure if this was a good one for my eyes but now that I’ve been using it for several weeks I’m happy with it. I get a little volume from two coats while it makes my lashes appear longer and well defined.  So far I haven’t had to use an eyelash comb either. It doesn’t smudge when I apply it on my bottom lashes (nor the top) which is rare for me. It’s the reason I barely use mascara there but My Fair Lashes changes that for me.

Days over and it’s time to wash up. That’s where ENDURE LASH ORGANIC EYELASH CLOTHS come into play. These cloths were originally made for eyelash extensions but I’ve never had extensions and I’m finding EndureLash to be wonderful for removal of mascara. All you need is warm water and the cloth!

EndureLash Organic Eyelash Cloths

There are 2 different cloths or you can buy the combo pack. The Eye Makeup Organic Drying Cloth in the combo pack is 8″x8″ and is made of 60% organic bamboo viscose, 30% organic cotton, and 10% spandex ponte. This is the one you want if you have extensions since it doesn’t budge them nor snag on them. You’ll get fewer lost lashes between fills.

EndureLash Organic Drying Cloth

I throw this in the laundry with my dark load so it saves me money on buying cotton pads and eye makeup remover.

EndureLash Organic Eye Makeup Removal Cloth

The smaller cloth is the Organic Eye Makeup Removal Cloth and this works like magic for me. I use warm water, apply it to my eyes without rubbing and voila my mascara is gone. Really truly gone. I know it’s on the cloth but I don’t see it and there’s nothing that remains on my face. I’ve used this with 3 mascaras just to prove it works as great as I thought. The Eddie Funkhouser mascara coats lashes so you’ll see that on your face but it washes off with warm water too.

EndureLash Organic Eye Makeup Removal Cloth in bag

It comes with a mesh bag for storage and laundry. Put it in the bag and run it through with your washload. Now this doesn’t remove my shadows unless I use a very natural look so I do have to use eye makeup remover or a micellar water to do that. But the Organic Drying Cloth does get off my other eye makeup better. I can tell you right now that this mesh bag and removal cloth are coming on my next vacation.

I’ve rounded the bases with these three products and the ones from last week and my eyes are the ones that are winning. I’ve found some products that work great for me and that I’m sure will work as wonderfully for you. —  Marcia

What’s in my summer tote? Marvis, Soap and Paper, Good Earth Beauty, and Eddie Funkhouser

This summer I have been on more mini-vacations than ever!  So I’ve become really, really good at throwing together a quick overnight bag or a one day travel tote bag, whether I’m off the beach or off for an 8 hour car ride to pick up my daughter from camp. Here are four (or five, depending on how you want to count them!) items that are always in my summer tote.

Marvis Aquatic Mint Toothpaste

I have been a big fan of Marvis Toothpaste for years and years and I love the travel size ($6) tube! Lately I’ve been digging the Aquatic Mint flavor and I also love Jasmine Mint, the tube I recently finished. There are lots of cool flavors available and let’s face it…the packaging is so awesome, anyone pillaging your tote for lip balm is going to be impressed with how hip you are!

Soap and Paper Green Tea Shea Hand Cream

Soap and Paper Jasmine Shea Hand Cream

Soap and Paper Shea Hand Cream

Any bag I pack always has hand cream in it and Soap and Paper has the best hand cream in a perfect travel size. The Petite Shea Hand Cream ($9, 1 oz.) is thick and rich, with an elegant shea-based formula that totally soothes dry skin. It’s velvety goodness. The Green Tea scent is natural and clean and the Jasmine scent is dreamy and intoxicating. I can’t decide which is my favorite so I just pack both.

Good Earth Beauty Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume

Good Earth Beauty Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume

I love to have a refreshing fragrance at my fingertips and Good Earth Beauty has a perfect option – the rollerball Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume ($21). This is a gorgeous scent – light, refreshing, fresh as a summer’s day. The scent is an intoxicating combination of citrusy white grapefruit, tangerine, sweet orange, and mimosa. There isn’t any alcohol or water in this perfume, it’s straight up essential oils, so you only need a tiny amount to smell spectacular all day long. Love this, and you need it in your tote ASAP. Oh, it’s also vegan, organic, cruelty free and gluten-free.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

A simple swipe of mascara can take me from looking sickly to looking fantastic in three seconds, particularly with Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara ($13). One tube of mascara gives four different finishes, from natural to major drama.  I might do a quick swipe of #2 for a day look, and then later on add a coat of #4 for big, thick lashes.  What I love is this mascara never smudges or smears, regardless of the temperature or humidity.  It’s a perfect mascara to have in your summer tote!

I have a few more items in my summer tote, but these four (or five, since I can’t choose between the Jasmine and Green Tea Soap and Paper Hand Cream scents!) are constants. What are some of your must haves in your summer tote? – Lisa

Eyeko is making us EYEMAZING in today’s Side by Side!

samplesaffiliate links

Eyeko was probably the first brand to make us think about having a ‘wardrobe’ of eye products. We used to think one mascara worked for every occasion – but sometimes we just need defined lashes. Sometimes we want a little more drama. Sometimes we want drama the level of a highlight reel from COPS. The same for brows and of course for eyeshadow – just one product doesn’t cut it. Basically, we love lots of options when choosing what products to wear and Eyeko has given us some excellent goodies to play with!

Lisa’s eyes are wearing Tinted Brow Gel, Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner, and Lash Alert Mascara Wake Up and Go:

It’s been super hot this summer and I have been wishing for a great brow gel to take the place of my brow wax. I have nice brows but they need a little extra color boost and they definitely need some help staying in place. They tend to droop and look shaggy.  I absolutely love the Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel ($24)!

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel

Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel swatch

It has a shorter, fatter spoolie, and the gel is tinted. It’s a medium brown with just a hint of shimmer in it. The spoolie really grabs the hairs and puts them in place, and the tint is perfect. It gives the right amount of color and a touch of brightness which opens the eye area. I love this!!

  • Tinted Gel
  • With vitamins, antioxidants, Keratin, Ginkgo Biloba and botanical proteins to promote growth
  • Natural, long-lasting hold without flaking or stiffness

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

The Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner ($22) is a great liquid eyeliner – it was inspired by calligraphy brushes – that goes on like a thin magic marker. It creates a very thin, precise line like a liquid liner, but without the mess. You can have shaky pre-coffee morning hands and still end up with a gorgeous line. This is especially good for cats eye looks, as well as very precise thick lines.

  • Contains Widelash with a tripeptide boost to promote lash growth for up to 3x more length and volume in 15 days
  • Japanese precision brush tip for single stroke colour
  • Waterproof, long-wear, fade-proof
  • Carbon Black

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Lash Alert Mascara Wake Up and Go ($26) is a fantastic mascara – this is a must have! The curved brush is excellent for picking up every single lash. It does take several coats to get the full effect, but three coats gives lots of drama that doesn’t smudge, flake, or smear. It thickens up lashes beautifully with fibers and gives tons of volume and definition. It also washes off easily, which is a big plus. I love this mascara and it’s been a heavy hitter in my mascara rotation!

  • Shea Butter to nourish
  • Caffeine to stimulate
  • Arginine to repair
  • Biotinoyl Tripepetide to regenerate
  • Biotin to thicken
  • Full contact helix brush to curl and volumise
  • Carbon Black
  • Award-winning Korean technology
  • Water-resistant tubing formula
  • Zero-waste squeezy tube
  • No running, smudging, crumbling or flaking
  • Paraben-free
  • Cruelty-free
  • Locks in colour and hold for 12hr+

Eyeko Black Magic Liner, Lash Alert Mascara, and Tinted Brow Gel

Marcia’s eyes are wearing Making Eyes 3 in 1 Brush, Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Eyeliner in Topaz, Charcoal, and Bronze:

Eyeko Me & My Shadow Liners and 3-in-1 Brush

Anyone that knows my taste knows I’m a huge fan of cream eyeshadows so the shadow eyeliners from Eyeko are a big hit for me. I have 3 of the 6 shades available (Topaz, Quartz, Taupe, Chocolate, Bronze, and Charcoal) and will need to be at least one more to get myself through the summer. Taupe is calling to me right now and it’s one of the shades that Ulta carries!

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in Topaz, Bronze, and Charcoal

While I will adore the Eyeko Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Eyeliners all year it’s in summer that these really make their mark. They are truly waterproof. These last all day and night until you remove them with eye makeup remover. Water doesn’t take off the color unless you scrub and scrub which you don’t want to do. Putting some remover on a cotton pad removes them so that tomorrow you can try a new combination. To test out these shadow liners I’ve used eyeshadow primer on one eye and left my skin alone on the other. There’s no creasing or fading either way so that saves a step.

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in Charcoal, Bronze, and Topaz

Topaz is a champagne shade that is on the verge of being metallic. It brightens my eyes whether I wear it on the lid or on my browbone. I crave this type of color so it’s #1 with me. Bronze is a bright shade that plays so nicely with my brown eyes. It seems to bring out my eye color. The blending of these is amazing since they are soft and silky. Charcoal can be worn sooty or you can blend it down to a softer gray and that’s where the beauty lies. It has teeny bits of sparkle that don’t travel but livens up your smokey eye look.

Eyeko Me & My Shadow Brush

What makes the Eyeko eyeshadow crayons stand out from the crowd is the brush on the opposite end. It is a great tool to blend these out or to smoke the colors out. The brush makes these liners so much more versatile and a great travel companion.

Eyeko Making Eyes 3-in-1 Brush

I am totally blown away with the Eyeko Making Eyes 3-IN-1 Brush. This is the best travel tool I’ve found in all my searching. Brushes are my thing and I never travel without favorites but Eyeko is going to replace that huge brush set in its compactness. I am loving not only the simplicity of this tool but the way it works. “Travel-friendly packaging ensures each brush is covered and hygienically capped to keep your makeup bag pristine.”

Measuring almost 6 inches long there are 3 brushes and all work beautifully. For the eyeliner brush you just pull out and there’s a nicely angled brush that works well with gel liner as well as the shadow liners. Pull off the the first cap and there’s a rounded blending brush that does its job like a pro. One more pull and you’ll find the define brush that reminds me of the MAC 242 that I use constantly. But this gives me everything I need for only $20. I can’t tell you how great I think this is. There aren’t enough words!

It’s pretty obvious that both of us are thrilled with our Eyeko treasures but what we didn’t tell you yet is about the brand. “Created by beauty veterans Max and Nina Leykind, their mascaras and liners are favored by celebs and hotshot make-up artists alike. With style icon Alexa Chung on board as Creative Consultant – she credits them with creating her favorite look – Eyeko give the definitive edit for eyes.” You can find Eyeko at Ulta as well as their own website (free shipping) and it’s a brand well worth seeking out.

3 summer beauty favorites from Pretty Vulgar, Eddie Funkhouser, and Nars

Did you ever get obsessed with something you bought? Do you have a large cosmetic collection yet ignore everything in it because you just can’t get enough of some products? That’s describing me and my summer beauty favorites these days.

Summer beauty love from Pretty Vulgar, Eddie Funkhouser, and Nars

As soon as Nars introduced their Liquid Blush I knew I had to have it. I was on a “no buy” and had promised not to buy anything before I moved … but the minute I moved, all bets were off. I needed Nars Orgasm Liquid Blush in my life. Having a $15 off $50 code from Sephora helped but it made me add something to my order. On a whim I ordered Pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow Palette. I hadn’t seen one thing about this but I had heard of the brand. BEST MOVE EVAH!!

I’m in love with this. I have worn it every day since it arrived and I’m nowhere near to moving on to something else. I find new combinations of this every day. I can’t get enough of it.

There are 12 shades in this palette (which I didn’t swatch – so sorry) and I’ve used each and every one over and over.

Here’s my color interpretation:

TWEET: Very soft pink that seems a little powdery compared to the others. But using a light hand with it makes it a great browbone shade.

WINK: This is a peachy pink that I like on the browbone or lid. It also makes a good transition shade. I wear it on my lid and notice just a tiny bit of shimmer.

CHIRP: LOVE!!!! If you are into rose gold you will love this metallic shade. It’s the star of the palette in and on my eyes.

RISE: Rise is a matte pinky brown. It’s not an unusual shade but it works well with the other colors in the palette.

SHINE: Very pretty golden brown (pink undertones) with a nice sheen to it.

RUFFLED: This shade shocked me. When I opened the palette I figured I couldn’t wear it. It looked so shimmery to me. But I gave it a chance and now I can’t get enough of it. It’s a pinky lavender with shimmer that is much more visible in the pan than on my eye. I have no glitter fall out from it and it seems to brighten my look whenever I wear it.

UNRUFFLED: This is Ruffled once off steroids. It’s the matte version and it applies very smoothly. It looks great with the darker brown shades in the palette.

Pretty Vulgar Early Bird

NEST EGG: a soft matte brown with a neutral base.

TRUE COLORS: This is another favorite from the palette. It has some shimmer but it translates into a metallic shade. It’s a pinky mauve that gives my eyes a purple look. I haven’t been wearing much in the way of purple shadows but this lighter tone is close to perfection for me.

VICTORY: A matte chocolate brown, think of a Hershey’s square. It goes on smoothly with basically no fallout when applying it.

CONQUER: I can’t get enough of Conquer. I want to wear it daily. It’s a rich goden bronze with an almost metallic finish and very light shimmer. It gives me the oomph I want.

UNVEIL: This is the least used shade for me. Since Victory is in the palette I feel that this slightly darker matte brown is redundant. I’d have preferred another peachy shade instead of Unveil.

After I bought this I read the review that Temptalia wrote about Early Bird, and I wondered if we had the same palette. She doesn’t have a high opinion of this yet I find it a perfect way to get away from my typical taupes and browns. It’s got enough soft colors in it to make it a summertime pleasure and enough darker ones to add drama and style.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

When you have eyeshadows that make you look forward to waking up then you need a mascara that matches that quality and that’s where Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara comes in. I’ve bought this mascara numerous times but my dear Eddie seemed to fall off the ends of the earth for a while. He’s back and he’s made me so happy. I’ve got some of his lip products coming up soon to share but for now let me write about my love for this mascara.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

This totally unique mascara gives you every look you can dream of. Depending on where you dial you can get 4 finishes from natural to va-va-voom. I typically apply two coats on #2 or 1 coat on #2 and 1 coat on #3. I get amazing definition, lots of volume, and happily some length. Eddie Funkhouser’s mascara has never smudged on me and lasts the entire day and evening without a problem. It coats your lashes, almost like a tubing mascara but not exactly. Sometimes when removing it I’ll find flakes of mascara but that’s only during removal. This $12.95 mascara is the best ever. And right now you can buy one and get one free! To celebrate Eddie Funkhouser’s birthday he’s having a BOGO sale. You’ll want two for sure!

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

What started my obsession is this blush. Once I saw it I knew I needed it. I’m glad I bought Nars Liquid Blush in Orgasm when I did since right now most of the cosmetic world is upset with Nars for changing their cruelty-free status.

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

I never could wear this blush in the powder form, it just didn’t look right on me. But this pinky peach liquid with a touch of shimmer is gorgeous in the liquid form. I’ve always liked cream and liquid blushes and this has become my favorite.

NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm

While it’s not the longest lasting blush it gives me hours worth of pleasure. If I have to touch it up I’ll often use a powder blush over it. The only caveat is that you need such a tiny amount and the pump gets out much more than you need. I pump out as small a portion as possible, apply with a cotton bud in dots on my cheeks, then blend with my fingers. It plays well with highlighters too like Model’s Own Golden Sands.

What are your summer favorites? I highly recommend mine and am thrilled to say they are gracing my face every day.  —  Marcia
