I finished things! Amazing empties for March and April

It seems so rare for me to finish anything up completely other than a few staples but the last two months I actually did finish things and I’m ready for the dumpster with these. Until then see what got used up and what I think of these goodies.

March and April 2017 empties

March and April 2017 empties

Before I begin I must admit that I already threw away oodles and oodles of products. As I’m cleaning and packing I found so many that were started but never finished so I only kept the ones I really loved and tried to use those as much as possible. What you aren’t seeing is the trash that my neighborhood has seen!

Let me start with some staple items that I go through every single month and will continue to do so.

Q-tips and DHC Silky Cotton Squares

Q-tips and DHC Silky Cotton Squares

Costco knows me and my habits I’m sure. I buy these double packs of Q-Tips all the time. I use a lot of them in my life so buy stock in the company! I also have gone an unimaginable amount of DHC Silky Cotton Squares. I usually buy 6 at a time and they’ll last me for about 7 months. I noticed though that my last batch isn’t quite as soft as before so now I’m questioning whether they changed them. Anyone know?

Viviscal

Viviscal

I’m on auto-delivery from Amazon for these Viviscal Hair Supplements. I am on a maintenance dose and just take 1 per day rather than 2. I’ve mentioned many times about my hair growth problems and these help me a lot.

Bioderma Micellar Water, Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water, Simple Micellar Wipes

Bioderma Micellar Water, Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water, Simple Micellar Wipes

It’s obvious that I love Micellar Waters from this picture! I have a stash of Bioderma Sensibio H2O and made a point of finishing up the 500 ml and 100 ml bottles before I move. I have 1 more of each in my cupboard but won’t start those just yet. I did pick up a Garnier Micellar during a sale not long ago but that’s already packed and I also like Simple Micellar Water though I’ve noticed a slight fragrance with it. Simple Micellar Wipes are definitely my favorite wipes though. This is just a sample pack but I have a full size pack in use.

Dr. Brandt XYY Dual Fusion Water is one that I really enjoyed using but it is more expensive than these others. It feels more substantial though and it did a great job of cleansing.

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap, Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap, Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

I couldn’t begin to count how many Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Removers I’ve gone through since my first one. No matter how many others I try this is the one product that works for me time and again. I’ve already repurchased this and will again as soon as I move.

Eclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap in Vanilla & Sweet Orange is a great natural soap that’s not drying. I’m stocked up on JR Watkins at the moment but I’ll repurchase this next.

Now for the fun stuff!

Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask

Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask

I’m not used to saving empties so in the past I never had them around. I purposely saved the packaging of Miss Spa Oxygenating Bubble Mask and 24K Gold Creme Mask since I totally love them. The 24K Gold Creme Mask is one I want to marry. The Oxygenating Bubble Mask was a fun bubbly alternative. I got three uses out of each package so it’s a bargain buy. I will definitely buy more after I test more of the Miss Spa masks I have.

Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Antioxidant Serum, Hydroskin, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Antioxidant Serum, Hydroskin, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

I think I finished up Reviva Labs Vitamin C+ Serum but there might be a little left. Nothing pumps out anymore and I only see a drop inside. Reviva Labs is a favorite brand and this is a good example of why I like them. Very efficient and the price is great.

Hydroskin Skincare is a set I reviewed last month. I finished up all 4 of these products which is unusual for me but I dedicated myself to one solid month of just this line. I liked the way my skin looked with it. I still have 2 masks from them to use and review.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum is ab fab! Not only do I love this anti-aging serum but I bought a new one before I was finished with the current one. This is my favorite skincare item from IT Cosmetics. I wish the price was less but I’ll continue buying and using this. I’m in love!

It’s a given that any time I would share an empty post that I’d have mascara. This time though I saved them after determining what needed to go before the big move. I found a lot of deluxe sample sizes and used them until dry or I didn’t care for them anymore.

In no particular order:

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara  –  always a favorite, I have another mini and a full size one still

Marc Jacobs Volume Mascara– while I liked the sample size from a kit I had bought I didn’t care for the full size one I had bought so it’s not to be purchased again.

Le Volume de Chanel  –  Love this even if this was tiny. I would buy it if I was flush.

2 more minis I forgot to picture: Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara which I loved and plan to buy one day soon. Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes, another dilemma since the sample was great but I wasn’t thrilled when I had it in full size.

Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum – love, love, love this. It’s a perfect brown liquid eyeliner. This is the second one I’ve finished and I’m using my third. There will be a 4th and 5th for sure.

Smashbox Brow Tech To Go – while I didn’t use up the gel side I did use up every bit of the brow crayon side. It’s a very handy item but I just don’t need another right now.

IT Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Eyeliner in Black is one I enjoyed until it decided to break so I couldn’t use it anymore. I like these liners in general though and turn to them often when I want a pencil eyeliner.

A 3x use sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance that was in my stash. I always have TFSI in my collection!

And one toss:

Z Palette

Z Palette

I got a few years worth of use from this but then it self-destroyed. It came apart and no longer is of use. I have others plus Z Palette is out of favor right now.

So there you have it. My empties, many of which are old standbys and a new love (Stila Huge Mascara) all wrapped up in my recycling bin for now.

What have you used up? —  Marcia

Top Ten Tuesday – Limited Edition 2014 wishlist

Beautysets - Top Ten Limited Edition 2014
TOP TEN TUESDAY is talking Limited Edition items for 2014. I’ve chosen 6 LE items that are within my reach monetarily but I’ve also chosen 4 that are in the stratosphere. But it’s called a WISHLIST for a reason – I can wish, I can dream, I don’t expect to own those 4 items though. Here we go with Marcia’s current LE wishlist. More will come soon in another article.
1414955675_2279336__detail_?1414955675BAREMINERALS THE MAGIC ACT is the most reasonably priced of all the items I’m sharing. It’s not LE in the same sense as some of these since it will be found for the next few months I’m sure. It contains 6 eyeshadows: Celebrate (yellow cream)  + Fortune (pink champagne) + Shazam (shimmering pink) + A-ha (brown sugar) + Pumped (cocoa sparkle) + Foreshadow (brown truffle) and 3 blushes: The Close Call, The Natural High & The Indecent Proposal (bronze taupe/golden petal peach/dusty plum) plus one luminizer The Premiere. What a great set for $39!!
1414955273__9456755CHANTECAILLE 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EYESHADOW PALETTE is one I’d love to own but knowing me I’d probably just stare at it and never use it. This palette donates money towards 3 wildlife charities to help product these creatures. Elephant is a deep aubergine, Butterfly is a warm vanilla and Sea Turtle is copper with rose-gold glimmer. At $68 it’s expensive but not outrageous.
1414954872_nmc1p32_mkTOM FORD LIMITED EDITION LIP AND NAIL BOX pricewise is out of my comfort zone and I know not everything would be used. But if someone has $500 that they wish to shell out for fabulous lipsticks and nail polishes, call me! Lip Colors are Pink Dusk, Spanish Pink, Bruised Plum, Nude Vanilla, Casablanca, Indian Rose, True Coral and Cherry Lush. Nail colors are Toasted Sugar, Mink Brule, Bordeaux Lust, Smoke Red, Carnal Red, Pink Crush, Viper and Fever Pink.

1414954614_s1644905-main-hero-300URBAN DECAY NAKED VAULT has everything that a woman could want if naked/nude shades are your thing. It’s $280 and is sold out at Sephora but it’s still something that is droolworthy. It contains all 3 of the Naked eyeshadow palettes, 3 NakedFlush (blush) palettes, 3 lip glosses and 3 double ended eye pencils.
1414954211_s1642388-main-hero-300LAURA MERCIER BLUSH AND EYE PALETTE is great if you don’t have these classic Laura Mercier eyeshadows. Some of her top shades are in here along with a Rose Gold Shimmer blush. Eyeshadow are Vanilla Nuts, Stone Taupe, Pewter, Deep Night, Topaz, Morning Dew, Cashmere, and Crystal Beige. At $58 it’s a great Laura Mercier wardrobe staple.
1414954073_guerlain-petrouchka-palette-for-eyes-and-cheeks-2GUERLAIN PETROUCHKA PALETTE ($90) is two layers of gorgeousness. My picture shows the eyeshadows because I’m an eyeshadow fanatic. The other layer is blush and highlighters. I found this on Makeup and Beauty Blog and her swatches make me want to run out shopping.
1414953846_0607845038566NARS always captivates me so I have two items to share. This is the reasonably priced ROMAN HOLIDAY SET which contains Roman Holiday Lipstick, a mini Roman Holiday Blush (limited edition) and a Limited Edition Roman Holiday Nail Polish all in this adorable box. This is $49 on Nars’ website and would make a pink lover very happy.1414953738_0607845038399NARS VAULT on the other hand is $500 and would make someone swoon upon opening it. 10 of their new Audacious lipsticks and 10 Nail Polishes = OMG! Lipsticks are Raquel, Anita, Jane, Claudia, Michiyo, Grace, Lana, Carmen, Vivien, Sandra and Nail Polishes are Ecume, Ithaque, Orgasm, Trouville, Schiap, Hunger, Dovima, Jungle Red, Purple Rain, Back Room. YUM.

1414954367_s1630664-main-hero-300Last but not least is MARC JACOBS BEAUTY and their new eyeshadow palette. I always seem to have Marc Jacobs Beauty on my wishlists. This new LE palette is named Parisienne ($59) and has 7 eyeshadows in deep blue-gray pearl, metallic royal blue, pale blue pearl with silver shimmer, cool matte beige, matte vanilla crème, bronzed espresso sheen, matte burgundy with iridescent glitter. If you love a cool eye then this is going to be a winner.I’m sure my other Top Ten friends will include items I never knew about and will soon want so why don’t you check them out too. In the meantime, which of these would make your own wishlist?? — Marcia

Top Ten Tuesday picks favorite colored eyeliners

It’s so nice to be back online and able to write a TOP TEN TUESDAY review. This week is especially fun since it’s about eyeliners and I can’t live without my eyeliner when I’m doing my makeup. There were two hard things for me with this week’s challenge – 1) I can’t get upstairs to take pictures so I left out some favorite brands like Urban Decay and 2) we aren’t “allowed” to include black or brown which is what I wear most days. But I am rising to the challenge and picking out my favorite colored liners.

1.  MAKEUP GEEK GEL LINERS – These are absolutely wonderful gel liners that I can’t recommend highly enough. The price tag of $8.99 makes these a steal because they are so long lasting and wear better than most gel eyeliners. I especially love Rave shown below because it’s a fabulous taupe. If you read the linked review you’ll see Electric, Mystic and Fame that are must haves if you love beautiful colors in gel eyeliners. *

2.  TARTE smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liners  I can’t rave enough about tarte’s eyeliners. They make a variety of colors and styles. The two shown in the collage are Taupe and Rose Gold. Tarte comes out with new colors all the time and the best time to buy them is when they are part of a set, you’ll get shades you didn’t know you would fall in love with and at a great price. *

3. CAILYN LINEFIX GEL LINERS – I have a slew of these because they make shades that aren’t easily available from every line. These are $21 retail but I’ve yet to pay that. I’ve gotten them in subscription boxes and found them for less online. The collage shows black but the review shows the gorgeous green, blue and purple available.

4. PIXI BEAUTY ENDLESS SILKY EYE PENCILS – If you are seeking colored eyeliner pencils you can’t go wrong with Pixi Beauty. These are amazing. I have the set shown which contains Black Noir, Deep Plum, Black Cocoa, Sage Gold and Oyster Glow as well as singles like Cafe Gold. These glide on and are truly silky. The set is $18 so you get a nice variety but once you try it you’ll go on to buy the singles for $12 too.

5. MARC JACOBS BEAUTY HIGHLINER GEL CRAYONS – No I don’t have this set (yet) but it’s amazing and I want it. I do have individual colors of the Highliner Gel Crayons and they are something to aspire owning. These are so smooth and the colors are fabulous. This set is $45 and contains  O(vert) (forest green), Brown(out) (bronze with shimmer), Th(ink) (deep navy), (Plum)age (vivid purple), Blacquer (black), Sunset (golden bronze shimmer), Midnight in Paris (inky indigo blue). I have full sizes of Blacquer, Th(ink) and (Plum)age and those are $25 each so you can see what a gem this limited edition set is.

6. YOUNGBLOOD EYE-MAZING LIQUID EYE PENS – My favorite liquid eyeliners when it comes to colors out of the ordinary. There are 5 shades all together and I use the black and brown (marron) all the time but the other 3 are gems. Verde is an amazing green and Azul is the most unusual blue – it is not navy as you can see. I highly recommend these liquid liners and never want to be without Marron.

7.  TARINA TARANTINO HYPERLINER – The one shown is Ultra Violet and it’s a fabulous shade as well as a fabulous pencil eyeliner. Besides being beautifully pigmented, it’s long lasting. The secret to this is to watch Hautelook for sales on Tarina Tarantino since the products are so well priced. I’ve bought most of my TT products this way.

8. IT COSMETICS NO TUG WATERPROOF GEL EYELINER PENCILS – All 10 shades are shown in our review of these gel eyeliner pencils so you can see what beauties they are. IT Cosmetics continues to be one of my favorite lines and these beautiful eyeliners keep up the tradition.  These are my 5 and I am especially fond of Lucky Jade, Navy and Silk Taupe. It’s nice to have a navy that isn’t black so that makes it special. Plum (check review) is an especially pretty shade. *

The numbers stop at 8 but there are probably 2 dozen colored liners in here that I love. While black and brown may rule the day, colored liners should rule the night! Any that you love to recommend?

Favorite eyeshadow palettes for Makeup Wars

This week Makeup Wars is focusing on favorite eyeshadow palettes. My favorite item to buy is a new eyeshadow palette. I’d spend my last pennies (or actually $$) on them. Being out of commission for the last two months hasn’t slowed me down when it comes to my love of them. In today’s article I’ve listed two wishlist items and four that I’ve bought. There are a lot more wishlist items I have but these 2 are the ones that I’m honing in on now.  – Marcia
1413133672_s1644848-main-hero-300URBAN DECAY VICE 3 is a wishlist item even though I’ve barely gotten use out of my Vice 2 palette. There’s just something about Urban Decay that seems to call me even though I ignored the brand for years. I can’t use every shade they create since many are too sparkly for me and some are out of my comfort zone but there’s so many shades that I’m eager to use that this is worth $60 easily.
1413133581_coseyeshdow7_lolta_main_w_800_img404_noimagemedium?1413133581MARC JACOBS STYLE EYE CON IN LOLITA is one I bought from Sephora and enjoy using. Yes it’s a typical nude palette but there’s something about Marc Jacobs Beauty that draws me in. I enjoy the luxury of taking it out of my organizer and applying it.
1413133241_27635-150ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE, RAW GARDEN EYE SHADOW PALETTE IN COSMOS is a limited edition that I am drooling over. Rouge Bunny Rouge shadows are more subtle than most of the choices I make and I have a feeling that this will be that way too. But I tend to use my RBR shadows very often for daily use. They aren’t too sparkly and they apply like silk.
1413132962_lorac-pro-palette-2LORAC PRO 2 is my newest palette and I’ve only had a chance to use it once. I received it, fell a few days later and have been laid up since. I already have the original Pro palette (below) so I know that this is a great addition to the shades in it. There are usually some sparkly shades in Lorac so I tend to ignore those but the ones I use are what drew me to adding another Lorac palette to my life.
1413132914_lorac-pro-paletteLORAC PRO is one of the palettes I get the most use out of. I believe this palette is what brought LORAC back into favor with beautynistas. Every list I saw in the last year included this as a favorite and after buying it, I know why. The shadows apply beautifully, wear well and don’t fade. Plus the colors are great for everyday and for special occasions. It comes with their great eyeshadow primer too which makes them wear even better.
1413132798_web_chocolatebar_openTOO FACED CHOCOLATE BAR PALETTE is my favorite of the 4 palettes I own from this list. I resisted buying it because I’m not a fan of fragrance and this smells chocolatey. But the scent is subtle – just enough to make you notice it, not enough to make others notice it. The colors are fabulous and I wish I had swatches for you. There are a couple of the more golden shades that I tend to wear more than others but I’ve yet to try a shade I haven’t liked. I love that there are two different larger base shades so you can start with a neutral or slightly cool base. This is a winner in my book. $49 well spent.
Do you own any of these palettes?

My tax refund beauty wishlist and a way for you to win $100

Is there anything more dreaded than Tax Season? It feels punishing to me in many ways. First it takes me forever to find every item and receipt that could be used for deductions. I guess my disorganization shows every March. Then I’m worried about what I use, aka “is it legit”. The last thing I need is a letter from the IRS to make my life a disaster. My husband takes everything to our tax advisor since it can get a little complicated and I wait to answer the questions that inevitably come. A few years ago he came home totally dejected because we owed big time. This year we’ll get a refund since we don’t want to repeat that disaster. It helps to go to Tax Season Deals to learn ways you can help save a little money on getting your taxes done. Which all leads to what can I do to celebrate and spend some of that tax refund. The answer is that I’m a blogger who loves cosmetics so don’t you think a little splurge is due? Not too big because I also want a new purse from Shopbop so I can fill it with all my goodies. My little rather large shopping wishlist is from Sephora and a few other sites. I seriously go to Coupons. com to find the codes for freebies whenever I order. For example right now Sephora has codes for a free radiant orchid makeup bag or a cosmetic mask and more will be added this month. Here’s my Tax Season Refund Wishlist as of April 1, 2014.

1. Sephora + Pantone Universe The Eye: Radiant Femme Artistry Set – 25 eyeshadows from Sephora + Pantone Universe only set my heart racing. The color of the year, Radiant Orchid, dominates the set and each of the 6 quads would work with it. This could be nothing but fun for spring and summer.
2. and 3. Nars brushes – #9 Diffusing Brush and #10 Blending Brush – I love brushes and these two would surely make me more beautiful than ever. These are high up on my wish list even though, admittedly, I don’t need them. But then again what do I need?
4. Marc Jacobs Beauty eyeshadow trio in The Punk – I constantly put these on my wishlists but so far haven’t bought more. (Not to say that I don’t have a few in my stash.) This one has that whole Radiant Orchid thing going which makes it more appealing.
5. NARS Matte Multiple in either Exumas (pink apricot) or Anguilla (ginger pink). I want to see and test these first but the reviews are appealing.
6. Make Up For Ever HD Second Skin Cream Blush – yes I reviewed three of these but I’m sure I need at least one more. #410 Coral is supposed to be the most universal shade. Don’t you think I should look at it??
7. Bite Beauty Lipstick in either Quinta (rosy pink), Vouvray (ballet pink) or Musk (pink brown). I need to see these in person to decide on the color and I hope I only walk away with one!
8. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – this is the mascara that absolutely every blogger in our Top Ten Mascara post raved about, except me that is. Therefore this is a necessity to buy!
9. and 10.  butter LONDON’s new LOLLY BRIGHTS collection – I want them all but after Polish Insomniac showed these I totally fell in love with Stroppy and Jammy. I had promised myself no more nail polish but I’m too weak to resist colors like this. I can’t wait until they are available.
11. SUPERGOOP CITY SUNSCREEN SERUM – this is great stuff and I want one for this summer. At $42 it’s expensive for a sunscreen but my skin loves this and there is no fragrance!
12. ARDENCY INN CUSTOM COVER CONCENTRATE – My Newest Addiction blogged about this creating a lemming for it. You mix this with your moisturizer (or with the Supergoop above) and create your own foundation. Sounds so perfect for summer.
13. FOREO LUNA – This is a cheat since I own this. But if I didn’t it would definitely be on my wishlist and probably should be on yours. I love this for cleansing since it’s gentle, effective and relaxing at the same time. It’s $199 so it’s a splurge but if you get the right tax refund this is a great way to spend it.
So now that you’ve seen my wishlist, it’s time for you to enter the Coupons. com giveaways. There are two of them. One is directly from Coupons. com and can be found on this link. Top Ten Tuesday – it’s Radiant Orchid time

Top Ten Tuesday is back and this time we’ll be all over the world of color since we’ve picked our favorite Radiant Orchid products. As you know by now, Sephora and Pantone announce a color of the year and for 2014 they’ve chosen Radiant Orchid. Bloggers have been going bananas with choices and it’s all over the place. You’ll find interpretations of this color from light to dark. The good thing though is that we can pick and choose. My Daily Look Beauty Set above shows 4 products that I love and own. I bought them all because they called my name as “orchid” shades I’d wear.
1. I LOVE NAIL POLISH IN MOLLY – ILNP doesn’t call this a Radiant Orchid but as I stared at it for 7 days, drooling over the gorgeousness of the shade, I felt it rang in on the edge of the orchid craze even though it’s darker. So we’ll call Molly my Winter Radiant Orchid.
2. MAYBELLINE MASTER GLAZE IN PETAL PINK – Shh, I know it’s called Petal Pink but this is orchid on my skin. It’s my $4 Radiant Orchid cream blush and I love it.
3. BUTTER LONDON NAIL LACQUER IN MOLLY CODDLED – This is probably the closest I’ll get to Radiant Orchid. butter LONDON calls this their take on the Sephora color of the year. I call it fabulous personally.
4. PAINTED EARTH LUXURY LIPSTICK IN ORCHID – This isn’t a typical Marcia color but it’s really pretty when I blot it down. I’m shocked that I’m comfortable in a darker shade like this. I think this is a versatile shade since you can wear it as a true orchid or you can tone it down and make it radiant.
The following 8 items are ones I admire a lot. They attracted me when I saw them on websites and some are even considerations for my personal collection.
1. Sephora’s Formula X Liquid Crystal polish in Wavelength– the picture in the collage shows Equinox which is gorgeous but for radiant Orchid it’s Wavelength all the way.

Formula X Wavelength

2. OCC Nail Lacquer in Electric Sheep – again, the picture above is Vapid but it’s really Electric Sheep that I think would be a great radiant orchid shade

OCC Electric Sheep

3. Marc Jacobs Beauty Matte Lip Gel in Gossip – I’d never have the nerve to wear this hot fuschia but I sure can admire it.

4. Nars Never Say Never Lip Velvet Matte Lip Crayon – I love lip crayons and this lilac rose looks enticing.

5. Eddie Funkhouser Chromographic Lip Color in Modern Marvel – Eddie Funkhouser loves extreme looks and even though I don’t have the guts, I think this Metallic Grape Shade could be magnificient.

6. Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Lip Gloss in D2 – if you love a glittery lip then this is going to be the color that is going to make your season. D2 is a Shimmering Amethyst.

7. Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color in Violet Addict – these gorgeous lips belong to Miranda of Slashed Beauty. When I saw her review I instantly emailed and begged her to let me use her picture. The color is a great example of radiant orchid and her lips are fabulous wearing this color (and any actually). Please visit her blog to see the product.

8. Dose of Color in Attitude – Phyrra and Makeup Geek have turned me on to the bright shades of Dose of Color. This brand is selling like hot cakes and Attitude is a perfect example of the reason why. Love Potion lipstick is another great radiant orchid example.

Well as you know I can’t count since my top 10 has 12 items. Which of these are products you’d love to own? Which Radiant Orchid items do you recommend to me?
