On the 2nd day of Christmas, Beauty Info Zone’s giveaway is for Boxycharm November

two turtle doves

BOXYCHARM has a charm about it that’s hard to beat. A month’s subscription is $21 and you are guaranteed to get 5 full size products. While I spent $21 to receive this, the box contains products worth $123. Where can you get 6 times the value of what you’ve spent except at Boxycharm?? Well you could get it by winning the November box right here for the 2nd day of our giveaways.

Let’s start with cosmetics since that’s what I subscribe to get. There are 3 items that make me “think pink”. First is the Manna Kadar Liplocked Priming Gloss Stain ($24) which has only been opened for photographs and not swatched at all. Manna Kadar calls this the latest innovation in lip stains. It contains Vitamins A & E plus Berry Extracts. It’s considered to be a lip primer and lip stain all in one. The color, All of Me, is really pretty and seems universal to me.

StudioMakeup Soft Blend Blush in Wildflower ($17) is a soft neutral that appears to be a warm pink. StudioMakeup describes this as having a silky smooth texture and being highly pigmented. It could also be used as a contour depending on your skintone.

Last of the pinks is the Luxie Rose Gold Concealer Eye Brush 211 ($12). This is a vegan makeup brush that’s coated with anti-bacterial solution. While it’s considered a concealer brush, it can easily be used an eyeshadow brush especially if you like to pat your shadows on rather than sweep them on.

Coolway Leave-In Treatment

Coolway Leave-In Treatment

Coolway Leave-In Treatment ($14.95) is 60 ml/2 oz. It doesn’t look full size but it it is. This is to be used on either dry or damp hair to condition and add moisture to your locks. It is said to help with split ends (or the appearance of split ends actually). Leave-In Treatment is a healing potion based on our patented formulation, that reduces frizz, moisturizes and repairs damage, as well as prevents split ends.”

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum

Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum

The piece de resistance is the Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum ($65). It was hard for me to decide to include this in the giveaway actually. This contains active ingredients like soy protein and French marine plants to help prevent aging. It’s meant to work against wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness while also hydrating and lifting. Those are powerful words. I think this eye serum is the star of the show.

GIVEAWAY:  This is open to internationally except that I’d have to leave out the Coolway and substitute it with something else since liquids can’t be sent. You’d still get the rest of the products though. As usual you must subscribe to Beauty Info Zone (and not just to enter the contest and then unsubscribe). The giveaway is open through December 9, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. EST. If comments close please email me [email protected] with the title Boxycharm and leave your comment so you can continue.

I purchase Boxycharm subscriptions myself and have used my affliate link in case you want to get in on the fun and bargain of this great subscription. Thank you. — Marcia

Wantable Cosmetics for July 2015

Wantable Cosmetics for July 2015

Each month WANTABLE SUBSCRIPTIONS delivers unique boxes to their subscribers. While Lisa loves the Intimates and Accessory boxes, I am truly a Cosmetic maven and that’s the box that I love getting from them (pr sample). Whenever I see a Wantable review online I like to read it to see what they sent to the subscriber and I’ve yet to find a duplicate among them. One thing I have noticed for the last few months is that the brand DOUCCE has made a big appearance. I’ve received three different Doucce products and other than the fragrance of the lipstick each has been a great addition to my cosmetic wardrobe.

The one thing that surprised me this month is that I received two items very similar to my June box. I was a bit put off at first but when I went to use them I realized just how much I liked the additions for July. In June I received a Doucce black liquid eyeliner and this month I received a Frankie Rose gel eyeliner in black. June and July brought me mascaras but they are as different as can be. The Chella Water Resistant mascara from June is great for a daily mascara while the Doucce mascara is wild and crazy (and a great look).

Doucce Volumizer Mascara in black

Doucce Volumizer Mascara in black

DOUCCE VOLUMIZER MASCARA is called PUNK VOLUMIZER MASCARA on the box. I was intrigued and frightened at the same time. At my age the word Punk isn’t in my personal vocabulary but what was the harm of trying this? Doucce says this mascara defines lashes one by one making them thicker and adding spectacular volume. My puny (unpunklike) lashes actually did end up with spectacular volume. I can only imagine what they’d do for someone who had great lashes to begin with. This is NOT a mascara I could wear daily because it eventually flakes on me but when I’m going out at night and just have a few hours, it’s definitely a go. The retail price of this mascara is $24. If I were to return it (which I won’t) Wantable would refund $10.67 towards my next box.

Frankie Rose Limitless Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Midnight

Frankie Rose Limitless Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Midnight

I wear eyeliner every day of my life though I wear brown more than black. I was a little upset with another black eyeliner until I tried FRANKIE ROSE COSMETICS WATERPROOF GEL EYELINER in MIDNIGHT. This gel eyeliner is incredibly smooth and applies like a dream. It’s a rich dark shade that’s smudge proof and waterproof. When I use this I’ll use Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover to get it off. It won’t wash off but it’s doesn’t stain. I’m a fan of Frankie Rose Cosmetics so whatever Wantable wants to send me from the brand is wonderful. The eyeliner comes with a small brush (2 1/4 inch closed) that opens to 3 1/2 inches. I prefer my own brush but this is pretty decent. Like the Doucce mascara the price is $24 with my price being $10.67.

Manna Katar Eyeshadow Stick in Spellbound

Manna Katar Eyeshadow Stick in Spellbound

MANNA KADAR EYESHADOW STICK IN SPELLBOUND is the third item and one I was excited to see. If it’s eyeshadow then I want it. What’s not to love about a taupe eyeshadow? Welllllll – it’s sparkle city. But it’s not the kind of sparkle that falls down on the job. Once I put this eyeshadow crayon on everything stays where I put it. It sets quickly and there’s absolutely no fallout. My cheeks and under eyes don’t end up glittery. This $24 eyeshadow is great with the punk look of the mascara so these will be a couple. And I’ll do my eyebrows next time I wear them – oops.

The last item in my box is a SETA Eyeshadow Brush. This brush brand is new to me. I have Tools listed under my Love column in my preferences so I’m always happy to find a brush, especially one for my eyes, inside. This pretty teal brush is firm yet soft and is manmade and costs $18 (return value $8) but I couldn’t find any more information about the company.

This month’s Wantable Cosmetic box has a value of $90 so you’d come out ahead with this $40 box. If you kept all the items then you’d have a $4 credit and next month’s box would be $36. Wantable has been sending out cosmetics for a few years now and they just keep making some great choices. When you are thinking of a subscription, think Wantable. — Marcia

What thrills did the July Wantable.com box bring me??

I’m probably one of Wantable.com’s most excited customers. I love getting this box and I look forward to its arrival. They introduce me to new luxury brands, tempt me with trendy brands, allow me to customize my favorites and always seem to read my mind. July’s box was no different.

July Wantable.com items

July Wantable.com items

The July Makeup Box has products that were chosen by T Sammarco who is an in-house makeup artist for Wantable plus she’s a children’s book author and recently wrote a book called The What If Book. The reason I’m mentioning this is that the proceeds from the book go to 2 children’s foundations for children with leukemia (like the author’s daughter) and cancer.

Now on to the July Wantable Makeup Box….

What struck me right away were the brands represented in my particular box: Manna Kadar, MIA BelleZZa, Michael Marcus, Lise Watier and Three Custom Color. Two of these are new to me: MIA BelleZZa and Michael Marcus. The others are brands I love but can’t find that easily so I’m thrilled that Wantable brings them to my door.

The Michael Marcus Nail Polish in Sunset ($15) is the most noticeable item in the July box. Not only is the color brilliant but the shape of the bottle is so unusual. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. Perfect for summer, especially for a pedicure! Different shades of Michael Marcus were in different boxes.

I instantly opened the Lise Watier box since it’s a thrill to get this brand in my subscription. This month I received another Ombre Souffle Supreme eyeshadow, this time in Magie Blanche. It’s a sparkly white that’s subtle at the same time as being bright and beauteous! The Ombre Souffle ($24) shadows are similar to the spongy ones from Chanel and Armani.

Three Custom Color delighted me with a cheek tint in Simply Beautiful ($22), a very appropriate name. This pinky coral tint should work for anyone’s skin tone. 3CC check tints are magnificient especially for someone like me who loves cream blushes. This can also be used as a lip tint.

A great accompaniment to Simply Beautiful is the MIA BelleZZa Luxe Rouge Nourishing Lipstick in Carla ($18.50). The colors are perfect together. Carla is lighter and a little more pink than the 3CC Cheek Tint which make them complement each other so well.

In addition MIA BelleZZA’s Long Last Eyeliner Pencil in Indigo ($16.50) is included. I’ve been getting a lot of brown and gray liners lately so having this pretty blue is a treat. Plus it’s self sharpening which makes life so easy.

The Manna Kadar product is a deluxe sample of Bronze Beauty Self Tanning Lotion. Wantable doesn’t put a price on this, unlike so many other subscriptions, since it’s a sample even though it’s a deluxe size. You aren’t paying for an extra like this.

My subscription costs $36 each month though you can buy these for $40 if you want to experiment for a month. The value of this box of beautiful new things is $96 so it’s like I got $60 in freebies especially since I love all of these. I probably won’t use the self-tanning lotion but that was a freebie. I know not everyone is as into subscription boxes as I am but if you are going to try one then Wantable is the way to do it in my opinion. I use so many of the products that I get in my boxes.  To see other Wantable reviews click HERE. Have you considered this subscription box? Would you use the items I received this month? — Marcia

DISCLOSURE: I have purchased my boxes myself but Wantable has just started a referral link that could earn me $1 if you sign up for emails, $9 if you subscribe. June busted out all over with Wantable.com

Wantable.com June box

Wantable.com June box

If you’ve been paying attention (which I’m sure you have) then you’ve noticed that I haven’t really reviewed any subscription boxes lately. My friend Lola always calls me the Queen of Subscription but I’m giving back the tiara and just going to be part of the Ladies in Waiting instead. I’m not giving them up cold turkey though – that’s impossible – but I’m sticking with my favorites and Wantable.com is my favorite. Let me introduce you to the June 2013 Wantable.com subscription box.

Wantable.com summary sheet

Wantable.com summary sheet (click to enlarge)

There are a few important things to know about Wantable.com. First it’s one of the more expensive boxes but I’ve yet to be disappointed ($36 a month with a subscription, $40 if you just want one box). Each box is different, each box has brought me new brands, each box is tailored to me. Second, just like I said the boxes are tailor made. You fill in a very complete profile, which you can change at any time, and get items that you want to get. For example I said I don’t want bronzers (I may change my mind on that) so I haven’t gotten any bronzers. I also said I don’t want eyebrows. But I did say I wanted nail polish, eyeshadow, blush etc and could specify tones. If you want to switch your box to a Jewelry box one month you can easily do that.

Here are the delights I received in my June subscription:

Manna Kadar Gloss Ware Long Lasting Lipgloss in Nibble – a beautiful light rose pink that’s just my style. It reminds me a lot of a MAC lipglass. (value $19)

Manna Kadar Gloss Ware in Nibble

FACE Stockholm Cream Highlighter in Radiance – I’ve actually got this in the shade Dignity which is a golden shade while Radiance is a light pink. We love FACE Stockholm on Beauty Info Zone so this was a pleasant surprise. (value $25)

FACE Stockholm Cream Highlighter in Radiance

Be A Bombshell Eyeliner in Espresso – this is a brand that you’ll find in several of the subscription series which isn’t a negative. It’s a great brand. I’m loving this liquid liner because it doesn’t run at all. It doesn’t say it’s waterproof but it lasts like it is. It’s easy to apply and there’s no fear that it’s going to drip. As much as I love the colors of some other brands they’ll sometimes make my eyelashes stick together but this one doesn’t. Plus the brown is truly brown and not a black/brown. (value $14)

Be a Bombshell Liquid Eyeliner in Espresso

Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme in Vert Enchante – I died and went to heaven! 1) Lise Watier!! 2) I love these souffle type shadows that are like the Armani and Chanel ones 3) It’s a gorgeous green silver shade. I’ve been drooling over the reviews that Pink Sith and Perilously Pale have done for Lise Watier and now it’s M.I.N.E. (value $24)

In addition there’s a nail polish from KnockOut Cosmetics that’s a Flatte Polish (aka matte) in LiLi. I think I’ll wear it matte/flatte at first and later add a top coat. It’s a beautiful summery lilac. (value $14)

Individually these would cost $96 but I pay $36 per month for my subscription. Did I get my money’s worth? Absolutely. I’ve used the eyeliner, gloss and Lise Watier eyeshadow already, I’m looking forward to trying the nail polish. I will either use the highlighter or use it for a giveaway since it’s so close to what I own already but I think it’s wonderful. The products that Wantable used in their various boxes this month were chosen by Lara Eurdolian from Pretty Connected. Other boxes could have also contained 3CC, Besame, Susan Posnick; all fabulous reliable brands that you want in your makeup wardrobe.

Wantable for May 2013 brought me a pretty smile and great eyes

Wantable products for May 2013

Wantable products for May 2013

My Wantable subscription for May 2013 brought me some great surprises. While I’ve used all the brands in the box, all the products were new to me. If you’ve followed along with our Wantable reviews then you know that they have 2 choices of boxes – you can pick Jewelry or Beauty. I’m a beauty fanatic so all the boxes I’ve purchased are in the beauty range. For Lisa’s birthday I bought her a beauty box and then when the company offered one for review she picked the jewelry box to show you what it was like. So we’ve rounded out the story and now I continue with my Wantable Beauty love.

The May box contained the brands: Besame, Three Custom Color Specialists aka 3CC, Manna Kadar, Face Stockholm and Frownies. The shades in my box were chosen by the profile that I filled out. So what I got wouldn’t be what you got.

I was super excited because my box is all about EYES! Give me some money to go buy cosmetics and I head right to eye products. First there’s a beautiful green eyeshadow from Three Custom Color called Cool Sage. One of the interesting things about 3CC is that they will pick a color (like sage) and do a cool version and a warm version of the color. With my new love of green eyeshadows this was a great pick for me. 3CC shadows cost $22.

Next is a product from Manna Kadar that is totally new to me. It’s called Trans-fix and it has a job: transform any eyeshadow into a smudge proof liquid liner. Since it’s so hard to find just the right green liner this is especially good for that. The packaging of it is terrific since it’s all one piece and the brush is ultra thin. What I’ve done with this to keep it clean is after use I wipe it off on a towel so that I’m not contaminating the product in the tube. Trans-fix sells for $19.

Then Wantable spoiled me with one of my favorite brands – FACE Stockholm. I hope they include more FACE Stockholm products in the boxes since it’s not an easy brand to get ahold of but it’s a wonderful one. We have many reviews of FACE Stockholm on Beauty Info Zone. One of the products I like so much from FS is their cake eyeliner which works wonderfully with Trans-fix. But back to the review — I received a Volumizing Mascara in Black. I haven’t used it since I have two open mascaras at the moment but I’ll get to it in about a month. I’m looking forward to trying this $24 volumizing mascara.

FACE Stockholm Volumizing Mascara

Still on the eyes is a package of Frownies Eye Gels. This was a bonus in the package so they list it as having $0 value. I like that they list samples that way since they are samples after all. What’s nice about Frownies is that you can reuse them and even though they recommend their Rosewater Hydrator Spray, you can use water or another liquid.

Frownies Eye Gels

This face wouldn’t be complete without lips and that’s where the gorgeous brand Besame comes in. The packaging of Besame is so amazing and luxurious. Just look —

Besame lipstick packaging

this is called C.L.A.S.S. My Besame Classic Color Lipstick is in Champagne ($22), again fitting my profile. The shade is a nude with color so you won’t come off looking like the walking dead in it. Besame is another brand that isn’t found that easily so it’s especially nice that Wantable includes this in their box.

Each month Wantable works with a pro to help curate the boxes. For May it was Lara Eurdolian of Pretty Connected. I love her quote of the month: “Remember, the quickest way to become a beauty expert is to try new products.” -Lara

Wantable.com subscriptions are $36 so this is a higher cost than most of the boxes around but I’ve always gotten my money’s worth. The value of this box (not counting the Frownies) is $87 and the brands are outstanding. I’ve dropped three of my subscription boxes in the last few weeks but Wantable is sticking around. I can’t wait to see what other surprises they come up with for me. — Marcia

Wantable for March 2013 – a box that will make you wantabuy!

Wantable Robert Jones collection

Wantable Robert Jones collection

I’m way overdue to tell you about Wantable’s subscription boxes. I was lucky enough to be sent one in January but put it aside and shamefully forgot to write about it – then life happened (mom in the hospital, vacation, etc) and it slipped my mind. But it didn’t slip my mind that much since I knew that purchasing one for my blog partner Lisa’s birthday would make her thrilled. She’s got an upcoming review about the Wantable Subscription service and how it works but I’m beating her to the punch with a box you can buy right now.wantable march robert jones

In general Wantable boxes are $40 each or $36 for a subscription. You don’t know what you are getting BUT you fill out an amazing profile and list what you DO want and what you DON’T want. For March though they also have a curated box by the incredible Robert Jones as a choice. I have several cosmetic books by Robert Jones that I’ve bought over the years so I was instantly attracted to the idea of buying this box. But when I saw their teaser picture and Cailyn gel eyeliner was one of the products, I was sold! I purchased this and a future subscription without a doubt in my mind.

March Makeup Box

  • 5 full-size premium makeup products.
  • Hand-selected by makeup artist Robert Jones.
  • Expert application advice for each product.
  • Free shipping and free returns.
  • 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
  • Items shown are the products you will receive in the March Pop Box.
  • Choose this box or personalize your own with our style quiz!

Here’s a list of what’s in the box: Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in Black ($21), Manna Kadar Blush in High Five ($19), Peepers by Darla Eyeshadow in Betty Jane ($18), 29 Cosmetics Dew Lip Gloss in Napa Sunset ($24), Color Club Nail Polish in He Loves Me ($8) plus a sample packet of 29 Cosmetics skincare. That’s $90 worth of cosmetics that I paid $36 for. And the best part is that I like them all!!!

Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in Black – I’ve already reviewed this in Green and I love these long lasting liners. This was what got me excited about buying this Wantable box in the first place. I was paying just a little more than the liner alone and getting all of these other products. Black needs no description but it is a super dark black and a super long lasting liner.

Manna Kadar blush in High Five – I’ve only reviewed Manna Kadar Cosmetics once and it wasn’t for color products. I’ve read great things about Manna’s cosmetics so having this pretty peachy pink blush is terrific. It goes on smoothly, lasts long and is just plain pretty. I don’t see this particular shade sold on the Manna website so maybe it’s exclusive to Wantable.

Peepers by Darla eyeshadow in Betty Jane – this adorably named company is new to me. It’s the creation of a mother and daughter team who’ve been in the beauty business and in the natural farming business for years. Betty Jane is a cool toned light green with golden shimmer.

29 Cosmetics DEW Grape Seed Age Protecting™ Lip Gloss Collection SPF 15 in Napa Sunset – this is a new brand to me but it’s not a new brand. Neiman Marcus carries 29 Cosmetics so I’ve always been intrigued by the brand but didn’t want to buy sight unseen. This very pretty gloss looks almost neon in my pictures but it’s actually a shimmery sheer shade of a nectar rose. It’s not in the least scary. Plus it works well with the other shades in this box.

Color Club nail polish in He Loves Me – I haven’t worn this beautiful summery pink polish yet. It’s not sheer which is good since that’s not my favorite finish. It’s a cream finish that I know I’m going to enjoy this summer.

There’s also a sample packet of 29 Cosmetics skincare – probably enough for one use.

I’m really happy with this Wantable box. I do love subscription boxes and I think this box is the cat’s meow. There are always name brand full size cosmetics in each box. You don’t get that with other boxes – especially 5 full size items – you might be lucky to get one that may or may not work for you. With Wantable and your profile you are bound to get items you love.

I’ll write up my previous box soon so you can have an idea of what a random box is like. Plus you’ll be seeing my reviews of future boxes since I have signed up for my subscription. Have you heard of Wantable before? I think you’d like it. I know I do. — Marcia

Introducing MANNA Cosmetics – review and swatches

We love to introduce you to new brands on Beauty Info Zone so we’re very excited about MANNA Cosmetics. Their tag line is “WHERE BEAUTY MEETS FUNCTION” and they have accomplished that with the two products being reviewed today: Sheer Glow and Camera Ready.

MANNA Cosmetics is the dream of owner Manna Kadar who believes in keeping beauty simple. She has worked “to find the perfect products to create a makeup regimen that is simple and efficient without sacrificing the fun, femininity and function of cosmetics” as their website teaches us. Her dream and hard work finally came to fruition in January 2012 when she launched her line. She has carefully created six products that will ensure a radiant look that lasts all day long.

image from mannadakarcosmetics.com

Camera Ready is MANNA’s primer. It gives a beautiful, smooth silky finish to your face to prepare it for foundation. I like to really put things to the test when I’m reviewing so I’ve used this with liquid, cream and powder foundation and haven’t had any problems with it balling up or making the foundation difficult to put on.  This has some silicone in it (dimethicone) to help make it as smooth as it is. It’s very lightweight though and doesn’t feel like I have anything on though it does keep my face fresh all day. Plus some of those pesky little lines aren’t quite as visible when I use Camera Ready.

I did a little happy dance when I saw Sheer Glow for the first time. I’ve always been enamored with highlighters and the ones that tempt me are so expensive. Sheer Glow though is $29 (half the price of what I longed for) and it’s perfect. You can use this alone over or under foundation, you can mix it with foundation, and you can use it anywhere on your body that you want a little shine.

Manna Sheer Glow

ingredient list

I like to take a small pump and mix it with my foundation to create a luminous glow. The more I apply the more I see shimmer in it so that’s why I just use a small pump. I’ve yet to see shimmer on my face with the amount I use (and I examine it carefully in my 10X mirror!!). If I wanted some cleavage emphasis though I’d apply it there with a heavier hand. In the bottle I see a slight pink undertone. When I swatched it on my hand I saw the gold to it. On my face though, it’s just a youthful glow.

Sheer Glow

The other 4 products in MANNA’s signature line look wonderful too: Hi-Def powder, Prime Time for eyeshadows, Transfix for converting shadows into eyeliner and a Lash Primer. Besides these items they also have some beautiful looking color cosmetics.

Signature line from mannadakarcosmetics.com

It’s wonderful to discover a line like MANNA that has quality products at great prices. I’m still doing that little happy dance every time I take these out. I hope you’ll join me in dancing. — Marcia
