What’s making you blush these days? How’s Viseart Theory for a suggestion?

A new season needs something new to welcome it so Makeup Wars has decided to regale you with our favorite blushes. There are a few things I never leave the house without and blush is one of them. I’m pale as can be so without blush there’s no definition to my face. I’m comfortable spending the day with a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen, curled and mascara’d lashes, and some blush. Surprisingly I’m not choosing a cream blush for this post even though I love a good cream blush. Instead I want to share one of the two Viseart Theory Cheek Palettes  –  Enamored.

Viseart Theory Cheek palette in Enamored. Picture credit: Muse Beauty

There are two Theory Cheek palettes available and before Christmas I bought both Enamored and Ablaze from Muse Beauty during a holiday special. Enamored is the cool toned palette with a light pink crystal highlighter at the top, a matte dusty rose blush in the middle, and is finished with a sheer bronzer. Separately this costs $45, I think I paid around $72 for the duo which included an extra of an Esum shadow brush. Ablaze is the warmer version of the two and has a soft gold highlighter, matte coral blush, and the same sheer bronzer. I’m happy I have both but it’s Enamored that has me, well, enamored.

Viseart Theory packaging (picture: Muse Beauty)

I love the size and packaging of these palettes. If you bought any of the Theory eyeshadow palettes it’s the same packaging. They measure just 2.5″ x 3″ and snap shut with a strong magnetic closure. While it sounds small my blush brush fits in it perfectly without picking up any of the highlighter and/or bronzer. It also has a small mirror so it’s an all-in-one palette and great for on the go. It folds into a small easel too. Grab the Theory Cheek palette of your choice and a Theory eye palette (for Enamored think about these three: Amethyst, Cashmere, or Chroma) and you’ve taken up no room but have a variety of colors to use.

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

Now let’s talk about quality. Actually I don’t need to do that since Viseart is one of the top makeup artist brands available. Ask a professional makeup artist what brand they most love and you’ll hear Viseart over and over again. The 3 products in the palette are a dream to blend. They are silky soft with incredible pigmentation. Most important though is that the color lasts. So many blushes fade away but Viseart knows how to create a product that is long lasting.

Viseart Enamored swatches from Muse Beauty

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

This is more than blush obviously but when working with it you’ll find there’s more variety than it first appears. I wear the pink highlighter over the blush or over the bronzer all the time. It softens the colors and gives it more versatility. Having three colors to use, being able to mix and match, and the sturdiness of the palette makes this easy to put in your cosmetic bag or to use for travel.

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

There’s a lot to admire about this brand: the products contain natural and organic ingredients, it’s cruelty free and they don’t use parabens, gluten, petrochemicals, silicone or mineral oils. But what impresses me most is the reputation of Viseart.

Beloved by Professional Makeup artists on top film sets around the world, Viseart’s high-performance makeup formulas harness the best plant-based resources and innovative technology. The ingredients in our artisanal makeup are carefully balanced to naturally and healthfully create radiant skin and camera beauty.

There are so many blushes available and only one face per person so finding your favorite blush can be make or break your look. I find that Enamored makes my look on the days that I want a cool and sophisticated blush. Have you tried Viseart yet? With a Sephora sale coming soon you should consider adding one to your collection. The palettes are available at Sephora, Muse Beauty, and Beautylish.  —  Marcia

Now how are my favorite bloggers blushing? You’ll want to know.

Makeup Wars takes on Wet n’ Wild

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening and Blossom Glow

If you’ve been looking at Wet n‘ Wild in stores you’ll find that the line is revamping. It’s out with the old and in with the new. This time around Makeup Wars wanted to talk about favorite WnW products and I’m sure there are many. Since my favorite, the original Comfort Zone eyeshadow palette isn’t really around anymore, I decided to write about two of the newer products that can be found instead.

I bought two products over the last 2 months – one is a hit and one sadly is a miss. I’ll start with the hit: Nude Awakening coloricon 10 pan eyeshadow palette. I chose this because I haven’t bought the more expensive peach palettes that have been a hit for the last year. At $4.99 I thought this was more my style.

Nude Awakening has 10 shades in it: 2 matte transition shades, 3 more mattes, 5 satin finish. The formula of the Coloricon shadows have all been reformulated and I’ve seen several reviews that give a thumbs down to the formula but I think that Nude Awakening’s shades are for the most part nicely done.

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

There’s a nice illustration on the back of the palette to help guide you in creating a day look and a night look. I personally ignore those.

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

Now about the colors. Let’s take a few looks:

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

No. 1 is a light tan transition shade while No. 10 is a dark brown transition. I’ve gotten fallout from #10 but I’m aware of it now and it’s easy to clean.

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening – transition shades

No. 2 is a nude matte that doesn’t show up much on me but is fine for filling in the browbone area. I find it to be chalky though. #3 looks like a beige in the palette but on me it’s a pretty peach with a satin finish. #4 is also a peach but it’s a little lighter and has some shimmer to it. While #5 is a darker peach satin and one of my favorites. I like to wear #5 with either 3 or 4.

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

No. 6 is a shimmery peach that to me is like #2 but with more shimmer. #7 is a matte reddish brown while #8 is a favorite dark brown with a touch of shimmer to it. Last is #9, a matte black, with a good formula.

Wet n Wild Nude Awakening

There are just 4 Coloricon 10 pan palettes and one is a redone Comfort Zone but when I saw that one it just made me want to dig out my original and pass that one by.

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone

Next I have a beautiful Wet n‘ Wild megaglo Highlighter Powder in Blossom Glow. There are 5 of these ($4.99) and all look so pretty with their floral design BUT  …

Wet n Wild Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow

when I opened it this is what happened

Wet n Wild Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow

It had come apart in the palette and is so fragile that it’s hard to use. I certainly can’t keep it anywhere it might fall or it will be shattered to bits. When I was shopping this week I noticed all the Megaglo Highlighting Powders that were left in the display had smashed so it wasn’t that I got a bad one. Blossom Glow is a light peach that gives me a small glow. It’s not shimmery and it is glowy. I couldn’t come close to getting a swatch picture of it since it shows up so lightly.

Wet n Wild Highlighting Powder in Blossom Glow

My recommendation is to buy Nude Awakening if you don’t have these shades in your collection. I have to use an eyeshadow primer with it but that’s what I prefer anyway. Plus I now have some pretty peaches that didn’t break the bank. I can’t really recommend the megaglo Highlighting Powder unless you only need it for a short time, I just don’t think it’s going to live long enough for me to get many uses from it.

Makeup Wars Must Have Winter product – Pur Attitude Fusion C

When Makeup Wars chose Must Have Winter Product as the topic of the week I was absolutely sure that I’d choose something cosmetic. I bought so many eyeshadow palettes and lip products in December that I had plenty to pick from. But I’ve found that it’s skincare that I’m concentrating on lately so my typical post isn’t my typical post. I can always talk about my oodles of eyeshadows but I am really loving Pur Attitude Fusion-C lately and seeing what it is doing for my 2018 skin is where I’m at.

Pur Attitude Fusion-C

I started out my recent skincare journey with Vitabrid C¹² FACE Brightening Powder which I attribute for my age spots starting to fade. I’m continuing it with Pur Attitude Fusion-C Vitamin C Serum to not only keep those spots at bay but to brighten my face with its 4 forms of Vitamin C.

Pur Attitude Fusion-C Vitamin C Serum

I was sick the first week of the new year and totally let my skin go. I didn’t use anything at all and felt dull as dishwater. When I snapped out of my funk the first product I reached for was this brightening serum. It contains some great ingredients: Ascorbic Acid, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, and Sodium Ascorbate. Fusion-C Brightening Serum also contains BV-OSC Ester, which is an active form of Vitamin C that improves collagen synthesis. The serum’s benefits include improving the look of fine lines and wrinkles, lightening age spots, and discoloration with the use of Licorice Extract, Vitamin E, and Hydrolized Collagen.

Pur Attitude Fusion-C ingredient list

PUR attitude Fusion-C Brightening Serum quickly perked my skin back up and I’m grateful for that. This is a serum that I’m just using at night. It’s very thin and feels watery yet it absorbs quickly. You know I love Hyaluronic Acid in my skincare and Pur Attitude must know it too.

Fusion-C Brightening Serum is enhanced with the power of natural Hyaluronix™ technology, which delivers up to one thousand times its weight in water, binding moisture deeply into the skin. Hyaluronix™ uses a complex of three different molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid to create a delivery system that encapsulates and time-releases key ingredients deep within the lower layers of the skin.

Pur Attitude Fusion-C Vitamin C Serum

Pur Attitude Fusion-C Vitamin C Serum

Part of my skincare journey is to brighten my skin so that the hyperpigmentation is lightened and evened out. I’m thrilled with how the serum has added to the journey. My skin looks less spotty and I see some increased elasticity in it now that this is part of my routine.

Since I need such a small amount of Fusion-C I feel this serum will last me a good amount of time. Pur Attitude follows a “Safe Beauty” standard and uses no harsh chemicals, parabens, PEG’s, glycols, sulfates, petro-chemicals, synthetic fragrances and artificial dyes. It’s fragrance free (yes!!!!) so it’s not offensive to anyone’s sense of smell.

If you join their reward program you’ll get $10 off your first purchase. Since this serum is reasonably priced at $39 joining makes it an even better deal. I’m interested in trying their Best Sellers Trial Size Kit ($19.99) to try their 5 top products. These seem to be the perfect size for travel.

As a Must Have for me I am obviously recommending it. Get your skincare journey going with this effective serum.  —  Marcia

Now let’s see what other Must Haves are loved by the Makeup War bloggers.

New Year’s beauty with Milani

Makeup Wars chose the topic of last minute gifts today but as I was perusing websites I realized that it’s almost too late for items to be shipped in time for Christmas. So I’m talking about New Year’s Eve instead and the pretties you can get in time for that special occasion.

Milani Hypnotic Lights and Stellar Lights

If there’s ever a time to glitter and glow it’s now. With Christmas and New Year’s Eve in a 7 day period you get to pull out all the stops Go for gorgeousness with cosmetics that won’t break the bank – MILANI.

samples, some affiliate links

Ever since I first discovered Milani it’s been a favorite brand and one that I can rely on. I’m insanely attracted to highlighters but I don’t use them enough to spend a fortune on them. When Milani sent these highlighters my way I was sitting on Cloud 9. Testing and wearing them has been delightful and will continue to be for the holiday events coming up.

HYPNOTIC LIGHTS Powder Highlighter is available in 4 gorgeous shades ($13). They remind me of Becca highlighters which are more than 3x the cost. A similar intoxicating design, soft holographic colors and a wonderful glow.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

This powder is infused with light reflecting pearls that illuminate and give a soft almost imperceptible glow yet move your head and the pink iridescence shows to its best advantage. The highlighter is so soft to the touch, you want to pet it! Wear it over blush or eyeshadow for a look that will bring out the Cinderella in you. I have Luminous Light, a soft pink, and there’s also Beaming Light (light lavender), Luster Light (light peach), and Flashing Light (golden tones). To boost the color more spray your setting spray (Milani Make It Dewy) on your blending brush first. You can find Luminous Light and Luster Light at Ulta and all 4 at Milani.com.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

For a little more razzle dazzle you’ll want to give STELLAR LIGHTS Highlighting Palettes a whirl. These powders have some glitter in them but it’s not glitter you’ll find all over your face or clothes when you wear them. There are two palettes that contain 3 shades in them ($13) which you can wear separately or mix/match.

Milani Stellar Lights Highlighting Palettes

Holographic Beam is a cool toned dream with its soft iridescent blue, pink and peachy gold.

Milani Stellar Dreams in Holographic Beam

Milani Stellar Dreams in Holographic Beam

The shades  in both of these Stellar Lights palettes are micro-milled and buildable so it can be used by the young adventurous lovelies and the older stylish ladies alike. The shades are very richly pigmented and give a multi-dimensional highlighting effect.

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow

Milani Stellar Dreams in Rose Glow is a warmer palette with a beautiful white, fabulous gold, and terrific rose gold. The shades can be used in several ways. Apply them where sunlight or candlelight hit your face using either a blush brush or your fingers. Use your finger to gently dab the colors onto the inner corners of your eyes and on the Cupid’s Bow. Use your brush to apply a shade along the bridge of your nose and cheekbones and blend. While you probably don’t need both palettes, you wouldn’t be sorry if you bought both!

Milani Amore Shine and Stellar Lights

Milani is known for their lip products for good reason. You’ve more than likely seen their lipsticks and liquid lips touted online and that’s because they have a wide variety of colors for every woman’s taste and they are so well priced at $9 each.

AMORE LIGHTS Liquid Lip Color is available in 12 shades. Unlike most liquid lip colors available these days these are shiny and not matte. In my opinion they are so much easier to wear than a matte lip. The applicator tip makes them a breeze to apply since it hugs your lips while dispensing the color evenly. “Designed with a weightless texture and non-sticky feel for hours of non-feathering, comfortable wear. Contains a pout-loving blend of emollients and collagen microspheres, so lips appear full and voluminous.”

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush and Seduction

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush

One swipe really gives me enough color to do my lips. I like to put some on my bottom lip, rub my lips lightly together and then use the tip of the brush to even it out. When I wear Crush I find it lasts well and leaves a light stain behind. It doesn’t feather on me at all. I am very happy to report too that I don’t notice any fragrance with Amore Shine.

Milani Amour Shine Liquid Lip Color in Crush and Stellar Lights in Prismatic Pink

Now for true holiday fun you’ve got to try STELLAR LIGHTS Holographic Lip Gloss. These are the shiniest glosses in town. There’s some contained micro-glitter in the color and if you aren’t careful you’ll find some glitter travels but it’s worth it when you want to sparkle.

Just look at these colors. To die for. There are 6 in all (Opalescent, Iridescent Blue, Luminous Peach, Prismatic Pink, Flourescent Fuchsia, and Kaleidoscopic Purple, $9). These are lightweight and have holographic light reflective pearls in them giving you that prismatic shine. These do have a light cocoa fragrance to them but all you’ll notice is how enticing they make your lips look. Wear these alone or put them over your lip color of the day.

Milani Stellar Lights Holographic Lip Gloss in 01 Opalescent and 04 Prismatic Pink

MILANI Cosmetics are found in many mass market stores along with some at Ulta and lots of special items like these Holographic ones on their website. As a cruelty free company that strives to produce products to complement all ethnicities, skin tones, and ages I think they’ve done a fabulous job. Party makeup doesn’t have to be expensive but it needs to be as beautiful as these products. Have a fantastic holiday. —  Marcia

Favorite Worth the Hype Beauty

Makeup Wars picked a topic that a lot of us are having trouble with so not as many bloggers participated. What are the hyped products that you’re interested in? It’s so different for us all because of where our interests lie. Are you a skincare junkie? Do you crave eyeshadows? Are lipsticks your thing? And if you do pick lipstick what formula? See what I mean? I’ve chosen a few items that I think are worth the hype. I wonder if you agree.

Makeup Wars favorite hyped products

Eyeshadows are my jam. I’d rather buy eyeshadows than anything ever. As you can see by my newest “hyped” choices I like the same colors over and over and I’m really into satin and metallic shades. All 4 of these palettes were bought in the last month. Now I have to stop myself!!

Eyeshadow palettes from Marc Jacobs, Urban Decay, ColourPop, Huda Beauty

URBAN DECAY HEAVY METALS and Urban Decay Distortion palettes are the two that have been on the tongues and minds of most beauty bloggers. I said no to both of these……….. but then I caved for Heavy Metals. It has its negatives but the colors are so pretty and the formula is excellent. I seriously thought about Distortion but I have the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette so I have talked myself down and used that instead with my darker eyeshadows.

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

The nice thing about UD’s Heavy Metals is that I still get all my neutrals but then I have brights that I may or may not use too often. The only negative about the palette is the size and configuration. I don’t have a drawer big enough for it at the moment.

HUDA BEAUTY has definitely been among the most hyped brands and I wanted in. At only $27 the small Obsessions eyeshadow palettes were an easy pick. Only Smokey Obsessions had colors that I knew would look good on me even though I was tempted by Warm Brown and Mauve.

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions eyeshadow palette

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions—Master the ultimate smoky eye or staple nude look with this range of four mattes and five metallic shimmers—including an intense black, warm shades of dark brown, champagne, gold, and silver.

Even though it’s not the most sturdy palette I love the size and will most likely take it on my long trip. The textures are divine.

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY already takes up a lot of real estate on my vanity but I was so tempted by their new formula and had to buy an Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette. I know I didn’t need it but I couldn’t help myself. It was a necessity that I try the new formula. Don’t you agree? (Please say yes). Of course I stuck with the most traditional one and bought Glambition with its nudes and bronzes. Marc Jacobs isn’t as hyped as it used to be when it was new but it’s a brand that should get a little more attention.

COLOURPOP is hyped to the sky and back. You can’t beat their prices and you can’t beat the amount of products that they have. I’ve bought a lot of ColourPop and when Sephora started carrying it I was back looking for it again. My choice this time was the Semi Precious Shadow Palette ($26). I wanted to try their pressed shadows and this has some lighter shades I wanted. I know I won’t use them all since red/cranberry and my eyes don’t go together but the lavender and greenish gold are fabulous.

ColourPop Semi-Precious pressed eyeshadow palette

The one lipstick brand of all the ones being talked about lately that has tempted me is PAT MCGRATH. She has two formulas out but LuxeTrance is the one I wanted since it’s a cream formula and not a matte. The pictures on Sephora aren’t representative of the shades at all but through research I narrowed it down to Sextrology described as a neutral pink. It’s not a light pink but it’s not dark either. It feels good on my lips which is uber important and there’s no fragrance! Go Pat. There 25 shades in LuxeTrance and 9 in MatteTrance. This is the first Pat McGrath that I’ve felt deserved the hype. And the package wasn’t filled with sequins that get all over the place.

Now onto skincare. When Lisa and I started this blog she was the one that emphasized skincare. I used a limited selection but that’s changed dramatically and now I’m the one emphasizing it along with her. I have 3 items from IT COSMETICS that I use daily. Two are new so there’s more hype about them and one is a staple that I’ve purchased 4 times after receiving my first one.

IT Cosmetics Miracle Water, Secret Sauce, Bye Bye Serum

IT COSMETICS BYE BYE LINES SERUM Advanced Anti-Aging Wrinkle-Smoothing Miracle Concentrate is my absolute favorite serum ever. I love serums and consider them to be a vital part of my regimen. Bye Bye Lines Serum is great for me day and night. It never interferes with cosmetics. It smell delicious with a hint of orange. It fills in fine lines. I always go back to it if I’m testing other brands.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Serum

This revolutionary, antiaging miracle concentrate was developed with plastic surgeons to deliver 10 powerful clinical results to your skin in as little as 10 days. Infused with proprietary Drops of Light Optical Blurring Technology™ and skin-loving ingredients—including peptides, caviar extract, hydrolyzed collagen and algae—the weightless wonder serum visibly erases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving the look of tone, texture, firmness, suppleness, and elasticity. It also supports the natural skin barrier, hydrates, and gives skin a look of youthful vitality and radiance.

IT COSMETICS SECRET SAUCE Clinically Advanced Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer is a new product from IT that I’m loving. While I’ve only been using it for about 3-4 weeks it’s one that I’ll purchase when the time comes. At Sephora right now you can use the code ITSECRET to get 10 free samples of this with your Sephora purchase. I’m going to do that to take traveling with me.

IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce

The skin-loving, powerfully potent secret lies in the Secret Sauce fermented complex: seven clinically advanced, penetration-enhancing fermented ingredients that work to increase absorbency and maximize the anti-aging benefits. It features anti-aging collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and licorice root to reduce discoloration, lines, and wrinkles. Combined with proprietary Drops of Light Technology™ concentrate and diamond powder, the revolutionary formula delivers a youthful-looking, lit-from-within glow.

This adds a slight glow to my well moisturized skin. There’s a reason that IT brought this out and why so many bloggers are recommending it – it works and it’s wonderful!

IT COSMETICS MIRACLE WATER 3-in-1 Glow Tonic is a Micellar Water unlike any that you’ve tried before. While this cleanses like a typical Micellar Water it also maximizes the efficacy of your other skincare. It contains the Secret Sauce fermented complex so you are getting more than just the benefits of a micellar product. I personally don’t use this on my eyes but I use it at least once a day on my face and will purchase it again.

IT Cosmetics Miracle Water

Now that you’ve seen some hypes what do you think? Do you have more items to add? I know that Fenty Beauty is the most hyped at the moment but I can’t comment on it since I haven’t seen a product that I feel would work for me. What’s your favorite hyped product?  —  Marcia

Winter must haves for face and body

Winter weather must haves

As I sit shivering I’ve gathered together the items that are in current use around my house that are helping me get through this change in weather. Even though we haven’t gone below freezing yet, my skin notices the change and wants me to amp up what I’m using. All of these are recommended and your body will thank you for using them.

samples*, self purchasessome affiliate links

Starting with the shower I’ve been using two new Softsoap* limited edition moisturizing body washes. I even started a giveaway today (link) so that you can try them yourself. Both of these are wonderfully hydrating and the scents are terrific. I’m especially crazy about ICED Kiss with its sweet peppermint fragrance but there’s no denying that FROSTED Wish is one to stock up on. The cherry fragrance is more feminine and the wash is pink so it would make a great (heavy) stocking stuffer.

Softsoap LE Moisturizing Body Washes

After I’m out of the shower I use a fragrance free body lotion since I already have a slight lingering fragrance from my wash. The two in current rotation are Nubian Heritage Shea Butter & Aloe Body Lotion (review*) and SeabuckWonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion (review*). I live out of two bathrooms so I want a great lotion in each. Usually right after my shower I’ll use the Nubian Heritage while other days if I skip a shower I’ve got the SeabuckWonders to slather on before dressing.

Nubian Heritage Shea Butter & Aloe, Seabuck Wonders Himalayan Body Lotion

My feet and heels need help day and night. They get flaky and crack if I don’t take care of them. During the day I’ll use one of my body lotions on them. But at night I need something more powerful and in current use is ATOPALM Moisturizing Foot and Heel Balm which is sadly discontinued. I’ll most likely switch to the ATOPALM Intensive Moisturizing Cream. The balm I’m using isn’t greasy so it sinks in easily and it’s fragrance free which is a biggie for me.

ATOPALM Moisturizing Foot and Heel Balm

My hands desperately need moisture. They often look dehydrated and I’m concerned about the cold weather. I recently bought Skinfix Hand Relief Cream which is helping. As you suspect it’s fragrance free and it doesn’t leave a film behind. I can instantly do what I need to do without waiting for it to dry. I’m very happy that it’s got no added fragrance, urea, soy, glutens, parabens, or phthalates. So far I don’t have to constantly reapply it either.

Skinfix Hand Relief Cream

My lips – oh my often chapped lips. These get special treatment and I always have a balm or three with me. My latest include Dr. Pawpaw Multipurpose Soothing Balm in both natural and peach tinted and also a new one to me, Blue Lagoon Lip Balm.

Dr. Pawpaw Balm, original and tinted peach pink balm

Dr. Pawpaw needs to be reapplied fairly often which is the only problem I find with it. It’s fragrance free and the original is recommended for lips, skin, hair and beauty finishing, cuticles and nails. The tints come in a few shades and aren’t sticky so my hair doesn’t stick to my lips.

Blue Lagoon Rejuvenating Lip Balm

BLUE LAGOON REJUVENATING LIP BALM* is one special lip balm. It’s more like a treatment than the ordinary lip balm. It has a light peppermint fragrance and it’s fabulously rejuvenating. It’s unlike anything I’ve used lately and I want it on my lips all the time. It contains a patented Blue Lagoon Algae that is only found in Iceland’s Blue Lagoon sea water.  Research has proven that Blue Lagoon Algae:

  • Reverses the effects of aging on the skin
  • Reduces UV-induced degradation of collagen in the skin
  • Stimulates skin’s natural collagen production

    Blue Lagoon Iceland Lip Balm

This is the answer for me this winter. It’s already proven to be a powerhouse in how my lips look and feel. While it’s more expensive than most it’s what you need and will make the perfect stocking stuffer. How much do I like it? I bought 2 more to get me through the winter since it’s 20% off for Cyber Monday!

Holiday Beauty Buys for the Eyeshadow lover

When Makeup Wars decided to write about Holiday Beauty Buys I knew that I’d be writing about eyeshadows since that’s my thing. I can’t get enough eyeshadow palettes. I’m enamored with them. What I’m sharing is what I bought and what I want to buy.

This well priced palette is a find for me. The 12 shades of neutrals make me so happy. I love the brightness of the shimmers (they aren’t glitters!!!) and the smoothness of the mattes. All apply beautifully even without an eyeshadow primer which amazes me. It’s not the same old neutrals since there’s much more variety and pizazz. And neutral lovers can never get enough of these easy to wear shades.

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette

I bought this using my 20% off Sephora code but haven’t worked up the nerve to wear it yet. I just couldn’t resist the beauty of this. While I may end up wearing just the neutral side I’m excited to have the brights for those special nights when I want more of a vibe. I know I won’t be wearing every one of these but I’ve never worn every shadow in a palette. I’m sure this will bring many oohs and aahs to your holiday looks.

This set contains:
– 20 Metallic Eyeshadows in Ground (black w/iridescent shimmer), Spandex (deep blue with purple shift and blue micro-sparkle), Metalhead (deep purple), Mullet (deep green), Twisted (gold), Aluminum (warm gray-taupe with iridescent micro-sparkle), Dive (medium blue), Punk Rock (fuchsia), Amp (bright teal), Glamrock (silver), Bass (bronze), Demo (bronze-rose), Afterparty (red), Roadie (burgundy), Scream (mauve), Glory (golden bronze), Starfire (bright copper), Angelfire (pale pink), Maiden (beige), and Acoustic (nude)

Ciate London Beauty Haul, Volume 2

I had to add in a kit that would be more than just eyeshadow and this new Ciate’ London Beauty Haul set has 20 eyeshadows, a mini Wonderwand mascara, Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner, and a mini Liquid Velvet lip in Sydney.

The eyeshadows are a combination of matte and soft shimmers with plenty of pigment. They are a little powdery but that’s easily taken care of by applying them over a primer or liquid eyeshadow and doing your eyes first so you can wipe away the excess. Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Set (Eye Makeup Brushes: 5 pc Precision Brush Set)

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Set

Of all the Beauty Junkees brush sets I’ve used, this is the one that I can’t get enough of. It’s on sale now for just $16.97 and comes prepared to gift. These really aren’t precision brushes for my small eyes but they are amazing blending brushes that I also use for my face. In this set you’ll have blending brushes, concealing, contouring, and a tapered brush. This is a steal and one you want in your life!

I could go on and on and on but I have to cut it off somewhere. These are all favorites of mine (or soon to be favorites) that I think will make great gifts for you and your gift list. —  Marcia
