MAC double palette eyeshadow giveaway

MACGiveaway

It’s giveaway time again. This time we’ve joined with a group of beautiful beauty bloggers to give one MAC double size palette to a lucky US or Canadian winner. There will be 30 shades from the permanent collection so you’ll end up with a variety of colors from neutrals to bolds, from staid to fun, from matte to shiny.

It’s like winning a box of 30 chocolates each with a different creamy center inside except the twist is this will last a lot longer. Every blogger involved picked the shadow they wanted included. I don’t know the list but I picked Satin Taupe since it’s my very favorite eyeshadow. We still needed a few more to fill the palette so my second choice was Malt since my favorite MAC artist feels everyone should have this basic in their collection. If you want more hints of shades in this you can check the other blogs to see if they shared what they picked.

To enter just use the Rafflecopter. The more of our options you choose, the more chance you have of winning. The giveaway runs through Feb. 28, 2014 and is for US and/or Canada only. Good luck!!

Top 10 Tuesday – what’s in my purse?

We can’t have a What’s In My Purse post without seeing the purse and the absolute necessities. My newest purse is the fabulous Marc by Marc Jacobs Too Hot To Handle that I purchased at ShopBop. It’s a dark gray that’s not quite charcoal, the shade is called Faded Aluminum. I love Marc by Marc Jacobs purses!! Inside there is ALWAYS my iPhone, my portable fan (in this case it’s a Coleman) and a purse size brush.
Top 10 items in my purse
Top 10 items in my purse

Now for my 10 favorite items “of the moment” because as you know it will always change. What’s in my purse are items I want to carry around and are almost always extras from my makeup collection. I also usually have another dozen lip products in my purse since I forget about them and only clean it out when I’m looking for a specific lip color!

Top 10 purse lip products

Top 10 purse lip products

1. Make Up For Ever Waterproof lipliner* – this one happens to be 2C but it could be one of my others. These are great because they can blend with the lip of the day or deepen it and they last.
2. butter LONDON Lippy in Trout Pout* – a great shade for warm or cool lipsticks.
3. butter LONDON lipstick in Marshmallow* – this is from butter LONDON’S new makeup collection. What I love about this is that it has no fragrance, it’s creamy and it’s a nude that’s not too nude. It plays well with the other lip products too!

4. IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Flush* – this turns a bright pink on me so sometimes I mix it with the butter LONDON lipstick in Marshmallow for a shade I feel very comfortable wearing.

Top 10 purse eyeliners

Top 10 purse eyeliners

5. Senna Ultra Last Eyepencil in Ultra Brown* – I’m normally wearing brown or black eyeliner and this is a great pencil since I don’t have to sharpen it and it lasts.

6. Physician’s Formula Felt Tip Eye Marker in Jet Black – I love liquid liners and usually have a black one in my purse. If I have a hot flash and my liner of the day disappears then a black liquid saves the day.

Top 10 purse concealers

Top 10 purse concealers

7. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – I carry this since I can mix it with YSL Touche Eclat and have a foundation too.

8. Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat – this is a holy grail. I have one in my purse and one on my vanity at all times.

Top 10 purse Rouge Bunny Rouge blush in Vermeer

Top 10 purse Rouge Bunny Rouge blush in Vermeer

9. Rouge Bunny Rouge cream blush in Vermeer – I’m a cream blush fan(atic) and I have two of this shade. It looks good with everything and I don’t need any tools.

Top 10 purse tools

Top 10 purse tools

10. (and 11 since I didn’t count right) Simple tools that I might need. I keep q-tips in a container keeps them from getting grody and I keep a sponge for blending.

So that’s it, ten items that I can rely on to get me through an emergency and a hot flash. — Marcia

Makeup Wars has a color war going on!

 photo colorwar.jpg

Makeup Wars decided to really go to war this time. We’ve each picked a color to tempt you with. I picked PINK as my color of choice and I’m all suited up for battle in my hot pink slippers, my pink pjs and my pink cheeks! I have oodles and oodles of pink cosmetic products. I love pink lips and blush and that’s what I’m sharing with you. My photobomb pictures are a selection of pinks I pulled out of my drawers but there were more. Interestingly enough (well at least to me) is that my pink eyeshadow collection has dwindled down to just a few so I didn’t include that at all.

Pink blush collection for Makeup Wars

Pink blush collection for Makeup Wars

Here are my most used Pink Powder blushes. Since I’ve already done a Top Ten Tuesday on cream blushes I stuck with powders for Makeup Wars.

Pink blushes for Makeup Wars

Pink blushes for Makeup Wars

1) Tarte Amused is for the days I like a bright pink with a teeny bit of shimmer to it. Tarte blushes are always long lasting which is a big plus for me. (tarte also has a cream blush in Amused that’s a very different shade.)

2) Rock & Republic Spark is a discontinued blush that I love. It’s pinker than it appears next to all these bright pinks but it is subtle. It’s a shame that R&R stopped making their cosmetics. I have several favorites that I’m afraid of using up.

3) MAC Well Dressed blush is the only blush that I’ve finished twice and bought a 3rd time! The satin finishblush has always been a go-to blush.

MAC Well Dressed

MAC Well Dressed

4) FACE Atelier Pink Satin Ultra Blush is just about the perfect pink for me. Sometimes it’s the only powder blush that goes on vacation with me.

5) Kevyn Aucoin Shadore is his soft pink blush, even though it looks bright here it’s really is an easy shade to wear. His blush called Myracle is the one that’s hot and bright.

6) MAC Pink Swoon Sheertone blush is very cool and very pink but the sheertone-ness of it saves it from being overbright on me.

7) NARS Desire – speaking of overbright. I don’t have a large Nars blush collection but this one is such a pretty bright pink that it’s a favorite as long as I use a very light hand!

Makeup Wars pink lip glosses

Makeup Wars pink lip glosses

This is just a fraction of my pink lipgloss collection. Obviously I was once on a MAC binge and at that time bought every pink lipglass they had. Now I’ve moved away from MAC and appreciate all these other brands like Rouge Bunny Rouge, butter LONDON, Le Metier de Beaute, Anastasia and the list goes on.

Makeup Wars pink lipgloss favorites

Makeup Wars pink lipgloss favorites

1) Anastasia Lola is from the Kisses on my List set. This whole set was filled with great glosses with different textures. Lola has turned out to be my favorite of the set.

2 to 4) Beaute glosses are probably my favorite ever glosses. In my picture they look awfully similar but once on there are the variations that we beauty lovers notice. Shown are Medusa, Paramour and Allure.

5) butter LONDON Alcopop is the prettiest pink on my lips and it actually makes my lips look fuller.

6 and 7) ARMANI Lip Glosses in 27 and 1 (which tells you nothing). Armani glosses are moisturizing, beautiful, heavenly and just plain wonderful. These two shades are older but I don’t trust myself to go near an Armani counter to see newer ones.

8) Whip Hand Lip Hit in Yearn is a nude pink that’s more of a liquid lipstick than an actual gloss.

9) SENNA Chic Pink Lip Lacquer is the epitome of pink and my favorite lip product from Senna.

I hope I won this session of Color Wars and that I didn’t wear you out reading all of these. Please visit my fellow warriors to see what colors the others chose to share with you. Any pink favorite blushes or glosses I missed? I’m willing to check them out!! — Marcia

The Beauty Spotlight Team spotlights Marcia of Beauty Info Zone

Every other week the Beauty Spotlight Team spotlights one of our bloggers with a special post. Well this week it’s my turn and I couldn’t be more excited. You see I’ve done a total turnaround in my cosmetic color life. I used to be the PURPLE QUEEN! I had every purple eyeshadow I could get my hands on. I lived and breathed purple for eyes. Then I started adding in browns and taupes but I still would always say that purple was “my thing”. And then this came into my life:

Rouge Bunny Rouge Abysinnian Catbird

Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird

When it arrived from Zuneta I was excited when I saw this but didn’t realize that my life was about to change. Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird looked like a golden green on my eyes and totally captivated me. I wanted to wear it all day every day. I didn’t want to remove my eye makeup. But being the obsessive eyeshadow person that I am, I not only removed it but I started shopping. Since I purchased the RBR I’ve also purchased what is now making up my Top Ten Khaki/Green eyeshadow list (and it was hard to narrow it down to 10).

Beauty Spotlight Team Top 10 khaki/green eyeshadows

Beauty Spotlight Team Top 10 khaki/green eyeshadows

1. As stated above Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird eyeshadow – this started the obsession

2. Bare Minerals The Scenic Route – this has more green to it but it’s still a khaki on me. I adore this when wearing Rouge Bunny Rouge Velvet Frippery cream shadow as a base.

3. and 4.  Inglot 419 and 433 – to say I’m crazy about these would be an understatement. They are beautiful on and each give me a slightly different look. They both have green and gold in them. 419 has more of a green tone while 433 is more khaki. Satiny smooth and long lasting. These are the best Inglot textures of the many I own.

Inglot 419 and 433

5. and 6.  Urban Decay Snare and MAC Greensmoke – these look really similar in my pictures but they are different. Snare is more green while Greensmoke is more smokey. Snare is also more sparkly. I’m more likely to use the Urban Decay at night and the MAC during the day.

7. and 8. Makeup Geek Poison Ivy and Senna Fixation – two beautiful green shadows. Poison Ivy is light while the Senna is deep and a gorgeous green with sparkle. I saw Fixation when I was shopping at IMATS and immediately scooped it up. These two work beautifully together.

9. Whip Hand Green Beret pigment – while I’m still using my small one that I bought from Beauty Army, I want the full size one. Whip Hand did a special Camo Collection for Beauty Army. I love all of them but this one is green with gold. It’s lighter than the rest and looks great on its own or combined with other shadows or pigments.

10. Rouge Bunny Rouge Velvet Frippery – now this has a story. I was so sorry I bought this when I did and here it is on my Top 10 list. Don’t buy it if you are looking for a great green eyeshadow because it’s not. What makes me love it is that I use it as a base with different colors – especially Bare Minerals The Scenic Route and the two Inglot khakis and it makes them look 10x better. For some reason this dull sort of green brings out the best in them. I don’t use a thick layer and I use a real eyeshadow primer first but with that combination I get color that doesn’t fade or change for the entire day.

Nars Tibet (the consummate shimmery sheer white)

MAC Crystal Avalanche (fabulous pigmentation, and this works beautifully as a face highlighter too)

Second from left row top to bottom:

MAC Vanilla (this is a homemade pan made from the Vanilla pigment.  I prefer this to the regular MAC Vanilla eyeshadow, which I think is rather boring.  My absolute favorite for an eye-widening lid shade)

MAC Star Violet (just enough plum to keep it from being too red, and the Veluxe Pearl texture can’t be beat)

MAC Plum Dressing (gorgeous, different, and makes a great smoky eye look)

July reds and blues

Far left row in picture above, top to bottom:

MAC Moon’s Reflection (stunning periwinkle blue that is totally wearable)

MAC Leisure Time (red-gold-bronze that is unique and stunning with brown eyes)

Giorgio Armani #46 (fantastic red-bronze that doubles as a beautiful blush, it applies soft but is buildable for more drama)

Second row pictured above, top to bottom:

MAC Electric Eel (not for everyone, but this is the prettiest, most dramatic blue I have ever owned)

MAC Freshwater (fantastic ocean blue, love this as a liner…and it’s got that fabulous Veluxe Pearl texture)

MAC Deep Truth (sultry true deep blue, one of my most favorite blues of all time…it is a perfect liner shade)

Far right row top to bottom:

Sue Devitt Alexandria (totally underrated brand…this is a fantastic cobalt blue)

MAC Contrast (deep violet-blue, try this over black eyeliner for some mega sultry drama)

Giorgio Armani #1 (rich, velvety navy blue that is a fabulous eyeliner)

Top 10 Tuesdays – Get Your Glow On

Top 10 Tuesdays this week is all about glowing which for summer means the world of bronzing. So what does a blogger who doesn’t tan or really use bronzers do? She tells you what she does like and then what her wishlist is. I’m pale and I don’t mind being pale but every once in a while I do like use something that is going to make me fit into summer society.

1. Le Metier de Beaute Sun Kissed Bronzer – this is the lightest bronzer ever which is why I like it. It’s the only product I’ve used that doesn’t make me feel like I goofed up somehow. I’ve bought other bronzers and used other bronzers but this is the only one I consider pulling out now.

2. MAC Cosmetics Blonde Mineralize Skinfinish – I used to buy every single Skinfinish they made and I still have a small collection of these. The two I considered for this Top 10 list are the Blonde and the Redhead Mineralize Skinfinish. These are the least frosty of all the ones I own and the most natural. I like to use one of the darker shades in Blonde as a blush and then use a brush like a skunkbrush and pick up the powder to give an allover light bronze finish.

3. Armani Fluid Sheer in #3 – the amazing fact about #3 is that I used one up. That’s a feat that probably will never be repeated. I use a tiny drop of this, mix it with my foundation and that’s it. It glows and I have some color. I like that I can blend it well on my jawline too since that’s the biggest problem for me and bronzers. I don’t want JLo on my face and Casper on my neck.

4. Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer – I first got this in a QVC kit and then I bought a bigger one. I use it just like the Armani. It’s lighter than the Armani so it’s good for everyday. Plus it’s only $28 compared to $59 for Armani.

5. Sinful Colors Zincing of You nail polish – well I know it’s not a bronzer but it’s a great light golden bronze for my pale hands. I have several bronze polishes but this one is especially nice for summer and it’s a drugstore delight.

Sinful Colors Zincing of You

Now we need to go to wishlist. I was going to add in my beloved It Creme Highlighters but I decided to stick with bronze.

1. My number one wishlist item just arrived on my doorstep – Beautisol Self-Tanning Mousse. We have lots of reviews on Beauty Info Zone about Beautisol since my blog partner, Lisa, loves bronzers and self-tanners. She has told me over and over to review Beautisol and at last I’ll be able to. I’m nervous though so wish me luck.

2. Becca Bronzing Skin Perfector – this is very similar to the Armani and Josie Maran that I mentioned which is why I haven’t bit the bullet but it makes everyone’s “best of” lists so I’d love to try it.

3. Senna Brilliant Bronze in Dawn – this looks so pretty and light enough for me. It’s a blush and bronzer duo that’s on the pink side.

4. Anastasia LLUMIN8 With Youthful Synergy™ Complex Bronzer – I’ve loved the cosmetics from Anastasia and this looks like one I could carry off.

5. YSL LA LAQUE COUTURE Nail Lacquer in #28 Bronze Metallic (metallic bronze gold) – in pictures this looks so beautiful but I don’t want to spend $28 for it and I wouldn’t wear it until fall but that doesn’t mean I won’t spring for it one day.
