I’m probably one of the only women of my generation that hasn’t used L’Oreal Skincare products. I’ve stayed away from it since I find their products to be too perfumed for me. Yet here I am using their Revitalift Bright Reveal products. I am a member of something called BzzAgent. I’ve been a part of their site for a dozen years and every once in a while they offer campaigns that they feel I am qualified for. I’ve reviewed a variety of products through them – Covergirl Olay cosmetics, mustards, a toothpaste, and a variety of food items. They’ve even sent toilet paper. It’s rare that they offer anything in my field though so I agreed to try this out when it was offered.
4 products from L’Oreal’s Revitalift line were sent my way to test for approximately a month. I have mixed feelings about these but you have to remember that I have a scent bias which I freely admit. I think any negativity I might show is due to that as the products are actually quite good. Revitalift has a big variety of skincare items with these 4 being their Bright Reveal line.
As usual we start with a cleanser. The Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser ($6.99) contains glycolic acid so I haven’t used it daily. This is more than just a cleanser as it’s also an exfoliator so it’s stronger than many of the cleansers I use. This $6.99 cleanser is packaged in a tube which makes it easy to use and remove the amount I need so there’s little waste. It contains micro-pearls along with the glycolic to gently scrub your face, ridding it of dead skin cells and brightening the appearance. The fragrance is noticeable to me but I don’t think it would affect most users.
L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Moisturizer is the daytime moisturizer for Bright Reveal. As you can see by the box it too contains Glycolic Acid although the percentage isn’t given. What makes this right for daytime is the SPF 30 Broad Spectrum Sunscreen. The active ingredients are Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 5%, Octisalate 5%, and Octocrylene 7%. It also contains Glycolic Acid, Vit C, Pro-Retinol, BROAD SPECTRUM SPF30. While this too has a fragrance it isn’t cloying, instead it’s almost a floral citrus scent. Since the fragrance doesn’t dissipate I really enjoy it on the back of my hands. I wish the fragrance was lighter but it’s doable for me there. This retails for $19.99 (Amazon has a 20% off coupon off their $16 price).
Use the Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Peel Pads after nighttime cleansing and before moisturizing. This has the strongest amount of Glycolic Acid in it as the compound contains 10%. This won’t be for everyone since some people can’t tolerate that amount of glycolic. Therefore I suggest that you not use it nightly even though you are going to want to. I find this is the most effective of the products. 10% Glycolic Complex: Glycolic Acid, Vit C, Citric Acid, HEPES
Each multi-textured pad is well soaked with the formula and I could almost cut them in half. The jar contains 30 pads which should last a month but I’m not using them daily as suggested. The fragrance is medicinal and reminds me of other pads I’ve used. This is my favorite of the products since I notice not only some brightening but my pores feel cleaner. Also it aids in making other skincare products like night moisturizers more effective.
L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Dual Overnight Moisturizer has such interesting packaging. The main ingredients in this are 4% Glycolic Acid, Vitamin C, and Pro-Retinol. The two chambers contain different ingredients that merge into one when pumped out. RED CHAMBER: Powered by glycolic acid. Penetrates skin’s surface layer removing dead skin cells to help absorption. WHITE CHAMBER: Powered by Vitamin C + Pro-Retinol. Enhances skin clarity, reduces visibility of hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, and wrinkles.
The red chamber contains a clear glycolic gel while the white chamber contains the white creamy moisturizer. They come out separately but you can’t get just one side to release. You are freshly mixing them together to apply on your face. The goal is to brighten your face and reduce wrinkles in just one week. I’m not really wrinkled so I can’t say I see that effect but my skin has looked brighter with this line when I can use it. The fragrance is also slightly citrus but there is some floral to it. Sadly though it keeps me up at night, even if I apply it hours before bedtime.
In conclusion I’m glad I was selected by BzzAgent for this campaign and that I set my fear aside to try the line. While I’m very cautious with the 2 moisturizers I can use them sometimes and I’ll continue using the Brightening Peel Pads since the price is right and I feel they’ve made the most difference.
