IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer and Bye Bye Breakout Powder

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakcout Full Coverage Concealer and Powder

It doesn’t seem to matter how old I get. Wrinkles? Check. Oily skin? Check. Blemishes? Check. Yes, someone up there has one heck of a sense of humor. I thought by this age I would at least be done with the zits. But nooooo. My blogging partner Marcia was blessed with much nicer skin than I have, so she happily gave me the Bye Bye Breakout products to test – the Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer and the Bye Bye Breakout Powder.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakcout Full Coverage Concealer

The Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer ($28) is a creamy concealer in a jar with a doe foot applicator. This isn’t a concealer for dark undereye circles, although I will make a major confession – I am forever running late so I have been known to use this to conceal whatever needs covering up at the moment. It certainly does conceal, but it’s more of a medium concealer, not full coverage.

It also doesn’t make those blemishes super dry and cracked, which is what I was a little afraid of – ever try drying lotion? I was wary, thinking it might be similar and I thought how in the world could I go through the day with something like that on my skin for everyone to see?? But it’s nothing like that. Ingredients include anti-aging peptides and hydrolyzed collagen, plus oil-absorbing zinc oxide, kaolin clay, witch hazel, tea tree, sulfur and a gentle AHA/BHA complex.

There are seven different shades from which to choose. I like Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Concealer for my localized breakouts, and I think it works even better in tandem with Bye Bye Breakout Powder.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder

The sister product to the Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder ($28), a loose powder that absorbs oil and keeps you shine-free while also preventing new breakouts. There are lots of great ingredients for doing so, including zinc oxide, kaolin clay, witch hazel, colloidal oatmeal, tea tree, sulfur as well as an AHA/BHA complex.

My breakouts are typically localized – I will get one or two on my chin or by my nose. The loose powder is meant to go over the concealer to really finish it and give an airbrushed look, as well as provide more treatment for the inflamed area. Hence, the price – $28 is rather expensive for a loose powder, especially for one that is relatively small when you compare it to the jars offered by other lines, which are about twice the size. But the ones from other lines are basically cornstarch and filler, not treatment, which is why they are cheaper and you get lots more. Now, if you are very blemish prone you can certainly use this as a full face finishing powder and it will do a beautiful job. Just know that since it’s also a treatment product, it’s going to be a bit more expensive for you.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder swatches, left to right:  Translucent, Light/Medium, Tan/Rich

The shades available are Translucent, Light/Medium, and Tan/Rich. I had to swatch them quite heavily because the shades are actually quite forgiving. Basically, Translucent will work for anyone up to slightly darker than medium skin. If you have medium skin you will probably want the medium shade, and anyone darker than medium should go with the Tan/Rich shade.

I am a huge believer in multi-tasking. If I am going to have products on my face while they are covering up blemishes why not also be treating them and preventing new ones from popping up? That sort of logic definitely speaks to me! You can find Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer , Bye Bye Breakout Powder, and other IT Cosmetics products online and at Ulta stores.  – Lisa

Summer Makeup Essentials with Pixi

Pixi Beauty and Pixi Skintreats Summer Essentials

samples

Welcome to August aka the dog days of summer. While I love my dog I have to say that August days can be a drag. We aren’t as excited about summer as before and the heat can get to us. We still want to look great but we don’t necessarily want or need to spend a long time on looking great. PIXI by Petra has chosen 4 products that they think are perfect for summer and helping you get a carefree look that’s fuss free.

Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist

Pixi’s Makeup Fixing Mist is going to be the number one product that you’ll need this summer and into the fall. It’s a makeup setting mist that not only helps your cosmetics last longer but it’s a refreshing pick me up at any time that you feel you are drooping.

Pixi Skintreats Makeup Fixing Mist

This rose water and green tea infused formula comforts, protects and balances skin for a fresh face. You can spray it on your face or do what I do – spray it onto a big fluffy brush to set makeup to make it last longer. It’s very hydrating. I’m not someone that likes fragrance in products and this does contain fragrance but with the fluffy brush I notice it a lot less than if I spray it on. It’s terrific for cooling you down no matter the situation.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

One of my favorite Pixi Skintreat items is Nourishing Lip Polish. This is an exfoliating scrub that contains apricot & grapefruit oils. I need this all year long. First I’m a lip biter so I need to smooth out my lips because of that and second I get horribly chapped lips in winter and need to exfoliate even before a lip balm.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

It’s so easy that a mirror isn’t needed. This is a great protector for your lips that has a nutrient-rich formula smoothes lips with shea butter & a blend of sweet almond, apricot, and evening primrose oils. The exfoliating tip will massage your lips so they’ll look plumper.

Now onto Pixi Beauty and more products that are truly wonderful. Pixi Beauty has 5 MultiBalms that are 2-in-1 products for your cheeks and lips. As a dyed-in-the-wool cream blush lover these are right up my alley.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

These make summer so easy since you can use it and look twice as nice. It’s a creamy product that’s not tacky, has no fragrance, and is infused with aloe vera, shea butter, and rose hip oil to protect.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

There are 5 shades so there’s something for everyone. Pixi believes that Baby Petal is the easiest and most universal but I love them all.

Pixi by Petra MultiBalm for Cheek & Lips

Pixi MultiBalms: Bare Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry, Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose (brighter light)

At just $12 these are wonderful to have in a variety of colors.

One last product to add to your summer essentials list: Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder. This makes apply powder so easy, you don’t need any tools since it’s all in the container.

Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder

This translucent powder can be a setting powder or can be used on its own to give your skin an airbrushed look. Most powders are messy but not Quick Fix. The container holds it in and you use the puff to get the powder to release. When done, just close it up and you’ll have no spillage.

Pixi by Petra Quick Fix Powder

4 summer essentials from Pixi are really only the beginning of all that Pixi has to offer. But they are certainly ones you won’t want to be without. Pixi is affordable beauty. Be sure you sign up for their emails since they always have specials to help you get more for your money. And the fun of shopping at Target is only enhanced when you check out Pixi there. Favorite setting products – powders and sprays

Do you have products that help you finish your makeup each day? That’s what Top Ten Tuesday is about this week. There are some great products available for this job and I’ve picked the favorites that I’ve used. When I’m done I hope you’ll share some of yours with me.

I have to start with IT COSMETICS since I talk about the brand all the time. The product that I’ve used up twice is IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES aka Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder. Once I discovered this powder I stopped using the drawer full I had from Laura Mercier, Kevyn Aucoin, and more. I still use those occasionally but they aren’t in my top ten! Silky soft and it does blur my pores just like it says it will.

Once they came out with Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder I had to buy that too.  This pressed powder is great for travel and on the go.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish Powder is fabulous. I love this powder and am currently on my second one. Powder takes forever and a day for me to finish so the fact that I’ve gone through one and a half jars of this speaks for itself. Diamond Finish sets my makeup, blurs my pores, and gives me a beautiful finish that isn’t matte.

One more loose powder in this group: Pixi Beauty Quik Fix Powder in Translucid wins for the best packaging as well as being a great powder. This is very lightweight and invisible on my skin. It contains great ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber extract to smooth along with grape extract which acts as an antioxidant.

Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is really a cheat since it’s not a powder or a spray but it’s a staple in my cosmetic wardrobe. It has a very unusual texture and gives a matte finish. It’s wonderful for blurring fine lines and pores. There’s no dryness like powder can give.

Now on to the sprays. Skindinavia has two sprays that I have to recommend: Makeup Primer Spray and the Makeup Finishing Spray are both wonderful. Other brands like Urban Decay sell these but they are made by Skindinavia. The Primer Spray is just like it sounds. Spray this one after your skincare is on and it helps deliver a smoother finish for your foundation. The Finishing Spray is to be applied after all your makeup is on and it helps keep your makeup in place for the day. It’s especially great for being outdoors. They even make this in Oil Control and a Bridal version.

A much less expensive version is  Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray at Walmart. This is only $6.30 compared to the $30ish prices of Skindinavia. It’s not bride proof but it’s a good way to see if a spray is for you.

When I was in the midst of hot flashes I relied on Youngblood Minerals in the Mist. I was at IMATS and I looked like someone had dropped a bucket of water on me. I was shopping at Youngblood and they recommended it in Refresh for me and it saved the trip. I carried it around with me to refresh my skin. I’ve since used it up but if I ever go through that misery again, I’d repurchase.

A few other bloggers have joined this week’s challenge. I’m interested in learning more. Are you? — Marcia

Purely Cosmetics and IT Cosmetics have some amazing powders

When pulling out powders for the latest edition of Top Ten Tuesday I found that everything I use is either from Purely Cosmetics or IT Cosmetics. I hadn’t thought about it before but all the other powders I have from Laura Mercier, Kevyn Aucoin, Scott Barnes, MAC Cosmetics, and more just sit waiting to be chosen. But when you find things you love, that’s what you use. These don’t add up to 10 but they are what gets used constantly and that’s more important than a number.
1432000173_makeup-wars-pores-powder-300x225PURELY COSMETICS DIAMOND PERFECT FINISH POWDER is my favorite finishing powder by far. I use this constantly. I finish nothing ever as far as cosmetics go but my current Diamond Powder is ready to say bye-bye but I will surely BUY BUY it again.I’ve been using this for years and plan on always using it. The packaging is ideal with a top that opens to get out the amount you desire plus you can close it up to prevent spilling. It costs $20 and will last you for years. No shimmer involved, just a soft diamond finish. *
1432001448_byebyepores_new2IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES SILK HD ANTI-AGING MICRO POWDER – I’m a huge IT Cosmetics fan obviously and this is my number 1 powder that they sell (and they have a lot of great powders). After I discovered IT Cosmetics this is the second product I bought from them (after Bye Bye Undereye) and I’ve rebought it several times. It keeps me shine free and gives me a more youthful appearance. It’s a Win-Win powder.
1431999940_goldpackagingPURELY COSMETICS SKIN SMOOTHING FOUNDATION and PURE MINERALS FOUNDATION – There are two formulas that are made by Purely Cosmetics. Both are wonderful and I recommend buying sample sizes of each. That way you can test the two products and check for your color.  Skin Smoothing Foundation is the newer of the two. It’s very hydrating because of the silk powder added to it. Plus it helps absorb oil, blur fine lines, nourish your skin (with jojoba) and reduce the look of your pores. It’s great for dry to slightly skin but not very oily skin. Pure Minerals Foundation is their original formula. It’s free of all chemicals and talc as is Skin Smoothing Foundation.  Pure Minerals Foundation is good for all skin types and especially so if you have acne or oily skin since nothing will clog your pores. And the nice thing is that you can add Silk Powder to it if you want. I have several shades in sample sizes which are perfect for finding that perfect match. *
1431999676_mac-blot-powderMAC BLOT POWDER used to always be in my Back2MAC pile since I used it exclusively for probably a dozen years. I always have one in my stash even though I don’t use it as often as I used to since discovering PC and IT. It’s the one MAC product I whole heartedly recommend when asked.
1431999578_it-hello-light-open-300x225IT COSMETICS HELLO LIGHT RADIANCE POWDER – A pressed powder that’s all sort of goodness. If you want that extra radiance to your complexion, this is the answer. As with all IT powders it’s finally milled and never looks powdery. It gives just a hint of glow but isn’t overpowering at all. I think this has been changed to the Illuminating Powder though. *
1431999502_it-cosmetics-new-year-collection13-1-290x300IT COSMETICS CELEBRATION FOUNDATION ILLUMINATION is actually one of two powder foundations from IT.  It’s hydrating, anti-aging, and gives just a subtle radiance. I prefer this to the original Celebration Foundation since it looks and feels more moisturizing.
1431999413_it-cosmetics-qvc-foundation-300x225IT COSMETICS CELEBRATION FOUNDATION is a more matte foundation with great coverage. It’s loaded with all the anti-aging ingredients that IT is known for. I wear this in Fair which is for the lightest skintones; it’s also available in Light, Medium, Rich and Tan. Mine is from a TSV (don’t miss their QVC specials!). *
1431999296_it-january-tsv-powder-compactIT FOUNDATIONS CC+ AIRBRUSH FOUNDATION is the newest powder foundation from IT. This too was part of a QVC TSV. It needs to be sold separately since it’s fabulous when used with their CC+ Cream.

A hit and a miss from Wantable Cosmetics

I’ve been a subscriber to Wantable’s Cosmetic boxes for several years now. Occasionally I receive a box for review which I did with the two boxes I’m going to share today. I’m grateful when that happens and hate to bash them if there’s a miss but one of these two boxes is a total miss for me which is unfortunate. Let me know if either of these would be a hit or a miss for you.

FEBRUARY’S COSMETIC WANTABLE BOX:

Wantable Cosmetics for February

Wantable Cosmetics for February

As usual there are only full size cosmetic items in this package. A subscription costs $36 per month and this February box has a value of $77 which is makes it worth twice as much as paid.

1) BODYOGRAPHY LOOSE COMPLEXION POWDER in PORCELAIN ($24) – this has a very smooth and silky texture and the color is perfect for my fair skin.

Bodyography Loose Complexion Powder in Porcelain

Bodyography Loose Complexion Powder in Porcelain

2) BODYOGRAPHY MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES ($12) – this contains 50 wipes. I’ve never seen a package of wipes this big. It’s double the typical size. I won’t use this on my eyes even though it says it can remove waterproof makeup but these will get used. It should last me for months and months.

Bodyography Makeup Remover Wipes

3) LORD & BERRY LIQUID EYELINER in BLACK ($24) – I’m a huge fan of liquid eyeliner though I do have enough black liners for the next few years. This is a truly waterproof liner. I couldn’t get it off my hand with water even hours later. It’s not my favorite type of packaging since I tend to be more messy with a short brush but when I want long lasting, this will be it.

Lord & Berry Inkglam in Black

4) FRANKIE ROSE LIPSTICK in PINK MELON ($16) is the prize in the package. My blog partner Lisa has reviewed several Frankie Rose products but this is my first experience with them and it’s a winner! This lipstick is beautifully pigmented and has a beautiful shine all on its own. It’s creamy and moisturizing.

WANTABLE COSMETIC BOX FOR MARCH

WANTABLE for March

WANTABLE for March

WANTABLE for March

My March box has me confused and you’ll soon see why. The value of this box is $66.50 and contains 4 full size products.

1) BODYOGRAPHY NAIL LACQUER in FANCY FREE ($8.50) is a very pretty spring peach cream polish. Even though it’s a full size, Bodyography’s polishes are a little smaller than most.

Bodyography Nail Lacquer in Fancy Free

2) AU NATURALE LIP & CHEEK TINT in PARISIAN PINK ($22) is a conundrum. The color in the pot is very appealing.

Au Naturale Lip & Cheek Tint in Parisian Pink

The color once applied is basically invisible. I like a light lip but this is totally clear on my lips. And it doesn’t show up on my cheeks. I got one swatch seen below to photograph and never could recreate it.

3) and 4)  BILLION DOLLAR BROWS BROW POWDER in LIGHT BROWN and in TAUPE ($18 each) – UM, why did I get the same product in two shades? And since my hair is dark brown can I really use Light Brown?

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

I’m sure the idea behind this is to mix the colors but this just doesn’t work for me. I’ve got it already in Taupe (which they couldn’t possibly have known) and I like it in Taupe but I really wish they had sent me a totally different product instead of the Light Brown.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem knowing which is the hit and which is the miss. The great thing about Wantable though is that they have a no hassle return policy. On your packing slip you’ll find the actual cost and the price you’ll get if you return any items. So I can return the ones that don’t work for me and get a credit toward my next box or a refund for the value. Wantable makes a shopping experience easy and fun. You can change around your profile preferences as often as you wish to get the customized box of your dreams. I’m removing powders and brows for now since I’m overloaded and will add back in highlighters which was off my list for a while.

I’ve certainly got some winners from Wantable and even the ones I won’t use might be great for someone else. Which box do you think was my HIT? Are you ready to hit with Wantable? If so please use the Beauty Info Zone affiliate link to sign up.  — Marcia

Perfectly petite stocking stuffers from Pixi Beauty

Stocking stuffers from Pixi!

Stocking stuffers from Pixi!

No trip to Target is complete without a major cosmetics aisle haul of Pixi Beauty.  I love that Target has testers, and the super cute size of the new items and kits that Pixi sent us make them absolutely perfect stocking stuffers!

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio

I am a huge, huge fan of the Pixi Beauty Shea Butter Lip Balms.  I keep the Comfort Clear next to my bed, and I have one of the tinted balms in my purse at all times.  I let my mom use my Ripe Raspberry when her lips felt dry, and she wouldn’t even give it back to me!  The Shea Butter Lip Balm Trio ($16) includes three shades:  Comfort Clear, Honey Nectar, and Ripe Raspberry.  Be sure to pick up one of these shea butter and vitamin E infused lip balm trios for yourself, too.

Pixi Concealing Concentrate in Adaptable Beige

Pixi Concealing Concentrate in Adaptable Beige

Pixi Concealing Concentrate ($12) may look tiny, but it packs a big concealing punch!  This waterproof concealer is highly pigmented so it covers all sorts of skin sins.  The jar opening is small, but it keeps me from the temptation of using my finger.  A concealer brush easily grabs all you need – and you don’t need much – to conceal the after-effects of all that holiday partying.

Pixi Quick Fix Powder in Translucid

Pixi Quick Fix Powder in Translucid

Isn’t this loose powder absolutely adorable??  The Pixi Quick Fix Powder in Translucid ($20) works for all but the darkest skin tones to finish makeup and buff away shine.  The application sponge and the mirror on the top of the lid make this a fantastic way to powder your nose on the go.

Pixi Nail Polish, left to right: Almond Glow, Crystal Champagne, Nude Dazzle

Pixi Nail Polish, left to right: Almond Glow, Crystal Champagne, Nude Dazzle

Marcia raves about Pixi nail polishes and for good reason.  These $8 polishes are the perfect size, not so big they go bad before you have a chance to use all the polish.  They come in fabulous shades and are chip resistant so manicures and pedicures last. The 3-free polishes even have built-in UV protection to prevent discoloration. Three great shades to put in any stocking are Almond Glow, a nude with subtle pink shimmer; Crystal Champagne, a festive multi-faceted rose gold shimmer; and Nude Dazzle, a light metallic nude.

Pixi Fairy Dust Favourites

Pixi Fairy Dust Favourites

Pixi Fairy Dust Favourites ($12) is a single stack of five loose powder highlighter/eyeshadows.  Each screw top lid is also the container for the color above, so it’s not something you can separate into five different gifts.  No worries, the colors are complimentary and all work great together.  They are beautiful eyeshadows that can be deepened with a mixing medium.  Fairy Dust also makes an awesome cheek highlighter.  The lighter shades give skin a beautiful glow when mixed with body lotion, and they make lips look lush when patted over lipstick.  The stack contains Fairy Dust in Snow Sparkle, a glimmering white; Gold Dust, a candlelit gold-nude shimmer; Brightening Bare, a medium nude sheen; Mocha Magic, a warm tan shimmer; and Copper Sheen, a rich metallic copper.

Any one of these petite pretties will perk up a stocking…get them all for a truly sublime stocking experience!  You can find them at Target or online at Pixi Beauty. – Lisa
