Pixi blogger collaboration with Weylie Hoang

There are 3 influensers that Pixi Beauty collaborated with to bring out new color collections for spring. I’ve previously reviewed the Chloe Morello palette and gloss and today it’s time for Weylie Hoang. As someone who doesn’t watch many videos I didn’t know who Weylie Hoang was before I received this. Now I know she has an amazing following and that she’s absolutely adorable.

Weylie Houng

Pixi + Weylie Houng Dimensional Eye Creator Kit

Weylie Hoang’s creation is the Dimension Eye Creator Kit. This is a bargain lover’s delight since it contains a small travel/gym friendly palette with 6 shades and a dual ended eyeliner.

Pixi + Weylie Hung Let’s Talk Eyes palette

The shades are a mix of matte and shimmers. I’ve been shocked at how well the mattes perform and how much pigmentation they have. I rarely gravitate towards matte shadows but these are changing my mind.

Unfortunately for me though the palette is too warm for me. I can use some of the colors but not all. My skintone is quite fair and I have a lot of coolness to it. While I love wearing golden tones and most browns, I just can’t wear the brick shades or orange shades that are so wildly popular. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t wear them.

Pixi + Weylie Hung Let’s Talk Eyes palette

On the back of the palette are the names:

Itty Bitty (champagne shimmer)
Gurl! (rose gold frost)
Potato (medium brown matte)
Sista (medium brick red matte)
Beautis (dark bronze frost)
Bomb (dark brick red matte)

My personal favorites are Itty Bitty and Beautis. The only ones I don’t get much use from are Sista and Bomb.

Pixi + Weylie Hung Let’s Talk Eyes palette

In the words of Weylie Houng: “My kit includes a palette that ranges from earthy tones to high shimmers and a no smudge, dual-ended liner that makes lining eyes super easy. I am excited to share these essentials to creating any dimensional eye look that not only have buttery texture and amazing color payoff but are super portable too.”

Pixi + Weylie Hung Let’s Talk Eyes palette and Dual Ended Liner

In addition to the palette, the Dimension Eye Creator Kit contains a full size black eyeliner. One end is a matte black kohl, the other a black liquid liner. I found the liquid liner side lasts and lasts and lasts. I can’t believe how pigmented it is. The caveat is that I can’t wear it on my bottom lash line since it will bleed on me. That’s where the kohl comes in since that works well on my bottom lashline and on the waterline.

I wish two things though for the eyeliner – first that it wasn’t black. We are due for a great brown liquid eyeliner from Pixi. Second is that it were sold separately. Hopefully one of these days Pixi will make my dreams come true with a brown liquid liner and brown kohl on the other side.

Now that you’ve seen two of the three collections I’m sure you’re anxious to see the last and that will come soon. It’s a beauty from Dulce Candy that I want to take back from Lisa. These three collaborations are available at Pixi’s website and you are going to want them before they are gone!  —  Marcia

What comes to your mind when you hear the name TIGI?

TIGI is mostly known for their hair care. If you’ve been around for any length of time the first thing that probably comes to your mind is BedHead since that’s what made TIGI famous. It’s doubtful that cosmetics come to mind first since the line just doesn’t get the attention that it used to. Well the Beauty Info Zone team is here to change that for you and show you some of the beautiful cosmetics that TIGI creates and let you know why you need to change your mind and think TIGI Cosmetics.

If you are lucky enough to live near a CVS Beauty Store you’ll find TIGI available for you there on their Trend Wall. For those of us not lucky to be near one we can order online at CVS.com as well as Tigi’s Cosmetic site.

Whatever you like when you shop cosmetics can be found from TIGI – concealer, eyeshadows, foundation, lipstick and lipglosses, bronzer. Even basics like foundation primer, eye makeup remover, micellar water are available.

MARCIA loves eye makeup

At one point in my life you could look under my sink and see it loaded with TIGI BedHead products. I had so many and either used that or Vidal Sassoon. I wouldn’t budge from those. Times have changed and while I would use those products again I’ve moved on. I was excited to learn that TIGI Cosmetics was back and even though times have changed, I’m not going to stop using these.

TIGI has 4 variations of High Density Eyeshadow Quads ($24) and all are beautiful. I was very happy to receive one in Love Affair since they are the colors I crave.

TIGI High Density Eyeshadow Quad in Love Affair

Just look at those colors! Those shades are what I want to wear day in and day out. But I’d only wear them if the quality of the quad was great. And it is! I’m stoked about the intensity of the shades, how smoothly they apply, and the way they seamlessly blend.

TIGI High Density Eyeshadow Quad in Love Affair

The colors are wonderful and I’ve been wearing this quad at least once a week for the last several months. I know you are looking at it and thinking “I have that already” but you really don’t because what you don’t have is a quad that works together so perfectly that you don’t need much else in your life. What you don’t have are colors that blend so well that there are no lines of demarcation. What you don’t have is a quad that has minimal shadow fallout because the colors are so silky. What you don’t have are silky soft shades that last the entire day.

TIGI High Density Eyeshadow Quad in Love Affair

Shade 1 is a soft creamy beige. It’s a great base shade and works perfectly on my browbone especially. Shade 4 is the one you don’t expect in a neutral palette but it adds a pop of color that takes it beyond boring basics. I have often mixed shades 1 and 4 together to get a softer pink or I’ll use 4 in the crease above shade 3. This mauve-pink is a great shade.

TIGI High Density Eyeshadow Quad in Love Affair

Shades 2 and 3 are the workhorses of the quad. 2 is a beautiful taupe that I just love on my lid. Shade 3 is a darker brown but it’s not too dark. Shades 2 and 3 blend together like a dream. They were made for each other.

TIGI High Density Eyeshadow Quad in Love Affair

I also have a TIGI Precision Black Eyeliner Pen ($17) that is terrific. I know that a black liner is a black liner is a black liner. But the tip on this TIGI liquid liner is excellent. I love a thin line, especially when I’m wearing black, and that’s what I get with this liner. I can even do a flip for a cat eye which is pretty amazing since I’m not good at that normally.

TIGI Precision Black Eyeliner Pen and Love Affair eyeshadow quad

TIGI Precision Black Eyeliner Pen

If only this eyeliner pen came in brown I’d marry it. In the meantime I’m enjoying both of these eye products and want to explore more from TIGI Cosmetics. I hope more CVS stores start carrying the line.

LISA loves lipstick and gloss

I am always looking for a beautiful new lippie and TIGI Cosmetics has lots of them! I love the packaging…the lipsticks come in these gorgeous geometric silver tubes that shiny enough to work as a mirror. The lip gloss is no slouch in the packaging department either with a cool see-through cap and one of the best applicators I’ve tried.

Tigi Diamond Lipstick and Luxe Lipgloss

The TIGI Diamond Lipstick ($19) comes in eight shades. I love the texture of this lipstick – it’s super smooth and feels fantastic on the lips, lovely and buttery. Ingredients feature Shea butter, vitamin E and rose hip seed oil so it’s a very moisturizing lipstick but it still has a great wear time.

The shape of the lipstick is angled – diamond-shaped, just like the name, which helps for a more precise application. I actually wish all lipsticks were this shape. I was very pleasantly surprised at what a difference it made – I always end up flattening out the traditional bullet shaped lipstick anyway and this flat diamond shape makes precise application a piece of cake.

Tigi Diamond Lipstick in Loyalty

Tigi Diamond Lipstick in Astonish

Tigi Diamond Lipstick swatches top to bottom: Loyalty and Astonish

Loyalty is a medium matte brick-red that is truly lovely. I often have a tough time with reds turning pink on me, but this one stays true and is wonderfully wearable. I love it by itself and with the TIGI Luxe Lipgloss in Foxy over it, but I am getting ahead of myself! Astonish is a cherry red shade that has a bit of shimmer in it. I love to wear this one straight from the tube because it’s a pretty glamorous shade; or sometimes I blot it and it makes for a delightful stain that is more subtle and pretty. I want more of these lipsticks for sure – the packaging is fantastic and I am a huge fan of the texture and wear.

Tigi Luxe Lipgloss in Foxy

I am just as impressed with the Luxe Lipgloss ($17.00) as I am with the Diamond Lipstick. Luxe Lipgloss comes in eight shades and is a very hydrating and super shiny lipgloss. It has a fabulous slip – not sticky at all, and it lasts a decent amount of time for a lip gloss. This is a lip plumping gloss although it doesn’t have the ‘lip tingle’ that you get from other lip plumpers.

Luxe Lipgloss gets extremely high marks from me for the packaging. The tube is a very sturdy plastic with a super cool see-through cap. I adore the hourglass shaped applicator – it somehow hugs the lips and makes for a fabulous application.  Genius!  The Luxe Lipglosses have a vanilla scent and taste – almost like a cookie or baked good, although it’s very mild and pleasant.

Tigi Luxe Lipgloss in Foxy

Tigi Luxe Lipgloss in Foxy

Foxy is a shimmery, shiny peach. I love it. For my lips, it’s best over a lip liner or lipstick – I adore it over my Loyalty Diamond Lipstick. The contrast of the red lipstick and the peach lip gloss makes for an amazing combination. If you have pigmented lips, Foxy will be fine on its own.

So there you have it. From now on, when you think about TIGI, don’t let your mind stop at great hair care – remember the awesome cosmetics and check out these fantastic eye and lip products. We promise you won’t be sorry!!

It’s all about the eyes with Eyeko!

Many people actually do their eyes first in their makeup routine in case it’s the only thing they can get done, because if all else fails at least they have their eyes! When it comes to eye makeup, Eyeko has you covered from brows to lower lashes. Lisa and Marcia have some great recommendations today so read on to find out what makes their souls shine brightly through!

Eyeko Me & My Shadow

Lisa’s soul is shining with Eyeko Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Liner

I actually don’t have much experience with cream eyeshadows and cream eyeliners…I have oily lids so I tend to stay away from them. I use pencils and gel liners. However, Marcia raves about these so I was happy to give them a whirl and I’m glad I did. I have three of the six shades Eyeko carries. Mine are Quartz, Bronze, and Chocolate.  Other shades available are Topaz, Taupe, and Charcoal. ($25)

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in Chocolate, Quartz, Bronze

My biggest worry was that these would melt right off of my lids, especially during my workouts. All my worry was for naught – these babies stay right in place, even on leg day! They don’t crease, fade, flake, or smudge. Eye makeup remover takes them off easily, but you definitely need it. You can apply the liner directly or warm it up on the back of your hand and use the brush on the other end of the handle. The tip of the color is rounded, so this isn’t going to give you a defined line, it’s a thick band of color that you can smudge out.

Eyeko Me & My Shadow Brush

Eyeko Me & My Shadow in top to bottom: Chocolate, Quartz, Bronze

Charcoal is a matte dark brown that smudges out wonderfully. I really appreciate how this doesn’t smear – what a find! Quartz is a beautiful pinky/peach shade that does a great job of opening the eyes. It’s terrific on the brow bone as well as used to line the eyes. Bronze is a pretty medium bronze that looks amazing with hazel eyes. I use this one the most of the three. All in all, Eyeko Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Liners have won me over and now I am on a mission to get the other three colors!!

Eyeko Me & My Shadow

Marcia’s soul is shining with Eyeko mascara, eyeliners, and brow gel

Eyeko eyeliners, brow gel and mascaras

First and foremost for me are eye products. That’s what I crave and what I’m always in the mood for. So my soul was thrilled to have the opportunity to use these EYEKO products. 2 mascaras, 2 eyeliners, and 1 brow gel have been gracing my eyes the last few weeks and I’m a very happy blogger.

EYEKO BLACK MAGIC LIQUID EYELINER AND SPORT WATERPROOF EYELINER were the first products to grace my eyes. Liquid eyeliners are my favorite and the Black Magic liquid liner is quite impressive as you can easily create a thin or thick line depending on your preference. The color is a deep “carbon black” and the formula features Widelash, a conditioning Tripeptide complex designed to enhance the appearance of eyelashes. Ulta mentions that it’s waterproof though the box doesn’t say that but it doesn’t come off with water or tears. ($22)

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner

I love that the inner box reminds me that “if you can do liquid liner, you can do anything” since liquid liners are my forte. I don’t know why they are easier than a pencil for me but it must be the precision of the tip on the Eyeko liner. That’s not to say that I don’t like pencil liners and especially the SPORT WATERPOOF EYELINER PENCIL. This is truly waterproof and is great for outdoor fun, sports, and happy/sad occasions.

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Eyeliner

Eyeko obviously has a great sense of humor “Never ask a girl with winged eyeliner why she’s late” and I have to love them for understanding me so well.

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Eyeliner

The twist up pencil has a brush on the opposite end and a hidden built in sharpener so it’s great as a travel liner. It doesn’t go anywhere you don’t want it to. Making this unique is that it contains coconut oil in the formula so it applies extra easily.

Eyeko Brow Gel

Prior to trying Eyeko’s Brow Gel I really thought that most brow gels were pretty much the same but Eyeko has found a way to make there’s just that much better to change my mind. It only comes in one shade “tinted” and when I first applied it I thought it was a light brown but, with time and one more coat, it darkened and evened out my brows.

Eyeko Brow Gel

Eyeko’s nano-brush and botanically-enriched formula effortlessly defines brows for a natural finish whilst maintaining a healthy brow look with Eyeko Brow Gel. Infused with key ingredients Keratin and Gingko Biloba combined with natural proteins and multi vitamins to condition, thicken and visibily improve the appearance of your brows.
I like the small brush on it even though it doesn’t coat in one fell swoop but it also doesn’t get on my skin.

Eyeko is known for their mascara. The first time I ever heard of Eyeko was because of the raves from women loving their line of mascara. There are 9 different ones sold at Ulta which shows how ingrained the mascara line is for them. I’ve got two to recommend.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

BLACK MAGIC MASCARA is a fabulous one for drama and curl. Not only does it help hold the fake curl on my lashes with it’s curved brush but it also adds volume. It’s got everything I look for in a mascara. It’s enriched with conditioning Keratin and Shea Butter to help with lash care so you’d think it would smudge but NO!! No smudging. It has a tubing formula that can be removed with warm water though I prefer a bi-phase eye makeup remover for everything. You’ll see those little squiggly lines of mascara come off but it’s not harming your lashes at all.

from Ulta: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

Eyeko brush comparison: Black Magic and Sport

I also have SPORT WATERPROOF MASCARA which is totally different from Black Magic but works so well. The brush is really big and is so much wider than any brush I’ve seen before. I thought it would be hard to apply because of the size but surprisingly it isn’t. This is a fibre-enhanced formula boosted with collagen and fruit extracts. It adheres really well which is why it’s recommended for sports, even extreme sports. I think we should send this to our athletes in the winter Olympics!

Eyeko brush comparison: Black Magic and Sport

From Ulta: Eyeko Sport Mascara

I only wish I had beautiful (though surely photoshopped) eyes and lashes like the brand shows but if I can get better looking lashes to help enhance my tired eyes, I’ll take it.

There are many reasons we like Eyeko. This cruelty-free company doesn’t use parabens and is always looking for creative Korean technology when bringing out new products. Shop at Ulta.com, Blue Mercury, Dermstore or Nordstrom for all your eyes crave.

The French have come to the US with Vivienne Sabó cosmetics at prices we can afford

When Beauty Info Zone learned about a new line of color cosmetics that has come to the US and is priced reasonably we were more than eager to jump on board. After all how often do we find chic looking products at prices under $12? Not often enough. There are two collections that Vivienne Sabó has available and we are sharing some of the products with you today and more later.

French cosmetics are known to be the best in the world. Traditions of high quality and unique Parisian style make them the most desirable for women all over the world. I am no exception. Paris has always inspired me, fueled me with energy, put me in a creative mood. Love and romance, the celebrated French lightness of being, and a beautiful story of Parisian girl, Vivienne Sabo, deeply touched my soul and encouraged me to make her dreams come true.” – says Natalia Rakoch, brand founder.

The collections are the Cabaret with different types of mascara including colored mascara along with their eyeshadow quartets.

The second collection to know about is the Mon General with some fabulous lip products, eyeliners, and more mascara.

Mon General

We’re giving you a taste of some of the great cruelty free products from both collections. Vivienne Sabó is a star when it comes to mascara. They are one of the few companies we’ve found that has colored mascaras reasonably priced as well as a big variety of styles so you can find what you prefer. Most French mascaras you can buy in the US are department store prices so we appreciate these $12 beauties. The place to purchase these is at Harmon Drugs and many of the products are available on Amazon.

Vivienne Sabó

Besides mascara Vivienne Sabó has eyeliners in three styles as well as several eyeshadow palettes, Quartre Nuances. Of course I’ll start with an eyeshadow palette in Chocolat. Both the name and the palette are pleasing to my senses. The 4 shades are numbered and the directions inside help to create eyes the way it’s done in France.

Vivienne Sabó Chocolat Quatro Nuances

#1 is a dark shimmery chocolate is made to emphasize your eyelids. This has such incredible pigmentation to it. There’s a light golden shimmer to it. I can’t quite get enough of this shade.

#2 is a matte taupe shade that sort of looks boring in the palette but perks up on my eyes. The packaging directions say to apply shade 2 on the outer corners of your eyes and shade it along the crease. This is the shade they recommend for under your eyes too.

#3 is a golden taupe that looks darker in the palette so when the gold first appeared it surprised and delighted me! The directions show this on the upper mobile eyelid.

#4 is a creamy neutral that ties it all in together. I use it on the brow bone and it’s also recommended for the inner corners of your eyes.

Vivienne Sabó Chocolat Quatro Nuances (liners below)

All in all these 4 shades work together beautifully to create a daytime look or their smoky gorgeous Parisian look.

There’s also eyeliner to consider since I go nowhere without my eyeliner. There are three different types: 2 liquids and a pencil.

Vivienne Sabo eyeliners

I love a liquid eyeliner so I was thrilled to find Charbon ($8.99) in the package. This cruelty free liner is easy to use making either thick or thin lines. I like a thinner line and find that I get a very crisp line that doesn’t disappear on me. It’s also available in a waterproof version which would be even longer lasting and perfect for times you might begin to cry.

Vivienne Sabó Charbon liquid eyeliner

Vivienne Sabó Charbon liquid eyeliner

Most people prefer pencil eyeliners since you can smudge them and Vivienne Sabó hasn’t forgotten that. Regard Coquet is the name of this pencil and it too is a winner. It glides on easily and I have no trouble using a brush or sponge tip to smudge it. But it doesn’t smudge without your help. It’s meant to emphasize not to raccoon-ize.

Vivienne Sabó Regard Coquet pencil eyeliner

I tried two different mascaras from the collection which was neat because I could compare them side by side. I actually really like them both, but one in particular is a clear winner for me.

The first up is CABARET PREMIÈRE mascara by Vivienne Sabó. This has the type of wand I prefer – long with an easy to use brush that isn’t too bulky. I thought for sure this would be my favorite. The formula is meant for giving lashes tons of thick, dramatic volume.

The brush is actually plastic and it’s called a Hytrel brush that is meant to curl lashes. I still had to use an eyelash curler because my lashes have zero curl, so I can’t attest to the curling power of this mascara. I do like this mascara – it gives decent volume, and it doesn’t smudge or smear. I like a little more length but am willing to forgive that if the mascara doesn’t give me raccoon eyes.

Wearing Vivienne Sabo Cabaret Premiere Mascara

Here are my eyes with one coat of CABARET PREMIÈRE mascara.

Next, I tried EVENTAILLISTE mascara. I did not think this would be a favorite as the curved brush is not my thing. I have large eyes and those curved mascara brushes never quite work properly. The curved brush is meant to fan out and define lashes, and the formula is both volumizing and lengthening.

Vivienne Sabo Eventialliste Triple Effect Mascara

I am happy to report that EVENTAILLISTE mascara far exceeded my expectations! Just look at how incredible my lashes look with one coat of this mascara:

Wearing Vivienne Sabo Eventialliste Triple Effect Mascara

Eventialliste Mascara is the bomb. Ok, so the wand still isn’t my favorite…the curve doesn’t quite fit my eye, but it’s a minor quibble and I easily make it work. The formula is fantastic. I get length, I get volume, and it really does ‘fan’ out my lashes beautifully. The mascara never runs, flakes, or smears, yet it washes off easily when I want it to come off.  Great stuff, especially for just $12 a tube!!

We are really enjoying our Vivienne Sabó items and we know you will too!  Head on over to Harmon Drugs or Amazon for these chic and affordable treats.

IT Cosmetics has your eyes covered with a new liner and brow products

IT Cosmetics Brow and Eyeliner Solutions

The most important products for my eyes are eyeliner and brow products. I don’t leave the house without. Add a coat of mascara (IT Superhero of course) and I’m ready to face the world, even if they aren’t ready for me.

samplesaffiliate links

IT Cosmetics has created a new line of products that they call their solutions and they hit it right with all of these.  As a dedicated liquid eyelash liner fan this was the first of all the products that I needed to use. Then when I saw they had new brow goodies I was right there and grabbing for them.

IT Cosmetics Superhero liner, Brow Power Pomade, Brow Power Powder, Heavenly Luxe #21 brush

If you have sparse brows then IT has your beauty problem solved with new Brow Power Powder, New Brow Power Pomade, and a new Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Brush #21.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Pomade, Brow Power Powder and Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Brush #21.

IT’s new Brow Power Powder is available in one shade: Universal Transforming Taupe ($24). Even though when I swatch it the color doesn’t seem to show up, when I put it on my brows it fills in all my sparse areas and looks very natural at the same time.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Powder

I asked myself how one shade could be universal and the answer is in the pressure you use to apply it. With the wonderful new Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Transformer Brush No. 21 you decide how much color you need. My hair is dark so I apply the creamy powder with a heavy hand to build it up to the right shade.

Like all IT Cosmetics products this contains anti-aging ingredients: brow enhancing biotin, peptides, saw palmetto, argan and jojoba oils. That’s one of the main reasons I love using this so much.

The Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Transformer Brush No. 21 is a wonderful tool that I’m thrilled to have in my collection ($24).

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Brow Power Transformer Brush No. 21

The bristles give me the exact amount of control that I need. The brush is custom cut to allow you to precisely shape and define your brows. The spoolie brush end has a dual purpose. Use it prior to the powder to brush up your brows and smooth them out. Use it after to give your brows their finishing touch. As with all IT Cosmetic brushes it’s cruelty-free, animal-free and pro-hygenic. Since I started using it I haven’t touched any other brow brush in my collection.

Brow Power Pomade has the cutest little brush. It’s the perfect size for your eyebrows. I never realized before how big the other brow gels’ brushes were until I started using Brow Power Pomade. It’s the least messy gel I’ve ever used.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Pomade brush

This 4 in 1 pomade is a budge proof brow gel, a brow lifting mousse, a brow sculpting pomade and has a brow defining brush applicator. There’s no color to it so it works on all brows. IT says it’s waterproof and alcohol-free. And since it’s a treatment it contains biotin, saw palmetto, argan and jojoba oils. Why not treat as well as beautify?

Now that my brows are ready I’ve got the item I’ve been waiting forever for from IT. Superhero Liner!! I love liquid liners and that’s almost all I use. IT Superhero Liner has the place of honor on my vanity these days. ($24)

IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner

This black eyeliner is waterproof and is said to last for 24 hours. I can’t vouch for that considering I don’t leave anything on that long nor am I in the water often. But I can vouch for how great this liner applies and lasts for a normal day.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner

I’ve used a lot of liquid liners over the years and this is just about the easiest one to apply. It really glides on easily without skipping. They call the brush an “easy glide brush” which makes sense. As a brush aficionado I give the brush tip on this liner an A+. Most liners that look like this are felt tips but IT uses a brush tip that doesn’t fray.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner

It’s easy to create a thick or thin line with the liner and if you love a cat eye then this is your friend. It’s also good for your eyes since it contains peptides, biotin, collagen, keratin, and kaolin clay to absorb oil on your lids. I LOVE THIS LINER!

Superhero liner

While these are all available at Ulta Beauty, ulta.com and itcosmetics.com right now Ulta.com has a gift with purchase with a $45 IT purchase. FREE Discover IT Kit with any $45 IT Cosmetics purchase (offer valid 9/3/17-9/23/17 or while supplies last)

I’ve made no secret of my love for IT Cosmetics and it just keeps getting better and better. The new products that we’ll be sharing really do get to the root of any problems and just plain make you look and feel better.  —  Marcia

Beautiful eyes with Hikari

If you went to a website and read this: Hikari Cosmetics was founded on the principles of delivering glamorous, sophisticated makeup to women around the United States at a reasonable cost. We may be an up and coming brand, but we plan to take the makeup world to the next level of high-class! From our high-shine, vivid lip gloss collection to the perfect eye color combinations we have something for every woman to fall in love with.” wouldn’t you be intrigued? Both Lisa and Marcia were and we were excited to receive some HIKARI for review. We want to give the line a fair shake so this week it’s my turn (Marcia) and next week Lisa will share her products with you.

HIKARI eyeshadow palette, powder, liquid eyeliner

Anyone who knows me knows I’d rather have eyeshadows and eyeliners than any other cosmetic products out there. I love all cosmetics but it’s the eyes that get me going.

HIKARI Jennifer eyeshadow palette, HD Powder, and Iris Liquid Eyeliner

Hikari has 10 eyeshadow palettes that happen to be on sale as I type for only $5 each. It’s rare to find even a single eyeshadow of quality for that price but if you hurry you can get a 4 pan with great colors for just $5 (regularly $15). I have Jennifer and it’s a beauty. What I love best about this palette is the push and pull of it. Jennifer starts with colors in my comfort zone but then brings in a shade that pulls me away from that, daring me to make my eyes come alive.

HIKARI Cosmetics Jennifer Eyeshadow Palette

Jennifer contains 2 matte shadows and 2 satin shadows. These are loaded with pigment and apply with ease. I find that my eyes need an eyeshadow primer to do justice to the shades. Individual shades aren’t named on the palette but they are on the website so I’ll do my best to describe Stealth, Bellini, Magnetic, Swanky.

Hikari Jennifer shadows

Top left is a dusky blue matte shadow, top right is a light golden cream satin. Bottom left is a matte dark brownish black while bottom right there’s a golden brown.

Hikari Jennifer shadows

I use the light gold on the inner third of my eye and then under the browbone, next I apply the golden brown in the crease. Finally I’ll use the dusky blue on the very outer quarter of my eye and blend it by my lashline. I can also vary the order I use the shadows and I especially like the light gold with the dusky blue. None of these 4 shades are sold individually, just in the palette.

HIKARI Liquid Eyeliner in Iris

My camera hates close ups so excuse this very blurry shot but I wanted you to see the paint tip of their Liquid Eyeliner. What’s particularly nice about this kind of felt head is that you can get a thin line or a thicker line. HIKARI Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner is available in 5 shades:

Fawn- Brown

Slate- Gray

Indigo- Blue

Iris- Purple

Essence- Green

HIKARI Liquid Eyeliner swatches of Iris

Iris is a very deep purple that can also look brown depending on what shadows you wear with it. I like just that pop of purple instead of my typical brown. The liner is terrific since it applies so easily, just gliding on, and it has a long lasting formula so I don’t have to worry about it fading or chipping away.

HIKARI Final Touch HD Powder

The third product I have is one I’m getting a lot of use from. I had given up powders in the heat until I tired HIKARI’s Final Touch HD Powder. This is a pressed silica powder that is light as air and never looks cakey on me. The powder helps blur pores (my nemesis) and fine lines.

HIKARI Final Touch HD Powder and Beauty Junkees brushes

Using a duo fiber makeup brush like my Beauty Junkees ones gives me the light application that I’m looking for to set my makeup. I don’t normally get shiny during the day but I notice that this keeps my face from looking that way yet it’s not so matte that I look ghastly.

Hikari Cosmetics have many products that I’d love to explore. Even their foundation looks light enough for me. With the added attraction that Hikari is cruelty free and PETA certified this cosmetic brand has a lot to offer and the prices are great. Don’t wait long to take advantage of the $5 eyeshadow quads though since that will soon change.  —  Marcia

Jesse's Girl Eyeshadow Primer

Jesse’s Girl Eyeshadow Primer

The Eye Shadow Primer is very nice. It’s a silky primer that isn’t too wet. It creates a smooth canvas for eyeshadows and increases wear time. I find that when I use this, I get far less creasing, especially with cream eyeshadows.

The 9 Pan Eyeshadow Compact is nine pans of playtime. I have Dream Girl, which is a collection of super pretty neutral shades that range from creamy off white to deep shimmery brown. The one black sheep color is the deep purple shade which seems a little out of place, but it actually makes for a great addition to the slew of variations of tan, beige, and taupe.

There is everything anyone could need for a neutral eye in this palette and the deep purple and deep shimmery brown are great for lining or for some lid or crease drama. You will want to layer to get more color payoff, but hey, at this price why not go crazy??

There are four other options available, including Tickled Pink, The Eyes Have It, Brown Eyed Girl, and Behind Blue Eyes. (photos from jessesgirl.com)

The texture of these shadows vary a bit from pan to pan, but overall they are not too powdery. They go on sheer but you can build them up for more color. They blend well and wear well, especially when I wear them along with the Eye Shadow Primer. And again, at this price, you just can’t go wrong!!

Marcia’s having fun with Liquid Eyeliners ($6.99)

Jesse's Girl Liquid Eyeliners

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners

I don’t leave the house without eyeliner. It’s a necessity to me and at $6.99 each I can have as many as I’d want. That’s where Jesse’s Girl comes into play. I was sent 4 shades and promptly went out and bought 1 more, that’s how much I like them.

I wear liquid eyeliner 90% of the time with gel liners and pencils making up the other 10%. I seem to have a knack for putting them on. Even with crinkly lids at times I get a smooth straight line with these Jesse’s Girl eyeliners.

I love the point on these since they are thin yet sturdy. As long as I shake them up before use I get a steady line without skipping. And they last really well. One of my eyes tears up often at the end and they will fade there but not disappear.

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black and Dark Brown

Believe it or not it’s really hard to find a dark brown liquid eyeliner that doesn’t pull red. Everyone makes black eyeliner but not everyone makes dark brown which is what I wear most of the time. Jesse’s Girl Dark Brown Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner is one of the best I’ve found in the drugstore. Luckily the Rite Aid closest to my house has Jesse’s Girl on display so I had no trouble finding it in person.

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliners in Black, Dark Brown, Lilac (x2), Blue Hawaii and Snow White

Black has an almost patent effect so it’s shiny, Dark Brown is exactly what it should be (rich and a true brown), Lilac is just the most fun shade as it’s a very pretty purple that adds a great touch, White is a true white and one you won’t find anywhere else at this price, and Blue Hawaii looks like a true ocean blue.

Water, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, CI 77266, Butylene Glycol, Laureth -21, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoloxyethanol, Methylparaben, Dilaureth-10 Phosphate, Polysorbate 80, Propylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Ethylparaben, Disodium EDTA

If you are a novice at applying liquid eyeliner these are a perfect place to start. You want something that gives you a substantial container to hold onto and you want a brush that isn’t going to flop, bend, or smear. The tip of Jesse’s Girl is perfect IMO. I’m not a novice and I find these to be great and easy to work with.jesses girl eyeliner info
