Waxelene – a winter savior giveaway

Waxelene Lip Balm

Waxelene Lip Balm

Earlier today I did a Top Ten post about winter saviors and Waxelene was one of my choices. There’s a very good reason for that. This is a product that you need for your dry winter lips. I received it this summer and used it sporadically. I forgot about it until my first cold of the season struck. Suddenly my lips were dry and hurting. I needed relief.

Waxelene

Waxelene

Waxelene is a name that doesn’t draw me in but the product is worth overlooking that. This is an all natural lip gel that has no petroleum in it. It isn’t greasy but you can feel it on your lips. It’s very soothing. I don’t wear it under most lip colors but as soon as I’m home for the day, on it goes.

Waxelene calls themselves “the petroleum jelly alternative”. It gives you the relief that you think of with petroleum jelly but the texture is much more pleasant to use. According to their website: Waxelene® is revolutionizing skin care. It creates the same waterproof barrier that doctors recommend petroleum jelly for but contains no petroleum or hydrogenated oil. Instead we use our patented aeration process that won’t clog pores and makes Waxelene® highly effective for any kind of dry skin. Not only that, it can be used for hundreds of other things just like petroleum jelly.”

Waxelene

Waxelene

There’s no fragrance from Waxelene and it’s cruelty free. The main ingredients are Organic Soy Oil, Beeswax, Natural Vitamin E Oil and Rosemary Oil. The size I have is the lip tube ($3.99, 0.25 oz) and it also comes in a flip top tube ($4.99) as well as in jars ($8.99/2 oz and $17.99/9 oz).

2 oz jar of Waxelene

2 oz jar of Waxelene

Now why would you want a jar of this? Because it’s not just for lips. Waxelene is good for dry skin, baby bottoms, after shave, anti-chafing. removing makeup and much more. Rub it on the heels of your feet or your elbows and you’ll notice the difference within days. You can find Waxelene online or at stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond, CVS and Whole Foods.waxelene back

For this giveaway we’ll have 2 winners of a lip tube for an international giveaway. It’s a small prize but one you’ll adore if you win it. The giveaway ends on 1/11/15 at 11:59 p.m. EST. If comments close please comment on our Facebook page or email me at beautyinfozone@gmail.com so you can continue adding your Rafflecopter options. I know you’ll love this if you win or if you purchase it. — Marcia

Perfect autumn lips with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

I swear, indoor heat is the most annoying thing ever.  I have so many issues with dry skin and dry lips…my entire body becomes the Saraha Desert.

Sahara DesertI am always surrounded by tubes of various lip balms, but at night I like to give my lips a good scrubbing with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo ($25).  Now, scrubbing the lips sounds painful, and I have had some bloody lip disaster with exfoliants that are just too harsh.  But I am completely sold on the Exfoliating Lip Duo that we were sent because it gently and effectively removes any dry skin, hydrates lips, and comes in practical, smart packaging.

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

This is a dual-ended lip treatment with a sugar-based lip scrub on the bottom and a Marula Oil based solid lip oil on the other.  It is just an awesome little package with a fantastic lip scrub.  First, the lip scrub tastes delicious.  Second, just a tiny bit scrubbed onto dry lips removes all dry skin and leaves lips super smooth.  Third, you don’t even have to wash it off after – just wipe with a dry towel.

Once lips are wiped clean (I dare you not to lick them first…it really does taste wonderful!) open the top of the jar for the solid lip oil.

Exfoliating Lip Duo Solid Lip Oil

The solid lip oil is Marula Oil, a fantastic antioxidant that treats lips and helps to build collagen.  This is the perfect finishing touch for hydrated, healthy lips.

Since I started using the Exfoliating Lip Duo every night my lips couldn’t look or feel better.  It is a real winner in my book.  It’s not just a night treatment – it’s also perfect before applying lip pencil and lipstick.

Check out these tips from bodyography Creative Director and professional makeup artist, Lori Leib, on how to get your fall lipstick to last.

Step 1: Exfoliate and hydrate your lips with Bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo, this creates a beautiful base for any lip color.
Step 2: Lightly dab off the solid oil from the Exfoliating Lip Duo with a tissue after a few minutes – now your lips are prepped for color.

bodyography Rosewood Lip Liner
Step 3: Choose a smooth plum-colored lip pencil like Bodyography’s Rosewood Lip Pencil and line the outside of your lips.

bodyography Rosewood Lip Liner
Step 4: Use this same pencil to color in the entire lip.
Step 5: Take a pressed powder, I used Bodyography’s Every Finish Powder in Translucent and lightly brush some of the powder over the lip liner to create a nice matte base.

Step 6: Apply a warm plum toned lipstick like Havana Sheer Lip Stick all over the lips, blot with a tissue and apply again.
Step 7: You should now be left with a long-lasting, sexy Autumn lip!

Double the care with ChapStick Hydration Lock

I love products that do more than one thing, and ChapStick’s newest product, Hydration Lock ($2.99), is doubly good.  ChapStick sent us their Moisture & Renew and Day & Night versions to try, and in this case being two-faced is a good thing.

The Hydration Lock Dual-Ended Balms are two lip balms in one, with a different formula on each end.

The Dual-Ended Hydration Lock Moisturize & Renew is all about hydrating and treating for the best anti-aging results.  The Moisturize side has antioxidant CoQ10 and hyaluronic spheres, and leaves lips soft and silky.  This side has a slight vanilla flavor.  The Renew side has shea and mango butters, and tastes a little fruity.  I like to layer these for the full treatment.  Lips definitely look healthier with less fine lines when I use it.

The Dual-Ended Hydration Lock Day & Night has skin protection on one side, and tons of moisturizers on the other.  This is the perfect ChapStick to have in your purse at all times.  The Day side has SPF 12 and no flavoring.  The Night side has shea and mango butters for conditioning lips, plus tamanu and coconut oil to soften and treat.  It doesn’t have much flavor, but it does smell like chamomile.

I love the packaging for these ChapSticks.  They are really convenient and definitely give 24 hour care for the lips.  You can find these in person and online at most major drugstores.  – Lisa

Fighting vertical lip lines with Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck

So what do you find has aged the most rapidly on you over the years?  Your hands?  How about your neck?  For me, there’s no question…it’s my lips.  I have those darn hereditary vertical lip lines.  My mom has them, my grandma had them…and now I have them.  I’m not going to lie, I know I will eventually turn to something along the lines of Juvaderm or lasers to get rid of them.  But in the meantime, I do everything I can to stop their progression.  Osmotics Cosmeceuticals sent me their Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck ($35) to try, and with my lip issues they had me at hello.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck

So what the heck is Blue Copper 5?  Copper peptides are amino acids bound with a copper element.  They have been found to be quite effective in healing wounds, fighting wrinkles, and smoothing skin.  Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck combines copper peptides with hyaluronic acid for mega hydration and anti-aging, with some macadamia oil thrown in for even more moisture.

How could anyone not try this??

How could anyone not try this??

Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck has a fantastic slip and feel, leaving lips extremely hydrated.  I put this on very generously and am sure to also apply the Natural shade to my vertical lip lines as well.  I just can’t tell you how fabulous my lips feel with this treatment.  Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck comes in three colors:  Natural, Golden Nectar, and Cognac.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Natural

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Natural

Natural looks blue on the wand, but it goes on clear.  I go crazy with this one…it seems like the more I put on, the happier my lips are and my lip lines are much less noticeable.  This isn’t like other blue-tinted glosses that makes teeth look whiter, but the moisturizing effect is amazing.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Golden Nectar

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Golden Nectar

Golden Nectar is a very subtle peachy shade, but it also has some shimmer so it makes lips look more lush.  I love this over lip liner because I get the color from the liner, the shimmer and shine from the gloss, and the moisture and plumping from the hyaluronic acid and macadamia oil.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Cognac

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck in Cognac

Cognac is a very pretty soft red shade that provides color while also delivering the same moisture and treatment.  This is a lovely shade that would complement any skin tone, with just the right amount of pigmentation for a great pop of color.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck swatched, left to right: Cognac, Golden Nectar, Natural

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck swatched, left to right: Cognac, Golden Nectar, Natural

With all the fabulous moisture, my lip lines are most certainly less noticeable and pronounced.  My lips look more full, and they feel soft and smooth.  This lip treatment may not ‘cure’ my lip lines, but I do believe they keep them from getting worse.  And until I can afford a $3000 liquid face lift, I am happy to at least keep the status quo.

Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip and Tuck is non-comedogenic, and has no artificial colors or fragrances.  You can find Osmotics at high-end department stores like Saks and Nordstrom, as well as online at Osmotics.com.  – Lisa

Recover seductive lips with Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm

Cooler weather is moving in, which means chapped lips could be in your future.  Now is the time to do some prevention so you don’t have to do triage later.  I have been in major prevention mode with Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm ($65, product sample), and it is the ultimate in luxury for lips.

Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm

Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm

Natura Bisse is a line that feels like fabulous indulgence in every way.  Just opening a Natura Bisse box makes me feel like I am wearing Louboutin heels and Bulgari diamonds whilst sipping Krug 1928 Champagne and luxuriating in a Chanel bubble bath.  I have read fantastic things about Natura Bisse Eye Recovery Balm, so I was hoping the Lip Recovery Balm would be just as great.  It certainly is different from any other lip balm I’ve ever tried…and it is wonderful.

I guess I am used to slick balms that make my lips feel all slippery, so at first I was taken aback by the texture of the Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm.  It doesn’t make lips slick, instead it ‘polishes’ them and gives a smooth, sleek look and feel.  It definitely hydrates and softens lips, and carob extract keeps lips from chapping.  Other ingredients include Opuntia Ficus extract for regenerating damaged skin, as well as aloe vera, Rosa Mosqueta, mango and shea butter, amaranth seeds and vitamin F to plump lips and increase elasticity.

The smooth texture makes Natura Bisse Lip Recovery Balm a perfect base for lip liner and lipstick, and it helps keep color from migrating into fine lines.  Since it isn’t shiny, your guy will also love it and kissing will be that much more enjoyable!

This is definitely one of the pricier lip treatments available, but the jar lasts a long time and the results are terrific.  If this is in your budget, I highly recommend it.  Louboutins, Bulgari diamonds and Krug 1928 Champagne are optional!  – Lisa

Be good to your skin with Eco Beauty Be Good Skin Care

I’ve adored the La Fresh line (they feature different types of portable beauty wipes for travel) for years.  The Sunscreen Wipes, Makeup Remover Wipes, and Lens & Screen Cleaning Wipes have saved me more times that I can begin to count.  So when La Fresh contacted the BIZ offering samples of their new anti-aging skin care line called Eco Beauty Be Good, I was very interested.  The concept behind this skin care line is “to make chic, effective products that are good for your skin while being conscientious about the environment.”

Hello Lip Treat

Hello Lip Treat

The Eco-Beauty Be Good packaging definitely had me at ‘Hello’.  Inside each box is an inspirational saying:

Eco Beauty: The best is yet to come.

Eco Beauty: The best is yet to come.

Eco Beauty: Good things are going to happen.

Eco Beauty: Good things are going to happen.

I just love this!  And since I tested a daytime moisturizer and a night moisturizer, it was a wonderfully positive way to begin and end every day.

love the messaging on the boxes and jars!

Good Day. Day Moisturizer ($40) has a whole slew of ingredients that moisturize and repair skin, including peptides, hyaluronic acid, natural cucumber, aloe, antioxidant panthenol (vitamin B), and vitamins C and E.

This creamy moisturizer comes in a jar, so resist sticking fingers in to get product.  Even hands you think are squeaky clean can have lingering bacteria, and that last thing you want is to contaminate your moisturizer.  Use a little spatula of some sort to scoop out what you need.  I have been known to break the nails off a nail wheel to use as a makeshift spatula.  Good Day, Day Cream is a thick, fragrance-free moisturizer that hydrates and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  It does not have sunscreen, so you’ll want a separate product for that.  This moisturizer improves collagen production, so skin looks fresh and younger.

Good Night. Night Cream ($40) is an evening moisturizer that has great anti-aging ingredients like peptides and hyaluronic acid, along with the mega-hydration of natural shea butter and skin healing aloe.

Eco Beauty good night. Night Cream

Again, this is a jar, so don’t give into temptation and keep those fingers outta there!  Good Night, Night Cream is thicker than Good Day, Day Moisturizer.  It has no discernible fragrance.  While it has some similar ingredients as the day cream for fighting wrinkles, this provides powerful hydration that is best for combination or dry skin.  I have combination skin, so I pat this on my dry areas (cheeks and forehead) at night for powerful plumping action.

Hello. Lips Treat ($10) is a lip balm that moisturizes and plumps lips with oligopeptides, shea butter, and cocoa butter.  It also has an oil blend of sweet almond, jojoba, peppermint and cinnamon oils.  Most lips will love this, but the peppermint and cinnamon can be a skin irritant for some.

hello soft, smooth lips!

hello soft, smooth lips!

The ogliopeptides are awesome for supporting collagen production, so regular use of this lip balm can make lips more full and lush.

I love the message from La Fresh – besides using Eco-Beauty products, they recommend that you ‘exercise modestly, drink plenty of water, eat healthy meals, sleep enough hours, hug often & smile more.’  It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Other products available in the Eco-Beauty Be Good line include Good Start. Face Serum, Good Bye. Face Cleansing Wipes, and Good Times. Facial Treatment Cloth Masks. All Eco-Beauty Be Good products are free of parabens, sulfates, triclosan, dyes, PEGs, artificial fragrances and animal byproducts. Be good to your skin and the environment and take a look at Eco-Beauty Be Good!  – Lisa

Lisa’s Side:

YBF Define

YBF Define

Define ($70) is a moisturizer specifically for the lip area. It treats wrinkles and helps lips appear more full. This isn’t  your typical stinging, irritating lip plumper. It’s an elegantly formulated moisturizer full of antioxidants and brighteners. I loved the old version and now YBF has released a new and improved version.

YBF Define 2

airless pump

airless pump

The new Define is an even better version of their already fantastic lip cream. It still comes in the same total perfection packaging – that airless pump couldn’t be improved in any way! Here’s what is new…and what is still there from the earlier version:

(new to the formula)
Matrixyl Synthe-6
Syn-Hycan
TegoPep 4-Even
(continuing to use in the formula)
Syn-Tacks
Hilurip

We’ve also added these botanicals to Define:
Quercetin
Licorice Leaf Extract
Rosehip Seed Oil

And we added these antioxidants and vitamins:
B6 (coenzyme B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate)
CoQ10

this feels SO GOOD on the lips!

If you have thinning lips, wrinkles, or loss of definition around the lip area, you need Define. I am amazed at the terrific results I get with this, particularly in terms of lessening those horrid vertical wrinkles. I definitely notice a difference in how my lipstick wears – lipstick bleed is much, much less of an issue for me. The formula is just full of excellent botanicals and peptides that moisturize lips and increase collagen, making for fuller, younger looking lips.

I massage a little of this in every single morning, and at night I put on extra as a ‘lip mask’. I find myself putting some on during the day too, just because the soft and silky lip cream feels so darn good. Define is really and truly great stuff and I can’t recommend it highly enough – it is perfection for prevention or for treatment of the lip area!

Marcia’s Side:
YBF Quench and Define

YBF Quench and Define

I totally agree with everything Lisa wrote about YBF Define. Not only does it come from a company we love and respect but it does what it says. Sadly for both of us, our lips are getting thinner as we age. Using Define helps us stop time in its track.

Quench Lip Treatment ($15) is the perfect sidekick to Define. I’ve used Quench for years but now there’s a newer version. Just like Define was updated, so was Quench Lip Treatment. This is a softer version so that it’s easier to apply.

YBF didn’t just stop at making this more comfortable for lips, they added in more antioxidants for protection.

YBF Quench

There are 3 things that Quench Lip Treatment does: Heal, Refresh and Protect.
HEAL: this contains Vitamin E, meadowfoam and blueberry seed oils to make your lips more supple. Softer lips, softer kisses.
REFRESH: YBF uses the gentlest form of vitamin C they could find in order to make your lips a little brighter and to boost the collagen level. They also use some peppermint and clementine oils to wake up your lips and give them a slight tingle when you first apply it. No stinging allowed though, it’s just to refresh not to jolt you out of your seat.
PROTECT: pharmaceutical-grade beeswax is used in Quench to seal in moisture. You want your lips protected from environmental factors so all these ingredients and antioxidants help do that job.

You are going to love having two Quench Lip Treatments if you are one of our winners – one for home, one for your purse. You’ll be reaching for this often. There’s a reason the company’s name stands for Your Best Face – products that work and keep you looking and feeling your best.
