Go for natural beauty with Good Earth Beauty’s Beauty Box

I read complaints all the time about beauty boxes for several reasons: there aren’t any boxes for natural beauty lovers; I don’t need a new box every month; there are so many products that would come that I wouldn’t use. Forget all that because there’s a beauty box in town that has shot these all down. That box is from Good Earth Beauty. I’m very impressed with the way they run the box program. You pick exactly which box/es you want. You pick when they should come. You pick the variety you like best. And there are often new boxes that will tempt you.                                               *pr sample

Good Earth Beauty Japanese Cherry Blossom Shampoo and Conditioner

Good Earth Beauty Japanese Cherry Blossom Shampoo and Conditioner

Good Earth Beauty has created 8 different scents in their shampoo and conditioner line. You can purchase any of these 8 fragrances for $2.50 each in sample sizes (Mint Mojito, Pumpkin Chai, Bamboo Flower, Coconut, Coconut Lime, Cranberry Citrus, Kiwi Lemon Basil and Japanese Cherry Blossom). While I’ve only used the Japanese Cherry Blossom that was in my set I can tell you that not only does it smell delicious but the shampoo and conditioner left my hair soft and well-cleansed without stripping it of natural oils. This fragrance is considered their moisturizing one and my hair appreciated it. (Value in box $5)

Good Earth Beauty Vitamin C Normal Skin Facial Cleanser

Good Earth Beauty Vitamin C Normal Skin Facial Cleanser

The Good Earth Beauty cleanser in my box is the Vitamin C Facial Cleanser for normal skin. There are 3 cleansers that Good Earth creates: Vitamin C for normal, Sugar Cleanser for oily skin, and Aloe & Honey for dry skin. “this Botanical Gel Wash is exactly what you have been looking for. Plant actives enrich this inspired formula with healing components. Plant lipids sooth and protect the upper dermal layers for a desirable washing experience….every day! Aloe Vera heals all that ails you skin wise…and coconut and sugar derived surfactants gently wash away the grime and goop of daily living for a fresh new start..” As someone with normal to dry skin this is a great cleanser for me. The fragrance is a light lemon one, a favorite of mine. (You can buy the samples for $2.50)

Good Earth Beauty Mint Mojito hair and body wash

Good Earth Beauty Mint Mojito hair and body wash

The delicious smelling Hair and Body Wash in my box is Mint Mojito. This minty lime smells so much like the drink. Good Earth Beauty says it’s enough for 3 uses but I’ve already gotten 4 uses out of it and will get at least one more. There are 7 flavors of this: Mint Mojito, Chocolate Amour, coconut, cranberry citrus, Honey Almond, Strawberry Margarita and Warm Vanilla. (Hungry or thirsty yet??). If I was willing to share then my husband would love this as a hair and body wash but I haven’t told him even though I’ve been using it as a body wash. (Samples sold for $2.50)

Like all Good Earth Beauty products these are all free of parabens, pesticides, petroleum, propylene glycol, phthalates, sulfates, and artificial colors.

Good Earth Beauty No Nonsense Non-Scents Soap

Good Earth Beauty No Nonsense Non-Scents Soap

No Nonsense Non-Scents soap is one of 7 that Good Earth Beauty creates. This fragrance free soap contains Saponified Organic Oils of olive, coconut, and palm plus shea butter. I always have a a bar of soap at each of my sinks as well as a liquid soap and this is a great choice. It keeps my hands from drying out with its moisturizing ingredients. ($8)

Good Earth Beauty Chocolate Lip Scrub

Good Earth Beauty Chocolate Lip Scrub

If I didn’t convince you in my previous Good Earth Beauty Lip Scrub review then this is the perfect opportunity to drill this into your head. OMG Chocolate! I love the other flavors but you know a chocoholic is going to go nuts for this one. This is a sugar scrub that you really want to just lick off your lips but wait until it’s done its job first. Scoop out a little and rub your lips with it. It feels a tiny bit oily at first but that’s just the way it moisturizes. After exfoliating you’re allowed to lick your lips but you’re going to want to go back again and again to do this! Total yum and available separately in 7 flavors. ($8.25) Ingredients: sugar, organic sunflower oil, organic coconut oil, organic almond oil, organic shea butter, organic jojoba oil, and flavor.

Good Earth Beauty Warm Vanilla Candy Perfume

Good Earth Beauty Warm Vanilla Candy Perfume

This tiny roll on bottle brings delicious concentrated fragrance. This beauty box seems to only have this scent available but in total Good Earth Beauty has 16 samples available for $3.99 each. These are made by Mod Fragrance exclusively for Good Earth Beauty. Ingredients include Olive Oil, Squalene, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Grapeseed Oil, Natural Orchid Extract, Pure Essential Oils and/or Natural Fragrance Oils.

Good Earth Beauty Beginner's Beauty Box

Good Earth Beauty Beginner’s Beauty Box

While you can always put together your own sampler box with Good Earth Beauty you will save money by purchasing this for $23 and free shipping. It’s a $30.25 value so it’s like getting the soap for free. Good Earth Beauty also has a variety of boxes like a Chocolate Lovers box, a Coffee Lovers box and a Pumpkin box. There’s no end to the wonders of these boxes and you aren’t bound to a subscription. Buy what you want, when you want. —  Marcia

Put your money where your mouth is with Apa Beauty

My favorite summer look? A long, wispy white dress with sky blue sandals, beachy waves, a deep tan…and a super white smile.

I can buy the dress and the sandals (at Shopbophere and here) – and I can get the tan with some great self tanner – but the teeth? I need some help. Luckily there are a few products by Apa Beauty that definitely do the trick!

pr samples

Apa BeautyApa Beauty is a line of oral care and beauty products created by the celebrity cosmetic dentist Dr. Michael Apa.The packaging is sleek and white, just like your teeth will be after using the products.

Apa BeautyI am fascinated with all of the really cool products in this line and I tried a trio of items that make for a great summer smile: Apa Lip Loofah ($18), Apa Tooth Gloss ($28), and Apa Blue Lip Shine ($25).

Apa Beauty Lip Loofah

Apa Beauty Lip Loofah

I have a love/hate relationship with lip exfoliators. I love how soft my lips are after using them, but I usually hate the feel of them. They are either too gentle to make much difference or else they are too rough and are painful to use.

The Apa Beauty Lip Loofah impresses the heck out of me – this is a lip scrub to love! It’s super gentle but it gives excellent results. I use a tiny bit with some water and softly scrub in small circles, then rinse and voila – soft, moist lips that are super smooth. The scrubby stuff is made from sugar and sweet almond seed, and the moisturizing stuff includes Jojoba oil, shea butter and orange peel.

Apa Beauty Tooth Gloss

Apa Beauty Tooth Gloss

The biggest surprise for me out of the three products I tested is the Apa Beauty Tooth Gloss. I never thought for a moment that this would be anything I would use regularly – it seemed like something models or beauty pageant participants would use instead of Vaseline on their teeth to keep smiling.  But this tooth gloss does so much more:

  • LIGHT REFLECTING GLOSS BRIGHTENS TEETH FOR A BEAUTIFUL SMILE
  • ANTIOXIDANT GREEN TEA COMBATS BACTERIA AND BAD BREATH
  • SAFFLOWER SEED AND JOJOBA OIL NOURISH TEETH AND GUMS
  • PEPPERMINT OIL FIGHTS GERMS AND FRESHENS BREATH
  • RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN COMBINATION WITH APA LIP LOOFAH AND APA BLUE LIP SHINE FOR DAILY RADIANCE CARE

I don’t think I’ve ever tested anything quite like this light-reflecting gloss. It makes teeth look whiter and keeps breath fresh. It’s not slimy or weird feeling on…in fact, it’s really pleasant. It does make teeth look whiter and feels better than breath mints which actually minimize shiny teeth.  I keep it in my purse and apply it every so often. What a great and unique find.

Apa Beauty Blue Lip Shine

Apa Beauty Blue Lip Shine

Apa Beauty Blue Lip Shine swatch

Apa Beauty Blue Lip Shine swatch

I’ve had great results with blue lip gloss in the past and the Apa Beauty Blue Lip Shine does its job by making teeth look even whiter. It doesn’t really add color to lips – just shine with a slight tint thanks to minty blue crystals. I like the feel of this gloss, although I wish it lasted longer. I find I need to reapply it often to keep the effect.

Overall, I really like this trio for keeping my summer smile as white as possible. Apa Beauty has all kinds of other great products for keeping teeth white, so head over to their website at apabeauty.com to check them out.  – Lisa

A lip smacking giveaway with Good Earth Beauty Lip Scrubs

Once upon a time a maiden was searching for a shop that she could trust. One that carried natural products. One that was known for using organic ingredients. She believed that the items she used should be cruelty free and good for her. In her search she came upon Good Earth Beauty and knew that this was the start of a ‘happily ever after’.

As she was traveling her lips felt awfully dry. She knew that they were dehydrated since they didn’t feel smooth and she even had some lip peeling. This wouldn’t do but luckily she found that Good Earth Beauty had an exclusive set of products – exfoliating lip scrubs. They sounded pretty darn good. There were 7 individual lip scrubs ($8.25 each) but they also came in a set of 3 ($22) with chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla flavors. It reminded her of Neopolitan ice cream which she always loved. That sounded perfect and she asked her friend Marcia to test these out.

But then again there was strawberry and it’s not summer without strawberry. The fragrance of this was enough for her to want a bowl of fruit instantly. She couldn’t choose just one so this trio is wonderful.

Perfect autumn lips with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

I swear, indoor heat is the most annoying thing ever.  I have so many issues with dry skin and dry lips…my entire body becomes the Saraha Desert.

Sahara DesertI am always surrounded by tubes of various lip balms, but at night I like to give my lips a good scrubbing with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo ($25).  Now, scrubbing the lips sounds painful, and I have had some bloody lip disaster with exfoliants that are just too harsh.  But I am completely sold on the Exfoliating Lip Duo that we were sent because it gently and effectively removes any dry skin, hydrates lips, and comes in practical, smart packaging.

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

This is a dual-ended lip treatment with a sugar-based lip scrub on the bottom and a Marula Oil based solid lip oil on the other.  It is just an awesome little package with a fantastic lip scrub.  First, the lip scrub tastes delicious.  Second, just a tiny bit scrubbed onto dry lips removes all dry skin and leaves lips super smooth.  Third, you don’t even have to wash it off after – just wipe with a dry towel.

Once lips are wiped clean (I dare you not to lick them first…it really does taste wonderful!) open the top of the jar for the solid lip oil.

Exfoliating Lip Duo Solid Lip Oil

Exfoliating Lip Duo Solid Lip Oil

Exfoliating Lip Duo Solid Lip Oil

The solid lip oil is Marula Oil, a fantastic antioxidant that treats lips and helps to build collagen.  This is the perfect finishing touch for hydrated, healthy lips.

Since I started using the Exfoliating Lip Duo every night my lips couldn’t look or feel better.  It is a real winner in my book.  It’s not just a night treatment – it’s also perfect before applying lip pencil and lipstick.

Check out these tips from bodyography Creative Director and professional makeup artist, Lori Leib, on how to get your fall lipstick to last.

Step 1: Exfoliate and hydrate your lips with Bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo, this creates a beautiful base for any lip color.
Step 2: Lightly dab off the solid oil from the Exfoliating Lip Duo with a tissue after a few minutes – now your lips are prepped for color.

bodyography Rosewood Lip Liner
Step 3: Choose a smooth plum-colored lip pencil like Bodyography’s Rosewood Lip Pencil and line the outside of your lips.

bodyography Rosewood Lip Liner
Step 4: Use this same pencil to color in the entire lip.
Step 5: Take a pressed powder, I used Bodyography’s Every Finish Powder in Translucent and lightly brush some of the powder over the lip liner to create a nice matte base.

bodyography Every Finish Powder
Step 6: Apply a warm plum toned lipstick like Havana Sheer Lip Stick all over the lips, blot with a tissue and apply again.
Step 7: You should now be left with a long-lasting, sexy Autumn lip!

Side by Side – h.wood.beauty

h.wood.beauty is the kind of brand that Marcia and Lisa just love to discover. There are so many interesting companies on the market but none beat h.wood.beauty for its inspiration: h.wood.tea. The brand hails from Hollywood and was inspired by h.wood.tea which was developed for the exclusive VIP tea room of Hollywood nightclub h.wood. We were lucky enough to try out several of h.wood.beauty’s products, many of which are tea-spiked. In the words of h.wood.beauty “we believe that makeup isn’t about looking flawlessly polished, it’s about celebrating yourself.” So Marcia and Lisa go Side by Side to celebrate ourselves and this great line.

MARCIA’S SIDE:

Knowing that h.wood beauty is known for their tea inspiration I was really excited to try out the Lip Tea Scrub. Not only is this an organic product but it’s handmade locally (California locally) and is infused with tea. I have the absolutely luscious BEAUTY BLEND: GREEN APPLE. This simple scrub is made with organic sugar. It’s smells and tastes heavenly. I apply it with my fingertips and massage it in. You can wipe it off but why do that when you can lick it off!! It makes the experience even better! Apples are good for tired and stressed out skin and green apples, in particular, give skin a toned glow. It’s easy as pie to use and leaves no sticky residue. My lips look less lined and more rejuvenated after using this and it doesn’t interfere with lip products at all, only enhances them.

The Lip Tea Scrubs are available in 8 blends. If you feel the need to detox there are two you can choose from (Gingergrass and Vanilla Caramel). If you want an energy blend there are another two (Coconut Chai and Peppermint Anise). Pom-Rose is an anti-aging blend that sounds wonderful because it has anti-inflammatory and soothing benefits). There’s also Blood Orange and Champagne Rose currently available beside the luscious Green Apple that I’m using. These are $20 each and mine seems to last and last.

I also have been using h.wood beauty Cream Blush (no surprise to anyone who reads my reviews). Mine is called Marigold and it’s the sweetest peach shade. This is a matte cream which is unusual in the world of cream blushes. It’s paraben free and easy to apply. I use my fingers with this and just pat it onto my cheeks and even my lips sometimes. If I want to intensify the color, I layer more on since it builds up. I didn’t really have another blush in a color like this so it makes a great addition to my summer cosmetic wardrobe. It also comes in Azalea and Snapdragon.

LISA’S SIDE:

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!  You tried some beautiful products, but you are going to be so jealous when you read about the fabulous finds that I was able to check out.

Just look at this GORGEOUS eyeshadow, the name is Robertson.  Click on the picture for an even larger look and prepare to drool.

Could it be any more stunning???  It’s a beautiful, complex, shimmering light gray.  If you have deep set, hooded eyes like me it’s the perfect lid color to make the eyes *POP*.

The eyeshadow is highly pigmented, and it has terrific lasting power.  It looks almost as vibrant 8 hours later as it does when I first put it on.

And did I mention that the texture is like BUTTER?  I am so excited about this eyeshadow I can’t believe it.  It’s just plain awesome, and while $16 is a little pricey, the pan is huge.  This is a total winner.  I think I’ve worn the past ten days in a row…a record for me!

Speaking of winners, another one from h.wood.beauty is the  lip gloss ($16.00).

Meet Napa, described as a deep plum wine color.  It has beautiful gold shimmer in it.

You can see from the swatch that it looks like a deep color, but like most reds it turns rather pink on me.  Not that that’s a bad thing…but it does go to show how different colors react to different body chemistry.

Above is with inside lighting, where it looks more pink than it does outside.  Below is outside, and you can really see the tiny shimmers.

This fabulous lip gloss has a doe foot applicator, which I love.  It also dries down to a stain, and a pretty one, it doesn’t look all dry and icky.  The texture is smooth, not sticky, and it has a faint vanilla flavor.  I love, love, love it.

Here’s my h.wood.beauty look, with Roberston eyeshadow and Napa lip gloss.  This is a fantastic, fascinating line and I for one cannot wait to try even more things.  It’s a line worth investigating, no question.

Besides buying h.wood beauty online you can find it at a variety of boutiques and spas here. What a delicious find for us and for you! – Marcia and Lisa
