Le Metier de Beaute has the best gwp ever! Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute LE Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute LE Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

From June 5th to the 15th Neiman Marcus is again having Camp Gorgeous. Most brands will be doing GWP but only Le Metier de Beaute will have an amazing LE Eye Kaleidoscope with all new colors. You can only receive this by purchasing $250 in LMdB products at a store or by calling a Le Metier makeup artist. My personal artists are Kim and Venus at the NM counter in Troy, Michigan at 248-643-3300 extension 2104. They provided this press sample so I could share this with our readers.

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope (LE)

I’ve reviewed a lot of Le Metier de Beaute since I first discovered the line on a vacation. When it came to my Neiman Marcus store I was the first in line to buy products. I’m still there buying and am excited to hear that they will soon be coming out with new single eyeshadows.

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope

Let me tell you about Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope. Le Metier developed their first ever eyeshadow primer and it’s on the bottom of this LE Kaleidoscope. It is a weightless creamy primer that will make all of your shadows last and last. It has a slight pearlized look to it. I’m particularly thrilled about this since I feel this was a big lack in the LMdB line.

Just above the primer is Mocha Sheen which LMdB compares to Corinthian (my favorite shade) but lighter and more vivid. It’s a taupe that is light reflecting. The color is absolutely gorgeous and will more than likely be my all time favorite Le Metier taupe eyeshadow.

Rich Orchid is compared to Fig/Alexandrite but is actually more magenta than either of those. I’ve learned not to be afraid of these brighter shades by Le Metier since their products are meant to be layered using their Couches de Couleur application technique. My swatch was done very heavily but the color doesn’t translate this dark once on eyes. And it’s perfect for layering with Mocha Sheen (and other LMdB shadows).

The very top layer has another new product, actually two since it’s a double pan of a black and a plum orchid eyeliner that can be used wet or dry.

My Le Metier de Beaute limited edition Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope arrived at 8 p.m. so I ran outside and did pictures ASAP and I realize now I swatched very heavily. These will be lighter and brighter in real life. The colors are fabulous and I can’t wait to get the opportunity to wear this.

With your purchase you’ll also receive the Camp Gorgeous bag of treats:camp gorgeousA Kaleidoscope is always $95 so this GWP is the best that they’ve ever done and the best I’ve seen in many many moons. I’m totally impressed with the quality and amazing colors in this. Now remember you can’t just buy this. You need to go to Neiman Marcus or call (Kim or Venus at 248-643-3300 extension 2104. Please tell them you saw this on Beauty Info Zone too) and purchase $250 in Le Metier de Beaute products. Then you too can be the owner of Camp Gorgeous’ most gorgeous product. — Marcia

Favorite Illuminators with Makeup Wars

Makeup Wars Illuminators galore

Makeup Wars Illuminators galore

Welcome to the Illuminator edition of Makeup Wars. When I first started thinking about what to include I came up with about 4 items. My mind became blank. I started combing through my drawers and lo and behold, what did I see? Illuminators galore. Winter had dulled my mind and obviously my face because I was only using a few of these. But now that they are all out in their glory I guess it’s time to share them with you and start using these again.

It Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Powder, It Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Cream, Face Stockholm Highlighter Dignity

It Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Powder, It Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Cream, Face Stockholm Highlighter Dignity

The very first items that came to my mind were It Cosmetics two Illuminating ones. Since receiving these I’ve gotten a lot of use out of them. I first reviewed Hello Light Illuminating Powder and later Hello Light Creme Illuminator. I get the most use out of the cream but as you can see from my pictures, I’m a creamy type of woman. Another great illuminator is the Face Stockholm highlighter in Dignity. (I know I’m supposed to stick to illuminating but there’s very little difference).

MAC Beauty Powder in Pretty Baby, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, MAC Lightscape Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC Beauty Powder in Pretty Baby, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC Lightscapade Skinfinish

MAC Lightscapade Skinfinish

The next item that came to mind is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. My guess is that any of the Makeup Wars bloggers who own this (or individual Ambient Light powders) will be including this. It’s become a classic in a very short time. The two MAC products are actually just examples of the many from MAC that I own. MAC Skinfinishes, especially, are great illuminating tools and Lightscapade is the best of the bunch for someone older since there’s no glitter. I’m sorry to say you won’t be able to purchase any of these but more will come along someday.

Dex Mineral Illuminator, Maskcara Illuminator, Le Metier de Beaute Refresh powder

Dex Mineral Illuminator, Maskcara Illuminator, Le Metier de Beaute Refresh powder

Happily you can buy all 3 of these items. These are totally different and not interchangeable. First there’s Dex Mineral Illuminator. I bought this on a whim at an IMATS show mainly because my friend fell in love with it. I thought it would be a substitute for YSL Touche Eclat but it’s more yellow and glowy. MaskCara Illuminator came as part of the MaskCara set I bought but you can buy it separately. It’s actually the one product I keep using and would recommend from this new line. Le Metier de Beaute’ Refresh powder is a very subtle illuminator that I use under my eyes as a last step. It can be used on your eyes too. It does what it says and helps refresh your undereye area.

Dex and MaskCara illuminator swatches

Dex and MaskCara illuminator swatches

MaskCara Illuminator is very white and does a nice subtle job of highlighting once it’s blended in. MaskCara’s philosophy is that you HAC – Highlight, Accent and Contour. I’m not sure why her Illuminator isn’t called Highlighter if that’s the case.

Smashbox Artificial Lights, MAC Gleam Coat, Chanel Pur Brilliance

Smashbox Artificial Lights, MAC Gleam Coat, Chanel Pur Brilliance

Sorry but here are some more discontinued items. I’ve had a thing for liquid illuminators obviously. Smashbox Artificial Lights came in several shades and I still have 2. I like to either mix them with a little foundation for when I’m looking wan or use them on cheekbones to brighten. MAC Gleam Coat has a light bronze cast so it’s perfect for someone as fair as I am who doesn’t do any sort of tanning. It’s pretty in the summer when everyone else is glowing. The Chanel Pur Brilliance are sheer with light reflecting pigments. They are fragrance free which is amazing for Chanel so I never got rid of them.

Benefit High Beam, Benefit Moon Beam, Inglot Illuminators

Benefit High Beam, Benefit Moon Beam, Inglot Illuminators

Benefit High Beam and Moon Beam are products I’ve had forever and still bring out occasionally. They’ve always been top sellers for Benefit and have made many a “best of” list. Inglot has quite a few Face and Body Illuminators which aren’t a typical illuminator. They are more like a liquid blush that’s glowy. I stuck them in mainly to show that Illuminators can come in all colors.

Armani Fluid Sheers

Armani Fluid Sheers

My last picture is of my beloved Armani Fluid Sheers. I prefer the earliest ones because they were less shimmery. Fluid Sheers are products I never could resist. The ones on the left are my newest ones which aren’t see through. The packaging has been changed since I indulged in these. The ones above are #7, #0, #7 again, and #1. (I didn’t realize there were two #7 because they aren’t the same exact shade when on).

My brainstorming of 4 items (It Cosmetics, Hourglass and Dex) quickly grew and grew. Now that I see them all together I know I need to resist what my fellow Makeup Wars bloggers are going to be tempting you and I with! Do you see any Illuminators above you have? Or want? — Marcia

*all items are personal purchases except for It Cosmetics where are PR samples

Top Ten Tuesdays returns with palettes we love

Top Ten Beauty always brings a bit of anxiety. What if I leave something out? What if I put something in and then change my mind? What if when I read all the other posts I see something that makes me slap my face and wonder why I haven’t use that in so long?
I’ve picked 9 palettes that I use all the the time and rely on plus one major wishlist palette.
1. Marc Jacobs The Starlet – I’m sure this surprises absolutely no one who has read Beauty Info Zone. I’m crazy about The Starlet (and The Vamp) and think this line was a great addition to the makeup world. Marc Jacobs takes me from my typical staid and brings out the makeup artist I used to be.
2. Sephora+Pantone Universal Precious Metals Shadow Palette – this wasn’t a very popular palette but I love it and pull it out all the time. The shadows are a mix of quality but in general they are well pigmented. There are so many shades I can count on when I need a certain “something”. Unfortunately it’s discontinued but things do pop up occasionally.
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – this is new to me and it’s so wonderful. I resisted the individual Ambient Light singles because I just couldn’t decide. Now I have three so I’m glad I waited before purchasing any.
4. Le Metier de Beaute Blush Kaleidoscope – this is the only blush palette that I use. I use blush every day but the only palette. I usually wear one or two shades at a time with it. It’s great for travel since I’ve got enough variety to keep me happy.
5. Kat Von D True Romance palette in Saint – If you notice I didn’t put any of my Urban Decay Naked palettes even though I have them all. When I want those types of shades I pull out the Kat Von D instead. Of the 8 shades, I wear 6 of them often.
6. TheBalm Shady Lady Volume Three – I could just as easily have picked Volume Two or Balm Jovi or Nude ‘tude since I like all of them. Watch out on Hautelook for TheBalm sales since they have outstanding prices on this brand. It’s the green shade in Volume Three that gets me going.
7.  Dior Bonne Etoile – This is almost too pretty to use. I hate that this was a limited edition because it sold out quickly. I bought both Constellation (purples) and Bonne Etoile (green and brown) but never got around to reviewing them, now it’s too late. But if you can get your hands on either, go for it. Beautifully pigmented, great combinations, stellar design and quality.
8. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes – Too Faced is an eyeshadow lover’s dream and nightmare. They keep coming out with beautiful palettes that I think I can’t live without. Boudoir Eyes is a great neutral palette that I reviewed on Blushing Beauty if you care to read about it.
9.  Bare Minerals The Scenic Route – This is technically not a palette since it just has two shadows but oh what shadows they are. This is my favorite green eyeshadow and I really needed to include it in this post. I don’t wear white shadow often but it just works with the green.
10. Serge Lutens Nude Lip Palette – My wishlist item. I labored over buying this during Barney’s last Beauty Event but the $140 price stopped me in my tracks. I’m still lusting over it but I just don’t imagine myself using it enough to justify that kind of money. Now if my husband gets me mad enough some day —- you never know!!
Thank you for reading my Top Ten Palettes. I’d recommend every one of these. I bought all of these (except Serge) and don’t regret these purchases at all. Any you like or own? — Marcia

Lisa’s Top Ten Self Tanners

Self tanners have come a long way, baby. Years ago they were difficult to apply, smelled horrific, and turned you an unnatural looking orange. There are some truly great options out there today, options so great no one should be afraid to faux tan! I put my self tanners into two categories:  one night stands (these only last until you wash them off) and marriage material (these give you more committment – at least one week). Here are my top ten self tanners. The first five are my favorite one night stands and the next five are my favorite marriages.

1.  Gleam Body Radiance

Gleam Body Radiance

Four fantastic color options, this one night stand is also the perfect remedy for any bad ‘marriages’.

2.  Red Carpet Kolour

Oh my this is a terrific one night stand…it makes any skin flaws disappear with beautiful tint and soft shimmer.

3.  Le Metier Bella Bronzer

The best liquid bronzer for the face and decolletage, hands down.

4.  Tarte Maracuja Rainforest Glow

A beautiful golden tan that is waterproof (hello swimming!) but not soap proof (hello one night stand!).

5.  Carlene K Shine Bronzer Body Glow

There’s a reason this is a favorite of Hollywood starlets – it’s gorgeous, easy to use, and I love the beautiful golden shimmer.

6.  Jan Marini Bioglycolic Sunless Self Tanner

Jan Marini

I love this especially as a face tanner.  The color adjusts to your skin so it’s extremely natural looking.

7.  Supergoop Self Tanning Sunscreen Mousse

This sunscreen is also a gradual self tanner, which is a great way to build up to that commitment.

8.  Tan Towels

Tan Towels take away those tan lines!

Tan Towels take away those tan lines!

See the tan lines? Tan Towels are a super convenient way to make them a thing of the past – even if you have the tan lines of a blogger.

9.  Make Me Smooth You Glow, Girl

I buy this self tanner over and over because it gives gorgeous color and I can get it in any scent I want. My most frequent pick is Day at the Beach, which is a “Coconut infused scent potion that will take you back to lazy days spent at the beach.”

10.  Beautisol Summer Glow Dark Tan Body Self-Tanning Lotion

This is a marriage, all right – it takes some time but it applies beautifully, gives deep dark color, and is total marriage material.

Top Ten Tuesday – Cream Cosmetics

I was so excited when our Top Ten group picked Cream Products. I could probably go on and on about cream products but I decided to stick with just cream blushes since I love them. When you are older you want to soften your makeup look and that’s what I find cream blushes do for me. They may not be the longest lasting products around but the colors thrill me, the finish softens me and they are easy to apply.
The above cream blushes are the ones that I am using the most. I have a few I’d have put in but I find they are discontinued so they’ll remain a secret. — Marcia
1. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée – this is my newest obsession. I am totally in love with this. I bought it in Poppy Paradise and want to go back and buy it in Pink Escape too. This is more of a stain than the others. It feels amazing when applied since it’s cool and slightly damp.
2. Youngblood Luminous Crème Blush  – I’ve talked about this so many times that you are all sick of hearing about it. I couldn’t leave these off though since I adore Taffeta so much I bought a back-up!
3. Le Metier Fresh Creme Tints – I’ve bought every shade they make of this. It’s hard to pick a favorite but probably Mystonique with its very cool pink tone would be the one if I was forced.
4. Rouge Bunny Rouge Cheek Wands – I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed these. I love them and now they are easily available at Beautyhabit. My favorite is Vermeer for a cool shade but I use Goya often too.
5. FACE Stockholm RIO Crème blush – If you are seeing a pattern here it’s probably a lot of pink shade blushes. I wear all shades of blush but my favorites are in the pink family. This is a hidden treasure that everyone should know about. It’s gorgeous on – that out of the cold look.
6. Ilia Multi-Stick – Ilia is a brand that no one seems to talk about. It’s a cruelty free brand with some fabulous products. I bought the Multi-Stick in Tenderly which is a very light pink. Since it’s so light I often use this before a powder blush.
7. Tarte Cream Blush – I just have 2 from tarte but I’m hoping that they’ll come out with more. I got Achiote Cream Blush in a Glossybox and I have Amused from a QVC special. Neither of those are for sale individually though but they have other shades.
8. Illamasqua Crème Blusher – Illamasqua makes the most incredibly pigmented items. The first time I used an Illamasqua blush I looked a little clownlike but I’ve learned to use a light hand and now I love my blush in Promise.
9. Linda Mason Crème Blush – It’s rare that anyone knows about Linda Mason unless they live in NYC. She’s a very famous makeup artist whose written books, has her own cosmetic line and studio. The creme blush in Gin is teeny weeny – a little square of gorgeousness. The color is similar to FACE Stockholm’s Rio but it’s a little less luminous. I adore this blush.
10. Ellis Faas Cream Blush – These are delightful yet no one ever talks about them. I have the old brush which was a little tricky but Lisa reviewed them with the newer brush and she says not to miss them. My favorites are S301 and S302 since they are the lightest.
Now that you’ve seen my list, are there any on here that you have tried and loved? Any you want to try?? I’d love to hear before you go on to my friend’s lists. – Marcia

Top 10 Tuesdays – Get Your Glow On

Top 10 Tuesdays this week is all about glowing which for summer means the world of bronzing. So what does a blogger who doesn’t tan or really use bronzers do? She tells you what she does like and then what her wishlist is. I’m pale and I don’t mind being pale but every once in a while I do like use something that is going to make me fit into summer society.

1. Le Metier de Beaute Sun Kissed Bronzer – this is the lightest bronzer ever which is why I like it. It’s the only product I’ve used that doesn’t make me feel like I goofed up somehow. I’ve bought other bronzers and used other bronzers but this is the only one I consider pulling out now.

2. MAC Cosmetics Blonde Mineralize Skinfinish – I used to buy every single Skinfinish they made and I still have a small collection of these. The two I considered for this Top 10 list are the Blonde and the Redhead Mineralize Skinfinish. These are the least frosty of all the ones I own and the most natural. I like to use one of the darker shades in Blonde as a blush and then use a brush like a skunkbrush and pick up the powder to give an allover light bronze finish.

3. Armani Fluid Sheer in #3 – the amazing fact about #3 is that I used one up. That’s a feat that probably will never be repeated. I use a tiny drop of this, mix it with my foundation and that’s it. It glows and I have some color. I like that I can blend it well on my jawline too since that’s the biggest problem for me and bronzers. I don’t want JLo on my face and Casper on my neck.

4. Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer – I first got this in a QVC kit and then I bought a bigger one. I use it just like the Armani. It’s lighter than the Armani so it’s good for everyday. Plus it’s only $28 compared to $59 for Armani.

5. Sinful Colors Zincing of You nail polish – well I know it’s not a bronzer but it’s a great light golden bronze for my pale hands. I have several bronze polishes but this one is especially nice for summer and it’s a drugstore delight.

Sinful Colors Zincing of You

Now we need to go to wishlist. I was going to add in my beloved It Creme Highlighters but I decided to stick with bronze.

1. My number one wishlist item just arrived on my doorstep – Beautisol Self-Tanning Mousse. We have lots of reviews on Beauty Info Zone about Beautisol since my blog partner, Lisa, loves bronzers and self-tanners. She has told me over and over to review Beautisol and at last I’ll be able to. I’m nervous though so wish me luck.

2. Becca Bronzing Skin Perfector – this is very similar to the Armani and Josie Maran that I mentioned which is why I haven’t bit the bullet but it makes everyone’s “best of” lists so I’d love to try it.

3. Senna Brilliant Bronze in Dawn – this looks so pretty and light enough for me. It’s a blush and bronzer duo that’s on the pink side.

4. Anastasia LLUMIN8 With Youthful Synergy™ Complex Bronzer – I’ve loved the cosmetics from Anastasia and this looks like one I could carry off.

5. YSL LA LAQUE COUTURE Nail Lacquer in #28 Bronze Metallic (metallic bronze gold) – in pictures this looks so beautiful but I don’t want to spend $28 for it and I wouldn’t wear it until fall but that doesn’t mean I won’t spring for it one day.

Glossybox April 2013 brings you a “natural day”

Glossybox for April 2013

Glossybox for April 2013

The subscription box fanatic is back with another report. This time it’s my April 2013 Glossybox. I’ve been subscribing to Glossybox since the very first box. Some boxes are great, some fall in the not so great category. Let’s see where this one falls on a scale of 1 to 10.

Work that Beauty with Glossybox

Work that Beauty with Glossybox

The first thing I noticed when I opened April’s Glossybox is that the Glossy Magazine wasn’t there. Personally I don’t care about the magazine so I didn’t mind at all and when I read the reason why, I liked that even better. In honor of Earth Day they decided to keep the magazine online only for April. I think that’s smart. Give me more product in the box and don’t waste resources! (score 10) Their theme is Natural Beauty this month and they achieve that through these products:

April Glossybox 2013 contents

Let’s start in the shower with Wash With Joe – this is a Coffeemint Invigorating Body Wash. It contains an “invigorating blend of coffee and mint that helps revitalize and balance the body and the mind while keeping skin superbly clean”. I’m sure it’s great but I truly hate the smell of coffee. I admit that’s unusual so blast me if you must but Wash with Diet Coke would be more my style. (general score: 8, my personal score has to be 2 though)

Wash With Joe 1 fl. oz.

From the shower you have to do your hair so they’ve included Alterna Haircare, Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist. This is formulated to give “just back from the beach waves”. You spray it on damp or dry hair and shape with your fingers for a loose, tousled style. I’ll have to see if this could work for me but my hair is straight since without being straight it’s just weird. (score 4)

Next we’ll have some skincare. Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution sample packet is included. This is a very nice moisturizer and if I keep getting these samples I’ll soon have enough to actually know if it works (I probably have 6 by now). If you buy this on Glossybox you can receive $75 off the $225 price with their code. (score 6)

Finally time for my face. This is where Glossybox has gone very natural. They’ve included a lip balm and a bronze toned blush. The lip balm is from The Honest Co. which is an organic company. They sell everything for your family. These lip balms come in a set of 3 for $9.95. They come in lavender mint, sweet orange vanilla and purely simple (the one I received). Even though I have a ton of lip balms, they get lost so easily so having another in the house is fine. (score 8)

Makeup wise they’ve included a TIGI Glow Blush in the color Haute. This is a baked formula in a rosy brown. I’m sure it’s lovely but … 1) I have very fair skin so it’s too dark for me; 2) I have more blushes than anyone can use so I’d like to be judicious in finding new ones; and 3) I’d rather not swatch it so that I can include it in a future Beauty Info Zone giveaway. One of my favorite eyeshadows from a long time ago is made by TIGI so I have faith that this blush is a great quality too. (score 7)

Last end your day with a relaxing bath and Bulgari Eau Parfume au the’, Tea Bag for Bath. Well you can do that, you couldn’t pay me to use this fragrance. This is the full size and valued at $9.50. Um, okay. It’s just not my style. (score 0 – no offense if you like Bulgari)

So there you have a natural day with April’s Glossybox. My scores weren’t too high but I don’t think it’s the box – I think it’s me. How would you rate this version of Glossybox? — Marcia
