MARCIA HAS THE MINI KABUKI 5 PIECE SET

I’m so excited about this makeup brush set. These are unlike any brushes I have in my vast collection. I can’t get over these brushes and they are currently on sale for only $19.97. I’m shocked. There are 5 brushes that come in a makeup bag and they are among the most useful brushes I have. These are considered to be eye makeup brushes but I didn’t realize that at first so I used them for everything. These brushes are so versatile.

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Set (Eye Makeup Brushes: 5 pc Precision Brush Set)

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Set (Eye Makeup Brushes: 5 pc Precision Brush Set)

There’s a brush in this kit for every use you have: blending, contouring, application, applying concealer, and more. The brushes can be used with both cream and powder products.

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Tapered Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Tapered Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Tapered Brush is my absolute favorite brush in the entire kit. This alone is worth the price of the kit. There’s a very popular brush from Sephora’s house brand that this is so similar to but this is even better since it’s more tapered. This is terrific for applying concealer under your eyes. I use it with concealer and corrector and it makes me smile every time I use it. Fabulous brush!

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Brush has a totally flat top. This is can be used for just about anything on your eyes. I’ve used it to apply all over color and blend mostly. I’ve also used it with cream blush, especially those hard to get into pots, to apply it to my cheeks.

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Angled Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Angled Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Angled Brush is the one I use on my eyes the most. I like it to apply browbone color and for blending. It’s also great to apply a subtle highlighter along my upper cheekbones and above my brows.

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Round Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Round Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Round Brush is a little love! The bristles are softly rounded at the top. The brush is perfect for blending in all those hard to reach places like around your nose and in the inner corner of your eyes. This applies color like it was born for that job. It probably was.

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Angled Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Angled Brush

Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Angled Brush is the 5th brush and you’ll find just as much use for this as all the others. This soft angled brush makes quick work of blending and making sure there are no sharp edges. Use this to buff your powder blush and you’ll see it glow.

I’ve got nothing but praise for this set. At $19.95 you need this to complete your brush wardrobe.

Beauty Junkies Kabuki Makeup Brush Set

Beauty Junkees Kabuki Makeup Brush Set

While all of Marcia’s brushes are for the eyes, mine are for the face. True to the kabuki name, all of these brushes are thick and compact with very dense bristles. The handles are long with some heft, giving more control than a traditional squat kabuki brush. These brushes are incredibly soft yet have the firmness needed to handle thicker face products, and they can all be used with powder or cream products. I am astounded at the range of finishes I can get – everything from super sheer to complete coverage.  The price is definitely right – only $39.97 for all five brushes plus the awesome brush holder, which is a normally $84.85.

Beauty Junkies Flat Kabuki Brush

Beauty Junkees Flat Kabuki Brush

The Flat Kabuki Brush is an amazing foundation brush and it also is a perfect choice for finishing powders. I’ve tried it with powdered foundation, tinted moisturizer, thick cream foundation…it works with them all and is a terrific stippling brush that creates a natural look.

Beauty Junkies Angled Kabuki Brush

Beauty Junkees Angled Kabuki Brush

The Angled Kabuki Brush is a go-to brush for applying blush, or for highlighting and contour work. This is a beautiful blending brush that is silky soft but it really grabs product, so it’s best to go light and build up intensity.

Beauty Junkies Round Kabuki Brush

Beauty Junkees Round Kabuki Brush

The Round Kabuki is the most like a traditional kabuki brush, although the longer handle makes it easier to maneuver more carefully. I use this brush for blending  and for buffing on mineral foundation powders.

Beauty Junkies Flat Angled Kabuki Brush

Beauty Junkees Flat Angled Kabuki Brush

The Flat Angled Kabuki is awesome for contouring and for bronzer, as well as for using with tinted moisturizers, BB creams and CC creams. I think this is my favorite of the five brushes and I especially love it for contouring. It is extremely versatile and I find myself using it at all different angles for various looks.

Beauty Junkies Tapered Kabuki Brush

Beauty Junkees Tapered Kabuki Brush

The Tapered Kabuki brush is for use under the eyes and around the nose, all those odd areas that are difficult to get to with a traditional shaped brush. It’s especially good for blending out creamy concealers.

Beauty Junkies Brush Holder

Beauty Junkees Brush Holder

I can’t rave enough about how wonderfully soft the synthetic bristles are and the brushes are easy to clean. The brushes are truly fantastic, and I think the biggest surprise for me was just how much I also love the Travel Brush Holder.  It not only holds these wonderful brushes, it also provides covered storage for them.  The snap sides are particularly nice for keeping brushes safe for travel.  The Brush Cup Holder measures 3.5″ DIA X 8.75″ H and is big enough to fit even more brushes – maybe the set Marcia reviewed!

For a limited time, you can buy any 1 Kabuki Brush for $11.97, or get the set of 5 Brushes with a FREE Travel Brush Holder for $39.97 (value $84.85). This offer and these brushes are so good that if you don’t snap up a set, I will be shocked!

We love the high quality, the practicality, and the price for both brush sets.  These brush sets are ones you will want to add to your cosmetics collection!

BEAUTY JUNKEES has a special code for Beauty Info Zone readers for 25% off one purchase through 3/7/16. The code is INFOZONE and can be used on any of their products but we think one of these Kabuki sets is the way to go! Link to the face kabuki set, link to the eye kabuki set. Which will you pick?

Cosmetics or Jewels? Wantable part two

I’m a WANTABLE kind of girl lady woman. I want subscription boxes. I thought by now I’d be sick to death of them but I’m not, especially now that I’ve discovered Wantable. Yesterday Lisa reviewed the Jewelry box for April that she received from Wantable. It’s my turn to review the cosmetic box I bought in my Wantable subscription.

My April Wantable goodies

My April Wantable goodies

Last month I chose a box that was curated by the makeup artist Robert Jones. This month I decided to update my profile and see what treasures Wantable would choose for me.

Me and my likes/dislikes

Me and my likes/dislikes

What makes Wantable so unique is that they have a fabulous way for you to individualize the box. It takes at least 15-20 minutes but you get to choose what you like and in a pretty specific way. I’ve chosen never to get bronzer or brow items and that’s noted on my profile. But it gets more specialized. For example I said I wanted eyeshadow but then it asks me what kind of eyeshadow – you can rate things as LOVE, LIKE, or HATE. With eyeshadows it asked if I wanted neutrals, brights,  glitter, loose, cream, matte, shimmer. I love having that option. I “think” I put in neutrals, brights, cream and shimmer. They do the same thing for each of their categories (lips, blush, highlighter, nails etc). I’m much more likely to get what I like with a box like this than any other box.

Here’s a picture of the box for April that was put together by Iris Moreau.

Here’s a picture of the box that Wantable put together for me, Marcia. As you can see I received 5 full size items along with 2 sample packets.

I received an eyeshadow, a blush, a lipgloss, an eyeliner and a brush along with two L.A. Fresh Makeup Remover Wipes. The eyeshadow is from Be A Bombshell and it’s a very pretty golden shade. It’s not gold like a metallic but it adds a gold tone that I can use with half of my eyeshadow wardrobe. (retail $14)

The eyeliner is what got me jumping up and down. I’ve reviewed Cailyn gel eyeliner before. I bought it in Green at IMATS, I received it in Black when I purchased my March Wantable box and this time I ended up with Brown. (Next time I want navy, ok??). I love these eyeliners. (retail $19-21)

The blush is from 29, a brand that is sold at Neiman Marcus. It’s a beautiful color and has great pigmentation. I didn’t have this exact shade in my collection before. (retail $36)

The lipgloss in my box is a beautiful pink sparkler from Be A Bombshell called Kiss Off. (retail $14)

To top it off there’s a Real Techniques kabuki brush (retail $10)

Real Techniques kabuki

Is there any doubt why I like Wantables subscription box more than any others? I get surprises but they are controlled surprises. I’m not going to end up with countless fragrance samples (I hope), chartreuse eyeshadow, brown lipstick. I’m going to get cosmetics that are within my comfort zone. (total value of this box is $95)

This is my second box within my subscription ($36 for subscriptions, $40 if you want to try it just once). I’m looking forward to May and the treasures it will bring. Now that you’ve seen both the April Beauty box and Jewelry box, do you have a preference? I’m sticking with my beauty which comes as no surprise to anyone that knows me! — Marcia

My Wantable subscription birthday box

My partner Marcia knows me so well…for my birthday she got me a Wantable subscription box. Wantable is different because you can customize your box – but Marcia knows me so well she was able to do mine for me as a gift!

My birthday Wantable Box

My birthday Wantable Box

I had five full size cosmetics items and one sample size. I thought every item was quality stuff, this is a subscription box that is totally worth the price.  Plus I happen to love surprises!

the only sample size

My only sample size was this Amber Sugar Scrub from Milu.  It smells amazing and is a beautiful exfoliator.

Beauty For Real

Beauty For Real

I pretty much swooned when I saw this Get Glowing Cheek Tint and Luminizer palette from Beauty for Real.  I remember first seeing this line in LA with Marcia and our friend Patty, I bought tons of stuff but I don’t even think this beauty was available then.

Beauty

for the cheeks

It reminds me of the Le Metier palettes.  The bottom layer is a beautiful peachy/pink that is a wonderful, ‘lit from within’ cheek tint.

Beauty

The top layer is a champagne shimmer. It’s beautiful for above the cheek or right on top of the upper lip.

Another full size item was Be a Bombshell Lip Gloss in Last Call Girl.

My favorite type of applicator and the color is a fuchsia pink.

It’s a very pretty gloss, not nearly as ‘screaming pink’ as I first thought it would be…

rather subtle!

If this is the last call girl, she’s far more subtle than I would have expected.

Darla Tiny Tooter

Darla Peepers Eyeshadow in Tiny Tooter

And what makeup subscription box would be complete without an eyeshadow? Marcia knows my penchant for purple eyeshadows, which makes this Darla Peepers Eyeshadow in Tiny Tooter very apropos.

I love the tiny silver shimmer, it’s a beautiful shade!

I also got this really neat, unusual liquid eyeliner from Cailyn.

The gold can look over the top, so what I like to do is line a little thicker with the gold, then after it dries do a thin line with black eyeliner super close to the lash line.  It really looks pretty without being too much ‘bling’.

Real Techniques

My final product was a Kabuki brush by Real Techniques. I was so excited – some of my most favorite brushes of all time are by Real Techniques.

This Kabuki opens, so you can use it as a bigger brush or as a Kabuki. It’s a really nice brush, particularly for travel.

In general Wantable boxes are $40 each or $36 for a subscription. You can also get a Jewelry Wantable Box…and here’s a teaser for you, I just got the April Jewelry Wantable in the mail today! I will be reviewing it soon, I think it’s probably the most interesting subscription box ever.

For now, I want to say thanks again to Marcia for this great birthday gift – and encourage you to check out Wantable, it’s definitely full of ‘wantable’ products!  – Lisa

Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki Brush review plus exciting MUFE news

I need to confess my love for makeup brushes. I love brushes and am constantly adding more to my collection. It all started when I wanted to learn more about application techniques. I had Fridays off from my part time job and spent many of them at cosmetic counters having my makeup done. I learned a lot – including what NOT to do. Even if the makeup application wasn’t perfect I usually found a brush I just couldn’t live without. While I no longer spend all that time going for makeovers I do still buy brushes galore. Which leads me to my newest love – Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki brush. This little brush is an absolute marvel for applying powder.

image from sephora.com

I recently reviewed the wonderful MUFE Wild & Chic Best of kit.  One of the items in the kit is their HD Microfinish Powder. I liked the powder when I got it from the set but it wasn’t until I started using it with their HD Kabuki Brush that I realized how great the powder really is. The HD Microfinish Powder helps blur imperfections in general but when you use it with the right brush it makes it even more perfect. I swirl the brush in the lid of the powder and pick up a small amount and swirl it on my face.

Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki brush

The brush is so soft that you’ll want to use it to “pet” your face. It feels amazingly great on your skin. It’s made of Nylon so you know it’s cruelty free. It was created especially for use with the HD powder but can be used with any loose powder you like. This is a Sephora exclusive and sells for $39.  I not only like it for applying the loose powder but I like to use it over my entire face after I’m done with my “routine” to make sure everything is blended well.

Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki

I don’t own the Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Starter kit but this is something I know I can recommend because I own everything in it – HD Microfinish Powder, HD Microperfecting Primer, HD Invisible Cover Foundation (reviewed here) and now the HD Kabuki Brush. The kit is $79 which makes it a bargain in my eyes. The brush alone is $39, the foundation is $40 so you get the primer and powder as a bonus. This too is an exclusive Sephora kit. The amazing thing about the kit is that it you have your choice of 21 foundation shades. That’s unreal in the cosmetic world.

Even though I started with raves about the Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki brush, I guess this turned into a Make Up For Ever lovefest. Once I started testing the brush with my MUFE items it reminded me about the treasures they’ve created. – Marcia
