My wonderful Beautylish Lucky Bag revealed #luckybag2018

If you haven’t seen the Beautylish Lucky Bags that are all over Instagram and blogs then you are missing out. Actually you missed out when you didn’t place an advanced order for this fun surprise. Every year in mid December Beautylish allows you to get a place on their order list. From that point you need to anxiously await the email that allows you to place an order. I’ve done this for the past 3 years and it’s a highlight of my cosmetic life.

If you spent over $1,000 a year on Beautylish you will get the opportunity to buy the XL bag for $150. The rest of us can order the regular bag for $75 plus shipping. I’ve only been able to get the $75 bag and that’s perfectly fine with me. Beautylish doesn’t send rejects. They send up to the minute products that are new and are on their site as I type. This year I noticed a lot of Jouer, Natasha Denona, and Wayne Goss brushes. Every bag is different and every one I’ve seen has something in it that I’d love to own.

Lucky bags are a Japanese New Year custom. For 2018 they are brought to us by the Seven Lucky Gods. The packaging and graphics are just so cute.

My bag holds a total of $220 worth of items. What has been the most fun is that I’ve admired the brands I received but I probably wouldn’t have bought any of these separately. Now I get the best of both worlds.

There’s only one skincare item in the bag which is a popular one for this year. Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Mask (box of 5 for $60). If there’s got to be skincare then a mask is perfect, especially one that I’ve never tried before. This is meant for ultimate hydration and improving skin’s radiance. It is fragranced so I hope I enjoy it.

I’ve never had the opportunity to try Smith & Cult nail polish but I’ve always wanted to. I just couldn’t pick out a color I wanted. I received Dark Like Me which is a very dark plum. I’m interested in so many of their shades and happy to finally have one to call my own. ($18)

Cover|FX is up next. I received their Translucent Light Perfect Setting Powder ($35). Everyone needs a setting powder and to be honest it’s been years and years since I last bought one. I know that powders like this aren’t supposed to go bad but I think it’s going to be nice to have a brand new one in my life.

How could I be anything but excited about having a Wayne Goss brush? I have bought quite a few since Beautylish started selling them but I never bought this #15 Fan Brush ($25). It’s so luxuriously soft and so much nicer than any others I own. I had a big smile on my face when I saw this in the box.

And then there’s Jouer. The most noticeable box in the box was this Jouer Highlighter Trio ($39). When I opened it I was instantly thrilled.

So what’s in there? How about 3 beautiful highlighters that glow but aren’t glitter city. The shades are Skinny Dip (golden), Ice (light pink), and Rose Gold.

I’m in love!!! I’m always looking at highlighters but because I have quite a few I feel guilty buying them – this isn’t guilt though!

Continuing with Jouer I received their Long Wear Lip Topper in St. Tropez ($16). Now with this amount of glitter in it I’d never spring for it but you better believe I’m excited about having this and enhancing my lips with it. St. Tropez is a metallic shimmering champagne.

To top it all off here comes Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette ($75). I received this in Smokey Eye Look and it definitely is a look in a palette. It has everything you need for your eyes and cheeks so you don’t have to stray and you can create a variety of looks.

As you can see there are 3 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer and 1 highlight powder. I own an older Look in a Palette and I’ve even used the cheek products on my eyes to make it even more versatile. I’m excited about this one since I think it’s great for a daytime look but that I can use it more intensely for night. (My photo is washed out but the Beautylish photo is darker than in real life).

If you aren’t on the Beautylish email list you need to do so before next December. $75 isn’t cheap but every bag I’ve seen has had over $200 worth and some up to $300 worth all for $75. It’s the most fun surprise I’ve ever purchased.
