Mineral Fusion’s Holiday Lip Tints Kit

Mineral Fusion’s Holiday Lip Tints Kit

MINERAL FUSION has a great gift set whether it’s for a stocking stuffer, a gift exchange, a treat for yourself, or a cutie under the tree (or menorah). This cute set can be found at Whole Foods  for only $19.95. The great news is that it contains 3 full size Mineral Fusion Sheer Moisture Lip Tints so it’s like buying two ($9.99 each) and getting one free.  Since I absolutely love lip crayons and I love a sheer color on my lips I was thrilled when Mineral Fusion sent this my way for review.

FLICKER: a pretty, easy to wear Berry Shade. All the Sheer Moisture Lip Tints contain lip firming peptides in a hydrating formula.

Glisten is actually lighter than my picture shows and since it’s sheer it looks lighter on my lips.

SMOLDER:  a cherry red that’s my favorite. It’s my AHA moment because I’m normally not comfortable in red but this sheer shade makes it wearable and not as bold as I’d find a red. Plus the cherry makes it more on the cool pink side.

Let me tell you more about why you want this set! Mineral Fusion is a company that is 100% vegetarian with most products 100% Vegan. All products are free of gluten, parabens, SLS, phthalates, artificial colors and synthetic fragrances. The cruelty free blogs that I follow all love Mineral Fusion products and they are PETA and Leaping Bunny certified.

The lip crayons are made of 100% pure minerals in an ultra-hydrating formula that’s infused with cocoa butter and a lip-firming peptide. You can swipe them on without looking or you can take the time and build up the color with several layers. It’s a gluten free formula that has an easy to wear vanilla-mint flavor. I notice the scent and flavor when I first apply these but this doesn’t linger and that’s another reason I’m enjoying them so much. The colors are vibrant even though sheer. It’s hypo-allergenic and is free of any artificial colors.

Although I haven’t tried Mineral Fusion nail polish I saw these sets on Prime Beauty and want to go check to see if my Whole Foods carries them. $9.99 for three mini polishes is a great gift. Prime Beauty’s pictures and descriptions will convince you that you need these too.

Votre Vu Holiday Gift Box

When you go to your mailbox and find a box like this from VOTRE VU there’s a moment when your heart skips a beat and you just want to rip it open. I was thrilled when Votre Vu sent their Party Girl gift set since I still use some of the products from the box they sent last year.  This one is even better though.

Three products that I use on a daily basis are in this great box. Eyes x2 and lips = cosmetic perfection.  I love mascara and don’t go without it or my eyes disappear.  Votre Vu’s EIFFEL TOWER mascara is for Lengthening and Fortifying. I prefer a lengthening mascara since my lashes are skimpy plus I truly hate clumping and often get that with volumizing mascaras. I’ve been wearing this daily since I got it and I love the look it gives me. The brush is nice and full and applies the mascara evenly. This doesn’t smudge or flake. It washes off so easily that I am surprised every time that happens.

Also for eyes is a beautiful eye pencil LE JOLI CRAYON Smudge & Set Soft Eye Liner in Violectra. A gorgeous purple liner that has a smudger on one end and the soft liner on the other. This lasts extremely well on the top lash line though I do have to refresh on the bottom lash line if I go out in the evening. But that’s the norm for me. The color is beautiful and flattering. There’s even a sharpener for this making searching unnecessary.

To top it off there’s a Lip Lustre Vitamin E Lip Gloss in PARTY ON. I love the non fragranced gloss because it has enough color in it to wear on its own. Yet it looks beautiful over many of my pinky peach lipsticks. The color looks darker in the tube than it applies. It’s silky and moisturizing on my lips. Right now my lips need moisture and this gloss adds that.

Another gift from Votre Vu is The Bod Squad. I have the hand cream and it’s wonderful with its almond fragrance. Here’s what you’d get ($59). This too would make someone very happy especially in winter weather climates.

  • TARTE D’AMANDE Almond Pie Body Soufflé
  • BÉBÉ DUETTE Luxe Lips With Tarte D’Amande Hand Crème (1 tube)

The definition of beautiful?? Tarte Gorgeous Getaways set

tarte gorgeous getaways from ulta.com

tarte gorgeous getaways from ulta.com

As you know I’ve reviewed a lot of tarte cosmetics over the years but nothing has ever come close to the holiday Gorgeous Getaways set that I’m showing you today. I haven’t used anything other than this box of wonder since I received it for review. Sometimes when I’ve gotten a holiday set I’ve liked the eyeshadows but they weren’t quite the same caliber as the regular line. That’s not the case with tarte Gorgeous Getaways. These eyeshadows are absolutely amazing. Fabulous pigmentation, a variety of finishes and colors, terrific lasting power. It has it all.

This is an Ulta exclusive that costs $48 and is worth so much more than that. This two tiered set has everything you need at home or for travel. In the top tier you’ll receive 4 separate palettes that each contain four complimentary eyeshadows and a blush. In the bottom tier you’ll find an empty gold palette case so you can transfer one of your favorites into it for your purse or travel. As if that’s not enough, there are 3 beautiful lip glosses that work perfectly with the colors in the top tier.

This palette is a great neutral one that’s perfect for everyday use. The two far left shadows are workhorses!

This is my absolute favorite of the group. These shadows are the ones I can’t keep away from. I’ve used one or more every day since I started with it. The blush is perfect!

If I haven’t convinced you then check the photos at Vampy Varnish or Makeup and Beauty Blog and then get to an Ulta or ulta.com quickly!! This gets my vote for the best holiday 2013 cosmetic set and that’s saying a lot since I bought quite a few this year!! What tarte have you caved and bought? — Marcia

The Lip Cremes have even more pigment and more coverage than the other lip pencil formulas from tarte. These are self-sharpening and have a slightly minty taste. True to their name they are very creamy when first applied and they eventually dry down to a stain that lasts for hours on me. I actually think I like this formula best out of all the tarte chubby lip pencils. All four shades are neutral enough to be flattering and wearable for most people.

The next biggest box is blue and has four items for eyes:  two Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascaras and two smolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliners.

I love the eyeliner shades, they make for gorgeous thick lines that can be precise or sheered out with the smudge tool on the opposite end of the liner. Again, the emphasis is on neutral shades that will please everyone. I was surprised that both mascaras were the same color, but hey, it’s always a bonus to have a back up mascara since I never seem to realize I need a new one until it’s too late.

The eyeshadows are housed in a thin palette within the big purple box and are a mix of (yes, you guessed it!) neutral shades in a variety of finishes.

Anastasia has Kisses on my List!

Anastasia Kisses On My List

There’s something about Anastasia’s lipgloss kit Kisses On My List Volume 2 that makes me want to sing. Not sure what it is. Could it be the names of the glosses? Jolene, Sharona, Roxanne, Moi, Maggie Mae, Lola? I need to think about that but first I want to tell you all about this amazing set and why you need to put this as numero UNO on your list!

This set of 6 dazzling colors has two different formulas. First there’s Anastasia’s Hydrafull gloss formula in Maggie May, Moi and Sharona. These are sheer, opalescent colors. There’s also a new formula called HYPERCOLOR glosses that will stain your lips. Those shades are Lola, Jolene and Roxanne. This set of 6 cover the gamut too from matte to shimmer. There isn’t a shade that hasn’t won my heart so I’ll try not to play favorites.

The Hydrafull gloss formula is very moisturizing and while it won’t last all day it does leave a very hydrating feeling even after the color has worn off. Moving on to the Hypercolors we have a totally different texture that we’re dealing with. The three Hypercolor glosses are the ones that will actually leave a stain behind. These are thicker than the other glosses and wear longer. They change after a few minutes to the color you’ll end up with. They really do leave a light stain even after the gloss has worn off.

Maggie May is the lightest and warmest, a pinky-peach nude. My lips turn this apricot into a shade that I can wear with everything except the coolest of cool eyeshadows. I love it when I’m wearing greens on my eyes especially.

Maggie May

Maggie May swatch

Maggie May

Moi appears to be the darkest of the 6 shades in the tube but I still wouldn’t say it’s dark once on. Moi has a slight brown undertone to it while still being pink. I’ve seen it described as a nude cream.

Moi

Moi swatch

Moi

Sharona is a gorgeous peach with just a touch of coral. You can see the shimmer in the tube but when it’s on your lips it isn’t the type of shimmer that will migrate. It stays where it belongs.

Sharona

Sharona swatch

Sharona

Lola is a very cool toned light pink. If I were standing in front of an Anastasia display and these 6 glosses were available separately Lola is the first one I’d swatch. I love this tone and the light shimmer in it. It’s a little lighter on my lips than my swatches show. It’s actually a “my lips but better” shade for me.

Lola

Lola swatch

Lola

Jolene steps up the color a bit from Lola. There’s not as much of a cool blue undertone on Jolene. Comparatively it’s a slightly warm pink that’s just a tad darker on my lips.

Jolene

Jolene swatch

Jolene

Roxanne is my favorite (I said I wouldn’t pick favorites but between my unbridled love for Sting and the color I just can’t help myself). This is a deep cool pink with a little bit of coral. It is not an in-your-face pink. Roxanne deepens considerably on my lips after about half an hour.

Roxanne

Roxanne swatch

From what I’ve experienced and what I’ve seen on other people’s lips, the Hydracolors change a little so that they are more customized to you. I don’t think these will wear the same on each person’s lips. Your personal chemistry will play an effect making these more unique.

This is not a vampy set, this is a set for everyday living. When you first apply any of the Kisses on My List products you might think they are very sticky and extremely glossy but within a minute they settle down. It’s pretty amazing. They become comfortable and natural looking. The applicator is different than any other brand too. It’s a silicone wand that feels odd at first but I soon got used to it and I like the way it applies the gloss. The most amazing thing is that this set is only $30 at Sephora or $2 at Anastasia.net. That makes this set even better than I already thought it was.

Here are two other blogs with some great pictures. 15 Minute Fanatic’s isn’t in depth but the swatches are great. Portrait of Mai has some terrific photos that show you how the colors change on her lips. Remember though that your mileage may vary, mine did. They don’t look the same on my lips as they do on Mai’s. And last but not least, Lolas Secret Beauty Blog, has great swatch pictures on her arm that show the colors at their finest.

While I’m not a very good singer I’m pretty good at applying lipgloss and I can assure you that these are lipglosses I want to apply! Anastasia’s Kisses on My Lips are unique and amazing. — Marcia

Tarte’s LipSurgence Collector Set will make you swoon

tarte Lipsurgence Collector’s Set

I hate thinking about holiday shopping already but it really is the perfect time to do so and there’s nothing quite like tarte cosmetics to make sure your dollar goes far with amazing holiday sets. We are enamored with so many of these sets but the one that has my name written on it is the 5 piece LipSurgence™ Collector’s Set. I’m a huge fan of tarte’s LipSurgence™ crayons and even picked one for my favorite summer lippie in Makeup Wars and took that same one with me on my desert island sojourn. The color I picked is Sweet and it was from a QVC set I’d purchased and not available elsewhere. Well guess what? You can now have Sweet along with 4 other LipSurgence™ products for only $34. A single LipSurgence™ is $24! I’m shocked at the price of this set. For $10 more than a single you get 5 and they are beauties.

Lipsurgence set

The 5 shades are

* LipSurgence™ Lip Luster in Escape

*LipSurgence™ Lip Luster in Sweet

* LipSurgence™ Lip Tint in Enchanted

* LipSurgence™ Lip Tint in Elite

* LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tint in Exposed

Escape is the lightest of the group. The packaging is a light lilac and the color on me is a light cool pink. It actually shows up without making me look ghostly.

Escape

Escape

Sweet is the sweetest in the bunch (my opinion obviously), it’s a midtone pink that I think is neutral since I can wear it with just about anything in my makeup collection. There’s a little bit of shimmer in both Escape and Sweet which gives those more of the luster finish.

Sweet

Sweet

Enchanted has more of a cool undertone and is one of the darkest shades. But since these are basically sheer they aren’t as dark as they appear on the lip crayon.

Enchanted

Enchanted

Elite is a coral pink. Both Enchanted and Elite are a little darker than the others. They also leave a tint behind when the color wears away.

Elite

Elite

Exposed is a nude with a peach undertone on me. In some pictures Exposed looks brown but it doesn’t really look brown once on. I’d classify it as a peach/nude.

Exposed

Exposed

All 5 of these have the trademark peppermint smell which I love. They are refreshing to put on not only because of the scent but because they are so fabulous in feel. The Lip Lusters are a little sheerer than the Lip Tints but very similar. The Matte Lip Tint is matte obviously but it doesn’t show every line since it’s still just as moisturizing. The color selection in this set is terrific. They go from light to semi-dark and almost every shade is universal.

Top swatches: Escape, Sweet and Exposed. Bottom swatches: Elite and Enchanted

Tarte is available at Sephora, Ulta and their own website.

Whether you put this limited edition set on your own wishlist or buy it for gifts (you can divide up the 5 lippies as stocking stuffers), you’ll be sorry if you don’t get this. Do you have a favorite tarte lipsurgence? If not you could have 5 pretty soon! — Marcia

Want You to Want Me? Anastasia knows what your eyes want

Want You To Want Me

For me there is nothing quite like opening a new eyeshadow palette. It’s an adventure waiting to happen. Give me a choice of what to buy and it will always be eyeshadow. With Anastasia’s Want You To Want Me though I get a lot more than eyeshadow; I get 9 beautiful colors of shadow, 1 shiny black liquid eyeliner, a clear eyebrow gel and a mini brush. And I get excitement. If you follow Beauty Info Zone then you know that Want You To Want Me came to a desert island with me. Not every woman gets to pick what she can take with her but I did and Anastasia is what I picked.

open the box and you see this…

Let’s see why? The 9 eyeshadows are beautiful shades that work in so many combinations. Applied dry they can be sheer but you have the option to also apply them wet to intensify them. The shadows have a variety of finishes from matte to satin to shimmer. Even with two shimmer shadows though what you won’t find is glitter. This palette is age appropriate for those of us who aren’t sweet sixteen (or super twenty-six or terrific thirty-six or even fabulous forty-six).

The style of the palette will take you back to the 1970’s and your disco dancing years. Those were wild and semi-decadent years for me, I even went to the fabulous Studio 54 when it was at its peak of popularity so I have some amazing memories from that time. Want You To Want Me brings back some of those memories with names like Platform Wedge, Members Only and Ziggy. The Jet Black Liquid Eyeliner in the kit is exactly what I wore then too.

The star of the show is the eyeshadow palette so on to descriptions.

Anastasia Want You To Want Me shadows

eyeshadow names

Left side from top to bottom:

–          Platform Wedge: matte vanilla with a touch of caramel that highlights your browbone area gently

–          Members Only: a light caramel shade

–          Graphic T’s: a beautifully sparkled dark brown that’s terrific for a smoky eye, a crease color or an eyeliner

Top to bottom: Platform Wedge, Member’s Only, Graphic T’s

Top to bottom: Platform Wedge, Member’s Only, Graphic T’s

Middle section:

–          Front Row Center: a lightly shimmered gold with a touch of beige

–          Power Ballad: I love this shade!! It’s a medium satiny brown with just the right amount of shimmer

–          Brass In Pocket: perfect name for this lightly shimmered copper/brass

Top to bottom: Front Row Center, Power Ballad, Brass in Pocket

Bottom to Top: Front Row Center, Power Ballad, Brass in Pocket

Right side top to bottom:

–          Ziggy: a sparkly purple that you can build in intensity or leave light

–          Jellies: just like those jelly shoes that were so popular in a sparkly pink

–          Iron On: this dark purple shimmer has amazing pigment, like Graphic T it’s extremely versatile

Top to bottom: Ziggy, Jellies, Iron On

Bottom to Top: Ziggy, Jellies, Iron On

Anastasia shadows are known for their anti-aging qualities which those of us who lived through the 70’s appreciate a lot! They contain “Youthful Synergy™ Complex in the shimmer shades. They also contain Brown Algae – A key ingredient that smoothes, firms, hydrates, and revitalizes the appearance of skin. Diamond Core Powder – Diffuses light for a soft focus effect. Sea Whip Extract – Soothes the skin. Macadamia derivative – A natural hydrator capable of holding up to 300% more water in the skin. Powerful antioxidants of Vitamins A, B, C, E, and F. Balkan Botanical Infusion®.” They never crease on me but I always use an eyeshadow primer.

In addition to the 9 shadows that you can use wet or dry there’s also the black liquid eyeliner and their best selling clear brow gel. Both of these are very long lasting and great to have. On my desert island trip I “used” the brow gel in place of mascara but in real life I like that the brow gel tames my brows and make them look so well groomed.

I think you can see just why this came with me on my journey to a desert island. I’ve got versatility, options, value (it’s only $34), and quality all wrapped in one pretty package. This set is exclusive to Sephora and if it’s anything like last year’s holiday eye set it’s going to go quickly.  — Marcia
