If you are looking for some up to the minute products with a price that’s unbelievable, Hard Candy is your best friend. Hard Candy is exclusive to Walmart and Walmart.com. so I think you should sneak over to the beauty section when you are buying your veggies. Hard Candy will only make a little bump in your budget, not even a dent. I have 3 types of products that were sent that you need to know about.

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Pore-Defense Primer Serum

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Pore-Defense Primer Serum

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Pore-Defense Primer Serum has been on my face daily since receiving it. What do you hear about all the time online now? Color Correcting!! That’s what every company is is bringing out and what we are all fascinated with. When I first started using this I had a surprise:

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Pore-Defense Primer Serum

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Pore-Defense Primer Serum

It’s a teal blue just like the bottle. Why teal? To brighten your face. The Pore Defense Primer Serum does a little bit of everything. First it contains pore-tightening actives and astringents that absorb excess oil. There’s micro-fine powder in the serum that you won’t notice but your skin will because it blurs fine lines while color correcting. I find this gives a nice glow to my skin that doesn’t look greasy. Plus it helps my foundation last! I can promise you that this $8 primer will be among my favorites for the year.

ULTIMATE STROBING KIT AND STROBING HIGHLIGHTING PENCIL

Hard Candy LOOK PRO! ULTIMATE Strobing Kit and Strobing Highlighting Duo Stick

Hard Candy LOOK PRO! ULTIMATE Strobing Kit and Strobing Highlighting Duo Stick

It wouldn’t be 2016 without strobing. In 2014 we called it highlighting but starting late in 2015 everyone started saying strobing. Whatever you call it, the LOOK PRO! ULTIMATE Strobing Kit is perfectly attuned to the times.

This $8 kit has everything you need to do your face: 2 Luminizers, Matte Bronzer, Matte Blush, a tube of Strobing Glow, and a travel size brush. The metallic kit closes firmly so it’s great for home or on-the-go. The colors in it are very flattering. I don’t use bronzers often so to find a light one that is good for some contouring is a pleasure. The color of the blush is peach and very flattering. The two luminizers will complement your look with a subtle radiant glow, nothing flashy. BUT if you want flashy that’s where the tube of Strobing Glow fits in. This gives a nice shimmer without glimmer and livens everything up. Use it on your cheekbones, your cupid’s bow, or to highlight your beautiful eyes.

For $6 you can purchase the Hard Candy Strobing Highlighting Duo Stick. These two work perfectly together but just as nicely on their own. Use this duo wherever you want to strobe. I like to draw a line down my nose and blend. It’s great to apply to your bottom lip in the middle to help create some depth and glow. The stick is soft and easy to use; it doesn’t wipe away your foundation or blush when you use it either. This Strobing pencil is great to throw in a clutch for a quick touch up too.

Both of these are highly impressive. Take off the name and no one would know that Walmart is your source.

HARD CANDY FIERCE EFFECT LIPSTICK

HARD CANDY FIERCE EFFECT LIPSTICK

HARD CANDY FIERCE EFFECT LIPSTICK

While 2016 is all about matte lipsticks not all of us love that look or the dryness. Matte isn’t the only trend for 2016 though for lips – fierce colors that can create many looks are just as new.

These 18 shades of lipstick give you a moist looking lip with lots of shine. You just need the lipstick, no gloss to top it off, to look like you have luscious lips. They come in 18 shades (not all are online): Chalkin Pink, Provocative, Show Off, Galactica, Newly Berried, Prowler, Glisten to Me, Thunder, Black Diamond, Slylac, Heart Breaker, Sky’s the Limit, Nudist, Seduced, Sunshine, Night Queen, Jealousy, and Virtual Reality. The pigmentation is off the wall.

There is a lot to like with the Fierce Effects lipsticks –

  • only $5 each
  • Highly pigmented shades that don’t need a second coat
  • Mix and match colors to create “fierce effects” with them
  • Easy to blend two shades together to create a new shade
  • Fierce Effects lipsticks are infused with argan oil
  • Moist and easy to apply, no need for a gloss

These are scented though but it’s not offensive to me since it’s a bubblegum fragrance and it doesn’t last too long. In spite of the fragrance I like that you can create an ombre lip or your own shade.

So 2016! Knowing Hard Candy it’s only the beginning. They’ve got 9 more months to come out with fresh, innovative products that are up to the minute and so wallet friendly. Which of these would you most want to use? — Marcia

Side by Side: It Cosmetics Hello Bright Eyes lights up our way

Who doesn’t need a little lift now and then?  It Cosmetics Hello Bright Eyes Silk Anti-Aging Waterproof Brighteners lift and illuminate your eyes and any other area of your face that could use a little lift.  These brightening pencils are waterproof even after 8 hours, and have tons of great ingredients for your skin.

It Cosmetics Hello Bright Eyes

Inside the box are two brightening pencils, one matte and one pearl, plus a handy pencil sharpener.

These pencils have great stuff in them, including hydrolyzed collagen, silk proteins, and vitamins C and E.  They have ‘micro-illuminating pigments of light’ to brighten the eyes, give lips the illusion of fullness, and dimish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Let’s see what Lisa and Marcia think about these anti-aging waterproof pencils.

Lisa’s Side:

Oooooh, I like these!  These two pencils are extremely versatile, wonderful highlighters.

matte and pearl brightening pencils

I love using these on my waterline and underneath my lash line, it really opens up my eyes and makes them look brighter and younger.  I have had some real issues with allergies this fall, my eyes have been so puffy and swollen it’s ridiculous.  So I’ve turned to these magic pencils time and again to help conceal the damage the pollen has been doing to my eyes.

matte and pearl

I don’t really have a favorite between the two.  The matte shade looks extremely natural and just helps make the eyes look wider.  The pearl shade is very pretty and it gives a little more brightness to the look.

matte and pearl, swatched

While I typically use the matte shade just on the waterline, I use the pearl shade on the waterline and along the lower lash line.  These are very handy pencils that definitely help me look far more rested than I do without them!

 Marcia’s Side:

I’ve been enjoying using these Hello Bright Eyes Silk Anti-Aging Waterproof Brighteners so much. Just picture me with Hello Lashes, Hello Bright Eyes and a giant smile on my face. I’m ready to say Hello to the world with these.

The first one of these pencils I tried was the Pearl one since I love to add just a touch of non-glittery, non-shimmery color to my browbone. My eyes are getting a little more hooded and I need more opening up and Pearl absolutely does that for me.

Matte and Pearl

As you can see by the pictures the two pencils are different. Pearl has a light peach tinge to it that translates to a subtle color once on my browbone. Plus you can add a little to your lips to make them look fuller! Either define your cupid’s bow or put it in the center of your lips to give yourself a subtle pout.

Matte is a more nude skin tone. I’ve used the matte in the inner corner of my eye as well as on my waterline. I don’t look natural with a glowy white in the inner corner, I think it accentuates the lines in my eyes but the matte shade of this pencil gives me that lighter look while being more natural. After a night like I had serving a houseful of people on Thanksgiving you can be assured that this was needed the next two days. It’s so effortless and opens up my eyes, making the whites look much brighter.

At Beauty Info Zone we think It Cosmetics are IT! These two pencils again prove to us that they can do no wrong. Hello Bright Eyes Silk Anti-Aging Waterproof Brighteners are a set you definitely need for this holiday season (and any season). You can find them at QVC for $24 or on the IT Cosmetics site for $29 and free shipping.

Highlighting and shading with Dan Read

I previously posted about the fantastic foundation by Dan Read, and today I want to focus on his highlighting and shading products.  These two little jars have totally changed the way I do my makeup every day.  It is amazing how much of a difference  a little contouring can make.

I guess I avoided messing with contouring  because I thought it would take a lot of time.  However, what I do adds maybe one minute to my morning routine, if that – and it makes a big difference.

The product I use to highlight is the Yellow Highlight ($15.75).

Here is my obviously very used jar.  It looks REALLY yellow, doesn’t it?  But it’s extremely natural looking when applied.  It goes on easily and sheers right out, leaving a very subtle but effective brightening effect.  The yellow counteracts dark areas, which means it works great on under eye circles and any other recessed areas on your face.  The purpose of highlighting is to bring those areas forward.  The areas I use this on every day are under my eyes, straight down the bridge of my nose, on my nasal labial folds, right above my upper lip, and just below my lower lip.

Highlighting brings areas forward, and shading pulls areas back.  For shading, I use the  Natural Shading ($15.75).  It works great because it has gray tones to it, which match real complexions.

Shading will make areas recede.  Areas I shade every day are the sides of my nose, from my cheekbone down, and sometimes under my chin.

Here I am with foundation on, as well as my highlighter and shading.  I put it on pretty dark for photo purposes.  I use my pink egg, AKA the Beauty Blender, and just dip it into each jar.  In the picture above you can see the yellow under my eyes, down my nose, on those creases next to my lips, and it’s also right above my upper lip and below my lower lip.  The shading is more obvious – it’s on the outer sides of my nose, and from my cheekbones down.

I apply these with the sponge, and then I use my finger to blend.  The heat from my finger makes the highlighter and shading just melt into my skin, and the overall look is very natural.  Above is a picture of me after I blended everything in with my fingertips.

And here is the final look.  Highlighting and shading is actually not complicated, and it doesn’t take long to do at all.  I find that Dan Read’s Yellow Highlighter and Natural Shading are super easy to use and they last forever.  They are also pretty inexpensive.  Take a chance and try them out – I think you are going to really like your look.  – Lisa
