Milani comes in all sizes with the Makeup Wars Team

Milani Spotlight Face & Eye Strobe palette in Candle Light

The original vision for this week’s Makeup Wars was a particular palette from Milani which some of the bloggers will be sharing with you. But we couldn’t all find the palette which is my main complaint with Milani. I love what Milani has become but finding specific products is often a problem. So some of us are just going with the flow and sharing what we love. I’m one of those people.

Milani Hypnotic Lights and Stellar Lights

I previously reviewed Milani Hypnotic Lights in Luminous Lights and 2 Stellar Lights palettes in Rose Glow and Holographic Beams. Gotta tell you that I am crazy about these and find they have made a nice impact on my cosmetic life. To see more about these read my review and see the photos since you’ll want these too if you can find them. I know that the Hypnotic Lights are still available and they make a great a great alternative to Becca highlighters at a third of the cost.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Highlighter in Luminous Light

Today though I want to share a palette I found at Walgreens and have gotten a lot of use from. There are 3 different SPOTLIGHT FACE & EYE STROBE PALETTES available. I chose Candle Light because a) it wasn’t broken or used which the others were and b) these are MY colors. Plus the fact that it can be used on face and eyes sold me ($13 on Milani.com and $16 on Amazon).

The colors in this palette have a glow to them which is why I like using this so much. There’s a cream, bronze, and pink but they aren’t the typical cream, bronze, and pink. Instead they are light reflecting and take on a glow that I find so attractive.

The look I get on my eyes is radiant and soft. They are the perfect antidote to winter’s darker shades. I not only wear them as is from the palette (with an eye primer first) but I also mix them to create new shades as seen above.

When I want to wear them on my face I’ve got both a blush and a highlighter that coordinate well. The middle shade is a cool pinky rose on me and I love it. I’m sure I’ll use this up first. The bronze shade in the middle adds a warmth to use for contour or a deeper blush tone. But the best is using a fluffy brush all over and lightly powdering over my entire face. There’s glow, there’s radiance but there’s not glitter. No little piece of shimmer getting into my pores to ruin my look.

If Candle Light isn’t right for your skintone how about Sunlight which is the warmer version

or Golden Light, the darker version

No matter which of these Milani products you are eyeing, you just can’t go wrong. The quality, depth of pigmentation, and price make these cosmetics you’ll really enjoy owning and more important, using! —  Marcia

Pixi Beauty is a go to brand for me, especially for party time. Not only is it affordable but it’s on point with their products. Petra knows what is going to help create the best looks. Two of those are the Strobe & Bronze palette and the Strobe & Sculpt palette. These two palettes were done in collaboration with Maryam Maquillage and they are fabulous.

Here’s a recap of the Pixi Strobe & Bronze palette that I shared before.

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

I use this palette often even though bronzing isn’t a big part of my life. But I’m able to use the bronzing shades lightly. It’s the left side of the palette though that makes me enjoy it so much.

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

Highline is a pinkish glow that I use as blush or over blush.

Empress may look purple in my picture but actually just has a lavender undertone that works so well with cool toned makeup.

Lex is a gorgeous gold that isn’t harsh at all. Just soft and lovely.

Apply highlighters to tops of cheekbones, bridge of nose, and cupid’s bow to light up features

City Kitty is the lightest of the bronze shades and on the warm side while Statuesque is the darkest. And 917 is a cool toned bronzer that’s midtone.

The three highlight and 3 bronze shades work together so well as you can top the bronze shades with the highlighters. “Bring a soft natural glow and sheer sunkissed warmth to the skin with this palette that helps add subtle dimension to your features created by Maryam of MaryamMaquillage. The highlighters give a soft glowing luminosity while the bronze shades help create natural definition.”

(available at Pixibeauty.com and Target, $20)

PIXI BEAUTY STROBE & SCULPT KIT is just as beautiful but a little darker. I don’t have swatches for it since I just have one for this giveaway so hopefully my descriptions work. The Kit comes with this great Strobe & Sculpt Brush although you can buy the brush separately too.

Pixi Strobe & Sculpt Brush

The Strobe & Sculpt Brush is made of vegan synthetic fibers and is so incredibly soft. It comes with a storage pouch too ($14 separately).

Pixi Beauty Strobe & Sculpt Brush

The Strobe & Sculpt palette to me is very similar to the Strobe & Chisel/Bronze one above so it just depends on which shades appeal to you more.

Pixi Beauty Strobe & Sculpt, highlight and contour palette

On the left side of Strobe & Scuplt (Strobe & Contour) are the 3 highlight shades:

Baby Chick is a matte cream shade that Maryam recommends you use in the center of the face to lock in foundation and brighten.

Caviar Dreams is a beautiful pinky peach blush/highlight.

Honey-Bunny is another stunner with it’s peachy gold beauty.

On the right are the three bronze/sculpt shades:

Minx is a shimmery bronzer that Maryam recommends you add to the outer contour of your face to add warmth and a bronzed glow.

Bo$$ Lady and Queen are darker shades of matte bronzers with Bo$$ Lady being the cooler of the two.

Beauty Junkees love this Powder Highlighting and Contour Kit

Beauty Junkees Powder Contour Kit

Beauty Junkees Powder Contour Kit

It came as a surprise to us that Beauty Junkees has expanded their business to include cosmetics. We have been fans of their amazing brushes and makeup sponges for quite a while but didn’t expect that their next venture would take them into cosmetics. It’s a welcome addition and we’re happy to have been sent the Powder Contour Kit to wear and show you the versatility.

The kit has six shades with 3 highlighting powders and 3 contour shades. The top row contains Banana, Vanilla, and Sand. There is no shimmer to these powders, although Sand has a subtle glow, so they can be used all over your face. Use them for a touch of color or use them as your finishing powder. I have shimmery highlighters so this is a great change of pace for me.

There’s more variation in the shades than my iPhone photo shows but they are subtle differences.

The bottom row is where the contouring comes in with Fawn, Java, and Truffle. You can easily build the colors up if you want. Since my skin is so fair I like to use the Beauty Junkees Mini Kabuki Flat Angled Brush to get a light covering that blends easily.

There’s more variation in the contour powders and there’s a shade for everyone. This is the palette you want for everyday especially if you live a conservative lifestyle or work in a conservative workplace. You can always add shimmer to jazz it up but if you start with a matte palette like this you’ll be much happier.

Sleek MakeUP makes summer shine even better with Precious Metals Highlighting Palette

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals

Sleek MakeUP first came to my attention on Makeup Alley. The ladies there were going nuts over the amazing colors of their palettes and the even more amazing prices for this highly pigmented line. I ordered eyeshadows because I had to see what the fuss was about and I didn’t regret that one bit even though it was more expensive to get in the US. Happily now Sleek has made it easy to purchase their products on their website without the high prices and shipping.

Sleek MakeUP sent us a package of some of their newest products which Lisa and I have drooled over. She recently reviewed their VIP Lipsticks which are a semi-matte. I need to remind her that she promised me Private Booth. I took the Precious Metals Highlighting Palette and Eyebrow Stylist and I’m not promising them to her, I want them all to myself.

Sleek MakeUP Precous Metals Highlighting Palette is one of three Highlighting Palettes that they’ve created ($14.99) and it’s all I could ask for, especially with summer finally here. This is a high shine palette that contains 3 cream pans and one powder one. Some are more shimmery than others but all have a radiance that I love.

The four shades (clockwise from upper left) are Platinum, Royal Gold, Antique Bronze (powder), and Renaissance Gold. These are such versatile highlighters and I’ve found you can wear them anywhere on your face and also on your body. I L.O.V.E. them on my eyes. I’ve been a fan of cream eyeshadows for years and the Precious Metals palette is perfect for me. I start with an eyeshadow primer, apply the cream shades with my finger and usually put a powder eyeshadow in the crease or sometimes Antique Bronze there. It lasts the entire day without creasing or fading.

Precious Metals: Platinum, Royal Gold

Precious Metals: Platinum, Royal Gold

Platinum is meant to lift your browbone with its creamy white with a light pink undertone. Royal Gold is a bright yet light gold that is beautiful on my lid. Sleek suggests using Royal Gold down the bridge of your nose as a highlighter.

Sleek Precious Metals: Renaissance Gold and Antique Bronze

Renaissance Gold is less sparkly so I’ve used it a lot on my eyes. Sleek’s suggestion of applying Renaissance Gold on your cupid’s bow to make your lips more prominent is a winner! It’s a wonderful shade for that especially since it’s more natural while still being metallic. Antique Bronze works wonderfully as a bronzer and a highlighter. It’s also a great eyeshadow shade.

Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette is not only a bargain to me with its 4 shades that enhance and glow but it’s one that’s going to make my summer more beautiful.

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist

I was happy when I found Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in the package. My eyebrows went from nicely shaped and filled in naturally to scraggly monsters that are thin. I desperately need eyebrow products these days and this Eyebrow Stylist is great for me. This automatic pencil comes in three shades: light, medium, and dark. I was sent Dark which is a great shade for my brunette brows.

One end contains a flat tip so that you can create a light outline and then with the pointed angled edge fill in your brows. It’s easy to use feather strokes to create an illusion of hair. What I like is that I can heavily fill in the sparseness at the front of my brows and then flip it to use lighter strokes for the rest. This really fills in well and it’s not a waxy feeling.

The spoolie isn’t unusual but it does a great job of grooming your brows so it gets an A from me!

This is not the best shot of my brows because they needed some plucking but you can see how well this fills in and looks natural. You can easily layer this or apply a darker line if you need more coverage. At $8.99 this is one of the better buys I’ve found in eyebrow pencils.

Two great finds from SLEEK MAKEUP. We no longer have to worry about the difficulty and expense of buying Sleek since they’ve made it so easy. —  Marcia
