Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation review and swatches

Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation

Beautiful summer evenings out mean lots more skin showing so why not make it fun with some shimmering body makeup? Glimmery pressed or loose powder is always an option, but I am having tons of fun withe Kryolan’s Shimmering Event Foundation ($35). I think it’s more versatile than shimmer powder and the effect is absolutely gorgeous.

samples

Shimmering Event Foundation is a very light liquid foundation that has luminescent pearlescent pigments. It comes in eight shades and the bottles are large – 1.7 fluid ounces – bigger than the 1.0 oz Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer, which is a similar product that costs almost twice as much.

I have three of the eight available shades:  Amber, Pearl, and Gold.

Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation in Amber

Amber is the deepest shade I tested, a golden bronze. It’s a marvelous face shade for medium to dark skin tones and an amazing body highlighting shade.

Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation in Pearl

Pearl is an opalescent pearl shade that is a fabulous highlighter. It’s especially great for highlighting darker areas on your face, under eyes, brows, and around lips.

Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation in Gold

Gold is a fantastic shade that gives just right amount of luminescence. I imagine this is what Jennifer Lopez has on her makeup table. It’s just as dynamite for the face as it is for the body.

I find the Shimmering Event Foundation to be extremely versatile. Sometimes I use it alone to highlight my skin – sheered out I can use Amber as a body foundation no problem. I use Pearl or Gold before applying foundation for a glowy base. I mix any of the three with my foundation or tinted moisturizer to add some gleam.

Just applying the Shimmering Event Foundation straight out of the bottle makes any area of the body look radiant, from the decolletage to the arms and legs. It’s just as fabulous on cheeks for luminosity without disco ball sparkle.

The finish is actually very subtle. If you want more you can build it up, but really it’s a very grown up, fresh glow that is pretty amazing. I just love it mixed with some tinted moisturizer for my face, and mixed with body lotion for my arms and legs before going out on the town.

Let loose and have some fun this summer with Kryolan Shimmering Event Foundation! They are truly versatile and so much fun. You can find Kryolan online at us.kryolan.com.  Enjoy!!  – Lisa

Yummy treats for cheeks and lips: Pixi Dulce Cafe con Dulce and Dulce Lip Candy Palettes

Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette and Dulce’s Lip Candy

Pixi Beauty paired up with three influensers for new color collections.  Marcia reviewed the beautiful sets by  Chloe Morello and Weylie Hoang.  Today I have the cheek and lip palettes by the beautiful blogger Dulce.  She has a gorgeous website with tremendous fashion tips and great beauty advice, and her Pixi palettes are very pretty.  Get them before they are gone!!

Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette

The Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette ($24) has nine cheek powder shades that range from light champagne to dark brown contour.  The colors are all gorgeous and work as blushes, bronzers, highlighters, or eyeshadows.  They have tons of pigment and are buttery smooth.

Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette swatches

It’s recommended to use your fingers and I actually agree if using these as eyeshadows.  It’s easier to manipulate the color and you can really create some very cool eye looks.  For cheeks, I use brushes, and they have a duochromatic effect so they give color and a glow to skin.  The texture is powder to cream which makes it very easy to play with and a lot of fun.

Dulce’s Lip Candy ($24) This palette contains nine lip and cheek colors that have antioxidants and minerals to keep skin soft and hydrated.

Pixi + Dulce’s Lip Candy

The shades range from barely there pink to deep red.  The colors are feminine and beautiful, mostly sheer but you can build them up for more tint.  A few of them are downright UBER pigmented, like Beso. You can also use them on your cheeks and in fact Dulce recommends using them as a base before putting on the cheeks powders.  Most of them are really too light to use as a blush, but a few – Beso, Flor, Canela, Corazon – could work.  My skin didn’t work well with this as a blush – it disappeared almost as soon as I put it on, but honestly my skin eats cream blush so I wasn’t surprised.  If you have normal skin it shouldn’t be a problem!  I use this as a lippie palette and it’s outstanding for that purpose.  With all the colors, you can do fun things like layer shades, or use a dark base and put a light shade right in the middle of the lip to create a fuller lip.

The lip glosses are very versatile, and if you love a full selection right at your fingertips – and literally your fingertips…I mean, you can use a brush but I am too impatient and just dip my fingers in – then this palette is well worth your money.

You can find Pixi Beauty and the Dulce Candy sets online at Pixi – get them before they are sold out and gone forever!  – Lisa

The newest in cosmetics is Nuest Jelly Highlighters

Do you ever fill out surveys that ask about your hobbies and interests? Most of them don’t include beauty products but they really should since I can’t be alone in my obsession interest. I’m a fan of cosmetics and all that goes with it and always have been. When a new company is introduced I want to know all about it.

That leads me to NUEST and the unique products they have created. Looking through their site makes me want to be young again and to have a counter or vanity full of their practical yet adorable products.

Nuest Magical Jelly Highlighters

I have two of their Jelly Highlighters and have fallen for them. These aren’t the typical cream blushes or highlighters. Instead they are a water based gel that is quick drying. They say it “jiggles, shimmers, and leaves an impressive highlight on whatever area of skin they’re applied” They are fun to use and beautiful on skin.

Starting with the packaging I just couldn’t resist these.

NUEST Jelly Highlighters

NUEST Jelly Highlighters

Those cute little boxes hold one of 5 shades: Metallic Bronze (a brassy gold), Ruby Kiss (a swirl of peach and orange), Gold Rush (a rich yellow), Twinkle Star (soft white), and Pink Luster (iridescent soft pink). They can be used just about anywhere you want some magic to occur.

Nuest Jelly Highlighter swatches

Nuest Jelly Highlighters are vegan and have a self-smoothing, memory-form technology that allows it to glide on and leave a concentrated pigment made with pearl and mica. I have both PINK LUSTER and RUBY KISS and they are great examples to show the textures that can be found.

Nuest Jelly Highlighters in Ruby Kiss and Pink Luster

Pink Luster has a looser finish than Ruby Kiss has. It’s a little more liquidy so I keep it away from too much light. This is pink at its best. It can be used anywhere  –  over your lipstick, on your decollete, on your cheekbones, on your eyes, or anywhere you want the iridescence to shine. It is so easy to use and reflects a soft pink.

Nuest Jelly Highlighters in Pink Luster and Ruby Kiss

Ruby Kiss is an especially unique shade. When I first open it I see bronze to it but looking at it more intently there’s a little red, a little peach and a little orange. It has some shimmer built in that is perfect for cheeks, eyes, and lips. Nuest even recommends adding some to your legs to add some extra glow.

These are easy to apply with your finger which is what I prefer to use. They sell a silicone sponge that they recommend but I’m happy with the control I get with my fingertip.

Ruby Kiss and Pink Luster

This is the season that highlighters really come into play so why not add some beautiful colors in a new texture to your day. The line is Vegan, Paraben-Free, Oil-Free & Cruelty-Free. They last, they are easy to apply, and they are mixable. They are practical and more important FUN!  —  Marcia

More from Nuest:

1.    Want a Natural Look?

For a simple, natural look, moisturizer is your best friend. Apply your favorite and allow it to set in. Then, apply a small amount of Nuest Magical Jelly Highlighter to key areas such as under the brow bone or diagonal along the cheekbone. This will give you a dewy finish that catches the light in a subtle, yet natural way. Twinkle Star is best because it has just enough pigmentation which is perfect for a natural glow. Nuest jelly highlighters set like powder that will resist fading, rubbing off or moving.

2.    Opting for Full Glam from Head to Toe?

Nuest offers many options. Their jelly highlighters may be mixed with your favorite moisturizer or foundation for an all over subtle glow. Next, you can add additional highlighter using their Silisponge or your fingers and begin dabbing the top of your cheek and brow bones. Accentuate your cupid’s bow, down the center of your nose and on the tip of your nose, plus, around your temples. For added glimmer, dab a small amount to your shoulders, upper chest area, arms and even your legs. For a softer shimmer you can mix a jelly highlighter with your favorite body moisturizer. Our Gold Rush is perfect for that royal glow.

3.    Want Your Eyes to Look Larger?

Emphasizing the size of your eyes is easy! You want to apply highlighter just under your brow bone, but above the crease in your eyelid and then dab a small amount in the center of your eyelid. Gold Rush or Twinkle Star are a favorite eye opener.

4.  Want your Face to Glow?

Apply a small dot of highlighter in the center of the apple of your cheek over blush and blend in a circular motion. Pink Luster or Ruby Kiss will add just the right hint of blushing glimmer.

5.     Need to Re-Shape Your Nose?

Apply highlighter along the bridge of your nose and gently blend foundation or contouring cream a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone on the sides to make your nose appear to be slimmer or hide flaws. Twinkle Star is best since there is less color pigmentation which will not interfere with your contouring.

6.     Want to Look Refreshed?

Just add just a pinch of highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes to brighten up an otherwise dark area. Then, apply a small amount in the center of your eyelid to add brightness. We recommend Gold Rush to wake up your look like the morning sun.

7.    Want Your Cheekbones to Pop?

Apply highlighter on the cheek bone in a diagonal line from just beneath the center of your eye socket up towards your hairline and blend with a Silisponge. Pink Luster or Twinkle Star are the perfect shades to catch the light. The glimmer of the highlighter, will give your cheeks a pop and glistening glow.

8.     Give You Lips for Days?

Applying a little bit of highlighter to your cupid’s bow using a concealer brush. Also, you can dab a small amount on your bottom lip right in the center or add a jelly highlighter over our favorite lip gloss or lipstick for a real statement. Try our Ruby Kiss to achieve those kiss-able lips.

9.    Would You Like a Summer Glow for Face AND Body?

Without having to bake in the sun, simply add our Metallic Bronze to your foundation or moisturizer and apply on your face. Use our Silisponge to create that perfect blend. Feel free to add it to your body moisturizer for an all over summer glow.

10.  What Areas Can You Highlight?

Highlighting can be done anywhere you would like to accentuate – besides the traditional cheeks, eyes and lips. You can go beyond and add jelly highlighter to your body lotions to add shimmer to our shoulders, legs and arms. You can even contour or add glisten to your chest when wearing a strapless or plunging neckline. Contouring your knees or legs are an option as well especially during the summer months. Simply dab a small amount to the center of your knees or a horizontal line down the front of your calves.

It’s eye inspiring! Beth Bender Beauty

As Marcia wrote about a few days ago, Beth Bender Beauty is all about accenting the eyes. I have a few more great products for you today – a brush set, a gel liner, and a fabulous highlighting palette. Use these with the stencils Marcia reviewed HERE and your look will truly be eye inspiring!

Beth Bender Sweet Dreams Highlighter Palette

samples

The Beth Bender Beauty Sweet Cheeks Highlighter Palettes ($30) highlight skin, cheeks and eyes – my how I love multi-taskers! These beautiful powders reflect light and can be used alone or layered over eyeshadow, blush, or bronzer. The different powders come in matte, iridescent and metallic finishes and also look truly gorgeous on the eyes…in fact I honestly thought this was an eyeshadow palette at first. Used with a big fluffy brush they give skin a gorgeous glow, but used with eyeshadow brushes they give lots of drama and glimmer (especially when applied wet) and last forever. My palette is called Sweet Dreams.

Get Technical is the lightest shade, a creamy iridescent champagne –

Get Technical

The second lightest is the peachy Sweeten Up that has lots of glow and glimmer –

Sweeten Up

The finally, there is the purple Siren which is matte but makes for a very interesting glow on darker skin tones –

Siren

All three shades are excellent eyeshadows as well as highlighters.

Beth Bender Brushes

Beth Bender Brushes

Beth Bender Brushes

This six piece brush set is part of the Pro Makeup collection but you can also purchase these brushes separately.  Overall, they are very nice brushes that give a lot of bang for the buck.

Beth Bender Deluxe Pointed Eyeliner Brush

The Deluxe Pointed Eyeliner Brush (originally $17, right now on sale for $12.99)…so this isn’t my favorite brush. I think it’s too long and doesn’t have enough firmness. It bends too much too use with liquid liners or gel liners. I can’t really recommend it.

Beth Bender Angled Eyeliner Brush

The Angled Eyeliner Brush ($12) is truly perfection!! And look at that price! This is a fantastic gel liner brush. If you only get one Beth Bender brush, get this one. You’ll never use another gel liner brush again – it’s that versatile.

Beth Bender Dome Shape Mini Liner Brush

The Dome Shape Mini Liner Brush ($10) will be your best friend for working with gel liners. Great for upper and lower lid lining and creating cats eye looks, especially with Beth Bender stencils.

Beth Bender Pro Medium Shadow Brush

The Pro Medium Shadow Brush ($13) is a great brush, one of my favorites. It’s very soft but dense, and really packs eyeshadow on beautifully.

Beth Bender Pro Crease Blender Brush

The Pro Crease Blender Brush ($13) is a little too long and a little too soft for my old eyes. I need my crease brushes to be a bit more dense, but if you like softer crease brushes you will love this one.

Beth Bender Concealer Brush

The Concealer Brush ($14) is darn near perfect. I love the shape and it’s the perfect size for getting into those awkward dark areas around the eye/nose areas.

Beth Bender Valeria Gel Eyeliner

Now let’s talk eyeliner! The Valeria Gel Eyeliner ($14) is astoundingly good. Look at how gorgeous this is!! The texture is wet, so there is lots of play time before it dries down. You can build this up to be as dramatic as you’d like. The metallic amethyst really shows, especially if you use one of the Beth Bender stencils as your guide in creating a winged eyeliner look.

Beth Bender Valeria Gel Eyeliner

This eyeliner doesn’t crack, wear off, flake, or smudge. It just looks amazing all day long. I love it! Now, I’m pretty partial to this beautiful amethyst shade, but there are lots of other gorgeous colors available at Beth Bender Beauty so you should head on over to the website and poke around a bit.

Don’t forget to enter our Beth Bender giveaway!!  We are giving away three different Beth Bender sets and the giveaway ends on April 9th at 11:59 p.m. EST.  Click HERE to enter and good luck!! – Lisa

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection is perfect for giving or getting

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

Let’s first bow down to the price of the Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection! At $14.88 you are getting an amazing amount of cosmetics that you can break up into three gifts, give as one gift, or keep for yourself. Hard Candy is only available at Walmart and since this is a big time to be at Walmart I wanted you to see what you should be searching out.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

sample

All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection contains a contour & sculpt kit, a blush & luminizer kit, a smoky eye kit, along with an eyeshadow primer, a perfecting primer, and a setting spray. This fabulous set has just about everything you need. If I were gifting it I’d add in a mascara and a fabulous lip shade. What a perfect gift or gifts.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

This is, of course, the first thing I opened when I received this set. Smoky Eye Kit is terrific with a mix of neutrals and even a drop of purple added. These 9 shades were coordinated to give you a variety of smoked looks. 7 of the 9 are lightly shimmered while two are more satiny.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

The pigmentation in Hard Candy eyeshadows is amazingly good. I have two sets from past years that I pick over my more expensive palettes often. The colors are true to what you see in the pan. They don’t change so you know what you’re getting. The All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection also includes an eyeshadow primer so you are set for beauty.

Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit has what you need to take your face to new places. There are 6 pans in there so you can Prep, Brighten, Contour, Blend, and Illuminate all with one palette.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

There are 4 cream products and 2 powders. It’s made to help you emphasize eyes, cheekbones, and your jawline. There’s even a tutorial guide on the back that teaches you the best placement.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

The creams are for prepping, blending, contouring, and illuminating while the two lightly shimmered powders are for brightening and contouring. Some of the shades look too dark for me but the way they blend is perfect so that it’s not obvious at all.

Hard Candy Primer Perfecting

By adding in the Sheer Envy Primer Perfecting you’ve got all you need prior to applying foundation. This primer helps to minimize lines and pores so you have a smoother finish. If you are breaking this kit apart then this is gift two.

The Blush & Luminizer Kit is a true beauty. Housed in metallic red it’s one terrific set.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

All the products are powders: Shimmer Blush in a glorious mauve/pink, Matte blush is a flattering neutral, Matte bronzer is a light bronzer without orange. The Luminizing Bronzer sits beautifully on top of the matte bronzer for a sweep of specialness and can also be used alone. The two Luminizers top off the set with their beauty in a light cream and gold.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

For gift 3 just add in the the Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray to make these products last throughout the day and evening.

Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray

I’m convinced this is the best buy on the market today. You can keep it in its original box and gift it to one person who’ll squeal with delight. Or you can break it apart into 3 gifts that cost you $5 apiece and thrill the recipients.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

I’m so impressed with the Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection that I think gifting it as one is the way to go but then again I didn’t do well in economics in school. Which way do you want to go? Whatever you choose, go to Walmart to find this limited edition cruelty free collection before it’s gone.  —  Marcia

Love it or leave it? Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops

Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops

Normally I stay away adding oil to my face. I happen to have a bit of a paranoia about being shiny…my friends tease me because I constantly ask, “Is my nose shiny? Do I need to powder my nose??” So the thought of actually adding oil to my face does not sound appealing. However….the thought of adding a lovely, glowing radiance to my skin DOES sound appealing. In the interest of science and my curiosity-killed-the-cat personality, I actually couldn’t wait to try Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops ($48).

Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops

Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops are “a makeup priming, holographic highlighting treatment oil powered by Josie’s quick-absorbing 100% Pure Argan Oil Light and pore-smoothing priming pearls for boosted elasticity, glowy radiance, and makeup-ready skin.” Essentially, it’s a highlighting oil that you can apply directly to the skin as a primer, or you can mix with moisturizer or foundation.

Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops

Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops

The first time I used it was a disaster. I used WAY too much. I had Moonstone Drops dripping off my face, horror show style. The second time I used one drop and it was heavenly. Just the right amount of radiance and it definitely worked as a primer, holding my foundation in place. It didn’t make my nose shiny as I had feared and yet it still gave my dry areas some much needed hydration. My skin looked beautiful – glowy, healthy, and happy.  Yes!!

I also like mixing a bit of this with my matte foundations for some depth, and on no-makeup days it’s great to mix with my moisturizer. A little bit goes a very long way, so the price isn’t bad. I give it a big thumbs up now that I know how to use it correctly!  This is a definite love, not a leave.

You can find the Josie Maran Argan Moonstone Drops online at sephora.com.  – Lisa

The Osmosis Colour Body Shimmer Powder in Opal is infused with Moringa Oil, which is an antioxidant that fights off free radicals. It has a very light scent that is pleasantly floral and not at all overpowering. The powder is in a jar that has a brush attached and the brush twists to allow the powder to come through. The powder can be used anywhere on the body and face.
