Cleansing with Éclair Naturals bath and body products

Eclair NaturalsIt’s not difficult to convince Lisa to try a new body care line, but Marcia? That’s a different story! Marcia is sooo picky when it comes to body care that it takes something extraordinary to entice her to take a chance.  Éclair Naturals intrigued both Lisa and Marcia with their natural food grade ingredients which include three powerhouses:                                         samples

Jojoba & Almond Oil

  • same molecular structure as human sebum (your skin’s natural oil)
  • penetrates skin and hair follicles to reduce water loss
  • reduces wrinkles/stretch marks, cleans clogged pores and restores skin’s natural PH balance

Pink Himalayan Salt and Dead Sea Salt

  • over 250 million years old
  • high concentration of key minerals such as magnesium, copper, calcium, sodium and potassium
  • critical to our skin’s metabolism

Pure Essential Oils and Natural Plant Extracts

  • contain the essence of the plant and all of its rejuvenation/resiliency characteristics
  • no phthalates like synthetic counterparts

With such great ingredients, testing this line was a no-brainer. The biggest challenge? Deciding which of the seven different scents to try.

LISA CHOSE CREAMY COCONUT:

Well of course I chose coconut! This is a scent for purists. No lime, no vanilla, no pikake…just deep, delicious coconut.  Yum.

Eclair Naturals All Over Lotion in Creamy Coconut

Eclair Naturals All Over Lotion in Creamy Coconut

Éclair Naturals All Over Lotion in Creamy Coconut ($8.99)

This is a big tube of creamy, rich body lotion that is extremely moisturizing. The ingredients include shea butter and jojoba oil, which make this medium-weight lotion exactly what you want to reach for when skin is feeling super dry. I find that it is excellent for prolonging self tanners because it really locks in moisture and leaves skin ultra hydrated and satiny soft. Eclair Naturals Shower Gel in Creamy Coconut

Éclair Naturals Shower Gel in Creamy Coconut ($8.99)

This is a beautiful shower gel that lathers up beautifully and rinses clean but doesn’t strip skin. It’s also perfect for layering scent. I use it in the shower, then follow with the Creamy Coconut All Over Lotion for an even deeper coconut scent that stays with me all day.

Eclair Naturals Handcrafted Soap in Creamy CoconutEclair Naturals Handcrafted Soap in Creamy Coconut

Éclair Naturals Handcrafted Soap in Creamy Coconut ($4.99)

Such a beautiful, big bar of soap! The coconut scent is a little lighter than the shower gel and body lotion until you actually lather this up. The lather is incredible. I find myself spending a few extra minutes washing my hands just because it feels so good! This big bar lasts a long time and is pretty enough for any powder room.

MARCIA CHOSE VANILLA AND SWEET ORANGE:

Éclair Naturals Vanilla & Sweet Orange

Éclair Naturals Vanilla & Sweet Orange

When accepting Éclair Naturals products to test the first thing I noticed was their policies. Not only are they cruelty free but they made sure they were tested by Leaping Bunny to verify that status. Not every brand is accredited by Leaping Bunny because the tests are strident, but with Éclair Naturals passion for animals they were proud to add the expense of application. Being vegan they leave out ingredients that are less expensive in order to be PETA approved too. Their products are completely free of harmful products found in traditional body care, such as GMOs, parabens, and synthetic colors & fragrances. Plus, they are cruelty-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and vegan.

I love the lather I’m getting from this Shower Gel. I feel like the fragrance is a cocktail where I’d first taste the sweet orange but the lingering sensation would be the vanilla. It’s a great combination for this shower gel. It doesn’t leave any soapy feeling behind, just a fresh clean feeling. The shower gel contains a blend of vegetable glycerin, aloe and Vitamin E. So while it’s gently cleansing the botanical extracts replenish essential nutrients.

One of the ingredients in the handcrafted soap is glycerin which forms the basis of the product. But this glycerin is from vegetable oil and not animal fat. Not all manufacturers use this type of glycerin in their bar soaps because it’s a more expensive ingredient and is normally reserved for more profitable products. The soap itself is very emollient so it’s a great hand soap for my guest bathroom. It’s nice to have a product in there that will not only look good but that will leave our hands moisturized and softly smelling like the vanilla and sweet orange fragrance.

Éclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap

Éclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap

Éclair Naturals Liquid Hand Soap

This is my most used and favorite product of the three. I am constantly washing my hands and I need something that is gentle because of that. Liquid Hand Soap has a nice rich lather but one that doesn’t strip my hands. Even in summer my hands can look dry but I haven’t really noticed that since I started using this soap. The fragrance is soft and non-lingering yet it makes my bathroom smell much more pleasant.

These products along with others in the Éclair Naturals line are all gently priced and can be found on their website. With 7 different fragrance collections (creamy coconut, grapefruit, french lavender, vanilla & sweet orange, shea butter & oatmeal, sea breeze, and Indonesian patchouli & sandalwood) there’s surely something for every member of your family.

Your hand washing regime should include Natural HomeLogics

If you are almost two years old you have routines that are very important in life. You want to do things in a certain order or it will totally mess up the moment. This actually applies to all of us to be truthful. We have routines that we like to follow but for now I’m going to talk about little T who’s 22 months old and has the smile of an angel.

She discovered the bathroom which is a big deal when you are her age. Not only did she discover it but she knows what to do in there. We quickly realized though that the only reason she wanted to go to the bathroom was to flush the toilet and then wash her hands. None of that other stuff – that’s for diapers after all.

Her bathroom routine at my house consists of opening the door, pulling the stool to the sink, and holding her hands over the basin. She’s not much of a talker but she gets her point across. First word she says in there is “froggie” which means “I want to use the froggie soap”. She loves that froggie! She rinses her hands after and says “star” which means she must use the star shaped soap next. (The longer this takes, the happier she is.) But is she done? No she wants “pump” and that’s when the fun begins.natural homelogics on handThe pump creates a foaming soap which makes her giggle her adorable giggle. What can I do except give in to her need for washing her hands?

Natural HomeLogics Foaming Hand Soap

This is what I do. I let her use NATURAL HOMELOGIC FOAMING HAND SOAP because I know it’s totally safe for her and the rest of us.

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap

I like to use a liquid hand soap and this is one of the best I’ve tried. It’s Triclosan Free and doesn’t rely on harsh chemical ingredients to do the job. Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap is available in two scents, Citrus Grove and Jasmine Mist. It’s a natural formula that’s gluten free, vegan, and made for people with sensitive skin. Both little T and I have sensitive skin, especially her. I wash my hands dozens of times a day so having this gentle soap that cleans even my greasy hands but washes away without any residue is perfect for all of my family.

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Grove

Natural HomeLogic was created by Jill Taft so that her family (and all of ours) could use natural, safe and effective products. Besides the Foaming Hand Soap you can find wonderful products for your Tot (TotLogic), pet (BarkLogic), Laundry, dishes, odor eliminator, toilet bowl cleaner and getting rid of lice (LiceLogic) and bedbugs (Natural HomeLogic). She’s thought of everything we need.

I received this from the company but I’ve already ordered another Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Grove from drugstore.com ($4.95 regular, $4.49 on sale) because I know little T will be using this up and wanting more – just like her grandmother! — Marcia

10 Budget Friendly Back-to-School Beauty Essentials

Whether you or your kids are going back to school or off to college, it’s the perfect time of year to find deals on essential beauty products.  The Meijer Beauty team challenged me to find my top back-to-school picks, and it was gratifying to see my must-have bath, body and color items with wonderful prices.  Considering I work in a high school and have kids in both college and middle school, I am all about finding the best products at the right price.  Drumroll please…my top ten recommendations for essential (and budget friendly) back-to-school products.

Soap for school: J.R. Watkins Foaming Hand Soap and I love...Coconut & Cream Shower Gel

Soap for school: J.R. Watkins Foaming Hand Soap and I love…Coconut & Cream Bubble Bath and Shower Cream

1.  J.R. Watkins Foaming Hand Soap ($4.99, I got it at Meijer for $4.49)  The reason I first bought this hand soap was for the awesome vintage label.  The reason I keep buying it?  It’s excellent foaming hand soap, especially for the price.  The soap in public buildings like schools is usually pretty rough stuff, I wash my hands all the time.  My solution is to bring my own.  I keep this soap in my office, and it would fit nicely into a locker.  I like the Aloe and Green Tea scent as a real mood enhancer to help get the school year off right.

2.  I love…Coconut & Cream Bubble Bath and Shower Cream ($7.29)  This British brand is soooo good…doesn’t the packaging look like the Philosophy bottles?  I actually prefer the I love… brand, and it is so much more affordable.  I start my day with a shower then end it with a bubble bath, and the Coconut & Cream scent takes me right back onto vacation.

Necessities for school

Necessities for school

3.  Goody 50 piece Ouchless No Metal Elastics ($2.19, but I got mine at Meijer for $1.10!)  The perfect way to hide morning bedhead is with a ponytail or bun…and these Ouchless Elastics don’t snag, pull, or break hair strands.

4.  Nivea Lip Butter in Caramel Cream Kiss ($3.99)  This super cute lip butter has only been available in the U.S. for about a year, and I am so happy it’s easily found now!  It has great slip and keeps lips soft and moist, plus it tastes like caramel toffee.  Yum.

5.  Meijer Hand Sanitizer ($1.19)  This is simply a must-have for purses and backpacks.  You never know who was sitting in that desk or what nose they were picking…eewwwwww.

Perfect colors for back to school!

Nudes and deep pinks

Nudes and berries

6.  Cover Girl Bombshell Volume by Lashblast Mascara ($9.39)  I think this is the best drugstore mascara out there.  One end is the base coat, which gives definition and length perfect for casual days.  When I want more oomph – and I mean fantastic oomph – I use the other end, the intensifying top coat.  This side darkens lashes and provides mega-drama without any flakes or smearing.

Physician's Formula Nude Eyes

Physician’s Formula Nude Eyes

Nude Eyes - gorgeous.

Nude Eyes – gorgeous.

7.  Physician’s Formula Nude Eyes ($9.99, but I got mine at Meijer for an incredible $6.99)  I am loving neutral, nude eyes with berry cheeks for the fall, and this nude eyeshadow palette is to die for.  Is it reminding you of the Urban Decay Naked2 palette?  Yup, me too, but this is way cheaper with the same quality.  Use these shadows dry or wet for more intensity, and keep the palette sitting out because the packaging is stunning.

Maybelline Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose

Maybelline Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose

8.  Maybelline Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose ($8.29)  Just check out the gorgeousness of this mosaic highlighter/blush.  The soft, creamy shades can be used alone, but I like to swirl a big brush over the whole thing for a beautiful berry glow on my cheeks.

Nicole by OPI mani and pedi shades for school

Nicole by OPI mani and pedi shades for school

9 and 10.  Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Sing You Like a Bee and Cocoa a Gogo ($5.99 each)  Going back to school is an awesome reason to treat yourself to a manicure and a pedicure, and these two shades are perfect for a nude and berry combo.

Sing You Like a Bee

Sing You Like a Bee

Sing You Like a Bee is from the Carrie Underwood collection.  This is a gorgeous sheer white with golden shimmers.  It is a beautiful shimmery nude look by itself, and it makes a perfect top layer over pretty much any color.

Cocoa a Gogo

Cocoa a Gogo

Cocoa a Gogo is a shimmery chocolate-brown that I love for pedicures…and it is the perfect color for transitioning into cool days and cozy nights by the fire.  Even better, it smells like cinnamon!

Not only are these ten products essentials, it also costs less than $55 to purchase them all at Meijer.  Get your style on for back to school and save money too!

Beautifully clean with Faith Aromatherapy

Faith Aromatherapy is a beautiful bath and body line based on essential oils that heal the body, mind, and soul. They avoid synthetic fragrances and chemicals in their spa quality products, instead using pure, natural ingredients that are genuinely effective as well as good for the environment. I love their products and there are three in particular that I turn to time and again: Tahitian Monoi Perfumed Shower Gel, Balneotherapy Salts in Just Breathe, and Lemongrass/Fennel Hand and Body Wash.

The Tahitian Monoi Perfumed Shower Gel ($12.99) is a liquid soap that creates a soft foam. The main ingredient is Tahitian Monoi oil, known for cleansing and soothing skin while also soothing the mind and spirit. Sweet Orange Oil makes the natural scent even more delicious, while glycerin conditions and softens the skin. This shower gel is a beautiful way to get clean every morning.

When it comes to bath time, I absolutely love the Balneotherapy Salts ($10.99) from Faith Aromatherapy’s Apothecary remedy products. They have five different types of bath salts available, including Keep Your Peace, Just Breathe, Be Flexible, Flu Prevention Ginger, and Awaken Your Senses.  My choice is Just Breathe.

Just Breathe has an awesome combination of eucalyptus and sweet orange essential oils. Along with the epsom salts, the combo clears my stuffy nose like nothing else. It also helps to ease aching muscles and sea salt is fabulous for clearing your energy and getting yourself back into spiritual alignment. This is strong stuff and it is perfect for when colds or allergies strike.

Last but not least, the Lemongrass/Fennel Moisture Rich Sanitizing Hand and Body Wash ($9.99) is a wonderful hand soap. It smells citrusy and clean thanks to the essential oils and Olive Leaf Extract. I wash my hands all the time and many soaps leave them parched. This one never does, and it smells so good – and that fragrance is what helps protect hands from germs, fungus, and bacteria.

Faith Aromatherapy is a wonderful line, particularly if you are into essential oils and the mind/body/spirit connection. They also have body scrubs, body lotions and creams, and natural deodorant. Plus, in the Apothecary you can fill out a questionnaire and they will make a custom blended essential oil just for you. Check it out and get calm, healthy, and happy!  – Lisa
