Pai-Shau haircare – salon style hair at home

Pai-shau haircare product line

Pai-Shau haircare product line

Today is Top Ten Tuesday but I’m only sharing 5 products with you. I hope you’ll forgive me but Pai-Shau is such an outstanding line with unique ingredients that no other line wanted to share in the glory of it.

After being the CEO of Moraccanoil for over 10 years Mr. Pai-Shau Zohar Paz was on a trip to Vietnam and became fascinated with an ancient bathing ritual involving tea and decided to bring it back to North America. Pai-Shau haircare was later born using a Signature Exotic Tea Complex with advanced weightless technology. The Pai-Shau line has only been in existence for less than 1 year and salons across the continent are carrying and using this beneficial line made in Canada.

There are 5 products in the line meant to enrich, hydrate, and give nutrition to your hair. Pai-Shau infuses moisture with their exclusive tea antioxidants, vitamins B, C, and E, rice amino acids and oat proteins.

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL REPLENISHING HAIR CLEANSER:

Pai-shau Replenishing Hair Cleanser and Replenishing Cream Conditioner

Pai-Shau Replenishing Hair Cleanser and Replenishing Cream Conditioner

This shampoo is one of the most bubbly I’ve ever used. I barely need any product to wash my hair yet it provides oodles of suds that don’t strip my hair. It’s highly concentrate and is sulfate free so it protects my color treated hair. ($26)

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL REPLENISHING CREAM CONDITIONER is to be used in conjunction with their hair cleanser. The combination gives me a finish that is easy to comb through without weighing my hair down at all. At first it feels so lightweight that I was worried my hair would be tangly but that wasn’t the case. Just leave it on for a minute before rinsing; you won’t believe how nice your hair feels after. ($28)

PAI-SHAU HYDRATING RITUAL SUPREME REVITALIZING MASK

Pai-shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-Shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-shau Revitalizing Mask

Pai-Shau Revitalizing Mask

This mask is so rich that I need just the smallest amount for my shoulder length hair. It’s a 5 minute mask so after washing my hair with the cleanser I apply this next, leaving it on while I’m doing other shower jobs. This mask has many jobs: anti-static, nourishing, hydrating, volume, and shine. It’s well worth the $30 cost (MSRP $43) since it will last you for so long. Like all of the haircare it contains the Signature Exotic Tea Complex. What makes this so unique is that in spite of it being a mask that you’d expect to flatten hair, it adds volume. It’s so effective that I only use it once every other week. My hair doesn’t need it more than that. I love that it comes with its own spatula to remove the product from the jar.

PAI-SHAU DESIGN RITUAL STYLE SOUFFLE

Pai-shau Style Souffle

Pai-Shau Style Souffle

I probably sound like a broken record by now but all the products from Pai-Shau have the uncommon characteristics of being lightweight, nourishing, and reparative. The Style Souffle is no exception to that. This is a light hairspray that you can use it on wet or dry hair. Use it on wet hair by working it through. Later use it on dry hair as a spray to help hold your hair in place. This is especially good for women who style their hair into a real style. Your hair will be soft and supple but you’ll have control and manageability.

PAI-SHAU ENHANCE RITUAL BIPHASIC INFUSION is the star of the show. This is the first product developed in the line and is unlike anything I’ve ever tried before.

Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion

Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion

Just like a bi-phase eye makeup remover, you have to shake this to activate the ingredients. The contents need to be blended and once they are it’s like releasing a genie from the bottle to work her special skills on your hair. This redefines the word “weightless”. At first when you put it on your hand to distribute it through your tresses, it feels a little sticky. But that feeling is gone before you know it and your hair doesn’t even feel like you’ve added anything to it. But the magic has begun and your hair will be shinier, more manageable, vital, smooth, and resistant to frizz and breakage. This is the best product in the line and the reason I keep using it.

Pai-Shau has some wonderful attributes like being free of gluten, parabens, sulfates, phosphates, and no added sodium chloride (the killer of a keratin treatment). It’s also cruelty free, vegan friendly, and residue free. The only problem I have with the line is the fragrance since it’s on the strong side. It took me a while to get used to the scent but I’ve read how others are mesmerized by it. I notice the fragrance for a few hours after I wash my hair but by mid-afternoon I’ve forgotten about it. Plus I like the results so much that I’m willing to ignore my nose.

If you are like I am you love trying new brands of haircare to see the difference it can make in the way your hair looks. Pai-Shau is the next brand to put on your list to try. I think you’ll be surprised like I was.  — Marcia

I hope you’ll join the other Top Ten ladies – maybe they won’t cheat!!

Soft, swingy, sweet smelling hair with Carol’s Daughter Mirabelle Plum Shampoo and Conditioners

I am not usually a big fan of products with noticeable fragrance…I like my purposefully chosen perfume to be itself without having to compete with other scents that probably aren’t compatible. But I am in love with the Mirabelle Plum hair products from Carol’s Daughter and the plum scent is one of the main reasons.

Carol's Daughter Mirabelle Plum Shampoo and Conditioner

Not that these products aren’t fabulous for my hair in general. The Mirabelle Plum Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner ($22) come together in a ‘Health Duo’. The shampoo is for fine, dry hair, and even though it doesn’t have those drying sulfates it still gives a nice foam. It leaves my hair full, soft, and moisturized. The conditioner really hydrates but it doesn’t weigh down my fine hair. And the plum scent is FANTASTIC. Plus it really sticks around…it’s one of those where all day long people comment on how nice my hair smells. It makes for a great moment when I get a quick whiff, too. The ingredients include Mirabelle Plums, biotin, grapeseed oil, aloe leaf juice, and sweet almond oil. The result is awesome, especially for dry ends and fine hair.

When my hair is feeling especially dry, I use the shampoo and the Mirabelle Plum Biotin Hair Mask ($14). This is an even thicker version of the conditioner and it does some serious repair to dry ends. I end up using this once a week for some extra hydration.

Carol's Daughter Mirabelle Plum Leave-in Biotin Conditioner

Carol’s Daughter Mirabelle Plum Leave-in Biotin Conditioner

The Mirabelle Plum Leave-in Biotin Conditioner ($11) is probably my favorite of all the Mirabelle Plum hair products. It’s a spray in that’s applied to damp hair before blow drying and styling, and it is fabulous. No silicones weigh down hair, but it strengthens, detangles, and really gives my hair tons of body. The plum scent, again, is to die for. Love it!

If you haven’t tried Carol’s Daughter hair products, I definitely recommend these, especially for fine, dry, or thin hair.  Be sure to pick some up, and believe me you are going to love the yummy plum scent.  – Lisa

Nourish hair with Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask

Korres Hair Mask

I can’t believe I am writing this, but sometimes I actually long for the days when my hair was so oily I had to wash it every single day. The constant washing/styling was a pain, but boy, my hair sure was naturally silky soft and shiny back then.

Nowadays…not so much. I still have nice hair but it needs HELP. My ends get so dry and they are prone to splitting, especially when I use heat styling tools. My hair is fine so super heavy treatments can weigh it down. I need a moisturizing treatment that tackles split ends and gives my fine hair some volume and I was hoping to find what I need in the KORRES Almond & Linseed Hair Mask  ($22.50) I was sent.

Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask

Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask

The Almond and Linseed Hair Mask is a silicone-free conditioning mask that specifically addresses split ends. Ingredients include organic extracts from the Greek island of Crete that serve as antioxidants, along with almond and linseed to treat and prevent split ends. It also has Vitamin B3 and provitamin B5 for more textural support.

  • Repairing mask for dry and damaged hair
  • Helps nourish hair with moisture
  • Helps hair retain its moisture
  • Helps increase hair’s resistance against breakage and split ends with continued use
  • Helps control frizzy hair
  • Unique mix of extracts from the island of Crete contains aloe, dittany, mountain tea and marjoram
  • Contains almond and linseed extracts, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil, murumuru seed butter, hydrolyzed wheat protein, Vitamin B3 and Vitamin B5
  • Contains no silicone, parabens, propylene glycol, mineral oil, petrolatum or ethanolamines
Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask

Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask

I really like this mask. It’s different from any other that I’ve tried. It has a light slightly sweet almond scent that dissipates quickly and while the mask is thick it rinses away cleanly. I find that the Almond and Linseed Hair Mask really takes care of split ends. Because it is silicone-free, it doesn’t leave hair slippery soft. It actually gives it some texture and increases volume, which is rather unusual for a conditioning treatment.

If you have dry, damaged hair with split ends, I recommend giving the Korres Almond and Linseed Hair Mask a whirl. While it doesn’t create silky hair, it does give major hydration and really great texture and volume. You can find it online at Sephora and HSN.  – Lisa

Feeding my hair with the Hair Food Moisture Collection

photo from jangohealthandfitness.co.uk

photo from jangohealthandfitness.co.uk

I used to be a terrible food snob. I shopped at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s only, thinking that my local grocery store was full of nothing but processed foods and chemicals that would ultimately kill me. I felt the same way about my hair products. If it didn’t come from the salon, it must not be any good. My intentions were good…I wanted to make sure I was living in the most healthy way possible. But my reasoning was definitely flawed. There are tons of healthy foods at my local grocery store for a third of the price I was paying at the other markets. There are also great hair care products to be found there that are super healthy for hair – not to mention my wallet.

Clairol Hair Food Moisture Collection

Clairol Hair Food Moisture Collection

I was recently sent the new Hair Food Moisture Collection. This former hair care snob was intrigued by the inspiration for this collection…power foods that feed hair’s hunger for nourishment. The package even included these beautiful teas in Strawberry Ginger Black Tea and Apricot Honey Black Tea, both inspired by the Hair Food Collections.

Hair Food Tea

The Moisture Collection includes the Hair Food Moisture Shampoo ($9.99), the Hair Food Moisture Conditioner ($9.99), and the Hair Food Moisture Mask ($11.99). They all have a very slight scent of honey and apricots, which are the power ingredients. The scent is light and very pleasant. I actually wish it stuck around but it dissipates pretty quickly.

Hair Food Moisture Collection

The Moisture Shampoo gives lots of lather and is gentle, even on my color-treated hair. The Moisture Conditioner is indeed moisturizing and the three hydrators lock in moisture and keep my hair soft and swingy.

The Hair Food Moisture Hair Mask is great as a once a week treatment. This isn’t a mask you need to pile on…a little goes a long way. Be sure to rinse well because it’s so moisturizing it can leave hair feeling a little sticky when it’s wet. After hair dries it is unbelievably smooth, shiny, and soft.

Overall, this is a very impressive trio of hair goodness. I love what it does for my hair, and the price is definitely right. The Hair Food Moisture Collection will for sure be a repurchase for me. You can find these products at Target, along with the other Hair Food Collections including Root Cleansing and Volume.  – Lisa

CHI Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque review and giveaway

CHI Rejuvenation Masque

CHI Rejuvenation Masque

I always thought of the brand CHI as a hair tool company. I remember drooling over their flat irons when I worked at ULTA and debating which one to buy when they had an employee discount day. That CHI flat iron lasted a long time and is still floating around the family. Now I’ve learned that CHI has a lot of haircare items and one line that looks interesting to me is their CHI ARGAN OIL line.

CHI Argan Oil products

CHI Argan Oil products

I was sent the Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque to test out and happily they sent an extra for me to share with one of you. While the Argan Oil line is one with 4 parts to it, I was most interested in this hair masque to see how it could help my locks.

CHI Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque

CHI Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque

This is a thick masque and I personally don’t need a lot when I use it. My hair is thin and shoulder length so one mounding quarter size is enough for me. I find it adds on maybe 1-2 minutes in the shower at most. After I wash my hair I’ll use the Chi Rejuvenating Masque as my conditioner. I leave it on about 3 minutes though you can leave it on longer and do shower things like shaving or exfoliating. Once I wash it out my hair is super soft. I don’t find that I need anything on my hair to comb it since it falls smoothly into place. Two drops of a hair oil protects my hair from blow drying and hot tools. CHI has one in this line, Argan Oil Plus Moringa Oil that adds to the efficacy of the masque and adds an SPF factor along with antioxidants.

CHI Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque

CHI Argan Oil Rejuvenating Masque

What the masque does is give hair nourishment and repairs it with the essential vitamins and antioxidants they use in the formula. It helps smooth frizz while restoring shine and the appearance of your hair’s appearance. This has a fragrance to it and I do notice it on the day I first use it. But it fades away. I’ll use Chi’s Rejuvenating Masque about every 10-14 days though it’s recommended for use once a week. I don’t find I need a mask more than every other week though.

This is sold wherever CHI products are available, a lot of salons carry the line, Ulta, and Loxabeauty.com.

Green + Glam Hair Serum – side by side

green + glam

GREEN + GLAM has created what they call a Hair Repair Mask/Replenishing Serum but it’s not a mask like your mind imagines when you think mask. Instead it’s an oil that protects your hair from the environment and the stresses we put our hair through with all the heat products that we use.

We were each sent a bottle to test and now we’re ready to entice you with our findings.

MARCIA SIDE:

Green + Glam

Green + Glam

I call Green + Glam a hair oil serum and never thought of it as a ‘mask’ until I looked it up to find where you could buy it. To me a mask is a thick cream that I apply in the shower and leave on to soften my hair. Green + Glam ($24.99) can be used as a mask though and as a styling product. If you use it as a mask then apply it to your damp hair and put on a shower cap. 20 minutes is the recommended time of use. Then wash your hair as you normally would. It’s up to you whether you need to use conditioner after shampooing, I find my hair is so soft after using this as a mask that I can skip conditioning.

Me with shiny easy to control hair after Green + Glam

Me with shiny easy to control hair after Green + Glam

I’ve also used Green + Glam Hair Repair Mask aka Replenishing Serum as a styling product but I have to be very very careful about how much I use. The best way for me to use it is just a drop warmed up in my hands and smoothed through. It protects my hair from my blow dryer and my heated tools and leaves it smooth and shiny.

LISA’S SIDE

Marcia is so right…I need to be careful how much of this I use because it is very powerful stuff!

Green and Glam Replenishing Hair Serum 2The first time I used it, I put in the typical amount of serum that I use on wet hair. I have long hair, about mid-back length, so I usually need four pumps of serum. Well, don’t need four pumps of this stuff! Four pumps left me with wet looking hair even after it was blown dry. I used some dry shampoo and quickly recovered, but I learned my lesson. Less is more with Green + Glam Replenishing Serum, and one pump leaves my hair super soft, hydrated, and full of bounce. The serum has a great combination of acai berry oil, ginger extract, organic neroli oil and other fruit oils that give me hair like silk.

Once I actually used Green + Glam correctly!

Green + Glam Replenishing Serum is a wonderful hair treatment that makes for a great hair day.  Just be sure to use the right amount for a ‘hair do’ instead of a ‘hair don’t’!
