Masks of the Month from The Body Shop

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask and British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask and British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

Last month I introduced what I hope will be a monthly post: Masks of the Month. I started with ToGoSpa and their lip and eye masks plus Hada Labo Tokyo sheet masks and why I liked these. I’m all about masks and love to use them therefore this month I’m going to share with you some Body Shop masks that I was sent. Not everyone loves sheet masks but there’s an alternative, turn to The Body Shop for one or more of their jar masks. The Himalayan Charcoal Purify Glow Mask was particularly great for me at holiday time but also great since then.

The Body Shop HIMALAYAN CHARCOAL Purifying Glow Mask

The Body Shop HIMALAYAN CHARCOAL Purifying Glow Mask

This 100% Vegan Mask is muddy looking goodness. Charcoal masks are meant to deep clean and that’s what I like about it. I have pores but I don’t like pores! Therefore once a week or once every other week is very helpful for those getting the gunk out of my pores, especially the ones on my nose. Even though I exfoliate often my nose often doesn’t want to cooperate. The Himalayan Charcoal mask has helped with the cleansing I need.

Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

As many of you know I am phobic about fragrance so I worried about this mask but it has an intoxicating tea fragrance. Ingredients include Bamboo Charcoal from the Himalayan foothills, Community Trade Tea Tree Oil from Kenya, and Green Tea Leave from Japan.

Full Ingredients

Aqua/Water/Eau, Kaolin, Moroccan Lava Clay, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Alcohol Denat., Camellia Sinensis Leaf, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Pumice, Argania Spinosa Shell Powder, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Charcoal Powder, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Limonene, Linalool, Methylpropanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Menthol, Disodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil/Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citric Acid, Menthoxypropanediol, Citral, Geraniol, Coumarin, Caramel.

Himalayan Charcoal Purity Purifying Glow Mask ($28) can be left on for 5-10 minutes. In 10 minutes it completely dries down but isn’t stiff. I use a muslin cloth to wash it off and then continue with my skincare. The Body Shop recommends using it 2 to 3 times a week but I think that depends on your particular needs.

The Body Shop BRITISH ROSE Fresh Plumping Mask

The Body Shop BRITISH ROSE Fresh Plumping Mask

The other mask that I have from The Body Shop is British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask. When I first saw the words “british rose” I worried about the fragrance. Even though a mask is on for a short time my sensitive nose can pick it up all day long BUT this smells pretty darn good and I don’t mind it at all. This mask is the total opposite in texture of the charcoal mask as this one is gel like. As a matter of fact it reminds me of a jar of jelly. It’s soft and has little bits of rose petals crushed into it. Sort of like Valentine’s Day in a jar.

The Body Shop BRITISH ROSE Fresh Plumping Mask

The Body Shop BRITISH ROSE Fresh Plumping Mask

This too is 100% Vegan but it works to plump and moisturize your skin. The British Rose mask never dries down. It stays moist just like it wants your skin to feel. It’s especially nice if your skin is feeling dehydrated by winter winds and weather. The three key ingredients are rose petals and essence of hand-picked roses from Britain, Rosehip oil from Chile, and Community Trade Aloe Vera from Mexico.

Full Ingredients

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Propanediol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-32, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Alcohol Denat., Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Rosa Gallica Flower Powder, Parfum/Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Methylpropanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Disodium EDTA, Rose Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Menthoxypropanediol, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, CI 14700/Red 4

While I don’t feel that my face looks all glowy after using this it does feel hydrated. I leave this on for about 10 – 15 minutes before washing it off with a washcloth, either muslin or terry.

One reason I love to use masks so much is that whenever I notice that my face needs some extra help, whether that’s hydration, deep cleansing, or a fresh glowing face, I turn to a mask. It gives my face the extra vitality that I need to make a change. Are you ready for a change?  Try The Body Shop masks!  —  Marcia

While you are at Walmart you need to find the MASQUEOLOGY facial masks. These $2.50 masks sold out quickly online although you can ask for an alert to let you know when they’ll be back in stock. It was very hard for me to believe that these are only $2.50. These sheet masks compare to much more expensive ones.

Masque*ology

Masque*ology

The 4 types are Special Care Cream Mask with amazing benefits. This one is great for dry sensitve skin because it moisturizes and hydrates. It’s going to lift and firm skin while it helps diminish the signs of fine lines. The Vita Clarifying Mask is meant for dull tired skin. It’s loaded with vitamins which helps to clarify skin and combats free radicals. My favorite is the Moisturizing Cream Mask. This lovely contains hyaluronic acid and caviar. Ooh la la. The Moisturizing Cream Mask is an excellent hydrator. There’s also Collagen Lifting Cream Mask which is one I need to find more of. This and the Moisturizing mask need to be in the stockings of all the women you know over 40. We can definitely use this revitalization and help in building collagen in our skin.

I’m a big nail polish fan so I’m sending you over to Ulta to find trio of beautiful polishes from PACIFICA. They’ve come out with a set of fall/winter polishes that will make a fabulous gift.

Pacifica Polish trio

Pacifica Polish trio

Pacifica is the brand for anyone you like that wants to use cruelty-free, vegan polishes and ones that are 7 Free. The three shades in the set are Luxe Interior, Wonderland, and London Tomboy.

Pacifica Winter Trio

Pacifica Winter Trio

Luxe Interior is a beautiful black cream with silver sparkles. With two coats it becomes a textured polish. I also tried it with one coat of a black cream polish and Luxe Interior over it and I lost most of the texture. Both are lovely ways to wear this shade. Wonderland is my favorite of the trio since it’s an off white, not quite cream shade. It has subtle shimmer within that I wish wasn’t quite so subtle. London Tomboy is a dark teal green, not quite a true green since it has a blue undertone. This is a beautiful cream polish. Be sure you apply a base coat since dark shades like this can stain.

Keep your eyes open when shopping at Ulta and Walmart for some gifts you may not have thought of before. All three of these brands will bring a smile to a beautiful face.  —  Marcia

The Body Shop At-Home Facial Mask Experience with the Recipes of Nature Collection

Recipes of Nature CollectionI think we could all use a little de-stressing right now, and The Body Shop has a nifty five-in-one collection of facial masks called the Recipes of Nature Collection.  Each mask is full of superfoods, 100%  vegetarian ingredients, and have no parabens, paraffins, silicone or mineral oils.  This is a beautiful set that will put you and your skin totally at ease.                                                                                                                                                                 samples

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

What I love about this set is the concept of ‘multi-masking’.  I love to multi-task…put the word ‘multi’ into anything and I pay attention.  Your skin isn’t typically all dry or all oily or all congested.  Some parts need one kind of help while other parts need a totally different intervention.  The Recipes of Nature Collection has five great masks that can be used together on different areas of your face…it’s what we call in the educational field ‘differentiation’, recognizing that everyone isn’t in the same place and we all have different needs.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

The five masks in this collection include AMAZONIAN ACAI ENERGIZING RADIANCE MASK,  ETHIOPIAN HONEY DEEP NOURISHING MASKBRITISH ROSE FRESH PLUMPING MASKHIMALAYAN CHARCOAL PURIFYING GLOW MASK, and CHINESE GINSENG AND RICE CLARIFYING POLISHING MASK.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

The Amazonian Acai Energizing Radiance Mask is a gel mask with acai berry and guarana seed extract.  It is an exfoliating gel facial mask that revives and energizes the skin.  If you are really tired or feeling super stressed, this is the mask for you.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask is another gel mask gel-textured moisturizing mask that plumps up dry skin and makes it super soft.  My cheeks are always so dry that I need this mask there…but my t-zone doesn’t need it.  That’s why the multi-masking approach is so perfect.  Ingredients include the ultra moisturizing aloe vera and pressed, crushed, and blended rose petals, which you can definitely smell right when you open the jar.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

The Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask is a beautiful honey based mask that moisturizes skin and improves elasticity.  Super dry skin will practically cry in relief from this combination of honey, marula oil, and olive oil.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask was the first mask I tried because I had a bizarre breakout in my t-zone.  This mud mask is a great decongestant for skin that pulls out toxins.  Bamboo charcoal, tea tree oil, and green tea leaves make this mask a total zit-busting treatment.

Recipes of Nature Mask Collection

The Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask is probably the most unusual of the masks, with a white almost chalky texture that exfoliates and tones skin.  It brightens the complection and reduces pore size with ginseng, rice extract, and sesame seed oil.

Whatever you skin needs, there is an answer within the Recipes of Nature Collection.  I highly recommend you pick this up and experiment with multi-masking.  And in some really great news, with the purchase of any of these masks The Body Shop will restore 1 square meter of rainforest through their new Bio-Bridges program. The ultimate goal is to restore 75 million square meters by 2020!  So you can feel good about feeling less stressed while also multi-tasking with multi-masking.  Sounds good to me!  – Lisa

Flora•py sheet masks – better than therapy. Giveaway news too

Florapy Floral Therapy Facial Sheets

Florapy Floral Therapy Facial Sheets

When was the last time you used a mask? I bet it wasn’t recently and I bet you might be regretting that. When Flora•py sent me 4 of their 8 facial therapy masks I was eager to try them out but I had so many others masks that I put them aside and forgot about them. Big mistake that’s been rectified now.

Florapy Floral Therapy Facial Masks

Florapy Floral Therapy Facial Masks

Let me tell you about Flora•py now that I have your attention. No matter what your need, Florapy has a mask for that. Even Skin Tone, Detox, Stress-Relief, Strength+Energy, Anti-Aging, Deep-Hydration, Clear Complexion, and Sweet Dreams are all available for $8 each.

All Florapy masks are infused with essential oils and aromatherapy. They are full face masks that give you a 15 – 20 minute period of total relaxation while working on whatever your skin is demanding of you. I started with the Sunflower Lemon mask for Even Skin Tone because I knew that the fragrance was right for me. This has a lemon aromatherapy and I’m a huge citrus fan. Lemon aromatherapy empowers harmony, synergy and joy while invigorating the senses.

Florapy Sunflower Lemon Even Skin Tone Mask

Florapy Sunflower Lemon Even Skin Tone Mask

The combination of sunflower and lemon bring powerful nutrients to hydrate, soften, nurture, and condition skin. The lemon is a gentle acidic that will help diminish the appearance of dark spots and discoloration. I really hadn’t thought about a mask working to give me an even skin tone before but now I’m sold on it. I think the 5 pack ($38) would do wonders to keep up what the single sheet provided especially since it’s recommended to be used 1 – 3 x per week.

Florapy Blackberry Primrose Deep Hydration Mask

Florapy Blackberry Primrose Deep Hydration Mask

The second mask I used was the Blackberry Primrose Deep Hydration Mask. “Primrose aromatherapy empowers love, confidence, strength and rejuvenation.” Doesn’t that sound lovely?

I chose this one for 2 reasons. Not only did I want the anti-oxidants that I know blackberries are loaded with but I also wanted the hydration this would provide. The primrose flower fights away damaging free radicals, while renewing, protecting and energizing the skin for rapid hydration and repair.

Both masks are enhanced with Recovery Essence 8 – a proprietary blend of vervain flower, grapeseed oil, olive oil, clary sage oil, carrot oil, almond oil, rosehip and vitamin E.

I didn’t tell you the best part. These are all 100% coconut masks that are infused with essential oils and aromatherapy. They feel different than other masks and of course smell different too. The coconut material holds 20x its weight in water and adheres well to your face. You won’t feel sticky with these. Your face will feel cool and you’ll feel like the world has disappeared for about 20 minutes.  —  Marcia

Got a minute? That’s all you need for this Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask giveaway

As someone who uses a lot of masks I almost run out of words to describe them but Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask is unique enough to stand out from the crowd. We mostly know Bioré from the infamous nose strips. I know I was just about addicted to them. They were one of the first skincare items that I always bought. Now Bioré has expanded their repertoire to many items that help with your pores. Let’s think of Bioré as the pore cleansing brand.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask was sent to me to test and it did so much more than I expected it to do. What I learned when I received this is that it was a thermal mask meant to open pores and draw out and dissolve dirt, oil, and surface toxins. This is a very gentle formula that you are exfolilating with by melting away the dirt and oil. biore self heating mask infoI don’t have blackheads any more but I did for most of my teens and early twenties. This would have been so welcome back then but it’s no less welcome as I age. I still get clogged pores that need to be dealt with. Yes I exfoliate often but our skin is dealing with the environment day in and out so we need to keep on top of things.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

There are 4 individual packets in the box ($6.99 at Ulta) and it’s recommended that you use this 2 – 3 times per week depending on your skin needs.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

This is so easy to use that it really does take just a minute. I prefer using it and then getting in the shower since it can be a bit messy to remove. If you prefer to do it standing at your sink, just have a washcloth ready to remove the mask.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

The mask never hardens so it’s not uncomfortable at all. I have no trouble applying it on my wet face but if you do just add a touch more water. While it’s on your face you need to massage it. You’ll feel just the slightest bit of warmth to let you know that the natural charcoal is working. Even though I’m a stickler about cleansing, I still find that sometimes my makeup hasn’t been 100% removed and the Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask helps with that problem.

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask

Wash it off after your minute and your face is fresh and clean. Using a washcloth assures that you remove all of the product. There is no fragrance, the heat is noticeable but minimal, and when you are done you’re ready for your skincare.

That’s it – 1 minute of effort plus some washing and your pores are cleansed.

Bioré sent along a few extra boxes for a giveaway on Beauty Info Zone. There will be 3 winners from the US or Canada. The giveaway is open through 6/4/16. If comments close early email me your comment at beautyinfozone@gmail.com so you can continue on in the Rafflecopter. Remember that you need to be an email subscriber to Beauty Info Zone and make a comment in order to be eligible. I always send a package of goodies so it makes it fun to win on Beauty Info Zone.  — Marcia
