We have a hint for you – try Hynt Beauty

hynt logo

We love it on Beauty Info Zone when we have found a new brand to use and share with you. Hynt Beauty isn’t new to the world of cosmetics but it’s new to us. Marcia first found the brand when she kept reading about their concealer and had to buy that. The concealer is wonderful but it’s very thick so she contacted the company with questions. Upon discovering that she was a blogger, Hynt sent along a few color cosmetics for us.

Hynt Beauty has very high standards and always has, but once the owner was diagnosed with breast cancer she realized that she had to question every product in her life and that included health and beauty products. Now that she’s a BCA Survivor she wants to make sure that the company she and her husband run is both cruelty free and carcinogen free. Products they’ve created are safe for very sensitive skin and are non-irritating. But they are also rich in pigment and luxurious.

“Hynt is FREE of Parabens, Nano Particles, Petrochemicals, Artificial Preservatives, Gluten, and all products are PETA-certified Vegan (except for the mascara, which is clearly identified) so there is no wondering or double checking, ever.”

HYNT Beauty Perfetto Pressed Eye Shadows

HYNT Beauty Perfetto Pressed Eye Shadows

I couldn’t help but call dibs on the Hynt Beauty Perfetto Pressed Eye Shadows since there is nothing like a beautiful eye to me. These come in 8 different shades ($22) and if all are as silky smooth as Crystal Taupe and Linen Kiss then I want them all.

Hynt Beauty Crystal Taupe and Linen Kiss

Hynt Beauty Crystal Taupe and Linen Kiss

The names of these two eyeshadows alone had me excited but wearing them makes me even more so. These are very silky and easy to apply. They are both a satin finish and wear perfectly with an eyeshadow primer. Almost everyone I know is into taupe eyeshadows so Crystal Taupe is probably right up your alley too. This is a brown taupe that doesn’t have any unusual undertones. On my eyes it’s slightly warmer than this picture. I love to wear it on my lid with Linen Kiss on the browbone. Then when I want to get a little more contrast I’ll add a true dark chocolate to the crease to make my eyes more dramatic. Linen Kiss is a perfect browbone or lower lid shade. I’ve not only paired it with Crystal Taupe but with many of my neutral shadows.

These have skin caring ingredients like KAOLIN : Purifies pores, vitalizes skin with essential nutrients and phytonutrients, and boosts skin’s cellular renewal and blood circulation and JOJOBA OIL : Smooths, moisturizes and prevents dryness at skin’s deeper layers. Breathable and non-greasy, the oil is also known to diminish excessive sebum protection. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It’s great to find a brand that can be so well trusted.

LISA AND HER LIP GLOSS

I am always up for a new lip gloss and Hynt LIBRE Luxurious Lip Gloss in Pearly Rose Pink ($18) was definitely calling my name.

Hynt LIBRE Luxurious Lip Gloss

Hynt LIBRE Luxurious Lip Gloss

The lip gloss is creamy yet lightweight with great slip. It has some great ingredients so the gloss hydrates and treats lips while also providing a sheer, natural tint. Check out all that goodness inside one tube:

  • ORGANIC CASTOR SEED OIL : Extremely gentle on the skin and its water-binding abilities keep moisture close to the skin’s surface.
  • ORGANIC COCONUT OIL : Rich in skin moisturizing fatty acids and skin rejuvenating proteins that promote the natural, healthy renewal process of the skin.
  • ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER : Derived from the seeds of the African Shea Tree, the deeply hydrating skin smoother conditions and increases viscosity of healthy, balanced skin.
  • ORGANIC GRAPEFRUIT SEED : Balances the pH of the skin and speeds up digestion of proteins that helps cleanse skin by removing old skin cell layers.
  • ORGANIC JOJOBA OIL : Smoothes, moisturizes and prevents dryness at skin’s deeper layers. Breathable and non-greasy, the oil is also known to diminish excessive sebum protection. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.

Pearly Rose Pink has a lot of peach in it. Along with the golden shimmer, it almost has a coppery tone. I don’t have anything like it so I am getting lots of mileage from this great fall color. And if you are specifically looking for vegan lip gloss, this one is for you! There are a number of shades available and they all give you a ‘Hynt’ of color plus lots of hydration and healthy lips.

All Natural, Vegan, Organics-based, PETA Approved, Gluten-free and Non-Comedogenic. Naturally Preserved. Free of Toxins, Petrochemicals, Parabens, Nano-particles, Bismuth Oxychloride, Talc, Silicones, Mineral Oil, GMO’s, FD&C dyes, Carmine and Phthalates.

The beautiful Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes are amazing

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

When you shop for eyeshadow do you often look and say “I’d love that but I don’t like these 2 colors so maybe I shouldn’t buy it” or “If only this palette had a bright purple then it would be perfect”? If you talk to yourself like Marcia and Lisa do then Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Bar Palette is the answer to the questions you’ve asked. Buxom has created a few pre-made palettes that are lovely but what we’re most excited about is that Custom Palette. We were sent two to share with you. These aren’t sold exactly like our pictures because they were created with us in mind.

This Sephora Exclusive is a total bargain too. Bought separately it would cost you $112 but when you purchase the palette and 6 single shadows of your choice it’s only $40. Add 6 of the shades you want on Sephora and you’ll automatically get the palette to put them in.

40 Buxom shadows to choose from

40 Buxom shadows to choose from

You get your choice out of 40 Eyeshadow Bar shades and you’ll have trouble deciding on only 6. These shadows have incredible pigmentation and use primer-infused technology to help keep the colors vibrant. They are silky smooth too. You can choose all matte or satin or metallic or a mix of all. Whatever your little heart desires!

If you don’t want to do the work then choose one of the the ones already put together that are in special packaging for the same $40 price. There’s Pastel Persuasion (Feather Boa (matte pastel pink), Famous Flirt (matte pastel peach), Mix & Mingle (matte vanilla), Room Service (iridescent mint), Lacy Chic (matte sky), Jetsetter (matte greige); Dolly’s Wild Side (Silk Sheets (chai luster), Champagne Buzz (shimmering pearl), Lingerie Lover (matte mauve), Mink Magnet (metallic bronze), Spoiled Sexy (matte deep mauve), Wild Nights (shimmering sugar plum); and May Contain Nudity ( Satin Seduction (bisque luster), Gimme Gorgeous (matte camel), Gold Status (metallic brass), Big Spender (matte sable), Haute Couture (metallic java), Style Icon (metallic taupe).

Enough about that… let’s get to the palettes we’ve got!!

two Buxom Custome Eyeshadow Bars

LISA’S PALETTE:

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

We were sent two palettes and lucky me Marcia let me choose. I surprised her by choosing the one with warmer shades. I fell in love with the golden 24K Stilettos and just to had to have it!

The texture of these eyeshadows is buttery goodness. They apply very smoothly and have tons of pigment. The packaging is pretty ingenious. The bar of eyeshadows is made from individual pans that can be popped in and out, so you can not only choose your shades but also rearrange them into any order.

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

My shades include:  DIAMOND DARLING (shimmering frost), STAR TREATMENT (matte hazelnut), 24K STILETTOS (metallic gold), FILTHY RICH (matte chestnut), DESIGNER OR DIE (matte beige), and INVITE ONLY (matte terracotta).

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes DIAMOND DARLING and STAR TREATMENT

Diamond Darling is very pretty and VERY pigmented. I thought maybe I could use it on my brow but definitely not – too shimmery. It is, however, amazing as a lid shade as well as patted over a matte shade with my finger.  Star Treatment is like the perfect crease shade in my world…buttery, matte medium brown.

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes 24K STILETTOS and FILTHY RICH

Oh, can you even believe how gorgeous 24K Stilettos is??? Just a to die for golden metallic with hints of blue and green. Amazing on brown eyes! Filthy Rich is a tad red for my tastes, but wow for a matte shade this has the nicest texture and it blends like a dream.

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes

Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Palettes DESIGNER OR DIE and INVITE ONLY

Designer or Die and Invite Only are both terrific base shades. Invite Only is another favorite of mine in this palette – I use it as a wash with a touch of Designer or Die on my brow, along with some thick black eyeliner for a quick day look.

Overall this palette is a HUGE winner – I love the packaging, the ease of mixing and matching the shades, the texture and pigmentation of the eyeshadows…YAY!!!!!

 MARCIA’S PALETTE:

Out of the two palettes sent to us I ended up with the most colorful one and I’m loving the variety in it.

Buxom Custom Palette

Buxom Custom Palette

The shades I have, in the order shown, are  PATENT LEATHER (sparkling blackberry), FAUX (iridescent snakeskin), PURE PLATINUM (silver metallic), COOL CAVIAR (shimmering gunmetal), BOLD BLING (metallic rose gold) and GOLD STATUS (metallic brass).

Buxom swatches: Patent Leather, Faux, Pure Platinum, Cool Caviar, Bold Bling, Gold Status

Buxom swatches: Patent Leather, Faux, Pure Platinum, Cool Caviar, Bold Bling, Gold Status

These shadows are incredibly pigmented and they wear all day long on me – seriously, from morning to late at night. I’ve yet to have to touch them up if I’m going out at night. Beside the wonderful shades I find that there’s basically no fall out.

With Patent Leather and Faux I pat them on, I don’t smooth them on. Especially with Faux and its iridescent brown, purple, green shade I’m careful since I don’t want to change the way this can change. I could see that some people would compare this shade to MAC Club but it’s so much prettier. This actually is a true duochrome that looks different depending on the angle of your face and the amount of light. It’s a magnificient shade. Patent Leather just doesn’t show in these pictures but it’s a beautiful purple shade once on. I’ve gotten away from purples lately but this is one I will keep wearing.

Pure Platinum is a silver that can be icy blue too. On my eyes it takes on a blue tint and when I pair it with the incredibly pigmented Cool Caviar I get a sultry eye that is party ready.

Bold Bling is described as a metallic rose gold but it’s not highly metallic and it’s got more rose than gold. I’ve worn it with other shades in the brown family and loved how it plays off a dark brown like Buxom’s Haute Couture (metallic java). I expected Gold Status to be a little too strong for me since it’s a warm brass shade but it’s not glittery so it’s totally wearable.

eye looks with Pure Platinum & Cool Caviar, Bold Bling & Gold Status

eye looks with Pure Platinum & Cool Caviar, Bold Bling & Gold Status

I loved this palette so much that I instantly created another and bought it from Sephora. I promise I’ll share it since I even did swatch pictures. I love the fact that you can make what you want and interchange them too. The shadows snap in and out with ease so I plan on switching out some of the shades in my personally made palette and adding Bold Bling & Gold Status to it for a while. Just think of all the fun I can have!

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey eyeshadows are making us swoon

ARDENCY INN Modster Maruka Honey Enriched Pigments

ARDENCY INN Modster Maruka Honey Enriched Pigments

Ardency Inn is a newer makeup brand and one that’s captured the hearts and eyes of the bloggers of Beauty Info Zone. When Urban Outfitters sent us some eyeshadows to test we just about plotzed. These are true beauties ladies and are covetable. Ardency Inn has its roots in the downtown New York music scene but it’s reached out to us in the hinterlands and grabbed us. It’s an extremely creative line that resonates with people in the arts and with us too.

The eyeshadows are called MODSTER MANUKA HONEY ENRICHED PIGMENTS but they aren’t loose pigments. What they are is a group of 10 highly pigmented eyeshadows ($21 each) that will knock your socks off.

“Innovative makeup from Ardency Inn’s Modster line featuring Manuka honey, a mono-floral honey produced in New Zealand and Australia. This all-natural ingredient makes Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Pigment seriously super creamy with superior color pigmentation. This luxe, creamy color glides on effortlessly and stays put all day.”

MARCIA’S EYESHADOWS:

Ardency Inn Heaven and Rose Gold

Ardency Inn Heaven and Rose Gold

I am 100% in love with the two eyeshadows I have from Ardency Inn. I wear them constantly and each time I do I want more. I have Heaven and Rose Gold and already ordered 3 more.

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey pigment in Heaven

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey pigment in Heaven

HEAVEN is well named because I find it heavenly in all ways. Heaven is a metallic champagne with both silver and bronze undertones. I wear this with different shades of brown and beige or with a khaki eyeshadow. It’s a metallic finish that absolutely shines. There is no glitter, no sparkle, it’s just this great metallic shade of gold. These eyeshadows have basically no fall out. I may get a little under my eyes when I’m applying them but it wipes away and stays away. I don’t have any color that’s wandered throughout the day. As much as I love this with a very dark brown (that’s why I ordered it in Hell), it’s amazing with a khaki or a green that’s on the warm side.

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka shadows in Heaven and Rose Gold

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka shadows in Heaven and Rose Gold

ROSE GOLD is exactly what the name describes. If you crave a rosy gold shade then this is one stop shopping. It’s a metallic rose that reflects a warm gold.

Ardency Inn Rose Gold

Ardency Inn Rose Gold

The combinations are endless with this shade. I like to use a matte cream shade on my browbone, wear Rose Gold on the lid, and anything from a charcoal to a dark brown to even a purple on the outer crease. It’s one of those shades that makes you want to be creative.

I’m in love and I bet Lisa is too!

LISA’S EYESHADOWS:

I do, I do! I love these eyeshadows just as much as Marcia does. The pigmentation is out of this world and the colors stay true and bright all day even without an eyeshadow primer. My two shades, Royal and Sunday, are about as far apart on the color spectrum as you can get.

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigment in Royal

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigment in Royal

ROYAL is a deep purple that I would indeed describe as ‘royal’. It has red undertones and slight blue reflects. I love this as an eyeliner, both dry and wet. After I used this eyeshadow a bunch of times I noticed that on the website it warns not to use Royal near the eyes. I don’t know why, and it certainly hasn’t caused me any eye problems. I don’t see the warning on the Sephora website, so I am not sure what the story is…but I can say that I use it on my eyes with no issues, and it is a gorgeous, gorgeous color.

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigment in Sunday

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigment in Sunday

SUNDAY is a beige pearl with gold and pink undertones. On me, this is a soft gold with a metallic finish. It is just to die for as a lid shade and is perfect for those with deep set eyes. Sunday is a glorious shade indeed, one that is neutral yet glamorous at the same time.

Ardency Inn Royal and Sunday swatched

Ardency Inn Royal and Sunday swatched

I am beyond impressed with my Ardency Inn Modster Eyeshadows and am dying to try more. At the top of my wish list are Tangerine, Disco, and Hell – together they sound like quite a party!!

See the beauty of Araza Natural Beauty eyeshadows

araza logo

Araza Natural Beauty was founded by Lindsey who has a story to tell us: “As I began doing more research on the chemicals, fillers, and artificial junk that our processed foods contain, it also occurred to me that what we put ON our bodies is just as important as what we put IN our bodies. Our skin is the largest organ of the human body and it absorbs 70% of everything that we put on it! That being said, why would we take the time to eat healthy but then not put healthy products on our skin? Being a bit of a makeup junky myself I realized the products I loved and used were incredibly harmful and toxin filled. Heck, cosmetics are not even regulated by the FDA like food is. It is our responsibility to read labels and understand what we are using.”

Well the ladies at Beauty Info Zone wanted to know more about Araza Natural Beauty and we are lucky enough to have received 4 eyeshadows to wear and share. Since Lindsey wanted a healthy, high quality makeup line, made from the best natural and certified organic ingredients, we were excited to join her on her mission. She’s one smart lady who has created some beautiful eyeshadows (and more we’re sure).

The eyeshadows are called Long-Wear Raspberry and Citrus Infused Eye Color. You have 15 beautiful choices ($18 each) with excellent descriptions and photos of the colors so you won’t be surprised when they arrive – well you will but it will be because you are so delighted.

“Blendable and buildable eye color, Araza’s Long Wear Raspberry and Citrus Infused Eye Color glides on lids smooth and effortless, creating stunning color that enhances natural beauty and lasts until the day is done. Orange Peel is nutrient packed with vitamins and minerals, Raspberry fights free radicals, tones skin and soothes irritation. Certified Organic Jojoba locks in moisture and aids in reducing puffiness around the delicate eye area, keeping lids healthy and diminishing the look of aging.”

MARCIA’S EYESHADOWS:

ARAZA Mirage and Rose Gold Eyeshadows

ARAZA Mirage and Rose Gold Eyeshadows

My two shadows are MIRAGE and ROSE GOLD.  These are the best choices! They go on so beautifully that they are a pleasure to apply.

Araza Mirage eyeshadow

Araza Mirage eyeshadow

MIRAGE is described as “rosy brown matte demi-matte”. I would never have guessed this was considered a matte shadow when I opened it or when I wore it. It has a satiny finish and isn’t flat in the least.

On the website it appears lighter than in my photos but I don’t find it to be that light. It’s a mid-tone brown with no shimmer even though you can see a bit in my pic. The finish is soft yet there’s no powdery kick back to this at all.

Azara Mirage

Azara Mirage

ROSE GOLD EYESHADOW is simply stunning even on old eyes like mine. It’s described as “shimmery rose with hints of gold brown”. Is it shimmery? Not really, it’s more on the surface but now that I’ve used it for so long I only find that it’s a metallic rose gold. If you love rose golds you are going to want to snatch this up. This pairs up beautifully with a darker brown shadow in the crease or a smudged thicker brown eyeliner.

I’m so impressed by the amount of pigmentation and the soft feel of these shadows. They wear beautifully (I always use an e/s primer first). They are definite winners in my book.

LISA’S EYESHADOWS:

Sorry Marcia…I think ABALONE and JAVA are the best choices!!

Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

Araza Abalone and Java Eyeshadow

Abalone is a shimmery, subtle pearlized pink. I simply can’t explain how pretty this is. It has a hint of peach to it and it brightens up the eyes like crazy. I think this is an especially great choice for those with deep-set or hooded eyes. Just be careful not to pack too much on or it becomes a little frosty.

Araza Abalone Eyeshadow

Araza Abalone Eyeshadow

Java is a subtle sparkle warm chocolate-brown demi-matte. The sparkle is very light, but it makes this deep brown a standout shade.

Araza Java Eyeshadow

Araza Java Eyeshadow

I blend this in lightly as a crease shade and it also makes a fabulous contour shade as well as a liner. Together, Abalone and Java make a beautiful pair that I find myself reaching for all the time.

With an eye primer these colors stay true all day and don’t crease on me.  They are definitely winners!!

Le Metier de Beaute has the best gwp ever! Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute LE Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute LE Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope

From June 5th to the 15th Neiman Marcus is again having Camp Gorgeous. Most brands will be doing GWP but only Le Metier de Beaute will have an amazing LE Eye Kaleidoscope with all new colors. You can only receive this by purchasing $250 in LMdB products at a store or by calling a Le Metier makeup artist. My personal artists are Kim and Venus at the NM counter in Troy, Michigan at 248-643-3300 extension 2104. They provided this press sample so I could share this with our readers.

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope (LE)

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope (LE)

I’ve reviewed a lot of Le Metier de Beaute since I first discovered the line on a vacation. When it came to my Neiman Marcus store I was the first in line to buy products. I’m still there buying and am excited to hear that they will soon be coming out with new single eyeshadows.

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute Dark Orchid eye kaleidoscope

Let me tell you about Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope. Le Metier developed their first ever eyeshadow primer and it’s on the bottom of this LE Kaleidoscope. It is a weightless creamy primer that will make all of your shadows last and last. It has a slight pearlized look to it. I’m particularly thrilled about this since I feel this was a big lack in the LMdB line.

LMdB Dark Orchid primer

LMdB Dark Orchid primer

LMdB Dark Orchid primer

Just above the primer is Mocha Sheen which LMdB compares to Corinthian (my favorite shade) but lighter and more vivid. It’s a taupe that is light reflecting. The color is absolutely gorgeous and will more than likely be my all time favorite Le Metier taupe eyeshadow.

LMdB Dark Orchid 2nd shade Mocha Sheen

Rich Orchid is compared to Fig/Alexandrite but is actually more magenta than either of those. I’ve learned not to be afraid of these brighter shades by Le Metier since their products are meant to be layered using their Couches de Couleur application technique. My swatch was done very heavily but the color doesn’t translate this dark once on eyes. And it’s perfect for layering with Mocha Sheen (and other LMdB shadows).

My Le Metier de Beaute limited edition Dark Orchid Kaleidoscope arrived at 8 p.m. so I ran outside and did pictures ASAP and I realize now I swatched very heavily. These will be lighter and brighter in real life. The colors are fabulous and I can’t wait to get the opportunity to wear this.

With your purchase you’ll also receive the Camp Gorgeous bag of treats:camp gorgeousA Kaleidoscope is always $95 so this GWP is the best that they’ve ever done and the best I’ve seen in many many moons. I’m totally impressed with the quality and amazing colors in this. Now remember you can’t just buy this. You need to go to Neiman Marcus or call (Kim or Venus at 248-643-3300 extension 2104. Makeup Geek browns: Beaches and Cream, Hipster, Mocha, Pretentious

Have you tried Makeup Geek Eyeshadows yet?  If not, I really don’t know what you are waiting for.  Marlena, the stunningly gorgeous force behind Makeup Geek, sent us some eyeshadows and some brushes to test.  Spoiler alert:  these products are fantastic and inexpensive.

Today’s post is all about four beautiful brown eyeshadows and three eyeshadow brushes from her collection.

Makeup Geek eyeshadows

Make Up Geek eyeshadows

Marlena’s cosmetics line is just as fabulous as her amazing tutorials.  Makeup Geek eyeshadows are affordable (pans are $5.99, also available in a compact for $7.99), and there are 68 gorgeous colors from which to choose.  The pans are the exact same size as MAC eyeshadows but definitely less expensive.  Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans fit into MAC palettes, although I use my Z Palettes (which you can also buy at Makeup Geek’s store).

The texture of these eyeshadows is silky smooth and creamy.  The pigmentation is perfection, and they blend like a dream.  Plus the color doesn’t fade or crease throughout the day, even with oily eyelids.  I adore these eyeshadows.  Great price, great texture, great application, great color selection — it doesn’t get any better than this.

Beaches and Cream

Beaches and Cream

Beaches and Cream swatch

Beaches and Cream swatch

Beaches and Cream is a slightly peachy soft beige.  It’s a buttery soft matte shade that is an essential neutral for your collection.  It works as an all over wash for a pretty neutral look.  I reach for it all the time to blend and soften other shades, or as a lid shade paired with a deep brown crease color.

Hipster

Hipster

Hipster swatch

Hipster is a slightly shimmery sandy tan shade.  The shimmer makes it a fantastic lid shade, and it’s particularly powerful for deep-set or hooded eyes.

Mocha

Mocha

Mocha is a deep matte brown shade with a slight red undertone.  It is a great shade – I love using this to contour eyes and as a liner.

Pretentious

Pretentious is a stunning metallic bronze shade.  This golden brown is so gorgeous…it is perfect as a lid or crease shade.

With all these beautiful eyeshadows, a girl needs some great eyeshadow brushes too, right?  I am truly impressed with Marlena’s extremely affordable high quality brushes.  All of them have synthetic bristles and are cruelty-free.  They also feature a bronze gunmetal ferrule that holds the bristles in place and keeps the brush from shedding.

Makeup Geek Soft Dome Brush

Makeup Geek Soft Dome Brush

Soft Dome Brush

Soft Dome Brush

The Soft Dome Brush ($7.99) is what you want for blending harsh lines or applying a small amount of color.    The bristles are very soft so they don’t pick up much shadow, but they are firm enough to soften and blend.  It buffs out crease shades beautifully.   The handle is 6.5″ long, making it perfect for doing eye work.

Makeup Geek Outer V Brush

Makeup Geek Outer V Brush

Outer V Brush

Outer V Brush

The Outer V Brush ($7.99) is meant for applying eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye, but that’s certainly not the only thing I use it for.  The small dome brush has soft, dense bristles that pick up color beautifully.  The brush length is 6.25″, a great size for close up work.  I use it for the brow, crease, outer v, lid…it is definitely a work horse brush.

Makeup Geek Pencil Brush

Makeup Geek Pencil Brush

The Pencil Brush ($7.99) is currently out of stock and scheduled to return in Mid-July 2014.  When it does, you will want to get one for  yourself.  This is one of the best pencil brushes I have ever tried.  The bristles are stiff enough for precise lines, but also soft enough for blending out liner and eyeshadow.  Also, at 6.25″ it really is the perfect length.

Here is my EOD using my three eyeshadow brushes and with Makeup Geek Hipster as my lid shade, Pretentious in the crease, Mocha in the outer v, and Beaches and Cream on the brow.  I lined with Mocha and with Mystic Gel Eyeliner (reviewed HERE).

Do yourself and your cosmetics collection a favor and check out the selection at Makeup Geek.  I know you will find tons of must-have items!  – Lisa

A way to MAKE your cosmetics more memorable

October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness month and you’ll find posts on Beauty Info Zone and most other blogs about this wonderful cause. There are many products that give a portion of their sales BCA charities. We admire those companies and support them but we have a company that we admire all year long that we’d like to share with you. That company is MAKE, the beauty brand that was created by We See Beauty. The We See Beauty Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to incubate and accelerate women-led, worker-owned cooperatives to drive large scale change. A million dollar endowment has been made to the Foundation to promote social and economic change through cooperative development: establishing more businesses that are owned by their workers. Our first project is establishing a cooperative in Brooklyn called Do Good Be Beautiful that will create and sell its own healthy cleaning and personal care products. MAKE gives 33% of sales, not just profits, to this Foundation. This is what true charity is about.

At Beauty Info Zone we’ve been lucky enough to have been sent a few products to test out. Lisa has reviewed 2 blushes that she’s crazy about. She’s a tough nut to crack when it comes to blush since colors seem to disappear on her. MAKE doesn’t do that so she’s been excited about the brand.

The MAKE Aether Collection

The MAKE Aether Collection

My first review is for the eyeshadows that I have so far. Most of the ones I have happen to be from a collection called the Aether Collection. The Aether Collection is a collaboration between interior and furniture designer Faye Toogood and make-up artist Ayami Nishimura.

GILDED is a “soft gold”. It’s not a shade I can wear all over but I love it on my lid or as an accent color with darker shades.  There is no glitter to this, it’s a satiny easy-to-wear gold.

I have a mini of Cement (from a subscription box) and that’s a medium neutral gray with a blue undertone.

In addition I’ve got Salt Flat, a bright matte white, and a Glitter Shadow in Quartz which is a very glittery white. In total there are 2 Glitter Shadows (Quartz and Alabaster), 24 Matte Shadows, and 22 Satin Shadows sold by MAKE at this time.

I’m not normally a matte eyeshadow fan. I don’t find them to be the smoothest formula yet I’m impressed with the MAKE ones I’ve got. I use Salt Flat often on my browbone exactly because it is matte. It doesn’t call people from miles away to notice my browbone. I’ve used Cement on my lid several times with shades of gray or blue in the crease. These apply very smoothly and last. While I admire the glittery Quartz, it’s not really my style. It’s for someone younger who parties. This will be great on New Year’s Eve but it’s not my style for my typical Saturday night dinners out. I’m excited to try their Satin shadows though and I plan on ordering Granite (medium brown with a burnished undertone) and Vintage Ivory (soft peach vanilla).

I couldn’t get swatches of the two whites since they don’t show up on my fair skin but the pans are good representations.

Eyeshadows are $25 each but the AETHER palette is just $40 and contains the eyeshadows shown plus a fabulous lip color I’ll be reviewing later called Deep Flesh.
