Call me excited about Merle Norman’s new Shadow Sticks. Regular followers of Beauty Info Zone should know by now that shadow sticks aka shadow crayons get me so happy. I love a good cream shadow and what easier way to use them then in stick form? When I was offered 3 Shadow Sticks to try out I was totally thrilled. The reality of these are even better than the anticipation of trying them out.
For fall/winter 2016 Merle Norman created 10 different shades of these long lasting eyeshadows in two formulas: luminous. and matte. The 5 luminous shades shown above are Bronze Age, Fortune, Glow, Luna, and Mystic while the matte shades are Almond Cookie, Preppy, Stone, Toast, and Watercolor. Luckily I have both Fortune and Bronze Age as well as Toast.
In addition to knowing about the beautiful shades available is the fact that these are crease resistant. I still use an eyeshadow primer and make sure it dries down well. Once they are set they are really set. They last me the entire day without any movement. It’s a pleasure to apply eye makeup in the morning and never have to retouch it to go out at night. I get home and look the same as I did when I left.
They are so versatile too. They make a great shadow base especially with the lighter shades. They are buildable so you are able to apply them sheerly yet build them up to color galore. With the two luminous shades, Fortune & Bronze Age, I wear them with full on color. I love the sheen of these and the brightness of the colors. With Toast, a matte shade, I’ll start with a light coat from my lashline to just above the crease. It becomes my base shade and I can use other shadows on top of it. Toast also makes a great transition shade.
The luminous shades have some shimmer to them but it’s the type of shimmer that stays on your eyes and doesn’t wander. Fortune is a beautiful gold shimmer and Bronze Age is a stunning bronze. They are shimmery like I said but there is no fall out. When I remove them with an eye makeup remover I’ll notice some shimmer left on my eye but that doesn’t stick around. Merle Norman infuses these with a key ingredient, microspheres, which impart a silky texture and keep your lids oil free.
These Shadow Sticks are available at a Merle Norman Studio. I put in my zip code and found two studios very close to me and another half dozen in reasonable driving distance.
These are worth taking a drive or calling a Merle Norman Studio to get your hands (actually eyes) on them. The colors I have are amazing as is the application. — Marcia
