Eyeshadows anyone? Korres lights the way with eyeshadows in crayon and powder

KORRES eyeshadow collections

KORRES eyeshadow collections

What do I want to see in my stocking or under the tree? Eyeshadow! I will never have enough and I don’t think you will either. Korres sent two of their favorite gift sets my way knowing how much I love their eyeshadow. These are wonderful for you or for a gift.

KORRES Greek Eye-Land Hopping Eyeshadow Collection

KORRES Greek Eye-Land Hopping Eyeshadow Collection

Most woman are more secure using powder eyeshadow so I’m starting with the KORRES GREEK EYE-LAND HOPPING 6 shadow eyeshadow collection. This holiday packaged collection has 6 musts for your own collection. These powders are absolutely the smoothest. They are dermatologically tested, free of parabens, mineral oil, propylene glycol, and ethanolamine aka chemicals. But they do have Sunflower and Evening Primrose oils in their formula to moisturize and nourish the skin on your eyelids.korres-shadows

The 6 lovely shades are Ivory (light neutral), Pink, Bronze Brown (rich and sultry!), White (a sheer neutral), Metallic Grey, and Midnight Blue (rich blue). I’ve had no fallout with these shadows since they glide on beautifully.

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in white, midnight blue, and metallic grey

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in white, midnight blue, and metallic grey

I don’t wear a lot of blue eyeshadow but this Midnight Blue is an exception. It’s a striking shade that doesn’t take me back to my teens. Metallic Grey is a taupe grey so it fits right in my life.

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Ivory and Pink

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Ivory and Pink

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Pink, and Ivory

Korres Greek Eye-Land Hopping in Bronze Brown, Pink, and Ivory

I am totally crazy about Bronze Brown; most of the time you’d see that name and expect a dark shadow but it’s light and lights up my eyes. I love it with Ivory on my browbone and this on my lid. Even though the middle shade is named Pink it’s a very warm pink and not what you expect pink to look like. It looks more like a rose gold actually so I’ll just rename it in my head.

KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic TWIST Shadow Collection

KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic TWIST Shadow Collection

What I love even more than the 6 powder eyeshadows is the KORRES Greek Nights Volcanic Twist Eyeshadow Collection. This is a collection of 6 mineral eyeshadow crayons that can do no wrong in my book. These are so creamy and easy to apply and they are very long lasting. Once they set, they’ll never play havoc on your eyes. Use these as bases, a quick eyeshadow look, eyeliners, smokey eyes – whatever makes you happy. This $35.95 set means these are $6 each.

KORRES Greek Nights Twists

KORRES Greek Nights Twists

HSN describes them this way:

  • #11 Ivory (light beige, neutral for lid or highlight under brow)
  • #29 Golden Bronze (rich metallic bronze for added drama)
  • #33 Grey Brown (hybrid of rich brown and smoky gray for smoky, dramatic eye)
  • #46 Olive Green (deep, rich green)
  • #68 Golden Pink (smoky, sexy light pink)
  • #98 Metallic Black (rich, deep, vibrant jet black)
Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Korres Greek Nights in Olive Green, Golden Pink, Ivory

Ivory is a great base shade and looks good in the corner of your eye to add some brightness. Golden Pink is a beautiful rose gold that I’m crazy about. Olive Green is a very dark olive and not one that I realized was olive actually. To bring out the green use a light touch. None of these have a drop of shimmer to them though Golden Pink does have a metallic look.

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

KORRES Greek Nights in Golden Bronze, Grey Brown, Metallic Black

There’s nothing quite like Golden Bronze to me. I love this both as a base and as a lid shade. It adds brightness under my eyes as a liner. It’s everything I love in an eyeshadow crayon. The shade called Grey Brown is a metallic that looks a lot like a charcoal. Beautiful for smokey eyes and softer than Metallic Black. What makes Metallic Black stand out is the twinkle of shimmer that it has. It also makes an interesting base for certain pastel shades.

Korres always meant bath and body to me but they’ve changed that to bring my all time favorite product. I think one or both of these sets could be all time favorites for you. Both are available at HSN.com and Korres.com. You’ll want to hurry to make sure these are yours. If you are a first time buyer on Korres site you can get a code for 15% off making it even better.

Be a Stone Cold Babe with Buxom on your eyes

Buxom Cosmetics delightfully created three gift sets for us this holiday season. I’ve already shared the 6 Degrees Below Sexy and Buxom Freezes Over holiday lip sets and now it’s time for my very favorite: Buxom Stone Cold Babe eyeshadow kit. Anyone that knows me knows I’m crazzzy about eyeshadows. If I can only splurge on one item that’s what it’s going to be. Yes I am obsessed with mascara, foundation, and concealer too but nothing gets me going like eyeshadows and Buxom Stone Cold Babe makes my heart sing. I was upset because I didn’t share this with you early but I’m actually glad now because this fantastic gift set is on sale at both Sephora and Ulta for $29 instead of the original $42. I’m telling you that you need this – you really do!

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

The minute this was sent for review purposes was the minute I fell in love. One dozen eyeshadows in shades I love. Finishes of matte, shimmer, sparkle, and metallic all add up to a bit of perfection. Not only do the shadows wear beautifully but they work together in a myriad of ways that makes me want to use them in different combinations daily. These are neutral shades that may not suit everyone but they are the types of colors I’m most comfortable wearing.

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

With this set you receive the empty palette, the slide in shadows, and a Buxom Lash Mascara mini (2 oz) which is everything you’ll need for a night on the town.

Eyeshadow Shades:

  • Diamond Darling (shimmering frost)
  • Champagne Buzz (shimmering pearl)
  • Trendsetter (matte putty)
  • Sequin Sparkle (sparking pewter)
  • Frosted Pewter (sparkling iron)
  • LBD (matte black)
  • Velvet Show (sparkling white)
  • Mink Magnet (metallic bronze)
  • Haute Couture (metallic java)
  • Jetsetter (matte griege)
  • Graphic Glam (sparkling charcoal)
  • Black Tie (sparkling onxy)

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

While I swatched these over an eyeshadow primer Buxom’s eyeshadows stand out because they are primer-infused shadows that are incredibly pigmented. I love the smoothness of these and I’m crazay about the longevity of the shadows.

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

Buxom Stone Cold Babe

There are 4 shades that are new and exclusive to this set – Velvet Snow (1st left on the bottom), Frosted Petal (top row 5th shadow), Graphic Glam (bottom row 5th shadow), and Black Tie (bottom row right corner). These are wonderful additions to the previously released 8 shadows. It’s perfect to have these all together in one Fire & Frost palette.

To make this palette even better is the inclusion of the bestselling Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black. While this is a mini, it will last me close to three months. This is a volumizing mascara that doesn’t flake on me. Even better is that this palette is customizable and refillable. Just open the drawer from the right-side and pop in and out Buxom Eyeshadow Bar Single refills.

If you are searching for the perfect eyeshadow palette for yourself or a friend, you can’t beat Stone Cold Babe with its 12 gorgeous shadows and mini mascara. The price is one that should make you snatch it up instantly. I promise you’ll look like a hot babe!  —  Marcia

Pick just 5 products from Pixi Beauty? Ooh that’s hard.

It’s Marcia’s turn to be Queen for the Day with the Beauty Spotlight Team. We’ve each chosen a brand that we love to showcase for our readers. You’ve read Never Say Die Beauty’s Too Faced picks along with Justina’s Clinique favorites. Now that it’s my turn I’m picking Pixi Beauty because I wear something from Pixi every single day.pixi-favorites-all

Pixi Beauty is in a class of its own. It’s an independent beauty company that has reasonable mass market prices with department store quality. You can buy most of their line by going to your closest Target or by ordering online through Target.com or on Pixi’s website where you’ll find even more products from them.                                                                       press samples, personal products

Choosing just 5 was a chore since I easily could have chosen a dozen but I narrowed it down as I’m a rule follower. All of my choices are so reasonably priced that your wallet will barely weigh less after picking these up.

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi Beauty Summer Glow palette

Pixi by Petra has many great palettes so why did I choose the Summer Glow palette (Palette Bronzette) when summer is coming to an end? Two reasons – 1) it’s a great quality palette with eye shades and face shades and 2) it’s being discontinued so I wanted you to get in on the fact that this $28 palette is now only $14 while it lasts. With 12 shadows and liners and 3 facial products this works all year round. “Gilded bronzes, taupes & peaches for eyes + matte bronze, golden beige highlight & pink sheen for complexion.” I have gotten more use out of this Bronzette Palette than any of my Pixi Palettes. Perfect for travel and at $14 you don’t want to miss out.

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

Pixi Beauty Brow Powder Palette

This brow palette is my most used item from Pixi and I’ll soon be buying a backup. I’ve tried so many brow products and liked most but I love the Pixi Brow Powder palette. As you can see from this recent picture there are two shades that get tons of love while the others get used once in a while but those two shades are perfection for me. It’s hard for me to believe that this 6 color palette is only $12. My hair color changes every 3-4 weeks so it’s easy for me to vary the color of these powders. They are thick enough to stick around, they aren’t powdery meaning no fallout, and this removes easily with water which means less hair to lose. If I had to pick just one item of the 5 this Pixi Brow Powder Palette would be my keeper.

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms: top Baby Petal, Sheer Sculpt, Soft Strawberry; bottom Watermelon Veil, Wild Rose

Pixi Multibalms are my newest love from Pixi Beauty. (Be sure you enter my giveaway to win them!) I’m a huge fan of cream products and almost always pick a cream blush over a powder blush. I’ve been wearing one every day since I received these. There’s one for every color wardrobe and one for every mood. If you twist my arm to ask my favorites I’d pick Watermelon Veil and Wild Rose. At $12 each you can have several for the price of one from a different brand. The Multibalms are great for an easy on the go lip color too so you’ll look coordinated. These are infused with aloe vera, shea butter and rose hip oil adding to my love for these.

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish

Picking out just one lip product from the many wonderful ones that Pixi Beauty has was the hardest task of all. I love the shea butter lip balms, tinted brilliance balm crayons and Mattelustre lipsticks. But the product that gets used daily is the Nourishing Lip Polish. Another $12 product that is a 2-in-1 lip exfoliator and nourisher. Not only does it protect my dry lips but it has a circulation factor with the unique applicator. You massage the sweet nutrient rich formula onto your lips with the applicator. You’ll want one in every bathroom, your purse, and nightstand.

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Pixi by Petra Nail Colours

Nobody ever talks about Pixi’s Nail Colours and I don’t know why. They are terrific. They are 3 free and chip resistant. There are 42 shades for only $8 each. These slim bottles last for many manicures yet take up a small amount of space in my collection. Shown above are Gilded Garnet, Amethyst Amore, Fuchsia Dew and Sweet Strawberry. I’ve found some on sale at my local Target so I’m always checking for them. Like all products from Pixi they are cruelty-free. A Pixi polish is always a fun addition to my life.

While these are my favorites they are just at the top of a long list of products I recommend from Pixi Beauty. What about you? Any favorites from Pixi? Any you know you need to add ASAP?  —  Marcia

Marcia loves eyeshadow – STOWAWAY ESSENTIAL EYE PALETTE

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette

No surprise to any Beauty Info Zone readers but when we received a box (tiny box) from Stowaway I wanted the eyeshadow palette instantly. Lisa allowed me to have my wish since she ended up with a very nice collection of products that you’ll soon see.

The eyeshadow palette is the size of a credit card. A long time ago Trish McEvoy used to sell palettes this size for double the price of the Stowaway Essential Eye Palette. At $25 this might seem high because of the size but when you see how useful this is, you won’t think twice about the cost.

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette

Inside the palette are 4 shimmer shadows on the top row and 4 matte shadows on the bottom. At first I was a bit dismayed when 0pening since the shimmers looked like glitters. My dismay turned to pleasure once I applied these and saw that they not only glided on with ease but they were shimmery without being glittery.

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette

S1 is a light creamy linen shade. I had trouble showing it on my arm which is fine with me since I like the subtlety of it. S2 is a very pretty rose gold that I love on my lid. S3 is more of a golden brown which can be intensified or worn as is. This is a great crease shade for me. S4 is the darkest of the shimmers and harder to categorize color wise. The swatch looks brown but there’s a lot of purple in this shade.

Stowaway Essential Eye Palette all swatches

The bottom row are the mattes but they apply and look more like satins except for the black shade. They all have a silkiness to them that make them easy to wear and easy to work with. M1 is a milk chocolate with a touch of cream added to it. M2 is a darker milk chocolate so they left out the cream! M3 is the darkest of the browns. On my eyes it looks warm as I see some burnished undertones. M4 is a matte black. The pigment is great and works well as an eyeliner but the texture is harder than the other shadows.

Wearing S1, S2, and S4

In spite of the blazing heat we’ve been having, these last very well and don’t need touch up. But rest assured, when we need touch up we can easily find it in this pint size palette.

Lisa loves the Pretty in Pink Set STOWAWAY CREAM LIPSTICK, EFFORTLESS EYELINERMASCARA, CHEEK & LIP ROUGE

Spain

I recently had a wonderful reason to fully appreciate the size and quality of Stowaway Cosmetics products, because I took a trip to Spain with my mom. There we are, inside the Palacio Real de Madrid. Getting to Spain was interesting as I had never traveled to Europe before and I was determined to bring only one bag that I didn’t have to check. Have you tried packing for a nine-day trip with just one carry on bag?? It was a challenge but oh so freeing once I achieved it! Stowaway Cosmetics constituted my only lipstick, blush, eyeliner and mascara (ok I lied…I also brought one other eyeliner!). But the size of these gems is incredible and the quality is definitely impressive.

SpainI walked, on average, 10 miles each day through the streets of Madrid, Segovia, and Toledo in stultifying heat, and Stowaway never let me down! The Cream Lipstick ($15) has wonderful pigmentation and is hydrating, so even those 100 degree days didn’t dry out my lips. The size is small but the lipstick is mighty and I love the pinky/peach Peony shade.Stowaway Cosmetics Cream Lipstick in Peony

I love a multi-tasker, so the creamy Cheek and Lip Rouge ($15) is a favorite. Again, small but mighty – the pot is about 1/3 the size of a typical blush. My shade is the pretty pinky/peach Peony, and it looks lovely on cheeks and as a lip stain.Stowaway Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Rouge and Mascara

I tested two products for eyes – the Extreme Lash Mascara ($12) and the Effortless Eyeliner ($10). The mascara is terrific! It has thickening fibers so it makes lashes lush and long, and the brush has a thick and a thin side, making application easy. The mascara lasts all day without smudging or smearing.

Stowaway Cosmetics Effortless EyelinerStowaway Cosmetics Effortless EyelinerStowaway Cosmetics Effortless Eyeliner

You will be shocked at the size of the Effortless Eyeliner ($10) – it’s literally the size of a q-tip! No need to sharpen this gel-textured pencil and it glides on beautifully. The Spice shade is a gorgeous shimmery copper that doesn’t smudge once it sets, which takes less than a minute.
Spain
I can’t imagine taking another trip without my Stowaway Cosmetics. No matter how tiny your bags are, you never have to be without great color products so you can rock any country you choose to explore!!

bareMinerals The Instant Attraction Palette and Chase Your Dreams Marvelous Moxie Lipstick

Bare Minerals

I am really into neutral warm shades for eyes and lips this season and bareMinerals The Instant Attraction Palette ($30) and the Marvelous Moxie Chase Your Dreams Lipstick ($18) from the Lovescape Spring 2016 Collection are exactly the colors I want.                              pr samples

Bare Minerals

Both come in pretty gold packaging. The lipstick is in a special edition gold tube with a push-button release, which means this lipstick will not lose its top in your purse, thank goodness. The eyeshadow palette has four shadows:

Bare Minerals The Instant Attraction Eyeshadow Palette

bareMinerals The Instant Attraction Eyeshadow Palette

Whirlwind – matte light peach

Happenstance – shimmery yellow gold

Anticipation – golden rose

Meant to Be – shimmering espresso

Bare Minerals The Instant Attraction Eyeshadow Palette

bareMinerals The Instant Attraction Eyeshadow Palette, left to right:  Whirlwind, Happenstance, Anticipation, Meant to Be

I think these shades are stunning, particularly together – they just look like a summer sunset, don’t they?? They have a rather powdery texture and the shimmery shades definitely have fallout. To lessen that pat them on, don’t sweep them onto your eyes. If you are going to be in the sun, know that you will probably have sparkle on your face, not just your eyes.

That said, the eyeshadows are so pretty I don’t mind dealing with a bit of fallout. They are very nicely pigmented and blend well. I love that bareMinerals gave a great diagram for that ‘sunset’ look:

Bare Minerals The Instant Attraction Eyeshadow Palette

The shades are stunning together and make a perfect palette for summer. For lips, I am loving the Chase Your Dreams shade of Marvelous Moxie Lipstick.

Bare Minerals Chase Your Dreams Lipstick

bareMinerals Chase Your Dreams Lipstick

Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Chase Your Dreams is a warm, brown-toned rose. This is a quintessential summer shade that works for day or night. I always love the texture and wear of the Marvelous Moxie lippies – buttery smooth, long-wearing full coverage.

Wearing bareMinerals Chase Your Dreams

Marvelous Moxie Lipstick has a slight minty taste at first, but that goes away quickly. It leaves lips hydrated with a nice slip thanks to the ‘moisture-loaded hydrating complex that helps to nourish and condition with Abyssinian Oil and Omega Fatty Acids for supple, baby-soft smoothness.‘ In addition, encapsulated vitamin A, C and E complex work hard as antioxidant defense.

This summer, don’t ignore The Instant Attraction and be sure to Chase Your DreamsbareMinerals will make it a season to remember!  – Lisa

Is the Viseart Theory Palette worth $45?

If you’ve read my organization post then you know that most of my organization is for eyeshadow. I have two very large drawers filled with palettes and singles, I have 2 byAlegory Acrylic Palette Organizers that are filled with palettes, I have several file cabinet drawers that are strictly for them, a separate vanity top container, plus my Sherrieblossom ICEbox. Would you say I’m obsessed? So why was it a necessity for me to purchase two Viseart Theory Palettes when they first became available? I know I don’t have to answer that.

Viseart Theory Palettes in Chroma and Cashmere

Viseart Theory Palettes in Chroma and Cashmere

Viseart is a makeup artist brand from France that has only become easily available to makeup enthusiasts in the last few years. For the longest time it wasn’t even available in the US but now that we can find it at Sephora, Beautylish, and other high end sites it’s become more and more coveted. What stops most people though is the $80 price for a very utilitarian packaged palette. Look into a true makeup artists case though and this is what you’ll find.

The brand’s founders launched their high-performance line in order to create makeup formulas that harness the best of natural and organic resources with modern technology. This artisan heritage makeup brand was conceived out of a shared passion for healthy products that go back to the roots of beauty, to naturally enhance the skin with plant based ingredients rather than aging the skin with harmful chemicals. Viseart is free of mineral oil, phenoxyethanol, sulfites, SLS, phthalates, paraffin, petrols, and parabens. Viseart is never tested on animals, it is made in our lab and factory in Paris, France.

Recently Viseart created 3 new palettes that they call their Theory Palettes. These have great packaging along with 6 shades of eyeshadow. Minx is the warmest of the three, Cashmere is reminiscent of the nude palettes we all buy, while Chroma is the charcoal/smoky eye palette. There are 3 matte shades and 3 shimmery shades in each of these.

Viseart Theory Palette packaging

Viseart Theory Palette packaging

The packaging is very clever since it opens by pulling the ribbon (above the white circle) to unfold. You can then fold it back so it looks like a small easel. One thing to note about these palettes is that they are very small. Closed it’s only 2.5″ x 3.25″. But it’s packed with Viseart quality, making up for the small size.

Viseart Cashmere Theory Palette

Viseart Cashmere Theory Palette

I’ve concentrated my usage on the Viseart Cashmere Theory Palette and haven’t really spent much time getting to know Chroma yet. The first time I used Cashmere I was very disappointed. Even though I have several of the large size Viseart palettes, I had forgotten just how glittery some of the Viseart shadows can be.

Viseart Cashmere swatches from beautylish

Viseart Cashmere swatches from beautylish

The secret though is in the tools you use. I can use almost any brush with the smooth matte shades but the 2 lighter shimmer shades throw off glitter onto my face. I’ve learned to pat them on rather than brush them on. Even then I do get some fallout but it’s not enough for me to regret my purchase.

Viseart Theory Palette in Cashmere swatches

Viseart Theory Palette in Cashmere swatches

Shades are a matte ivory, a shimmered almost luminescent ivory, matte milk chocolate, glittery golden taupe, dark chocolate, metallic brown gunmetal. There are so many combinations that you can create with these colors. The matte shades are good as transition shades, the dark chocolate can be used as an eyeliner and even as a brow color. As long as I can keep the shimmered shadows from living on my cheeks then I’m thrilled with the palette.

Viseart Chroma Theory Palette

Viseart Chroma Theory Palette

I don’t know why I haven’t dug into the beautiful Chroma palette but I will soon since I have a wedding upcoming and will experiment with it prior to the wedding. The colors in the palette look amazing for a more sophisticated eye look.

So what do you think? Is this worth $45 to you? Have you become enamored with Viseart yet?  — Marcia
