Brow and lash love for 2015

Make-up, applying mascara

As I was doing my makeup for New Year’s Eve I realized that the biggest change in my cosmetic life for 2015 was that I absolutely can not go without doing my brows anymore. A combination of age and illness created eyebrows that just didn’t cut it anymore. I went for most of my life not touching my eyebrows with much more than a tweezers. They had a great natural shape and were filled in nicely. That’s not the case any more. That’s why I decided to share the 2015 eyebrow and eyelash products that have made a difference for me.

PIXI BROW POWDER PALETTE  –  Shades of Brows

Pixi Beauty Brow Palette

Pixi Beauty Brow Palette

This is my most used brow product for everyday. My hair isn’t necessarily the same shade from color to color so I appreciate having a choice of shades that I can use straight or mix. Right now I’m dipping twice into the darkest shade and once in the one lighter since my hair is very dark at the moment. I’ll get it colored soon and can reevaluate how I want to use the colors. One of the best buys at $12 I’ve found. *

PIXI ENDLESS BROW GEL PEN

Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen in Medium

Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen in Medium

The Endless Brow Gel Pen is another best for me from Pixi. This is not a universally loved product but I like it so much that I bought 3 the last time I ordered from Pixi. It’s not really a pen, it’s a pencil that is gel-like in texture. It’s a heavier look than the brow palette because the gel is thicker. I like wearing this when my brows really need attention.

SENNA COSMETICS BROW SHAPER

Senna Brow Duo in Brunette

Senna Brow Duo in Brunette

I love Senna Cosmetics but I hadn’t tried their eyebrow products before because I just didn’t care about my eyebrows. Now that I have this Brow Shaper with the plumping brow shade and pomade I really appreciate why Eugenia Weston, owner and cosmetic guru, is so well known for eyebrows. These powders really cling to my eyebrow hair and fill in naturally where I’ve lost some hair. Another reason to love Senna. *

IT COSMETICS HEAVENLY LUXE BUILD A BROW BRUSH

It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Build A Brow and It Cosmetics Tightlining 10-in-1 Dual Ended brush

It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Eyebrow brush

It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Eyebrow brush

OMG, this is the best brush ever for eyebrows. It was created for IT’s Build a Brow Creme Gel Stain and it’s great with that but it also shines with every gel or cream brow product I’ve tried. The bristles are staggered so they really get into your brows to deposit color. This is totally unique and totally worth every penny of the $24 price.

BENEFIT ROLLER LASH MASCARA

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Officially named Roller Lash Super Curling and Lifting Mascara, this is one of my favorites of the year. I find Benefit Cosmetics to be hit or miss but after reading the raves for this I caved and I’m glad I did. The curved wand really does help curl your lashes although I always use an eyelash curler. The combo of the eyelash curler and Roller Lash gives me eyelashes that stay curled for a good 12 hours. This was good for me for a solid three months staying easy to wear and easy to remove.

CATRICE LASH MULTIMIZER VOLUME MASCARA

Catrice Ultimate Lash Multimizer Volume Mascara

Catrice Ultimate Lash Multimizer Volume Mascara

Catrice Ultimate Lash Multimizer Volume Mascara wand

Catrice Ultimate Lash Multimizer Volume Mascara wand

At $7.99 this is 1/3 the price of the Benefit mascara and almost as good. The Multimizer is a volume and definition mascara. While it doesn’t help add curl, it holds it well. The older this gets, the better it gets. Which means a new one is in my future.

BARE MINERALS LASH DOMINATION VOLUMIZING MASCARA

Bare Minerals Lash Domination

BareMinerals Lash Domination

2016 was the year I realized I loved volume mascaras. Before that I always thought I was looking for length and definition but the mascaras I like best this year turned out to be volumizing. Who knew? Besides charming me with the polka dot packaging, Lash Domination * charmed me with the twisty turny brush and lashes that looked great. They call this a 10-in-1 mascara since it Volumizes, Lengthens, Thickens, Separates, Lifts, has All-day wear, is Mineral fortified, Resists clumps, Fights Flakes, and is Smudge-resistant. After reviewing * this, I bought another.

SURRATT BEAUTY RELEVEE LASH CURLER

I didn’t need another eyelash curler but I wanted this Surratt Beauty one after reading all the raves. Everyone has different shaped eyes and the lash curlers that a lot of people rave about (Shu, ELF etc) pinch me. This Surratt Relevee has been a delight to use. It opens widely, does a great job fitting my eyes and creates a curl that really lasts. If I want to use the method of inching up my lashes I have to use a magnifying mirror so I can see my lashes better.

As usual with a list like this, I’m sure I left out other wonderful products that I discovered in 2015. Even if I did though I know I’m recommending the ones that really have stood out to me. Have you tried any of these? What would you say stood out the most for you this past year?  — Marcia

Favorite products to get holiday ready

For Makeup Wars today we are sharing our favorites for holiday beauty. For my post it’s the products I recently used to go out for a special dinner and that I’ll be replicating on Thanksgiving when someone else (hallelujah) is hosting a very elegant dinner. Come along and see what my special items are.

Surratt Eyelash Curler

Surratt Eyelash Curler

During Sephora’s F&F sale I treated myself to a Surratt Beauty Relevee Eyelash Curler ($30). I already own lash curlers and use one daily or my eyes disappear, but the hype on this was so strong that I needed to try the Surratt one. It has its pros and cons but for me it’s mostly a pro.

I feel like my lashes are curled better than ever without having any crimps in them. The curl seems to last longer too. The problem with this is that it’s black and my eyelashes are very dark so it’s sort of a game using the lash curler. I can’t see if my eyelashes are in there straight so I just wait til it feels comfortable and squeeze; move it again and squeeze. So far so good.

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow Duo

As an eyeshadow base I used Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow in Champagne*.  This is one of the two liquid eyeshadows sold together on QVC ($34). I love both shades and wear them when I want some gorgeous shimmer that won’t wander – ever. On my non-oily lids I don’t need an eyeshadow primer since this does the job.

The swatches are applied heavily but on my eyes it becomes a sheer wash of color. My powder eyeshadows become even more vibrant and long lasting when using these as a base but these cream shadows are great all by themselves too.

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Right now I have a crush on Lorac Pro Metal Palette ($28). I bought this after seeing a review on Beauty Junkies Unite and knew it had to be mine. I love a high shine and these 8 shades do it right. Quartz is very white on me which is why the Wander Beauty base is better for my brow bone. I love Gilded‘s gold on my lid and Graphite‘s golden taupe in my crease. The palette in general though is fabulous with Rose Gold, Onyx (dark charcoal), Amber (copper), Clover (golden khaki), and Cobalt (navy). These shadows are like silk. This is limited edition so if you love these kinds of shadows be sure you check it out.

Youngblood Luminous Crme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme Blush in Taffeta is my favorite blush ever. I use up just about nothing cosmetic wise but I’m on my second pot of this. It’s a go-to blush for me that I feel is the perfect pink for my skin. I really didn’t think it could get better until Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick ($28)* came into my life.

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

The Jennifer Bradley Glow Stick is a light pink cream highlighter that can be used on cheeks, face and eyes. It’s got a luminous quality without a single drop of glitter or shimmer. It feels almost magical when applied. This comes in a plastic tube with a wand ball applicator that makes it easy to apply. It doesn’t migrate on my face. I’ve used it on my browbone, over a blush and on the cupid’s bow of my mouth. While it’s subtle, it gives a twinkle when you move your head certain ways or in some lights. It’s the perfect strobing product for people who want the glow without the fuss. I store mine upside down in a lipstick holder and shake it just before use.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox’s Brow Tech Gloss Stick ($21)* brings a new dimension to my quest for good eyebrows. I follow a blog (If Makeup Could Talk) and she always has the most amazing brow look. I never could figure out how to get my brows to look glossy like hers. I didn’t want anything sticky.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick - taupe on top, brunette on bottom

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick – taupe on top, brunette on bottom

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick is the answer to my question. This wind up brow stick comes in 4 shades. I was sent both Taupe and Brunette. I can use them both but it’s Brunette that really gives me that special look. These are glossy without being over the top. They add a beautiful, non-sticky sheen to my eyebrows while filling them in well. I save these for nights out so that I can feel special when I’m trying to look my best.

Of course there’s more to it than these 6 products but this is gist of my favorite look lately. I feel it’s holiday ready and ups my everyday face to something more special. Each of these are products I can highly recommend.

What are your favorites for holiday party looks? — Marcia

Tarte Cosmetics Fall 2014 collection review and swatches part two

Yesterday, I reviewed the primers and concealers from the exciting new tarte cosmetics Fall 2014 collection.

tarte fall 2014 collage

Today I have the rest of the items tarte sent us.  I love that the packaging features snake skin, because these products are as adaptable as a snake shedding its skin.tarte fall 2014 best in fauxbest in faux lash extending fibers ($19) is very interesting.  The fibers are black, not white, so it almost seems like putting on two different types of mascara.  Start with the tube of lights, camera, lashes mascara to prep lashes for grabbing onto the fibers, follow with the best in faux fiber wand, then finish with another coat of mascara.

Typically I have big problems with fiber lash enhancers – the fibers bother my eyes and make them very uncomfortable.  But this system works fantastically for me – big huge lashes that wear perfect through the day with no fallout!

I am totally digging the limited-edition Amazonian clay dual eyeliner ($24).  Holy smokes this is good stuff.

The dual eyeliner comes in a large glass jar with two shades of gel eyeliner.  I have the brown/black duo.  The brown is not a flat brown, it’s more of a shimmery bronze.  This is a super creamy, easy to apply gel liner that has a little play time before drying down to a smudge-free line that just doesn’t budge.  I love using the black on the top lash line and the brown on the bottom lash line.  This dual liner also comes in a green/black duo and a plum/black duo, and I am most definitely buying both of them.

The colored clay tinted brow gel ($21) was a surprise to me.  I am so used to larger, mascara-sized brushes for brow gels that this tiny little brush took me aback at first.

The tiny little brush packs a big punch.  I absolutely adore what it does for my brows…they look polished and perfect with just one swipe.  This is a seriously great brow gel that fills in brows and keeps them in place all day.  And the tiny brush is a stroke of genius – the larger ones always leave extra gel that I have to wipe off, so my on-the-thin-side brows love this.

I can’t have a complete eye look without curling my lashes – mine are stick straight without the help.  The be charmed limited edition picture perfect eyelash curler ($19) is a great option that isn’t too small for larger eyes.  Plus, this one includes a removable snake charm and a deluxe size lights, camera, flashes mascara.

Lots of eyelash curlers are too small for my eyes, but the be charmed eyelash curler works with room to spare.  It gives major curl that doesn’t droop by the end of the day.  Take the cool snake charm off and put it on your purse or keychain – snakes are a symbol of spiritual guidance and personal growth, so it’s a perfect reminder that you are on the right path!

That’s a lot of items for eyes…for lips, the tarte Fall 2014 collection features a new LipSurgence lip gloss ($19) shade, Envy.

envy is a matte yet shiny mauve berry shade.  It’s a natural shade that gives lips a little ‘oomph’ of color plus a lot of glossy shine.  It keeps my lips looking and feeling moist and lush.  Love it.

Overall, the tarte cosmetics Fall 2014 collection is pretty darn fabulous.  The biggest surprises for me were the dual eyeliner and the colored clay brow gel.  I think my favorite items are the best in faux lash fibers and the be charmed eyelash curler…although there isn’t a clunker in the bunch.  tarte has definitely outdone themselves with this collection.  Thumbs up!  – Lisa

Top Ten Tuesday shares top 10 mascaras

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday. To start 2014 we’ve decided to show off our favorite mascaras. I’m sort of like a broken record so there will be a lot you’ve seen before. I’m more than willing to try many mascaras – the more the better actually – but these are the ones I’ve bought again and again which is why they are on this list. I actually only have 8 mascaras on this list and 2 tools. Without these two tools you’d never even see my eyelashes so they had to be included. Sorry if you think that’s a cheat but I they are just as important as these mascaras.

1. Tweezerman Pro-Curl Eyelash Curler *- this is one of several favorites actually. I also recommend eyelash curlers from Kevyn Aucoin, Shiseido and tarte cosmetics. My lashes grow down but using an eyelash curler that doesn’t pinch keeps them curled all day with this group of mascara.

2. Senna Voluptous Lash Mascara *- I love this brush with its helix shape. The first time I used it I didn’t think it was that unusual but as time went on I learned to love it more and more. It will be a sorry day when I have to toss this one.

3. It Cosmetics Hello Lashes – are you tired of me talking about it? Then buy it and see for yourself why I’m so crazy about it. It’s a primer, a lash serum, and a mascara. Plus it has that ball to make sure everything gets covered. I like it so much I was willing to show you a picture of my lashes wearing it!

4. Eddie Funkhouser Quatro Variable Lash Mascara – speaking of being tired of me mentioning something!! This mascara knocked my socks off. I love that you have 4 brushes in one when you swivel the end. I typically use setting two but I can get more dramatic if I want. Since I have to order them online I’m buying two at a time. I hope to find it locally soon enough though. For a “thrill” you can see me wearing it on Babble.

5. Armani Eyes to Kill – I love the original Eyes to Kill mascara. I wasn’t crazy about other versions but this one made me feel like I had eyelashes to contend with.

6. Marcelle Xtension Plus *- Marcelle makes some outstanding mascara. This was my second mascara from them and I’ve since bought another version that needs to be reviewed. Marcelle is a Canadian drugstore brand that is also sold online. It’s worth a little extra effort.

7. Dior Iconic Mascara – I think I’m one of the few that isn’t crazy about DiorShow. When I went to buy my second Iconic even the MA working at the counter was surprised that I liked it better than their others. It just works for me. I like definition and length in a mascara and this gives me both as you can see by the photo.

8. Marcelle Precision Volume mascara *- This is the first Marcelle I tried and raved non-stop about. I love the shape of the brush, love that it lasts the day.

Marcelle Precision Volume wand

9. Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant mascara *- I have to tell the truth. When I first used this mascara I didn’t think it was that great. But I needed to review it so I kept using it to get the full picture. Then suddenly I realized that it was a terrific mascara and that was one of the best.

10. Tweezerman iLash comb – This isn’t a mascara obviously but it’s something my mascara wants me to tell you about. I don’t need to use it every day but when I need it, there’s nothing quite like it. Julia Roberts might choose to use a safety pin (in Charlie Wilson’s War) but I use the Folding ILashcomb. I lost that pretty clear one but have two more – a navy one and a pink one. That’s love!

When Tarte was kind enough to send us some items for review my eyes glommed instantly onto this Rare Gem limited edition rhinestone picture perfect™ eyelash curler with a deluxe lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara. Who can resist purple rhinestones? I surely can’t. I love purple, I love rhinestones and I love tarte. The perfect combination. And guess what – this amazing set costs only $19! I was shocked when I saw the price. I’m always looking for gifts that are in this price range and I know exactly whose eyes will glimmer when they see this in their package.

The eyelash curler is surprisingly easy to use. You’d think that the rhinestone handle would get uncomfortable but it doesn’t. It opens very wide so it’s easy to get your eyelashes in without pinching. This great set comes with an additional rubber applicator replacement. Plus the mascara that it comes with is Lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara, one of tarte’s best. This is the total package!

LISA’S PICKS FOR EYES:

I actually have two picks, because both sets are terrific values and come with some of my favorite tarte items.  I am loving the Stop and Stare set ($39) and the Best for Lash set ($25).

The Stop and Stare set comes with six items:  3 full size skinny smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liners in onyx, purple garnet (a new shade) and azurite green; 2 full size smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liners in taupe (a new shade) and rose gold; and a deluxe size lights, camera, flashes™ statement mascara.  It has everything you need to create beautiful eyes that truly will make everyone stop and stare.

The lights, camera, flashes statement mascara is a great mascara, especially for tons of volume and lots of length. The skinny eyeliners are great for getting a super precise line that really lasts. And the chubby waterproof liners give a gorgeous, thick line that can be smudged out with the rubber smudger or even used as a lid shade. Here are some swatches:

Another great option for eyes is the Best for Lash set, which has my vote for ‘most clever name’.

This set has four items:  a deluxe size multiplEYE™ lash enhancing primer, a deluxe size  lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara, a deluxe size lights, camera, flashes™ statement mascara, and a deluxe size lights, camera, lashes™ waterproof 12-hr inner rim liner.

Just think of the amazing eye looks you can create with the primer to boost lash volume, two different choices of mascara (the 4 in 1 for excellent separation and curl, and the flashes 4 in 1 for even more volume), and the rim liner for super precise eye lining and rim lining! Both of these sets are perfect for any cosmetics-loving gal and even more perfect for YOU.

September’s Glossybox grandly welcomes fall

September 2013 Glossybox

September 2013 Glossybox

It’s been a while since I’ve had a Glossybox in my life. I was sent the September 2013 box to test and I have to tell you that I’m very impressed. There are 4 full size items along with 1 very generous sample. I fell for this Fall subscription box when I opened it. A Glossybox subscription costs you $21 a month and this box has a value of $107. Now that’s a great investment. What’s inside though is what makes this a box worth owning.

September 2013 Glossybox - 4 out of 5 are full size

September 2013 Glossybox – 4 out of 5 are full size

Everything in this Glossybox will be used by either Lisa or myself. I don’t have that happen often. Lisa was thrilled to receive the Nioxin and the fragrance while I kept the makeup items.

A box from Glossybox for Sept. 2013

A box from Glossybox for Sept. 2013

Let’s start with the obvious:

NIOXIN Diamax Treatment

NIOXIN Diamax Treatment

NIOXIN Diamax Treatment

NIOXIN Diamax Treatment

Nioxin is the brand to go to (in my opininon) if you have thinning hair. I used it when I had hair problems due to illness and it was a lifesaver. The Nioxin Diamax Treatment is a thickening treatment. It helps strengthen you hair against breakage. This retails for $50. I give this a giant thumbs up.

Glossybox BCBGMAXAZRIA deluxe sample

Glossybox BCBGMAXAZRIA deluxe sample

BCBGMAXAZRIA: Bon Genre Eau De Parfum – this is the only sample in the box and I thought it was full sized when I opened it. The card showed me the pretty bottle that it comes in for $75. Even though I’m not a fragrance person I appreciate this size. Glossybox tells me it’s: “Seductive, mysterious, and intriguing. BCBGMAXAZRIA  Bon Genre is a statement making fragrance inspired by the effortlessly cool sensibility of the urban rocker woman.” Maybe that’s why it made Lisa so happy when I gave it to her or it might have been the combination of jasmine, sandalwood and amber. I just know that she put it on immediately and liked it the whole hour we were together. Here’s what I learned about this scent: It has opening notes of lychee and red berries, middle notes of tiger lily and jasmine noir and base notes of sandalwood and golden amber.

Be A Bombshell Onyx liquid eyeliner

BE A BOMBSHELL LIQUID EYELINER IN ONYX: As a huge fan of eyeliner, especially liquid eyeliner, this was the a prize for me. I’ve used Be A Bombshell Liquid Eyeliner before so I know it’s a good one. This $14 eyeliner lasts well during the day though I do find that it fades a little on the bottom lashline. It stays perfect though on the top lashline. The tip (which I forgot to photograph) lets you do a precise thin line or is a good one for a thicker liner or cat eye.

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curler

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curler

EMITE MAKEUP EYELASH CURLER – Since I’m all about eyes owning this eyelash curler is a thrill. This is a high quality tool that sells for $30.50. It comes with an additional 4 rubber pads which is unheard of. I’ve used it now for several days and I really like it. It’s larger than my Tweezerman or Shiseido lash curlers but after day one it felt great on my eyes. I’m the type that doesn’t see things that are right in front of me so having this as an extra is two thumbs up. Here’s what Glossybox says: “Our Professional Eye Lash curler has a special curved design which angles to suit all eye shapes without touching your makeup base. Its silicone rubber pad applies the appropriate amount of pressure to curl lashes naturally. Your eye lashes will remain in perfect shape all day.”

Oceane Makeup Remover Pen

Oceane Makeup Remover Pen

Oceane Makeup Remover Pen

OCEANE MAKEUP REMOVER PEN is very handy. Where it does the best job is as a spot remover or to take with you in case your makeup runs. It comes with 3 extra tips so if the one you are using gets too dirty to use, you can change it. This $5.30 tool will come in quite handy.

Here’s a tease for the October box which I believe you can still get in on:

Glossybox hint for October 2013

Glossybox hint for October 2013

The October box is done in collaboration with BYRDIE which is a lifestyle blog that was created by the founders of WHO WHAT WEAR. This should be another winner! More news: you can order the October Glossybox throughout the month of October plus I found out one great item that will be in it: Tarte Light, Camera, Flashes mascara. This full size mascara sells for $23 so that alone pays for you October box and there will be more. I’ll announce new sneak peaks as I find out about them.

I am very impressed with the September 2013 Glossybox. I think they really came through. Other than the fragrance I could use everything in the box and I learned about some new products. Good job Glossybox, with this kind of box you’ll win back some of your old customers. Are you a Glossybox subscriber? What do you think of the September box? — Marcia

Beauty Spotlight Team takes you to a Desert Island

Packed and ready for the desert island

Welcome to the first edition of Beauty Spotlight Team On A Desert Island. The Beauty Spotlight Team has shown you our makeup bags and also a “mystery” post about things you’d never seen that we like. Now we’re deserting each of the bloggers on a “desert island” to see their interpretation of this challenge. The rules are that we can bring a bag holding only twelve items. We aren’t bringing sunscreen or lip balm because our desert island will have a stash of that. Civilization rules when it comes to beauty bloggers. We hope you will be looking forward to our future posts.

You’d think that think that this would be an easy assignment. After all finding twelve items that you love isn’t hard at all. Until you try to put it together that is. I had several dilemmas. First do I want to look glamorous? I’m not sure who I’m looking glamorous for though. Second do I need to just pamper my skin so that when the rescue ship comes to get me I won’t look like Tom Hanks or his basketball. Third this reminds me of the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. As soon as you pick one item you need more to go with it. Pick an eyeliner and you need a brush or sharpener. Pick eyeshadow or powder products and you need tools. The list could go on and you’d still want a cookie. I’ve decided to bend the rules a tiny bit. Some of these items are my Holy Grails and some are things I like a lot but could switch if needed. But they all are items I’d enjoy on my stay on the desert island.

12 items for my adventure

Here are the 12 in no particular order:

1. Anastasia’s Want You to Want Me Eye Shadow Palette– this is my cheat. This amazing set is all in one box though so I’m counting it as one even though in reality there are 4 items in it. There’s a beautiful e/s palette with 9 shades in the brown and purple families, a small liquid eyeliner in black, a mini clear brow gel and a small two sided brush. Plus the box has a nice size mirror so that crosses that off my list. This will be reviewed in full soon but believe me it’s “desert island” worthy.

Anastasia Want You to Want Me

Anastasia Want You to Want Me open

2. 3Lab Perfect BB Cream – this was one of my choices in the recent Makeup Wars. The reason I picked this particular BB cream is that the tube is easier to travel with than the Skin79 cylinder and I don’t notice any lingering fragrance. I figured that a BB cream is everything I need for my skin during the day and it’s light enough that it won’t be melting off in the sun.

3. Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender – which is a Holy Grail item for me. I use this almost every day (on the other days I’ll use powder especially IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores). The problem with the Mally is “if you give a mouse a cookie”…

4. then you need the applicator. So number 4 is the Mally Ultimate Performance Sponge applicator which is perfect for the Pore Defender.

5. MAC 217 brush is next. I have a ton of brushes but this is the most versatile and reliable for the way I apply eyeshadow.

6. Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Waterproof Concealer, another HG item. It’s perfect for my undereye area and I rely on this to hide the dark circles daily.

7. Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint in Sweet for my lip product. I love the color and the feel plus it winds up so I don’t need to worry about sharpening this lip crayon.

8. Tweezerman Pro Curl Eyelash Curler is going with me but I don’t have room for mascara. I love the eyelash curler and if I at least curl my lashes it’s not too bad plus I’d probably cheat and use the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel on my lashes instead since my eyebrows aren’t great.

9.  Youngblood Luminous Cream blush in Taffeta which is very close to being a Holy Grail blush. I wear this more than any other blush I own. The color works well too with my Tarte Lipsurgence and the Anastasia eyeshadow colors.

10. Algenist Eye Renewal Balm– this is my current favorite. I’m a slut when it comes to eye creams and this eye balm is one of my favorite “customers”.

11. Tweezerman tweezers– if I didn’t take this I’d look like Santa Claus when I was picked up. I’d have a beard! My Tweezerman tweezers are absolute HG material.

12.  Another cheat is coming – my Adventuress Skin Care travel set. I just reviewed this and while I was debating what my 12th item would be I realized that this kit is perfect – cleanser, SPF that is good for my face, skin purifier and a moisturizer I’d use at night especially.

This sounds like a lot but think of everything I left out: shampoo, conditioner, a comb or brush, eye makeup remover, body lotion, tooth brush and toothpaste etc. I just hope I have a Twistband in my hair when I’m taken away to the island since that will at least keep my hair a little tidy. I wonder if the mouse will be a stowaway in my bag! Are any of these on your Desert Island list? — Marcia

Which of these would you take?
