A Touch O’ Tatcha Polishes Your Skin

Tatcha is a luxurious Japanese skincare line that I was anxious to try. The line is based on “Japanese beauty secrets passed down by generations that took a different approach to skincare – that less is more.” Scientists from Japan and the US have worked together to create the perfect blend of anti-aging superfood for our skin.

I ordered the Dry Skin Ritual kit and while all the products performed well, the Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder was the stand out for me. There are four versions of this powder for regular, sensitive, dry, oily skin.

Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder

Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder

You use this powder as a second step in a two step (using the cleansing oil first) cleansing ritual. I use it in the morning (you can use it twice a day) on water-moistened skin. Into my wet hands, I shake about 1/2 teaspoon of powder and rub my hands together to get a lather and massage it into my face and neck. Rinse off and you’re done but your skin looks polished and clean.

I am going to buy this in the full size as the kit came with a smaller jar.  Tatcha, I gotcha in my skin care ritual.  — Phyllis

Juicy cleansing with Derma MD Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya

Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya

Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya

Early this month I gave a quick review of several Derma MD products that were sent for review. At the time they were being offered for the first time on Hautelook. Derma MD wanted to alert people to this fact and I was the lucky recipient of products to review. I’m loving all of the skincare that they sent me and will be reviewing more soon.

I like to test products for a minimum of 30 days before reviewing them. While I haven’t used this cleanser for that full amount of time, I’ve used it every night for almost 3 weeks. Derma MD Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya ($34.95) has become a favorite that I actually enjoy using. It’s not often that I can say a cleanser is fun but this one actually is.

Here’s what I like so much about Derma MD Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya:

1. The texture of the Enzyme Cleanser is different than any others I own. I think this is what makes it fun. It’s jelly-like and slurpy. When I squeeze the plastic bottle to remove the cleanser some of it slurps back in.

2. The feel of the cleanser is cool. It feels refreshing when applied.

3. This foams up nicely but not with the feeling that it’s stripping my skin. I can feel the cleansing in action yet it’s lightly moisturizing at the same time.

4. I don’t need a toner after using this since it cleanses thoroughly.

5. It has the most delicious fragrance and this comes from a fragrance-phobe. The first time I used it I was worried about how the smell would affect me but now I look forward to this sweet pineapple aroma that’s just a tiny bit tart at the same time.

6. The cleanser contains very gentle enzymes of pineapple and papaya which are helpful for removing dead skin cells so that your skin is soft, hydrated and fresh feeling.

7. It feels like I’m getting some deep pore cleansing with this Derma MD cleanser. I have large pores that I hate and I want to know they are being properly cleansed. Since enzymes are known to destroy dead skin cells and pores are often filled with those cells, I am comfortable knowing that my pores are being taken care of properly.

8. The key ingredients are Pineapple & Papaya Enzyme, Aloe Vera Extract, Wheat Protein Amino Acid, Dex-Panthenol, Avocado Oil.

While the price of Derma MD Enzymatic Cleanser is on the high side I feel that it’s worth it. I don’t know if it will come back to Hautelook or not but if it does jump on that opportunity. And if it doesn’t, then sign up for 10% off the Derma MD website and indulge yourself with a great cleanser. — Marcia

Derma MD trio of goodness

Derma MD trio of goodness

I’ve just begun using some Derma MD products that were sent for review so this is just an introduction to the company. I normally don’t do a pre-review but I learned that Derma MD is going to be sold on Hautelook on May 4, 2014 so I didn’t want that to go by without you learning a little about the line. I’ve found that when I’ve bought skincare on Hautelook in the past that I’ve saved a bundle and gotten wonderful high end products like Derma MD.

When I read about the philosophy of Derma MD I had no qualms about reviewing their line. They know that we all have different skin types and different needs so no product can be the holy grail for each of us. Derma MD has several key ingredients in their products to help meet needs. What they say is that a line needs to have the following: ingredients to deep pore cleanse, moisturizing and hydrating ingredients to maintain and increase moisture, antioxidants to protect from free radical damage, peptides to build new collagen, vitamins and mineral to feed and nourish, exfoliating and rejuvenating ingredients to increase cellular turnover and improve texture and skin tone, as well as an array of specialty ingredients to target specific needs or issues. Derma MD contains them all.

When we are addressing a specific skin condition, then we need to produce products with therapeutic type of ingredients to target the problem…i.e. Acne, we need to have more ingredients that will target acne P bacteria…for Rosacea, we need to have antioxidants and ingredients that will reduce inflammation, and for pigmentation problems, we incorporate potent lightening and melanin inhibitor agents. What are important are how the ingredients are delivered and the percentages used to get satisfied results. You can rest assured when purchasing Derma MD products, what is in the package is the newest proven ingredients available for that finished product with the highest concentration level of percentages allowed to provide our customers RESULTS.”

I’ve been using 3 products for the last week and will be doing a more comprehensive review once I’ve given these at least a month’s worth of use. So far I’m impressed enough to introduce you to these since they’ll be part of the Hautelook sale.

Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya

Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya

Enzyme Cleanser with Pineapple and Papaya ($48) is a very effective wash. There’s a slight tingle when I use it and the pleasant fragrance of the pineapple at work. The key ingredients are Pineapple & Papaya Enzyme, Aloe Vera Extract, Wheat Protein Amino Acid, Dex-Panthenol, Avocado Oil. What I like about the wash is that it not only helps hydrate but it helps with deep pore cleansing.

PINK SILK Face Firming Rejuvenator

PINK SILK Face Firming Rejuvenator

PINK SILK Face Firming Rejuvenator is their number 1 best seller. This truly is pink and feels very silky. I’m really excited about this product and can’t wait to see what comes about. It promises to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles; even out skin tone; hydrate; improve elasticity and fight free radicals. I’ll take it! I can use help in all those areas. This sells for $138.95 so the sale at Hautelook will be welcome.

S-Cargot Lifting Serum

S-Cargot Lifting Serum

S-Cargot Lifting Serum ($149.95) has my favorite name of all the products. Now don’t be squeamish about the snail technology. I promise you that no snails will pop out of the bottle. Snail secretion is one of the newest ingredients in cosmetics. You’ll find it in a lot of products but not everyone talks about it because they are afraid it will frighten you away. There’s no need for that since *Snail Technology is a NATURAL source of skin-softening , allantoin, collagen and elastin works as active ingredient for skin repair, dead skin removal and anti-bacterial treatment. It also uses apple stem cell extract and I know that doesn’t frighten you.

I’m using Pink Silk Face Firming Rejuvenator in the morning and S-Cargot Lifting Serum at night and soon I’ll be younger looking than all of you. Or at least I hope so! I’ll report back!

Glamur Lip Plumper

Glamur Lip Plumper

Last in my kit is the Glamur Lip Plumper ($24.95) to help reduce lip lines. It can be used alone or over a lip product. I found it was tingly when used alone but more comfortable over a lipstick. It added a pretty glossy look with a touch of gold sparkle but didn’t interfere with the lipstick shade.  The key ingredients are encapsulated hyaluronic acid micro-spheres, retinyl palmitate, vitamin E, niacin and titanium dioxide.

Check out the Derma MD line on their website and then again on Hautelook starting May 4th (and May 5th) for some steals. — Marcia
