Make Up not War with Ellis Faas

Ellis Faas Make Up Not WarFrom Ellis Faas:  just like makeup, life in general should be based on freedom: freedom to be who you are, freedom to show the world who you are – without boundaries or rules and most certainly without being condemned, hated or prosecuted for being yourself.

Every day we are confronted by the volatile times we live in, filled with disrespect and downright hatred. That is why we have to make a stand. We can’t just look into the mirror and hide behind our make up. For us at ELLIS FAAS, Make Up Not War is not a political, let alone a cosmetic plea. It is a call for humanity. We all have to look at ourselves to see how we can play our part in making this world a better place. And in order to break the negative chain of hate and war, we feel we must especially take care of the children who fall victim to the conflicts in this world, and to prevent them from falling into a vicious circle.

As part of our plea to Make Up Not War, we are donating €1 to War Child for each product that we sell via ELLISFAAS.com between now and October 31. To encourage our customers to help us raise as much money as possible, we are also waiving the shipping costs during this period.

If you want to learn more about War Child, please visit: warchild.org or any of their local sites, through which people can also make a direct donation to this wonderful organisation.

Ellis Faas Concealer, Skin Veil Foundation, and Lights Eyeshadow review and swatches

Ellis Faas CosmeticsThe recent easy, breezy days with beautiful blooming lilac bushes have inspired me to do a summer look using Ellis Faas Cosmetics. Using my Ellis Faas stash is always total fun. I have a ball playing with the colors and feeling like a kid and an artist all rolled into one. The iconic bullet shaped pen applicators squeeze out color for mixing, playing, and experimenting. For those who prefer a traditional container, Ellis Faas has exactly what you want with their Foundation.

My look started with a few items that Ellis Faas sent us to test:  S204 Concealer, Skin Veil Foundation in S104L, and E301 Eyeshadow.

Ellis Faas S204 Concealer

Ellis Faas S204 Concealer

The Concealer ($40) is fantastic. You can either paint it on using the brush, or else pump some out onto a steel palette and use your own brush. It gives me terrific coverage that is natural looking and it doesn’t settle into fine lines. It covers my dark under eye circles and stays put all day. Love this. I also love this tip from Ellis Faas:  The secret to seamless concealer coverage lies in its relation to the foundation colour: darker skin demands more contrast between concealer and foundation, while lighter skin requires foundation and concealer that are more similar in colour.

Speaking of love….love love love the Skin Veil Foundation ($90)!! I have the bottle version, but the same foundation can be found is available in the Ellis Faas Pen for $65. Oh my goodness is this amazing. The creamy liquid foundation applies like a dream. It offers medium to full coverage and blends so beautifully…it really looks like your skin, only better. I actually like to apply this with my hands. I put two pumps into my palm, rubs my hands together, then smooth onto my face. It gives a truly flawless appearance. I can’t get over how much I love this foundation. My color is S104L, which is actually my summer shade when I am faux-tanning. It is great for medium skin. There are 8 shades available with great options for darker skin.

Ellis Faas E301

Ellis Faas E301

The Lights E301 Eyeshadow is one of the five dazzling ‘Light’ eyeshadows that offer a shimmery metallic effect.  Light E301 is a stunning silver that really opens the eye. I use this on the inner corner of the mobile lid for a great effect that is particularly terrific for deep-set eyes.

Beginning with these three winners from Ellis Faas, I built a perfect summery look. I started with the Skin Veil Foundation using my hands, followed by the Concealer in a scalene triangle shape under my eyes.

Ellis Faas Glow Up S503

Next I added S304 Blush, which is a mulled wine shade that gives a great glow from within look, as well as Glow Up in S503 for a little bronzing.

Ellis Faas E106

Ellis Faas Eyeliner

Ellis Faas Eyeliner E502

For my eyes, I used Lights E301 Eyeshadow on the inside half of the mobile lid. Then I used Creamy Eyes E106, a lilac taupe (how perfect!) for the crease and outer corner; and Eyeliner E502 which is a milk chocolate shade.  I wish I had the Ellis Faas Mascara but I’m out…it’s my favorite mascara of all time.

I finished with Hot Lips 408, a baby pink, topped with a little Glazed Lips L309, a clear lip gloss – my holy grail clear lip gloss.

Lisa’s Top Twelve Picks for 2013

The older I get, the faster times flies…I just can’t believe another year has gone by already!

goodbye-2013-and-hello-2014-32013 was a great year for fantastic finds that I now use almost every day.  Here, in no particular order, are my favorite products that have brought me constant joy.

1.  Verge Ribbon Wand ($120)

and then the Ribbon Wand curl combed through with my fingers…swoon!

The Verge Ribbon Wand is like a curling iron and a flat iron got together and had a baby. It makes extravagant, sort of retro curls.

2.  Wantable Accessories Subscription Box ($40 for one box)

Ellen

Wantable Ellen Necklace

I adore subscription boxes and none continually delighted me as much in 2013 as my Wantable Accessories Subscription Box. My jewelry wardrobe now has far more depth and interest than ever before.

3.  Bronze Buffer (2 sponges for $10)

Ah, sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference. These little sponges (they always make me think of Lisa from The Simpsons!) ensure that my every faux tan is perfection.

4.  HTY Gold

This wonderful line was new to me in 2013 and I adored everything I tested…the Face and Neck Serum is unquestionably worth its weight in gold.

5.  Lanikai Bath and Body

Lanikai is such a gorgeous bath and body line, and I am always up for some Hawaiian daydreaming. I adore, adore, adore the Loofah Soap, it is amazing.

6.  Zuca Artist Backpack ($139)

I use this backpack at least six days a week. I love it. Zuca has tons of amazing travel items and organizational things for makeup artists but this is my favorite. I rarely go anywhere without it.

7.  Make Up For Ever 102 Small Foundation Kabuki Brush ($36)

I use this every single day. It is the best buffing brush for concealer I have ever found.

8.  Bango Hair Cutting Kit ($15.99)

If you have bangs…or if your kids have bangs…you need this. I am a total klutz with scissors and I get perfect results every time. It saved me a ton of money in 2013.

9.  Cailyn Gelux Eyebrow ($22)

I love the ingenious packaging, and I love the eyebrow gel even more. It makes great looking eyebrows a very easy thing to accomplish.

10.  Ellis Faas Hot Lips ($35)

Without fail, one of these liquid lip gloss/stains is always in my purse. I dig everything about them – the texture, the shades, the packaging…and especially how great they make my not-so-great lips look.

11.  Savvy Sleeper Satin Pillowcases (from $36)

Savvy

Not only does this satin pillowcase prevent those awful morning face creases, it also has a secret pocket for my hubby to slip me a love note. It is awesome.

12.  Senna Voluptulash Mascara ($22)

Senna Voluptulash Mascara

Senna Voluptulash Mascara

This is the best mascara I tried in 2013. The super cool helix-shaped brush gives me great big, soft, long lashes with just one coat.  It’s a winner!

2013 was a great year for beauty items…what fabulous finds made your list??

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Lisa
