Pixi Beauty cosmetics and skin care needs no introduction! Giveaway time

Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline, Rose Gold, and Bare Brilliance

David Letterman has a new show on Netflix named “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” and that’s exactly how we feel about Pixi Beauty. It needs no introduction as a brand since we rave about them all the time. They are always coming out with new products that are unique to the market and have built up a wonderful reputation for both their Skintreats and their cosmetics. So they need no introduction, just reviews. Oh and a giveaway too.

Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline, Rose Gold, and Bare Brilliance

LISA IS LOVING ON PIXI BEAUTY COSMETICS TODAY

There is a lot to love from Pixi and today I am crushing on Pixi eyes and lips.  My first date with LIQUID FAIRY LIGHTS ($15) was actually a total dud…but that’s because I thought these beauties were for lips! Yes, I used these liquid glimmer eyeshadows on my lips and was like, man, these sure are gritty. I can’t recommend these at all.  What a bummer, they are so gorgeous in the tube…how did Pixi get this so wrong?? Then I took a look at the packaging and just had to laugh!!

Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline, Rose Gold, and Bare Brilliance

So on my eyes they went for a second date and a true love affair was born. They are GORGEOUS. Even on my old eyes, these glimmery ethereal shadows are fantastic. They feel very interesting when applied – they go on wet and feel moist for a bit, probably thanks to the chamomile and rose extracts in the formula. They dry down in a few minutes and are so pretty. I love them by themselves, although you can also layer them over other eyeshadows if you want to add depth.

Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Bare Brilliance

Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline, Rose Gold, and Bare Brilliance

Crystalline is a silvery sparkling white. Bare Brilliance is glimmering brown. Rose Gold is a shimmery golden brown. I apply them with the doe foot applicator (another reason I thought they were lip glosses!!) but you can use a brush or your finger.

Moving on to actual Pixi lip products, the MATTELAST LIQUID LIP ($14) is an excellent matte lippie. It lasts forever and doesn’t flake or become overly drying. It has rosehip oil in it which makes this easier to wear than many other matte lippies.

Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip in Prettiest Pink

Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip in Prettiest Pink

Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip in Prettiest Pink

I really like the applicator – it’s called a PixiPetal applicator and Pixi says that it ‘provides even and precise application’ and I have to agree. You outline your lips with the point of the applicator then fill in the color with the flat side. My shade is Prettiest Pink, which is a very bright blue pink. It’s a little intense for my thin lips so I tone it down with some gloss. I want to try this in other shades that would work better for my lips, like Pastel Petal or Really Rose.

Pixi LipLift Max in Peony Bloom

Pixi LipLift Max in Peony Bloom

Pixi LipLift Max in Peony Bloom

I also love the LIPLIFT MAX ($14), which is Pixi’s plumping lip gloss. It gives lips a shiny, glossy look and has a fresh, minty taste. It has a nice slip that isn’t sticky at all, and the formula has peptides, aloe, jojoba, and chamomile that treats and hydrates lips while also plumping them up. Mine is in the shade Peony Bloom, which is a very pretty peachy pink. I just love it for spring!!

MARCIA IS FAVORING PIXI SKINTREATS TODAY

Pixi Skintreats: T-Zone Peel Off Mask, Rose Cream Cleanser, Rose Tonic

When Petra Strand started Pixi Beauty just 10 years ago you only knew about her radiant cosmetics but she always had a passion for skincare. Her first skincare item, Glow Tonic, took off and became a world favorite for women wanting natural beauty that was affordable and youth-enhancing.

As time has evolved so has Pixi Skintreats and right now there’s a surge in Rose based products.

Start with Pixi’s new ROSE CREAM CLEANSER, a nourishing cream cleanser. Surprisingly this is made with mineral rich mud that cleanses your skin as it helps strengthen and soften it. This contains some wonderful ingredients like Rose Flower Oil to moisturize; Chamomile & Aloe Vera for soothing and calming, and Avocado Oil to condition and soften your skin. I like that it’s so creamy as I find that feels hydrating.

Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser

ROSE TONIC is the next generation of Glow Tonic. It contains nutrients your skin will love while it helps tone, calm skin, balance pH, and minimize redness. This is excellent for sensitive skin as well as all skin types as it’s alcohol free. The key ingredients are Rose Flower Extract which moisturizes and restores skin; Elderflower to gently tone and brighten; and Chamomile & Aloe Vera to sooth, calm and reduce redness. Use this after cleansing or to refresh your skin at any time of day.

Pixi Rose Tonic

The T-ZONE PEEL OFF MASK is my favorite new Skintreat. I’m a fan of masks and the fact that it is meant for my t-zone makes it even better. It’s only used on your actual t-zone so for me it’s my nose and chin (the t-zone also includes forehead but I don’t have a problem there). It’s to be used 1-2 times a week, more if needed. Put on a thick, even layer and let it completely dry. Then have the fun of gently peeling it off. It gives me immediate results making my face look less congested. I usually follow up with Rose Tonic or Glow Tonic. “It contains a unique green superfood blend that includes Avocado, Cucumber, Aloe Vera, Green Tea, and Bamboo Extract to help firm & refine. Great for congested, dull & tired skin.”

Pixi T-Zone Peel-Off Mask

Pixi T-Zone Peel-Off Mask

FAST FLASH FACIAL is a great skin treat since it has three of the Skintreats in one box. “Discover our 3 steps for a fast and effective professional salon peel treatment without leaving home!
Our radiance revealing, Peel & Polish resurfaces and loosens dead skin cells, gently exfoliates, and polishes to reveal brighter skin. Our Exfoliating Glow Tonic toner with 5% glycolic acid evens out skintone for a brighter, clearer, smoother complexion. This radiance-boosting Instant Flash Balm is the ultimate 3-in-1 primer, moisturizer & mask that brightens and revitalizes to perk up skin instantly!”

Pixi Skintreats Fast Flash Facial

Pixi Fast Flash Facial

With this set you get 3 of Pixi’s most popular items. Peel & Polish is something that I use several times a week. It lives in my shower and the minute I step in I apply it to my dry skin. I let it be for at least 2 minutes while I start to wash my body, then I massage it into my skin for the exfoliation and rinse off. Glow Tonic is the star of Pixi’s line and is an exfoliating toner with 5% glycolic acid. Last in the trio is the Rose Flash Balm, a 3 in 1 product that is oil free and moisturizes and brightens. It also is great as a revitalizing mask as well as a primer to prep skin for perfect makeup application.

Do you know about ShadowSense Long Lasting Eyeshadow?

ShadowSense® Long Lasting Eyeshadows

ShadowSense® is part of the SeneGence family. The name may feel familiar to you since there’s been a lot of talk about their long wear lipsticks LipSense® Liquid Lip Color. I have a few of the LipSense® lipsticks and I like them so I was very interested in their eyeshadow version for a few reasons.

🙂  It’s a Cream to Powder formula and I love cream shadows.

🙂  These are long wearing shadows so you don’t have to worry about them fading away.

🙂  There are 21 shades in both matte and shimmer formulas.

I got very lucky and I won two of these in a giveaway from Bekah Loves back in late November. Even though my favorite post to write each week is The Sunday Scoop I barely enter any giveaways. A lot of the reason is that I am lucky enough to get product for review from companies plus I just don’t have the time. But this ShadowSense® giveaway really appealed to me so I entered and went back for additional entries.

My prize was 2 ShadowSense®of my choice and true to form I chose shimmery neutrals: Sandstone Pearl Shimmer and Moca Java Shimmer ($22 each).

ShadowSense

If you follow me on Beauty Info Zone then you know that this type of shadow floats my boat. I love a cream shadow that doesn’t crease or fade away that I can use as a base or as the shadow itself. I’ve used these two ShadowSense® both ways and often.

Sandstone Pearl Shimmer gets the most use from me since it makes an awesome base for the neutrals I love. There’s a lot of gold to it yet I can blend it out to a more subtle shade. The shimmer adds some depth to it but that shimmer is going nowhere except on my eyes. It’s not the least bit garish like some gold shadows can be though you could top it with a gold powder shadow for more color if you wanted.

ShadowSense® Moca Java Shimmer and Sandstone Pearl Shimmer

ShadowSense®Moca Java Shimmer is a beautiful bronze that wears well on your lid as well as a crease shade. I like to wear the two of these together.

ShadowSense® Moca Java Shimmer wand

My favorite way to apply these is with a synthetic eyeshadow brush but the easiest way to use them is directly from the wand and then to use your finger to smooth the shadow. I prefer the brush since my nails are on the long side and I like the way it diffuses better.

According to their website the formula includes anti-aging SenePlex Complex™ for protection of the delicate eye area. They had me at anti-aging. When I return I have a list of a few ShadowSense® shades and a LipSense® shade I hope to purchase.  Have you tried either ShadowSense®or  LipSense® yet? If not what are you waiting for?  —  Marcia

Have fun with your eyes, try Jesse’s Girl Fluid Shadows

jesses girl fluid shadows

Sometimes we take life a little too seriously and don’t let ourselves have fun with makeup. Cosmetics have a lot of purposes for example you can cover up areas you aren’t happy with, you can bring brightness to your face with the right lipstick and/or highlighters, you can make yourself look glamorous with false lashes and smokey eyes, or you can just plain have fun with bright colors and different textures. One such fun product is Jesse’s Girl Fluid Shadow. These pretties were sent for review and I’ve been having a ball with them.

There are one dozen fluid shadows from Jesse’s Girl in shades from light to midtone to dark. There’s a shade (or 12) for just about everyone.

Jesse's Girl Fluid Shadow line

Jesse’s Girl Fluid Shadow line

Rose Bronze – not a rose and not a bronze but a bronze that’s been livened with a rose shade, bit a cool as a bronze would be; this one makes a great eyeliner

Enchanted Forest  – just as the name implies, a mossy green that’s lightened by the sun

My Blue Heaven  –  on the verge of a cobalt blue; take a sky blue and add in a bright cobalt and you have My Blue Heaven

Royal Orchid  –  striking warm purple metallic

Midnight Sky  –  dark dark blue just as the most perfect night sky would be, including a small amount of silver shimmer that is reminiscent of the stars

Purple Haze  –  deep dark purple with a brown undertone, because of the depth it doesn’t have as much of the metallic aspect of lighter colors

Penny Arcade  –  rose copper, this is a standout to me

Gold Dust  –  bright yellow gold that reminds me of my wedding band gold

Destiny  –  a taupe with a touch of pewter, another one to crave (described by Jesse’s Girl as a light metallic bronze)

Twilight  –  light lavender metallic, soft and delicious

Meadow  –  a pistachio mint metallic green (described by Jesse’s Girl as Sage)

Snowflake  –  silvery metallic white

You can apply these with the wand that will remind you of a lipgloss wand or you can transfer the color from there onto an eyeshadow brush. I personally feel that I can get more control with a brush. To use it as an eyeliner either use the tip of the wand or use an eyeliner brush or a brush like MAC 219 that comes to a point.

These liquid eyeshadows are recommended for your lower lid, they really won’t dry well if you put them in the crease. I also find that I can’t go back over the color because they’ll crack on me. Of course I don’t have young smooth lids like you probably do.

Where can you have this much fun for just $4.99? With colors like these you won’t be the least bit sorry. —  Marcia

Pur Eye Polish will bring shine to your eyes on New Year’s Eve and ever after

PÜR Cosmetics

PUR Cosmetics has everything you need to make your special evenings out more beautiful. One of my new favorites (sent for review) is their EYE POLISH. This double duty product is just what the doctor ordered for a night out.

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Champagne and Satin

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Champagne and Satin

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish comes in 6 beautiful shades that can be used as a crease proof eyeshadow primer or alone as an iridescent lightweight cream eyeshadow. I have two shades, Cashmere and Satin, and love the unusual texture of them.

Pur Cosmetics Cashmere Eye Polish packaging

Pur Cosmetics Cashmere Eye Polish packaging

Let’s start with the packaging –  this is a midsize short jar with the top of the jars being colors that match the color within. Open it and you’ll find a mesh covering for the liquid eyeshadow polish. Shake and press down with your finger or a brush to pick up the color. You’ll feel a coolness to the shadow at first. These dry down quickly but not instantly. There’s enough time for you to pat it on your lid in the intensity you want before it dries down totally. They come with a small silicone applicator (which I didn’t receive) that helps pick up the shadows easily and makes application easy.

The 6 shades are

  • Satin – Sheer Crystal Pink
  • Suede – Earthy Seductive Neutral
  • Cashmere – Shimmery Champagne
  • Silk – Prism Copper
  • Velvet – Plush Amethyst
  • Caviar – Lavish Black with Gold Karat Flecks
Pur Minerals Satin and Champagne

Satin is the brighter of the two I have and the more iridescent. Satin has a pink cast to it but I wouldn’t call it a true pink. It’s light enough and bright enough to create shine that stands out. I like using it with Pur’s Secret Crush Palette (reviewed here) with the cooler shades. Champagne is more golden and not quite as shiny. It’s just gorgeous with neutrals and browns/bronzes. Both appear shimmery yet they stay in place. You won’t get glitter on your face with these.

These are incredible products and I can’t wait to pick up Caviar to see how the darker shades look. I know they wear beautifully. No extra primer is needed since Eye Polish has it all. — Marcia

Krämögonskugga cream shadows are the most long wearing, waterproof creams I’ve ever worn and I’ve worn a lot of brands! When they featured their newest shades in Mohair and Flannel I couldn’t wait to get those and happily they were sent for review.

Face Stockholm Krämögonskugga Dream Cream Eyeshadows in Mohair and Flannel

Face Stockholm Krämögonskugga Dream Cream Eyeshadows in Mohair and Flannel

I’m crazy about these. I apply them with a fluffy brush and smooth them out with my fingers and the brush. There’s no primer needed where I apply them since they don’t crease on me or fade. They stay true from morning to late night. While these are highly pigmented you can easily control the intensity of them since they are buildable and quite easy to blend.

The jars are quite small but you use so little of the product that they’ll last forever. I have some from 2 years ago that are still as smooth and easy to apply as these newer ones.

MOHAIR surprised me when I went to swatch and wear. It’s so much prettier on than it looked in the pot. It’s a lightly shimmered golden bronze. Since these layer well I’ll wear it in the crease with a powder highlighter shadow and a complementary lid shade. It can also be worn in the crease with Flannel on the lid for a very striking look.

FLANNEL is also lightly shimmered but not metallic like Mohair. It’s a beautiful forest green. Face Stockholm mentions layering these shadows under powder shadows but I also like them on top of a powder. Flannel is too dark for me to wear as a base shade although if I layer a black powder over it creates a very hot smokey eye.

Whether you like to be enveloped in mohair or flannel you’ll surely find these shadows to be the stuff that dreams are made of. — Marcia

Favorite products to get holiday ready

For Makeup Wars today we are sharing our favorites for holiday beauty. For my post it’s the products I recently used to go out for a special dinner and that I’ll be replicating on Thanksgiving when someone else (hallelujah) is hosting a very elegant dinner. Come along and see what my special items are.

Surratt Eyelash Curler

Surratt Eyelash Curler

During Sephora’s F&F sale I treated myself to a Surratt Beauty Relevee Eyelash Curler ($30). I already own lash curlers and use one daily or my eyes disappear, but the hype on this was so strong that I needed to try the Surratt one. It has its pros and cons but for me it’s mostly a pro.

Surratt Beauty Relevee Lash Curler opened

Surratt Beauty Relevee Lash Curler closed

I feel like my lashes are curled better than ever without having any crimps in them. The curl seems to last longer too. The problem with this is that it’s black and my eyelashes are very dark so it’s sort of a game using the lash curler. I can’t see if my eyelashes are in there straight so I just wait til it feels comfortable and squeeze; move it again and squeeze. So far so good.

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow

Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow Duo

As an eyeshadow base I used Wander Beauty Exquisite Eye Liquid Eyeshadow in Champagne*.  This is one of the two liquid eyeshadows sold together on QVC ($34). I love both shades and wear them when I want some gorgeous shimmer that won’t wander – ever. On my non-oily lids I don’t need an eyeshadow primer since this does the job.

The swatches are applied heavily but on my eyes it becomes a sheer wash of color. My powder eyeshadows become even more vibrant and long lasting when using these as a base but these cream shadows are great all by themselves too.

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Lorac Pro Metal Palette

Right now I have a crush on Lorac Pro Metal Palette ($28). I bought this after seeing a review on Beauty Junkies Unite and knew it had to be mine. I love a high shine and these 8 shades do it right. Quartz is very white on me which is why the Wander Beauty base is better for my brow bone. I love Gilded‘s gold on my lid and Graphite‘s golden taupe in my crease. The palette in general though is fabulous with Rose Gold, Onyx (dark charcoal), Amber (copper), Clover (golden khaki), and Cobalt (navy). These shadows are like silk. This is limited edition so if you love these kinds of shadows be sure you check it out.

Youngblood Luminous Crme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme blush in Taffeta

Youngblood Luminous Creme Blush in Taffeta is my favorite blush ever. I use up just about nothing cosmetic wise but I’m on my second pot of this. It’s a go-to blush for me that I feel is the perfect pink for my skin. I really didn’t think it could get better until Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick ($28)* came into my life.

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

Jennifer Bradley The Glow Stick

The Jennifer Bradley Glow Stick is a light pink cream highlighter that can be used on cheeks, face and eyes. It’s got a luminous quality without a single drop of glitter or shimmer. It feels almost magical when applied. This comes in a plastic tube with a wand ball applicator that makes it easy to apply. It doesn’t migrate on my face. I’ve used it on my browbone, over a blush and on the cupid’s bow of my mouth. While it’s subtle, it gives a twinkle when you move your head certain ways or in some lights. It’s the perfect strobing product for people who want the glow without the fuss. I store mine upside down in a lipstick holder and shake it just before use.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox’s Brow Tech Gloss Stick ($21)* brings a new dimension to my quest for good eyebrows. I follow a blog (If Makeup Could Talk) and she always has the most amazing brow look. I never could figure out how to get my brows to look glossy like hers. I didn’t want anything sticky.

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick - taupe on top, brunette on bottom

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick – taupe on top, brunette on bottom

Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Stick is the answer to my question. This wind up brow stick comes in 4 shades. I was sent both Taupe and Brunette. I can use them both but it’s Brunette that really gives me that special look. These are glossy without being over the top. They add a beautiful, non-sticky sheen to my eyebrows while filling them in well. I save these for nights out so that I can feel special when I’m trying to look my best.

Of course there’s more to it than these 6 products but this is gist of my favorite look lately. I feel it’s holiday ready and ups my everyday face to something more special. Each of these are products I can highly recommend.

What are your favorites for holiday party looks? — Marcia
