Another charming box for Boxycharm and another charming giveaway

September 2017 Boxycharm

I think I get more excited about receiving my Boxycharm each month than just about anything. I’ve purchased this now for about 2 years and I’m even on a 6 month prepurchase. After I moved my box never got forwarded and they were terrific about getting me a box so their CS is top notch.

The variety of items in Boxycharm makes me happy plus just about every month there’s a full size eyeshadow palette and you know I’m all about eyeshadows. This month’s box is great for those of us who love eye makeup.

Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries eyeshadow palette

I was most excited to learn about this Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries eyeshadow palette? Is the Pope Catholic? Darn tootin’ I was and this shows why:

Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries eyeshadow palette

8 beautiful matte shadows and 4 shimmers and all in colors I love to wear.

Pur Cosmetics Soiree Dairies (from purcosmetics.com)

This $34 palette will be getting a lot of use from me and Boxycharm has more than paid for itself with just this one item.

Bodyography eyeshadow and angled liner brushes

This Brush Duo from Bodyography (value $20) is a great accompaniment to this palette. The flat shader is the style brush that I use for my lids every day.  It’s a goat hair brush that is soft yet dense. The angled liner is soft and easy to use with the matte shadows or gel liners for lining.

MAC Lingering Eyebrow Pencil

Not only has Boxycharm added brands like Pur and ColourPop but now there’s MAC. MAC Lingering Eye Brow Pencil is a self-propelling, self-sharpening brow definer. Great for travel. Subscribers received either Lingering or Spiked. ($18)

Studio Makeup HD Powder

Studio Makeup HD Powder ($35) is also in the box. I don’t know about you but a jar this size will last me for years. Since it’s a translucent powder it should work on just about everyone. Some people received a loose blush from Studio Makeup in their box.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Strut

Each month brings us a lip from Boxy and this month they again sent the popular Colourpop our way. I received Strut which is a pretty fall shade in their Ultra Satin Lip formula.

Colourpop Sturt Ultra Satin Lip (from colourpop.com)

Colourpop describes this as a cool toned taupe. Even with the name “ultra satin” it’s a matte liquid lip but it’s not as drying as their Ultra Matte.

Brigeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask

Boxycharm seems to be putting in a non-cosmetic item each month too and this month it’s Brigeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask (2 oz, value $9). Brigeo is very popular and this mask is one of their top sellers. It’s to be left in your hair for 5-10 minutes before rinsing out. This isn’t a good mask for me since it’s so highly fragranced (my opinion) but one of my good friends love it so she’ll receive it in the next package I send her.

The total value for my $21 Boxycharm subscription is $123 so I’d say I’m ahead of the game. And since my last Boxycharm giveaway was such a success I have another one for you today. In this particular giveaway you’ll receive two items from Studio Makeup plus the MAC Lingering Eye Brow Pencil and lots of surprises. The palette is from a previous Boxycharm and has been knocking around in my drawer so it looks a little under the weather but it’s brand new.

Wantable Cosmetics subscription keeps getting better

Welcome to Wantable for June 2015

Welcome to Wantable for June 2015

I always look forward to my shipment of Wantable’s cosmetic subscription box. I know there’s going to be new to me brands and new to me cosmetics in the box. Wantable makes it so easy too because of their detailed survy and their generous return policy. You no longer have to return the whole box, you can return just the pieces that won’t work for you. A subscription is $40 but if you keep the entire box then the next month is $36. They work with some of the best brands too.

For June Wantable sent me 4 full size items that are already getting a lot of use from me. They are all winners in my book.

DOUCCE LIQUID DEEP EYE LINER is the first item I used. Even though eyeliner is only in my like column, it’s really a product I love, I just don’t want to get too many. But when it’s a liquid eyeliner, I’m the perfect candidate. I prefer liquid liners and this is a great black liner. The point is very firm making it easy for me to use. When there’s a relatively short brush then the firmness helps steady the liner creating a line that glides on. This is a $24.00 value. Even though I had a Doucce lipstick in another Wantable box, I disliked the fragrance so I sent it back unused. That makes this the first Doucce item I own.

CHELLA WATER RESISTANT BLACK MASCARA comes at the perfect time. Summer heat and Marcia do not go hand in hand. Having a water resistant mascara is perfect. This $25 mascara is formulated with Panthenol conditers and cocoa butter to moisturize lashes.

BODYGRAPHY CREAM SHADOW GLIMMER is the product that scared me. It’s so incredibly beautiful when new but it looked so shimmery and actually over the top

but…. that top layer is just for looks and once it’s used the color is stunning and quite wearable.

Bodyography Cream Shadow in Glimmer

Glimmer is a cream eyeshadow (love that) that has a metallic shine. It’s not glittery or shimmery, it’s metallic goodness. They say that the top layer is made of crushed pearl. It can be worn as a base, alone or part of a beautiful eye look. ($20 value)

POUT SHOUT LIPSTICK in BE LIGHTFUL ($15) is another new brand to me and a great shade for this box of beauty and for me. This peachy nude is fragrance free, creamy and a pleasure to wear. It’s like someone at Wantable looked at my lip drawer and said “this one’s for Marcia”.

Wantable came through for me this month with 4 products worth $84 that I’m thrilled with owning. It’s exciting to have the Bodyography Glimmer shadow and the Pout Shout Be Lightful lipstick plus 2 staples that I use daily. Join me in an adventure with Wantable Cosmetics. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lot of beauty to gain. — Marcia

A hit and a miss from Wantable Cosmetics

I’ve been a subscriber to Wantable’s Cosmetic boxes for several years now. Occasionally I receive a box for review which I did with the two boxes I’m going to share today. I’m grateful when that happens and hate to bash them if there’s a miss but one of these two boxes is a total miss for me which is unfortunate. Let me know if either of these would be a hit or a miss for you.

FEBRUARY’S COSMETIC WANTABLE BOX:

Wantable Cosmetics for February

Wantable Cosmetics for February

As usual there are only full size cosmetic items in this package. A subscription costs $36 per month and this February box has a value of $77 which is makes it worth twice as much as paid.

1) BODYOGRAPHY LOOSE COMPLEXION POWDER in PORCELAIN ($24) – this has a very smooth and silky texture and the color is perfect for my fair skin.

Bodyography Loose Complexion Powder in Porcelain

2) BODYOGRAPHY MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES ($12) – this contains 50 wipes. I’ve never seen a package of wipes this big. It’s double the typical size. I won’t use this on my eyes even though it says it can remove waterproof makeup but these will get used. It should last me for months and months.

3) LORD & BERRY LIQUID EYELINER in BLACK ($24) – I’m a huge fan of liquid eyeliner though I do have enough black liners for the next few years. This is a truly waterproof liner. I couldn’t get it off my hand with water even hours later. It’s not my favorite type of packaging since I tend to be more messy with a short brush but when I want long lasting, this will be it.

Lord & Berry Inkglam in Black

4) FRANKIE ROSE LIPSTICK in PINK MELON ($16) is the prize in the package. My blog partner Lisa has reviewed several Frankie Rose products but this is my first experience with them and it’s a winner! This lipstick is beautifully pigmented and has a beautiful shine all on its own. It’s creamy and moisturizing.

WANTABLE for March

WANTABLE for March

WANTABLE for March

My March box has me confused and you’ll soon see why. The value of this box is $66.50 and contains 4 full size products.

1) BODYOGRAPHY NAIL LACQUER in FANCY FREE ($8.50) is a very pretty spring peach cream polish. Even though it’s a full size, Bodyography’s polishes are a little smaller than most.

2) AU NATURALE LIP & CHEEK TINT in PARISIAN PINK ($22) is a conundrum. The color in the pot is very appealing.

The color once applied is basically invisible. I like a light lip but this is totally clear on my lips. And it doesn’t show up on my cheeks. I got one swatch seen below to photograph and never could recreate it.

3) and 4)  BILLION DOLLAR BROWS BROW POWDER in LIGHT BROWN and in TAUPE ($18 each) – UM, why did I get the same product in two shades? And since my hair is dark brown can I really use Light Brown?

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

Billion Dollar Brow powder in Taupe and Light Brown

I’m sure the idea behind this is to mix the colors but this just doesn’t work for me. I’ve got it already in Taupe (which they couldn’t possibly have known) and I like it in Taupe but I really wish they had sent me a totally different product instead of the Light Brown.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem knowing which is the hit and which is the miss. The great thing about Wantable though is that they have a no hassle return policy. On your packing slip you’ll find the actual cost and the price you’ll get if you return any items. So I can return the ones that don’t work for me and get a credit toward my next box or a refund for the value. Wantable makes a shopping experience easy and fun. You can change around your profile preferences as often as you wish to get the customized box of your dreams. I’m removing powders and brows for now since I’m overloaded and will add back in highlighters which was off my list for a while.

I’ve certainly got some winners from Wantable and even the ones I won’t use might be great for someone else. Which box do you think was my HIT? Are you ready to hit with Wantable? If so please use the Beauty Info Zone affiliate link to sign up.  — Marcia

Perfect autumn lips with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

I swear, indoor heat is the most annoying thing ever.  I have so many issues with dry skin and dry lips…my entire body becomes the Saraha Desert.

Sahara DesertI am always surrounded by tubes of various lip balms, but at night I like to give my lips a good scrubbing with bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo ($25).  Now, scrubbing the lips sounds painful, and I have had some bloody lip disaster with exfoliants that are just too harsh.  But I am completely sold on the Exfoliating Lip Duo that we were sent because it gently and effectively removes any dry skin, hydrates lips, and comes in practical, smart packaging.

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo

This is a dual-ended lip treatment with a sugar-based lip scrub on the bottom and a Marula Oil based solid lip oil on the other.  It is just an awesome little package with a fantastic lip scrub.  First, the lip scrub tastes delicious.  Second, just a tiny bit scrubbed onto dry lips removes all dry skin and leaves lips super smooth.  Third, you don’t even have to wash it off after – just wipe with a dry towel.

Once lips are wiped clean (I dare you not to lick them first…it really does taste wonderful!) open the top of the jar for the solid lip oil.

Exfoliating Lip Duo Solid Lip Oil

The solid lip oil is Marula Oil, a fantastic antioxidant that treats lips and helps to build collagen.  This is the perfect finishing touch for hydrated, healthy lips.

Since I started using the Exfoliating Lip Duo every night my lips couldn’t look or feel better.  It is a real winner in my book.  It’s not just a night treatment – it’s also perfect before applying lip pencil and lipstick.

Check out these tips from bodyography Creative Director and professional makeup artist, Lori Leib, on how to get your fall lipstick to last.

Step 1: Exfoliate and hydrate your lips with Bodyography Exfoliating Lip Duo, this creates a beautiful base for any lip color.
Step 2: Lightly dab off the solid oil from the Exfoliating Lip Duo with a tissue after a few minutes – now your lips are prepped for color.

Step 3: Choose a smooth plum-colored lip pencil like Bodyography’s Rosewood Lip Pencil and line the outside of your lips.

Step 4: Use this same pencil to color in the entire lip.
Step 5: Take a pressed powder, I used Bodyography’s Every Finish Powder in Translucent and lightly brush some of the powder over the lip liner to create a nice matte base.

Step 6: Apply a warm plum toned lipstick like Havana Sheer Lip Stick all over the lips, blot with a tissue and apply again.
Step 7: You should now be left with a long-lasting, sexy Autumn lip!
