Two ways to refresh and detox: Ban Refresh Cooling Body Cloths and ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

Ban Refresh Cooling Body Cloths and ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

Ban Refresh Cooling Body Cloths and ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

I resolved to focus on health for 2016 and so far so good. I want healthier skin and a healthier body. I’m working out with a personal trainer twice a week and riding my bike/doing the treadmill/attending yoga classes/suffering through core workouts at least three other days each week. I’m also taking good care of my skin – religiously washing my face at night, washing my makeup brushes once a week, and using treatments with proven ingredients.

While I feel so much better physically, I do find that since I am going from work to workout I am always wanting to freshen up.  Two products I am finding invaluable for this are Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths ($3.29) and ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil ($68).

Ban

Ban Refresh Cooling Body Cloths

Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths are always in my gym bag! They instantly wipe away  sweat and grime, refreshing me after even the most grueling workout. I like to use them to clean my hands during my workout too – gym floors and equipment can be kind of grimy. These wipes aren’t overly wet so they don’t leave me all sticky and trying to dry off. They have this powder finish that is soft and smells so good. I love them.

ESPA

ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil

I am also loving the ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil. Body oils in general are an awesome way to keep skin soft and supple, and this one is incredibly refreshing. The grapefruit scent smells clean and happy, and the sweet almond oil is terrific for skin hydration. It is detoxifying in that it boosts circulation (which also helps reduce the appearance of cellulite — hooray!).  Cypress and juniper berry also help stimulate the lymphatic system which then flushes away toxins. This elegant oil is refreshing and so good for the body that it’s totally worth the price tag.

If you are looking for a fresh, healthy year, here are two products that will help you get there quickly.  Here’s to a happy healthy new year!  – Lisa

Gorgeous skin the organic way with Kypris Body Elixer: Inflorescence

Kypris Body Elixir: Inflorescence

Kypris Body Elixir: Inflorescence

Already a huge fan of body oils, my latest one – Kypris Body Elixir: Inflorescence – has me swooning.  It’s organic luxury that is so good for the skin I feel positively virtuous every time I use it.

KYPRIS is an organic line of holistic skin care with wild-crafted, sustainable grown ingredients.  You may have heard of them before since they were Green Spa Network’s 2014 Green Product Company of the Year. Entrepreneur and feminist champion Chase Polan created this line which debuted in 2012. Kypris has six serums and elixirs the moisturize, protect, and repair the skin.

Body Elixir: Inflorescence  ($95) is skin care for the body.  It’s the first product on the market with actives typically found in face products.  Kypris says this body oil is “equal parts ecstatic beauty experience, targeted, multi-active skin care, lymphatic movement, aromatherapy and AM/PM self-care ritual tool”.  The oils and essential oils are organic, wild crafted, co-op sourced, local, and sustainable procured.

Kypris Body Elixir: Inflorescence

I am absolutely in love with the Arts and Crafts era, so I adore the packaging.  The body oil comes in a beautiful felt bag that houses the  3.4 fl oz glass bottle with a lace motif design that was inspired by Arts and Crafts.  The body oil isn’t greasy, and it leaves skin unbelievably soft, plumped, and luminous.  It has a definite herbal scent when first applied, but the scent is gone within five minutes so it doesn’t conflict with your favorite fragrance.

Kypris Body Elixir: Inflorescence

The fabulous ingredients treat your body with the same loving care that great skin products treat your face.  Chase Polan developed this oil because she knows that women typically take good care of skin from the neck up…but the decollete and beyond are often completely forgotten.  Just take a look at these amazing ingredients that not only hydrate and enhance elasticity, but also give an antioxidant boost to SPF:

Morinda Oil From the kernels of The Miracle Tree which thrives in extreme weather conditions and yields parts so nutrient-dense they are prized in malnutrition relief and wellness circles alike. KYPRIS’ moringa kernel oil is from a co-operative effort that uses the leaves for hunger relief and the kernels for the oil. A wealth of vitamins, nutrients, and fatty acids from the kernels of this miraculous tree that flourishes even in drought soothes and nourishes stubborn, dry skin. The kernels can be used to regrow the trees but so can clippings of the leaves. The kernels can clarify water but not purify water to an extent that it is potable, so they are best used for their nourishing oil which is not traditionally consumed. The Moringa Kernel oil in this product benefits Trees for Life. (Nicaragua)

Prickly PearWild crafted from the Arizona high desert and the result of a 3+ year collaboration with a wild crafting group, our organic, wild crafted Prickly Pear seed oil is a unique wealth of amino acids and vitamin E that soothes stressed and tired skin.

TamanuOrganically grown and pressed by a co-operative in Tahiti, Tamanu oil inspires cellular renewal, is used in France to help heal burned skin, and is fantastic for enhancing the elasticity of pregnant bellies.

SunflowerLocal, organic blooms yield a golden seed oil wealthy in sun-protective beta carotene and an auspicious fatty acid composition for a delicate emollience.

Neroli and Sweet OrangeClinically tested with zero evidence of irritation or photo-toxicity in the sun, our sun-safe blend of neroli and sweet orange essential oils are aroma-therapeutically beneficial for both the nervous system and the skin. Uplifting, energizing, soothing, toning to both the nervous system and the skin.

Iris Leaf Stem Cells and Vitamin C EsterCreated using the best of green technologies to inspire and protect collagen and to plump skin to a vibrant luminosity.

Body Elixir: Inflorescence retails for $95 is available through estheticians, skin care spas and centers, physicians’ offices, apothecaries, and online at www.kyprisbeauty.com.  Do your body a huge favor and pick up a bottle of this fabulous body oil.  – Lisa

Planning a Labor Day getaway? You’ll want to take some CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

I am not ashamed to say that  CapriClear® had me at the word ‘coconut’. I love all things coconut…sweets, cooking oil, fragrance, skin care. It’s just so darn good for so many things.  So of course I jumped the chance to review the CapriClear® 100% Fractionated Coconut Oil Spray ($10.99 for the travel size).

This is a terrific drugstore find that is available at CVS, Walgreens, and Ulta. I got the travel size, and trust me this gem is going with me on my Labor Day Weekend trip! The ingredients are pretty simple – 100% fractionated coconut oil (Caprylic / Capric Triglycerides). That’s it. This spray-on moisturizer is all natural, hypoallergenic, colorless and odorless. I was definitely hoping it would smell like coconut, but it doesn’t smell like anything. Actually that makes it more versatile since you can use it knowing it won’t clash with any other fragrance.

CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

I use this right after I shower. Once I spray this on, dry skin, flakiness, and irritation is a thing of the past. My wrist became irritated by my watch, so I applied the 100% Fractionated Coconut Oil Spray for a few days. Even though I kept wearing my watch, the irritation disappeared. The oil dries very quickly so there is no wait time before putting on clothes. It does wonders for skin and also works on nails, scars, and stretch marks. It even helps tame hair frizz and flyaways. Sounds like everything I need for a weekend getaway!

CapriClear Coconut Oil Spray

If you are wondering what exactly Fractionated Coconut Oil is, here’s what CapriClear® says:

Fractionated coconut oil (FCO) is a fraction (portion) of the whole oil, in which the different medium-chain fatty acids are separated for specific uses. Lauric acid, a 12-carbon chain fatty acid, is removed. Fractionated coconut oil may also be referred to as caprylic/capric triglyceride oil or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil because it is primarily the medium-chain caprylic (8 carbons) and capric (10 carbons) acids that make up the bulk of the oil. MCT oil is most frequently used for medical applications and special diets. As part of this method, the familiar coconut smell is eliminated.

It has no emulsifiers, fragrances, animal products, artificial dyes, preservatives or other additives such as sulfates, parabens or toxins that can lead to skin irritation.

I am a big believer in body oils, and this is definitely one of the best I have tried. Be sure to check it out at CVS, Walgreens, or Ulta.  I know you will love this TSA friendly travel essential.  – Lisa

How to get Delectable this summer!

Delectable Sweet Cream Daily Dry Oil

Delectable Sweet Cream Daily Dry Oil

Indulgent, sassy, and affordable…those are the words that come to mind when I think of Delectable by Cake Beauty. Their body products smell amazing and I can find them so easily at Kohl’s and Target. They have two FANTASTIC newly launched summer products: Daily Dry Oil ($18) and Bronzing Body Lotion ($18).

Delectable Sweet Cream Daily Dry Oil

I am a huge advocate of body oil to begin with and Delectable Daily Dry Oil is terrific. The oil has great ingredients including argan, safflower, and grape seed oils. They leave skin hydrated without wetness or stickiness. It also absorbs immediately and gives a soft sheen to skin. I prefer spraying this onto my palms then smoothing on my legs, arms, etc., but you can certainly spray it on directly. I love the softly delicious Sweet Cream scent. It’s not too foody and it plays well with all my usual summer scents. You will want to pick this up the next time you are at Kohl’s or Target.

Delectable Bronzing Body Lotion

Delectable Bronzing Body Lotion

Delectable Bronzing Body Lotion

The other huge winner in my book is the Bronzing Body Lotion. This comes in the same pretty Sweet Cream scent.  There are so many reasons to love this bronzing lotion!

1.  I can’t seem to mess up the application no matter how hard I try. It always go on evenly and looks fabulous.

2.  It never stains my clothes.

3.  It has fantastic, skin-loving ingredients like argan oil.

4.  One application and my skin looks glowy and perfect. My legs have been described as ‘dead fish white’. Of course, the person who said that was properly maimed afterward. It may be true, but geez…it didn’t need to be  pointed out. He won’t make that mistake again!

5.  It makes my arms and legs look thin. That’s worth the price alone!!

before and after...guess which leg is sans Bronzing Body Lotion??

before and after…guess which leg is sans Bronzing Body Lotion??

This pic shows one thin application on my right leg. For deeper color, just apply more coats. It’s wonderful.

There are some products I absolutely love for summer that I refuse to be without and these two are on that list.  You have to check them out!  – Lisa

Sweet Almond & Macadamia Oil Essentials is loved by Marcia

Oil Essentials in Sweet Almond & Macadamia

Oil Essentials in Sweet Almond & Macadamia

Lisa and I chose the Oil Essential that sounded best for our particular needs. I had two reasons for choosing Sweet Almond & Macadamia. First is that this is in the PREVENT category and baby, I need to prevent everything bad at my age! Second though is that it sounded absolutely yummy. It’s a blend of sweet almond and macadamia nut oils that’s been crafted to prevent moisture loss in skin and hair. It’s been fortified with jojoba and meadowfoam sweet oils which are anti-inflammatory oils.

I love the smell which is more almond than anything else. If you are a fan of Amaretto then you’ll really love this. I don’t want to drink it though because it’s too precious for that. Instead I use it all over my body and to tame my hair. It’s a true multi-purpose product for me.

Smell yummy with Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil

I have converted many, many friends to body oil! It’s great for the skin and fragranced oils leave your body smelling wonderful all day long. I had been dying to try Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil ($18) forever, so I was extremely happy when they sent it to us for review. I was even happier after I tried it!

Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil

Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil

Agave Nectar Body Oil is the number one selling product at Farmhouse Fresh. It didn’t take me long to understand why. This is a fantastic body oil that moisturizes skin without leaving an oily or greasy residue. However, it does leave skin with a subtle glistening glow. In fact, this is a favorite of celebrity makeup artists because it makes skin photograph so well.

Backcountry Caramel

Backcountry Caramel

It has a light scent that is described as ‘oat/milk’, which is warm and comforting. (I also like to layer the Backcountry Caramel Body Milk Lotion over it for a truly delicious scent that makes people just want to eat you up.)

Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil

So not only does this oil smell fantastic and make skin look amazing, it’s also really good for you. The ingredients include a blend of extracts that reduce skin’s water loss, which is exactly what is needed to slow down the aging process. Farmhouse Fresh Agave Nectar Body Oil gets a major glistening thumbs up from me.  You’ve got to try this.  – Lisa

Eliminate bad hair days with Alberto VO5 Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil

Frau mit zerzausten HaarenThere’s a reason that people often use the expression Bad Hair Day. It can mean that you are literally having a day with hair so bad that you feel drab. Or it can just describe how your day is going. VO5 wants to remedy that situation so they’ve created products to help you avoid that drab feeling. Hopefully your mood will follow.

Alberto VO5 Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil

Alberto VO5 Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil

Alberto VO5’s newest product (sent for review consideration) is their Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil. This is a triple threat and good for the whole family. First threat: use this on your body. Just spray it on after a shower or any time you are feeling dry. It absorbs quickly so it won’t be long until you can be on your way. Second threat: Use this on your wet head by spraying it onto your hair and just comb it through. Then go about styling without the need for any other product. Third threat: use it on dry hair to add shine. When I do this I spray it into the palms of my hands and then rub my hands through my hair. It helps eliminates flyaway hair, static and adds a lovely shine at the same time.

“The Shine, Glow and Go Beauty Oil is a light, natural oil blend for both hair and body. Infused with VO5’s signature 5 essential vitamins, this ultra-hydrating, fast-absorbing oil helps replenish dry hair and skin to feel soft, silky and look more radiant. Free of mineral oils, paraben and dyes.”

Alberto VO5 Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil

Alberto VO5 Shine, Glow & Go Beauty Oil

One of the great things about Shine, Glow and Go Beauty Oil is that it’s only $4.99 but one of the not so great things is that it’s so new that it’s hard to find. So far it’s not online, though it will be. But you can go to VO5’s store locator in order to find the best and closest retailer.

We aren’t done though because VO5 makes other great oils for your hair and these ARE easy to find. VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works and VO5 Hot Oil Therapy are both items you need to consider.

VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works

VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works

Alberto VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works ($5.99-$6.99) is a one minute hot oil treatment that works with the heat of your shower to help you obtain and maintain healthier hair in just one minute. It’s great for those of us you have damaged hair, over processed hair or dry hair. The box has enough for 4 treatments (or more depending on the length of your hair).

VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works

VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works

Before you shampoo but after you’ve wet your hair, pour out about 1/4 of the bottle into your hand. Massage it into your scalp and leave it on up to a minute. Don’t leave it on longer though since the beauty of it is that it works well in just a short time. Then rinse, shampoo and rinse again thoroughly. The first time you use it I’d advise not to use a conditioner. I think you’ll find your hair conditioned enough from this to be able to forego conditioner. If it’s not then you know to add it the next time, but I’ve never needed to condition after use. You can use this more than once a week but honestly, once a week really should be enough.

ingredients for Hot Oil

ingredients for Hot Oil

Another way to go is to use Alberto VO5’s Hot Oil Therapy *($4.49) which is an intense moisturizing treatment. This and the Hot Oil Shower Works have a few differences but I think the result is the same. With Hot Oil Therapy there are two treatments in capsules.

VO5 Hot Oil Therapy

VO5 Hot Oil Therapy

The capsule needs to be preheated though not for long. It’s easy to do since you just place the unopened capsule into a glass of very warm water. You can do that while brushing your teeth. Then use it in the same exact way: apply before shampoo, leave it on no more than a minute, rinse, shampoo and rinse! So easy. vo5 therapy back

My personal preference is for the Hot Oil Shower Works because I really don’t need a full capsule since my hair isn’t that long or thick. I find the Shower Works is the fastest and most economical for me personally.

Alberto VO5

Alberto VO5

Whichever you choose you really can’t go wrong. These are all reasonably priced, work in the shower, and leave you with soft, manageable hair. If you can find the Shine, Glow and Go Beauty Oil definitely grab that one up. It’s a treasure. — Marcia
